Best Austin Restaurants Near Austin Convention Center | Eater Austin

"Breakfast and lunch tacos are always a must, so make a stop at the downtown location of the Austin mini-chain. Find classic corn and flour tortillas filled with migas, meats, and, yes, there’s a pancake taco. Takeout and delivery orders can be placed online or in person; there are indoor and outdoor dine-in areas." - Nadia Chaudhury

I ordered the Migas and El Clásico tacos. I stopped by because another restaurant was closed for staff party. So glad I did. The Migas taco is AMAZING! I didn’t love the clasico that much maybe because it was plain just potato and egg not a lot of flavor. Next time I’ll get just the Migas tacos. Prices are great and food is good. They are open for breakfast which I love!!!❤️ Come try this place if you love tacos!!!

Really love the tacos and at a great price! But when ordering carry out, the last 2-3 times, they have not provided all the food ordered. It can be frustrating. We recommend reviewing the food with the staff before taking home. Unfortunately that means opening up the wrapped food one by one (sometimes they have labels but most of the time they don’t). Service would be 5 stars if they can sort through this carry out issue.

My wife and I visit One Taco on a weekly basis and always have a great consistent experience! With all the Taco places around one would think One Taco would be outnumbered but it's honestly on another level than other taco restaurants. The ingredients taste extremely fresh and the tacos are simple and healthy. We often get the street tacos, quesadillas, chips and guacamole and the birra tacos. They are always fresh and delicious. The service is always fast and friendly and the prices are reasonable. Their dining area is casual and comfortable and One Taco also offers outside seating too. Highly recommend giving One Taco a try, you will not be disappointed!

My first time at any One Taco location and I'm sure we will be back. People in Austin talk about the great tacos but as someone who moved here from Southern California, it seems hard to find a good taco. But One Taco really seems to capture the authenticity of a street taco. I tried their carne asada and Al Pastor and we tried both the street tacos size and their regular "Los Tacos" size. It seems the ingredients are the same. I'm not sure what meat they use for the carne asada but it's very different from carne asada I've come to expect from any traditional taco shop in SoCal. It's not bad, but the meat they use just has a different flavor that doesn't take like good steak. Likewise, the Al Pastor is good... but just different. They do have the meet cooking on a turning spit. They seem to cut bigger, thicker slices of the al pastor than what I am used to. They sprinkle chopped onion and cilantro and overall, the taste was good. They have red and green salsa to use on the tacos and I really liked their green salsa. I'm not sure if the tortillas are hand made on site but they don't taste like it. Overall, the food is good but it could be better. I'm sure we will come back but we aren't going to go out of our way to eat here.

Amazing Street-Style Tacos at a Great Price! If you’re craving authentic street-style tacos, One Taco is the place to go! The flavors are incredible, the ingredients taste fresh, and the tacos are perfectly seasoned. They offer a great variety, and every bite is packed with that true Mexican street food experience. Not only is the food top-notch, but the prices are also very affordable, making it easy to enjoy a delicious meal without breaking the bank. The service is fast and friendly, and the atmosphere has that perfect laid-back, casual vibe. I highly recommend One Taco to anyone looking for quality tacos at a great price. I’ll definitely be coming back for more!

If you are looking for tacos please do not hesitate to come here, do not go anywhere else. I have lived in Austin my whole life and One taco has some of the most seriously flavorful and heavenly tacos I have ever had. If I could eat from only one restaurant for the rest of my life, I would pick One Taco with a big smile on my face! I understand I might sound dramatic, but seriously the food is just that good! I've eaten quite a bit before at Torchy's and Taco Deli but this just blows them right out of the water. Torchy's just feels so overpriced for lack of fresh ingredients and questionable recipes. Taco Deli has some serious customer service problems with inconsistent and declining quality. Seriously, only come here!! I pay half the price I would somewhere else for some of the freshest food I've ever had in my life, always leaving satisfied. The Pastor and the Me latte are a must order and if I were to ever leave Austin, I would miss them dearly. The guacamole is a true example of how fresh these ingredients are! Amazing customer service as well (Everything about this place is amazing), Carlos took our order and he is the best!! He went out of his way to make us feel welcomed and feel taken care of. We are so lucky for One Taco to be in our neighborhood, truly a 5 Star experience.

Fed the family dinner for under $20. Great value and great taste. Delicious. The kid loved the Mexican rice & horchata. Recommend those & barbacoa & al pastor street tacos with the green creamier salsa for the adults.

Yelp
We come here once a week for lunch. Most times we stay to eat but we had to get back home. We love this place. Always great tacos, fast and tasty if you are on the go. The place is clean staff are friendly and the atmosphere is chill. If you haven't tried this place, you should. Next time I'm going to try the me latte coffee and horchata. Even though the horchata is made from powder. Still tasty but not like the authentic horchata. It's hard to find a good horchata that's freshly made. Overall, this taco place is great. I do like it and the portion size is just right.

Yelp
Solid! We just did street tacos - Birria, al pastor, pollo. The pollo was simple (cilantro, onions and I liked it that way), Birria meat was a bit dry but consommé was yum so it ended up well and Al pastor was delicious and the best one! Corn tortillas for all the tacos were fresh and lightly toasted; chips & guac were good (our guac needed a little salt). Restaurant is tiny & darling, very clean! I loved that there wasn't a bunch of "stuff" on the tacos. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
I'm picky as hell with tacos. I'm from SoCal and have eaten everywhere from TJ and SD, up to LA growing up on this cuisine. Tacos are really good here and there's nothing better in Lakeway in my opinion. I eat here about 3-4 times a week. Always the same thing, 3 Barbacoa on flour and campechana tacos. Breakfast tacos are also very very good. El Jefe taco with fried egg and carne asada is phenomenal. Every restaurant has hit or miss moments, especially if you're taking your food to-go... the experience will be different than enjoying it freshly made and eating there. People who complain about that don't understand food service. And most people only leave reviews when they want to complain, not when their experience was good. As good as your ego may feel to share your irrational negative experiences, you're not food critics. Support your local businesses or they will all be gone. And who knows, if you didn't like the item you tried, try something else next time ‍. Fyi, I've eaten their tacos COLD the next day and it's still good. Salsas are killer too I mix all three up together! Service is usually always good, and they keep the place pretty clean!

Yelp
Rice was super salty and the food took over 25 minutes on a slow night. Would not recommend since there are other taco options in the area.

Yelp
We picked up food to go and were a little disappointed. The cheese was burned and made the carne asada tacos terrible. When we eat them at the Q2 stadium they are freaken delicious so maybe just don't get them to go. Also had the gowalla tacos which hit the spot. The queso was also hot when we got home but hardened pretty quick. We will try it again soon.

Yelp
Enjoyed that they serve authentic Mexican food. You have to order at a counter first, and h then they take your plate to your table. Nice small cozy place. My only suggestion for improving is that the street tacos need to have more meat in them. I got the chicken tacos and was not impressed with the portion of each taco. Also would like a spicier salsa. Other than that very delicious.

Yelp
This is the #1 taco spot in Austin so it has a great name. They use fresh home made ingredients and the staff is awesome at all the locations I've visited. I love tacos and I love One Taco.

Yelp
YUM! How did I not know about this place. New favorite for sure. Queso is really good and tacos outstanding.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place. The barbacoa tacos smack every time and they give generous portions. I've also had their chicken fajita tacos, queso, potato egg cheese taco, and bacon egg cheese. All were good and I would recommend. Also note that this place is open late for your late night cravings. The food can take a bit to come out, especially if there is a crowd, but with how good everything tastes that'll always be okay with me. I will continue to eat here! Decently priced, too.

Yelp
Very pleased OneTaco is now available in Bee Cave! I have been a big fan of their other locations. The food is excellent. My favorite is the Carne Asada and Breakfast Tacos. All the food is prepared fresh.

Yelp
Great to have a new place nearby but it's really not that great. Love that it has breakfast tacos but the tortillas are out of a bag and dry. The drinks are also limited. Sunrise has better tacos just a longer drive...

Yelp
Really good had one of each of the tacos the pastor and asado. Were magic really really good. Queso is a wee bit of spicy but people around here like it spicy

Yelp
We tried One Taco last night and boy oh boy the food was delicious! They'll be seeing a lot of me because I will definitely be back! Great new restaurant in the area!

Yelp
One Taco is a great lunch spot! Super tasty tacos, lots of choices, affordable and friendly service. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I had the pleasure of trying this taco spot for the first time, and it exceeded all my expectations. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted, setting a welcoming tone right away. The service was impressively quick, and our food came out in no time. Having grown up in San Diego, I've always been particular about Mexican food, and I'm not usually a fan of Tex-Mex. This place, however, is the real deal--authentic Mexican cuisine with bold, incredible flavors. You can tell the two hardworking men behind the counter are passionate about what they do, and it shows in the quality of their food. If you're looking for truly authentic Mexican food, made with care and served with pride, this is the place to go. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Disappointment. I was excited to know Onetaco was a little closer to me. I will continue to drive the extra 10 min to go to their northwest location. Ordered a barbacoa taco like usual didn't Know I was getting a taquito.

Yelp
Love their pastor tacos!!! Taco truck vibes with a clean and fresh experience 10/10 recc and would go back

Alyse A.

Yelp
First timer here and it was outstanding! I tried the I heart bacon and a migas, both great. They have 3 choices of salsas that you can choose from. The wait for the food was a little long but nothing crazy. Will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
Absolute idiots work in this store, how can you possibly forget to put a total of 5 tacos in the bag. If the order says 5 tacos how can you possibly put 4. It's simple math.
