Google
Lovely restaurant in Midland I found while traveling for work. It was a short walk from the hotel I was staying in one block over. I loved the decor and colors of the place. Service was fantastic, as was the food. My steak was cooked so perfectly. Will definitely be back!

Google
Such a lovely place with amazing food! Everything was fresh and delicious, and the staff was so friendly. Highly recommend!”

Nobu, that's me

Google
Surpassed all of my expectations!!!! ONE THING FIRST- I could eat their wedge salad every day. Best I’ve ever had. Great food. We took a large group and had like everything on the menu. Everyone said it was incredible! This is a top five west Texas restaurant!!! Steaks and Tuna.. OH MY

Google
Very nice place to go for a special occasion or if your company is picking up the tab. The atmosphere was great and we had the upstairs area pretty much to ourselves. Brussel sprouts were awesome and had sweet flavor to them that was very unique. The chicken plate with the sundried tomato sauce was the table favorite. Salads had an excellent dressing pairing to the pickled okra. The steaks were pretty terrible so I would avoid them. Medium rare steak looked close to being charcoal. Lol. The Lobster tail was overcooked and kinda sickly looking.

Google
Made a reservation online, got seated right away. Ordered pork belly for an appetizer and chicken fried steak for entree. Was absolutely delicious and flavorful. My husband ordered the prime rib, which was cooked perfectly and tender. Will for sure go back! Waitress was polite and gave very good service.

Google
First time trying this place...FINALLY! Well worth it on my first visit. I sat bar top and Gina made THE BEST COCKTAILS I've had in Midland thus far. I tried the Curious Bird, a Moscow Mule, Raspberry Mojito, and the Jack Rabbit Slims. Gina, the bar tender, on this gorgeous Tuesday, made them SPOT ON! When my chicken fried steak showed up...well, it was too delicious LOOKING to stop for the pic. And the looks weren't lying. Best Chicken Fry in West Texas....HANDS DOWN! Also had the Seared Tuna and O...M...G... that was fire! Definitely upscale. I was informed of a downstairs in the same building so you can choose if there is no private event going on. Enjoy this great place on any night of the week except Sundays.

So AGAIN take my advice with a grain of salt. This place was just too fancy lol. The food was too extravagant. Like they were doing too much. Had the salmon and that in itself was wonderful but the sides was absolutely horrible. The pork was okay but paired with apple butter made it soo much better. The experience as a whole was good.

Google
We went to the Duckhorn wine tasting tonight (3/6/25). Wine was ok, food was adequate. BUT for $186 pp the servers served wine in used glasses. If you’re drinking a white wine bring a clean glass for the red. If you’re drinking a cab bring a clean glass for the Merlot. The food was mediocre, but the serving of the wines was incompetent. You DO NOT pour a glass of wine into a dirty glass. Not impressed and will not attend another.

Yelp
First time eating here and was delicious! I had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. Flavor was good and the mashed potatoes were creamy. For appetizers we had the pimento cheese with table crackers! Great choice with a pinch of spicy kick. Atmosphere has a tint 1960's with antique pictures gives it a slight "back in time feeling". The price is somewhat high, but given the food, taste, and top notch service, it is well worth the money. Oh don't forget to order a bowl of cheesy macaroni with your meal. You won't reget it! Diffently coming back.

Yelp
The best restaurant in Midland. I have dined there several times when I'm in town - it's the most civilized, sophisticated place in the city. I feel seen. Wine list has actually been thoughtfully curated, food is on a level that is par with many top cities and it feels like a diamond in the rough. They GET it there!

Devin D.

Yelp
What time does this place close, 9pm or 9:30? If it says open until 9:30, you should be able to order food until 9:30, right? There have been several times I've been turned away from ordering food. I'm so confused.

Yelp
Food and service were incredible!!! We went during the Christmas season and were fortunate enough to try a few of their specialty drinks! I had the Clause Cooler and it was delicious!! Very refreshing! Our group also tried several appetizers and they did not disappoint!! The Brussels sprouts were to die for! I had the chicken fried steak and it was perfection!! The atmosphere was super cute as well! Li ed the bar down stair! Very swanky!!

Yelp
Opals is the most consistent restaurant in Midland, always great. Service is way better in Opals than in the basement. Food is spot on! Restaurant ambience is great. It can be a great place for business meal or a date

Yelp
My experience was not horrible, however, so many little things continue to annoy me that it built up to an unpleasant experience. First, there is no parking. The location is downtown and I had to walk to blocks to get to the restaurant. Second, the staff was very confused. They were unable to provide me with the food I actually ordered and had to be reminded to bring some of the items our table had requested. Third, the salad was just terrible overdressed and limp lettuce. The steak was amazing (I had the fillet), the whipped potatoes with no flavor we're not very exciting. I did not bother staying for the dessert I had ordered, but several people stated that the carrot cake was dry, and the cheesecake was only average. If the bill had not been so high for this food I might've considered three stars, but this is definitely not the dining experience I would expect for this price point.

Yelp
Solid 5 stars! The strawberry sour cocktail and crispy Brussels is Bom. They nailed it. This is my second visit and will come back for more. Chicken fried steak is tasty. Seafood pasta is good. TX fish is great and nicely grilled Coffee rub pork chop is tender, great service and atmosphere. To me, it's worth the price we pay for.
google avatar

Kyle D.

Yelp
Worth a visit if you happen to find yourself hankering for a steak and a fancy cocktail in west TX. The only thing I didn't really enjoy were the crab cakes. Apps were good otherwise. Old fashioned's were on point and the steak quality was very good, albeit slightly overcooked. I'd give it like a 3.7 outta 5 in terms of steakhouses
google avatar

Yelp
Absolute garbage!! By far the worst steak our group has ever tasted in our lives. The service was even worse!! The waitress knew since we had a group of 7 that she was getting 20 percent no matter what and it showed. Check your bill thoroughly because we found many errors that needed to be removed. The rotten smell when you walk down the steps should be a sign to go somewhere else. Disgusting!!

Yelp
Have a reservation or they will turn you away from an almost empty restaurant at 6pm. This place is on the high end, but the food is great. The facility is cute, but cramped. The bar is well stocked and the bartender is well versed.

Yelp
Was sooooo excited to return for lunch after 7 months of not having the opportunity to meet with others. I ordered the same item I did 7 months ago, a half salad with tuna. The half salad was the Caesar Salad. I really enjoyed the amount of dressing and Parmesan, but that portion of tuna was pathetic. $22 for that plate? They should lower the price if they're cutting the portions in third. 2 stars only because our waiter was a really nice guy. Will not be coming back.

Kennith V.

Yelp
Excellent food, outstanding service, wonderful atmosphere. Definitely recommend Opal's

Yelp
Always delicious. Never a bad meal. Staff is great. Wonderful drink selection. Literally everything on the menu is amazing

Sherry C.

Yelp
Dinner 2/14/24 @ 6:15 Service and ambience upstairs was good. Brussels were tasty. But how they have the audacity to serve what should be called hush puppies and call them crab cakes is shameful. Especially for a restaurant like this. And for $25. What a disappointment.

Yelp
Very nice place to eat, we had a good time and my steak was good. I was shocked though i have to admit , I ordered a single shot of 30 year old scotch and I noticed it costs $333 dollars, so probably a tad over my price range
google avatar

Amanda N.

Yelp
Had a reservation, but had to wait 10 minutes just for someone to come to the front. Sent my filet back twice and it still wasn't right, but my party was all finished so I kept it. It was flavorless. Mashed potatoes & green beans were also boring. Definitely not worth 50 something dollars. Brussel sprouts were amazing.

Michael C.

Yelp
Everything was Awesome Would recommend highly. Service was Spectacular food was Good.

Yelp
If you want a place with amazing food, great atmosphere and amazing service, go to Opals Table. Gina was an excellent server who was very attentive but also gave our table room to have our business discussion. She was friendly and knowledgeable. She checked foods to verify they did not contain any of the many allergens that we had. The ribeye had an excellent char and was cooked correctly to my specification. The crispy Brussels sprouts were seasoned perfectly. We had a booking misunderstanding and Julio, front of the house manager and Lori, the GM, were extremely kind and treated us great. They went above and beyond. The restaurant has a peaceful ambiance and is just beautiful.

Yelp
Such a cute place in Midland. Always hard to find establishments like these in smaller towns so when you find one, I love to support them. Great service. The desserts are heavenly and freshly made. Loved the cocktails.

Izzy J.

Yelp
Always consistently delicious. Staff is really great. Best mocktails in town. Have ordered so many things and I am always so pleased.
google avatar

Yelp
I guess the only people leaving reviews are the dissatisfied people b/c I had an amazing experience every time I come here. This place is very popular, the food is amazing and so are the drinks! Crab cakes are delicious and rich/filling, seared tuna is amazing and I also had the Fall salad which looks simple but it's the best salad I have ever had!
google avatar

Lucero T.

Yelp
Went in for my friend birthday dinner, it was ok! I got the 8oz prime filet and crab cakes for appetizer. It was good but not the best... especially for the price. The service was amazing though. I don't know if I would go back, rather spend my 75$ elsewhere.
google avatar

Mike C.

Yelp
Never got a chance to try the food! We showed up 10 minutes before our reservation and after a stare down with the staff in back, someone finally came out and said the hostess was downstairs and he would call them. After another award wait we walked out and went downstairs( at this point it's past our reservation time) only to be told we would have to go back upstairs so we had enough and left. If you didn't want to serve us put that on you page before people make a reservation! If I could give it a negative 10 I would. We ended up at Cowboy Prime for the better!!!

J L.

Yelp
I was so excited to try Opals but was sorely disappointed. Paid $26 for 4 medium pieces of shrimp wrapped in bacon which was okay, but not great. Paid $22 for lobster mac and cheese that had very little lobster. The best thing that I had for dinner was my drink, a fantastic Chilton! Service was good, food was average and not at all worth the very high price. I was so disappointed. I wish I had read the reviews! I would have chosen somewhere else to celebrate my birthday!

Yelp
I recently visited this restaurant with some clients. The food was very good and the atmosphere was unique for Midland, however the waiter was not great. Despite that, we had a great evening. I was looking back at my credit card statement several days later for something unrelated and noticed an additional nearly $80 was charged to my card. I called the restaurant to inquire, I thought there may have been a "gratuity included" sign that I missed, I certainly didn't want to jump to any conclusions about this being intentional. I was told the manager would call me back, he (Julio) did the following day. After sitting on a long hold he told me that he remembered this ticket (this conversation was only 3 days later) and that the waiter had forgotten to include some food items on the bill and so he (the manager) went in after I had already signed the ticket and left for the evening and added the additional food to the bill without any notification. I told him that I was never presented with an itemized receipt (the waiter was sparsely seen and we were entertaining clients so it was not the most important thing so long as I had the final transaction receipt to turn in for reimbursement to my employer) and that I would have gladly paid for the item had I known what was going on but that I also felt it highly inappropriate to add additional items to someone's ticket that had already left for the evening. He said, "I don't know what to tell you, that's just how I was trained." I then verified that he was in fact THE manager and not an assistant, the entire time he was very accusatory that I needed to pay for all of the food that we received that night. While I don't dispute that, once someone leaves an establishment you should NOT charge them for additional items without authorization after the fact. Additionally, we were there on a slow Tuesday night and had a reservation that was secured with an email as well as a phone number. There was a way to contact me and they chose not to.

Yelp
Went to eat here with my nephew when he was in town. I had never been here before. Parking can be a pain so I parked at the doubletree hotel parking garage (free) and walked 2 blocks over to the restaurant. We went down to the basement and sat at the bar. Very modern swanky place. Great vibe. Ordered a cocktail and they brought me back something totally different from what I ordered. So I told them and they apologized and got me what I ordered. We had the crab cakes for appetizer. They are really good but they are the smallest crab cakes ever. They are between a quarter and half dollar size. I ordered chicken fried and he ordered salmon. My chicken friend had zero seasoning in/on it. Super bland. The green beans were burnt. Mashed potatoes were bland as hell too. He liked his food. For as much as we spent i had higher hopes. Would I come back? Yes but just for happy hour menu.

Ali B.

Yelp
Love their farmers salad, Brussels sprouts and salmon entree. I get the same thing every time. It's always great.
google avatar

Alyssa M.

Yelp
Great food and service. Our steaks came out really salty; however, staff was super kind about it and made us a new steak. Our server was so kind and gave us free drinks and desserts due to the mishap.
google avatar

Madi J.

Yelp
Loved our experience here! The atmosphere is so inviting and pretty. The food is high quality and full of flavor. We tried the caprese salad, salmon and steak. Everything was wonderful! And our server Kay went above and beyond to help explain the menu. She even helped make us some custom drinks after asking what we liked. She was so friendly! Will definitely be back.

Ben W.

Yelp
Food was excellent. Service was poor. Our party of 12 had a mandatory tip of 138.00 and the server was not attentive at all.
google avatar

Ruth S.

Yelp
The food here is honestly some of the best in Midland. They have an upstairs seating area and downstairs (the basement). I prefer sitting in the basement but you can't go wrong with either Way. Guys like the cigar room too. Everyone who works there is incredibly nice, but the service itself can be a little hit or miss. However, last night it was perfect. Jaci took great care of us and everything was perfect. Also a big fan of their drinks.

Yelp
Was really excited to try this place out so my husband took me for my birthday. I was excited right away by the busy atmosphere and hopeful it was a sign of great things to come. We were seated and it took a bit for the waiter to get to us but he did come with water and ask if we'd like to order drinks. We hadn't been given a menu but noticed the QR code in a stand on the table so I pulled it up quickly while my husband struggled with it. We ordered 2 drinks after an awkward moment of scrolling without any suggestions. I had ordered Brut and was a little disappointed it came in a regular wine glass not a flute (really bubbles are better that way and this is supposed to be a fancy place) oh well it was a good Brut offered by the glass so I enjoyed it without complaint. When our drinks arrived we ordered an appetizer- the burrata caprese- and waited, and waited... about 30 minutes later the server returned and apologized he had just learned they were out of burrata could he offer us another appetizer on the house. I let him know crab cakes were my second choice and he came back with them quickly. There were 6 of them slightly larger than a quarter and they were over crisped more reminiscent of an overly crispy tater tot than a crab cake. Next we ordered entrees. My husband had gotten frustrated with the QR code and gone to their website to find the menu and as he ordered the waiter pointed out that dish was no longer available that the menu on the website was outdated. He was a little disappointed so I talked him into the spicy seafood linguine to split and then go from there. When it arrived it smelled delicious and had nice presentation except for the smallest little lobster tail we'd ever seen, ive definitely met bigger crawdads. Despite that the dish was excellent, I wouldn't recommend splitting it if you're hungry though because the portion really was probably only enough for one. If the waiter had offered some suggestions on a bottle of wine with our entree we would have bought one but he didn't and I didn't want to have to try to find the menu on my phone again, so he missed an upsale opportunity there. Next he offered dessert I opted for the beignets with ice cream and my husband had the chocolate mousse. The beignets were the superstar of the meal for sure. They were so good- crispy, hot, fresh and paired wonderfully with the creamy ice cream! The mousse was decent but definitely not on the same level. I don't know if they are a regular offering but if they are I would definitely come back for dessert. Overall I felt like our server was effective but rushed. The food was ok but not things I would rave about. Probably wouldn't order the crab cakes or linguine again. I'm not a boomer but if I go somewhere "upscale" please give me a menu and spend a little time on recommendations.

Yelp
Opals and opals basement is my top place to go in midland! The drinks and food are amazing. I have only been there for dinner but I have heard the lunch is amazing.

Chorus F.

Yelp
Opals is cheating customers. We ordered Lobster Mac n Cheese $29...after eating several bites, my husband turned to me and asked have you yet to taste lobster...no, neither of us had. I pulled back the roasted melted cheese that hid everything to find 3 tiny bites (if you could call it a bite) with lots of macaroni. The kitchen manager told our waitress it was a whole tail...LIE!!! Either the cook ate the tail or they are cheating and covering up the lack of meat with melted cheese. We paid full price...handed them back 80% of the Mac n Cheese and will never go back...poorly managed...inadequate help. And last time I had pecan chicken DRY DRY DRY and awful!
google avatar

Patricia C.

Yelp
The server was not on his game. We had to wave him down for refills. There was only our two top, a six top, and a four top sitting up stairs. Our order was not right and when they corrected it the food was cold. We are not at all impressed. They served white toast with burrata cheese. Are they kidding they could have used a baguette. The Brussels sprouts were good but could have been tossed in the Sheri sauce. We asked if the Ribeyes were prime because they didn't specify in the description. The server had no clue but then said yes a few minutes later after asking someone. The Ribeyes had so much fat and when they put the blue cheese on mine it was noticeably charred. For what they are charging, the food could have been better. My dogs enjoyed all the leftovers.

Yelp
Great food and wonderful wine selection! Opal's Table is definitely my go to--especially when I have guests in town. 5 stars!
google avatar

Matthew Y.

Yelp
I sat at the bar one afternoon and ate. Service was excellent. I had the filet and crab cakes. The steak had that charred edge that I like and the crab cakes were bite sized. Great food-I'll be back!
google avatar

Kylie G.

Yelp
This is such an amazing restaurant!! Appetizers are to die for, drinks are delicious & dessert. So so good!! Definitely recommend. They also have a bar down along with eating downstairs and it is very vintage. So beautiful.
google avatar

Jonathan F.

Yelp
Great place! Although it was busier than normal, we still had a great meal. The fillet was perfect. Next time, I hope to see the basement as we did not have the opportunity this time. It's a must try. Highly recommend!

Carol B.

Yelp
Jayce H was our server, and she was just EXCELLENT!!! She was thoughtful and helpful, especially with my food issues! (I have a lot of food intolerances.) My dinner was yummy, as was my husband's! It was noisy, but that certainly wasn't anyone's fault. Altogether, this was a big win on a Friday evening!
google avatar

Caitlin Z.

Yelp
Hands down the BEST restaurant in Midland! Service was quick, friendly, and eager to please. Food: They start you with complimentary pimiento cheese that's DELICIOUS! It has jalapeños in it which gives it a nice cake. We also ordered the crabcakes. They were very crispy and filled with lots of real crab. I chose to do the restaurant week menu. It came with an appetizer of beat and goat cheese salad. I'm not a big beer fan but it was delicious. Next I received the braised short rib with cheesy grits and root vegetables. My boyfriend did not do the restaurant week, he chose the ribeye with blue cheese on top. If you're going to get a steak make sure you get the blue cheese, it was to die for. His came with mashed potatoes and vegetables. For desert we had the bourbon bread pudding, and it was awesome just like everything else. This was our first time and we will definitely return! The other nicer restaurants in midland that we have gone to took so long to bring out the food. We spent about an hour on dinner which is the perfect amount of time for us!

Ross P.

Yelp
I made a reservation for two on Thursday in advance for my wife and I. We don't get dates nights very often and we decided on Opals Table. When we arrived they asked us to sit in the downstairs bar, not really what I had in mind, but we thought we will roll with it. Once we get downstairs they sit us in a back dark corners surround by tables of guys drinking beer and a game on the TV. We ended up sitting there for the better part of 10min and no one Greta us or takes our drink order. We saw 5 different serves walk by. We just left and went next door to Cancun where the service is si always great. Do better Opals Table. Read the room and at a minimum try to cover your tables.
google avatar

Bryan R.

Yelp
The macaroni and cheese with bacon was literally the best thing on the planet. Service was exceptional, but the ranch dressing is very gross and we really didn't care for the flavor of our steak. We got the truffle butter, so maybe that was the issue, but overall the flavors just didn't seem to be great for us. Other than the bacon Mac and cheese, we were not particularly impressed with the food. We might try it again, as the atmosphere was nice and the service is great. It's possible the food might be better next time.
google avatar

Taylor S.

Yelp
This place was pretty good. I wouldn't say amazing but definitely worth going to. They have a strict dress code, so no hats boys. The drink I got was amazing. I'm not a big drinker and omg it was everything. The corn cakes appetizer was also amazing!! My Mac and cheese was very ok and they forgot the bacon. The waiter was amazing and made up for it though. If you go you have to order the dolce de leche lava cake. Those were the best items!
google avatar

Lauren C.

Yelp
Opal's table has good fun and is one of the nicer places in town, but we don't think the food is worth the money you pay for it. We enjoy going there for a bit more of an upscale experience, but still Midland casual vibe. Wish the prices weren't as high for the plates you get.

Luke F.

Yelp
Been a few times, always try something different on the menu and never disappoints. Great service, great ambiance, and the basement is great. Awesome to have such a fantastic spot in Midland.
google avatar

Sequoyah S.

Yelp
Best dining experience I have had in Midland, hands down. Our server, Keith, was the perfect amount of attentive, the cocktails were amazing, and the food was delicious. My pork was amazingly flavored, but cooked well done- which is how most people like it- but I would've appreciated it medium or medium rare. Otherwise there are no complaints between apps, entrees, and drinks. My husbands shrimp and grits were to die for. The Spanish gin and tonic is the beautiful concoction with rosemary in it, and the crazy color changing drink is the chameleon, the last is the Eva Green. They are all amazing but wowza, the Eva Green will sneak up and bite you in the butt, it is so deliciously smooth... and full of vodka. We will DEFINITELY be back. Keith even opened one of the curtains for me so I could have better lighting for my pictures!

Yelp
One of my favorite Midland restaurants. Great food and great service. A little hidden but worth trying to find. With so many places off the 250 loop, it's nice to have a good restaurant in downtown.
