This place is a disgrace to the Michelin Guide. Our experience was dreadful, a sharp contrast to every other Michelin-starred restaurant we’ve visited (let alone a two-star).
“Local” produce included Australian truffles, clearly reheated (!) bread from a local yet nameless bakery, and butter with no origin (how did it earn the place on the table?) . None of it showcased the restaurant itself. The food lacked character - so generic that the protein (pigeon or wagyu) could have been swapped without affecting the dish. That’s mediocrity at its finest.
The non-alcoholic pairing was an expensive embarrassment, not only failing to complement the food but actively clashing with it. One dessert was barely edible after minutes, dominated by strong alcohol - never listed as an ingredient, and never flagged despite the non-alcoholic pairing.
Service was the weakest point. No introductions, no engagement, no professionalism. When we raised issues with the pairing, our untouched drinks were taken away, yet we were still charged. After protest, the staff argued, dismissed us, and only after pressure did a nameless manager silently swap the receipt. No apology. No words. Nothing.
False advertising on local produce. Bad food (at this supposed level). Unacceptable pairings. Abysmal service. Tourist-trap behavior. Yes, the sauces were good, but that’s not enough.
The worst part: these complaints have long appeared in Google reviews. This is not an outlier. Michelin inspectors saw the same things - and still awarded two stars. That’s shameful.
This isn’t two stars. It’s minus two. Worth a detour only to avoid.
Shame on you, German Michelin inspectors.
