Chicago’s Best Comfort Food - Eater Chicago

"Though its famous neon sign now belongs to Smashing Pumpkins frontman (and Highland Park resident) Billy Corgan, Orange Garden remains a nostalgic favorite among Chicagoans in the know. The restaurant’s hand-rolled egg rolls (shrimp and pork or vegetarian) are Cantonese American and made with a hint of peanut butter. Most restaurants don’t make them like this anymore." - Naomi Waxman, Ashok Selvam

Orange garden has long been one of my most favorite places for their burrito size egg rolls which are very delicious with that vintage Chicago style peanut butter/ five spice flavor that you can only get in here. All the other dishes I've had are slightly above average, not amazing . I honestly could eat two or three orders of egg rolls and call it a night! It's an old school Americanized Cantonese restaurant, with Chinese zodiac paper placemats in that vintage 1970s Chinese red & gold deco. The service is very attentive and friendly.

I visited after reading online that this is one of the oldest restaurants in Chicago. I found the food decent; for the price I'd say it was even quite good. I had the general tso and kung pao chicken and liked that they were not as cloying as some other Chinese American restaurants make these dishes. I'd definitely get takeout if I lived nearby, and the idea of people enjoying the same ok Chinese American food nearly one hundred years ago makes me feel like a part of the city's history.

Me and my mom and my daughter went there because I heard so much good things about it and it was very disappointing. We order egg rolls and they were salty hardly any shrimps also my daughter ordered chicken teriyaki in a stick they brought her toasted chicken in a stick with no flavor I’m sorry but my experience was horrible and the waitress wasn’t friendly she had an attitude like she hate it her job. I will never go there again .

9/17 - I have been going to this terrific Chinese restaurant since my grandparents took me there in the 1950’s. Always great food and fast service. Anna and Julie are warm and friendly. 12/2 - Another great dinner. Love coming here. Anna and Ben are terrific waiters staff. 12/25 - Delightful to go on Christmas Day. Anna and Matt were terrific hosts. 2/10 - A terrific dinner. Ben was, as always, very friendly at the checkout! 3/12 - A great meal with very large proportions. Enough for two more meals at home. Anna and Ben were terrific. 4/3 - Ben and Julie were very friendly. Love this restaurant.

Google
Have not ordered in a while. The food is good there. The lady in front was very nice and polite. I got the kung pow Chicken. It was good, meat is tender but the sauce was a little bland.

Google
This is the oldest Chinese restaurant in Chicago. Their food is phenomenal. (Their egg rolls are delicious and DOUBLE the size of those anywhere else.) People from all across the country keep coming back. Thebes even hosted after wedding parties.

It’s a shame that I never had had the opportunity to eat here until now. This place is awesome. How some reviews are negative, I have absolutely no idea. I will certainly be back when wanting truly excellent Chinese food. And by the way, the portions are very generous!

Google
Update 4 years later: Even better in person! Their tofu dishes are so crispy and decadent. Love that they serve tofu in triangles! Still the best in the biz for egg rolls and homemade hot mustard. Delivery using their website—such large portions! Ordered Mongolian Beef for the first time just because of how good it looked in pictures. Tasted even better than I imagined. Split half-and-half with my boyfriend’s General Tso’s Chicken and Fried Rice. No wonder this place has been around since 1926!

Yelp
For a vintage restaurant experience, the Orange Garden offers excellent (and plentiful) food, old world customer service in a room that was designed in the 1930's. Today, the place is busy serving the online world with a busy take out desk. Seating is always available. Try it out!

Yelp
Did a takeout from here on a Friday night. The oldest Chinese restaurant in Chicago, and not one person dining in. All takeout. Shame on us, seriously. The place was spacious and seems inviting yet it was still empty and a table full of takeout orders. The staff here was nice as well. We ordered their Orange Peel Chicken, Beef Chow Mein and Chicken Fried Rice. The orange chicken was good. It had a hint of spiciness but overall a flavorful dish. The chicken fried rice was good as well. A little dry but didn't have a strong dark soy sauce flavor to it which is always a good thing. The beef chow Mein was a no go. It's definitely not the chow Mein that we're used to with noodles. This was beef with vegetables in a thick sweet sauce. Definitely wouldn't order that again. Overall the food for the most part was good. And the prices were fare as well. Despite me feeling guilty for doing takeout, I still can't see myself dining in here. Wouldn't mind doing takeout from here again. Perhaps to try a few other dishes.

Yelp
Visited here with an ex-fling a few months ago. The egg rolls were very large, but the orange chicken left much to be desired. I found it a bit too similar to the sesame chicken ordered by my fling. It was almost like there was no difference between the two dishes' flavors. The service, however, was great.

Yelp
Great food and friendly service. Old school, traditional restaurant. Didn't disappoint!

Yelp
I have never been so disrespected in my entire life, the text feed says it all. we have tipped more than five dollars every time, we have a big family and appreciate our workers. I wish i could give ZERO stars.

Yelp
I haven't been here since the 80s so I brought a friend with. We shared kung pao chicken and a couple egg rolls. It was just as good as ever. They have wine or drinks so we went for a drink at the Black Eagle a few doors east after dinner.

Yelp
This is the oldest Chinese restaurant in Chicago . It has been open since 1932 so they must be doing something right. I used to come here in the 80's when I lived closer to this neighborhood. I dined in today and it's exactly how I remembered it - delicious. I had the Mongolian beef, chicken and shrimp and it was great . The egg roll was great too. This restaurant maintains old school charm. Pricing is fair. Service is very good. Excellent- I'll be back !

Yelp
I am surprised this place doesn't have more stars. It's clearly a neighborhood favorite. In the two times I have had dinner at the restaurant, the phone was constantly ringing with take out orders ad well as long lines of delivery drivers waiting to pick up. The food here is classic Chinese American. The wontons are made in-house as well as the egg rolls. I later learned from one of the staff that the egg roll recipe has been the same for the last 30+ years. They also remind me of the ones my dad made for his restaurant. The decor looks like it has been stuck in time; that's the charm of the restaurant for me. The inner dining room looks like it's the original. However, most of it is used as the office and storage. The bathroom could use a little updating, though. The portions are huge, quality is good, and prices decent--so there's a lot of value. The shrimp and lobster sauce is old Hong Kong style, with bits of pork, egg and black beans in a brown sauce. Yum!! The lo mein noodles are tasty and not too oily like what one would find at many places. It actually reminds me of the kind my relatives would make at home. So good! We also had take out here, through Uber Eats. The food always gets here hot and on time. There's never too long of a wait. Restaurant is closed on Monday's, FYI.

Yelp
After hearing great comments from friends and neighbors about this place I decided to order take out. My favorite local Chinese Restaurant Wing Ho closed down so have been struggling to find a good replacement. This palce is great! Old school , I ordered Won Ton Soup, Egg rolls, Crab Rangoon, Shrimp Chow Mein with crispy noodles, and Chicken Almond Din. All were excellently prepared, packed well and very tasty. Was able to park right in front and my food was ready for pick up. I will definitely return for take out and even dine in!

Yelp
Today Me and uncle drove from Itasca to chicago just to eat at my uncles favorite place, Orange Garden. It was rather cold inside the restaurant, service and food were mediocre at best. My combo fried rice had an overwhelming un-fresh shrimp taste that was beyond unusual for orange garden and My uncle ordered a lunch special Mongolian Beef consisting of at minimum 80% vegetables. When we advised food not tasting as usual management felt like we were trying to get free meal and treated us as such. We did not accept a free meal and left completely disappointed. Maybe it was just a fluke with the food and that's ok, it happens unfortunately we were not treated well at all. My apologies for no pictures and the negative review. Thank you for reading my review

Yelp
All around excellent. It is the once ubiquitous Chinese-American restaurant in its classic form easily recognizable by its Art Deco design. The clean interior is traditional diner booths lit with recessed incandescence under vents, in black weathered and repaired leatherine. Broad dark wood frames trim frame the walls with laquired village scapes float on facing walls. Two sets of dragons trot above either end of the dining room over comfortable midcentury chairs at the plastique table-clothed 4 tops. The fare was commensurate with the decor: fresh ingredients including the fried skin of the egg rolls with a hint of peanut butter. The seafood, poultry, and beef held their distinct character under the unifying Szechuan gravy. The flavors were clear and pleasant. The fried rice could have doubled as dessert for those with a taste for it. The mustard was vaporous and expansive and nothing was over-salted. A very familiar place not to be missed on atmosphere alone, it adds much to the experience. The waitstaff was a delight. The tiny bathroom a sanctuary. The ice water was superb.

Yelp
We have been going to Orange Garden for 40 years! The quality, tastiness, quantity, has all stayed the same. Excellent Chinese restaurant and a travel back in time in the inside dining. We love the egg rolls, the potstickers, the ht and sour soup, the orange chicken, the tofu dishes, the shrimps are all plentiful and good, eggfoo young, fried rice and mongolian beef. Never had a bad meal.
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered carry out from here and was very disappointed. The sesame chicken arrived with a funky fake red color that was a bit off putting. But the worst part were the egg rolls. They were inedible because they were sitting in a pool of grease. One of the egg rolls had a small hole in it and when I tipped it, grease poured out of the hole. I realize they are supposed to be fried, but I have never had one actually sitting in a puddle of grease inside the paper. Gross though

Elyce B.

Yelp
Good food and generous portions. The one thing I would suggest is to include a larger container of rice with the large-size entrees. There isn't really enough rice with the small container that they currently give.

Yelp
I ordered from here because the place I usually order from was closed the whole week of Christmas. And that's probably my last time. I ordered Kung Pao tofu & Sichuan vegetables... but that's not what I got. I got Kung Pao vegetables (nice enough flavor but almost no heat) and what I assume was sweet and sour tofu, since it had a rather sweet red sauce. It was pretty good, just not what I ordered. I also ordered egg foo young, which they got right and which was delicious. Also the free egg roll was kinds mushy blah inside.
google avatar

Yelp
I just had the wonton soup along with an egg roll and let me tell you how amazing it all was!! You guys!! Their egg rolls are absolutely delicious!!! So authentic made with pb. I stumbled upon this gem after searching for authentic egg rolls and I am so happy I did! I can't even imagine what other dishes taste like if both the wonton soup and egg roll were so good. Yay! Definitely looking forward to coming back :)

Marilee K.

Yelp
Wooo this was bad. All the pork smelled old. There was no seasoning in the pork & noodle soup. It tasted like dishwater. The order of BBQ pork was more like BBQ Jerky with a sickly sweet sauce. Overcooked, hard to chew. And the egg roll was also under seasoned and I couldn't find any pork in it, just flavorless cabbage. God this food was awful.
google avatar

Yelp
Oh how I've missed you Orange Garden! Many years ago I lived around the corner and ordered at least once a week! We stopped by and got takeout tonight and I'm so happy we did. The food is still just as delicious and the servings are more than generous. I got one of my old favorites: chicken egg foo young. I haven't had egg foo young since before covid started. It was so good and it made me so happy to enjoy one of my favorites after so many years! I remembered how I craved Orange Garden's egg rolls during my pregnancy almost two and a half decades ago! My husband ordered kung pao beef. It had big chunks of green peppers. The large order was so big there's plenty for lunch tomorrow. Even though we live a ways away from Orange Garden now, we both agreed it was worth the trip and we look forward to going back again and trying more of our old favorites!!

David K.

Yelp
My husband and i have been faithful customers of Orange Garden for several years now and consider this restaurant one of the finest Chinese Restaurants in the city. That was until recently when while eating my husband thought that he had lost a tooth which turned out to be a huge piece of glass (see attached photo). I contacted the restaurant several days later, explained the situation to one of the workers and was told that the manager would call me back after leaving my phone number with the employee. It has now been three days passed and I have heard nothing. I do not understand why this is being ignored. This is unfortunate. I can only hope that they are not this careless on a regular basis.

Yelp
We've been coming here for decades and it's always been fantastic food and service. Tonight was a little different due to another table next to us that, due to a simple kitchen error, decided to browbeat the server. This person absolutely would not stop repeating the same thing, over and over again, getting louder and louder. Apparently this simple issue was "The worst thing that has ever happened to her in her LIFE!". I sincerely doubt that, but I wouldn't know for sure. 5 stars for food and for service, 0 stars for not kicking this person out for verbally abusing another human being.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm not really a huge fan of Chinese food. When given the choice between Chinese and some place else, I would always go with the other option. It's quite the dilemma when my fiancé loves, loves, LOVES Chinese food. We headed to orange garden (relationships are about comprise, am I right?!), and I really wasn't expecting much. We got a couple of egg rolls, crab rangoon, broccoli chicken, and combination chow fun. First and foremost, portions are MASSIVE. When Sarah S. said her order lasted her four meals, believe it. I was completely stuffed about a 1/3 of the way through. Everything was a-okay, much to my pleasant surprise. It wasn't mind blowing by any means, but it was tolerable. I've definitely had better Chinese, but they have the whole "oldest Chinese restaurant in the city" going for them, so it's worth a stop if you're a Chinese food lover.

Yelp
Old school place with great vibe and byob. Byo corkscrew too. Does delivery biz at a clip while you flip thru a big menu and the owners speaking loudly to each other in the other room. Plenty of space on a Friday night.
google avatar

Carlos G.

Yelp
4 stars , only because I haven't tried every dish, but the ones that I have were awesome. Love that they have the old style traditional egg rolls so crispy and tasty. The best orange chicken dish I've ever had, top quality and large portions are always satisfying. Irving and Lincoln is a busy intersection but parking is never too hard to find you may have to cross four lane intersection at most. Old school traditional eat-in restaurant, has great atmosphere. Service is always friendly and the menu choices are plentiful. North side favorite, for too long.
google avatar

Yelp
Very Poor Customer Service. They are not accommodating for something as simple as wanting fried rice instead of white rice. I said I'm willing to pay the extra charge "no you can't get it what else you want." The food was not good worth the hassle even if you're craving Chinese Food. Then when you order pick up the food is not ready and they just say "no sit down" literally. I would not recommend & will not be wasting my mom here again.
google avatar

Jeff K.

Yelp
I love this place for what it is. Delicious big portions of retro Americanized Chinese food. It's what I grew up with and often crave. After Wing Ho closed, I was afraid I would need to travel to New Star to get my fix. The decor is right out of a movie. The service is great and I'm already planning my next visit.
google avatar

Yelp
Orange Garden is your standard classic "Chinese American" fare, but it is of very good quality. A lot of restaurants have let simple fried rice dishes go by the wayside - here, you can get actual egg fried rice if you want to. I have, and it's delicious. I also like their lemon chicken, Ma Po tofu, and beef almond din - to name a few. You can get pieces of fried tofu as an appetizer - I haven't seen that anywhere else I've been. Customer service inside the restaurant is good, delivery has also always been good and without mistakes. Once they accidentally added sesame seeds to my order - they immediately checked with me to see if that would be OK (it was, but it's so lovely that they checked). This is my favorite restaurant for this kind of not-quite-authentic Chinese comfort food.

Yelp
I was eager to check out Chicago's oldest Chinese restaurant - if anything just to see why it's been around so long. The inside is pretty original and nicely kept. Some old looking murals on the wall. I reviewed the menu and decided to try the Cantonese Shrimp and also get the full dinner version of the Mongolian Beef. That way I could check out an eggroll and their egg drop soup. The Cantonese Shrimp were five circles of prawnish fun. A tad greasy at the outset - I tapped off some with my napkin. Overall pretty good with some sweet and sour sauce. The egg drop soup hit the spot as well - just the way I like it. And the eggroll was a good size and quite tasty. Total hits on the appetizers. I ordered the Mongolian Beef medium spicy. I often get this dish on first time visits to Chinese restaurants as it's something I regularly order so it's a good point of comparison. The order came out. 1. It was a good sized portion. 2. Decent amount of rice and the rice noodles were placed on top so they didn't get overly soggy. 3. Maybe a little less spice than desired, but in the world of hot spice, less is really more. 4. Veggies (mostly green peppers) were cooked perfectly. Overall, the place was a pleasant surprise. I'll have to check it out again sometime - definitely a thumbs up.

Yelp
I just spent $10 on a container full of fried batter. No exaggeration. Undercooked beef as well. I'm not super picky about takeout Chinese, but c'mon. This is bare minimal stuff.
google avatar

Jennie S.

Yelp
During COVID, this was definitely a impulse dinner order, one made with my stomach. I have this menu in my kitchen drawer, very easy access! For starters, their crab Rangoon and veggie egg rolls were delicious and egg drop soup. All delicious, hence the 3 star rating. We ordered Veggie Lo Men, definitely not remarkable; Cashew Chicken-white in color and um, where are the cashews???? And chicken friend rice..not much chicken. So, I would recommend passing on the Garden for sure!

Yelp
The is some legit Chinese food in the most unusual area. North Center/Lincoln square isn't really known for their Chinese food, but this is one of the strongest and consistent Chinese restaurants I have been to. If you have read by other Chinese restaurant reviews, you know I have a Hot and Sour Soup test. This place passes with flying colors. We also got egg rolls and potstickers. I thought the egg rolls were a little too full of vegetables instead of meat, but I did appreciate that they were very crispy. Sometimes, egg rolls can get a little soggy. Not here! The potstickers were phenomenal! For dinner, we got the Orange Chicken and Mongolian Beef. They came out warm instead of hot, but their flavors were there! I especially liked the Orange Chicken which had some really good batter on it. I prefer my Mongolian Beef to be a little more crispier, but it still was pretty good. I thought it was a little soggy, but that's the way some places make it. I know some others complained about service. We didn't see any problems while we were there and would actually compliment the good service we got. I heard afterwards that this is the oldest Chinese restaurant in Chicago. That should be enough of a reason to try it out! I'll be going back
google avatar

Sarah S.

Yelp
Surprisingly much better than expected! When ordering I was a bit sad that there were no lunch specials on Sundays (M-F) only but I think it actually worked out for the best for me. I ordered a small sesame chicken which ended up being a big portion! I'm curious how big the large must be! The small made 4 meals for me! I don't eat a ton in one sitting but that was still quite shocking to me to get so much food for just $7! The most unforeseen thing of my Orange Garden experience is that their orange chicken was really quite good. It has a slight kick to it but it's nothing significant and gives a spicy flavor without being overpowering. Chicken was really fresh and cooked just perfectly with a wonderful sauce covering it and a dashing of broccoli. I was really quite happy with the dish and am now looking forward to trying more from Orange Garden! Awesome old school sign outside. BYOB. They are on Spring Rewards.
google avatar

Karen H.

Yelp
It is the OLDEST Chinese resident in Chicago, and they have the very first neon sign ever installed in the city-like maybe 100 years ago! It looks like your typical dive Chinese restaurant, but I been eating at this place for almost 50 years!! Their food ROCKS!! It's what you imagine the best Cantinese chinese food should be like! Try it! BYO, the last time I was there, and they do carry out as well.

Yelp
I used to drive out of my way to pick up from Orange Garden for years. It has been sone time since I have ordered. I am not one to post reviews but I am so angry with the dinner. I am assuming they changed ownership. I walked in while waiting for 5 min with nobody at the front I heard a table walk out and say how terrible there dinner was. Honestly the most tasteless dinner I have ever experienced nothing had flavor. Beef and broccoli is pounded thin cut beef. These were the thickest cut beyond edible pieces of meat disgusting. Crab Rangoon soggy and tasteless. Same with the Egg rolls. I really thought I was part of an episode of Kitchen Nightmares. Again this is my nature to do this but I can tell by the way I was eventually greeted this place can care less. Instead of calling, driving back is not an option this is the only way I can express my anger. It is not about the wasted money I just spent it is about how something that has been so great Just became beyond terrible and tasteless.
google avatar

Kim B.

Yelp
Quite disappointed!!! Husband got the Kung Pao chicken, he said it was the most flavorless he KP he has ever had. I got shrimp egg foo young, flavorless as well. The eggroll was TERRIBLE, took one bite and threw it out. I ordered thinking I could enjoy leftovers, instead threw all the food out!!! Never again...
google avatar

Yelp
I've tried their takeout a couple of times since I live in the neighborhood. I always feel like I'm invading the place when I walk in there because they greet me with this wild eyed look, like I'm either dressed in camo or I've parallel parked a UFO. I don't know but I feel like I have to whisper. I like their sesame chicken a lot. It's been consistent on every visit, it's not scorching spicey and it's not too soggy. Their fried rice has this different flavor that I can't put my finger on, like it's a different oil used to fry it or something. It's different from any other fried rice from a Chinese restaurant I've been to in Chicago, who knows, maybe this is how it is suppose to taste. The egg rolls are awesome. I really groove on those. Overall I like it, probably like it a lot but I don't love it. I'd go back again without a question.

Joe O.

Yelp
Wish I had not slept on this place for so long! For someone who yearns for the days of quiet dinners out with good food in a cozy atmosphere this place was perfect for me. No club music blasting, no faux vintage industrial nonsense, just good food served fresh and hot. Friendly service and a great value, perfect for a night out with friends before seeing a show or grabbing drinks.

Karin C.

Yelp
I order a lunch special of Chicken Kow. The chicken was delish, but just filled with celery and bok Choy. Maybe two pieces of carrot, same with mushrooms and pea pods. No water chestnuts, bamboo shoots or broccoli. Also given in a styrofoam container that leaked all over the bags. So many restaurants to choose from that can do better.
google avatar

Izzy S.

Yelp
I had placed an order on Grubhub everything I got was nasty I was only able to take a few bites and after seeing the shit in my shrimp it threw me off. The crab ragoons tasted like they were made couple days ago and kept in a heater. They were so stale and disgusting. Just a waste of money. They took forever to deliver and bring me my food. Everything was cold, stale, and definitely not worth the price. Hopefully the homeless like it.
google avatar

Corinne T.

Yelp
Really enjoyed the Combination LoMein and delicious egg rolls! Portions were large and enough for many meals!
google avatar

Meli M.

Yelp
oldest Chinese restaurant in Chicago. It also fetures the oldest working neon sign in the city this establishment opened in 1926, the food is authentic and comes in big portions steaming hot and super delish great athmosphere and the Fortune and almond cookies at the end of the meal are so incredibly good
google avatar

Kristen H.

Yelp
Ordered delivery from Orange a Garden tonight, big disappointment. Ordered Kung pao chicken, Szechwan Beef, and orange chicken. Pros: good portions for decent cost, warm when arrived, crisp veggies in the dishes, generous on the fortune cookies, good rice Cons: none of the dishes were at all spicy as specified, no flavor at all really, meat awkwardly mushy, super bland, Kung Pao Chicken was really just chicken + green bell peppers. Had some issues with delivery but not sure where the disconnect was. All in all, would not order from this place ever again. Was looking forward to it but big let down. If you are looking for good ol' Chinese take out, look elsewhere.
google avatar

Tim S.

Yelp
BYOB Classic Chinese food served here, I think I like it because it brings back memories of going out for Chinese with my Grandparents in Montreal. Sure it is an old place, maybe a little tired, but for a no frills heaping portion of tasty food it sure hits the spot. Start with the Egg Rolls, make sure to put on plenty of the mustard... careful it is spicy. If you are going as a group the portions are huge, maybe go for 3 entrees for 4 people, or not so you can enjoy the leftovers the following day. Pro Tip - make you meal a full dinner for $2.95 more and get an Egg Roll and Soup to start! BYOB
google avatar

David D.

Yelp
Wow. To be fair, I've only eaten here once, but the dish (Mongolian chicken) was so bad I have to chime in with the other one-star folks to urge others not to bother with this place. It may be the oldest Chinese restaurant in town (I haven't done the research), but it's just flavorless, bad, pointless food. The dish is even advertised as "spicy", and -- honestly -- I've tasted more flavor from the blandest soup when I'm in the middle of a severe head cold and can't taste anything. The complimentary egg roll supposedly had meat in it but could have been served to a vegetarian with no complaint except for reaching across the table for SOME sauce to give it any flavor but "grease." Strongly avoid.

Yelp
So i love Chinese food- like really love it . My gf wanted to take me to a place she used to go with friends when younger and thought this would be my jam- but to be honest it wasnt. Considering i go with what others recommend between this and yelp i went away from my norm for a main dish. To start i had the eggrolls. Now the size of it looked amazing but once opened there was no meat! Also the mustard was great but the sweet and sour sauce was the most watered down sweet and sour in my life. Heavily disappointed and thus 0* rating on this. Next i ordered the shrimp lobster style and can say it was a 3. Good portion, shrimp were rubbery though - and sauce was just ok.! Shocked soo many people love it but i assume the this is the only option near by. Next i tried my gfs combo fried rice and it was dry and looked burnt. Never had this had of fried rice so again a 0. Definitely disappointing.! Service was about a 3 - not good or bad, and decor was fine. Only reason it got a 2. But will not be back most likely

Yelp
I think Orange Garden is a delight and I also know the owners of that restaurant. I love the food! The owner are very pleasant and hard working family. The family tries very hard to make every attempt to give there best for their customer. Operating a restaurant is not easy but they do everything for their customers.

Yelp
There are old establishments sprinkled around the city that have withstood the test of time. For one reason or another, generations keep returning. Trendy storefronts have come and gone around the classic Orange Garden, yet it still stands. Grandma asked for some sesame chicken, specifically from OG, so naturally we obliged and over did it with General Tso's, kungpao beef, and shrimp in lobster sauce as well. She must know a secret we didn't. I should have stopped at the egg roll. Besides a crippling stomach thing this morning, the entrees left me incredibly disappointed. Sorry for the one measly photo, but I had to show you the sad excuse for kungpao. The peanuts were the only indication it was KP; besides that, it was bland, overdone with cornstarch, and boring. Shrimp with lobster was a little better, but cornstarch was again a main ingredient, and it too was one-note. I'm not into the breaded chicken dishes, but I tried them anyway. General Tso had an okay sweet and sour flavor, and they both suffered from overbreaded chicken. It was a mess of chicken and dumplings. Honestly, I would give it one star, but we only took it to carry out, so maybe inside service is better. This place is a dinosaur, and how it has survived all these years is beyond me. Is this everyone's grandma's favorite Chinese restaurant?

Yelp
Used to be our most favorite.... ordered from other places saving Orange Garden for special occasions. Tonight we waited over 2 hours for delivery! Called after an hour... sat on hold for 15min. They apologized and said that grub hub had priority?! Called again at almost 2 hours and they said they didnt know what was going on. 2+ hours later the food finally arrives. The driver called when he was out front and apologized numerous times as he ran to the door. Everything was over cooked.... horribly overcooked. Ordered our favorite, sweet and sour chicken... the chicken was so tough and over cooked it was almost inedible. The sauce was dark and tasted burnt. I know y'all are busy but this was ridiculous!
