The 10 Best Restaurants & Bars On Orcas Island - Seattle - The Infatuation

"No trip to Orcas is complete without a lap (or two) at the farmer’s market, and it’s a great place to get a literal taste of the island in one afternoon. There are a bunch of treats to buy like baked goods, jams, and even personal pizzas, but the one thing you can’t miss are the homemade Salvadorean pupusas. The masa dough is fluffy, the fillings are flavorful, and the accompanying curtido slaw is tangy with the right amount of acidity. Grab one along with a stack of carnitas tacos and watermelon aguas frescas for a pretty perfect to-go lunch." - aimee rizzo

What a nice market with fresh produce offerings, local artist pieces and food stalls. A great local event that is welcoming to visitors. A fun place to have a picnic or listen to music.

Its cute. But mostly vendors and food. Not a lot of farmers. Couldnt find fruit!

Good food, fun atmosphere, lots of local vendors like, Bossey's feltworks, and Iland Thyme.

Locally grown food from Orcas Island farms. A vendor spinning wool from her farm's sheep. The historical museum is fantastic, opens at 11am. Live folk music. Family-friendly affair!

So many different vendors and options! All local food and art. The people are so nice and everything is high quality. Get some fresh oysters to munch on as you wander around and you won't be disappointed.

This market rocks! So many places to eat. We enjoyed the mushroom grilled cheese sandwich which I’ll remember forever.

Probably the most fun thing I do all year. Especially on Solstice weekend. And the parade. And the music. And so many happy gorgeous people.at the Market. Thank you Eastsound.

Yelp
We stayed at The Landmark Hotel and lucky enough to just walk over to Orcas Island Farmers Market. It was a cool and breezy July day. There were at least a dozen food stalls selling anything from home baked bread, cookies, donuts, Mexican food, and Asian. There were stalls selling arts and crafts which are unique to Orca's. We picked up some lunch and enjoyed as the local band sweet music on the stage. A few folks and their kids got off the ground and started dancing. What a scene, as if it's out of a movie scene. It was truly magical.

Yelp
After a couple of wintertime visits to Orcas, I was really looking forward to a summer trip. That excitement was enhanced, even more than I would confess, by the prospects of seeing what the farmers market looks like here. Orcas has a long and rich agricultural history and I've seen plenty of farms and roadside farm stands that stood vacant in Decemeber. I was stoked for summer. Cue COVID.... Well, I'm happy to report that the market was still happening. I'm glad they didn't throw in the towel on it, though from what I'm told it was vastly different this year. Oh, you can imagine that in previous years there wasn't a mandatory handwashing station at the entrance. And I imagine there weren't dots on the ground to indicate where you should wait in order to approach each booth one party at a time. But more importantly, I'm told that the market, even though it's small and mighty in its biggest years, was only very teeny this year. There were probably 7-8 booths there, and that made for a quick visit. Still, we bought some flowers at one booth, and a bar of locally made soap at another, so we did our best to support the vendors who are making an effort despite the restrictions. I have nothing but love for a farmers market, and nothing but admiration for the participants. Though we were only here for a little bit, I'm glad we made it.

Yelp
Orcas Island is an incredibly charming place, so it makes sense that it would have a great farmers' market. I spent a weekend at the Doe Bay Resort, on another part of the island, but visited the downtown area for an afternoon with my husband and some of our friends. We ended up spending most of our time at the Orcas Island Farmers' Market, which seemed like the place to be on a Saturday afternoon. It was super fun and festive, a bunch of vendors set up on a wide green lawn, with tons of people out enjoying the various offerings and the lively atmosphere. We wandered around, browsing the crafts and food stalls. I ended up getting oysters--raw, grilled, and fried--from Local Goods and a Polynesian plate from Moa Grill. Some tasty, substantial gratuitous snacking. If you're on Orcas Island during a farmers' market Saturday, I'd definitely recommend stopping by for some food and people watching. It's a great way to experience the vibrant villagey feel of this lovely island.

Yelp
We really enjoyed the Saturday Farmers' Market on Orcas Island. Today (8/30), there were about 25 vendors, selling a variety of kitsch and food items. They say all offerings in the market are grown or crafted by Orcas Island farmers and artisans. I can really see how parking can be a challenge. Street side public restrooms were, well, public restrooms, serving not just the park, but local businesses as well. Our favorite vendor was the crèmecart, selling handmade ice cream sandwiches out of a colorful, retro-themed cart. Today, we enjoyed PBJ sandies: salty peanut butter cookies with blackberry ice cream! Delicious! Saturday Farmers' Market on Orcas Island -- Five Stars.

Yelp
The Farmer's Market on Orcas Island is really cute! It is located in the center of the village of Eastsound in a park called the Village Green. The market itself is fairly small but it is very charming nonetheless. There are several food vendors here and some very fine crafts and pottery with some other vendors. There are picnic tables in the park where you can sit and enjoy your food or just people watch. Not only is this market good for the kids as the park is nice and spacious but furry kids... dogs to be more specific are allowed here as well. The Farmer's Market starts the first weekend in May to the last weekend in September and is from 10 am to 3 pm every Saturday. The Farmer's Market is a great place to stop by not only for the locals but for visitors to the island during these months as well. I saw some very promising looking Chai Tea options here as well as hand poured Soy Candles. I know without a doubt I will be back to the sublime Orcas Island and hope to hit this market again and get some more candles... and a cold Chai wouldn't hurt either.

Yelp
Love the farmers Market. It's something I grew up with and it's always been a pleasing experience between the good food and the wonderful art with a dash of whatever else people decide to add !

Yelp
Nice farmers market with several food vendors. There are several picnic tables and the ledge of a stage available to sit on to eat food you buy there. Dogs are allowed and there was several. The public bathrooms nearby were nice to have available.

Yelp
Interesting local crafts and lunch options. Way over priced vegetables and fruit. Someone was selling a jar of tomato sauce for $18. Clearly tourists prices.

Yelp
If you find yourself on Orcas on a Saturday, go to the market and have yourself a lunch from the many fine stands. Korean? Check. El Salvador? Yup. Pork sandwich? Sure. Oysters? Fresh, grilled or pan-fried. We sampled pretty much everything and was amazed as to the quality of the food available.

Yelp
We had a great time at the Farmer's Market here. On Saturday's May thru October (I think). Starts at 10:00 a.m and ends at 2-ish. Local crafts and organic produce sold. Also several food carts. All looked delish! We got iced chai teas at the Harmony Chai booth that were refreshing and they also had almond milk so that was nice to have a choice between that and soy. We went with the falafel sandwiches which were savory and filling. $10 each, but we felt like it was a good deal for what we got. Service was friendly-just like the rest of Orcas! Live music and a large lawn like area so we had an impromptu picnic.
