Onyria Marinha Cascais, nr Cascais, Portugal - Explore & Book

"Portugal's aristocracy began decamping to the scenic Estoril Riviera for sunshine and play in the 19th century, hence the plethora of hunting lodges and crenellated mansions along this coast. Laid-back luxurious leisure is still the watchword at this spacious hotel, set in the exclusive environs of Quinta da Marinha, a short drive westwards from Cascais, inland from the Atlantic. Run by the Onyria Group (who took it over from Martinhal in 2023) and part of IHG's Vignette Collection, it's perennially popular among i-escape readers looking for an easy but pampering holiday with or without kids. At nearly 100 rooms, it may be large – by our standards anyway – but it offers a fun vibe plus golf and excellent service. On our most recent visit we were pleased to see that despite the transition there's still a cool playground, and the Atlantic pool provides plenty of space for all. Our bedroom was supremely comfortable; our son declared the bathroom was the biggest he had ever had! Why not enjoy a treatment in the spa whilst the kids make glitter tattoos or try their hand at yoga in the excellent marine-themed kids club. There are wondrous beaches and coves nearby (much of the coastline is protected), and day trips to Lisbon, Cascais and Sintra are easily arranged. Highs Good kids facilities including an excellent playground, bikes to hire, year-round Kids Club, and a choice of three pools!Parent pampering in the excellent spaWe loved the sleek, spacious rooms in hotel and villas alike, and were amazed by how quiet they were insideThe staff are stellar Lows The transition to new owners is on-going so more changes may be on the horizonThe lovely free-form Atlantic pool is open June-Sept only and is unheatedBear in mind that it's aimed more for under 10s, but teens can enjoy air-hockey, swimming, surfing nearby and day trips to Lisbon or Sintra" - Nadine Mellor

Went yesterday to reserve a villa for what could have been many days. My wife & I went to the main restaurant with our small dog in a trolley/pusset & had a drink. Then spoke to the gentlemen at reception & were about to book. After I asked, he initially said no dogs allowed anywhere in the hotel, then mentioned he would organise for the restaurant so we could eat in the alfresco area with our dog. No problem & wise compromising move. Then he was overruled by the woman on reception & then the Manager. They advertise on booking.com that it is pet-friendly. This is not the case. Suggest avoiding (even if you have a small dog in a dog trolley). Dogs are not allowed anywhere. Misleading indeed and I suggest booking.com remove the description. Such a 'policy' & misleading feature on booking.com has cost the hotel about 3 months revenue for a villa plus restaurant dining, as we were looking for a place to stay while we purchase a multi-million € property in the area. Needless to say we will not be using any hotel facilities even as a nearby resident. Its just not smart business to not even allow dogs up to say 10kg. This is the policy at 5 star hotels throughout France, Italy and some in Spain. Appears some Portugese businesses say no to considerable revenue. Strange culture indeed.

Definitely recommend the villas. Fantastic breakfast each day! Don’t miss that. Lovely pool and great for the kids. Playground and kids club (12€ per hour). €5 Uber to and from Cascais.

We spent three nights at Onyria Quinta da Marinha Villas for a family event in Portugal 🇵🇹. We stayed at Villa number 56. It was an enjoyable stay. The house was spacious. It could easily accommodate 5 persons. The presence of 3 bathrooms was clearly a plus as it avoided waiting time as it often happens when people share bathrooms. It was very clean and equipped with enough plates and cutlery. We had breakfast at the hotel which was very good, with a broad range of options. Opening to the garden and with tables both inside and outside the setting was also very pleasant. I have no hesitation to recommend Onyria Quinta da Marinha Villas for a stay in Cascais.

It would be very hard to fault our stay at the Onyria villas in Cascais. We were there for three weeks from late June and everything was perfect. The villa was comfortable and roomy, well equipped and very convenient for the pools and hotel - and the added bonus was that it was serviced every three days. The hotel laundry services are also available as is access to its excellent restaurant. We have taken villas in France and Portugal for many years but this was by far our best experience and we will be back.

We stayed here for a month. The place is really expensive, especially on Portugal. I do not think we would normally be staying here but it was all paid by my husband’s employer. We had everything we needed here- fully equipped kitchen with all the appliances, washer, broom, mop and basic cleaning supplies so we weren’t dependent on housekeeping. Housekeeping comes 1-2 times a week which might be a problem for some, for us it was prefect. We do not enjoy everyday banging on the door, we value privacy and conditions similar to staying home- which we had here. The villas don’t look impressive from the outside but they are cozy and modern in the inside. Loved the fireplace and the terrace. The gardeners are very friendly and there are also several cats roaming around that we befriended during our stay. Our favorite cat was the black tomcat who was coming to visit us all the time…. I can’t even say how much we miss that cat. We came back to villas twice to find him but we weren’t successful. There were some things that we didn’t like about the place, but considering the fact we stayed for a month and overall had such an enjoyable stay, it is not even worth mentioning. In general I was satisfied with the villa, I would recommend staying here, in fact, if I could I would live here!

I had a great stay here. We experienced a welcoming check-in with instructions on how to get to the villas. They weren't that hard to find especially if you observe the map provided and use google maps at the same time. One con is that there is not a great deal of parking space and it is a bit more rustic looking so the paths could get pretty muddy during rainy times. It's not horrible, just not overly landscaped and adorned. For that reason, someone with difficulty walking might find the path to further back villas hard to maneuver. It is a hike form the hotel to the villas so don't expect to just walk across the street. A car is definitely recommended due to limited walkability. You can walk, it just won't be close or with sidewalks. Once you get over those few things, it's a beautiful and comfortable space to enjoy with family. It is well appointed with everything you need to cook or even just store light snacks while still having access to nearby restaurants and delivery. The WiFi worked well for us and my son was doing his online college courses while we were traveling. If you want peace and tranquility in a country setting, then this is perfect. I would definitely stay here again.

Great stay in these cute little villas in the grounds of the Onyria Hotel. Superb fit-out, seemingly brand-new insides and great quality beds, showers etc. ||||Be aware the villas are about 10 mins walk from the hotel or a short drive. So if you buy a breakfast / hotel package then it's not just a short stroll, the villas aren't on the grounds of the hotel itself. This and the terrace layout (in the shade!) are the only 2 minor things to note. ||||||The hotel is very classy and classic. Pool was COLD so it's not heated, but nevertheless very clean and a good swim. ||||Hotel staff were really friendly and it was a great stay. ||Recommended - will visit again.

Beautiful location, beautiful setting, amazing staff (professional, efficient and very fast to deal with requests). I stayed at one of the two bedroom villas along with my wife and children and we had a relaxing and lovely stay. They hotel has a lovely pool and beautiful view over the golf course. I played golf on the golf course which is very special as well. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Yelp
The hotel is a 5 * hotel near the town of Cascais. It has a great lobby and two large golf courses. The swimming pool had a great view at one of the courses. The staff at the reception desk is very friendly en welcoming when we arrived. We booked one of the villas. The get to the villa you have to walk 20 minutes from the hotel. So every morning to get to the breakfast restaurant or get to the pool, you have to walk. It is possible to ask the reception to pick you up at your villa. The breakfast is really good. The pool has a beautiful view but the water is very cold. The villa is a bit outdated. It's not very comfortable to sit outside at the patio. The WiFi in the villa and the rest of the hotel is very good. Don't rent the bikes, the are old and very expense and our bike was broken. I give only 3 stars because I don't think our villa deserves the predicate of a 5 star hotel.
