Onyx Room

Club is really fun. Bottom floor is reggaeton, and the main floor is a mixture of your typical club mixes (Top 40, hip hop, edm). It’s a free entry if you go to their website and get a mobile ticket. However I think it’s free with a ticket until 10:30.( don’t quote me, double check their Instagram) other than that the club is nice with a lot of space. It gets pretty packed. I’ve been 3 times and each time I’ve always had a good time. The video I included is their main floor.

Absolutely horrible service at the bar. Keep in mind my friends and I were sober when this happened. The bar tender was extremely rude and just overall lacked customer service skills. Her horrible attitude is a big reason we will not be going back. A supervisor should be doing some supervising. She also did not allow us to pay drinks with Apple Pay, she asked to see my phone and added a extra $20 bucks on a drink. When i called her out for it she said , so no more drinks for the whole night because she didn't let us. She was just absolutely rude and unprofessional and everyone could see her horrible customer service, not only to us. Didn't get name but she has curly hair at the downstairs bar.

Had a great time, the songs are a little repetitive on the Latinx Room but overall they had a good DJ. As long as you are in line before 10 you will not have to pay for cover, we were the unlucky ones and had to pay $20.00.

Supar environment. I was charged $20 to sit in a sauna. No sort of ventilation, even the DJ Said to turn on the air. These are not appropriate working condtions, the restroom attendee was sweating ;even their security said it was hot in there. Drinks were so water downed !!! If you go please just start your night there don't finish it you'll regret it. They're drinks are so sweet !!!

it’s way too hot in here. I get trying to get more people to buy more drinks by upping the heat but this is unbearable. It used to be so fun but this isn’t it :(

I didn't get to try the food so I can't rate that part fairly, the atmosphere was lit lots of people to talk to and great place to mingle, I wouldn't recommend bringing your mom or something like that it's a not a fancy date lol it's a good place to party and meet people and dance

I just dont understand how they cant turn AC when there's hundreds of people on the establishment. It gets unbearably hot.

Had a great time at Onyx Nightclub last Friday night a few of my girlfriends were in town and I wanted to show them a good area in San Diego that played both Latino and Hip Hop music. The music was so good that we couldn’t stop dancing. We hadn’t been back to Onyx since the pandemic and I’m so glad we stopped in. The interior is newly remodeled and upscaled. The bathroom lines did not take an eternity and that’s always a big plus in my books! 10/10 if you are in the mood for some great music and strong drinks :)

Onyx has the best staff and bartenders, we went last weekend to see Karina after she had been away for a while, but we are so happy she came back because she is really the life of the partyyy

This club is a great time with the right friends. It's $20 entry I think it's free entry before 10pm on fridays If you're looking for a spot that plays Bad Bunny, Rauw Alejandro, Cris MJ, Fuerza Regida, Peso Pluma, Feid, Myke Towers, Karol G, J Balvin, Ozuna, and old-school reggaetón, this is the place for u. Upstairs, they play more trendy music, while downstairs is mostly reggaetón, sometimes banda mixed in.

5 Stars - Unforgettable Night Thanks to Andrew! Was planning a night out in San Diego and stumbled across a Reddit thread mentioning Onyx. One of the comments highlighted Andrew, a bartender there, saying the club was a blast and to DM him on Instagram if interested. I reached out, and Andrew was awesome--he helped get me and my friends in for free and made sure we had an incredible time. The club itself had great energy, good music, and a fun crowd, but what really made the night stand out was Andrew's hospitality. Super friendly, responsive, and genuinely wanted us to have a great experience. If you're looking for a fun night in SD, Onyx is definitely worth checking out--and Andrew is your go-to guy. 10/10 would recommend!

10/10 went for my first time and i definitely had a blast different rooms different music it's definitely a fun vibe to enjoy a night out !! Would def be coming again enjoyed it considering everyone was +21 too

Onyx room exceeded expectations from the diverse vibe of all three rooms to the amazing staff always on their toes serving drinks at laser speeds! Not only does it provide an experience for all but Andrew's consistent social media promotions and business card entries keep the attendees coming back for more! 1000 times recommend and bring my friends back every time I'm in Gaslamp.

Love Onyx. Best nightclub in San Diego!! So many rooms with different Dj's and music. The bartenders are so much fun. Karina and Andrew are the bestttt!

Onyx was fucking lit drinks were affordable and the music was good asf by the end of the night my ears were ringing because the music was so loud which I fucking loved it was so loud recommend going also they have 2 other rooms but didn't get to check those out since the first floor was so lit

They only play Bad Bunny for the floor downstairs that's for Latin music. It sucks because I was hoping to hear Rauw Alejandro & Cris Mj who are also very popular in the reggaeton world. Don't get me wrong, I love Bad Bunny, I just am tired of hearing his music over and over for the past 2 years :/ when there's other artists that are just as good. On a different note, they do have ADA access to use the elevator to go downstairs but when I asked to use it again as I was leaving they thought I was too drunk to not use the stairs so they didn't really understand my situation with a slight buzz I had to explain myself and not sound drunk which is really hard when you're literally intoxicated. It sucks that this was my experience hopefully someone else has a better experience.

Not only was this place super fun, had great music, and 3 dance floors, I also had the best customer service experience. I lost my wallet at ONYX and their manager Juan was able to assist me and locate it! I will definitely be going back knowing that they handle stressful situations well.

Had a fun time here on Saturday night celebrating a friend's birthday! Music was great in all the rooms and my friend group danced until closing basically. Our drinks were so good and our bartender Andrew was very nice and friendly despite it being super crowded at the bar. Would definitely come back!

BEWARE THIEVING OPERATION RAN BY ALL EMPLOYEESS‼DANGEROUS FOR WOMEN 2 WALLETS & 1 PHONES STOLEN WITHIN ONE NIGHT 1/15/23 Visited ONYX in what was suppose to be a fun night out. WATCHED EMPLOYEE STEAL PHONE OUT OF FRIENDS COAT POCKET. WHEN I APPROACHED THE EMPLOYEE I WAS CONFRONTED. My friend whom I shared my Apple location with, immediately gave me her phone to track. I was able to was able to pin point location. Thus I showed the phone to the host, she immediately accused me of lying. When I showed it her the exact location, she Immediately became shifty and began stuttering. Then called Management. Management laughed in my face and told me to "find" it then. Immediately threatened to "86" me. I agreed to stand out of the club as I called the police. SECURITY PROCEEDED TO INTIMIDATE ME TO LEAVE. Felt threatened and in danger we decided to leave for our safety. Come to find out at the end of the night the entire group of us...3/5 women group were robbed. 2 wallets were robbed and denied transactions at Target in Cerritos, Ca the next day. The 1 stolen phone was also traced to Cerritos,CA What a nightmare. You come to a night club hoping to dance and have fun, but end up getting robbed and harassed. WORST PART IS IT IS AN OPERATION RAN WITHIN THE EMPLOYEES. Multiple reviews of people with similar experiences. UNSAFE PLACE STAY AWAY.

Amazing bartenders, Andrew is amazing. One of my go to's in San Diego. And great music, it does get a little hot In there but other than that, great.

Onyx is the place that I've been looking for. It shouldn't be this hard to find a place that has good music to dance to. I'm not an EDM girl so I had been searching for a place with a good mixup of hip hop and other nostalgic songs. This is imperative for me because I'm a sober sister and I can't get so drunk that I forget the mediocre music and have fun (lots of clubs in Gaslamp are lame like that). I've heard that Onyx has had incidences of stealing so be warned that you shouldn't bring anything valuable. But I've never had as much fun during a night out as I have at Onyx! It's not a huge space but it is definitely enough to have a good time:))

My friends and I went on a Friday night and arrived right at 10pm, there was a line but it moved very quickly. We spoke with Mundaca about potentially buying a table and he was very helpful and informative of the table minimums and what he recommended. He asked if we were celebrating anything and we said it was our friends birthday, he then surprised her with a pink birthday sash and a marquee sign!! How nice, overall it was a great experience with all the staff and we stayed till the lights came on. The DJ was great and played a mix of Hip hop & RNB on the main floor. We did check out the other lower levels too which had good music.

This place is way too hot inside during the night. They need some sort of AC's inside. Not only that but the wait times are insane at times.

So when I got to my car I realized I didn't have my phone. I went back after they closed and the security people were still outside, I asked if they had found a phone and some guy told they did. I was so happy I thought it was gone forever. Thanks for finding my phone. Love you guys

Decided to do bottle service last minute at this place. Not going to lie this place gets poppin! Definitely worth doing bottle service if youre in a group rather than standing in line for so long and the line gets really long at this place. Big shout out to Munzada the VIP coordinator for hooking us up and getting us a table we really liked. We checked in, passed the long line, and got seated at our table next to the DJ. Bottles are moderately priced. Our servers were amazing and really accommodating. Place is filled with younger crowd and the ratio is good. Music is good and SUPER LOUD so make sure your ears are prepared lol....What really sucks is the fact that the DJ transitions through each song tooooo dam fast. It got really irritating because there would be songs that play that gets you hyped up to dance and then seconds later it turns over to another song. Overall, I highly recommend this club! Would definitely be back!

*DO NOT COME HERE* I had my phone stolen here! I had it inside my purse and checked and it was gone. Within the first 30 minutes being here. I went around asking people and security if they seen a i phone. One of the female security's told me that people have been "stealing phones" lately here. Seems like security's doesn't care and acted sketchy. My friend went to go confront the security and asked them questions about my phone and kicked her out! Don't come here unless you want to be robbed!

A great standard issue nightclub. Nearly perfect mix of hip hop and top 40s upstairs for those seeking it. Drinks are a little pricy, but where aren't they? The outdoor space in front is great for taking breaks to air out and cool off. Bartender Antonio is the man! Always on it, super polite and entertaining. Only thing is, they BLAST the music every night and I lose hearing every single time I come lol. Maybe lower it a couple of notches yall! Line to enter gets long fast, but after like 11pm the line wait is usually 15-20 minutes in my experience, cause it gets so hot that the 10pm crowd starts to leave. I've met lots of cool people here! Haven't had a bad time here yet.

Within 15 minutes of arriving, my friend's wallet and my other friend's phones were stolen from within their purses. And after asking people around us several other phones were stolen as well. The professional nature of stealing from a closed purse should 100% deter anyone from coming to this location, as it seems to be a target. My friends made an active effort to keep their purses in front of them. Onyx NEEDS to implement bag searching upon entering and also leaving, even if it's just a quick search.

Don't come unless you want your phone stolen... This place is a target for thieves. More people around me also got their phones stolen as well. This is not a safe place.

Great music, multiple floors so you won't get bored and drinks are relatively in expensive. Definitely a place to bring the girls! I do have to say that their customer service is great. after a great night, and losing my phone in a drunken state, mr andrew was able to help me in find my phone. I received my phone after contacting the club and following up with Andrew. Andrew handed the phone off successfully and was very kind. if you ever lose your phone, there is a way to get it back!

I lost my debit card toward the end of the night a couple nights ago and the club was packed. I talked to the General manager Juan and he told me to take down his email and email him about it. He found the card at the end of the night and held onto it for me. This is amazing service and not the first time I've had great service from this club! Definitely my favorite spot in San Diego, definitely going back

Easy to find close to eateries for after party Great bathroom attendant stocked and there was no struggle for drinks

Previous clients of my, had there valuables stolen. Mainly there phones were the main targeted items. 3 dummy phones were set up in the pass 2 months and were stolen but still tracked while the phone were turned off. 2 of the phones were pinged to 2 locations and had them under surveillance. 2 of the suspects were security guards at onyx. Tell me why every time someone went to complain about valuables stolen the security would cover their tracks by kicking them out.

Went here for my best friends bachelorette this past weekend! Everyone was so friendly David and Brandon basically helped me plan the entire thing and gave us the most incredible experience. Our bride literally had a blast and felt so special. The bottle girls were so inclusive and fun we seriously laughed and danced the entire night, we even ended up getting more bottles as the night went on because we just didn't want the night to end!! 10/10 recommend huge thank you to our bottle girls and our VIP hosts David and Brandon

Friday night 10:15 pm - barely any line and cover was 20. Great music the moment you walk in and ladies, dress to impress. That can be whatever you fell hot in because the ladies and gents came with all different styles. All kinds if ethnicities which is what I appreciated the most. Young crowd though everyone was nice and having a good time. Bartenders and staff on point. We left about 12:30 cause my friend couldn't stand on her heels any longer and the line was around the block. So, get there early and take care if your bartender. I did and got two free shots! ;) Enjoy!

This place gets really packed. I came here over the summer for a bachelorette weekend and it was crazy. We got charged $20 to get in but got a free drink card for when we got inside. The beginning part of the night was nice but towards the later part of the night, this place gets so busy. It was overly packed with people and there was no room to dance comfortably without someone touching us. One of our friends also got her wallet and phone stolen which was pretty unfortunate. The music played here is great and it's unfortunate that they have such a bad reputation of theft. After reading more reviews with similar experiences to mine, I won't be returning!

We planned a 3-day San Diego weekend for my birthday celebration, and I knew i wanted to go dancing for 1 of the days. We did research on best clubs in SD, and Onyx Room kept coming up. We booked a table and were connected with our host, David Mundaca. He walked us to our table and introduced us to our server. He was the best & kept checking on us through the night. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. I went for a Bachelorette trip and got my phone stolen out of my purse within the first 30 minutes of arriving. I went outside to tell the security guard and he told me he would keep an eye on everyone that leaves, he then proceeded to slap a woman's behind (she was ok with it but what kind of professionalism is that as a client is standing in front of you panicking. They did nothing to help and as soon as I left I checked these reviews and see that so many others have dealt with the same issue :/ if I would've known they steal phones here I would've never gone. It's been 2 months since the incident and it now shows that my phone is in china, and they have apple paid themselves $500 as well as hacked into my Apple ID so I lost all 10 years worth of photos.

First time here last month..3 rooms for a club was nice, first room had good music playing throw backs then the dj turned to shit and made us leave all under an hour???.. luckily we found the other rooms and were able to stay for a bit longer now the djs in the Latin room were I avoided the long ass line by bringing cash! Now for the bathrooms...The girl's first stall needs to be fixed u can see everything inside even the toilet was broken?? Idc if it was justs girls I don't want no one seeing my cooch! how you getting so much money from guests but cant fix the bathrooms???! and ladies and gents if u can't handle ur drink STAY tf at home cause I saw drunk people tryna pick up fights including w me have fun

Unprofessional establishment. Bartender gave herself an extra $20 tip on my card. Wouldn't recommend unless you want to be robbed.

From the outside, it presents as a great gas lamp night club, unfortunately the drinks are watered down and music is stale. If it wasn't so pricey, it would have its place. Best to keep walking.

From nyc visiting san diego and all I can say I'm flying back just for the vibe alone! Great music, great vibe, great drinks!! All around an amazing night! Would recommend. Too bad I could only give 5 stars! I wanted to give 10 stars!!

It was a good time! The cover charge is $20 but it is cheaper if you reserve online and get there before 10pm. The drinks were a little pricey for a $20 cover charge. We got 2 AMFs that were $15 each. The bottom level was all regatón and Spanish music with two separate rooms for dancing. And the top level had throwback hip hop music which a large dance floor. It was very hot though but no mind really cared it was because everyone was dancing! Overall I would recommend. There is always a line to get in but it goes by fast and there is also a dress code***

Cool place I don't remember much but the bartenders are dope and all levels are fun I can't believe I was able to get up and down those stairs
