The Best Bubble Tea in Boston’s Allston Neighborhood | Eater Boston

"Taiwan-based chain OneZo, which also has nearby locations in Boston’s Chinatown, Quincy, and Worcester, brings a few unique twists to the boba scene — and prides itself on making its boba fresh in-house. In terms of beverages, there’s a bamboo charcoal latte as well as interesting toppings like black sesame bubbles. For desserts, there’s an array of souffles, including a popular brown sugar bubble option." - Karen Wilber

Google
I came across this new place and wanted to share my feedback. Super cute place. it looks clean as you walk in. The lady at the front was super friendly, knew it was my first time there, so she suggested the strawberry green tea. I can tell it has the potential to be good, but it was way too sweet. Next time, I would ask for less sugar. I wish she had asked if it was an option. Definitely over priced in my opinion. I got a medium, which after taxes was near $8. I feel like it's overpriced for what you get. I will still come back again for a different flavor and will ask for less sugar.

Google
OneZo Tea in Brookline is my favorite local spot—I live nearby and stop by all the time. The staff is always friendly and quick, and the drinks never disappoint. If you haven’t tried the Winter Melon Tea definitely do! It’s light, refreshing, and my go-to order lately. Love having this place so close to home.

Google
Place was clean and nice but tea was mid and pretty much like any basic boba place, nothing special. The black sesame boba was soft and gooey except for one which was somehow hard? The normal size was fairly small, like half of the large upgrade, which is kind of insane. I feel overcharged for some very mid boba.

Google
This place is right near my home, so I come here often. The tea is fresh and delicious and the staff here are so welcoming and friendly. I definitely recommend getting the Hong Kong Milk Tea with the coconut jelly!

Google
I tried to give this place a chance after seeing the low reviews. Unfortunately the boba was disappointing but I can’t speak to the donuts… I got the passionfruit green tea and it just tasted sour and bland. Also the boba itself wasn’t great. It was a little mushy and lacked any brown sugar flavor. I will say the staff was great and very sweet! Honestly I just don’t think I’ll go back sadly.

Google
Shockingly bad boba quality for a onezo. Texture was highly variable--some too soft, some literally undercooked. Not sure why I was charged $1.25 for this boba. Tea was ok.

Google
Awesome boba cafe, delicious boba and great service!!

Google
One of our coworkers brought a half dozen "donuts" for us at work. They were pretty good. I don't know the names of them but I really enjoyed the one with the Oreo in then middle.

Yelp
It says OneZo but they also have a MochiNut in the same space. After lunch across the street, we were in the mood for dessert and happened to see this place. Some tables were occupied on a late Saturday afternoon but it was not crowded. The staff at the register wasn't the friendliest but it was ok. We got a sesame mochinut to share and also managed to snag an empty table. The donut was nice, not too sweet but perfectly chewy in texture. The ambiance is also quite peaceful so we sat there for a while, chatting, and it was great that no one rushed us.

Yelp
Came here right at opening on a Friday morning and the place was empty except for us which made sense. The ambiance felt clean and quiet. The worker was quick and efficient with making the drink - I opted for something you usually don't see on the menu and it didn't disappoint. It didn't knock me out of the park or anything, but the drink was refreshing enough and hit the spot. Thanks, OneZo!

Yelp
I've tried the tea at OneZo twice now, and I just don't really like it. It's not bad, it's just average. The interior is clean and has some very cute decorations (more for cute pictures of your drink), but I don't think I would sit there for half an hour.

Yelp
Definitely a self service type of place - no one takes your order it seems like, they have a self service machine. I definitely don't mind since I like to customize my drink and it makes it easier this way. I love all the different options and the boba was chewy and delicious. I usually get worried about adding bubbles to my drink, but I was feeling optimistic and I was right this time around. I got the mango green tea with zero sugar because the mango made it sweet already.

Yelp
I'm surprised that this place opened up next to Royaltea (they're pretty much next door). I didn't have a great experience at Royaltea, so I hoped that this place would be better. For my lactose intolerant friends out there, no need to pull out your Lactaid pills because THEY USE LACTAID MILK FOR THEIR LATTE DRINKS! WOOHOO The menu has the standard set of typical bubble tea drinks as well as a dessert menu (think sago, taro balls). They have a number of different tapioca balls to choose from (including purple yam). I got the purple yam latte ($5.25) with purple yam bubble ($0.75). The drink was prepared super quickly. The purple yam itself did not have that much flavor (it tasted like grainy milk). The drink was not super sweet. The purple yam bubbles were very chewy but again did not add much flavor to the drink. I know that this drink is not supposed to be exploding with flavor but the lack of flavor in the purple yam bubbles was a little disappointing. Overall, I'd choose to go here over Royaltea any day.

Yelp
Dining method: Counter-serve Item(s) ordered: Thai tea with classic boba, no milk, 25% sugar Speed: Fast! (Like 2-3 minutes) Things to know: - You can customize amount of sugar and ice (and potentially other things too!) - There are dairy-free and lactose-free options, and you can even get the tea without milk (including Thai tea) The short answer: Accommodating, customizable, and generally delicious, OneZo is the place to get your bubble tea! The location is very accessible, right on the C-line. OneZo is a cute little shop with a lot of character that you should totally visit if you have a hankering for boba. The long answer: The one milk alternative is oat milk. They also stock their store with loads of Lactaid milk (quite funny, honestly). You can ask for no milk (which was absolutely delicious with an iced Thai tea, though you might have to insist, because it's not a classic order). The staff are super sweet too. Will definitely be returning.

Yelp
My friend works here so I'll give her a good rating :^) This was during their grand opening. We got a buy one get one free bamboo charcoal milk tea, Hong Kong style Milk tea and brown sugar milk tea everything was 10/10

Yelp
AMBIENCE: 3/5 - We were the only ones there since it had just opened but it played the typical KPop music that most boba places played - Small place with not much seating but boba's meant to be grab-and-go anyway - Cute little picture on the wall of Van Gogh sipping on boba. It made me chuckle haha SERVICE: 4.5/5 - We went right when it opened with one person working who greeted us with a smile. We felt bad as we had to change our order a couple of times since we couldn't decide - you could tell he was a little annoyed but when we apologized he was polite and said not to worry about it - Drinks were made right away so it was quick since we were the only ones there - Wish the drinks could be a bit colder but still a good temperature FOOD/DRINK: 4.5/5 - Grape Fruit Green Tea w/Aloe Jelly: Came in slush form, which the server told us beforehand which is much appreciated. My friend didn't care much but I personally don't like slushie drinks. That being said, this one was pretty bomb. Very grape fruit and tart enough that it gives it a little kick but not too much that I make a face. Like the touch with the grapefruit slice in there - gave it the asthenic I am always looking for haha - Passionfruit Green Tea w/Mango Boba: Solid passionfruit green tea. Can't really go wrong with that combo anywhere. The mango boba was delicious, although I wish they had just slightly better texture just because half of them popped before I could even get them through the straw. I ordered 25% sugar and I'm glad that I did. I don't have much of a sweet tooth and the 25% sugar was sweet enough for me. OVERVIEW: - Would come here again to try other flavors. Grape Fruit Green Tea is pretty solid.

Yelp
I ordered a Taro boba tea expecting it to be very good but was a bit disappointed with what I got. The inside was nice and so was the worker there, but my taro boba tea tasted and looked nothing like normal taro tea. The color was brown and it tasted just of the base tea they use with no extra flavoring. The overall service was good and it was quick but could improve on the actual tea
google avatar

Lucy L.

Yelp
9$ for a taro tea that tastes like a mix is just heinous. I'd be okay with the price once in a while for a treat if the quality was still there, but it is not. What happened here? I'm bummed.

Yelp
Good place in Brookline !!! Good food and good drinks !I very like it! I will be go there every week!

Yelp
Solid boba place. I've had the HK Milk Tea, Bamboo Charcoal Latte, and one of the ZZ Desserts (think along the lines of Taiwanese desserts with taro balls, sago, herbal jelly etc). Never too busy which is a plus. My friends love the other items on the top 10, especially the grapefruit green tea and the mango green tea for those who like fruity teas. I thought their brown sugar boba added a nice sweetness to my drinks and was better than brown sugar boba at other places. My only qualm is that sometimes they run out of the different toppings. Smaller store with no bathroom for customers.

Yelp
Came in to get boba tea and was pleasantly surprised by all the options. Service was good, place was clean.

Yelp
I tried this place for the first time during a super hot day. I usually like to try milk teas, but because of the heat that day I opted for something a little lighter and more refreshing. I chose to get the grapefruit green tea with less sugar, regular ice, and with the white bubble (recommendation from the barista - such a good choice!) as well as the mango pomelo sago. The drink had the perfect amount of sweetness to it and had a well-balanced flavor profile between the grapefruit and the green tea. I also loved how there was crushed grapefruit at the bottom! The mango pomelo sago was also DELICIOUS! It wasn't too sweet and I really enjoyed the taste of natural mango in this dessert! OneZo has a great selection of drinks and their baristas make great recommendations (another impressed customer came in to express how happy they were with the barista's recommendations while I was there)!

Yelp
Solid boba place in terms of flavors and QQ factor. Maybe it was a fluke but my boba to tea ratio was a bit disappointing. Since the flavor is good, I will try again, but for the cost of a medium, it may be awhile from now. There isn't really parking so bear that in mind; it is however very close to the T. There isn't much seating inside, so I would classify this as a grab -n- go joint .

Yelp
I was craving boba and saw this place around the corner so stepped in. The interior was simple, cute and clean. I was really excited when I read that they had wintermelon because I love wintermelon milk teas. I asked if they could make it since it wasn't in the milk tea section and the bobarista said that he could not. Not sure why it's not an option so I was a bit bummed and just got the wintermelon oolong tea. The tea itself was fine. I was not a fan of the boba texture. It was lumpy and not that perfect soft chewy consistency that I love. Personally would not got back.

Yelp
Tasty, fast, and I appreciated how the servers answered any questions we had. The cheese foam is a nice addition that tends to taste like cheesecake!

Yelp
Love this place! Didn't know they just opened, but the place was empty next to a crowded Royaltea. I love OneZo's bubbles, and I highly recommend the taro ones if they have them. I got the real fruit tea and the server recommended I waited for the fruit flavor to seep into the tea, which I did. It definitely makes a difference! The place was clean and the service was great. No complaints here!
google avatar

Edward W.

Yelp
I recently dropped by this place for a brown sugar latte, one of their top 10 drinks. I was really disappointed. It tasted like sweetened milk and hardly had any tea flavor. Why do you call this a latte? It should be called brown sugar milk.

Yelp
This is now the closest bubble tea shop to me so of course I had to try it! Their menu has a lot of different "bubble" varieties, which I was excited to taste. Unfortunately, when I stopped in they only had basic toppings available, so hopefully the next time I go they will have more options. I also hope they will maybe add more fruit teas to the menu :) I ordered passionfruit green tea with white bubbles. The consistency of the bubbles was perfect, the best I've had in Boston, and the drink flavor was also good and strong. I ordered less sweet and it was still a bit too sweet for my taste so next time I will try half sweet. The cashier was nice and pleasant. I would definitely stop in again!

Adelbert Z.

Yelp
I ordered a bubble tea through DoorDash. I picked up and tasted it when I got home. The bubble was the worst I've ever had in any bubble tea place in Boston. The only way to describe it is that it tasted so saggy that it feels like the bubble has been soaked in water for months. I went there the next day and asked for help. I was told that the manager was using the bathroom and I had to wait for him to come out. After waiting for more than 10 minutes, he came out and I explained the issue to him. He looked angry and told me there is nothing that can be done after I tried explaining to him for more than 5 minutes. I finally asked if he can make a new one for me, he flipped his eyes and made one. When he gave me the drink, I thanked him and he had no response and won't even look at me. I tasted the bubble when I got home. It tasted as bad as the one from last time. Overall, horrible bubble tea and even worse service. Don't go there.

Yelp
The workers here were so sweet, I don't know much about Boba but they took the time to help me pick the perfect drinks- and they're delicious! (milk tea latte w crystal boba & brown sugar bubble latte)

Yelp
I order through an online through Yelp, it was ready before my pick up time. I would recommend this place to anybody price of the drink was reasonable and it was place inside a beverage tray for my long ride home.

Yelp
I had a boba tea here today. The woman at the counter was visibly aggravated after I told her that she had messed up my order. Besides this, I felt sick after drinking my tea. I vomited later this evening and felt weak; it felt as if I got food poisoning. I see that they store their drink mixtures and boba in an unsanitary way (open containers). I think they should take more care in how they make their drinks and be nicer with customers. I've worked as a barista in cafes before and I know that it's tiring, but I think it's important to treat your patrons with decency.

Yelp
We got the #6 dessert cup. The ingredient list is impressive but the tiny cup of coconut milk literally just tasted like coconut milk. Not enough ingredients and everything kind of tasted the same. The only positive about our experience was that the workers were INCREDIBLY nice. Wouldn't go back though!

Yelp
Amazing bubble tea and fast customer service. This and TeaDo are my favorites in the Boston area. They also use Lactaid milk and serve sago and dinosaur eggs, so lactose intolerant people can enjoy their delicious drinks and desserts too.

Kimberly M.

Yelp
I've been hearing my friends rave about this new Onezo place, so I decided to give it a try...I definitely don't regret it! I'm still relatively new to the drinks here, so I asked the employees for tons of recommendations and suggestions. They patiently & happily answered all my questions, and I ended up getting the grapefruit green tea. 10/10 would reccomend!

Minnie W.

Yelp
The Thai tea with the milk foam tastes delicious, and the dessert was all really good. I ordered the milk tea taro ball and the mango sago. See you guys again soon

Yelp
So happy this place finally opened! Lots of great choices for drinks and desserts. I got sesame boba in my drink and it was delicious. Service was quite speedy. Looking forward to frequenting this place more often!

Sophia X.

Yelp
My favorite new bubble tea place in Brookline! Honestly prefer this place over Royal Tea next door. Great selection of items, bubbles were soft and chewy, and service was great.

Eric W.

Yelp
Very strong tea the workers there are very friendly and helpful with what flavor boba is good with what tea.
