Overall good food, nice staff, and good experience. Food is cheap and filling. The chicken teriyaki triangles are great. I like they have self service tablets to order your food. My only down part of this review is when it's busy, it gets crowded in there only because it's such a small place. But otherwise it's great!

Google
As a celiac I really appreciate that most of the menu is gluten free. I have never gotten sick from cross contamination here. You also get a really good portion of protein for the price. It is very simple food but it is delicious

Google
Great food, friendly staff, & quick service. Small location so when its busy it'll get crowded, might have to wait for a table if you want to sit down & eat

Google
I had spicy pork, short ribs, and salmon. It's was very delicious. I also have had their triangles, which are excellent.

Heads up! This is Americanized Onigiri (Japanese Rice Balls). You are not getting Japanese style “rice triangles” that you would find in Japan and Hawaii in terms of quality (type of rice and seaweed) and style (fillings). Initially the price seemed expensive because in Hawaii you can get onigiri for $2-$4, but here they are generous with the fillings and it’s a little bigger in size so the price seems fair. It was pretty good here, but I prefer the traditional Japanese style. It’s in a school zone so it can get busy. I found free street parking easily so that was nice. You order and pay with card on the device to your left when you enter. You can follow the directions on the screen to pay cash at the register. It was a full house, but orders were distributed efficiently and quickly. If the cashier is busy, the chefs help pass out the food so I thought that was great teamwork. If you want something fast and filling, head to Oori Rice Triangles!

My order came up within five minutes. The presentation is beautiful and the flavors are absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this place for a quick lunch. Yum!

Google
Very fast and the food is excellent. I had the fiery Buldak. Short rib and Double unagi triangles. Everything tastes great I highly recommend this place.

Google
The rice was not seasoned. The seaweed wrap was moist and not crunchy. I sat inside because it was a cold day. What I noticed on the edge of the window was horror. I hope they were black sesame but I doubted.

Yelp
Ordered for pickup the other day and the Triangles were delicious! We got the short rib, the unagi, the grilled salmon and teriyaki chicken. They were all very yummy but we especially liked the one with short ribs. I really appreciate that the filling goes all the way down/into the Triangles and the price wasn't bad at all either! Would definitely go again!

Yelp
Maybe 4.5 stars? This place is NOT meant to be super authentic Japanese food. It's more like Chipotle for Mexican food, if you want a comparison. It's got rice and onigiri and some (not too out there) seafood options and edamame, but that's where it kind of ends as far as Japanese cuisine goes. It's Japanese-lite fast food, how about that? But the quality is pretty good for what it set out to do. The food (both portion and quality) is pretty consistent, so you almost always know exactly what you'll get. That's a win for me. I always get the 3-item rice plate, with spicy shrimp, ahi tuna, and a third option that varies depending on my mood. You can ask for siracha and teriyaki sauces from them. I tried their wasabi packet once, but wow, that has a serious bite! I also add my own lemon and avocado, and it's a really solid, satisfying meal. The area is a bit busy, but there always seems to be parking available.

Jude D.

Yelp
Super delicious oori triangles! I had the spicy tuna, short rib and the spicy tofu. While they all could use a little extra heat, they were delicious! My fave was probably the spicy tuna, it was also like have a giant spicy tuna handroll. Also appreciate that the three pack comes with delicious edamame.

Cady A.

Yelp
Wow! I am so pleasantly surprised at this restaurant. I often make my own musubi/onigiri/rice balls at home so I try not to eat out for it, but this place is definitely somewhere I will go to again and again! The selection of different meats/fillings were amazing and delicious. I had the spicy samyang chicken and the kalbi. My boyfriend had the spicy pork, kalbi, and salmon. We got our order very fast as we barely had to wait. Even then, the food was still fresh and hot. It's a very cute hole in the wall but it does not have too much seating.

Yelp
The best place on Solano to grab a quick bite. I've been to all 3 locations and while they all stack up the same, this is the OG for me. The service is quick and nice, the shop is designed for takeout, but there is seating outside if you so desire (the Rockridge location has tons of seating if that's what you're looking for), and the food is so good. As a seafood lover, I always order a 3 Triangle Set with 2 Ahi Tuna and 1 Grilled Salmon. I usually ask for extra sauce to take with for the Salmon (pro tip). The set comes with edamame. While it isn't usually part of my order, the double unagi triangle is a crazy good deal for the amount you get.

Lynne L.

Yelp
I think new ownership or chef, but food wasn't as flavorful as I remembered. Pork and chicken were dry and cold. Won't be back.

Michele L.

Yelp
If you want a quick, convenient, filling bite, Oori Triangles just might be for you. That was exactly what we were looking for after our bike ride up Tunnel Road. Maybe because we also just came back from Japan recently, and we may have been looking for a familar taste. One of the things that caught our eye was the free set of edamame we get when we buy a set of three "Triangles". I loveeee a good plain bowl of edamame, so even if I can't finish a set of three in one sitting, I was going to order a set of three for the free edamame, haha. This place is street parking only, and luckily, we found a spot right in front! There's not a lot of tables inside nor outside, but I think turnover is quick enough that you wouldn't have to wait long if you wanted to sit and eat there. Inside is a little bare, but they provide everything you need for sit-in, or takeout. Something I noticed is that there seems to be a good amount of foot traffic there. Maybe it's a popular, small-bite restaurant amongst the locals? I'd love to have some place similar closer to home! For myself, I opted to get 1) Spicy Ahi Tuna Triangle, 2) Grilled Salmon Triangle, and 3) Double Unagi Triangle (there's an option to get single unagi or double)! My partner opted for the same, except he got a Short Rib Triangle instead of a Spicy Ahi Tuna. We also got a side salad, without cheese, to share. Dressing was provided on the side, and they also gave us two small containers for sesame seeds if we wanted to sprinkle them on salad/triangles! These triangles are more pricey than the onigiri you can get at Berkeley Bowl, or other supermarkets, but these are made-to-order (fresh and warm), and they are stuffed with ingredients. The rice to ingredient ratio is more like 1:1. They're also bigger size too - I would say maybe 1/3rd bigger than a regular onigiri. From my order, I would say the Unagi definitely tops the other two. My second favorite would be Spicy Ahi Tuna, and last is the Grilled Salmon. The Unagi is perfectly saucy, not too overwhelming in taste, and pairs perfectly with the rice. My Spicy Ahi Tuna was saucy as well. It wasn't really spicy at all - maybe they need to take the spice level up a notch. It's more mild in taste, but I preferred that today. Lastly, the Grilled Salmon Triangle. I don't normally like Teriyaki sauce, but I opted to try it as is today and it came with Teriyaki sauce. Maybe if I opted for no Teriyaki sauce, I would like it better, but I thought the salmon was a bit on the drier side. I also prefer the salmon in my onigiri flakey. It's still an good onigiri, just not for me. I also wish the edamame was just salted and boiled, but I think it's grilled, so a tad more flavorful that I'd like, but it's complementary, so can't complain! As for the salad? Mixing in the sliced gingers was interesting, but good! Salad was really fresh too. Would I come back again? For sure! I love how quick and convenient a Triangle bite is. It's also a perfect re-energizing bite after a bike ride. 10/10 would recommend if that's what you're looking for!

Yelp
Triangles (especially ahi tuna) and tacos (especially spicy pork) are amazing! So good, economical and fast!

Sanilie F.

Yelp
This place has been in my bookmarks for quite some time now. I decided to give it a try today because I wanted something a little different. I ordered the 4 piece triangle box so I could share with my brother. Spicy Ahi tuna, chicken teriyaki, short rib and spicy pork. My brother really liked the short rib. He said it was very flavorful and preferred it over the others. I really enjoyed the spicy ahi tuna. I liked the texture of it lol and the spicy pork was pretty good as well. They both had the best flavor and taste to me. The chicken teriyaki was not that good, I wouldn't order it again in future visits here. Edamame was good. Staff/service was nice and ambiance of the place... it was quiet because I came right as lunch time was getting started. Inside is very small and there are small tablets to the side where you can place your order. The order did not take that long to be ready.

Emily P.

Yelp
SPICY MAYO!!! I have been getting the tacos here for probably a year before they made the spicy mayo too spicy. It was better before they added the ungodly extra spice. I will still come here but not for the tacos until they change it :3

Lloyd C.

Yelp
Driving up to visit some friends, but got the munchies, so we decided to get a snack. Oh, I have a soft spot for musubis. We got some short Rib and salmon. Generous portions of protein in each. The short rib was tender, and marinated well. The salmon was grilled and perfectly cooked, as it was still juicy. It came with some Edamame, which was steamed or boiled.

Veronica L.

Yelp
Great food. Fresh tasting. Friendly place. I requested a large order. And my guests were very pleased with the meal.

Mypang T.

Yelp
It's cheap and was good but no where near authentic. We came since there was such high reviews. I was somewhat disappointed as the rice wasn't seasoned like sushi rice, it was just regular rice. Great vegetarian options offered. There's rice triangles, tacos, bowls, etc. They were busy too, with customers in and out. It's more like a order to go spot. We were lucky we got 1 table outside. I got the 3 triangle meal that comes with edamame. It's a quick spot for a cheap meal.

Pam N.

Yelp
We were pleasantly surprised how good everything came out even with our 25 min drive home. It's not an establishment that you come to sit down and eat. You order at the kiosk or with one of the staff and wait on the 4 stools near the door for your order. Everything was packaged nicely in compostable boxes. We got the chicken teriyaki plate with rice, edamame and lime. Very generous portion for$15. We got the 3 rice triangles. Short rib, spicy tuna and double unagi. All very good. I was bummed when we finished them. The rice is very sticky and the meat portion filled the triangle. Very good! We would definitely return. A ton of door dash drivers came in to pick up orders while we were there.

Winston L.

Yelp
An Albany staple. Simple, no-frills rice plates and triangles. The student bowl used to be a steal but now it's greater than $10 :(. Flavors are still the same as when I first got Oori many years ago. Our go-to is Spicy Pork for rice plates and Unagi for triangles, so good!

Asianae L.

Yelp
If you happen to take a trip to Albany, CA then you should come down and visit one of our many foodie rows. This street Carries some of the most delicious restaurants. Whether it is a date night, a girl's/guys' night out or just deciding what to eat for dinner, I advise you to check this city out! This restaurant is a small eatery with a large presence. The Japanese-inspired restaurant offers a limited but delicious food variety from the classic teriyaki plates to freshly made tacos. The eatery is limited in seating, but it offers indoor/outdoor options. The menu is showcased on a wide-screen monitor. They offer in-person ordering as well as noncontact ordering (online / pickup ). I ordered two teriyaki plates (purchased for someone) and 3 salmon tacos. The service was quick and efficient. From the server to the cashier, I was very happy with the service from beginning to end. I tried the Teriyaki plates before writing this review, and the chicken was moist and flavorful. You do have to ask for extra teriyaki sauce. The salmon tacos were ok. The salmon was moist. However, they loaded the tacos with a lot of cabbage and barely any sauce. I wish I would have asked for extra sauce. Overall, I would recommend visiting this restaurant and trying their food.

Yelp
I love this place. I recently discovered this place because I was craving for an onigiri on a late night. I've been here twice. I've tried: Short Ribs, Pork Belly, Grilled Salmon, Spicy Tofu, Spicy Kimchi Triangles. My fave? I can't choose, they are all equally good, well maybe kimchi is second above others. But I have a tip: when you order the grilled salmon, make sure you ask for lime. Drizzle the triangle with lime before you eat, the flavor is even more bomb. Good ratio of meat to rice. At least I was not wishing for more meat after I ate. For me it was perfect. But then again, I love rice. To my excitement, I was not able to take pictures of these except for the short ribs and spicy kimchi. I can't wait to try other triangles.

Sherry L.

Yelp
We came on a random weekday for lunch and for some reason, this place was popping! It's on an unassuming street corner, with a couple of makeshift tables outside. But don't let that fool you; the food is pretty good! We each got the 3 onigiri set, which comes with edamame. Doesn't seem like a lot of food, but it was pretty filling. You can choose whichever topping you like. I got the ume, spicy tuna, and eel. Everything was great!

Cricket H.

Yelp
The ahi taco was very tasty: fresh, nicely sauced and seasoned with lime. The tortillas likewise were fresh and high quality. I intended to eat on site, but each seating area I considered was, at best, not clean (recent food spatters on the outside tables, an unclaimed used container of salsa left on another) --and at worst, gross (a black hair and dust along the wooden dining counter by the window; a small piece of meat sitting on the other one). If I could have texted a Health Inspector, I'd have been tempted. It was 2:40 pm on a Friday, only one other customer was there awaiting take-out. So, no lunchtime rush to explain this -- and, frankly, the dirt didn't look that recent. I regretted having left a good tip when I paid in advance, since only the chef deserved one.

Angie H.

Yelp
This is a weekly staple for lunch. My spouse sometimes only eats one short rib triangle! I like to get the 3 triangle special since it comes with edamame and usually a spicy pork taco. Don't be fooled. There's two tortillas but it's one actual taco. I often do like that one viral TikTok and first eat it with one wrapped tortilla over the other so that it's kinda like two tacos when I'm done with the first because so much goodness falls out. Damn. My mouth is watering. Yesterday I got the chicken teriyaki student bowl. It was a lot of food! There was one unpleasant piece of hard cartilage and sometimes I get gristle in my short rib which is why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5. Super easy to order on their app and always done really fast.

Chris P.

Yelp
Strong geometric shapes! Building blocks for a healthy vegan diet. Only a handful of plant based options but it squared well with the teenager and myself.

Johnny N.

Yelp
This place was cool little spot in a nice area! Going inside there's 3 self service kiosk which was easy to navigate. I ordered (3) rice triangles & received edamame on the side for free! (1) short rib - pretty good! The meat was a bit dry but it was well seasoned (1) salmon - not bad either seasoned pretty good (1) spicy shrimp - best one out of the three I got! Not spicy at all though. Service was very fast when I went, I would recommend if you're looking for a small meal or a quick snack. There's seating outside which was nice.

Wells L.

Yelp
TL:DR - Super solid spot for quick easy to eat on the go meals. My favorites in order are spicy pork, spicy tuna, and then unagi/short rib/teriyaki chicken tied for 3rd. Did not like the spicy shrimp. Interior is small, but they are efficient and quick. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- I've been here a few times, and I've come to the conclusion that this place is consistently solid, particularly for just quick take out. Nothing here blows your mind or is particularly noteworthy, but everything tastes pretty good, it's relatively cheap, very quick, and super easy to eat on the go. So if I need something quick for dinner, Oori rice triangles is always a contender. That being said, my favorite triangles are spicy pork which is fatty and full of flavor, then spicy tuna which tastes pretty fresh for a fast casual spot with a good creamy spicy sauce, and then the unagi (I prefer the single for a more balanced rice to meat ratio), short rib (more fatty than flavorful), and teriyaki chicken (solid but unspectacular, reminds me of the teriyaki chicken samples you get at the mall) are tied for third. I will say I'd avoid the spicy shrimp. The shrimp flavor almost melts a little too well into the creamy/spicy sauce, so it's just like decadent overload for me. felt like I was eating mayo mixed with butter. The interior is small, pretty much 4 counter spaces against the front window, pick up counter, and two tablets for ordering. There's limited outdoor seating. Parking can be a little difficult during rush hour too. All in all, do love it for a quick to go meal. Enough good food to keep me coming back.

Kyra K.

Yelp
Oori Rice Triangles has been a staple spot for my friends and me throughout high school. We loved the convenient location on Solano, the fact it was affordable, and how the food came out hot, fast, and fresh. A few years later, my best friend and I found ourselves back here reminiscing on our high school days. Not much has changed since I last visited. The restaurant is small in size and is primarily a take-out spot. You're able to order online, on their app, or their tablets inside. You pick up your food and utensils at the counter and take them to go. They have two small counters and bar stools and a couple of tables outside to eat at. Service is quick and efficient as the workers both create the triangles and hand you your order. Parking is a breeze as it's free street parking on Solano Ave. My friend and I ordered ahead online and were pleasantly surprised that our food was ready before our designated time. She opted for the Three Triangle Box which comes with complimentary edamame, while I got the Two Triangle Box. You have the option to pick and choose what triangles you want which range from various meat, vegetarian, and spicy options. I decided on the Unagi Triangle and Spicy Shrimp Triangle (my two favorites). The Unagi Triangle comes with a tender and flavorful piece of unagi glazed in unagi sauce. While the Spicy Shrimp Triangle comes loaded with creamy cooked shrimp--I find it to be mild and not spicy at all. Both triangles had warm soft rice, the seaweed was a little soggy, not crispy, and tasted very light. We found the food to be the perfect amount--comforting and easy to eat. Oori has since expanded, with two other locations, but their original Albany location will always be near and dear to my heart. Their food usually comes out fast and for the most part, is consistent. The menu is simple to read with various Triangles, Plates, and Tacos. It's a casual spot for a quick meal.

V K.

Yelp
I have eaten here twice and find they have a good selection for different palates. There is spicy kimchi, meat and eel as well as a few vegan options and ume pickled plum- which is actually delicious. Its also very affordable. I live 25 miles away or I would go more. Wish they had an Oori closer to Marin county!

Earlene C.

Yelp
Delectable rice bites! Like a chubby hand roll. We picked up a 4 pack to take with us on a hike. Even cold these were delicious. I enjoyed the spicy tuna the best. Chicken next.

Lisha A.

Yelp
Yummy triangles are always tasty and made fresh. Great option if you don't want sushi but are craving rice and nori.

Sarah T.

Yelp
Love a good rice triangle and this place lets you choose a bowl, taco, seaweed wrapped triangle. Veg options include tofu, ume 2 tables in the sidewalk or take away. No bathroom More meat than rice--very nice Beef and salmon were best. Unagi not highest quality but fine. Chicken is thigh meat and good So this place is as advertised and a good quick stop for healthy food

cristina p.

Yelp
Was looking for something to eat today that didn't have "meat" in it. Was craving something sushi-related, so decided to stop in. Since it's Ash Wednesday, I ordered the trio triangles which included unagi, spicy ahi tuna, spicy shrimp. It included free edamame. There was a sign on the table that you can request teriyaki, sesame seeds, and red pepper. There were no options for those toppings on the tablet I ordered from. The place is very small, no dine in, but there are maybe three small tables out front. There are about 3-4 tablets that you can order your food from. My order came out really quick, in about 3 minutes or so. I wasn't sure if that was a good thing or not. Like the other recent reviews, the edamame was cold. The rice tasted like plain Jasmine rice and it wasn't warm either. Maybe it was already prepped, that's why my food came out so quick. It's a bit pricy for 3 triangles, about $15. There seemed to be good reviews about this place back when I had it bookmarked, but I guess the quality has gone down.

Amanda W.

Yelp
Easy, fast, delicious--great for kids and lunch at a park or on the go. Have been many times and never disappointed, quality is super consistent and people are nice

Rachel D.

Yelp
Employees talk amongst themselves, pay customers no attention. Food was fresh but not good in flavor. Tastes like they use bottled sauce. No authentic flavor at all. Just plain rice wrapped in seaweed stuffed with fillings. Spicy tofu-just tofu with chili sauce Grilled salmon- plain flavor salmon with very light sauce (taste bottled) My friends beef triangle- again bottled sauce flavor with chewy steak cubes!

Randy B.

Yelp
Food- very good, I had a spicy Tuna Triangle that was really tasty and nice and fresh fish and the spice was just right. Also, had the Short Rib, Spicy Pork and Salmon trio plate which was also excellent. Service and ambience I can't speak for since it was a takeout meal.

Michelle D.

Yelp
I love Oori's delicious bites every time. The triangles oooh are so so good. The teriyaki chicken makes you wish for the fireplace a movie and a cozy blanket. Seasoned to perfection, rice just right! Add a little siricha and omg good on top of good. A variety of goodness and even though the prices has elevated a bit. It is still a fav! Give them a try you will not have any regrets!

John L.

Yelp
After an exhausting hike at nearby Tilden Regional Park, we stopped by Oori Rice Triangles to check out their take on the classic Japanese onigiri or rice ball. But with short ribs, spicy pork, and kimchi on their menu, there were evidently plenty of Korean influences here. Aside from the Asian vibe were salads and tacos, too. We tried the Short Rib, Unagi, Spicy Ahi Tuna, and Spicy Shrimp Rice Triangles plus the Spicy Pork Rice Plate. The preshaped rice had a recess on one of its sides for protein placement. Then it was neatly wrapped with nori with some of the meat on display. They looked the part and they played the part! All the rice triangles were very tasty. The galbi bits were well-marinated, the ahi and shrimp had very good sauces, and you can't go wrong with broiled eel. As a bonus, three rice triangles earned us some edamame! For the love of gochujang, we had to try the spicy pork. It may have been left on the griddle longer than it should be as some portions were a bit burned. But worry not, we mixed them all together and the outcome was satisfying. Serving size was very generous for the price. Whether it's a full meal or some snacking, Oori Rice Triangles is the answer. If I lived nearby, I would be frequenting this place, maybe as often as you'll hear Olivia Rodrigo on the radio or any streaming app. Do you get déjà vu, huh?

Hanna L.

Yelp
I love this place. Fast service and really yummy onigiri. So far, my favorite was teriyaki eel onigiri, but other onigiris were pretty well put together. Sometimes I would have one taco and one onigiri for a quick lunch. Quite filling.

Joseph Anthony S.

Yelp
Everything is a winner for me here. Not too much rice either. I was surprised by how good the teriyaki chicken was. Grilled salmon is my favorite, but unagi is always a winner if you like it. I like putting sesame seeds and scallions on top. Nice that they put edamame on the side too. Service is hella quick too

Brandon W.

Yelp
Ordering made simple with the kiosk! We quickly placed our order and with all hands making the food, it arrived quickly. I ordered two salmons and one spicy pork and my better half ordered two spicy shrimps and a spicy ahi. My salmons were dressed in a bit of teriyaki sauce which give it a bit of sweetness and one of my favorite items to order. My second favorite is the spicy pork, which is still mild, some days I add a touch of sriracha sauce. My better half ate the spicy tuna, and it was a bit hotter than normal so I ended up trading out out one triangle for her spicy ahi. All triangles are full of flavor, and normally I go without extra sauce, but if you care for those items they are available. Near the napkins you will find the sriracha and soy sauce. If you need teriyaki sauce, you might need to ask for it. This particular day I had a late lunch and was traveling. So this was a quick light dinner and I continued my drive home. Great for a quick bite, I have also been here after a long bike ride and had a late lunch. A great place to stop by.

Reina R.

Yelp
They are my go-to restaurant and I've always loved their food. Been ordering consistently for about 1 and a half. Lately however I've noticed they no longer add this jelly sesame sauce(I assume it was the teriyaki sauce) with their teriyaki items anymore. Caution: Call and inquire about the salmon freshness before ordering anything with salmon. If it smells like stinky fish, it may not be fresh and could make you sick. They were kind enough to do this for me and I've had no more incidents of bad salmon since They're a really great establishment overall. Excellent customer service as well. The food is fantastic. I will continue ordering from here as my default meal for the day

Sarah Z.

Yelp
There really should be a zero star option. The food we ordered from here, was the worst takeout food I have ever had. The meat was not fresh; it was dry, flavorless, and plastic-like chewy. Everything was dry and bland. I am also not a fan of order your own food on the monitor over there situation (specially when someone is standing behind the counter) but wouldn't have thought of that as a big deal if the food was decent. So no service, low quality food, and dirty counters.

Bellea M.

Yelp
I realised late in the evening that I needed a brining bag for our Thanksgiving turkey. It was after 7pm before I found what I needed. Heading toward home I had people waiting for dinner. I was rolling down Solano when I spied Oori and had an "a-ha!" moment that they were my solution for dinner. Service was pretty quick and I talked with another customer who was placing his order when I placed mine. I have stopped in a few times in the past and grateful they were open that night. The different varieties are tasty and have a good ratio of meat to rice. One triangle was more than enough for me. Order three triangles and you get a handful of edamame tossed into the mix!

Jessica S.

Yelp
Great grab and go type of food. Very delicious. My family loves to get their 3pc triangles

Ruthe Ann G.

Yelp
I have ordered here a lot via DoorDash or pick up. The last two times I have ordered (spicy ahi small plate) had a weird texture but tasted okay. I ended up with food poisoning twice! I would not go back as I am tired of getting super ill. Do not recommend.

Donte B.

Yelp
Love this small eatery. The portions they give you are feeling. I like to get the rice bowl. I've tried it with all 3 meats and it never disappoints. Make sure you grab some teriyaki sauce

Patrizia C.

Yelp
I can't believe all the gluten free options here! We ordered 7 rice triangles and every single one was delicious!!! This will be from now on one of my to go places!!!

Arun R.

Yelp
Really great Japanese food and open late, but with a big catch: their system won't take online orders after 8:15pm, a full 45 minutes before they close, and they don't take any phone orders. So you have to physically go there to put in an order, which is kind of silly (the staff said that was the rule of their boss Chris). Not sure why it's 2024 and restaurants are playing games like this.

Vicky L.

Yelp
Was browsing for places to pick up food in the area and Oori popped up! I love onigiri and love Onigilly in SF; this spot looked very similar to it, so I had to check them out. Came out here on a Friday evening. There was only one person ahead of me at the time. The shop is limiting to number of people inside at a time and you have to wait for your order outside. Initially, I was attempting to order from the self-serve kiosk but one of the workers told me I could order directly from her. The lady helping me said the 2 most popular rice triangles were the grilled salmon and chicken teriyaki. I ordered those 2 flavaflavs and a spicy ahi tuna with miso soup on the side. The rice triangles are on the expensive side (pricier than Onigilly in SF), however, Oori has more options. They offer kalbi short rib, spicky pork, kimchi, crab, shrimp whereas Onigilly does not. The triangles are about $3.50-$4+ a piece, depending on what you get. The spicy ahi tuna was delicious and my fave! It had big chunks of fish and sauce so spicy I had to reach for a tissue to chase after my nose. The grilled salmon was my second fave (but I did come across fish bone) The fish wasn't dry and tasted good with the teriyaki sauce. The chicken teriyaki was just as good, moist grilled chicken and teriyaki sauce. You get a good amount of protein to rice ratio and the triangle didn't crumb and fall apart upon eating it. The order came with complimentary edamame if you order 3 or more triangles. I also received lime slices, extra teriyaki and sriracha sawwce. Getting a bag is extra btw. The miso soup have a couple of pieces of seaweed, tofu and green onions, it was perfect for a cold night. Overall, good eats. Ordering process could've been better, I had to repeat myself a few times when ordering from the lady because of the plexi-glass and cooking noise in the back was making it a little hard to hear. I waited outside for about 5-6 minutes as they were preparing my order. Street parking wasn't bad for a Friday night. And the food tasted pretty good even when reheated. Check them out and support small business!

Yelp
Great quick and healthy food! At a really reasonable price. Ambiance isn't much, but that's clearly not the point.

Yelp
Oori is one of the businesses along Solano Ave. that I patronize the most, and for good reason! To be perfectly honest though, I prefer the plates over the namesake rice triangles because for the price, the portions are absolutely massive. My go to is the three topping rice plate ($11.95, but a little extra for certain meats), which is pretty much enough to sustain me throughout the entire day. Is it the most amazing thing I have ever tasted? Absolutely not, but for what they charge, the amount of complaints I have is a big fat zero. The rice triangles themselves, while quite well made and delectable, are a tad on the expensive side, ranging in price depending on the type of toppings. Expect to spend at least $3.50 apiece average. You'd easily have to cobble together five or six of these to amount to what's in the aforementioned rice plate. The types of protein choices include, but are not limited to tofu kimchi, short rib, spicy pork, chicken teriyaki, grilled salmon, spicy ahi tuna, crab, and unagi (most expensive). Vegetarian options are also available, of course. The staff is not super friendly, but is quick and efficient. That's all you can ask for. Oori doesn't really have any indoor seating, pandemic or not, so if you are in seek of a comfortable dine-in establishment, it might not suit your needs. As of September 2021, all ordering is done through tablets, but whether this system sticks around for the long haul is to be determined. As I've been spending more and more time along Solano Ave. these days due to work obligations, my quest for fine eats in the area has taken me up and down the strip. Luckily, with Oori, I have found my mainstay spot for the foreseeable future.

Yelp
Onigiri or rice balls originated as far back as 11th century Japan. Shaped in triangles or balls, often flavored with salt and stuffed with pickled ume (plums) which acted as a natural preservative, wrapped in nori (seaweed) were popular snack food for Samurai warriors during numerous wars in feudal Japan. Now, the popularity of this snack food has been imported globally. Although not as popular as Sushi, Onigiri is a direct descendant of the much-beloved Spam Musubi that organically evolved in Hawai'i. Although I wouldn't put organic and Spam in the same sentence, I ask for forgiveness. This joint is located in Albany on a street corner that could easily be missed if you are not paying attention. It's a small place that sits a dozen or so patrons at a time, so it's quite quaint and cozy. Instead of calling them Onigiri's, here they call them triangles. We got a plate of the short rib and the following triangles: Short Rib, Spicy Ahi Tuna and Unagi (eel) with a side of Miso Soup. The triangles came with a side of Edamame. Let me start with the short rib plate...not what I expected and it was mostly chopped up. There were a lot of pieces that were hard and the meat was a tad too salty for my taste. The Edamame and Miso Soup were both bland and could've used more seasoning. I would say the triangles were the best they had to offer, and the Unagi was on point. It had a perfect ratio of protein to rice, but the rest of the triangles that we ordered had proportionately had more rice than protein. Flavor-wise, it was lacking that Umami punch that one expects and it's a good thing they had sides of sauces, hot pepper and sesame seed that you can add to counteract the blandness. However...it's cheap and filling, but didn't wow me. A Japanese would say: ma ma. A Korean would say: geujeo geulae.
