"Inside this brightly lit corner spot awaits a Mediterranean experience that will make your senses come alive. Creatively crafted cocktails and a balanced wine list provide a wealth of choices to complement classic Greek fare including succulent grilled meats and fresh, vibrant seafood. The pikilia spread as well as the crispy zucchini and eggplant “Opa chips” will make the table happy before the entrees arrive" - Sam Herring

August 2025 First time here after walking or driving by hundreds of times over the years. So glad we gave it a try as both meals were delightful and not too expensive considering how great the food was. Both the Greek salad with chicken and chicken souvlaki were fresh, flavorful, and filling. Everything was wonderful, including the pita, slaw, and fries. Service was good and my only gripe is that the noise level is a bit too much inside, but we’ll be back again for sure.

Google
Great Greek food!! The real stuff. Avgolemono just fantastic, so flavorful yet delicate and not overwhelmed with lemon. Short rib with orzo is one of the tastiest dishes I've had in a long time (I eat out ALOT) Very attentive service and fair prices. Will be back!!

Google
Fresh, high quality, and delicious! We tried the hummus, the lamb/beef gyro, beet salad with garlic sauce, and sautéed spinach. Everything was healthy, flavorful and top notch. Inside, the decor is comfortable and elegant- they even have an outside seating area for nice days. Worth a try.

Google
We had a very delicious vegan meal here! After talking with our server, we were able to order the lemon potatoes, roasted veggies, hummus, zucchini chips, fries, beet salad, and the roasted veggie Gyro. Everything was incredibly tasty! The whole experience was very nice, as the atmosphere and staff are also great. While there are no specific vegan listings, we ate a ton and enjoyed it all!

First time here for dinner with my husband. Everything was delicious!! Service from the hostess to the waiter was wonderful. We will be back again!!

Google
Really great Greek food with good portions and taste! The eggplant dip and tzatziki were phenomenal, as well as the pita bread. Good flatbread and chicken souvlaki. We found the drinks were just fine, but the food definitely the star of the show.

Google
Excellent place for lunch. The food was very good and service attentive. We sat on the patio people watching while having lunch. Would definitely be back soon. OPA!

Google
best calamari in west chester, great service, and delicious food. however they don’t clear the finished plates. servers seemed to leave it for the busboys.

Yelp
Opa was amazing!! Some of the best Greek food I've had in a while. I loved getting to build my own chicken gyro, it was fun to customize and everything tasted super fresh. The chicken was seasoned perfectly, the pita was warm and soft, Also, the fries had great seasoning on them, which always takes fries up another notch. Sitting outside on the sidewalk in downtown West Chester added to the experience. It's such a lively, charming atmosphere. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Stayed nearby with family for a long weekend. Came through the town centre and saw this place so went back for dinner. Outdoor seating is great for the summer months and the restaurant is on the side of a street which gets blocked off into a big pedestrian zone. Great food, we tried the opa chips ( fried zucchini) and calamari to start. They had a really fun cocktail menu in a binder with drawings of the drinks. For main course we had a couple of the gyro platters, octopus and mousaka (it was a little cold inside but they were happy to make it warmer). Very fun vibrant place excellent for outdoor eating. Good service. You can walk down the pedestrian street afterwards to other bars/ cookie place / ice creams.

Yelp
I felt like I was taking a journey exploring Santorini and Crete. The atmosphere is set to look like the Greek Islands in the decor and feel. The servers all seemed to be of Greek heritage and were friendly and attentive. We started out with the Mediterranean Flatbread. I was chalk full of veggies and Feta. The rich balsamic gave it a ton of flavor. We also shared a gyro. Everything was good. The whole area of West Chester has a ton of places to eat. You can just about get any style you are looking for.

Yelp
Well, the experience so far isn't that pleasant. And here again I've been to this place when it was Opa Opa the vibe in here is definitely different from when they first open. I was gonna get an entrée, but I think I'm gonna keep it late simply for how the vibe is, but that's not saying the experience is bad. It's just very early and not a good start. I'll be back after I get my first app. food is outstanding service not so good. It was busy so I can kinda understand but it just feels like they could've been a little more prompt 2 1/2 out of five.

Yelp
Yooooooo this is the cutest spot I've been in a long time. We went here to celebrate my birthday and we have 13 people. The staff was attentive, happy, pleasant and attentive. The place is small but they handled it all! Drinks were on point and with proper pour. We have so many different food needs they were able to offer something from the vegan to the meatatarians. Fresh fresh food and so healthy! Just an epic time, a great place for anyone in the area. Top restaurant of all time for me.

Yelp
This is our go to for fish, although they have other things. We also like the opa chips and calamari. There isn't a huge amount of seating inside, but when weather permits they have a lot of seating outside. The restaurant is clean and has good service. We really like this place.
google avatar

Yelp
Great spot. Great setting. Friendly and personable service. And that's the best part. 10-15 minutes means 40-50. The octopus tasted fishy and wasn't prepared properly. Although it was tender. I'll give them that. The lamb and beef platter was as inauthentic as a supermarket kit with the thin rectangular pieces of meat. You know the kind. Lacking in flavor and all else that makes Greek food something special. The fish n chips were above mediocre. Compared to other Greek establishments in the area, and to other Mediterranean restaurants, Opa is a spot to hang and watch people. But falls short on food. The hype is hype. No substance. Won't be back...

Yelp
Friendly greeting when I walked in. Perfect Manhattan while I waited for my party. Quickly seated on a busy night. We went all out with appetizers and mains. Everything was tasty. $225 for 4 adults. Only drawback, it was too loud to visit. We had sore throats from talking so loud. It's a cozy space but I'd come back on a quiet night.

Yelp
We went to Opa this weekend on a recommendation and it did not disappoint! We started with the Opa chips, which were zucchini and eggplant lightly breaded and fried, they were delicious! For entrees we had the chicken gyro platter, spanakopita, and the lamb & beef gyro platter. The only complaint was that the appetizer came out at the same time as the entrees. We would have preferred a small break in between. All of the dishes were flavorful and very tasty! The service was great and the staff were so friendly and welcoming as well!

Yelp
A little bit of Greece in the heart of West Chester! The inside certainly reflects this, with gorgeous Greek-style decor. The service was quick and friendly, and of course the food was all delicious. We had the halloumi, grilled swordfish, Greek salad, grilled octopus, and baklava. The seasonings on everything really stood out in making everything taste especially great. I love that you get complementary pits bread as well. Overall, a wonderful spot, and I would love to return when it gets warmer and their lovely patio area is open.

Yelp
Simple and tasty Greek dishes. Located in the center of West Chester, the restaurant offers plates that you expect. The cocktails are above average. If the weather permits, the outdoor seating is pleasant. The service is attentive.

Sara C.

Yelp
First time here with friends, and we loved the vibe--super cute corner spot with seamless indoor/outdoor seating thanks to wide patio doors. Our server, Bekass, was great with recommendations and brought good energy. The apps were the highlight: fried zucchini chips were delicious, and the calamari was solid. The Greek lasagna was hearty and unique. Gyro platters were just okay--chicken was a bit dry and the lamb didn't stand out. 3.5/5

Yelp
Obsessed with Opa! This is one of my all time favorite local spots! The food is always fresh and absolutely delish. It is great for takeout but the vibes in the restaurant are amazing! The staff is so much fun, and the service is incredible. My go to dishes are always the Opa Chips and the Halloumi and Pita with Tzatziki! It never fails to be good! Their cocktails are also some of my favorite in West Chester, really fun creative options. I eat here or get takeout at least once a week! Absolutely amazing spot!

Yelp
Yum! This is a beautiful restaurant with great food & service. I ordered the Lamb & Beef Gyro and it was absolutely delicious. It's a huge portion so come hungry but it had so much flavor, you'll have a hard time putting it down! For dessert I ordered the Bougatsa and it was just okay. I wish it were sweeter than it ended up being so I'd probably order something different next time.
google avatar

Yelp
I love mediterranean food and this place might be my new fav spot! The chicken gyro platter was absolutely delicious. I ate the whole thing! Ambiance is nice inside and the service was also great. Highly recommend this restaurant if you enjoy greek food.

Yelp
I've ordered takeout from here in the past, it was always good. Husband and I were out for an impromptu date night and stopped by. They were packed (definitely make a reservation), but we luckily managed to snag a bar table with the help of George who seemed to be managing the front of house. Such an amazing experience. Vibrant restaurant with super friendly staff and beautiful decor. I ordered a butterfly lavender lemon cocktail thing and husband got a spicy cocktail with tajin rim. Both were very good. Fresh ingredients! We ordered the 3 dip app with a cheese saganki. Both were so good, but the dips with the pita were one of the best apps we've ever had. I ordered a Greek salad with chicken for my main and husband got the chicken souvlaki platter. We both were so full from apps that we took our meals home. The few bites that we had were so tasty. Chicken was juicy and full of flavor, salad was huge and packed with fresh veggies and a chunk of cheese, fries were crisp and well seasoned. 12/10. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick lunch with my wife on a beautiful spring day. We were seated immediately and were greeted by a very nice waiter. He knew the menu well and took time to explain the items. The food was great. The ambiance was lively and we will certainly return.
google avatar

Yelp
The hummus & pita is amazing. I loved the chicken gyro, amazing flavors & chicken. Even the French fries were amazing. The ambiance & area of the restaurant is beautiful. I sat outside but you can sit inside as well. Service was great & prompt as well.

Yelp
Really enjoyed my time here and would happily return. From the moment I walked in to the time of my departure, the staff were friendly, and accommodating. I had coffee and the beet salad and both were exactly what I needed. The beet salad came with some sort of garlic spread that had a delicious creamy taste but I was told it didn't have milk or anything making it safe for the lactose intolerant. I would happily order the delicious salad again. The vibe was friendly, and had a family owned feel. I recommend giving them a try!

Yelp
I ordered the gyros at Opa Taverna with fries and was really pleased. They clearly know what they're doing when it comes to gyros and are super generous with the fries (i mean GENEROUS.) no skimping on portion sizes here. I'll definitely be going back (by that i mean door dashing but same thing lol)

Yelp
Given a much needed updated review just to remind everyone how awesome this place still is, the drinks are fantastic, the food here is DELICIOUS!! And all of the staff here are passionate about Opa and know the menu very well, plus our server was extremely kind. They were out of the chocolate mousse (my favorite dessert) and I was really craving something chocolate. That's the only dessert menu item they had with chocolate. He asked if I wanted some chocolate ice cream, but I said I'd just do the baklava cheesecake instead. The server then proceeded to bring out the baklava cheesecake along with two scoops of chocolate ice cream! It was very sweet of him to say the least. Plus it all tasted great! Opa Taverna may just be my favorite place in West Chester. I mean, it's honestly the perfect place to come for any occasion!

Safe B.

Yelp
Overall I think this place is a bit overpriced for a gyro-type platter that you can get from any street vendor. The restaurant has a nice environment and offers good outdoor seating, but is poorly lit on some areas inside, making it hard to see the food and your company. Service is spotty. We had a waitress that came by, then a different waiter to take our order and never came back. We had to chase him down for the bill, as he was preoccupied with the young ladies / customers. For the price you pay, the service should be better. You can easily do better in near by restaurants. If you're looking for good authentic Greek food, consider a family run restaurant somewhere else.

Yelp
Amazing food and amazing server. I got lunch while I was in town for business. Wanted to go back the next day for dinner!
google avatar

Katherine O.

Yelp
I will start with the ambiance of the restaurant. It is very nice. I think this is a great place for a date night or hanging out with friends. The food was amazing. Everything we had tasted so good! They have vegetarian options too. The service was really nice but very slow. And the place was not busy so that was surprising. It took a pretty lengthy time for us to get our food. At one point we ordered another beer and it took so long that we ended up cancelling it. Make sure you check the bill. It was an honest mistake and then fixed it as soon as we noticed but they forgot to take the beer we canceled off our bill and how we ended up being double charged for one of the appetizers we received. I would still recommend this place and will be coming back. Like I said before, the food was fantastic and even though the service was slow everyone was very friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
Food and drinks were amazing. Outdoor dining space was refreshing and did not feel cramped. The best part though? the servers were fine! it made the trek out to West Chester worth it.

Yelp
We ate outside (plenty of seating) at this restaurant tonight for a celebration. For the appetizer, we had excellent calamari- not rubbery at all, and great octopus with hummus. For the main course, we each ate our favorite item- lamb shank with potatoes. Our charming, smiling, and friendly server was Soto. What a combination- excellent service and great food. Tip your servers well, and encourage them to stick around at your favorite restaurants!

D K.

Yelp
Food is good. Service is meh. I hate sitting at the table with an empty drink glass. Worst was the flying insects in the restaurant. There are literally 20 fruit flies on our table, the wall, hovering around our drinks. Kinda gross. 18 now....managed to kill 2.
google avatar

Bill T.

Yelp
As a Greek I am always looking for great Greek food. This place was awesome!! The OPA chips are amazing!! I had the lamb shank and my son had the swordfish. So moist and delicious. Don't get me started on the potatoes! Stephanie was our server and he was fantastic! Highly recommend this place!!
google avatar

Yelp
Been coming to Opa since they first opened and didn't even have a liquor license. This last visit was the worst that I have ever experienced since coming here. Opa chips were salty to the point of being inedible. Cocktails (old fashions) we're overly sweet like they were trying to minimize the amount of bourbon they put in the glass. Gyro plate has been my go-to entree since I've been coming here. This time the gyro was absolutely tasteless. No sense of garlic, no sense of flavor. Over the years portion sizes have gotten progressively smaller but yet prices have increased creating a very little sense of value. Noise level was to the point where you could not even hear your partner's conversation, and you had to talk loud to be heard. Overall, a very very disappointing experience.

Yelp
I ordered a take-out lunch to surprise my daughter for her birthday. The food was good but not great - and it was very expensive. The costs for the tiny containers of side sauces/extras were ridiculous. I put a birthday candle into a half of a sliver of a sliver of cheesecake that cost somewhere around $10. I truly felt ripped off by this restaurant on this take-out order. If you're hungry for Greek food, it's probably a much better idea to eat in the restaurant. You might be treated better.

Martha B.

Yelp
Can I give them a million stars? My husband and I love Opa to start so the rest isn't surprising but it just shows how wonderful they are. The last few weeks we have been so busy, we have so many balls in the air and I have been exhausted. I said to my husband tonight "all I want tonight is delivery from Opa" at 645pm we ordered on Uber Eats. At 8:20pm the Uber Eats driver hands my husband a bag and he brought it inside as I was finishing putting our toddler to bed. We opened the bag and inside was a cheese burger, cold fries and a cheese steak from god knows where. I was literally in tears. I called the Uber eats driver and he hung up on me, I called Uber eats and they said someone would email me in 48 hours and would do nothing else. I called the restaurant and asked if it was still there and they said no but then put me on hold. Someone named George came on the line and said a new order would be ready as fast as they could make it. I was tire and hungry but this was the nicest thing anyone had done for me this week. My husband got in the car and drove the 25 minutes (each way) to get the food. At 10:15pm we sat on our deck and when I say their food made my entire week better I am not lying. I was tired, hungry and just done but one bite of the moussaka and my entire weekend was saved my husband's pastitsio was also so so good along with our other items. I can't thank them enough for just being amazing, we are customers for life!
google avatar

Sarah S.

Yelp
Holy wow, probably one of the best restaurants in West Chester. Everything we got here was so good and yummy. The drinks were wonderful and creative. We only tried a few appetizers but I would come back here to try the others. You cannot go wrong with anything you get here, it all tasted so great. I loved the indoor/outdoor concept of the restaurant. The inside was so pretty and clean and had the nice natural light from the outdoors before it got dark. Our waiter was kind and respectful and they refilled our waters very frequently which I had liked. 10/10 would come here again! Though, it is on the pricier side of things, so I would be mindful of that. We had not realized we would rack up the bill so fast. It's not absurd, it is reasonable pricing for the quality of food that you are eating.
google avatar

Rifkah S.

Yelp
Sat outside on busy Friday night of West Chester Christmas parade. Staff was exceedingly friendly and found us a great table by a heater and in good view of parade route. Food was good and drink selection excellent too. Enjoyed the branzino entree and octopus appetizer. Pork chop was also quite flavorful and very large. Decent local beer selection as well as cocktails and large selection of Greek wines.
google avatar

Stehen B.

Yelp
If you want a realistic Greek style meal with plenty of options for appetizers and entrees then you should be very happy eating at Opa. I loved the authenticity of their grilled octopus preparation and especially the kolokythokeftedes (zucchini fritters) which were absolutely amazing! I also had a few types of hummus, the Pikilia spreads and the lamb gyro. The waiter was extremely knowledgeable and helpful recommending menu items we should try. This place is a culinary slam dunk worthy of yelling "Kobe" as you ceremonially sign your tip on the check!
google avatar

Jeff S.

Yelp
Just perfect. Had the zucchini fritters- great Had the mousakka(sic)- the best I've ever eaten. Live 2 1/2 hours away. I'd come back
google avatar

Cassidy T.

Yelp
Food is fabulous and the staff always has great recommendations whether it's for the specials or for newcomers. This was our second time here and we all thoroughly enjoyed our food and had a great time. First time we were here it was busy and LOUD, so be prepped for that if you're in on a busy night. This time we came on an off night and everything was super chill and we were able to converse easily. Regardless, Opa is a great stop in West Chester.
google avatar

Greg C.

Yelp
I do not live in the West Chester area, but I would never pass up the opportunity for a real Greek restaurant! Simple, but attractive tables and decor. Great service. Excellent food. I had the moussaka which is prepared in a casserole. A large portion and quite delicious. Highly recommended.
google avatar

Lilly B.

Yelp
I was hesitant to go to OPA Tavern due to the other reviews on yelp. I have no idea what any of the negative reviews were about because I had an incredible meal and great service. It's a pretty big place located on the corner with outdoor and indoor seating. They have an awesome happy hour that goes from 4 to 6. The cocktail menu was extensive! The cocktails were quick to come out and were made with such fresh ingredients! They were so enjoyable and beautiful. I decided to get a bunch of appetizers and really try this place out! The calamari was lightly fried and every piece was delicious and crunchy. The red sauce that it was served with was the perfect pairing. The opa chips were awesome! I've never had anything like them. They were made with zucchini and eggplant and were served with the best tzatziki sauce that I've ever had! The shrimp were large and wonderfully seasoned! The Mediterranean flatbread was packed with feta, tomato, olives, and artichokes! Everything about this place was enjoyable! The service, the decor, the ambience, the cocktails, and the food! I can't wait to go back!

Patrick F.

Yelp
Awesome fresh food expertly prepared. Artistically plated. Nice ambience. Highly recommend!
google avatar

L N.

Yelp
This place was great- nice outdoor seating with excellent service. Food was good with ok pricing. The hummus was homemade with delicious pita- plain flavor however. Can't go wrong with the gyro and had the custard filled dessert. Nice dinner on a warm spring day!

Yelp
So I have been frequenting the E Gay Street restaurant corridor for a few years now, and it dawned on me, that Opa Taverna is my favorite. You have to be in the mood for Greek food, but if you are, it is quite consistently good. The menu has a nice variety of options without being overwhelming, and includes the very good expected salads and gyros, but also with more elevated and niche items as well. The halloumi appetizer is delightful, served warm with beautifully ripe tomatoes. The Shrimp Saganyaki is also a nice, flavorful choice. I usually choose lighter items, and so I enjoy the Greek salad and the beet salad. But, when I'm in the mood, the gyro platter hits all the right notes-fries included! I also like the vibe there. The service is always attentive, and even on busy days the food comes out promptly, and the whole enterprise seems to run efficiently and cheerfully. During the summer they have outdoor seating, and on weekends when Gay Street becomes pedestrian only they have ample outdoor tables, many shaded from the sun. Perhaps it's the cuisine, but the outdoor dining experience just seems to work very well at Opa. Enjoyable.

Yelp
5 stars for food, 3 stars for service. We were sat immediately inside for our reservation, but waited 20 mins to be greeted by a server. The table in front of me was acknowledged within 5 mins and their drink order was taken. I nicely went to the host stand to request we be taken care of. They looked at me like I had two heads. Eventually our server came over and he was very nice. Everything from this point on was a positive experience. Water glasses were never low and food came out timely. The pikilia spread was incredible. Each dip was fluffy and flavorful. I particularly loved the spicy feta. Highly recommend this as an app. For dinner, I ordered the mousaka. It was the best I have ever had. The flavors were so deep and the bechamel was creamy. 10/10. My girlfriend ordered the branzino and I just wanted to note that every single bite had a large bone. That was the only issue had with the food.
google avatar

Morgan F.

Yelp
I have had several excellent experiences here! The service is always on point. The cocktail list is SO GOOD and unique which you might not expect. I hate to admit that my favorite food is the fries (just because they are the best I've ever had, ever) but I also recommend the gyros, spinach and artichoke dip is SO good, opa chips are great
google avatar

Carmen T.

Yelp
Been here many times. Authentic. Friendly. Great service and amazing food. Need I say More??
google avatar

Yelp
My family celebrated at OPA following a courthouse wedding. They were wonderful and accommodating. Part of the party came early while we took photos, which was no problem. They gave us all a round of celebratory passionfruit drinks when we came! It was so thoughtful. We got loads of appetizers, including the cheese, spanakopita, octopus, and calamari. The calamari and octopus were especially exceptional and very fresh. The waiter helped us through all our bad Greek pronunciations of the foods with kindness. The decor is gorgeous with an open concept. I absolutely recommend coming for a casual or special time.

Yelp
Loved this place. When a place surprises you with exactly what a great experience should be: friendly quick service, ample menu variety, flavorful plates, great ambiance and perfect portions! Plenty street parking a couple of parking garages within a short walk. This is the perfect place for Greek food and it just became one of my favorites. Seems they have amazing cocktails as well, but I haven't tried them. Seems they do French fry chips, the best I've ever had! And that hummus was perfect! I will come back to try many of their entrées. Kudos!

Alicia M.

Yelp
Was our go to restaurant. Ordered through door dash tonight and ordered our usual with the sides we always order. Was notified about an up charge that I was never charged before with the same prior order. Called and spoke with George the manager who was standoffish and rude. Basically told me they pay for the items so I need to as well. I asked why I wasn't called about this and he said "well I wasn't notified to call". I then explained that's not acceptable and I was upset. He then hung up on me. There are far too many restaurants in West Chester to be treated disrespectfully. Inexcusable Opa! Lost a good customer. Do better!
google avatar

Stephanie D.

Yelp
Had the side order of the lamb gyro and the Greek salad for lunch here. Both were amazing! Big portions, enough for two meals. The Tzatziki sauce is also really good here, everything is super fresh and authentic.

Nancy F.

Yelp
Fabulous authentic Greek dishes & reasonable prices! One of our new favorite restaurants in West Chester! We will definitely be coming back again to Opa!
