Yelp
I really wanted to like One Do (or "원두" in Korean, which literally means coffee bean--ironically enough). The space itself is cozy and inviting, with a good amount of seating for a small shop. It has a lively vibe with people working, chatting, and hanging out. But that's honestly the only thing this place has going for it.
I ordered two of the most basic drinks any café should have down: an iced Americano and an iced matcha latte. Both were disappointing. The Americano tasted like watered-down drip coffee, not espresso. I suspect they didn't even use espresso shots--just brewed coffee poured over ice, which explains the weak, flat flavor.
The matcha was worse. I overheard the barista mention it wasn't ceremonial grade, which is fine, but what I got was a pale, stale-tasting drink that clearly hadn't been whisked properly or made with care. It had a dull, overly earthy flavor that just didn't taste fresh.
However, they have sweet drinks that are probably fine if you just want sugar with milk and ice. The food looked pretty decent--nothing too pricey, but also nothing that stood out. But for a café literally named after coffee beans, it's upsetting how little attention is given to making a proper cup. If you care about quality drinks, I'd recommend going somewhere else.
This is my personal scale of how I grade places. I try not to give any restaurant a 1 star or 5 stars unless ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY.
- 5 stars: This signifies a flawless, nearly perfect experience that's worth revisiting without hesitation, leaving little to no room for complaints.
- 4 stars: Expect an experience that surpasses average, leaving you satisfied and content with your decision to dine here.
- 3 stars: Represents a neutral stance, neither exceptional nor disappointing, offering a standard dining experience without notable highlights.
- 2 stars: Advises against choosing this establishment unless absolutely necessary, as it falls short of providing a desirable experience.
- 1 star: Strongly discourages dining here, suggesting that it's better to go hungry than to visit this place under any circumstances.
