I visited Oota with my husband, for my birthday dinner and I loved the experience so much, I returned twice - once for breakfast with my in-laws, and once for lunch with my friend.
Oota is a fine-dine (and expensive) experience and great for special occasions and guests. While we were there, we saw a group or two of foreigners and NRIs accompanied by locals so that they could have a sample of Karnataka cuisine in tastefully done up space. Even their menu (on tablets) is interesting. Each dish is complimented with a visual representation of which part of Karnataka the dish originated from.
Oota is spacious, offers dining indoors as well as outdoors, which is great because Bangalore weather is pleasant on most days :) The decor is full of heavy brass lamps, and there's a cute reading nook to keep young guests occupied.
Note that usually no cutlery is provided, they encourage eating by hand, as a part of experiencing Indian food. The desserts however come with appropriate cutlery.
They also serve a lot of fritters and four kinds of dry chutney and whatnot complimentary. But be sure to not stuff yourself with these while you wait for your order to be delivered, because the food is yummy. I personally enjoyed their neer dosa, biscuit roti, masala dosa, rabdi/payasam, moong dal salad.
They have brunch packages as well, though i haven't tried them.
