This was by far the most amazing meal I have had in the United States! Everything is grown and harvested locally. The staff were so kind and welcoming, I felt like family! The family style dining gave a wonderful atmosphere to get to know other people and unity. The owners Chef Vincent(hunting during my visit) & Wine Maven Tyla Nattress, the waitstaff, the kitchen staff, including the Chef de Partie, Asher were all top notch skilled professionals at their craft! I highly recommend indulging in the Langley experience!(reservation only)

True farm to table! Amazing chef and staff. We had thanksgiving dinner at Orchard Kitchen and we couldnt have been happier with our decision! The meals are served as sharing plate between the 2 people and we sat in big tables with other diners. Its more banquet style where you get to interact with other guests! We loved our experience and cant wait to bring our family next time!

I don’t know who recommended Orchard Kitchen to me but I had it on my “must go” lists for a while. I had a beautiful occasion to celebrate with my husband so we decided to book a table. We spent a wonderful evening - I enjoyed the food, service and ambiance of this restaurant. The creativity of the chef and his team was beyond stunning. My husband and I left the restaurant with the same feeling - we felt like we ate with friends. Kudos to the whole Orchard Kitchen team and thank you for making our anniversary special.

We went for the summer solstice party and were blown away! The staff were very friendly and the tour made me want to pack my bags and move to a farm. One of the servers heard us speaking Spanish and asked us to practice her Spanish while we were there. She was lovely and very attentive the whole evening! Definitely recommending to everyone we know who is heading to Whidbey.

What a wonderful, unique and special way to celebrate an occasion. We have been for a birthday or anniversary and it always feels like such a treat. The thought and care that goes into the farm and the food created from it (or sourced locally) is unmistakable. We tend to buy a bottle rather than the associated flights but the wine options are incredible. It's so funto talk and meet with people from the island and all over in the shared table seating or my favorite -sitting at the counter watching the chefs work their magic. The staff is kind, accurately attentive, and fun. Would recommend this to anyone wanting a unique dining experience that feels very Whidbey luxe!

Spent a wonderful New Years with these folks. One of the most sublime food experiences ever. The flavors with each dish are extraordinary. The wine paring was perfect. Great service, friendly and attentive staff with a very relaxed and charming ambience. The other guests helped paint the experience as well, all lovely and intriguing people. Great time and memories made here.

Was I impressed, absolutely! Was I blown away, not quite. But would I go back, hell yes! This was a true farm to fork experience, they explained every ingredient, where it came from and why it played a special part of the meal. They impressively partner all up and down the island for local resources to stay true to the ideas and values they want to bring to life. Our only feedback was the wines came out too far in advance of the courses and they were not presented consistently or with the bottle so we could possibly go find them. Maybe it was a staffing thing, but we never felt they were rushed which was also nice, they had time to chit chat which we always love.

Food crafted with care and farm fresh ingredients. Great wines and excellent service. All in a rustic chic and peaceful setting. We cancelled our Willows Inn reservation after the NYT expose. The always excellent Inn at Langley suggested we try Orchard Kitchen instead. What a wonderful recommendation that made our celebration ever more memorable. Thank you to the chef and staff also for taking covid precautions seriously. Will be back soon.

Enjoyed dinner to celebrate my partner's Bday on 9/12/24. I have had many dinners like this. it didn't dissapoint. Serene, pretty setting , food was extremely well executed. Table setting was impeccable. Lovely people to converse with who were foodies. Dessert was not my favorite(ginger cake, with whipped cream, apples & cardamon ice cream). The cake ginger flavor to me was overpowering and I do like it. However the bday person loved it. It was a nice paced lovely evening. I recommend it and will be back.

We could not have asked for a better evening - great friends, beautiful PNW summer weather, dinner on the farm under the stars, and to top it off, a 5 star dinner from Chef Vincent and his team. We felt lucky to get in - off the wait list - and so thankful (dinner for 4 on 7/22/23). There is one seating each evening and the service was flawless while serving 40+ people at the same time. It is an intimate environment, easy to hold a conversation and you are surrounded by the farm. You will sit family style and most likely share a table unless you have a large enough group to fill the table. We shared a table with several friendly women gathering for their law school reunion. The food was beautiful, approachable and delicious. I find some pre-fix dinners to be a bit austere and over the top. The Orchard Kitchen has a found a nice balance of being special and delightful. The food was served at a nice pace - allowing you to enjoy the presentation, the flavors, and the discussion that follows each wave of culinary experience. We had several bites to start, three wave of food, a cheese plate and dessert. Wine can be purchased by the glass, bottle or the flight. They were also able to accommodate my shellfish allergy. Where to begin...we booked the chefs table on a Saturday evening and were greeted with a specialty cocktail that was amazing. We were seated at a table in a beautiful garden with a small group of other diners. The chef came out and explained the menu in great detail, and then service started. The food was fresh, creative, beautifully plated, and delicious. The service was impeccable. I'd recommend the wine flight as each glass was perfectly paired with the course being served. I highly recommend Orchard Kitchen and would make a special trip to Whidbey Island just to eat there!

Best place to sit at is the chefs counter where you get to watch the chefs at work. They had a local beet and carrot salad with grilled squash, lamb stew with their own bread and a dessert that tasted like a Dutch baby. I also got the cheese flight which was superb. It is best to go in a Thur when it is locals night so you get to try a three course menu than a 6-7 course. I also got the wine pairing and they were generous with the pours. It is a bit cold in there so bring your jacket.

This was our second visit here and both occassions were simply wonderful! The food could not be fresher or more inventive, we loved every single dish. Highlights included scallop tartare, duck confit tortellini, roasted radishes, and chicory salad. Wine pairings were also perfect. We sat at the chef's counter this time and really enjoyed watching them work; service was excellent! It's a cozy, lively space where you will need to be friendly with neighboring diners, which was totally OK by us. One thing to note is that the menu has really increased in size/length since our last visit ~1 year ago. Last time we left feeling full, but not overly so. This time there were many more small dishes and we were quite stuffed by the end- come hungry! We felt like 1-2 meat dishes at the end could have been dropped and it would have been perfect. I suspect someone complained about portion size (as someone always does) and they unfortunately responded by adding more and heavier dishes, rather unnecessarily. Still overall a fantastic experience, we can't wait to return!

I went with my mom and brother for my birthday dinner and it beyond exceeded my expectations. I have eaten at many bougie places in my life but this far exceeds the generic bland over sized portions you get at even the nicest of restaurants. The staff, ambiance and food were amazing. Everything was seasonally fresh, beautiful and thoughtfully created. I think there were like 9 courses and each was a treat. Wine pairings were perfect. Magical experience and absolutely worth every penny. We will be back!

My favorite part of our locals evening was the community dining. I thought it was good fun to meet and chat with other diners. The staff was great, but the food left me wanting. I'm sure it was as fresh as it could possibly be, but it frankly tasted boring. The best course was the salad because it was the only one with interesting flavor combinations. The main was just bland. Friends went a couple weeks later and raved about the food. I'll give it another try - maybe I was there on an off night. I'll return with expectations in check, though, as people have a tendency to LOVE in proportion to the price they paid, which is substantial at Orchard Kitchen.

When was the last time you sat down for an evening meal at a restaurant and said this one word after your meal? Wow! "Wow" was the reaction of a group of travel writers at a special extravaganza I was fortunate to attend in the Whidbey and Camano Islands back in 2018. Culinary Tourism is an important initiative in Island County, Washington, and indeed, in the entire Camano and Whidbey Island area of Northwest Washington. The farm-to-table industry is strong in this region and entrepreneurs in the region want you to know it. Chef Vincent Nattress at the Orchard Kitchen in Langley, Washington maintains close ties to local growers to ensure fresh and best-in-class ingredients are served to you as he prepares his homespun specialty dishes. Vincent will tell you he's a farmer as well as a chef. He bought the property on which the Orchard Kitchen now sits back in 2011. Much of the land was a pasture for 90-years with a rich loam suitable for growth. Many of the dishes he serves feature Radishes, Arugula, Garlic, Corn, Fava Beans, Peas, and other veggies straight from the gardens of his farm. As Vincent tells it, it's the crops from land that spur much of his inspiration for his farm-to-table homespun creations. The pictures and the captions below say it all. This place is a unique, one-of-a-kind, specialty eatery in the Whidbey-Camano Islands region. If you haven't been to the Whidbey-Camano Islands area, you're in for a treat. It is iconic and refreshing. And now you know of a 5-star place to eat: The Orchard Kitchen. Go and enjoy!

Excellent meal. Service is warm and inviting. Dinner party type setting, we've always enjoyed talking to our tablemates. Food is incredible and the fresh menus are always a delight. Love sitting in the gardens.

Went here for a group event. The service was excellent. Our waiters were so fun. The food was delicious and they even added two extra courses for us.

I've eaten at a variety of farm to table restaurants over the years and they have all done things slightly differently. Some have been horrible and others I would commute half-way across the world to revisit. This is one of the latter options. We were lucky to score a seating for their wine and dinner offering on a Friday at 6:00 pm. The meal took around 2-3 hours to complete and was easily top 5 meals I have eaten in the states. The location is small and there are not many spots, so advance reservations (potentially months in advance) are required. Each menu is prepared specifically for that day. Our menu involved multiple courses, paired with a different wine each time. The wines were hand picked and matched perfectly. As someone that is not normally a huge fan of red wines, the wine selected here was excellent and I enjoyed myself. The food was fresh, well prepared, and not too salty. The chef did give a small speech as food was being delivered on what you were eating and where it was from, but it wasn't overly long. It was polite, sufficient, and just enough to let you learn and enjoy your meal. The location was easy to find, parking was sufficient, service was amazing, they offered espresso at end of meal, etc. All the bells and whistles were there and it was well worth the price. We don't get to Whidbey often but for any future visit, we will make a point of returning.

My wife, son and I had dinner here this past Friday evening for Father's Day. We had high hopes for the evening. The venue is cool, the food is good but not great and the staff is very friendly. Why I am giving it a 2 rating is because of the crowded tables, excruciatingly noisy room, and the 4 hours it took to eat 6 courses. They advertise as a community table dining experience. The main room had 3 long dining tables (large enough for about 25 people) along with the entire kitchen. The problem was they ended up cramming 34 people along with the entire kitchen & service staff into this room designed to hold maybe 25+ people max. The result was a noise level that was unbearable. To make matters worse, you are sitting so close to your neighbor, of whom you don't know, that your bodies touched. Very uncomfortable! You really couldn't even carry on a normal conversation with people sitting next to you. Couple this with having to sit there for 4 hours to eat, we could not wait to get out of there. This experience did not come close to justifying the expensive price tag we paid. My suggestion to the owners is to eliminate the dining chaos by cutting 25% attendance in the dining room and speeding up the serving of the courses.

Maybe one of the best meals of my life. We booked the chef's table for a Thursday locals night in March 2023. The menu and food was amazing, the staff friendly and chef and team very engaging and warm. From the moment we arrived receiving a glass of sparkling wine, multiple delicious courses nicely explained to closing with a perfect dessert, Orchard Kitchen hit all high marks (even a great playlist of music). We will be back at the chefs table soon and you should make your RSVP now.

It's hard, when you're prone to nit-picking and snarky comments, as am I, to give glowing reviews. Don't look at me in that tone of face: I know I'm a jerk. A persnickety old former sous chef who has always been better at eating than cooking, but knows just enough about too many things to annoy everyone with his opinions. I know. That said: I'm hesitant to weigh in on Orchard Kitchen. First, I don't want everyone to go there and ruin it. Second, I've never experienced their store and product before the pandemic hit, so I haven't seen all they can do. So I'm telling you this, dear reader, because they are important enough in concept to support, and what they offer is of such quality, however limited by current events, to be of note to anyone that values great food; honest, genuine, authentic, organic, local, quality food. They are so good at what they do, we have changed our weekly shopping habits. We buy from them first. Their bread, warm and fresh, has rearranged our lives. The cultured butter is now a staple. We plot and scheme to acquire these things, every week. And you can find some of the best produce on the island at their farm stand, though I must warn you, it disappears quickly. Their homemade pork rillettes are exemplary. The spicy cheese spread is zingy and pleasing. The local wines, ciders and imported olive oil, chocolate, and other goodies are truly special and offered at reasonable prices. I cannot wait until they open their restaurant again. But until that day, their produce will find a place on my family's table, and I hope that when I break bread with friends on Whidbey Island, it will always be with the crusty, fragrant, toothsome sourdough fresh from their ovens. This was such a special experience. We were on Whidbey for the week and got lucky with a Saturday night reservation. The menu was so unique with every dish tasting fresh and like it was made with a lot of love and care. My favorites were the beautiful scallops with the most incredible dashi; the pork loin that tasted more beautiful and tender than any pork loin I've had to date; and the winter squash tart - that was so good we took home to finish (since we were full to bursting by that point). In addition, the service was great - so kind and accommodating. I also love that this place is a perfect nice night out but it doesn't feel at all stuffy. We ate in a barn and felt very close to the place where the food was grown and cooked. I can't wait to come back here.

I had been really wanting to try this restaurant for a while. The wait staff was attentive and lovely and it was clear they were making a significant effort. The concept of so many small dishes - I think i counted 12, of such carefully put together plates of such fresh produce, meats and seafood and them coming out over the course of 3 hours, was very enjoyable. However, at the end of the day, I only found 4-5 of the 12 small dishes to be truly spectacular in taste. I really wanted to love the food and had heard such amazing things about it but I did not find the preparation and taste of what was put together to be deserving of the reputation of the price. However I also feel they hire many local people and are running a farm so I can imagine they need the resources.

What an amazing dinner. The food and service were impeccable. The community seating was so fun and had a wonderful time with new friends. There were things on the evenings menu I would never order anywhere the braised lamb as I don't like lamb well after last night I love braised lamb it was simple and full of flavor I'm now converted to someone who can eat lamb when it's done this well. Such a wonderful evening the staff was great knowledgeable and so friendly. I'd put pictures up but we were enjoying the atmosphere and the conversation so much we hardly took the time for pictures.

I'm all for supporting the local guy with a vision...but not at these prices. There's probably a good family-style-in-the-woods-whose-menu-is-comprised-of-well-done-localized-classics restaurant to be had from the component parts --owners, site, local produce/provisions-- but this place, trying as it is to provide a high-end fine dining experience, can't seem to square its own circle. In the current incarnation, it's well-intentioned and idealistic, but messy and overpriced for what's currently happening here.

Hands down, the most amazingly creative restaurant on South Whidbey. Scratch cooking at its finest and the way it should be. Completely localvore fare, organic, passionately thoughtful dishes that are orchestrated with such loving care in execution, beautifully presented and unbelievably delicious. It's definitely an event dinner that is long and to be savored.

We had a lovely evening at Orchard Kitchen with excellent service and amazing Farm to Table food. We loved their garden grown and in house made fermented chili sauce, and my husband said it was the best pork chop of his life (I agree). The care and creativity shined through the food. The portions were perfect and spaced out nicely. I was happy to pay a 20% living wage service charge, plus an additional tip. Well worth it.

This was a very interesting experience where locals and tourists mix. We had last minute seatings for our reservations and sat with interesting people that were not from Whidbey Island. We are from Whidbey Island and totally enjoyed the unique and New concept that they have brought to Whidbey Island. Thanks we'll come back sometime

Best food in the United States. Service is always impeccable, and the ambiance is ever changing and always beautiful. We keep going back, as it is our favorite restaurant.

Fantastic food and excellent service!! This is hands down the best restaurant in Washington State

The intent is well-meaning and in the right place, and I respect that part of this place, using all locally-sourced ingredients and sitting in a nice space in community dining. It could make for a nice evening, but to have this nearly 4 hour marathon dinner be close to $500 for two people (including a few glasses of wine) was really just not worth it. Mainly because the food just isn't very flavorful or interesting, unfortunately. There's no cohesive vision here with the food other than just cobbling together dishes from what's seasonally around. Unfortunately it didn't make sense together or taste that great. Again, if this had been some cheaper place we would have been satisfied with it. Nothing was memorable, I'm sorry to say, except the ambiance and Willoughby the Cat. They should just serve fewer things, focus on them more intently, or even do a family style thing and it would justify the price tag more. I really wanted to love this and the chef and staff seem nice and well-intentioned, but it's all over the place culinarily, discombobulated, and just not that tasty at all. We had some duck mains that my partner and I couldn't even eat (and others around us were having trouble with it too) because it was so hard to eat, and mussels that were just bad. I started wondering if there was some weird cult Kool-Aid being drunk on Whidbey Island for everyone to rate it so highly. Seattle is really close so I know these people have had actual fine dining, they should know better. There were plenty of adequate items served and a couple decent ones even, and it's not terrible or anything, it's...fine. But just that. Sorry, I wish you all the best but you just gotta do better for the price. But hey, it's a local experience on Whidbey island, and maybe that's more what they're selling at the end of the day.

Having driven by this charming looking restaurant for several months, we were curious to check it out. A perfect spot for a special occasion dinner-- the two patio areas are surrounded by growing flowers and farmland. The multi course meal was exceptional, everything was tasty and I'll be remembering the miso sable fish and pork with romesco sauce for a long time. Great service and an excellent tip on a wine made it a perfect night. We were prepared for a chilly evening and even brought our own blanket, but luckily we didn't need it.

OMG! This place is a Hugh hit with us and not to be missed when visiting Whidbey Island be sure to make a reservation. This is a Garden to Fork Restaurant most of the ingredients come from the farm or is sourced locally. The Chief and Wine Matron are Fab! Check it out it's worth every dime.

No "wow" here for locals night. I do not give this review lightly, but only as constructive feedback. The space was cold and uninviting, the staff, while friendly, was underprepared and most of the food was pretentious and lacked flavor, seasoning or skilled preparedness. When you plan on a dinner that is suppose to deliver a unique experience, details matter - you are paying for those details and quality. So many details were not up to par. After being seated, we waited a long time before anyone came to our table to welcome us and inform us on what we could expect for the night ahead. We sat there, in the cold space, as we watched party after a party arrive and get their overview. A cold cube of head cheese with chunks of pickled carrot waiting before us as surprise taster. Not a great start to a meal with high expectations. Next up, the amuse bouche oyster, prepared warm and topped with very hard, cold stale breadcrumbs, cheese and pancetta bits. For the salad course we were served a deconstructed salad (micro greens, shaved carrot, baby radish, beets and flowers) that was pretty but the yogurt "dressing" plop on the plate was not seasoned and just added an off-putting sour taste to the already bitter greens. I give the two stars to the main course of beef buvette. This was the best part of the meal - Perfectly cooked and seasoned and served with brussel sprouts. The potatoes au gratin served in individual mini Dutch ovens were under seasoned and bland. We ordered the cheese course, and the selection of cheeses was lovely, but the walnut bread it was served with was burned. Finally, the dessert, was a hazelnut toffee brittle served with a scrambled egg crème fraîche mouse. Nothing is more off putting then having chunks of scrambled egg in what should be an airy and smooth mouse. I had such high hopes with all the great reviews, but the Orchard Kitchen did not meet our expectations or the hype.

We enjoyed the exquisite Farm-to-Table dinner here. Every bite was scrumptious and surprisingly flavorful. We ate in a lovely old barn and were cared for by a friendly and attentive staff. The meal was magnificent. Much if the food was grown on the farm, or in the immediate local area. The portions were generous. It couldn't have been a better experience. Great value for the cost. We would highly recommend this superb experience!

Words cannot describe! This place is the best. My mom and I came to Orchard Kitchen for Thanksgiving Dinner. Their feast was absolutely amazing. Best Thanksgiving dinner I've ever had. They had Heritage Birds which are a must try at least once. Everything was superb and top notch. The service was great, extremely friendly and small staff and you can watch the chefs cook! I'm excited to them for a regular meal. Don't miss out on eating here!!

A wonderful restaurant. We dined there for New Years Eve. The staff was both warm and professional. The atmosphere is both relaxing and refined. Not stuffy and pretentious. Each course was delicious and something that I would order if it weren't a fixed menu. Portions were generous. Wine pairings were well thought and wonderful. They're also generous with their pouring. Whidbey has several great restaurants. As a local, this was most true to the spirit of the island. Well thought out, generous, and casually refined. Oh. Their bread. It's fabulous. Rosemary olive. But, really. This is a super great place and you should treat yourself. Casual fine dining at its best. Love the communal seating. You might make a few new friends over dinner.

I sent my parents here for dinner when they were visiting in 2019. It was the highlight of their trip. Pricey but apparently amazing. Highly recommend.

My husband and I enjoyed the wonderful Orchard Kitchen! A communal table with amazing food, brought to the table in interesting and imaginative presentations. The food is as fresh as it can get with surprising and complimenting flavors and tastes. The wine pairings were just right to match the courses. The space was tasteful, fun, and festive. Tablemates getting to know one another, the attentive staff really enjoyed sharing their creations with us and making sure we had everything we needed to fully enjoy the event and our dinner. I had the Seared Alaskan Weathervane Scallops, Citruses, and Garden Cress followed by dessert. I would love to come back for a cooking class sometime!

Birthday celebration heaven for a foodie !! Every dish was phenomenal. I'll be back next summer for the outside long table experience

The night was beautiful, clear skies and a cool fall crispness in the air. We opened the door of Orchard Kitchen and we were welcomed by a very warm & friendly hostess. When we gave our names it was like we arrived home with such a greeting and escort to our seats. With an almost bird's eye view of the kitchen we ate the best starters with a glass of Prosecco. The rest was like a dream. Every plate that came and with each bite silenced us all from the shear delight of delicious, complex and most savory flavor blends. Our eyes rolled back and then glanced at each other with anticipation of what was to come next. That's how it went all the way to the end. If you choose not to experience Orchard Kitchen you'll be doing yourself a great disservice. It's a cry of ENCORE, from me!!! Bravo

We ordered a 4 course pick up meal tonight while vacationing here. My Husband is European and has foodie tasters. We arrived for pickup 40 minutes EARLY and were greeted with pleasantries and a chef bite. While I don't like beets, todays's offering was a toasted bread with a soft white cheese and pickled beets. I don't like vinegar or beets but ate this and didn't grumble. The res5 we took back to our house. We got the wine pairings. They need more wine training to understand the best pairing as the wine we bought to pair with the dinner, goes, but in my opinion, doesn't really accent each other like I have experienced with other pairings. We had a salad with a house vinaigrette (I don't like vinegar but actually enjoyed this - it tasted more like Italian than anything). We then had a pesto prosciutto gnocchi with Parmesan and walnuts. It was tasty. The cheese plate Star was the bread. Neither of us are brie fans, but ate these 3 soft-ish white cheeses. The star was those toasted bread pieces. Dessert was a blackberry cream compote. The cream lacked sweetness and didn't really match the crust, but we ate it. Please add course order, and an information sheet for cheeses so we know what we have. Overall, we did really enjoy the meal. My husband's comment on entire offering was that "these are my people". This is not an easily attainable claim. We ordered another pickup because we liked the concept so much. Their food is well made, and fresh farm to table. I'd love to see them get more creative with their dishes. Stop playing it safe.

A very cool restaurant, I've eaten here several times. The food is always delicious and it is fun to try all their small appetizers. I had thanksgiving here one year and it was a very special experience.

Wow. I don't even know where to begin. Farm to table food that is top notch. It's pricy, but worth every penny. There were several hors d'œuvres that we're the size of an amuse bouche to tickle your tongue while you drink champagne (if you got the wine pairing). The salad and entree were amazing and the wine pairing was top notch. The wine with the cheese pairing wasn't my favorite but that could be a personal preference. The champagne, white, rose and red wine were all amazing. The rose exceeded expectations. If we come back to Whidbey we'll definitely be visiting again!

Each course was wonderful, the atmosphere was so convivial and beautiful, and the tour of the farm was very special. I planned a surprise mini getaway for my husband's birthday which included dinner at Orchard Kitchen. This place is awesome, the food is absolutely delicious and the experience itself was just so cool. Worth every pretty penny!

If you are visiting Whidbey Island- Orchard Kitchen should be your FIRST PRIORITY. I would give this location 6 stars if I could. This is one of the only restaurants I would break being vegetarian for. **disclaimer** The review below may not do this restaurant justice, however I will try my best to capture the magic and complexity that was given to me during my dining experience. Orchard Kitchen is sort of like "family style fine dining"-- if one of the most CREATIVE chefs on the West Coast happens to be your friend and invites you and a few of his really cool friends into his warm, open, clean, kitchen to cook you a 4 course all-star meal (with wine pairings if desired). You could tell the chef, Vince, was having a blast talking with his guests about what brought them to the island and getting their feedback on the courses they were experiencing. We sat at the kitchen counter right across from Vince's work space, which teaches you a ton about how these beautiful dishes come together before they reach your plate. The courses we experienced: *all courses were made with LOCAL ingredients from the island as much as possible* The carrot soup with crispy carrot strings--so comforting and lively Smoked mussels and scallops-- like sea bacon. Seriously, they were so light and yet so decadent at the same time. White bean cassoulet with pork belly and duck confit. Oh. My. Goodness. The highlight of the evening. Very rich, incredibly satisfying, absolutely delicious. A real treat; and some of the other guests took the cassoulet home to serve with eggs the next morning. Yum! A winter fool (sort of like a bread pudding) with candied kumquats, huckleberries, and creme patisserie, which was amazingly soft and satisfying. And on top of all this, Tyla (Vince's wife and co-founder of Orchard Kitchen) brought us little mini-bites of deep-fried risotto, greens wrapped in daikon radishes, and brûléed chocolate ganache bullets which were divine. We all had food comas and slept like rocks that night. They also offer cooking classes most weekends if that's your thing. Foodies and non-foodies alike should absolutely make a reservation if you know you'll be visiting South Whidbey.

Have you ever been invited to your brilliant friend, the chef's house for a life changing meal? You sit in his house and watch him and his staff create a masterpiece from the things in the garden and from local producers of amazing cheeses and meats. You are spoiled by talented servers, giving the perfect amount of attention to every detail of your experience. You are left wanting more of everything, and yet completely satisfied at the same time? You witness a husband and wife living a creative genius dream. Well, it's like that to dine here.

If I could give it 6 stars, I would. The setting is rustic and lovely. A simple building on a farm on Whidbey Island. The interior of the restaurant is clean, warm and open. There are 3 long tables on one side; a kitchen with 6 bar seats at the chef's table. The servers took drink orders and started passing out appetizers. One of the chefs had just returned from Israel so they featured spices she brought back. The head chef welcomed everyone then went over the menu. Service is family style and in 4 courses. It was appropriately paced and the servers did a stellar job. The ingredients used in the dishes are top notch. Local greens, local cheese, local bacon, local rabbit, etc etc. we unanimously loved 3 out of 4 courses. There were mixed feelings about 1 course (rabbit porchetta w/ citrus served with offal), but it was the most adventurous part. Yes, its expensive. But I found it be priced fairly for the overall quality of the dining experience. We loved it and will definitely return. I'd highly recommended this for any special occasion. Call well in advance to make reservations--I believe we only counted 38 seats.

This dinner was a complete pleasure! The atmosphere is warm, friendly and inviting. My friend and I sat at a large table with 7 others who became friends over the course of the evening. We had previously requested gluten and dairy free which they were happy to provide. The service was unpretentious and high quality. The food was delicious, fresh and creative. I will come back on my next trip to this lovely island! Thanks to all who created this lovely evening!

A must! Delicious dinner and experience at Orchard Kitchen. "Localvore" fresh farm to table food expertly cooked by Chef Vincent Natress. Wine pairings by Tyla Natress are spot on. Delightful cozy ambience with view to the kitchen. Intersting friendly people at family style seating. It's all about food, cooking and eating with joy.

We did their take home meal last night and it was fantastic. Loved the braised short ribs and horseradish mashed potatoes. The pasta with local pork, shallots, capers and herbs was even better. Fresh, high quality ingredients. A true Farm to Table Whidbey experience.

I don't expect to pay $130 for dinner for two, and still be pretty much as hungry when I'm done as I was when I started. Serving the salad and entree "family style" is no excuse for turning out appetizer-size (at best) portions. For the record, I was told it was "family style" because I called, concerned they may have forgotten our second dinner. Food, what there was if it, was fine -- but not nearly worth how much we paid for what we got. I get to Whidbey Island all the time, but I won't be going back here.

This restaurant is really cool and they do cooking classes. They bring out like a bunch of really small appetizers that end up being really filling. The food is great quality and the people are very nice. However some of their foods are a bit strange like beet soup and I wasn't a huge fan, but overall really good.
