Denver’s Best Chinese Restaurants | Eater Denver

"While Taiwanese-style tea shops have bubbled up all across town in the past couple of years, this one’s special for its food. In addition to a wide range of satisfying snacks, including popcorn chicken and juicy pork buns as well as seafood balls and marinated meats, it also excels at hand-pulled and shaved noodles. Try them both dry and in soup with beef shank or pork rib — the broth alone is a 10-hour labor of love." - Ruth Tobias

The beef brisket shaved noodle soup was flavorful, but not overly salty. The portion of beef was generous and the price was very reasonable (~$15). The broth was pretty light, similar to pho but a bit different. The buns were good, but I'm not sure I would get them again unless sharing with a large group as an appetizer (just personal taste). Staff was friendly and welcoming. It's a hole in the wall spot, inside the Volcano Tea, but plenty of tables. Would rate 4.5 stars but rounding up to 5. Limited menu, but tasty and affordable.

Came in on a Thursday evening and sat down right away with my partner. This spot is a combo cafe/restaurant with milk teas and noodles. Customer service was attentive and polite. We ordered the hand pulled soup noodles with beef brisket and shaved fried noodle with beef shank, also an order of the mini pork buns. The food came out in a reasonable time and the quality of the food was remarkable. The shop owner came out and talked to us about the freshness of the preparation and was beaming with pride. It was clear that great care was taken to provide these delicious dishes. The noodle soup was a familiar riff on traditional Taiwanese beef noodle soup. This one stood out with its flavorful broth and tender brisket. The stir fried shaved noodles had great flavor with a bite from sichuan peppercorns. Flavor bomb. The pork buns were freshly prepared with a bites of juicy broth escaping from the chewy dumpling skin. There was also a great cooking wine flavor in the preparation. Would recommend to anyone who wants to try some delicious Taiwanese food.

A delicious "hole in the wall" restaurant with great food and great customer service! My husband finished his chow hand pulled noodles with slice beef shank relatively fast due to enjoying his meal. I ordered the chow hand pulled noodles with beef brisket and ate some of it while in the restaurant. We asked for a to-go box for my leftovers since I really enjoyed the food. Aside from the kind person that took our orders, another worker (she was the one who brought us our food) was also kind and actually placed my leftovers in the to-go box. Overall great food and great customer service!

Google
Absolutely NOT hand pulled noodles. There was no flavor in the noodles either. The excellent reviews are so puzzling. It smelled like sour dirty socks just walking in. The workers were pleasant enough (2stars for service not becausethey were unpleasant but because its not as advertised. I just expect real hand pulled noodles when thats what's advertised. All the photos on here are perfect circle noodles. These are not hand pulled. Had to doctor the dish to eat it as otherwise was just greasy and no flavor. Please do let me know if you gave me the wrong dish, cause id love to get real authentic hand pulled noodles. Ill even change the review and be just as honest. Let me know

Really spectacular and authentic Chinese noodles. The broth of the noodle soup is so flavorful (stewed for 8 hours), whereas the stir-fried noodles are really great too. Our family usually gets a mixture of the two styles. You can also order the hand-pulled (or shaved) noodles to go and cook them to go. These noodles make our dishes at home so much better too. FYI, the sign outside just says volcano tea house.

Wow. First time having pulled noodles with soup and was blown away. Broth, you can tell they take time to make and pull noodles amazing. All the food is cooked to order. I had the brisket in my soup along, pork buns, dumplings, and fried pork chop. Cozy little place and amazing service and prices. It's good if you have done too much Ramen and Pho and want to try a Chinese power broth. I will come again. Oh and also amazing Milk Teas!!!

Google
This is the epitome of incredible homemade, quality, authentic Chinese food, and the best I've had. It's a completely unassuming little place with a limited menu, and they perfect the items they offer for ordering. Tip: You will need to look for Volcano Tea, which is the Boba tea portion of their menu, since it's not clearly marked as One More Noodle from the car. Plenty of parking. We were on a trip for 8 days, and this was 1 of 2 places that we went back to a second time (and likely would have made it a third if we tried it earlier in our trip - it was our last dinner in Denver). The first time I had the hand-pulled noodle beef brisket soup and split an order of mini pork buns with my daughter. Her order was the pork rib pulled noodle stir fry. We ordered at the counter, not realizing that if we dined in, we could sit down and someone would come take our order. Once we sat down, we were brought water immediately and welcomed again. The broth had layers and layers of flavor that must have been slowly and patiently achieved by the owner/chef. The noodles were not only flavorful, but the texture was spot-on, as were the vegetables. I saved the beef for last for a reason - it was perfection. Tender, jam-packed with rich flavor, and complimented all the other elements in the bowl exactly how it should have. The pork buns were light, soft, and also had the taste of homemade, but GOOD homemade. The kind that make people say to someone, "you should open a restaurant and sell these!" The stir-fried pulled noodle with pork ribs that my daughter had was equally excellent. I can agree with her assessment that the pork ribs and noodles were a dish to savor, and surprisingly light for stir-fried noodles (this dish was NOT oily or overcooked). When we returned the second time, the owner recognized us and warmly greeted us, letting us know that the pork buns had sold out (a testament to their popularity), but that was fine with us. We were going to eat our main dishes like it was an Olympic sport. We changed up a little bit on the 2nd visit: I did the shaved noodles with the beef brisket soup and my daughter doubled the noodles in her dish. After that second meal, we can attest to the consistency of the food, the friendliness and warmth of the restaurant overall, and how much we already miss this food.

Google
Authentic. Chinese. Hand Pulled. Noodles. My Chinese wife and I both love this hole in the wall find we tried on a whim (and barely found). It’s called Volcano Tea House on exterior. We both say Shaved Noodle > Hand pulled. I like the beef shank stir fry, spicy. My wife likes the soup with pork rib. Broth is well done—flavorful! Spicy popcorn chicken is yummm. Great portions and price. Same staff all the time—super friendly. Must try if you like authentic Chinese noodles.

Yelp
I had the shrimp ball snack and beef shank with hand shaved noodles soup. Fast and friendly service of ordering, seating and receiving food. Clean and quiet dining room. Food was flavorful and filling. First time trying the shrimp balls. Not one of my favorites. I prefer pan fried dumplings, popcorn chicken and lobster balls as a snack with my soup.

Yelp
This place was great to try and for some reason very hard to find! I found out that it was located under the sign that says volcano tea house which was confusing but I eventually found it and placed my order for their most popular item. I ordered the hand pulled noodles with beef brisket and it tasted great. The soup wasn't as flavorful as I wanted it to be, but the beef and hand pulled noodles were tender and tasty. If you are shopping at Hmart in Aurora I would stop in and give this place a shot if you enjoy this type of food.

Yelp
This restaurant is SO good, and that's not an exaggeration. If you come here for amazing boba tea or the splendid Chinese food, you'll be presently surprised by how authentic and delicious it is. This is the perfect place to stop by for a little slushy or a little boba tea on your way to work. The staff is extremely nice and I can't emphasize just how pleasant the experience is. The noodles in this place are heavenly and it's definitely worth the little time waiting for your meal!

Yelp
This place is absolutely amazing!!! (I used three exclamation marks to emphasize my point). This place is run by this sweet old lady that is soooooo nice! The food is exquisite and top tier, as well as the boba tea. I urge anyone out there who is interested in traditional Chinese food to come here and try it out. This is by far the most authentic Chinese food I've ever had in Colorado and I'm Chinese! If anyone works near Aurora I highly recommend you try this place out, on your lunch break or for dinner!

Yelp
Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance : 4/5 The store front says Volcano tea house and I wouldn't typically get beef noodle soup at a boba place but I'm glad I gave it a try! Authentic spot for beef noodle soup. They have the lighter cleaner soup style. The brisket was so tender and they gave a decent amount of meat. I didn't even realize I was craving milk tea when this spot popped up on the list of restaurants. The staff checked on me multiple times and explained the sauces. Initially upon entering you may notice a weird smell..that would be my only complaint for this spot.

Yelp
The service was decent and the food was okay. The beef was tender and the broth was well balanced however, the noodles were way overcooked. It didn't have the springy texture or freshness of handmade noodles. Now the reason why I ranked 2 stars was the water! The water tasted really bad. It had this stale taste due to old ice. I took one sip and I just couldn't get over it and my friend made the same comment. Please change the water filter or replace the ice!

Yelp
Wish I could give 4.5 stars! Food was SOOOOO GOOD, actually caught me off guard because it didn't look spectacular and the menu/pictures did not do it justice. But the noodles and broth were super yummy! The staff were fairly friendly as well. Try the hand-pulled noodles! Only had to take off a star because there was an unappealing smell inside the restaurant and parts of it looked like it could use some updating or a refresh.

Yelp
It's definitely a bit surprising because it's located at a boba tea shop. It makes for a funky smell in the place with the sugar milk tea and the broth steam in the air. Because all orders are at the counter, it was a bit of a wait. However, I was pleasantly surprised - the noodles were perfectly cooked and I liked the difference in texture due to the shaved noodles. The soup itself was very comforting for the cold weather and the meat was so tender.

Yelp
The food here was super yummy and everything was made to order. I especially loved the crispy pork chop and the beef shank. The noodles had a good chew even 40 minutes later since I got takeout and they were perfect with just a little bit of chili oil. The sign outside says volcano tea house, so it's a bit tricky to find. You can also get bubble tea and other snacks here.

Yelp
When trying to look for this place, I was under the impression it was called One More Noodle. I believe they used to be but they changed their name to Volcano Tea House. The place is a little hard to find since it's off to the side but it's definitely worth a visit! I got the dry stir-fried shaven noodles with beef brisket (highly recommend), popcorn chicken, and a taro milk tea for under $25 which is honestly a good price. The staff were also really nice and friendly as well. I went when it was a little quiet and the owner took the time to talk to me. Very sweet woman and she told me that their noodles are made very healthy with no additives other than salt. Would recommend if you're in the area!

Yelp
Been here twice and food was really good, the drinks are also great, they default to light ice which I LOVE!

Yelp
I'll take many more noodles from here! It's located in the same place as the tea shop but has some signs up. We were warmly greeted and told to grab a seat. We were handed two menus, one for one more noodle and one for the tea shop. The first things up were the beef shank hand cut noodles. Yummy, the Szechuan peppercorns and beef sang in my mouth 5/5. Next up were some pan fried dumplings, might have been my favorite thing we got 6/5. The last thing that we got was the popcorn chicken, it was pretty good but needed a sauce. The person helming the place gave us a sweet and spicy sauce and that really elevated the chicken 4/5. Since we got a tea menu, we had to order something and so we got a coffee slushy, it was sweet and hit the spot! It's definitely on our radar when we're in the area. The prices were great and the service was out of this world, a hidden gem!

Yelp
The inhouse hand made noodles are sooo delicious and the service is excellent. We also had chive dumplings, both pan fried and steamed and bauzi, all were very delicious. This place is clean and ambiance is great. Would definitely go again.
