The 12 Best Hotels in Key West

"Steps from Mallory Square, a block from Duval Street, and fronting the cruise ship pier, Opal Key calls to those looking for the thick of Key West’s touristy action (with water views to boot). Prior to its incorporation into the growing Opal Collection in 2021, the property flew under various brand flags through decades past, including Hilton, Westin, and then Margaritaville. Across two buildings, there are a total of 178 rooms and suites dressed in coastal motifs with soft colors and wood furnishings. Overall, the interiors could use some zhuzhing, but the location is tops for Key West’s party vibe and the amenities are well done (These include a highly social pool scene, a state-of-the-art gym, and a Sunset Deck with views of the nightly sunset celebration on the pier.)" - Paul Rubio, Nancy DePalma

Opal Key Resort & Marina

"Why book? Steps from Mallory Square and a block from Duval Street…what else do you need when in Key West? Set the scene: Feeling festive? Opal Key feels like the headquarters of happiness, with water views to boot. The rooms The rooms and suites epitomize coastal elegance with soft colors, patterned carpets, and chic furnishings, but it’s the fun you’ll have outside the room that you’ll remember. Food and drink There is all-day dining and a poolside spot, but the place to be is at the Sunset Deck with views of the nightly sunset celebration on the pier. For families The party vibe makes this a better spot for adults. Anything left to mention? Cruise ships do pull up to the marina here, but they’re gone by 5 p.m." - Nancy DePalma

Very happy with our stay. Tanisha and the other staff went above and beyond to elevate a special occasion. We were very impressed. Room with a great view and also very clean. Convenient and central location enough so the vehicle we brought did not move for the 3 days we were here. Thank you Tanisha and staff!

We had a wonderful stay at Opal Key Resort! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel truly welcome. The level of customer service was outstanding — everyone we encountered was friendly, professional, and always willing to go the extra mile. What really stood out was their attention to detail. Whether it was assisting with our luggage, offering helpful local tips, or just checking in to make sure everything was perfect — the team made sure every part of our stay was smooth and enjoyable. If you're looking for a place with great service, a warm atmosphere, and a staff that genuinely cares, Opal Keys is it. Highly recommend!

We had such a wonderful experience at this hotel! From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We arrived several hours before check-in, and instead of having us wait around, they made every effort to ensure we were comfortable while our room was being prepared, which we truly appreciated after a long trip. The hotel’s waterfront location was absolutely fantastic. It’s close to everything, making it easy to explore the area without a car, and the views were stunning…especially the amazing sunsets. Our room was spotless and thoughtfully prepared, with everything we needed to feel right at home. From cozy slippers and robes to all the little details that made our stay comfortable, it was clear that a lot of care went into making guests feel pampered. As an added bonus, our stay coincided with the grand opening of their brand-new restaurant, Lolita’s Coastal Cocina. The atmosphere was vibrant and inviting, and the food was fantastic. It was the perfect way to kick off our trip. Overall, the hospitality, attention to detail, and genuine kindness of the staff made our stay memorable. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a warm and seamless experience!

From the moment we arrived, the service at this hotel was truly above and beyond. The front desk team, especially Bridget and Ivan, were incredibly welcoming — so friendly, helpful, and genuinely kind. They made check-in smooth and made us feel right at home. A special shoutout to Dudley, who helped us with our bags — he was so sweet, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. It’s rare to feel this taken care of when traveling. Huge thanks to the whole team for making our stay so comfortable and memorable!

A Perfect Slice of Paradise – Opal Key Resort & Spa, Key West Our recent stay at the Opal Key Resort & Spa in Key West was nothing short of outstanding. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth, professionalism, and genuine hospitality that set the tone for an unforgettable vacation. The location is unbeatable — right on the water with stunning views, easy access to Duval Street, and all the charm of Old Town Key West within walking distance. But what truly made our stay exceptional was the incredible staff who went above and beyond at every turn. A special thank you to Falon, the manager, whose leadership is clearly reflected in the seamless operation and positive energy of the entire team. Trexie and Bridget were always a pleasure — friendly, helpful, and ready with great recommendations and smiles. Max and Tucker were fantastic as well, offering excellent service and always checking in to ensure we had everything we needed. And Kimberly was a true gem — kind, attentive, and an absolute delight to interact with during our stay. The resort itself is immaculate, beautifully maintained, and full of thoughtful touches — from the comfortable, well-appointed rooms to the peaceful pool area and waterfront views. Whether we were lounging by the water, exploring the island, or simply enjoying a quiet moment on the balcony, everything felt relaxed and luxurious. We left feeling refreshed, cared for, and already planning our return. I can’t recommend Opal Key Resort & Spa highly enough — if you’re heading to Key West, this is the place to stay. Five stars all around! Thanks again!

We were greeted by Kimberly at the front desk and was wonderful she treated us very well and gave us an overview of the hotel as well as the city being our first time there. We left to check out other hotels but came back just because we loved how Kimberly treated us as well as the hotel. Very relaxing hotel with very good small details other hotels don’t have. We loved the hotel and would recommend staying there.

Our stay at The Opal Key Resort was fantastic! The location was ideal and central to everything we wanted to do while in town. The pool was relaxing, and the drinks at the pool bar were delicious. Our room was very clean, and we loved the views from our corner room! It was a bit surprising to find the view blocked by a cruise ship the first morning, but it was clear most of the time we were there. Great stay, and we will be back!

Google
The service at Opal Key is outstanding. Our room was clean and spacious. Pool area very nice with plenty of chairs and umbrellas. Staff super helpful and friendly. Complimentary breakfast was more than enough to fill you up. We also ate dinner at the restaurant under the tent, and the food and service were both excellent. Although we did experience construction noise, it was not particularly annoying. Can't wait to come back once it's finished!

Yelp
09/19/-9/22/24 We stayed at the beautiful and fantastic waterfront Opal Key Resort for 4 days. It is located in the heart of Key West close to shopping, restaurants & bars and Duval Street. It is within walking distance to all the fun stuff in Key West. We have been going on day trips to Key West for a few years but this is my first vacation stay there. I loved it in great part because of Opal Key and their fabulous staff members! We were treated like VIPs. We received texts from them asking what they could do to make this an unforgettable stay before we even left Miami! When we arrived, the Manager checked us in and gave us a great room with a view of the pool and the Atlantic Ocean and sunsets. We were thrilled! A great experience thruout the 4 days. Our room was very nice with 2 very comfortable Queen beds, a tiled and beautiful bathroom, privacy, and plenty of room to move around in. Everything was clean and perfect. Our balcony view of the pool, palm trees and golden sunsets was unforgettable. The pool was temperature perfect with friendly guests to chat with. At night it was lit up and you could have the pool pretty much to yourself. The grounds were immaculate. Self parking was $30 per day and valet parking was $45. Their restaurant was being remodeled. They had a large tent up with lots of food available. We had breakfast there. There was no room service. Down at their marina, you can board the boat that takes you to the very popluar Latitudes restaurant. We would definitely return when we visit Key West again! Highly recommend this beautiful place.

Yelp
We only had drinks at the bar... this resort has a nice restaurant area on the dock where you can enjoy the sunset, and their prices seemed normal. We ordered a drink to take a break from the noise and crowds on the other docks, this is a much more relaxed area of the marina, and so we sat at the bar. The Sri la were generously served and the bartender was quick and busy. We chit chatted amongst ourselves and left when our drinks were done because unfortunately the bar does not face the ocean- so we left to continue our meanderings about downtown. If you are looking for a stopover a bit removed from the maddening crowd: this is the place! Enjoy.

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful hotel close to Mallory Square. You get the best sunsets right from your room. 2 blocks away from Duval Street. Very centrically located.

Yelp
Top notch resort in a beautiful city. Management and Team members attentiveness and customer service blew us away! The resort grounds and amenities are spectacular, rooms are comfortable and nice, and the location is superb.

Yelp
Mildew Madness and Construction Chaos My stay at Opal Key Resort & Marina was an absolute nightmare. The hallways and rooms reeked of mildew, making it difficult to breathe. The smell was so overpowering that it ruined the entire experience. To add insult to injury, the hotel was undergoing renovations, which resulted in the water view being partially blocked and noise from construction. The onsite restaurant was closed making dining inconvenient. The rooms themselves were in dire need of an update. The decor was outdated, the furniture was worn, although the overall cleanliness was good. The only redeeming experience was the staff. They were friendly, helpful, and hospitable. I would strongly advise anyone considering this hotel to reconsider. The combination of the mildew smell, construction noise, and outdated rooms made for a truly unpleasant stay.

Yelp
Great place to have a couple drinks and watch the sunset. The place starts to fill up about an hour before sunset. So get here earlier if you want a good seat. The sunsets in KW are second to none. The bar staff is always friendly and attentive. Expect to pay the typical Kw prices for drinks. It's a great place and every time I am here, I make sure to stop by and have a drink.
google avatar

Hannah A.

Yelp
Awesome spot for a drink and appetizer during the sunset at Mallory square! Not really overpriced versus the rest of the island, and you get a really great view without feeling crowded. They were even able to accommodate a seafood allergy in the group by making a chicken quesadilla (not on the menu).

Yelp
Need an ATM, if the rental office is open you can use their ATM, don't expect anyone to even say hello to you. The gift shops of the Opal Key are also equally as friendly. There are so many lovely resorts in Key West not sure I would stay here.

Yelp
This would have been the perfect hotel in Key West, if it weren't for the bugs in the room. There is definitely a bug problem here. Before we unpacked in room 356, I removed the sheets and mattress covers and checked the mattresses. I found some black "things" as well as some light yellow kernel-like exoskeletal and light yellow crumb-like things. I showed the front desk the black "things" and they said there was only 1 other room available and offered to move us. (My husband threw out the light yellow things.) I later researched and found that the light yellow kernel-like exoskeletal are most likely bedbug exoskeletal when they molt and the crumbs could be eggs or larvae but we didn't know this when we saw it or when we spoke to the front desk. We moved to the new room and again i checked the mattresses. Again, there are black "things" on the mattresses (mostly likely dead beetles) but at least there weren't any signs of bedbugs (no light yellow exoskeletal or crumbs). We saw several live tiny sugar ants on the bench in the room and a couple of them crawling on the night table. We decided to tolerate these since there were no other rooms available and there weren't any signs of bedbugs. We could tolerate ants and beetles but not bedbugs! It was 11PM and no other rooms available in the hotel (per front desk). Other than the bugs, the hotel is great in every other way. The location is perfect- right next to Mallory square and close enough to walk to Duval St yet far away enough from the loudness there. There is complimentary fresh squeezed orange juice and starbucks coffee daily in the lobby. There is also a small fridge stocked with bottled water and orange/lemon flavored pellegrino drinks. There is complimentary sunscreen in the pool area. The staff is friendly and approachable. Just be sure to check the mattresses and keep your food sealed up.

Yelp
The local was great as far as walking distance to Duval and Mallory square. We paid $600 a night for the ocean view. However, it was blocked on both days by huge cruise ships. The hotel itself was dated and musty smelling, but the bottled water daily was nice. The pool was comfortable, but the loungers were at the end of their life - if you could find one. I wouldn't stay here again unless the rooms were less, or would definitely not pay extra for a ocean view aka vomit stains down the side of a cruise ship.
google avatar

Stephanie S.

Yelp
I am shocked to see such low stars on this place. The location alone makes it 5 stars! The rooms were nice and spacious and we had a little patio that overlooked the pool and you could see the ocean (except when a cruise ship is in port). The hotel is well kept and staff were friendly. Overnight parking in the attached parking garage was $30 and allowed in/out.

Yelp
I'm here with a Family of 8 & I must say Angelika Wiburn has been phenomenal for the past few days!!! She's very fun to speak with & also accommodating. Go see her when you get here, she's by the elevators. She'll help you have a great time scheduling for things to do
google avatar

Melissa R.

Yelp
When you book a room showing a photo of a kitchenette and there's none in sight. Super pricey for what we are getting, customer service non existent didn't offer to help my situation. I just don't know why you would advertise with a photo of a kitchen and I get none in the room, just don't show that photo or get me a room that has one.
google avatar

J K.

Yelp
Unlike their place in Key largo this place was super nice. Great customer service and super clean. Walking distance to anything worth seeing and then good restaurant on site. I will say and should have taken a photos of the toilet door was rigged so it left a 5" gap. So nothing could kill a mood more than washing your face and catching a glimpse of your wife on the toilet. Cruise ship pulls in every morning and can be a bit loud if their chains are clanking around but we didn't really hear it. The 30$ parking each days was a but of a rip off and parking is a decent walk from your room. They let the public park in there as well as employees so next thing you know you are carting all of your stuff down 4 flights of stairs(didn't see an elevator). So leave your luggage at the front, park and come back.

Yelp
Perfect location!!! Pet friendly!! I loved the fact that the rooms had vinyl flooring. I'm someone that hates hotels with carpet. The only downside was the pool size. Pretty small for a big resort.

Dave H.

Yelp
Had an amazing time in Key West, including a magnificent view from our room at Opal Key. Staff went above and beyond. Can't wait to come back, and will definitely choose Opal Key again. Thanks for the memories.

Yelp
We are staying here now. The location is great. The rooms are ok. To my knowledge there's only one pool and while I do not mind kids (I have a young daughter) the pool can get packed with kids splashing nonstop and throwing balls and rafts. It's a small pool considering it's the only one. I got hit several times with something (by accident of course). It just would be nice to have a guarded pool where things could be nice for everyone. They certainly deserve to have fun in the pool, but so do I. It's a great spot for shopping and watching the sunset. Cruise ships have been docked each morning which is cool to see. It's my friend's birthday. You evidently get a free tour on your birthday. The concierge had a booking company on speaker phone and a not so kind comment was made about not making a reservation happen for a "free birthday tour". Which was nasty and unnecessary. So I won't pay them for any tours. Don't offer something you don't want to see through. The room is okay. Clean. The shower doesn't have much pressure. But the tv channels are good and again, it's clean so that matters most. Beds are firm and comfortable to me.

Yelp
We were staying at Key West and wanted to stay at the Westin. When I googled, this hotel came up so I thought they were affiliated. The Manager said they haven't been under Westin since the 70's. I immediately book with the rate of over $500 and didn't realize there were so many bad reviews. It was too late to cancel so I was not expecting much with this stay. They have an AI concierge of some sort texting you days before you stay, so that was a nice touch. I asked for the cleanest room possible (again, based off reviews). When we arrived, the hotel Staff were friendly but not spectacular. They were okay. The room was very nice, very clean, and definitely met my standards. The towels, linens and pillows were very luxurious and comfortable. Probably one of the most comfortable stay I've had in a while. The shower head was great and loved the water pressure. The room looked and felt very clean. Definitely worth the $500 a night we got it for. You can't beat the location. It's in the middle of the busy spots in Key West. Loved watching the massive cruise ships that would dock by the pier- these cruise ships were larger than the hotel itself. It rained the night we stayed, but the Hotel staff was gracious enough to lend us an umbrella so we can stay dry on our stroll. Truly amazing place to stay.

Yelp
The check in was great, a gentleman hooked us us with an upgrade because it is my birthday celebration trip. Then not much great happened after that! There's a ton of ants in our kitchen, so nothing is safe. Not like we're even on level 1 Then this morning for instance, I came for breakfast, solo and it took 45 minutes to get my order drink, after waiting 23 to get something ordered Over priced for the feast and not thrilled with money spent

Francis P.

Yelp
All aspects of our stay were fantastic beginning with a very friendly, quick and efficient check-in and then an exceptionally spacious room with many unanticipated luxury amenities. The staff, without exception, were helpful and a special shout-out to the housekeepers who did a great job. The location is perfect to be in the midst of Malloy Square, the entertainment along Duval Street and the various sightseeing venues and watering holes. Everything was an easy walk.
google avatar

Dottie D.

Yelp
We very much enjoyed our stay. Our room was very clean with an excellent view of the gulf and the Marina. Room service, pool side service and the on-site restaurant offered excellent service and yummy food. The pool courtyard is adorable. All of the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful.

Jenna H.

Yelp
So far, not impressed with their service, Maria, the concierge it's not helpful at all and sent me to the gift shop to figure out what I needed. Not what I would expect from a resort that is affiliated with the Edgewater Beach hotel in Naples.
google avatar

Chuck M.

Yelp
On the positive side this resort is conveniently located to see the sunset every evening and a short walk away from the night life in Key West. Our experience with the front desk staff when initially checking in was also a good experience. The resort pool and hot tub were nice and relaxing, and delivered a great experience for my family the days we visited it. On the more critical side we felt this resort was overpriced because we had several below-par service experiences when considering how much we were spending for a big ticket and exotic vacation. The only bad meal we had during our week in Key West was the restaurant in this resort. We ate at local restaurants outside of this resort every other meal and always had great meals. Our room also had tiny little bugs crawling around the kitchen counter and kitchen sink area, so we had to be diligent about where we kept food and this was a little gross. A cruise ship often ported right next to this resort, which blocked the view of the ocean most every evening. We absolutely loved the vibe in Key West though and plan to return, but we will probably shop around for a different place to stay next time.

catherine c.

Yelp
This place looks good on the outside, but it needs to be completely refurbished. Not to mention that they have cockroaches. We had two in our room. The place needs to be repainted, carpets were stained and dirty. Bathrooms need to be painted and upgraded. I do not recommend this place.....other than the view is was terrible. And that's if you pay extra for the water front view.

Yelp
I had my wedding here this past weekend and there were good things and there were some bad things. The location is amazing and all the rooms our party had were also amazing. This is the best location to get both the views of the sunset/ ocean as well as have all the fun of duval walking distance. The cleaning staff was amazing. The front office staff was infact not so amazing, it seemed they could careless about the fact it was my wife and I's wedding weekend and we decided to bring over 50 people to stay with us at their hotel to spend money at on top of the 35k we spent on their venue!! The only staff member who really understands how hospitality works and how to treat someone on their wedding weekend was KENNETH MILLER, this guys was the absolute best the opal had! From check in to check out to helping me order my wife flowers before the wedding he was willing to help! I again want to emphasize that Kenneth Miller deserves what ever promotion he seeks and the opal should have him train other managers on how to treat high value guest (every guest should be high value)!!!!! Kenneth thank you from my whole family!

Kathleen-Scott D.

Yelp
We arrived at the Opal Key Resort after having a bad experience and an early checkout at another high-end hotel on Key West. But this was a totally different experience, from the greeting we got from the valet and welcoming smiles at the front desk these guys were Great. We had never been to Key West or visited an Opal property. We told them of our difficulties that day with one of their competitors and they immediately offered us complimentary water , coffee and other treats. When they saw we had relaxed they then told us of their property and all the benefits of a stay with them. Then when booking the room cold at the desk we were expecting the basic undiscounted high rate, We had our guard up , BUT NO!! , they went through all of their discount packages and found the perfect one for us, the Florida resident package. Free parking, $25 per Day resort credit, a Discounted Room Charge and a room upgrade , all at almost 1/2 the price of the place we just left. The rooms were clean , pool was welcoming, cocktails from the bars were cold and tasty, the food we ate was good, we booked several touristy things from the concierge, the location is super close to all of what Key West has to offer, AND the staff was AWESOME ! We were happy, the other guests were happy, the staff was happy, WE WERE HAPPY! and it showed everyone was having a GREAT TIME. It was so good we stayed an extra night. Thank You OPAL KEY ! We will be back !

Yelp
**THIS IS FOR THE RESTAURANT** I could start my review with food, but let's be real - you don't choose a restaurant like this for the food but for the viewssss. This is a FANTASTIC place to get a view of the sunset in a private-ish area separate from the crowds. The prices are hiked up a bit, but it's understandable given the ocean-side location and the fresh ingredients they use to prepare their meals. I shared a lobster/shrimp pasta and thought it was good. The chunks of lobster and shrimp were decently large and fresh. Also thankful for the waiters that accommodated our large party!
google avatar

Sarah W.

Yelp
Highly recommend the sunset celebration dinner! Perfect location by the water with live music and delicious food
google avatar

Yelp
Hotel Hell! My husband booked this place based on Google reviews. They must have paid for those reviews or they merged them feom other chains. Thos place is filthy, nasty and just plain gross. They don't clean anything. This is just a few pics just walking to our room. I am out of here in the morning! Stay away!!!

Candice L.

Yelp
The food was good. The service was not. The waitress Shamara was not friendly at all. We weren't asked how our appetizer was. Didn't ask hoe our meal was. Didn't refill our drinks. We had to ask the busser to refill our water. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. We will not be back.
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome place! Fantastic pasta, great service! Right in front of the ocean, phenomenal view. Prices are worth it. The pasta is exquisite, a must try. Totally recommend this place. We Hungry Approved!

Yelp
The staff was friendly and informative. Great spot to watch the sunset. Pina colada was delish!! We didn't have food but plates around us looked great.

Carla Y.

Yelp
Fantastic sunset view. Great NY Strip, garlic mashed potatoes, & asparagus. Do not recommend the crab cake though. I have had 2 others at the Front Porch & Bagatelle, and both were much better. Both were pan fried with a crust. This one appeared to be frozen & deep fried.

Alison K.

Yelp
We enjoyed our stay at Opal Key. It's in a great location for walking around and seeing a sunset every night. The room was very clean (although could use a little updating such as the bathtub looking quite worn) and the bed was comfortable. Every room has a small balcony and sliding door, mini fridge, and Nespresso machine. Front desk check in was seamless and our room was ready hours early which was great because we arrived around noon. I attended a work conference here during my stay and they did a wonderful job with food and drinks for that. We ate lunch at bistro 245 and out by the pool and were always happy with the food and service. We spent a lot of time at the pool and the pool bar. The service was excellent! Drinks are a bit pricey for sure and my only suggestion would be to have a a short happy hour with drink deals.
google avatar

Kala N.

Yelp
We decided to eat outside to watch the sunset. It was beautiful only thing it got cold and very windy. You have to watch out for the birds. Now I will say &21.00 for the flatbread was a little much considering it was like a small pizza and only 4 slices. My husband and I thought we could share it but we did not realize it was so small. The staff was very friendly and answered any questions we had when we first ordered. I would definitely come back here again but make sure I have more money to spend.
google avatar

Tini B.

Yelp
Definitely not a 5-star resort, but not bad. Let me be clear that the staff was very friendly. However, there was no security was on site what so ever when I really needed it; and they could have done a better job with valet parking.
google avatar

Tiffany M.

Yelp
This review is strictly for the sunset key part of this place. Outstanding, immaculate grounds, friendly attentive staff and can't beat the location on an island across from key west. Will be back specifically for the sunset key cottages.

Yelp
Great location. Used to be perfect when it was margaritaville. Staff needs trained. Managers have bad attitudes. Rooms need updated. You pay for "oceanfront" and then get "Marina" view and the manager argues with you about it. It's literally the same 100 yards of water. Just don't charge for it.

Yelp
Musty issue got sick from staying there had air purifiers in hallway. I guess where the rooms were shut up . Sleep 2 nights on balcony management not willing to do much. Would not recommend it There must have been mold in room it was so strong and that the second room they took us to. Both rooms were extremely musty and we left balcony door opened all the time.

Yelp
Absolutely loved this location! While there are no cruise ships thhe views of the ocean are excellent a d there aren't as many tourists wandering around in this hotels area. The Opal sits on the end of the island next to Mallory Square. It's close enough to Duval Street yet in a little nicer area of shops. We found the employees to be super helpful and friendly! We even met the manager, Lauren who was fabulous. Our server Mike at Bistro 245 was super funny. We loved the pool bartender, Yara. He makes great drinks. Keith is housekeeping is super friendly and professional. The is such a great location. We've been to KW before but will now only stay at the Opal. Worth the price. Thank you Opal staff!

Yelp
Great hotel! In the middle of everything. We watched the sunset from our balcony. It was lovely. Nat Geo won't be paying for my photos but I can say I have seen the sunset in the Keys. Too many people down at the harbor during COVID. The room was within walking distance of everything. The staff was so nice and every staff we walked past made friendly statements (GM, hope you had a good stay, etc). Everything was clean. Kind of pricey but you pay for what you get, to be in the hub of the Keys.

Yelp
So far we checked into this hotel and we have driven 220 miles. We are still waiting for our suite. It is now 4:20. The hotel lobby is shabby with filthy carpets. We would leave and get another hotel but it is way to late! Very unhappy!

Yelp
Beware of unethical cancellation policies. We travel frequently, and certainly understand and expect reasonable cancellation and change policies for hotels. The policies for Opal Key Resort are not only unreasonable, but unethical and an affront to industry standards. I would not recommend making any advance bookings with this property. Opal Key Resort charges the full amount of your stay as a 'deposit' 7 days before arrival, and no cancellations or modifications to number of days are permitted for any reason after that time. If you must cancel, you do not lose just the first night as is industry standard, but rather the entire amount of the stay. For a property that is routinely fully booked during peak season, this is a very profitable policy allowing them to re-book a room and still get paid in full for the cancellation. We had booked a weekend stay 8 days out, so the entire amount was charged the following day. Unfortunately, just after the charge was taken I tested positive for Covid-19. I contacted the hotel immediately and was told a cancellation would not be permitted regardless of the reason, but they would allow a one-time change of dates because it was Covid-19 related. However, the new dates had to be selected immediately. There were no dates offered that were comparable to the price I had originally booked the room at, so my only option would be to change to a significantly more expensive date. Instead I opted to cancel and incur the loss.

Yelp
Second time being down in Key West and stayed here and was delighted. This place is in the perfect proximity to all the sights and the action, steps away from the pier/water and Duval street, this resort is gigantic and covers about 3 square blocks of waterfront. The rooms here are very large and spacious, nice bathrooms and a nice pool area and restaurant. I was a little surprised at how dated and sort of run down parts of this resort were though. Outside looks ok, but when you get up close, it looks a battered and in need of a make over. Same with hallways and the very small lobby in the front. The pool are is okay but mostly in the shade and the bar is in the back, not feasible for easy access. There are wait staff here which is nice by the pool. The best part about this place, is the view of the waterfront and the block away from the bars and restaurants which is always nice and being walking distance is great. Bring your wallet however, this place nightly is one of the most expensive in Key West.

Yelp
The Opal in Key West is the place to be! If you haven't stayed in Key West or you are a regular, you have to stay here at the Opal!!! We are beyond happy with our stay!! We definitely will be back! The location is prime for sure! The room service staff was so nice and great with cleaning they went above and beyond! Dwight at the front desk is amazing! I can't say that enough because it's so true. If you need anything day or night he always goes above and beyond for you! I constantly pestered him morning, noon, or night and he was always so nice to us! Dwight is an asset to your company. Eric at the pool was so helpful and kind, he couldn't do enough for you!!! He is a great person! Carlos and Michaela at the pool bar were absolutely great! They couldn't do more for you!! I saved the best for last.... YARA aka Bob ( LOL) is the best bartender in Key West and Tom Pain the food and Beverage Manager should seriously be promoted effective immediately with Dwight!!!
