One Nostalgia Tavern

Really nice bar! Kent is the owner, and he's pretty cool. He doesn't tolerate rudeness. All of the bartenders I've l met, Andrea, Chase, Nicole, are all very nice too! Good place for karaoke and good drinks that aren't super expensive. So long as you're polite to everyone, you'll love it here!

What could have been a great vintage-y, dive bar experience is ruined on each visit by the ever-present Owner who stands on guard with his aggressive Hall Monitor vibes. He is rude and condescending toward customers, probably not realizing that he is actively pushing them out (and that there’s plenty of other places to go). The other employees are gracious and hard-working but the Owner standing in the corner will come out to enforce unknown rules when he doesn’t like you and he dismisses any feedback. I’ve heard multiple people say that they’re not going back and I, too, have had my limit.

I’ve been here three times and the service is worse every time. The manager/owner is the least welcoming man I have ever experienced in a bar setting. It’s like he doesn’t want customers. If you want to go and listen horrible karaoke go for it. But I’ll pass.

Each of the multiple times we have been there has been a creepy, old man at a the end of the bar (might be a part of the ownership, not sure) that has made us increasingly uncomfortable the few times we have gone. He stares at us intensely everytime we have gone in and made us increasingly uncomfortable despite the bar claiming to be an open, welcoming environment for all. The most recent time myself and my partner had gone we were told an entire section of the bar (coincidentally next to the old, creepy guy) had been reserved despite their being few patrons in the bar and we were made to move. It feels increasingly racial as these types of interactions never happen to their white patrons and seemingly only happens to groups including POC. On top of this you will be charged basic amenities such as water. All of this leads to an overall uninviting environment where you are not treated correctly by the staff unless you fit a certain criteria. Will not be revisiting unless the weird, creepy, old guy at the bar is not there.

0 star review if I could. I have genuinely never had a worse experience at an establishment. The employees are horribly rude and kicked out our entire group because a few of our party are sober and do not drink.

Boycotting this place forever. Used to love coming here. However, went last night and had an awful experience. About ten people in the place, not busy. My friends and I had already sang a few songs, when my friend opted to sing a song in Spanish. The DJ told him “We can’t do that.” My friend tried to get more clarity as to why. I have been before and heard other people sing Spanish songs there. Eventually, the DJ said it was per his manager and he couldn’t do anything about it. Something about “gang bangers” coming in and taking over. We asked why they just don’t allow “gang bangers” in or to sing instead of not allowing any singing in Spanish. No good answer to that. My friend even talked to the owner of the bar and was still just told “we don’t sing in Spanish here.” Absolute blatant racism and discrimination. Latin culture is beautiful and we are blessed to have their food, music, and culture influence our daily lives here in Texas and this country. Please support your Latino friends and don’t go to this place again. Where you spend your money matters. Don’t spend it at places that uphold discriminatory and dangerous values.

Kicked us out for not ordering a drink right after we walked. Accused my friend of yelling at her when she didn’t and got mad that one of my friends didn’t tip. The ginger lady is terribly mean and a miserable person. Yelled at all of us and kicked us out even though we are well over age.

Threatened to call the cops on us because we didn’t order a drink. Ginger bob girl wanted to kick girls out that don’t drink. Not sure what the problem was. This place has terrible workers and horrible service. Would not recommend going to this place.

I love the karaoke here, and the DJ is the best there is. He makes me sound better than I deserve to and goes out of his way through take care of folks. The low review is because of one bartender. Within minutes of us walking in and finding the only open table in the back corner, she approached a friend aggressively and said that if we didn't start ordering, we'd get kicked out for loitering. Mind you, I alone had just ordered two cocktails. I heard her complaining a few minutes later about us moving chairs over -- when I was at the bar spending more money. We ordered many drinks, in fact. Yes, some people in our group weren't drinkers. But to come at us so aggressively? I was disappointed and unimpressed. Truly, I have never had more distasteful service. The two other staff members were fine. Please reconsider this approach to customer service.

All was wonderful until I was verbally assaulted - and nearly physically assaulted - by the DJ for dropping a microphone after a karaoke song. The verbal assault and physical aggression continued after I quickly and sincerely apologized. I have never before experienced such a virulently inappropriate response from bar staff. It was put me in a state of utter shock and bewilderment. If you would like to risk such a reaction to your own mistake, by all means risk attending this bar.

This place wasn't half bad, not really on the barstaff for this review... but a random fight broke out which killed most of the vibe. The cheap beer and Jungle Book selection at karaoke made up for it though.

Never had such an uncomfortable experience at a bar. Bar owner made incredibly rude comments to my friend for sitting on the POOL TABLE. So rude that my husband chimed in and said "hey that was a little rude" and we got kicked out. Then followed my husband, friend and I out and said "where's the black guy" referring to my friend. My friend walked out willingly after being asked. Would never recommend this establishment to anyone!!!!! I've also never been kicked out of a bar in my entire life. That was a first. Kent the owner is very rude. Sounds like that is a common review for him too!

Screw.this.place!! Rude staff and watered down drinks. It actually smells like dirty feet and UTIs in there. I like a dive bar but this place has zero chill as far as the workers go. It's like they're on something horribly static. I noticed the staff targeting customers and picking on them. It was disgusting how childish and unprofessional they are. Never again will I stop by for karaoke or a cocktail. Horrible place

Same experience as most are posting on here. If I could give negative stars I would. The bartender and her partner were extremely rude. When I pointed it out that she did not need to be so rude she threw "F" bombs at me and her bar mate told me to get the "F" out. I told him I would be happy to get out, once I got back to my table to tell my friends and family what happened, he came over, pushed through me, grabbed my beer and threw it on the ground. Luckily my son-in-law stepped between us and we left. I cannot believe people like this are in business serving people. I would never recommend anyone to go to this bar.

Oh wow, so after being in the bar for about 5 minutes we had the red headed female bartender (named Andrea, after seeing other terrible reviews) tell us to fuck off and the older boy who was assisting her with the black hair and goatee (chase, maybe?) throw drinks in our face after screaming that we refused to pay...when the bartender who insisted she was too busy doing her job to check ID's didn't ring us up...we were clearly still sitting in the bar area, waiting patiently to happily pay our check, and the voter guy told us to "get the fuck out", was getting physically aggressive with my father yet telling him "don't fucking touch me keep your hands off of me"...when HE was the one putting his hands on us and throwing drinks all over us and our phones. WILD!!!! It's also literally the shittiest dive bar I've ever seen, don't understand how there could be such bad fucking vibes with patrons who genuinely just want to have a good time and karaoke. Yall, THERE ARE SO MANY KARAOKE SPOTS!!! I PROMISE YOU WILL NOT REGRET GOING THERE INSTEAD, SERIOUSLY!!! Every single good review left on here is from a ghost account of their employees, it's the only explanation for this place having more than 1 stars lmaooooo Have NEVER experienced anything like this, ever, EVER!!!! Being told to "fuck off" by an employee while waiting for a check? I guess there's a first for everything! Chase and Andrea, you need help honies!!!!

I don't know what everyone is talking about with these bad reviews! We have been coming to The One for years and it's always a blast. Whether we come in on a weekend night or during the week we get the same service. Andrea & Chase are so much fun and always friendly! The bar is very clean and I have NEVER witnessed any form of racism. That's ridiculous thing to say. Seems to me that the 1 star reviews are mostly from people acting rude and entitled. Go to The One, give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

Please read. Dropped in for a cold drink on a hot day. I ordered a Vodka soda and the bartender asked, "Tito's Ok"? Good upsale I thought. "Sure". My buddy order a Vodka soda w/ a splash of cranberry - no fruit or straw - Well Vodka would be just fine...and a water back. The cocktails came in PLASTIC cups and his had the lime & straw....No Biggie, right? (But the plastic cups) She popped the top of a can and placed it in front of him. He asked what it was...she said it was water. When he explained that all he wanted was a cup of ice water, she pointed at the can and replied, "This is our policy" We shrugged our shoulders, he took a couple sips, we finished our cocktails and asked for the check. She had charged us $2.77 for a CAN of water that tasted non potable and called him "cheap cheap cheap" for ordering well vodka. When we paid the tab and Still left a tip, we were told not to come back!!!! Lol. That coming from a Barmaid that looked rode hard and put up wet. Needless to say, we will NOT BE GOING BACK, and I recommend that you avoid this place. LIKE COVID Cheers!

Updated review- the mean karaoke lady is gone...much better KJs in place. Been back several times since. This a dive of dives meaning fun crowd, grimy threadbare carpet, flowing drinks.. all under the watchful glare of the owner who will not put up with any schitt.

Came here one night with friends and the owner and bartenders were so rude. I have been here before and had a great time but this night was different. The things they were saying were not very nice to customers so we left.

Owner is rude to customers and to his employees. Find a different establishment that actually appreciates your business.

I have NEVER been more disgusted in an establishments treatment of its customers. Me and a group of my girlfriends visited this bar for my grandmothers birthday. From the minute we walked in the door we were treated absolutely appallingly. My bestfriend brought a bottle of water in due to her being sick and needing something to take her medicine with. The bartender began to cuss at us saying "Don't F***ing bring a bottle of water into a f***ing bar". Then after about twenty minutes when we could not stand the service any longer we proceeded to leave. As we walked out of the door, one of the staff members yelled through a microphone "Happy birthday you f***ing c*** " to my seventy year old grandmother. My friends and I have never been verbally harassed and mistreated like we were at "One nostalgia tavern". We will certainly never be visiting or speaking of this atrocious establishment ever again.

They wouldn't serve me because I was wearing a tank top the owner. Ken is one of the most atrociously disrespectful individuals I've ever met would not recommend if you don't want to feel like you're being judged, while trying to sit down and have a drink.

Disgusting establishment, very disrespectful and the owner was terribly rude. Racist to say the least. Bartender never greeted us and had an ego bigger than Texas. I would never recommend this establishment to ANYONE. Be warned and beware! Filing the complaints necessary to ensure no one has to endure what our group did.

Last night we went to One Nasty to celebrate my 30th birthday. I got engaged last month, so there was lots to celebrate. We were talking with this drunk lady and she pulled me up on stage and started dancing with me. She then pulled my fiancé up on stage too. He picked me up and twirled me around - that's when the owner came over to us and starting cursing profusely at us, telling us to get the f*** out. The bartender proceeds to come over and shoves my fiancé against a wall and starts threatening him. I am absolutely disgusted by their behavior, they escalated things so quickly and for no reason. Inappropriate and uncalled for.

A dive bar that meets all the criteria. Great juke box, shuffle board, pool and karaoke. Come to have fun, sing bad and drink drinks. Be cool, don't be a d**k and you'll add this dive to your go to places for a great time.

place seemed like a great spot if you're white and over 50 the manager or employee came up to me and asked me to leave bc I was wearing a tank top with no sleeves but my friend a girl had a spaghetti strap shirt no cover, but yet they only asked me to leave. Never come here. If you read my review you can assume why.

my wife and I arrived for a cocktail and we had no idea what was in store for us. the owner was cursing at a patron and another customer threw a glass at the bar. never again... we were definitely on the wrong side of town. he told us to leave because we told him his manners were terrible.

My best friend was celebrating her bachelorette and we wanted to do some karaoke! This bar was the closest on google maps and I truly wish I would've read the reviews before going...From the moment we walked in, the staff all gave us dirty looks and started snickering with each other (all of us are curvy Latino women). While we waited to order our drinks, we watched the bartender get physical with guests and the owner or manager (Kent? This name was on a jumpsuit he was wearing) sat at the end of the bar and did absolutely nothing. He was the one approving and provoking the violence! I've never experienced a bartender physically touching a guest or anyone! After seeing this, we chose to leave...never even got to order...only go here if you want to get physically assaulted! 0/5 stars

Poor service and in disrepair. Not really a good dive bar. Probably will only exist as a place for the owner to just hang out, as I doubt they make much money.

Check your bill! First time in and WILL NEVER RETURN! After multiple drinks and a high bar bill, the bartender added his own big tip with the owner sitting right there. He knows! Check your bill before paying and check your account after it clears. Better yet, DO NOT GO THERE AT ALL!! Super wrong, One Nostalgia!!!

Always a great time at one nostalgia! My husband and I always stay for drinks and karaoke when we are in the area, and have never left disappointed. Always enjoy talking with the bartenders and owner. Definitely the place to go if you are looking for an authentic bar experience and a good time!

Incredibly weird and uncomfortable experience. The bartender and owner were verbally abusing another party as we walked in. When we went to order our drinks the bartender rolled her eyes. I asked for a water a while later and was told "no". Don't waste your time or money. You might walk into a dangerous situation.

Swatting phones out of the hands of customers is never okay. Even worse when your staff defends doing so after telling a customer they are "too brown" to be served. Not surprised to read other reviews that the owner likes to use the N-word. This is 2021. Shocked to see this establishment is still behaving this way. Won't ever be back and neither will my dozens of friends.

The owner eats his fast food at the end of the bar every day while he refuses to listen to music and have a legit ambiance because he would rather watch jeopardy. Drinks are over priced for a dive bar. Wouldn't recommend.

I love this bar! I've been coming here for years and the staff and owner are exceptionally friendly! They will not however put up with women being creeped out by men or anyone showing drunk or bad behavior. Love the karaoke and service!

Visiting Dallas from LA, we decided to stop at this dive bar. I could say, this is the first time I felt discriminated against. Bar tender/owner was rude and makes you feel unwelcome. I don't recommend this bar.

We use to come here quite a bit several years ago, but after witnessing a customer get punched in the face by two older guys and then shortly after the same guys chase a second customer out of the bar and the ownership and staff encourage these actions, this will definitely be our last. This is not the same place I remember. The negative reviews are spot on. If your looking for a fight and poor service this is your place. If you're looking for a fun night out with quality service there are other dive/karaoke bars out there to spend your money and time at.

I really love this bar. I started going here almost 4 years ago when I was an intern in Dallas. I've always loved hole-in-the-wall dive bars, so I knew this would become my favorite place when I walked in. I've come to love the patrons and the staff there. Highly recommend if you're a fan of karaoke and strong drinks!

The owner and bartenders are ruining this bar. Last night a group of friends and I witnessed a guy at the bar give a girl a high five only to be punched in the face and chased out of the bar by the bartenders. The bartenders were rude and provoked the situation when it was unwarranted. I will never return to this bar again.

I went to this place last night with a group of friends and I must say this is one of the worst bars ever. The employees/ bartenders were very rude and unprofessional! My group was kicked out because we called them out on their rudeness after I was trying to order a drink. I believe there was some miscommunication but instead of handling in a professional manner they decided to act in a total unprofessional manner.

I don't know why this place is so crowded on the weekends. If you want something other than beer, look forward to way overpriced, shitty well drinks. The bartenders are insanely rude on purpose and treat people terribly. All the reviews you read about how they talk to people and treat people are accurate. My review would be way too long for anyone to read if I put all the stories I had. So just trust the one stars and other reviews and don't support this place.

Admittedly we had a good time here despite the negatives but we can have fun in a cardboard box. Drinks were kinda shitty and the service was absolutely lacking. Kind of had a cliquey feel because it seemed like the entirety of the mid 30's population of lake highlands and Lakewood were there. Probably wouldn't go back honestly.

Loved this place until the evening of May 6 when the bartender team shoved a guy to the floor and started punching him in the head. The guy was young, drunk, and defenseless. Then they started yelling and swearing at anyone attempting to step in to break it up. Force was way excessive, regardless of anything the kid did to anger them.

If I'm taking the time to write this you need to read it. I only give it one STAR because I have too. This is a, and I quote, "a shit hole in the wall!" Many of my Kareoke friends have quit attending this venue. The manger Kent and his staff are mean and bias to many of its customers. I'm a singer song writer and have been attending this place off and on for 5 years or more, I've seen the staff put hands on people, push them out, and allow others who are not staff do the same. I being one of them. I was disrespected by a group of people, who push themselves into my space, after securing my seat long before they arrived. I asked the people politely to move along before words were shared and the managers took their side and disrespectfully pushed me out. Kent has called people Niger and seems to be a bigot himself, with his conduct and with customers who don't agree with him. It's unbecoming of his management and himself to do so. One of biggest problem, it's way over crowed, no dance floor, and I've heard many customers complain and leave. The drinks are NOT strong. They use plastic cups with lots of ice. There is no food if you are wanting dinner. If you like bottle beer good luck. They charge extra for limes as well. They get you on your close out. If you don't close out they will charge the maximum 20%. I was charged $5.00 on two can beers! I learned to tip cash now although I will NEvER attend this place again. There are better alternatives. Try Dallasite Billards, Addison Point, Forney Ice House, Ronnie Rays Kareoke, Dave's Karaoke, Copperhead's Kareoke, Scooters and O'Reillys in Garland just to name a few. You would be glad you did! Well you asked for a 1 star review when I left, well here it goes. 1. If you are not a day drinking alcoholic don't think you're going to play on the pool table. ( open for a few certain friends and that's it ) Doesn't want it to have a " pool hall feel " It's only for a select few and if you're not one well then why have a pool table in the first place? The ad on google says open till 2am Was "cut off at 1am" because they said so. ( don't ask them why ) They have to the biggest dumpster fire garbage excuse of an audio system for karaoke, the logic and programming is from the early 2000's. The gentlemen that owns it all is a good dude, but good lord he does not want to up grade anything. Imagine hearing every single fly and bug buzzing at the same time and boom you got their Friday night. This place is seriously on its way out of the door because of places 100% nicer pool tables Better audio systems Bar tenders Overall ambience But if you would like to visit a dive bar with the worst customer service than this is your place. Keep in mind no pool tables unless you're a day drinker, garbage audio, open till 2am but stops serving at 1am. If you like that then this is your place. To the big bad biker dude behind the bar. I've got more time down range in a port-a-pooper than you do behind that bar you don't scare me so don't act all big and bad you're not a hero. The other older female bartender will also talk shit if you do not tip at least 40% Long story short let this bar die out and go to Yogie's and get actual service and pool tables. They guilt tripped my date into tipping because "no one in our party had tipped"... we all had open tabs at the bar and we're having a good time until... Anyways beware about this scheme they like to play. Same thing happened to another friend of mine last time we were here. Otherwise the karaoke is super fun!

This is the ultimate "have too much to drink and have too much fun to think" type of place. When you arrive, you are greeted by grannies, aunties, grandpas, tios, cousins, and college somethings all wanting to accomplish one thing: to sing their heart out with no regrets (after 3 tequila shots, it is no "ragrats") surrounded by an audience who wants nothing more than to cheer you on in all your glory. This is literally the most accurate review of the One Nasty: 1. Drink 2. Sing 3. Have fun *drops mic*

We were visiting from out of town and had a great time until a couple of regular patrons showed up and started a political debate with us about liberal vs conservatives and we kept insisting to them they were entitled to their opinion, although they continued to tell us we were wrong and that they were going to change our minds. They even insulted our IQ levels without merit and talked loudly and publicly amongst themselves about our stupidity. The bartender then asked US to tab out, to which we obliged. After we left and were waiting for a ride but noticed the other party was not asked to also leave, we went back inside to ask why. The bar staff chased us outside, told us we were causing a scene and we told them to please call authorities to help handle this matter because they threatened us, the male bartender with missing teeth tried to grab me, the older red-haired female bartender told me I had been a bitch since we got there, even after a generous tip and praise for their service. Expect nothing BUT bias when you go to this bar. They will judge you upon entry and will not support fair discrepancies among patrons if you are not a local.

one of the WORST experiences i've had going to a bar. me and my friends walked straight to the bathroom (no bouncer at the door when we first walked in) so we could use the restroom. as we were headed to the restroom a older man started asking us for our id's. mind you we were all very petite girls, all around 5ft, and 21. we thought he was messing with us so we laughed it off and proceeded to the restroom. i've never EVER been asked for my id when going into the restroom so i thought it was very weird that a random old man sitting at the bar was asking us this. we did not feel safe just giving him our id's. when we walked out, we went over to the table where the rest of our group was and sat down. the man and a bartender (a older woman) walked over to us and immediately started threatening to call the cops, that we had to leave bc we didn't give him our id's, etc etc. he was directing this conversation mainly to my friend who is a person of color and left her feeling very VERY uncomfortable. he continued to threaten her and us with the police. mind you the only people in this establishment were white. the way this man came up and addressed three 21 year old girls was sickening. we offered to show our id's to prove we were of age and he refused to have any solution. it was his way or no way at all. treated us so disrespectfully being a 50+ yr old (apparently the "owner"). i would absolutely never go back or want to support this place after witnessing first hand how they treat their customers. im beyond disgusted an embarrassed to have brought my friends here. it is a SHAME that in 2023 poc still have to experience situations like this. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS ESTABLISHMENT.
