OOKA Montgomeryville is a super solid spot in the suburbs for sushi and cocktails. The menu has a great mix of creative rolls and classic favorites, and everything comes out fresh and beautifully presented. The cocktails are just as impressive as they’re balanced, fun, and a perfect complement to the food. The vibe strikes the right balance between upscale and relaxed, making it a go-to whether you’re out for date night or just grabbing drinks and sushi with friends. Definitely the best sushi spot in the area.

Each dish was meticulously prepared with complex, layered flavors. The Mango Passion Roll was a standout, following the delectable oysters. Our server, David, offered excellent recommendations and was an absolute delight. Overall, a fantastic experience!

An amazing BYOB with fresh sushi & the option of Hibachi! I love the rolls at this sushi restaurant because of how big they are one roll can surely satisfy you. We shared a few options but my all time favorite is shrimp tempura, I know it’s basic but they have the best tempura I’ve had and it’s literally the perfect bite. I always make sure I have my bottle of wine with me. The service is fast and amazing they are very friendly. Able to walk in but if it’s it the weekend i would book online or call in advance. Also the best Shrimp shumai I’ve had thus far

Gorgeous restaurant and was not busy but for a late Tuesday night there was a decent amount of tables. drinks service was fast and they sure try to upsell the expensive products on the menu labeling them as “most popular” or “personal favorite” and they were very fast with picking up plates but it was 8:30 so we understood. The service was good but a tad bit pushy. the food itself was amazing! very flavorful specialty rolls, great tempura (a bit undercooked veggies sadly) good pork gyozas and flavorful miso soup. the tempura banana was also pleasantly surprisingly amazing! I will definitely come again. For the price is actually worth the flavor a quality of the food.

Went there today for my birthday! Didn't make a reservation(my fault), but we were seated immediately at a hibachi table. The waiter and the cook were amazing, helpful and so friendly! Only my 2nd time there(1st time we sat on the other side with the normal menu. Fantastic and would highly recommend!

I decided to visit OOAK after seeing its high reviews on Google, but unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. Having enjoyed Japanese cuisine in various countries, I was excited to try this place, but it didn’t live up to expectations. The food presentation was very simple, and the flavors were lackluster. Initially, the service seemed promising—polite and quick—but things quickly took a turn for the worse. We were attended by three different servers, which caused confusion and inconsistency. While the cold dishes arrived quickly, the hot dishes for our party of four were delivered in two separate batches, with a 15-20 minute gap between them. The real issue arose when I ordered a fried dish and asked if it contained gluten, as I have a gluten allergy. The first server assured me it did contain gluten, but then another server came and said it was gluten-free since he had taken the order. Trusting his reassurance, I ate a piece of the dish, even though I knew there were gluten-free options for fried foods. Unfortunately, this caused me discomfort, though I was fortunate not to experience a serious reaction, but this could have been extremely dangerous for someone with a severe gluten allergy who needs an EpiPen. Afterward, the server confirmed with the kitchen that the dish indeed contained gluten, which was a huge red flag for me. This level of miscommunication and inconsistency around food allergies is concerning, and I won’t be returning. I highly recommend the restaurant improve their allergen information and staff training to ensure that situations like this don’t happen again. For those with food allergies, be extra cautious and double-check everything, as this could have been a life-threatening situation.

This was such a disappointment. I was excited to see a vegetarian friendly lunch special and got the bento box and a roll for pickup but the quality was so far below what I'd expect from even a so-so restaurant, let alone one that's generally highly rated. Maybe the experience is different for dining in and choosing non-vegetarian options but I can't see myself coming back here again The asap pickup order gave me a time of 45 minutes after placing the order, which is fine. I suspected it wouldn't take that long and picked up 35 minutes later. It was ready when I got there (not sure how long it sat) and everything in the bento box was soggy. The tempura and tofu were especially shocking. Absolutely no seasoning or sauce on the tofu, just the palest film of soggy batter. The tempura batter was also soggy, and the huge orange plank I thought would be a sweet potato was a carrot, cut too thick as it still had a raw crunch inside. The shiitake mushroom and crispy shallot roll looked (and tasted) like canned white mushrooms and french's fried onions. First piece was gross. Second piece wasn't any better so I called it there The best parts of the meal were the 3 pieces of cucumber avocado roll and the miso soup, both of which I would rate with a passive "fine". I really had high hopes, I wish the execution lived up to what the menu describes

Love this place! It's a good date spot, but I've also taken my teenaged children there. You can dress however you want and not feel out of place, some are casual while others may be a bit dressier. I enjoy the dinner when it's more crowded, but my favorite time to go is during lunch hours. You can't beat the price, and if you're lucky, you'll be the only person there, feeling like you're getting the vip treatment with you own cooking demonstration. A lunch must-try is the bento box! The food is consistently delicious!

My niece and brother-in-law never had hibachi before, so we knew we needed to take them when she came to visit. Since we are still relatively new to the area, my husband asked his boss for recommendations, and he recommended Ooka. We were not disappointed. The service is top notch and the food was plentiful. I'm glad we came hungry! The restaurant was beautifully decorated and clean. I look forward to returning.

I'm surprised the reviews for this restaurant are not higher! I've eaten here several times and I can confidently say it's the best Japanese food I've ever had. Everything is so fresh. The Chilean sea bass appetizer special is amazing. The steak yaki noodles are my favorite. Great selection of wines and saki. I'm not usually a big fan of Asian food or seafood but I love this restaurant.

Great service, nice ambiance, we arrived late for our reservation and they still honored our reservation. I know most people come for the sushi, this time I decided to go for the airline chicken, it was very average and I wish it would've at least been sliced, but the teriyaki sauce was really good. My date for the lobster dynamite which is always a crowd pleaser, but the doylestown location does as much better presentation of the lobster dynamite roll. Overall, decent but somehow think the doylestown location does everything better, even the miso soup as mine had 2 barely visible pieces of tofu in it and the salad was practically soggy with dressing.

Birthday celebration was great. Our granddaughter is a toddler and she loved the hibachi! We enjoyed ourselves and the food was good!

Lunch time visit after searching decent Sushi place. Clean and large inside with Hibachi place in the other side of space. Separating regular dining and Hibacji dining area is a good thing. Selected Sushi lunch set from the menu. Miso soup and small salad got served prior to Sushi plate. 7 pieces of Sushi and California roll. Very decent Sushi, but wish all 7 pieces were different as 2 pieces of Salmon Sushi were there. Price felt right about as everything got more after COVID. I will try their dinner Sushi when I get a chance.

Visited Ooka for a late lunch one day, and was not disappointed. The restaurant had a very nice ambience. The staff was friendly and attentive. The pineapple shrimp served on a hot stone with the table favorite. The teriyaki New York strip steak was also delicious. But everything we tried was really good. I definitely visit OOKA again.

Fresh sushi. Contemporary decor. Attentive and pleasant service. Ooka is an excellent sushi restaurant, which features a full bar, sushi bar, plenty of booths and banquets. The menu offers many options. I ordered the spicy tuna roll, a salmon roll, AC an eel and cucumber roll, and Montgomery specialty roll. Everything was delicious. If you're in the area, this is the place to go for sushi. I highly recommend.

Food was mediocre. The rolls become progressively shorter each time we ate there. Very long wait time which didn't help the experience.

Not the biggest fan of their sushi but loved the noodles, veggies, and that they had a brown rice option instead of fried rice! The flourless chocolate cake was BEAUTIFUL and so yummy. Their lychee mocktail was good, didn't even make me believe I was at a professional lunch date. Service was pretty quick and helpful. Ooka has cool modern vibes! I really liked it. Definitely good for a family dinner or even a date night.

We had reservations for hibachi but were not seated until 30 minutes after we arrived. Our waitress wasn't friendly at all and our order was incorrect. The chef didn't begin cooking until an hour after our initial reservation. I love supporting local businesses but the service needs to be improved. The food and drinks were good.

Party of two on wed lunch dined in, place was luxurious and spacious Ive heard of reputation of this place but then food... $4 of salad and $14 seafood soup looked like those soup and salad that come out as side dish even less quality,, special rolls are nothing ordinary , one roll that was recommended was $25 totally not worth it

Super fresh & creative menu. We ate everything up, it was great. We've ordered takeout & have eaten on site. The restaurant itself isn't very big but the atmosphere is nice, good vibe. I appreciate they keep the hibachi experience in a separate room. Not everyone wants to listen to the clanging of metal & people loudly exclaiming whenever someone catches a flying shrimp with their mouth. The James Bond roll & baked mussels are off the chain! The soba noodles with broth are also delicious. Albeit pricey, I still highly recommend.

Ambiance was nice. Very friendly staff. Not that it matters but I have never been to a sushi place where none of the staff was asian but for the sushi man. Weird. Hibachi grill was dirty when we sat down. Floor had rice on the floor. We waited for probably 20 minutes with two other people before our waiter showed up. Our table was sticky. Our plates looked like they were wiped down with a hand. Greasy. I took a napkin and wiped away the grease. Yuk. We should have just left but were hungry so decided to give the food a shot. The food was nothing spectacular. Very bland. Sauce was bland. My feet stuck to the floor in the bathroom. Very disappointed. We tried Ooka in Willow Grove and Doylestown and liked both.

Ooka is always a delight to come to. The service is fast and the servers are accommodating and polite. Been coming here for years and will keep coming!

First time trying it today and pretty disappointed. We were a party of five. The table that was given to us was shaking when we sat down, soy sauce was spilled. Our sushi did not taste fresh, it was hard and tasteless. I would also recommend the restaurant to close it for a day, and have a very good cleaning to clean off all the dust from the lamp shades and thoroughly clean the bathroom floors and tiles. I also watched someone clean off the tables without sanitizing them.

Perfect place for a birthday dinner and special events. So this is wifeys birthday, a Wednesday night and the place was full and festive. The service was very good and they were hustling. We sat around the Hibachi which was clean and neat. Chef does his thing, see video. He might need to tighten up his throws a bit as he missed my big mouth twice. No worries, the food was great, pics attached. You will shoot a few hundred here, but well spent. 4 stars.

Our favorite place to go for special occasions or an evening out. Wonderful service and food to melt in your mouth! We recommend the Hibachi room for a night to remember!

Not sure why it's taken me so long to write a review bc I love this place. I've had their hibachi, to their sushi, apps and especially their specials. One specifically stands out and almost don't want to post it bc then there'd be none left for me! Have I caught your attention?!? Fellow foodies and fish lovers ... you can't pass this up when your server tells you that they have the Chilean sea bass appetizer available. Honestly the best sea bass you'll have around here! Mouthwatering just thinking about it! It's that good! I'm a big fan of their sushi always so ever fresh and like I mentioned earlier you have to try their specials especially when it comes to the sushi. I mean honestly you can't go wrong with anything they serve here! Sorry for the lack of pics I can't seem to find any.

We came here for hibachi and had a great experience. Not much of a "show" but the food was delicious. Everything from the filet mignon to the rice and vegetables was full of flavor. Great restaurant for date night!

We love ooka. Have been going regularly for years. Food has always been consistently good. Recently the service has not been as good.

Ooka- any location- never disappoints. Tried the tuna tacos app for the first time and they were pretty good!! I've been going for years and don't know how I never realized I could get my sushi roll wrapped in cucumber. So refreshing I loved it!

Every time i have been here (10 plus) the food is always outstanding, the fish is so fresh and they have some really nice luxious sushi options. Service is sometimes hit or miss otherwise 5 stars. One of the best sushi places around.

I've waited until after a 2nd visit to review since I really wanted to give this place a chance. The first time around , I wasn't impressed with their sushi roll menu choices. Very basic all around from selection to presentation to taste. The sushi was "mushy" during both of my visits ( you'll know the difference once you have fresh sushi) and their was nothing distinct about it. Then onto the hibachi. We were crammed in along a back wall (the room is narrow) . The presentation during both visits was just ok. The chef seemed bored of the routine and did nothing extraordinary to make it exciting for the diners. I was excited to see scallops on the hibachi menu , but again was disappointed by the bland flavor and the skimpy portions . Very basic and chain-y food. Much better and fresher sushi in the area and by taking a little drive , a way better hibachi experience elsewhere.

My husband and I were here with our grandson and his parents for his 7 th birthday. Selina just could not have been nicer! The hibachi chef (didn't get his name) also entertained while cooking, and Selina was spot on with service and personality. The food was good, but the service was excellent.

Been so long since I've visited and decided I was in the mood for hibachi. Went for lunch during the week and I was able to be seated immediately. Enjoyed the NY Strip & salmon lunch special with the upgraded fried rice for an extra $3.50. I cleaned my plate & LEFT no crumbs lol. The lychee cosmo was good too!

Worst hibachi. The show itself was very short and boring compared to several other places in various states we've been. My full portion was the same amount as others half portions. None of the sushi tasted fresh. They don't have yum yum sauce (every other place we've gone does, and my kids love it). All of the hibachi meals in general were very bland. Don't waste your time or money

Always fun and delicious. A fun way to celebrate any milestone or special event! This is an entertaining way to go out to eat with the family.

The staff, the waiter to the front entrance everything was beautiful. Everyone was truly nice to my son and myself, Even though it was just us two. This restaurant made it an enjoyable experience. The food was so good and they were able to accommodate my son's food allergies. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant.

Emily and her staff always provide for a wonderful dining experience, and the sushi at any Ooka is the very best anywhere in the tri-state area!!!

My first time here was a good experience. If you want hibachi make sure you sit on the hibachi side of the restaurant, your guest can still order from the sushi menu. I ordered the scallop hibachi ($35) with the +$3 fried rice upgrade. Its the first time I ever paid $3 to get my white rice cooked on the hibachi grill. Its'a always been free.

I always love dining here. Delicious, fresh food whether at a table or hibachi. Always great service. Four stars for being a little pricey.

Food lacked flavor. Zero interaction from our chef. We came for the experience and got none.

The food was good, the miso soup was the best I ever had. My girlfriend really liked the sushi. The reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because I felt like the waiter was really pushy and trying to upsell us on appetizers and sides--which is okay, but it is annoying when it is obvious. I wanted hibachi, but apparently there are different sections which we didn't know about. I wanted to substitute my white rice for noodles, but they couldn't do that and wanted me to purchase noodles as an extra side. Regardless, it is a quality restaurant as long as you are okay and aware of the above.

We randomly found OOKA as we are not from this area. And wow.. what a find! We ordered 12 piece sashimi, 15 piece sashimi and a Chirashi Bowl, all came with miso soup and a salad, a sea bass bite special and Apple Jack Maki Roll. The fish was fresh and was delicious, lovely presentation. We had hot tea and Karakuch sake. Service was exceptional, our waiter Harry looked after us during our dinner, he described the specials so well we wanted to order all of them lol! He really was one of the best waiters we have ever encountered. Everything came out in a timely manner, we had great conversation over a wonderful dinner. We will definitely come back when we are in this town again. Thank you OOKA and Harry

We stopped in, ready for sushi because I've really not had sushi due to Covid. There was only 3 tables (people dining) in the whole place. It was nice and quiet. Our server was really wonderful. They had a lot of specials, which were all wonderful. Live Scallops, Kumamoto Oysters. We also ordered the Surf and Turf roll... which was the best sushi roll I've ever had in my life. No lie. It was live scallop/Kobe Beef/caviar. A bit pricey at $35, but it was unbelievable. We always order the sushi pizza, and other random sushi/sashimi. Take a look at the photos. I still think Blufin is better... but these guys have a bar. The decor is nice... we need to come back for a date night. Check out some of the pictures.

My time at Ooka was good the service is a 100/10 it is is amazing. The food is a 9.5 out of 10 the food is good the texture is not that great. The restaurant is decorated like a normal restaurant nothing fancy the temperature is bad I when you get in there it is freezing when they turn the the grill on you get really hot. The hibachi show is not that entertaining.

Service was amazing! Food was delicious! We sat outside due to Covid and even though it wasn't super fancy, it was clean and comfortable! Also the flourless chocolate cake dessert was to die for!!! We had a special Wagyu beef appetizer that we really enjoyed....we were served uncooked Wagyu beef and we cooked it ourselves on a hot stone! The sauce and seasoning with the app was also great, I believe there was a wasabi salt that went with it! Will definitely be returning!

We went to Ooka randomly one night we were in the mood to spend some money as it is a little pricey. My friend got the hibachi with filet, shrimp, scallops and fried rice. I got a medley of sushi, some specialty and some regular (see photo). It was good.

Took a chance on this place and I'm beyond pleased. I live in philly and have been to many high end Japanese restaurants and I wish we had Ooka. The food and drink were great but the service was incredible! I've never met a nicer staff, from the hostess to the bartender to chefs, absolutely incredible! My friends and I all had such an amazing time and if anyone from Ooka is reading this I want to give an extra thank you for such a nice time! From me and Jasper and Boots Also we had such huge portions we had to take to go boxes, was absolutely worth the money in food alone the amazing hospitality was a major plus
