On the Grid : Oak Park Brewing Company

"Up till the 1970s, Oak Park was a dry village. Dry no more, Oak Park Brewing is one of the first local breweries to open, crafting primarily ales with a focus on sustainability and a strong nod to village cultural history. And, a spangly outpost of Hamburger Mary's is right next door." - Julie Shumacher & Brett Burwell

One Lake Brewing has added more vegetarian options! I tried the grain bowl and it was delicious. The pub pretzel was also outstanding. One Lake's beers are always on point. Sadly, the grain bowl and the stuffed peppers are no longer on the menu. New vegetarian items include a portabella "philly" sandwich, a hummus and veggies plate, and the beyond burger. The hummus veggie plate was ok, carrots and radish with some hummus. Same with the philly, just ok. Mushroom was hot but not seasoned or cooked much. The fries are now shoestring fries, and arrived lukewarm at best. This was our neighborhood spot, I hope the menu will add more vegetarian items in the future.

Such a cute place, and decent beer. But holy moly, what HORRIBLE service, and incredibly overpriced for what you get. Our entire order got messed up, leading to tons of waiting and having to flag down various workers, each one of whom told us they were "new." I felt like i was on candid camera, it was so bad. The food was basic and overpriced: basic burger, cold fries -- and charged extra for EVERY freaking thing on the burger. $2 up charge for cheese. And when the prices are already $20 for a burger, Jesus! Never again. The cute atmosphere is not worth it. What a waste of time and money.

I’ve been a long time customer of OLB. I’m really happy to see they are now open for lunch. We took the kids there today and their new food is excellent in addition to great beers and ambiance. The service was excellent too, shout-out to Tatiana, our server, who was very accommodating to our kids and extremely nice. We’ll be back soon!

Drinks and atmosphere are great. Unfortunately the food and the service are not. Philly was not as expected, it was q skimpy burger patty on a huge bun. Burger was greasy and wings were not it. I had to ask for plates and napkins for wings?? Living down the street I want to support this business but I simply cannot when I leave unsatisfied once again.

The atmosphere is really awesome here! The food is pretty good as well. They have some decent beers and other guests seemed to really enjoy them. The staff was really friendly and attentive even when it got really busy. Great place to hang with friends or if you have your family with you

Google
Great food, excellent beer, and a knowledgeable staff. Unique cocktails to top it off and a beautiful location. Love the history that ties the whole neighborhood together. The fish and chips were super fresh, bbq fried chicken sandwich was delicious. Will be back to try more.

Google
I went as they had just opened their rooftop patio during the CoVid-19 time. They had 6 tables all spread apart very well. Servers kept mask on the whole time, online menu, and friendly service. I felt safe and taken care of the whole time. I saw them turn a table, when the table nearest to us left the servers sprayed and cleaned every chair and table on a 6 top even though only 2 people sat down. Very clean and thorough, tasty beer and a nice view to boot.

Google
Good selection of beer including some barrel aged stouts. Also had some cocktails and ciders. Nice rooftop patio. We didn’t have any food but it looked good.

Yelp
Tried out One Lake Brewing finally after I tried to go a few weeks ago but didn't realize they were closed for a private party (the no reservations available should've been my hint). All to say, I do recommend making a reservation to avoid this happening! The restaurant is pretty spacious and on. Friday night, was pretty low-key with minimal parties dining in. The music was low and gave more family friendly vibes. The drink I got I loved, and my friends thoroughly enjoyed their drinks as well. Pretty good for a quick weeknight meal or drink!

Yelp
I've been here 5 or 6 times now (I like to really try a place before I give a review when possible). I've never had a bad time here. Service has always been good and attentive, though not always super friendly. But the manager on duty has always been really nice and super helpful. The food is very good! I love the fact that they have a smaller burger and it's excellent. The Mac and cheese is also excellent, as is the pretzel. Food comes out fast and has always been correct. They have a descent selection of beers, but they lean on the lighter beers. But the do have a good IPA (Lando) and a really good stout (Been Czar Done That). And they do some special versions of the stout that are absolutely worth trying! I do wish they changed up the beer lineup occasionally. But they do also have a full bar! The place itself looks great. There are three floors including the rooftop deck, so a lot of space. It's all pretty standard brewery decor, but nicely done. Overall, this is a great spot in the neighborhood and you need to come check it out!

Yelp
Have been wanting to try this place out for so long! And I finally got the chance during St. Patrick's weekend. A great place for a bigger party or a date night on a weekday. The service was excellent, they seated us right away and continuously checked in on how we were doing. The appetizers are the star of the show in my opinion. I could do without the entree options. I wanted to try a little bit of everything. Not a whole lot of variety for non-beer drinkers though. They had sports on and the Simpsons on the TVs at the bar, that was nice. Super excited to go back during warm weather to be seated on their rooftop with all the pretty lights.

Yelp
Checked out another pretty small brewery. It was close to the train station, making it convenient to get off. One Lake is a pretty low key but pleasant brewery in Oak Park. Beers are the main thing but there's also a limited food menu. There's the bar inside as well as a rooftop. After getting off at the Austin station, we made the quick walk here. It's convenient to get to, so if you're on the CTA take the Green Line. The brewery isn't that big but it's big enough for a gathering or a party. It has the main bar which is where you go in. There's also seating on the rooftop so there should be plenty of room most times. Beers are what it's known for of course. It's about $7 a pint. There's not a huge list but there's variety. I got the Telegraph Hill, a California common. This is a medium bodied beer but not too strong though. As for the food, mostly meaty options. They do have popcorn. It's $4 and better than expected. This is made with Amarillo hops and tossed in a house spice. For sure could come here again. It's convenient to get to by the Green Line. The rooftop is a nice place for hanging when the weather is warmer.

Yelp
I enjoy One Lake. The interior is nicely done, burger is great and beer is good. I was a little taken aback when I showed up shortly after opening and asked to sit on the upstairs deck. They said all the tables on the deck were reserved. We sat at the deck bar, had two beers and left with tables that were "reserved" still vacant. That was disappointing but won't keep me from going back. The bartender was friendly and attentive.

Yelp
One Lake Brewing offers a fantastic selection of beers, and their beer flights are a great way to sample different varieties. As a fan of both IPAs and darker beers, I found their selection to be fairly well-represented and satisfying. I particularly appreciated the opportunity to try different flavors and expand my palate and the staff were helpful. The beers were well-crafted, showcasing the brewery's expertise and dedication to their craft. I also ordered their classic burger and fries. The burger was juicy, flavorful, and well-cooked. The accompanying fries were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, adding a delightful texture to the meal. One Lake Brewing also offers a rooftop area which provides a pleasant atmosphere for enjoying drinks and good company. In summary, One Lake Brewing is a great destination for local beer enthusiasts. The rooftop area and accommodating space make it a great choice for gatherings. I just wish they offered more vegetarian snacks and food besides the fries.

Yelp
Thank you so much for hosting the Brewery Running Series. We have been here before and it was so great to visit again. We met some local runners, enjoyed a great beer and took some burgers to go!

Yelp
The inside decor is nice as we sat on the second floor. The service was just okay. The first person to serve us seemed very disinterested in working and then a switch in staff occurred and the second server was a little more friendly. The food was average. The pulled pork was decent but not great. The fish was a small portion but everything came with a lot of fries. I love fries but didn't love these. The best part was the strawberry cocktail.

Yelp
Solid all around! The beer, food, service, and ambiance are all good. I recommend the Oscar Milde, which is an excellent take on an English beer style.

Yelp
A solid restaurant with some really great beers brewed on site and good food to boot. I got the beer mussels and there's no pictures because I inhaled them before I ever got a chance. Tried three little shorty glasses of their beers and all were really good. Loved the covered rooftop space too, though there's plenty of seating inside as well.

Yelp
As soon as we walked in it smelled like sewer/crap and that should've been our sign to walk out but we decided to give this place a shot. We came in for dessert and beers. The beer was not served cold it was room temp, the dessert ( banana cookie/gelato) was super difficult to eat. It seemed to have been sitting in freezer just ready to serve but it was very hard and physically hard to eat. The service was good though, our server was attentive and friendly. Other than that won't be returning.

Yelp
Great beer and love the outdoor rooftop. Wish it was open later in the summer but overall really like the spot

Yelp
We had plans to enjoy dinner and beer on their rooftop patio; however, the weather closed the rooftop and we ended up ordering food to go this time. I tried the Roasted Brussels Sprouts and Cauliflower Salad. The person taking our order suggested I add chicken and that was a great choice. Turns out they added chicken thighs which I love! Way more flavorful and moist than a chicken breast. The salad is a large entree and very filling. Personally, I would ask for the dressing on the side the next time, because it was a little too much for my personal preference. Overall, the salad had great flavor and I would certainly order it again. Hubby ordered a burger and thought it was good. I forgot to write the review that night, so I couldn't get anything more specific about his order. We hope to go back here the next time we are in town and check out the rooftop!

Yelp
We came in on a Friday evening to grab a drink and a bite to eat before heading to a play in the area. While we were excited about some of the menu items, we were quickly disappointed by the service and optics of how we were served. We were told to sit at one of the open tables and waited 10 minutes before I eventually walked over to the bar to ask if we needed to order at the bar or if a server would be coming to us - we were told we would have a server and that someone would be with us shortly. One of the bartenders came over and took our drink order and said our server would be with us soon. We proceeded to wait another 15 minutes while the server spoke with the host and bartenders so I eventually waived them down. We saw 2 other servers working the other tables. We were prepared to order 2 entrees but given how slow service had been, opted to share an appetizer so we could leave in a timely manner. As we waited for the pretzel (which was overly salted), we noticed that everyone else in the establishment but us had been given glasses of water, included the 3 parties that were seated after us. As an interracial lesbian couple, this experience left a bad taste in our mouths. My partner pointed out all of these issues to our server when we paid and regardless of the apologies and what the intention was in the moment, the impact left us not wanting to return.

Yelp
I stopped here when visiting a friend in Oak Park and highly recommend it! Their staff is very personable and I liked each beer in my flight. The rooftop is very in demand and I recommend a reservation. The macaroni and cheese is delicious.

Travis D.

Yelp
We come back because it is so close to where we live. Food is always good. They seem to be out of the mussels almost every time we dine there. Unfortunately the service is always lacking. Everytime we are there, you have to fight for attention from the staff. There are a ton of food runners, but no one seems interested in taking orders .

Matthew C.

Yelp
As a small business owner, I hate giving shitty reviews. Second to last time we were here, a high school aged server fully rolled his eyes at us asking for extra plates after asking if we needed anything. Restaurant was dead. This time, my sister and daughter got sick from the fish and chips and the other food was cold. Thanks? Menu concept, beer and location are amazing. Execution is awful.

Yelp
I thought that the cookie dessert was OK, but that the main highlight of this space was the rooftop patio. I know I'll be back, if anything to drink once again in one of the few rooftops I have found so far in Oak Park.

Kathleen S.

Yelp
Good just okay. Cocktails good. Had margarita with grapefruit juice. The bad thing the waiter didn't come back to check if our meal was okay. Had to grab the bus boy twice to remind her to bring our check. Came a half an hour later. When we left the receptionist asked how our meal was and we said it was okay but it took a half an hour to get our check. No response from her. She just gave us a flat blank stare.

Yelp
We stopped in for Sunday brunch at One Lake Brewing and really enjoyed the meal, the staff, and the whole experience! This is a beautiful space. The building - a former bank, I think- is newly renovated, spacious, open, and has such great light. Service was prompt, knowledgeable, and friendly. Our waiter checked on us throughout and ensured my meal was vegan and mayonnaise-free. The server, Jackson, delivered our meals with a smile, too! Everyone is so upbeat. Great energy. I was able to choose from at least 3 vegetarian entrees-maybe more- I stopped looking when I saw a carrot & beet wrap that could be made vegan without goat cheese. Came with fries that were perfectly seasoned and crispy- an awesome meal. Real Diet Coke- in chilled cans! I'm a Diet Coke fanatic, no shame, and a real can makes all the difference. We took a quick tour after our meal, checked out the second floor and the rooftop as well. This would be a great space to rent for an event, or a family party. I don't know if the second floor or rooftop spaces are accessible- we went up the stairs- but the first floor is really spacious and easy to move around. We will definitely come back. One Lake Brewing is a great addition to this Central East Oak Park & Austin neighborhood. We wish this new business much success!

Yelp
OMG! The Brussels sprouts, fish and chips. Meatballs.... Beer! The staff is great! Beer flights is good to try. Enjoy!

Yelp
The rooftop makes for a nice place to grab a drink and bite with friends on a weather-friendly day in Oak Park. The beer is okay, nothing outstanding or offending, but I do enjoy the wide variety of different styles of beers they have on tap.

Yelp
My husband and I stopped in for a lil date night here on a week night. This history of this place is so cool! We made reservations ahead of time for their rooftop. The staff was very welcoming when we came in and directed us upstairs. They were all wearing masks and reminded us of covid restrictions and things to be mindful of while we dined. Something I noticed was the table numbers above the tables. I'm not sure if they've always been there or they added for current times but it made it really easy to find our table. Once seated, we were greeted and ordered a few beers. They directed us to their website to order. One thing I recommend if you're going the online menu route is to have a QR code on your table. It's a small thing but is a nice addition for guests trying to order. I tried the Celestial beer and I liked it. It tasted similar to blue moon in a way and was refreshing. My husband tried the Lando juicy IPA and loved it. To eat, we wanted to get some apps but that didn't have much to choose from. We ended up going straight to the dinner options. I got the One lake burger. Love that they use local beef and asked it to be cooked medium. It unfortunately was served very well-done. Huge bummer! Luckily the corn dusted bun, house aioli & fried pickled onions made up for it. The fries are also incredible and you can tell they were freshly made (served hot and not greasy.) My husband got the wings with the sauce of the month which was sweet chili. He liked the flavor and they were cooked well but the wings were lacking in size. They did come with a homemade ranch and WOW! I wish I ordered a side for myself. You could taste the homemade dill and I loved it so much I stole it from him and even dipped a few fries in OOPS. Overall, it was a fine experience! The rooftop space is nice and the tables were spread out far apart. Another small thing that could have made our experience is if they were playing music up there. Definitely needed it. We'll come back to try some other things for sure.
google avatar

Rachel O.

Yelp
Beers are terrific! We didn't stop in for food, already ate, but the menu did look tasty and the tables around us smelled wonderful. Tried a flight of Lando (a juicy IPA) - OUR PERSONAL FAVORITE, Hopbrite (American Pale Ale), Telegraph Hill (common style, caramel-y), and Schwartzbier (German style black beer)... one of my faves as well. We really liked the chandel-beer - i've posted a pic! Don't know if they have brewery tours, but seeing the brewing equipment from the dining room is pretty cool! I know they're going for a minimalist look with clean lines, but I feel the interior lacks some character.... but it could also be the lack of music speakers in the area we sat. Felt a little lonely and blank. But again, maybe they'll spruce up the place with a wall of real live hops, or at least a large framed photo. The service was good, and we will return!

Yelp
We went for the Friday Fish Fry and was thoroughly disappointed. The menu said the fish was Whitefish although it was very thick and unlike any whitefish I have ever seen. While the outside was crispy the inside was awful. The texture of the fish was not flakey it was mushy and appeared to me to have been cooked/steamed before it was battered/fried as it had no texture and no taste. The service was very good as were the beers (even though they were a bit pricey).
google avatar

Jim B.

Yelp
Ate dinner on the rooftop and it was a great experience, especially with tennis tournament on the big screen television! I wasn't crazy about the gespacho , but otherwise very good food. I had a good chicken salad and an awesome Manhattan. Menu is limited but anxious to get back before the cold winds blow!

Colleen I.

Yelp
Food was good and so were the drinks but the service was absolutely terrible. Samantha seemed to completely forget we were even here. Wanted to order more drinks but we were left unattended for almost an hour and needed to go up to the bar to get the check...
google avatar

Kate S.

Yelp
Beer and cocktails were great, atmosphere beautiful. The drinks were pricey for Oak Park, and two of the beers i wanted to try were all out, but that didn't make or break the experience. But when we ordered the ($4!) popcorn, and got a stale basket that was chewier than memory foam, we had to speak up. When the server dropped back by to check on things, my wife said that she thought to popcorn was stale. To which the server responded: "We'll I know they make it fresh daily but I'll see what the kitchen says." Sorry... popcorn... once daily?!?!!?!?!! Regardless, a fresh (and fine) basket was delivered in its place (that we paid for, without apology from said server) so even if the server felt like defending 5 hour old popcorn, the kitchen knew what was up. Shouldn't have been served in the first place. I will come back because the place was clean and the beer was delightful. I plan to try a different snack though!

Anonymous F.

Yelp
Wow! Was so excited to try this place based on others' reviews but was so disappointed by the service and the food. Our server never once checked in on us after we got our food. To start, I ordered a Strawberry Fields. It tasted like straight tequila that was colored pink. No strawberries, rosemary, etc. Tried to flag our server down, but couldn't. Ultimately went to the bar and order a glass of wine that tasted like apple juice. We ordered the hopcorn to start, which was inedible. Set that to the side on our table. When our burger finally came (which was decently good), we told her about the popcorn. Never once did she check on us, or say "sorry, I can make you another drink." She really had zero training I think. Bad service, food, and drinks means I will not be back. I'm still mystified by how this place has good reviews from others. Maybe we were just here on a bad day. We'll never know.
google avatar

Yelp
Great rooftop atmosphere. So-so food. Fries were delicious as was the Brussels sprout salad. Don't bother with wings. Hardly any meat on them. Little flavor. And the fish with the chips was all breading. Not worth ordering them.

D S.

Yelp
Had dinner there recently. Place was busy and very loud. Beer was good but they were out of several kinds, server could have used more knowledge on the subject. Burger was excellent, fries were barely warm. Bowl was good. Overall decent and will try again when we can sit outside on the roof.

Mike B.

Yelp
Went here several times. Honestly pray you get one of the teenagers not on a crisis day.

Matthew B.

Yelp
Really want to like this spot, since we live nearby. Have been 3 times and have been let down every time. Service can be hit or miss. Food is a letdown. Once I ordered the chef salad with chicken, and it was borderline inedible. Chicken tasted old. Wings are nothing special. Beer just OK. It's a cool spot with good ambiance, especially the rooftop in the summer. Come in with low expectations and you might enjoy it.

Yelp
I've been wanting to come here for so long and I finally did!! The service is perfection and I appreciate that they're family friendly; yes bring your kids!!

Yelp
Really great space with tasty beer & food! Facebook lured us with a brews & bah's experience, goats are cool & all but ending at the brewery was a highlight for me. We were seated on the rooftop, which is a spacious seating area, even with COVID spacing in place! They have heating lamps up there, so would assume that you can be seated up there in the fall too. We didn't see much of the inside, but there is a dope beer chandelier you can see when going up the stairs. We all got flights of beer, which ended up giving us a really good feel for the many different beers. We also ended up trying several different menu items, they were all SO good. I would definitely get the soft pretzel again. I got the stuffed peppers and... I was pretty underwhelmed. I guess this would be an ok vegetarian (not vegan) option, but I needed there to be more goat cheese in this dish! Everyone else in my group got the burgers and those looked fantastic.

Todd L.

Yelp
First time there last night and was thoroughly impressed. By everything. The beer was delicious! A brown English ale thar reminded me of one of my favorites (Old Peculiar) that I can no longer get around here. Malt-forward and incredibly drinkable. Paired great with my meal. Speaking of which... Appetizer was the best damn hot pretzel I have ever had, bar none. With a perfectly balanced non-too-sweet whole-grain honey mustard. Wife and I split entrees too: The stuffed green pepper was vegetarian-friendly. And although we are not veg heads, the animal flesh was not missed. Perfectly al dente barley kernels, carrots, and caramelized goat cheese, fried scallions, and a mild red chile sauce were more than satisfying. We also shared the mussels in beer with bacon and garlic toast. Wonderful! Finished off with an amazing brownie a la mode and we were very happy. Also, I cannot emphasize enough how great the staff (including the owner) was, both with Covid stuff and just service and friendliness, in general. We will be back and be recommending it to our friends too. Please support businesses like these. We need more like them.
google avatar

Matthew F.

Yelp
One Lake has been consistently awesome both pre and post pandemic. We had only eaten there twice before Covid hit, and really enjoyed the food and house made beers (Ferme la Bouche and Celistial among many other greats). Since March, we've often ordered burgers and beer for delivery. On Wednesdays, they offer a third crowler for a penny when you buy two. It's really helped us feel normal during all of this. We also had dinner on their awesome rooftop on the 4th of July weekend. The spacing between tables, cleanliness of the environment, and other precautions taken by staff helped us to feel safe and enjoy our time.

Yelp
I really wanted to love my first time experience here especially on the rooftop, but unfortunately the service completely ruined it for us. I made reservations for myself and a few friends for the rooftop on a Friday night & right away we were greeted by a very nice man who told us which table to walk to. I forgot the server's name but literally anything we asked her about, like the beer or food, she was completely clueless about. I can see if you're new but being a former server myself, I would at least take it upon myself to quickly learn the menus to help patrons out. Management should not let her work alone til she's fully trained because she was the least bit helpful throughout the entire night. Then, when another experienced server finally answered our questions about the different types of beer & got our drinks ordered, the "new" server spilled my cocktail all over me. Not sure if they have any trays up there but she walked thru the entire rooftop as if she had an apple on her head trying not to spill. And when she finally got to me not only did she spill but she didn't have any napkins for us, she set it down on the iron tabletop that has holes in it and continued to spill on me. I had to ask her for napkins to clean up otherwise she wouldn't have brought them on her own! And the cherry on top of everything was she got our food order wrong - brought us a wrap that we didn't order and then tried to charge us for it! Always look at your bill! Food was decent. Drinks were good. Ambiance was delightful. But ultimately it comes down to the service. It was just awful. No other way of putting it. She was so unprofessional. Wouldn't recommend this place unless they fully train their staff correctly.

Yelp
A great place. Took my family here after finding it looking for good breweries and restaurants in the area requested by some family visiting from our of state. Came on a Friday night around 7 P.M. and found some parking on a nearby side street (tough but doable). While I parked the car family went in to try to get a table. After I came in from outside they had already been seated on the third floor next to a window looking out to the train tracks. I was pleasantly surprised that even on a Friday night we were seated so quickly and no one else seated in our immediate area. The music was a little loud but still doable to talk over it. Service was quick, kind, knowledgeable, and performed very well overall. Food and drinks were all brought very quickly, orders were all correct, and food and drinks were delicious. A couple of us had the burgers with fries and couple others had soups and wings (shared). I was especially pleasantly surprised by the fries and homemade house ranch which was awesome. Hard to find fries salted correctly seasoned with some herbs. Burger patties were thin but put together and cooked and seasoned very well. We would definitely suggest and recommend to others and we will be back. P.S. Everything from construction of the building, decorative touches, and the bathrooms.

Yelp
Weeknight dinner on the rooftop included a couple burgers, the pulled pork sandwich, and the wings. The burgers (mine with an egg AND bacon) were best we get in OP. Yes, Scratch, sorry about that. It's the array of flavors that just work so well - a beefy burger with semi-chewy brioche, arugula, tomato jam... The burger alone will get us back there many times. Their handling of the fries is also excellent - thick cut but still crispy on outside with aioli dip is delicious. But, the roof deck is unlike anything you can do around here - panoramic view of the west side of city with pergola and lights overhead, trains clacking by occasionally. Big bar at one end with two TV's. Really wonderful atmosphere that feels someplace else. Combined with excellent food, they succeed where Avenue Ale house fails so miserably. So, THAT'S something to come back for regularly too. And, finally, the beer. I'm not a connoisseur of micro-breweries. Usually a little hesitant about them because I don't care for the ubiquitous IPA. Here, we ordered 5 of their offerings, four in my flight, on in her pint. ALL were very good and represented a wide array of flavors. So, if you're not a beer freak, get the blonde ale and you're all set, it's not in your face but it's not overly simple either. They had just rolled out their craft cocktail list and we didn't choose to try anything there. But, if they bring the same commitment to those as the food and the beer, I'm excited to try them next time out. The busboy service was a little off. We left our table and it was still piled with all our empty dishes, it was odd. Really just a flaw in 1-2 employees, the rest of staff was super friendly and informative. The vibe inside is a little unconventional because of the space. First floor is cozy modern pub feel with a gorgeous and clever beer bottle chandelier overhead. The middle floor feels like tables scattered on landings, not a cohesive room. Aforementioned roof deck is brilliant. Thankfully the food and beer is the same throughout.

Yelp
The wife and I came here a few weeks after opening and thought One Lake was okay. Nothing special about it just yet. They were doing some weird reservation thing but half the upstairs was empty. We made reservations and were let in early, which was appreciated, but it was still weird none the less given they had so many people waiting downstairs. Their beers are average. I think this place will truly shine when they get a little character. Glad to see a brewery in the neighborhood however. Can't wait until all the kinks are worked out and this place really shows us what they're made of.

Yelp
I went to One Lake Brewing with a group of colleagues from the city. The ride on the L or even in the car is super easy (most took the L but a couple took a car). The waitress was great; described the beers to a T! While I tend to gravitate towards pilsners and lagers, I explored two flights and really enjoyed them all. Very reasonably priced. This is truly small batch beer and the love and care that goes into it shines through in every glass. The food was definitely gastropub and paired well with the beer. Very fresh, inventive and flavorful. The decor is really beautiful with a lot of the historical touches remaining in tact. I look forward to exploring the menu and for the summer months when the rooftop reopens! This place is a real treat for all, beer drinkers, craft cocktail lovers, and wine drinkers alike!

Yelp
Stopped by with friends and only ordered beers; they have a great variety of beers. Beautiful Inside decor as well.

Yelp
Had the best experience! Here is the story : We drove in from Ohio. The drive was long and we had the misfortune of arriving at rush hour. It took us forever to get ten miles. We wanted to go to a cafe specializing in Romanian food, but they aren't open on Wednesdays. We were hungry, it was getting late, we saw that One Lake serves food, so we were in. The place is nice, clean, pretty. We sat down and it took a couple minutes for our server to get to us because the place was full. We asked her to please put in an order of fries immediately because we have a toddler who needed food as soon as possible. She was ON IT! The fries came fast and everything else came at a reasonable speed. The beer was great. The food was great. Our server was great. Dessert was strange and new and delicious. The bus boys were on top of everything. Management and the host/owner (tall, blonde woman) were friendly and out and greeting guests. I asked the manager for a drink and he brought it to us quickly. They all made friends with our son too. This place is very accommodating to families. On my way out, I stopped to tell the manager what a great experience it was. I met the owners too! Everyone was so nice and so friendly. They even knew our AirBnB! It felt like a neighborhood joint, which I guess it is, just not MY neighborhood. Too bad. I'd come here all the time if it were closer.

Yelp
Their Hop Corn" is truly awful, tasting of stale beer. Their Strawberry Fields cocktail was like drinking from a gasoline can. A $16 hamburger should not be average; ask Au Cheval. Nice looking place that adds to a neighborhood that has seen its better days.

Yelp
Fantastic! Great indoor and outdoor seating, including a great rooftop. Beers are on the lighter side, so you're not going to find too many beer snobs here, but the ones on tap are top-notch. The atmosphere is a little loud, but pretty typical of places with so many hard surfaces. The food is a solid "A", but they really need to add fried chicken because when you're on the roof all you can smell is the Churches Chicken across the street!

Yelp
One Lake Brewing never disappoints. I tried the Sangria and chicken sandwich tonight. Both were awesome! Hubby had the Buffalo wings and they were tasty as well. Kyle, the waiter is always friendly and makes sure you're having a great experience. Thanks Kyle!

Yelp
Went to One Lake this week with my husband and one-year-old for our first restaurant visit since February and pre-Covid times. It was also our first time at One Lake and we loved it! Everyone was friendly and they were taking all the appropriate Covid precautions. The roof top is really nice. We got a beer sampler and liked all the beers, I especially liked the lager. Food was delicious. I got the beet ans goat cheese wrap and my husband got the burger. Support this great local restaurant and brewery! They also do carry-out (beer and food) and delivery. They aren't doing indoor seating at the moment and I suspect it will be too cold soon for the rooftop, though they have installed heat lamps and wind breakers, so those may be the only options soon but I'm not sure. In any case, great beer, great food, and friendly staff.

Yelp
Beautiful interior and solid rooftop deck. Strictly follow COVID guidelines in terms of masks, social distancing, etc. which was nice. Food was excellent and prices are reasonable for the quality of the food. Great variety of beer but prices are fairly high for the sizes of the pours (-1 star). Have crowlers to take home but, again, at incredibly high prices. Great for a nice evening out, but not sure I would make the trek from the city again.

Yelp
Well, we're close. Actually, the closest house in Oak Park (I had to say it since I've been bragging about that all along). The crew at One Lake have thought through nearly every aspect of customer experience before opening. My wife and I were delighted to have been invited to "preview" the space a couple of weeks prior as were other immediate neighbors, which was a fabulous touch. The owners provided a personal tour, touching on all the historical aspects of the building and how the design honors the space and local artisans. What a wonderful gesture. The food is really, really good. Strangely so for only being open for a couple of days. As far as the beer, look out 3 Floyds, because One Lake is going to be a powerhouse brewery with food and views to boot. One Lake is the complete package. Thank you for investing in the neighborhood. Hats off to you! If you need to find me, I'll be belly-up here for the foreseeable future.
