Ophelia

It's a French style restaurant with excellence in simplicity and I really enjoyed the Sunday dinner here. It's about £21 with all the trimmings. Unlike most places you also don't have to reserve weeks in advance. The mash potatoes were smooth, buttery and heavenly. The beef was perfectly cooked. The carrot was sweet and had bite. We went for the chicken liver pate and the moules marinière for starters but tbh you'll probably be full with just the mains. They were both great though. Excited to come back for the a la carte menu at some point.

Have eaten here multiple times now. One of the best Sunday roasts in Newcastle. The steak frites are sensational value for money! Wines are top notch! Don’t even get me started on the sprouts and Comte mousse from the Winter set menu! 😮‍💨

Ophelia is a gem of a restaurant, we enjoyed impeccable service, superb food, and divine drinks. We started with a sharp well made and refreshing mocktail, followed by oysters paired with a natural and refreshing rose. We opted for langoustines and the pate with toasted brioche for starters both were extremely tasty. The lamb and duck mains were nothing short of divine, perfectly complemented by an unusual and beautiful red wine. The sommelier's expertise shone through as they paired each course with a wine that took the flavours to ethereal levels. It was a special occasion, and we were very happy with the value for money and portion sizes. Ohpelia has set a high bar and we can't wait to return.

We came out a bit disappointed with the food, especially the mains, which seemed very overpriced for what you get compared to the starters and snacks, which are more fun, interesting, varied and overall more nicely priced. Service, drinks and atmosphere were great.

I have seen some mixed reviews for this place and I felt that I really needed to chime in with my experience. I booked at the last minute for a Sunday Lunch. The service we received was absolutely fantastic. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. I thought the food was absolutely delicious and I keep thinking to myself what excuse I can make to go back. Who can I invite this time? The decor inside is very trendy and clean. On a Sunday we had a starter, main course (sunday roast), dessert, glass of wine each, 1 soft drink, and service charge included. The bill came to a total of about £110 which was about £50'ish each with a tip included which I was more than happy to include. I thought what we had for what we paid was excellent. See you soon. Food and service were superb. Restaurant has been fitted our beautifully, there is a small bar area for cocktails before your meal. Great additional to Gosforth area, highly recommended!

Fabulous food, service and venue! This was the Steak Frites night with a couple of additions from the a la carte! Nick and colleagues always willing to go the extra mile and more!! Perfect kick off for a birthday wkend!!
