Onyx Room

Very disappointing and felt ripped off. Paid more than a thousand dollars upfront for bottle service plus 20% mandatory tip for literally the worst service I've ever had in a club. Our server was absent the entire night and I had to actively search for the staff to ask them about our order (multiple times). They finally delivered our second bottle after an hour and half of waiting; And then never saw our server again for the rest of the night. The bottom floor was pretty much empty until midnight when they finally changed the DJ and the music got better. Maybe this was just a bad night, but I don't feel like going back. Bottle service was definitely not worth it and service was horrible.

Onyx is great for a night out especially due to the diversity in music and it having 3 different floors. The staff is also super helpful and kind. I lost my phone there thinking it was gone for good. My sister called my phone and the bar manager Andrew answered it saying it was in the lost and found. He was super kind and helpful in trying to get me my phone back. He went above and beyond to help us and stayed in contact with us even on days Onyx was closed. He let us know my phone was safe in the lost and found and was set aside for us to pick up. Andrew met up with us and allowed us to meet with him early at the lost and found to retrieve my phone. He did not have to go through the hassle of all of that but he was so incredibly kind and genuinely wanted to help me out. This goes to show how Onyx has great staff and employees that care about their customers! I got my phone back which I am so grateful for thanks to the help of Andrew! Would definitely recommend for those looking for a great place to go in downtown San Diego!

Do NOT go here! They charged my friend $15 to hold his hat in a locker beacuse he couldn't wear it inside. They charge $20 per beer. The service was terrible. Find a better club, this one has way too much improvements to make.

Club is really fun. Bottom floor is reggaeton, and the main floor is a mixture of your typical club mixes (Top 40, hip hop, edm). It’s a free entry if you go to their website and get a mobile ticket. However I think it’s free with a ticket until 10:30.( don’t quote me, double check their Instagram) other than that the club is nice with a lot of space. It gets pretty packed. I’ve been 3 times and each time I’ve always had a good time. The video I included is their main floor.

Stopped by while I was in town for a different event, according to TikTok, Onyx is the place to be…however I’d rate my experience as average. To get in, there was no line when we arrived (just around 10pm- opening) and the security must have been on a power trip, they made my group and I walk through the sidewalk and form “a line” amongst ourselves before they would even talk to us… lol. Very odd, but I didn’t let that get to me and continued on, I can say the host or the gentleman that was toward the door where you can pay was SUPER nice and accommodating! He noticed my birthday had passed a few days prior and provided me with a sash and a free shot ticket- that was a nice touch! Once we got inside, the music was Top 40 in both the upstairs and downstairs (there is a third floor but it is not open on Friday’s). Overall, it wasn’t busy so I didn’t wait for the bathroom but I could imagine that line gets crazy when it IS busy- for women there was only 3 stalls I believe in the downstairs (where my group was for most of the night). Overall, as I stated an average experience, would I go back? Not sure, perhaps not; as nothing was super alluring. (My points of comparison are other bars/clubs that we ventured to after checking out Onyx.)

Having a dress code restriction this days is ridiculous. When you have so many expensive brands making old looking close. And you guys charging for looker use is unacceptable. And this place definitely needs more ventilation it’s so Suffocated.

Had a great time at Onyx Nightclub last Friday night a few of my girlfriends were in town and I wanted to show them a good area in San Diego that played both Latino and Hip Hop music. The music was so good that we couldn’t stop dancing. We hadn’t been back to Onyx since the pandemic and I’m so glad we stopped in. The interior is newly remodeled and upscaled. The bathroom lines did not take an eternity and that’s always a big plus in my books! 10/10 if you are in the mood for some great music and strong drinks :)

Place is great, bartenders are fast workers are cool and Can we please get The doorman and outside Security some Heaters. It's getting cold out and having to work outside with no heater source sucks Let's get them some heaters and keep them warm

I recently lost my phone there over the weekend, and after not knowing what to do I went online and saw there was a lost and found department with contact info. I copied the email, and wrote the department head and within minutes Juan Rangel contacted me back! He was super attentive and even though he was on vacation he took time to tell me my phone was found, set up a time for me to pick it up and made sure the guys at the club didn't make me stand outside too long for my phone! Overall one of the easiest and nicest interactions I could've had while getting my phone back! Super lucky Onyx has such a great staff! Would lose my phone again there but hopefully that never happens haha!

This club is a great time with the right friends. It's $20 entry I think it's free entry before 10pm on fridays If you're looking for a spot that plays Bad Bunny, Rauw Alejandro, Cris MJ, Fuerza Regida, Peso Pluma, Feid, Myke Towers, Karol G, J Balvin, Ozuna, and old-school reggaetón, this is the place for u. Upstairs, they play more trendy music, while downstairs is mostly reggaetón, sometimes banda mixed in.

Shout out to my girl Kayla. Sweet lady made my birthday so special for my friends and I. Chefs kiss to that lovely woman. Also the white guy in the basement ATE DOWN on the bar like actually. Had a great night. Great vibes, music, staff.

Such a weird place. Had a terrible experience here. It's like teleporting to Tijuana in the worst way. This club had a very hostile vibe besides the fact it was really dirty. I wouldn't go back even if I was paid to.

Went here for a few birthdays, it's super fun and the drinks are strong in the best way. Music was great and the vibes were immaculate! Definitely wanna dress pretty nice if you wanna check it out, I've seen a lot of guys get turned away if they're wearing sneakers.

Juan was very awesome and helpful! We have such a good time thanks to him. Such a fun night with the girls out and the music was great!

The energy in the club is amazing, but what really made the night stand out was the exceptional bartender (Andrew) who went above and beyond the entire night. From the moment I approached the bar, he greeted me with a welcoming attitude and genuine hospitality that's rare to find in a busy nightclub setting. Despite the crowd, he was extremely quick, efficient, and super professional. Never once letting the pace affect their positive vibe or attention to detail. You could tell he takes pride in his work and care about making sure everyone feels taken care of. If you're heading to Onyx and want an adventurous night with great music and drinks with top-tier service, keep an eye out for Andrew at This night club.

Dear Onyx San Diego Management, I am writing to share my recent experience at your venue, which unfortunately left me very disappointed. I was enjoying my night at Onyx until I realized my phone was missing--likely stolen. I asked a staff member if he had seen it, and he was kind enough to help me look, but we couldn't find it. When I stepped outside briefly and went to return inside, I explained the situation to the security guard at the front door. Instead of showing any understanding, he simply repeated "no re-entry" and refused to let me back inside. I understand the no re-entry policy in general, but given the circumstances--having just lost my phone inside your establishment--I feel the guard's response was unnecessarily dismissive and inconsiderate. A more empathetic approach would have made a big difference, especially since losing a phone is already stressful enough. I hope management takes this into account and emphasizes customer care and situational judgment with your security staff.

10/10 went for my first time and i definitely had a blast different rooms different music it's definitely a fun vibe to enjoy a night out !! Would def be coming again enjoyed it considering everyone was +21 too

5 Stars - Unforgettable Night Thanks to Andrew! Was planning a night out in San Diego and stumbled across a Reddit thread mentioning Onyx. One of the comments highlighted Andrew, a bartender there, saying the club was a blast and to DM him on Instagram if interested. I reached out, and Andrew was awesome--he helped get me and my friends in for free and made sure we had an incredible time. The club itself had great energy, good music, and a fun crowd, but what really made the night stand out was Andrew's hospitality. Super friendly, responsive, and genuinely wanted us to have a great experience. If you're looking for a fun night in SD, Onyx is definitely worth checking out--and Andrew is your go-to guy. 10/10 would recommend!

I love going to Onyx! Karina the bar tender is attentive without being overbearing, she's super friendly, and makes you feel like a regular even if it's your first time there. She remembered our drinks and was so positive and kind. Plus she makes the best drinks ever!!

Juan was super great with all his help! We were having trouble with the guest list and he was there to figure it out.

My friends and i have gone to onyx quite a few times and honestly the reason we keep coming back is because of the great service the bartender karina gives. She's super friendly and always receives us with such big positive attitude. We love her!!!!

Onyx room exceeded expectations from the diverse vibe of all three rooms to the amazing staff always on their toes serving drinks at laser speeds! Not only does it provide an experience for all but Andrew's consistent social media promotions and business card entries keep the attendees coming back for more! 1000 times recommend and bring my friends back every time I'm in Gaslamp.

Onyx has the best staff and bartenders, we went last weekend to see Karina after she had been away for a while, but we are so happy she came back because she is really the life of the partyyy

BEWARE THIEVING OPERATION RAN BY ALL EMPLOYEESS‼DANGEROUS FOR WOMEN 2 WALLETS & 1 PHONES STOLEN WITHIN ONE NIGHT 1/15/23 Visited ONYX in what was suppose to be a fun night out. WATCHED EMPLOYEE STEAL PHONE OUT OF FRIENDS COAT POCKET. WHEN I APPROACHED THE EMPLOYEE I WAS CONFRONTED. My friend whom I shared my Apple location with, immediately gave me her phone to track. I was able to was able to pin point location. Thus I showed the phone to the host, she immediately accused me of lying. When I showed it her the exact location, she Immediately became shifty and began stuttering. Then called Management. Management laughed in my face and told me to "find" it then. Immediately threatened to "86" me. I agreed to stand out of the club as I called the police. SECURITY PROCEEDED TO INTIMIDATE ME TO LEAVE. Felt threatened and in danger we decided to leave for our safety. Come to find out at the end of the night the entire group of us...3/5 women group were robbed. 2 wallets were robbed and denied transactions at Target in Cerritos, Ca the next day. The 1 stolen phone was also traced to Cerritos,CA What a nightmare. You come to a night club hoping to dance and have fun, but end up getting robbed and harassed. WORST PART IS IT IS AN OPERATION RAN WITHIN THE EMPLOYEES. Multiple reviews of people with similar experiences. UNSAFE PLACE STAY AWAY.

Onyx was fucking lit drinks were affordable and the music was good asf by the end of the night my ears were ringing because the music was so loud which I fucking loved it was so loud recommend going also they have 2 other rooms but didn't get to check those out since the first floor was so lit

They only play Bad Bunny for the floor downstairs that's for Latin music. It sucks because I was hoping to hear Rauw Alejandro & Cris Mj who are also very popular in the reggaeton world. Don't get me wrong, I love Bad Bunny, I just am tired of hearing his music over and over for the past 2 years :/ when there's other artists that are just as good. On a different note, they do have ADA access to use the elevator to go downstairs but when I asked to use it again as I was leaving they thought I was too drunk to not use the stairs so they didn't really understand my situation with a slight buzz I had to explain myself and not sound drunk which is really hard when you're literally intoxicated. It sucks that this was my experience hopefully someone else has a better experience.

My friends and I went on a Friday night and arrived right at 10pm, there was a line but it moved very quickly. We spoke with Mundaca about potentially buying a table and he was very helpful and informative of the table minimums and what he recommended. He asked if we were celebrating anything and we said it was our friends birthday, he then surprised her with a pink birthday sash and a marquee sign!! How nice, overall it was a great experience with all the staff and we stayed till the lights came on. The DJ was great and played a mix of Hip hop & RNB on the main floor. We did check out the other lower levels too which had good music.

Had a fun time here on Saturday night celebrating a friend's birthday! Music was great in all the rooms and my friend group danced until closing basically. Our drinks were so good and our bartender Andrew was very nice and friendly despite it being super crowded at the bar. Would definitely come back!

Not only was this place super fun, had great music, and 3 dance floors, I also had the best customer service experience. I lost my wallet at ONYX and their manager Juan was able to assist me and locate it! I will definitely be going back knowing that they handle stressful situations well.

Onyx is the place that I've been looking for. It shouldn't be this hard to find a place that has good music to dance to. I'm not an EDM girl so I had been searching for a place with a good mixup of hip hop and other nostalgic songs. This is imperative for me because I'm a sober sister and I can't get so drunk that I forget the mediocre music and have fun (lots of clubs in Gaslamp are lame like that). I've heard that Onyx has had incidences of stealing so be warned that you shouldn't bring anything valuable. But I've never had as much fun during a night out as I have at Onyx! It's not a huge space but it is definitely enough to have a good time:))

Decided to do bottle service last minute at this place. Not going to lie this place gets poppin! Definitely worth doing bottle service if youre in a group rather than standing in line for so long and the line gets really long at this place. Big shout out to Munzada the VIP coordinator for hooking us up and getting us a table we really liked. We checked in, passed the long line, and got seated at our table next to the DJ. Bottles are moderately priced. Our servers were amazing and really accommodating. Place is filled with younger crowd and the ratio is good. Music is good and SUPER LOUD so make sure your ears are prepared lol....What really sucks is the fact that the DJ transitions through each song tooooo dam fast. It got really irritating because there would be songs that play that gets you hyped up to dance and then seconds later it turns over to another song. Overall, I highly recommend this club! Would definitely be back!

Amazing bartenders, Andrew is amazing. One of my go to's in San Diego. And great music, it does get a little hot In there but other than that, great.

A great standard issue nightclub. Nearly perfect mix of hip hop and top 40s upstairs for those seeking it. Drinks are a little pricy, but where aren't they? The outdoor space in front is great for taking breaks to air out and cool off. Bartender Antonio is the man! Always on it, super polite and entertaining. Only thing is, they BLAST the music every night and I lose hearing every single time I come lol. Maybe lower it a couple of notches yall! Line to enter gets long fast, but after like 11pm the line wait is usually 15-20 minutes in my experience, cause it gets so hot that the 10pm crowd starts to leave. I've met lots of cool people here! Haven't had a bad time here yet.

*DO NOT COME HERE* I had my phone stolen here! I had it inside my purse and checked and it was gone. Within the first 30 minutes being here. I went around asking people and security if they seen a i phone. One of the female security's told me that people have been "stealing phones" lately here. Seems like security's doesn't care and acted sketchy. My friend went to go confront the security and asked them questions about my phone and kicked her out! Don't come here unless you want to be robbed!

This place is way too hot inside during the night. They need some sort of AC's inside. Not only that but the wait times are insane at times.

Within 15 minutes of arriving, my friend's wallet and my other friend's phones were stolen from within their purses. And after asking people around us several other phones were stolen as well. The professional nature of stealing from a closed purse should 100% deter anyone from coming to this location, as it seems to be a target. My friends made an active effort to keep their purses in front of them. Onyx NEEDS to implement bag searching upon entering and also leaving, even if it's just a quick search.

So when I got to my car I realized I didn't have my phone. I went back after they closed and the security people were still outside, I asked if they had found a phone and some guy told they did. I was so happy I thought it was gone forever. Thanks for finding my phone. Love you guys

Don't come unless you want your phone stolen... This place is a target for thieves. More people around me also got their phones stolen as well. This is not a safe place.

Previous clients of my, had there valuables stolen. Mainly there phones were the main targeted items. 3 dummy phones were set up in the pass 2 months and were stolen but still tracked while the phone were turned off. 2 of the phones were pinged to 2 locations and had them under surveillance. 2 of the suspects were security guards at onyx. Tell me why every time someone went to complain about valuables stolen the security would cover their tracks by kicking them out.

The service was amazing especially our lovely servers. Thank you Priscilla for making this club feel special!!! DEFINITELY RECOMMEND AND DEFINITELY COMING BACK

Went here for my best friends bachelorette this past weekend! Everyone was so friendly David and Brandon basically helped me plan the entire thing and gave us the most incredible experience. Our bride literally had a blast and felt so special. The bottle girls were so inclusive and fun we seriously laughed and danced the entire night, we even ended up getting more bottles as the night went on because we just didn't want the night to end!! 10/10 recommend huge thank you to our bottle girls and our VIP hosts David and Brandon

Friday night 10:15 pm - barely any line and cover was 20. Great music the moment you walk in and ladies, dress to impress. That can be whatever you fell hot in because the ladies and gents came with all different styles. All kinds if ethnicities which is what I appreciated the most. Young crowd though everyone was nice and having a good time. Bartenders and staff on point. We left about 12:30 cause my friend couldn't stand on her heels any longer and the line was around the block. So, get there early and take care if your bartender. I did and got two free shots! ;) Enjoy!

We planned a 3-day San Diego weekend for my birthday celebration, and I knew i wanted to go dancing for 1 of the days. We did research on best clubs in SD, and Onyx Room kept coming up. We booked a table and were connected with our host, David Mundaca. He walked us to our table and introduced us to our server. He was the best & kept checking on us through the night. The music & drinks were top-notch. If you are in San Doego and looking for a club to get your dance on, check out Onyx Room and ask for David Mundaca.

This place gets really packed. I came here over the summer for a bachelorette weekend and it was crazy. We got charged $20 to get in but got a free drink card for when we got inside. The beginning part of the night was nice but towards the later part of the night, this place gets so busy. It was overly packed with people and there was no room to dance comfortably without someone touching us. One of our friends also got her wallet and phone stolen which was pretty unfortunate. The music played here is great and it's unfortunate that they have such a bad reputation of theft. After reading more reviews with similar experiences to mine, I won't be returning!

From nyc visiting san diego and all I can say I'm flying back just for the vibe alone! Great music, great vibe, great drinks!! All around an amazing night! Would recommend. Too bad I could only give 5 stars! I wanted to give 10 stars!!
