The 11 Best Long Island Wineries 2024

"One Woman Wines is a breath of fresh air compared to the larger, more corporate wineries in North Fork. Their tasting room is more like an enclosed counter with no seating room, but there are a few tables outside where you can gaze meaningfully at the vines while swirling around a glass of their roccio red blend. The more intimate setting is great for catching up with old friends or having abnormally deep conversations with your mom, but you should know it also means that there isn’t an indoor bathroom. Google
A fantastic winery to visit! This place had delicious wine, but even more delicious craft cocktails. The espresso martini with a lemon twist was life changing. The gin and tonic flight with 4 various fever tree tonics were great! We had two small children with us and this place was very accommodation. A must visit if on the NoFo wine trail!

Google
Beautiful tasting room experience! The wines are all delicious and the staff were super friendly and generous. They asked us what we like and brought us over some additional tastings of other wines we would enjoy, and enjoy we did! If I were local to the area I’d definitely keep coming back to this place. Love that they have Claudia’s story on the front of the menu too. Try the Reserve Chardonnay. It’s her prized wine. Thank you for a lovely afternoon!

Google
The new tasting room makes one of the North Fork's most esteemed wineries a destination. One Woman offers a really pleasant experience both inside and out. The service is great and friendly, which contributes to the relaxed atmosphere. They also offer coffee and pastries at the new location of D’Latte. While all the wines are good, I especially recommend the Gewürztraminer.

Google
The best vineyard on the North Fork! The wines, and even the meat & cheese board are on another level. Thank you for making us feel like we were back in Barolo or Tuscany for a couple of hours.

Google
We were guests at a wedding there, the place itself was quaint felt like we were in Tuscany. Beautiful place to have a wedding. The food was phenomenal. The wine and liquor were delicious the service was top notch. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone.

Google
Best wines overall I’ve had on the North Fork. Service in the tasting room was exemplary. Kind of a rustic European vibe. Their Gewurtztraminer was excellent as was the Gruner Veltliner, a real surprise varietal for Long Island. It’s not really one woman either. The winemaker’s daughter has a distillery on the property. I tried her bourbon, which was a bit young, but destined to be a real treat with more ageing. Wonderful experience and highly recommended.

Google
One of the best experiences we have had in a winery in a long time. Felt like home, all staff was very knowledgeable and gave us great insight as to navigate not only their own winery but the north fork. We will definitely be back

Google
We came on a Saturday and had two flights, one regular and one reserve. They only have outdoor seating but it was a nice day. We love supporting woman owner businesses and we enjoyed hearing the story behind the owner.

Yelp
Their new large tasting room is now open. Spacioys and cozy it even has a small coffee shop area. Besides wine they also offer well coctails, beer and mocktails.

Yelp
Absolutely delighted by our experience at One Woman. Not only are their pours generous and their staff so kind and knowledgeable, but the wine was really good. We brought food and ate it outside--there are plenty of tables, and it's a beautiful spot.

Yelp
9/25/22 Visit: We stopped in One Woman Wines and Vineyard after visiting the Maritime Festival. At this time, the winery appears to offer outdoor seating along with some covered outdoor seating. Check out my seating photos. One Woman Wines and Vineyard offers 4 Types of Flights- $20 Regular, $30 Reserve, $25 Dealers Choice & $35 Pick your own! Our friendly server was Peter. A fellow New Jerseyan! We chose the Reserve flight. The wines were good. However, the '16 Chardonnay was our favorite of the group. It had a lovely almond taste. The reserve wines start at $42. Greenpoint Distilling are on the premises too. They offer Vodka, Bourbon and Gin. You can try one of their cocktails along with the wine flights. The winery doesn't allow groups over 6 people. The restrooms consist of portajohns. Definitely would return to the winery. Cheers!!!!

Yelp
Our first wine tasting stop yesterday did not disappoint! Peter greeted us right away and encouraged us to sit in the yurt to do our tasting, which was perfect since it was a 40 degree windy day and the yurts have portable heaters inside and are super cozy. We did the dealers choice tasting ($25) which was ample for two people to split with the size of the pours. The wines were nice and easy drinking, I especially loved the 2013 Merlot. Love the story of this vineyard too, which made it even better to support it. A must stop if in the area, just know there's no indoor seating so if it's a cold day try to get a yurt otherwise you'll be at a picnic table and probably a bit chilly.

Yelp
I'm a sucker for small off-the-beaten-path places and female owned enterprises, so when I read about Claudia Purita's (aka "One Woman") winery I made it a priority to visit there on a sunny Sunday afternoon. No reservations taken or necessary. Since the tasting room is very small making social distancing impossible, wines were served outdoors at rustic wooden picnic tables. I had hoped to meet Ms. Purita to talk about Italy and the like but no such luck, she never emerged from the little red house. Was she lurking somewhere inside? I'll never know, but the young servers did their best to accommodate. I was particularly interested in their well-reviewed Gewurtzraminer, but was told I could not get that variety in any tasting nor by the glass. Even when I said I was interested in buying a bottle I was refused a taste. Instead got two regular flights of other wines and received teeny weeny pourings in flimsy plastic cups at $20 per flight. After the two tastings I showed our server my Yelp check-in offer for a free tasting of just one reserve wine. She went inside to check, came back and claimed the offer had expired (not true!) so refused to honor it. I was annoyed but didn't argue. Then another male server came out and said he'd honor the Yelp offer even though it had expired (again untrue!), brought over one tiny serving of reserve chardonnay which I liked so ended up buying 2 bottles of that. Purchased 6 bottles total (5% discount on 6) after the tastings and left. Interesting but so-so experience compared to my experiences at other NoFo wineries. I understand that small wineries need to make money on tastings but One Woman's pushback on the valid Yelp offer, lack of availability of popular wines except by the bottle and chintzy pours made this experience subpar. Hopefully these are the growing pains of a new biz and my next experience there will be better.

Yelp
One woman .... More like Wonder Woman! What an amazing little winery. We decided to do the charcuterie board and two flights of the workers selection. They do a great job in asking you what kind of wine you like before creating your flight. They also have "you pick" flights. I honestly enjoyed every wine they gave us and the charcuterie was a delicious mix of cheese, crackers, nuts and dried fruit- perfect to split for a party of two. They also have handmade cocktails for purchase as well. Cute outdoor seating. Quiet. No groups over 6. Space between tables so you don't feel like you're hugging the people next to you. Good pricing on bottles of wine. Super helpful and attentive workers. I would love to come back the next time I'm in town!

Yelp
Such beautiful grounds. Delicious wine. Allowed to bring in outside food as long as you purchase a food item. Which is fair. They seem like they were ready for covid prior to it happening they only have this tiny house and just picnic tables everywhere! They do have a 2 hour limit currently to allow for more guests to enjoy
google avatar

James B.

Yelp
Lovely outdoor seating with a beautiful view. Service was great and the wine was excellent.
google avatar

Annie D.

Yelp
Wonderful service and great selection. We tried a hand selected flight based on a few questions asked by the servers. I enjoyed 3 of the 4. I only liked the 4th. Casual atmosphere with a few tables outside. There is shaded area and it very pet friendly. I will definitely be back. I really enjoyed the Sauvignon blanc and purchased a bottle. Prices are reasonable.

Natalie L.

Yelp
Staff were friendly, ambience was peaceful and quiet. Place is very very small for amount of people visiting. I usually drink Sav blanc, and really wasn't a fan of their whites. Probably wouldn't return. I do recommend at least trying once and form your own opinion
google avatar

Howard S.

Yelp
Been buying their white wine for many years now. Very laid back place off the main road. A road very less travelled. Ambiance is very rustic. Not much going on except the vines, a few outdoor tables, and lots of summer sun. I saw some goats in the distance. The German style white wines are by far the best white wines on the island. The Sauvignon Blanc is pretty good too. Not much to munch on. Service is very friendly. A great place for a summer / fall family picnic.
google avatar

Yelp
The Quick: Great experience! Lots of socially distant outdoor seating, beautiful view, great wine at reasonable prices and friendly service. definitely recommend... And they allow you to bring food which is incredible! Just clean up after yourselves

Yelp
Came here last time I toured NorthFork. Came here because my friend had been here before and raves about the wine and pleasant service Tasting room is super small but staff was super friendly I would come back

Yelp
A while back I read an article about the proprietor and was so inspired by her story. I took the day out to visit the nearby lavender fields and when the sign flashed by on the side of the road I peeked up! I made a mental note to stop by on my way back and am so, so happy I did just that. My visit was brief, not lasting more than 15 minutes. I didn't get to meet Claudia, but her staff were incredibly kind and knowledgeable. I tried 3 wines - the rosè, The 2016 Gertz and the Sauvignon blanc. Hands down the rosè was one of the best I've ever had, and I happily have a bottle chilling in my fridge. The Gertz was also good and reminiscent of the wine my family makes in Italy but I felt after that rosè I had found a true love. I wasn't crazy about the SA, but that's fine in my book. I'd love to return with a friend of 2 and sit out. It looks like you can bring your own food. You are not allowed large groups which is fine because this is a tranquil vineyard, not another Vineyard 48, ahem. I

Yelp
Very friendly service, and the wines were tasty. A fun stop wine tasting in the area.

Yelp
What a wonderful little winery on the North Fork!! A great alternative to the larger bachelorette party, giant bus woohoo wineries. Lovely flight suggestions from Peter on site and just a delightful stop on the way in or out of the east end!
google avatar

Luisa S.

Yelp
The wine a rose was very good . However we were greeted by a rude salesperson who wouldn't allow us to sit and drink the wine. Not a very good attitude for new customers!
google avatar

Jennifer R.

Yelp
Can't believe I haven't been here sooner. Definitely my new favorite to visit when I'm out East. My friend and I did a flight and each one we tried was amazing. I bought a bottle of Rosé for a dinner I was hosting and everyone loved it. Super knowledgeable employees that also gave us recommendations for other places to visit in the area. Will be back soon.

Liza M.

Yelp
This should be a minus 3 stars. They did not want to accommodate our party. It was early in the day and not a lot of customers yet. Granted we had seven people, one over their limit but she was our designated driver. We didn't even all get to the entrance before they approached us and said we were not allowed. We went to other wineries immediately after where they also had a limit for 6 but they accommodated us by splitting up our party and the other winery was perfectly ok to accommodate our seven regardless of the limit. Tourist travel to the area to experience nice wines and One Woman winery left a bad taste for us and will not even attempt to ever visit or recommend to others!!

Inna L.

Yelp
Absolutely lovely place, nice people, good wine, quiet music. Please keep it this way

Yelp
After spending a day on the North Fork and visiting a whole bunch of wineries, it's safe to say that One Woman was definitely a stop that sticks out as one of the best. It's in a teeny tiny adorable house -- more then ten people probably couldn't fit inside at one time. Although it's really small, the interior has got a ton of charm and character and is wood paneled with a very rustic vibe. The owners were friendly, hospitable and even let us play some music on our phones while we tasted away (and not a single eyebrow was raised at our questionable taste). We tried a bunch of whites, reds and even a rose, but my most memorable taste was the gruner. So much so, that I even purchased a bottle to take home. To go along with your tastings, they've got a selection of meats and cheeses available for purchase. The owner gave us a crash course on which cheeses to sample with each taste of wine, and all of his suggestions were spot on! We came on a cold day and didn't get to explore much of the outside property, so I'm looking forward to coming back when it's nicer out so I can sit outside! Definitely don't overlook while you are wine tourin' around the North Fork!

Vickie V.

Yelp
A low-key vibe in an awesome setting. Great friendly service with a wide selection of wines--and whiskies!

Yelp
One Woman Wines was pretty much the vineyard of my dreams. I stopped in here on a overcast day during a sort of panned but mostly impromptu wine tour. Coming from a town that's nestled between the Niagara Wine Trail and the Finger Lakes, I was eager to sample the options down in this neck of the woods, so to speak. One Woman was our second of three stops but probably my favorite of the day. Compared to other wineries around it, One Woman doesn't look like much from the outside and I would probably go so far as to say it's barebones. Their bathroom options appeared to be one portapotty (though I'd hedge a bet and say there are more available during Summer? Don't take my word for it though) and not a ton of parking at this little gem. The tasting room itself is very small, it seems like it's a renovated shed. This time of year, it was perfectly cozy. Two employees behind the bar were serving me, my friend, and another couple. I wouldn't have wanted many more people in there, honestly. However, they have space outside with a reasonable amount of seating and loads of room to stand, which is always nice on a spring/summer/fall day. They even have a corn hole game (because you know, the more you drink, the better you play). That said, the employees were I N C R E D I B L Y friendly (can not emphasize that enough), knowledgeable, and really made a positive impact on the overall experience. If you're not claustrophobic, then you're in for a treat. As far as cost goes, I found it to be pretty reasonable. Three tastings for $8 or four for $10. We tried the Sauv Blanc, the 2015 Gewürtztraminer, Chardonnay and Merlot. They were all fantastic but the Gewürtz was my winner So much so that I bought a bottle (reasonably priced at $28) and as of 8:52 the following morning, the bottle is empty. Make sure you check in on Yelp if you get out here, you'll get a free sample of a Reserve wine. I checked in while walking out and you better believe that my friend and I went back (and the employee poured us a heavy sample so we could share it - how awesome is that?). If I'm ever down in Long Island again, particularly during the summer, I will make sure I get back to this place.

Yelp
Of all the wineries we visited on our North Fork tour, One Woman is easily a favorite. My wife is partial to white wine, and even though I might be more into reds, I am a scared and beaten man...so I am also partial to white wine these days. In any case, this tiny operation is turning out some of the best whites I've had on the island. What's more, is that their hospitality is second to none. I believe John was our host for the day, and he treated us right. Thanks buddy. Between you and me, I've been known to go wine-tasting just to drink on occasion, with only the slightest intention of purchasing bottles. Well, I couldn't resist walking away with a couple great bottles from One Woman, which says something, I imagine. I was legitimately and pleasantly surprised at the quality of the Gewurztraminer, and I could drink that and several other One Woman varietals all summer.
google avatar

Erica W.

Yelp
Seriously impressive wine and operation here. Absolutely worth a stop. I shared a flight with my friend and we each wound up getting two bottles to take home! The space is very cute. They do a lot of events in the summer so I'm looking forward to going back when the weather warms up (and before then). My favorites were the two merlot vintages and the two Gewurtztraminer. Very very flavorful but still approachable. They are doing things right!!
google avatar

Debrin S.

Yelp
I've been ruminating over my experience here. Quite yet powerful. Intimate but serious. Precise yet easy going. Gabrielle, daughter to the proprietor, over saw our tasting. She is at once congenial, opinionated, knowledgable, young, and passionate. A bonafide enthusiast, committed and serious! Hence the tasting was an enlightening education. On to the actual tasting! We tried & bought: Sauvignon Blanc is a true French Sancerre style - its ridiculous. The New Zealand style was too grapefruit But for me the 2012 Gruner veltliner, rarely grown in the states & even more rare if it's good, was AMAZING Awards: http://www.newyorkwines.org/NYGold No buses. No tours. No frat boys. No bridesmaids. Just simple not humble but complex wine tasting on a little old vineyard in a tiny shed. Perfect.
google avatar

Phil H.

Yelp
Check in on Yelp for a free reserve wine tasting! Wine tasting in a little shed! No, really, it is a little shed. Look at the pic I put up. Inside it's decor is nicely done in a country farm kind of way. There were already about eight people in it when we got there so we had to squeeze in and wait our turn. Only room for one person serving the wine tasting behind a small bar area and he was very friendly and even offered suggestions on other wineries to check out along the way. Different options and price points for tastings here. Two for $6 or three for $8. The reserve merlot is really good as were a few of the Gruner white wines. Bottles are a bit pricey but I splurged on that reserve melot as it had great flavor of chocolate and a bit of leather. A bit dry with a nice finish. Very unpretentious and simple spot to taste some vino. If it gets too crowded as this closet sized place can quickly become, there is a nice outside deck with seating to relax on when the weather is nice along with some picnic tables on the lawn. Very cozy spot that I'll return to in the Spring to enjoy some wine outdoors.

Yelp
In the course of a year and a half, One Woman Vineyards and Winery has become one of my favorite wineries on the North Fork of Long Island. They made a lasting impression of my Long Island Wine experience and have become a standard for my New York Wine experience. They have a very small tasting room with an extremely friendly team behind the counter. Usually you'll find Gabrielle (the One Woman's daughter) there insuring that you 'll have the most terrific wine tasting experience. Once in a while Claudia "The One Woman herself" will stop in to say hello. I have never been there where everyone tasting wine wasn't complementing on just how good is the wine in their glass. They have quite a selection and it's growing all the time. Make sure you taste the Merlot and reserve Chardonnay. recently they introduced their first white blend. Be sure to try the Gruner. One Woman is the only winery on Long Island with this varietal. I've sampled all the wines, repeatedly and last year joined the wine club as soon as it opened. This is definitely a wine that I keep a stock of and enjoy regularly. Go here, taste wine, and be sure to buy some bottles.... Stay Local, and support the Long Island wine industry.

LF L.

Yelp
Very thoughtful approach to wines, with less flash and fewer crowds than the usual. The Roccia was excellent, as was the Gruner. Our wine guide was friendly and informed and lovely to our kids.
google avatar

Tyler R.

Yelp
I semi-usually stick to Reds / Dessert Wines when I go tasting - but One Woman Vineyards changed my entire perspective on white wine, tasting white wine, and tasting wine in general. I would consider this the least "commercialized" wine tasting experience anywhere (that I've been so far) on Long Island. I'll chalk some of that up to the fact that my wine tasting buddy is a VIP, but most of it to the fact that the tasting room is in a very cool, very small barn (fits about 7 before it gets stuffy) right on the edge of some vines - and you don't have to hang around very long before the One Woman herself pops in to say hi and see how everyone is doing. I've sampled all the whites from top to bottom, you really can't go wrong. If I had to choose one to have a full glass of, I'd go for the Gruner. Despite the fact that the tasting room is the size of a closet (again, a good thing) there is ample outdoors space to hang out, have a picnic, throw some Frisbee, whatever you like. And from what I understand, there are more good things to come. Got a taste of two unreleased varieties - both amazing, both worth waiting for. Go here, taste wine, purchase bottles.

Yelp
One woman is the real deal. This is a vineyard tucked off a back road of South ave on the North Fork of Long Island. Tiny rustic quaint tasting building on the vineyard for wine tastings. A good friend of mine is a founding member of the wine club at this place. He took me to this place and I'm so glad that I visited One woman met the owner on one of the visits. It looked like a lot of hard work was put into this winery by the Gabriala to make it a special place to visit for great white and red wines'. All grapes are grown here on premise and not out sourced. We all are aware that the east end of Long Island is now renowned for its wineries. One Woman Wines and Vineyards holds true to the old school. No flash but all substance!!! They do it on a one on one basis... their wine is very good but the personality sells it all. Don't be dismissive of the youth (25 + year olds), they believe in the product and are very personable and knowledgeable of their wine. Well worth the trip of the Main Road to One Woman. If you are doing your own little wine tour, this is a spot you need to check out. Also, You're likely to see One Woman herself driving around in her truck or on ATV at the property!
google avatar

Alex B.

Yelp
I love this place. It's one of the very small, cozy wineries. It holds about 10 - 12 people comfortably. The Chardonnay was ok. For me, it was all about the atmosphere. Will go back.
google avatar

Sunita S.

Yelp
Have been wanting to check out this vineyard for a while now. So we stopped in yesterday for a glass of wine. Its so cute. They have a beautiful outdoor area with views of the vines in back. Nice colorful chairs and they have a good portion of the seating area covered. They were friendly when we arrived and served us quickly. We relaxed in their back porch as we sipped our wine. I really like that they don't allow buses and groups over 12. Some vineyards can get really crowded.
google avatar

Ryan K.

Yelp
I can't say enough good things about this Winery. The people working there are friendly and informative. They make not only great recommendations on wine but also on the surrounding restaurants. We easily drive two hours each way just to sample their wines!
google avatar

Aina B.

Yelp
Didn't stop in for a tasting, just wanted to take a chance on a local wine and support a woman-owned business. Very charming little setup they have to accommodate COVID times- a little stand where they greet you and give you a menu and describe the wines. After going over a few options and discussing my preferences, the lovely woman helping me steered me toward the 2018 rosé. I drank it chilled later that week and found it to be very pleasant, lightly fruity and just a little dry, exactly in my flavor lane. Hope to be able to stop in again and try another!
google avatar

Susan S.

Yelp
Impressive ... i love the story of one woman winery and have been coming to the north fork for years. I don't know why this was my first visit. Its definitely a smaller winery compared to the others but well worth the visit. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. Wine was very good. Will be back.
google avatar

Gaurav P.

Yelp
Several years later, it is in my top two wineries on the North Fork. They lead the pack when it comes to dry whites and overall experience. Read the rest of my reviews to give you the 411 on what's up, Mary J. THIS has been a short and updated review by Gaurav

D S.

Yelp
This place was so great- it's small so no limos, buses, groups over 6- but that adds to the charm, enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff - wine was great. definitely try the spaghetti wine! my new favorite
google avatar

Blaire F.

Yelp
The wines are FABULOUS. This winery is the last stop on the Northfork wine tour before Greenpoint, but it should be your first stop. This vineyard has a small, rustic appearance but produces wines with great finesse. The more LI wine you drink, you realize that there is a specific terroir to Long Island wines. Not to be missed are the chardonnays and the merlot (including the reserve). The staff is friendly and wants you to enjoy your experience. This is also a local secret for wine aficionados. This vineyard produces some of Long Island's best wines.

Kris D.

Yelp
Terrible experience and will never go back. They would not seat our party, even though we broke up into two smaller groups and said we can sit anywhere, did not have to be near each other. One gentleman would have seated us, however this nasty Young woman gave us an attitude, yelled at us and walked away. Poor customer service.... I don't care how good the wines might be, they do not deserve your business. Take it elsewhere- there are so many other wineries out there. Management might want to reconsider their employees and how they address their customers.

David F.

Yelp
Not a welcoming establishment by any means. would never go back especially with so many other great inclusive winery's around
google avatar

Jess L.

Yelp
My girlfriends and I were immediately charmed by the single, small barn for the tastings. We weren't as charmed by the port-o-potty. The two women working here were kind, but they were less knowledgeable about the wines and about the region than at other wineries we visited that day. The Grüner is definitely worth checking out, though. They have one of the few of theis varietal in NY. Plus, women rock, yeah? Start here and make your way back west.
google avatar

Sam T.

Yelp
Beautiful vineyard. Beautifully executed European style wines. Highly recommend the Chardonnay or the One Woman Tribute. Picnic friendly. Dog friendly as long as they are on a leash. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
I had my second visit to One Woman yesterday and was just as impressed as I was the first time. As the North Fork continues to grow and some vineyards lose focus on red and white for green, it's refreshing to find places like One Woman where they're staying true to their brand. I immediately fell in love with One Woman when I drove up. The tasting room is just off the main road, small, and scattered with outdoor seating - basically everything I like. Inside the tasting room is a bar, backed by some of the most knowledgeable and friendly pourers on the North Fork. Yesterday we had the pleasure of tasting with John and Gabriella and to put it simply they made me want to come back and taste wine with them all the time. As for the wines, I truthfully don't think there was a single wine during either visit that I didn't enjoy and wouldn't buy. Each has a unique character and profile which makes it so much more enjoyable to taste and discuss with the pourers. Stand outs to me each time we're the Gewurztraminer and the Gruner (the reserve Gruner is actually made of angel's tears). One Woman is so worth a stop on any trip to the North Fork.

Yelp
Beautiful winery- one of the nicest we visited during our Vintage Tours. We were very impressed with Claudia Purita's story of self reliance.

Yelp
Have to say, really pretty damn good. Macari is my favorite by far, but I was pleasantly surprised by how good this place was... mostly whites, but the reserve merlot was very good as well. I do recommend. Beware VERY SMALL

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time yesterday and wow it was great! Definitely smaller and quieter than a lot of the other vineyards which I like because they don't allow the big party buses or limos. The wine was REALLY GOOD too. The staff was really wonderful and knowledgeable on all the wines. We bought a bottle home because we enjoyed it so much! We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Very chill. Cute outdoor seating, No indoor options. The wines were delicious, mostly whites. The Gewurtraminer was unlike any white I have had and I really enjoyed it and bought 2 bottles. If you are a white wine lover - head here!

Yelp
Disappointed. Went here because of Yelp reviews and with a Yelp check in deal for a free tasting. As soon as the one young guy behind the counter heard we had a Yelp deal, he paid little attention to us. Then when he gave the pour--much smaller than others--even when we assured we were going to buy a bottle to have with a picnic lunch. The place is cute and tiny. But don't treat a Yelp deal that the winery has agreed to like a second class situation.
