The Best Restaurants In Oxford - Oxford - The Infatuation

"Opera has been around for more than 10 years, but the spicy chicken wraps never get old. This lively North African cafe in Jericho is just as ideal for a quick morning coffee or a gooey lunchtime toastie, as it is a mid-afternoon slice of carrot cake and freshly squeezed apple juice. Walk through to the back and grab a seat in their covered terrace for a nice lunch. Inside, people tap away on laptops and out front, coffee catch-ups always go on a little longer than they were supposed to. There’s a lot on their menu, but our tried-and-tested favourite is the spicy chicken wrap. The chicken is wrapped in soft, flaky msemen flatbread and toasted until the cheese is all melty. Get one per person, minimum." - rianne shlebak

Google
The cutest little café with a small but interesting choice of food (breakfast dishes some variant of eggs benedict, see pic of them on mushrooms), and for lunch soup and a bunch of amazing wraps. Great fresh juices as well as coffees. Great staff! Seating outside, inside and through and down to a little "garden" area, all cosy and cute.

Solid little cafe with great menu. Can provide gluten free bread! No gluten free pastries o desserts though. I would recommend sitting in the back patio, very lovely and quaint. Food is simple, not a home run.

I order an omelette with salmon, the salmon and eggs where ok but the toast was super hard, it was an old bread and impossible to eat without force. I don’t know about their other foods but I cannot recommend this place when there’s other places to choose.

Just wanted to say a huge thank you to the team who treated me so kindly when I asked for our order to be changed to a takeaway. I wasn’t feeling well and had to leave and they were so kind and accommodating. The falafel salad I had was delicious and my kids both said their melts were amazing. Great cafe!

Welcome to Moroccan-vibe breakfast! One of the early-morning cafe you can find around Oxford town. I highly recommend the roasted/spicy chicken wrap, they are amazing! English breakfast tea is outstanding too. They are many seats available. Please also try their sweet buns. Good news for my Muslim friends, this cafe is halal 👏🏼

Been here several times now, food has always been great. The egg royal with avocado is very delicious and fresh. Normally very busy so you may need to wait to be seated if eating in.

EDIT: My friend and I went to Opera today. We went to get some iced coffees, but unfortunately we had the worst time. There was a person behind the till with short glasses and glasses, who was clearly quite stressed out by the queue. My friend and I were patient, and waited about 5 minutes before being served - this person was just rude, and also got our orders wrong. My friend ordered a biscoff iced latte but the coffee was overwhelming with hardly any of the biscoff flavour, and I ordered an iced Americano with vanilla and the vanilla was missing. The line was also out of the door so it would’ve meant another 15 minute wait to just have the ordered fixed. I’m so disappointed with this place, ever since new staff have joined, there’s been issues. EDIT: The cinnamon rolls are stunning! They have plain, chocolate or pistachio. Because they’re so popular, it’s hard to get your hands on one. The only issue I have is that the buns can sometimes be a bit burnt - but if you like a tiny bit of a bitter taste with sweet, this would be perfect as it’s the glaze they use gets burnt. I’m yet to get one that hot and fresh (since I always get one after class) but so far, each time I’ve come to this cafe to get one I’ve left happy! I have tried the carrot cake but it’s was too dry for me, but the cream cheese and walnut icing was brilliant. The staff are honestly wonderful too. They also do a student discount 😍🤍

Definitely my favorite place to grab a coffee! My go-to is their spicy chicken wrap (sometimes with soup). The place is nice to sit outside when the sun is out or there are also enough seats downstairs.

Yelp
A cozy corner for coffee or brunch! The menu is quite extensive (especially considering the size of the place). We got coffees and toasties. I was not impressed by the coffee (I got a latte), but the food was fresh and delicious! The portions were generous too. I am keen to return to try their brunch menu (everything looked amazing!). There are three sitting area sections, including an outdoor patio. The staff was cordial, helpful, and quick with our order. The prices were reasonable for the serving sizes. I highly recommend them for a quick bite or brunch!

Yelp
[REVIEW WRITTEN: 4/8] Tiny place, but this place has a BIG punch! :) This place has a wide variety of food for such a small hole-in-the-wall-location. Recommended by a friend as a fave and is a must try! The Deets: + Tons of selection for a small place. Order the chicken wrap (small side salad too) and fresh-squeezed OJ - epic portion with great taste. + Wi-Fi available, cozy cafe to work or study at. + 2 floors of sitting area, plus there is a covered outdoor seating area too. :) + Love that the servers the first question is asking if you have any food sensitivities! + Breakfast and lunch dishes Now go there...and let me know how you digs (or not)!

Yelp
This is a really cute cafe! I love the outdoor seating, though it does fill up quite a bit. The staff is also really nice, and there is quite an array of food and drinks you can order. Also a really great place to get work done. I personally haven't tried their chai, but I've heard good things about it. Will hopefully be back soon!

Yelp
Helpful tips: They have a student discount! This is an adorable cafe, and one that I really, really wanted to love. Customer service is wonderful, drinks and food are good, atmosphere is wonderful (music choice and natural lighting)! It's a great place to study. My one qualm is the fact that they cook food on the first floor where all the seating areas are (there are also some in the basement but that means no natural lighting), meaning that there are a lot of grease fumes. It gets in your hair, your clothes, and can be hard to breathe in if you're sensitive to oil fumes, especially because it's a small cafe. I'd love to come back, but I've been here twice and have had to leave earlier than I like because I simply couldn't stand it. If you're not sensitive to those things, this is otherwise a wonderful cafe.

Yelp
Nice cafe in a quaint part of Oxford! Likes: - very friendly service - amazing north African music - delicious looking pastries - interesting menu items like shakshuka - wifi! Dislikes: - coffee wasn't very good - unappealing interior and plates which took away from the experience. Will be back for more food because it was absolutely delicious- for a quick breakfast :)

Yelp
One of my favorite cafes in town, both to sit and work or to meet a friend for lunch. Delicious middle eastern food if you're looking for something hearty, as well as a lovely range of coffee/tea and desserts. The staff are always cheerful and nice and the whole atmosphere is relaxed but in a sophisticated, Oxford sort of way. I also love the posters they have up, the raccoon in sunglasses is my favorite.

Yelp
Trust me - I've tried every place in Oxford and this is the only one I go back to... and at least twice a week! Best coffee in town, delicious pastries and food, excellent service, great prices.

Yelp
Nice small little cafe, great for brunch, vegetarian options are fantastic. Don't bring too many friends tho - it is really tiny and waiting time might get long...

Yelp
Poor, very poor service! I ordered soup and when paying saw an offer for a half panini, so asked if I can have that as well, the owner said yes. Waitress gives me the price out of the blue, which is not the difference between the deal and what I have just paid. I said what it should be, she charged me this amount. Then I am still standing there and both the waitress and the owner started chatting and make coffees, backs to me, completely ignoring me. Soup was served as a takeaway. They both clearly forgotten about the sandwich. Finally the owner reaches to the panini, and wants to grill it, I am watching him, and saying 'I thought you must have forgotten about it'. He goes on about another order that he has to serve before me. Well, he hasn't finished serving me yet!!!! At that point I was annoyed with the service and asked to leave a feedback, he nervously picked up a pen and a note, then changed his mind and threw money at me, and said he refuses to serve me and asks to leave!!!!!!!! That evening the café was quiet, all 4 customers overheard the conversation. It is appalling place with disguising service and revolting attitude!
