Weeknight dinner on the rooftop included a couple burgers, the pulled pork sandwich, and the wings.
The burgers (mine with an egg AND bacon) were best we get in OP. Yes, Scratch, sorry about that. It's the array of flavors that just work so well - a beefy burger with semi-chewy brioche, arugula, tomato jam... The burger alone will get us back there many times. Their handling of the fries is also excellent - thick cut but still crispy on outside with aioli dip is delicious.
But, the roof deck is unlike anything you can do around here - panoramic view of the west side of city with pergola and lights overhead, trains clacking by occasionally. Big bar at one end with two TV's. Really wonderful atmosphere that feels someplace else. Combined with excellent food, they succeed where Avenue Ale house fails so miserably. So, THAT'S something to come back for regularly too.
And, finally, the beer. I'm not a connoisseur of micro-breweries. Usually a little hesitant about them because I don't care for the ubiquitous IPA. Here, we ordered 5 of their offerings, four in my flight, on in her pint. ALL were very good and represented a wide array of flavors. So, if you're not a beer freak, get the blonde ale and you're all set, it's not in your face but it's not overly simple either.
They had just rolled out their craft cocktail list and we didn't choose to try anything there. But, if they bring the same commitment to those as the food and the beer, I'm excited to try them next time out.
The busboy service was a little off. We left our table and it was still piled with all our empty dishes, it was odd. Really just a flaw in 1-2 employees, the rest of staff was super friendly and informative. The vibe inside is a little unconventional because of the space. First floor is cozy modern pub feel with a gorgeous and clever beer bottle chandelier overhead. The middle floor feels like tables scattered on landings, not a cohesive room. Aforementioned roof deck is brilliant. Thankfully the food and beer is the same throughout.
