On the Grid : One Line Coffee

"A locally-owned and operated coffee bar and roaster located in the Short North. Home to our favorite coffee in the city, One Line provides more than just a hot (or cold) beverage. The staff is made up of friendly-but-serious (and nationally-ranked) baristas that walk you through every step of the drink-making process to make sure you are thoroughly satisfied (and caffeinated). Without them, we here at FORT would have a hard time making through the post-lunch crash and we’re proud to call them our friends." - Fort

I am staying at Graduate hotel. I can see how lot of poeple going to the cafe everyday. I figure the place out a favorite coffee shop in Ohio. This cafe is composed natural and comfortable. The staff have skilled at making coffee serveral way. And their quality is always excellent. Prices are fair not expensive. Located at a prime spot in the Short North,

I was out for a walk after a session at the convention center and happens on this place. Small, under renovation, but every seat was filled! Excellent coffee and great barista. Glad I stopped.

If you like cold brew or any ice black coffee, “Kyoto” here is a must must try, the best of the best. They might not use the same bean every time, but the one currently (20250314) has fantastic floral and sweet taste, like the lavender tea. Might be the best cold brew I’ve ever had this year.

Proper shots. Great coffee. Craft/Specialty coffee well roasted, well crafted. Good service. Odd space with coffee station in center, seems space could be used more efficiently.

Google
My favorite coffee shop in Ohio (and most other places too). I love everything about this cafe. The staff are always accommodating, relaxed and skilled at making coffee in a variety of ways. The selection of beans and their quality is always excellent. Prices are fair and even a basic drip coffee here has the complexity of flavor that other shops might pass off as a pour over. The environment is just right. Situated at a prime spot in the Short North, it is cozy and quiet with enough life it isn’t boring. The taste in music of the staff is original and thoughtful.

Google
My family and I all got different lattes to try and they were amazing. The orange creamsicle was my favorite followed by the banana bread. The coffee is smooth and robust, but not bitter. Will be visiting again if I am ever in the area.

Google
Awesome coffee! Friendly service and although a small spot and quite busy, they got orders turned out pretty quick. Enjoyed the maple latte today, plan to make this a routine stop for my morning walks.

Google
Easily the most delicious muffin I’ve ever had. Blueberry btw. My fiancée didn’t even share a bite of the tomato basil scone. Very out of character for her usual “hey try this” lifestyle. The honey latte was a solid 8.5… out of 5! Great music. Super clean. Super friendly service. Do yourself a favor.

Yelp
After being whisked out the door at Park Service coffee after asking for regular milk in my coffee, I walked a few blocks to One Line. Great coffee shop vibe, vibrant and relaxing at the same time.

Yelp
I woke up after a horrible night's sleep with an aggressive craving for some good coffee. Decided to check out this cafe on the way into work, as I've heard lots of good things. It did not disappoint. I always come to the Lox across the street for bagels but I might have to start coming here more often too! I ordered the honey latte and the tomato basil scone. The scone was super fresh and buttery and delicious with tons of sun dried tomatoes. I think warming it would have put it over the top but it was still pretty good at room temp. The honey latte was just what it needed to be to hit the spot, not too sweet, a little floral and oh so creamy and frothy. Craving satisfied. The service was pretty chill without being pretentious, all the baristas seemed super hip which I think is a prerequisite to good coffee lol. Ambiance is also super simple and clean but homey and welcoming. I just came to enjoy the coffee but there were a couple people having coffee chats and working on laptops, so it definitely works as a study space. My only gripe with this spot is the cost, $7 for a 12 oz latte is pretty steep in my opinion... I wouldn't say it was worth it but I also wouldn't say it wasn't. Will definitely be back soon to try the maple latte, as I was torn between the maple and honey!
google avatar

Yelp
Ambiance: pretentious Service: short Product: terrible Trying to be nice but it was an insane experience. From start to finish it was negative. In no way is this an exaggeration, it was literally the worst cup of coffee I've ever had. Ended up going to Tim Horton.

Yelp
When I complained about the awful coffee at my cute hotel, The Graduate, the front desk person told me to run across the street to One Line: "It has the best coffee in Ohio," she said. I always listen to locals. I ordered a large cappuccino (they only have one size, alas), which was excellent. The barrister said if I wanted extra-large I should order a latte, which I did the next day. Also excellent.

Yelp
Great coffee!!! Knowledgeable baristas. Highly recommend the maple or honey lattes. They are both amazing. The coffee station is right in the middle with seating in the front and back. Street parking is easy. And it's an easy walk from the convention center.
google avatar

Yelp
Popped in during the short north gallery walk and grabbed a hibiscus tea. It was delicious and the shop is so cute!
google avatar

Gabby S.

Yelp
One line coffee is a cute coffee shop located in the short north and a great spot for yummy coffee. We got a vanilla latte and the honey latte, both were very good! I've also had their maple latte in the past and loved it! The service is very quick and there's a few tables inside to sit and do work. We really love this shop and their coffee in Cbus!
google avatar

Yelp
Mmmmmmmmmmm. One line has the smoothest honey latte out there. It just is warm, silky with just the right sweetness. The shop is off High St just a tad north of Bollinger Street. Twinkle lights cascade from the top of the street front window adding charm to this cute shope. The shop itself is small-ish. Nice brick walls and a central coffee station give it then perfect balance. The coffee is excellent. i have had many types there. My fav is the honey latte. Its just smooth and delicious. They have bakery items there as well: scones, muffins, stuffed biscuits. I havent tried the biscuits... but the scones are crazy good. If you find yourself in the short north, stop in and give them a try. I bet you will really be glad you did.

Yelp
When traveling I always look for a great local roaster to visit and staying nearby in the Short North, One Line jumped out as the right call. The tell for me is always a large variety of single origin offerings, which is exactly what I saw in photos and found walking in. They obviously take coffee seriously here, which I appreciate. I ordered a pour over of an experimental process that felt like it would deliver some nuance and complexity, and a vanilla oat milk latte for a friend. While they were being made I perused their beans to see which lost puppy was coming home with me. I was torn and let the barita's bias influence my decision more than I should have and chose on a naturally processed Ethiopian varietal grown in Central America just because it sounded different. The other contender was an anaerobic natural Javan coffee. I haven't had many Javan coffees or anaerobic coffees, so this should've been my call, but I am enjoying the one I chose too. I'm giving four stars primarily because of service. I enjoy visiting local roasters to learn about their approach to coffee and what has them excited about it. I could tell there was some real thought in the coffees on offer, and the descriptions on the bags were super helpful, but unfortunately I didn't get a sense of any passion or enthusiasm for the products from my interaction with the barista. In fact, I probably would have left with two bags if she had shown an interest in telling me about them. I visited mid-month and noticed the bag I chose had a roast date at the beginning. Knowing I wouldn't be drinking it until the last week of June and understanding that flavor degrades around 3 weeks after roast, I asked for a bag that had been roasted more recently, and the way she responded assumed I knew none of that and was just a bit off putting. She did eventually go find a bag roasted about a week later, which I very much appreciated. This is a very solid coffee roaster still. The sourcing is on point, the storytelling and detail on each bag very transparent, and the roast profiles develop significant and interesting flavors. Highly recommend!

Yelp
The peppermint mocha was fantastic! This coffee shop had such a cozy vibe. The employees were really nice.
google avatar

Matt J.

Yelp
This location is convenient and located near a park. Excellent service and top quality coffee. I would recommend iced honey latte. The mocha was also good.

Yelp
My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE COFFEE. The only reason to visit Ohio if we're being honest. Balanced, smooth, no flavor necessary. From farm to roaster to me? I am in! Thank you!!! 10/10.

Stacey B.

Yelp
Incredibly fresh coffee! Takes a bit to get your beverage but that's because it's so fresh. The ambiance is nice and service friendly as well. Will be back.
google avatar

Chaeso Y.

Yelp
(Visited back in may) Apricot almond is an interesting combination of flavors and was amazingly good. It's probably just mixture of syrups but the flavor was so unique and tasty. It would have been even better if the sweetness was controllable, it was too sweet to finish. 100% recommended flavor though.
google avatar

Jordan C.

Yelp
Grabbed an iced latte here and it was honestly on of the best I've had in a long time. Service was quick. They have some seating inside if you need a place to work from or a spot to meet friends.
google avatar

Rainie Y.

Yelp
Nice servers + coffee shop but the matcha did not have any matcha flavor at all. The color was very light green and disregarding color, it just tasted like oat milk. I asked for light syrup but matcha latte flavor shouldn't rely on syrup, disappointed. Can't speak for their coffee.
google avatar

Richie W.

Yelp
I ordered the Matcha latte. Personally, I think the prices are a little too high. I ended up paying $7.65 for a small. Although, the inside was clean, the staff was nice, and my drink was prepared well. It's just too high of a price for what it's worth.
google avatar

Nazneen K.

Yelp
It's been a minute since I reviewed this place. Now that I've settled into Cbus more and go to One Line almost every second day, I have to say, its time to add the extra star. I've resorted to their matcha lattes and I have to say it's the best one in the short north!! I also love that they added a cortado! Ps: now they just need to add a matcha tonic and it'll be bumpin :)

Lorella C.

Yelp
Really good coffee!! Went first thing in the morning and they had a Peruvian drip. 10/10
google avatar

Shannon W.

Yelp
Got a 12 oz latte with honey syrup. It was really good! Not overly sweet, but flavorful. There was strong espresso flavor. The milk was a bit over-foamed for my liking. Would come back again for coffee. Did not try a pastry today but they had plenty of biscuits and cinnamon rolls. They offered free Wi-Fi and several tables and high top seating which is good for getting some work done.

Yelp
Good coffee with a story! This might be the first time I learned the whole origin story of a store based on Yelp reviews! Seems neat inside; I'm not too much of a coffee connoisseur but I do enjoy a nice cup. They have "market prices" for their coffee which may suggest a different level of sophistication. I'm barely on board with third wave coffee! Staff is friendly and help make suggestions. The staff seems to make a game of the guest count; about 100 came in by noon on a Monday but that same number came within one hour of opening on Saturday. It's my first time in "Short North" so didn't know the seasonal variation of customer traffic.
google avatar

Ryan C.

Yelp
Amazing. Absolutely some of the best coffee I've had. Quaint location and friendly staff. Definitely worth ditching the "big box" store for a stop - you will NOT regret it.
google avatar

Keith B.

Yelp
I never wrote a review for here? It's my coffee spot before or after a haircut. Or when I am walking around the area. I have worked from this location, I've relaxed here, pre-Covid and on. Plain and simple - it's good coffee and tea. It's a good coffee shop - I wish they had more space, but then again, that could ruin the ambiance. The staff? Always awesome. They're attentive to the customers, they know what they're making, and it's simply put - good coffee. It's a whole vibe, and it's an awesome spot, with good coffee and good people.
google avatar

Amelie F.

Yelp
This is actually the best coffee I've ever had. The service is always amazing and the location has such a great vibe to it. I love trying all the different flavorings in their iced latte. I had an apricot one that was life changing
google avatar

Rachel B.

Yelp
Cute little coffee shop near the Hilton, there isn't a ton of seating so be aware of that. Had a delicious cappuccino with oat milk. I loved the "meet your barista" board and all the coffee related artwork like the taste profile wheel. They also have sugar free vanilla syrup!
google avatar

Laura R.

Yelp
I loved this coffee shop, not only was the honey latte absolutely delicious, but the service was excellent and it's very ‍ friendly which matters.
google avatar

Erin P.

Yelp
One Line Coffee has such a great environment. A morning pick up of coffee can be your first interaction with people of the day and they make you feel loved and welcomed. Their conversations and intentional connections always make their customers walk out with a happy attitude. Oh... and the coffee is amazing too! As well as the well affordable price. Thank you One Line Coffee!
google avatar

Jared W.

Yelp
I'm not a huge fan of One Line Coffee after visiting a few times. Their espresso and Americano are both very fruity, so subjectively I don't enjoy them as much as many other coffee shops. I've been largely underwhelmed by the coffees I've ordered as well. The service has ranged from friendly to over-charging me for an extra shot of espresso, and they have typically been fairly slow, even when not especially busy. The space inside isn't that large and is a bit noisy to talk with a friend or work. Overall, I would choose a different coffee shop given the plethora of great options in Columbus.
google avatar

Brandon P.

Yelp
Came across them gem as it was across the street from the hotel we were staying at. Wow did we hit the jackpot! Not only is the coffee great but check out their story. They decided to take matters into their own hands when they didn't get the answers they were looking for. I like that, I like that a lot actually! Enjoy!
google avatar

Cindy W.

Yelp
Honey latte was super tasty! Lots of seating inside with a clean restroom - just use the key outside to unlock but remember to bring it out with you.
google avatar

Lisa Z.

Yelp
I found this place looking for a cute coffee shop that was open early with great drinks. I got their iced Honey Latte with oat milk, which sounds like a pretty popular choice, and it was AMAZING! It both had some great flavors and was super refreshing on a humid Ohio morning. Just a heads up that it does air on the sweet side, but I thought it was a good balance with the bitter espresso and definitely will be back for more! They also had a small display of baked goods up front but it looked like it was real popular - I got there around 8:30am and they were almost out!
google avatar

Meredith R.

Yelp
Stayed across the street for a work trip and wandered over morning one. Friendliest barista and delicious coffee. Came back three more times because ... why change a good thing? I look forward to more work trips so I can continue to support this lovely spot with my extremely boring coffee order.
google avatar

Yelp
Three years have gone by since I first left a review for One Line Coffee and today is the day I update my rating from a four star to a raving five star! From the outside, this coffee shop might look relatively the same as it did several years ago. On the inside, it's a different story. Other than the COVID health and safety guidelines, the space has been updated a little bit. The counter, cashier, and barista station is updated and I think the flooring too. I know they were doing work on it several months back. However, the biggest difference I've noticed is the people working there. In the past, they were my least favorite, the coffee was the one thing that kept me coming back. Nowadays, they are so incredibly friendly, helpful, like to make conversation, are quick to make your drink, etc. While everyone is in masks, you can tell they're smiling. This is exactly what I want from my baristas and I'm very pleased to have noticed the shift. I've even been coming back more and more lately because of it. Pretentious coffee snobs, be gone. Fun, happy community barista, here to stay (I hope)!! Pro tip - try one of their seasonal drinks. They always kill it! I'm currently hooked on their gingersnap latte with real ginger. Holy moley, it's good af.

Yelp
One Line Coffee has two locations, one in the Short North and one in Franklinton. It has a nice amount of table and counter seating inside with lots big windows that let in lots of light. We decided on one of their signature drinks, the honey latte. We ordered and received our coffee very quickly. It was hot but not too hot which I loved. It had nice flavor and was not too sweet. Love that I was able to start the Columbus Coffee Trail at this location and look forward to visiting again soon.
google avatar

Kenny D.

Yelp
I tried their two signature lattes, the maple syrup and the honey. They were both fantastic. The maple is clearly a bit sweeter so if that's your thing get it. Honey is a bit more understated but equally tasty. The coffee is 5 stars, hands down! I also tried some scones, coffee cake and cinnamon roll. The desserts are ok but nothing special. The coffee cake and cinnamon roll were both too sweet, and the scones were just ok, nothing special. Moral to the story: skip the sweets and stick to the coffee because the coffee is a winner! It's all downhill from there.
google avatar

William L.

Yelp
Wow! What a great coffee shop. I'm in town for a conference and I needed a little pick me up after lunch. Having discovered that this coffee place is a fairly easy walk from the hotel, I figured I'd give it a shot after reading the great reviews. Once again, Yelpers didn't steer me wrong! I ordered a cappuccino and it was smooth and delicious. I don't add any sugar to my cappuccino so that I can enjoy the flavor of the espresso and the milk, and this is also how I determine if the cappuccino is good or not. There was no bitter after taste and you can taste the subtle nuance of their in-house roasted beans. I then asked the barista for her recommendation between the honey latte and the maple latte since I was intrigued. She recommended the maple but said the honey is their best seller. I got the maple to go, along with a bag of beans to take home with me, and the maple latte was also delicious. Not too sweet at all! I definitely will be back to try the honey latte before I leave! The shop also looks like it would be a great place to work, though space seems limited. In any case, I highly recommend this coffee shop.

Yelp
Comfy atmosphere. Quick and excellent service and most importantly, phenomenal coffees and breakfast treats.

Jen K.

Yelp
A great cup of coffee, a great environment, and great service! The stuffed biscuits are amazing!

Kelly B.

Yelp
Has the best iced matcha here! & it was all organic, nothing artificial. It was a super cute spot and the employees were very sweet!
google avatar

Pauline K.

Yelp
Excellent location to catch up on work for people who work from home or are attending school. Weekday mornings are peaceful, and the lattes are excellent. The service is excellent. The staff members here are helpful and courteous. They use fresh ingredients and you can taste the difference. I will definitely be back to have a drink and do some work.

Kirk T.

Yelp
Fantastic Espresso Bar with Baristas who really know their beans!! Went in for a cortado, and my barista, Sky, made it three times until he got the right amount of grind and infusion on the Slayer to make a perfect and delicious shot of espresso! Staff were friendly and made me feel right at home!!
google avatar

Jennifer J.

Yelp
All the vibes that you want from coffee shop. Signs of inspiration, inclusivity, and support. Good coffee's great selection of tees. I wanted an ice tea and they made me want and it was delicious. Staff was cool and inviting. Nice chill vibe to work read and in a great location.
google avatar

Cecil G.

Yelp
Super chill spot. Great drinks and with a ton of variety. They aren't gonna break your pockets like Starbucks while tasting (arguably) better. Would highly recommend
google avatar

Carly C.

Yelp
Every time I walk in the door I'm greeted by my favorite baristas in Columbus! They know my my order by heart and always have plenty of specialty or seasonal drinks to choose from when I want to change it up. They offer locally sourced milk and syrups, with the additional option for all of the alternative milks. I always look forward to getting my daily coffee from here. It can get busy in the mornings, so be sure to allow a few extra minutes to get your order during peak hours!
google avatar

Kristie C.

Yelp
Oat milk cappuccino? In Columbus! Who knew hipster swanky cool coffee shops existed in Columbus? Certainly not me! Lots of options here for one cup drip brews, espresso and other specialty drinks. Friendly service, limited bakery items for sale
google avatar

Jason T.

Yelp
The first thing you notice upon walking in to one line coffee is a modest modern country atmosphere, and of course the smell. The glorious coffee aroma is like a dance party in your olfactory system. The staff was very friendly and answered any questions that I had, and seem to have extensive knowledge about the roasting and brewing processes. The only areas for improvement in my humble opinion would be to move the service area deeper into the building so they're able to have a bit more seating, and their customers could walk by products (i.e. travel mugs, French press kits, etc.) that they would likely purchase while waiting in line because the coffee is worth waiting for! They served a delicious cold brew, but unfortunately did not have a nitro cold brew option which would've made it a five star review for me personally. The prices felt modest, and I paid less than I expected to. If you've never tried one line coffee I highly recommend it. I'll be going back to purchase a pound to bring home.
google avatar

Kay K.

Yelp
Get the honey latte!!! This is what one line is known for and it's definitely their best drink that is on the menu year round. It's like a 6-7 on the sweetness scale, so not super crazy sweet but definitely a good and warm cozy drink. The atmosphere here is comfortable, bright and great for working or meeting up with someone to chat!
google avatar

Ashley W.

Yelp
If you enjoy a quick coffee in a cozy, eclectic, type of space then look no more. One Line Coffee offers up the standard cappuccino, espresso, and latte drinks. But tend to have more experimental drinks as well, I have had a rose coffee spritzer before and it was weird but interesting. You walk in initially the counter is in the center of the space. The coffee machines are anchored in the middle of the room and there's seating alongside the wall and stools and benches if you want to stand. They make a really decent cappuccino hence why I keep coming back. Also some croissant, and bread fair for the hungry patron. There's such cool designs to be seen in the art of coffee. So check this place out if you happen to be in the Short North Area!
google avatar

Jeff M.

Yelp
Hit the caffeine spot. Great service and great coffee. Will grab my coffee there when I am staying in the short north anytime.
