Orchid Thai Cuisine

Some meals impress in the moment; others endure. Orchid Thai Cuisine belongs firmly to the latter. I waited six months before committing these thoughts to paper, allowing time to dull the memory if it could. It did not. My opinion has remained unwavering. I award five stars sparingly, and this restaurant earns every one. What distinguishes Orchid is not a single dish, but a standard that holds across the table. Every guest I have brought has shared the same reaction, regardless of what they ordered. From crab fried rice to basil duck, from pad thai to a range of appetizers, each plate carried the same clarity of flavor and precision of execution. There were no weak links, no safe choices—only confidence. The owners and chefs are Thai, and they bring themselves fully to the restaurant each evening. That presence is felt. Orchid often operates at full booking, and it is easy to understand why. This is a kitchen rooted in authenticity, where ingredients are not placeholders but essential voices in the composition. They source locally where possible, holding themselves to standards that prioritize quality and integrity. This is not a place of shortcuts. You will not find a Sysco truck idling outside. Everything is handmade, and the textures alone speak to the care behind each dish. Thai cuisine is as much about mouthfeel as it is about flavor, and here that philosophy is honored. Crisp gives way to tender, sauces cling without heaviness, and each bite carries the structure the dish intends. The food is deeply aromatic, engaging the senses before it ever reaches the palate. The basil duck, in particular, stands out—the light, delicate crisp of each basil leaf providing contrast to the richness beneath, a detail that lingers long after the plate is cleared. I have spent meaningful time in Thailand, and until Orchid, I had found most Thai food in the United States merely “fine.” Competent, sometimes pleasant, but rarely transporting. Orchid changed that. This is the first place that brought me back—not just in flavor, but in spirit. It feels true. I tried to find a flaw. I could not. Not in seasoning, not in balance, not in execution, not in hospitality. Months later, that search remains unsuccessful. If you have not been to Orchid Thai Cuisine, go. Do not wait. Experiences like this are rare, and they deserve to be sought out. My rating: ★★★★★ 1 star — I will never return. 2 stars — If nearby, I might return, but without urgency. 3 stars — Worth a visit if in the area, though not a destination in itself. 4 stars — Worth going out of your way to enjoy. 5 stars — I would fly around the world for this meal.

Love orchid Thai ! Truly a quaint spot, especially sitting on the patio area, with real orchids at every table. Have had the yellow and Penang curry before - both delicious. Enjoyed green curry tonight with papaya salad and pad woonsen! 10/10 recommend (:

We stopped in at the Orchid Thai restaurant after visiting the Morris Tiffany museum located in historic Winterpark. We had the appetizer sampler. It was was very good. Nice variety. Service was excellent. For entries we went with the Pararam Chicken and Traditional PadThai both in medium spice level. This spice level was perfect for our Texas palates. Just zippy enough to be interesting. Both dishes were tasty. It was so glorious fall day so we sat outside. Highly recommend.

I’ve dined here several times over the last three years, enjoying the whole fried snapper and the mussels. My husband and I had a late lunch there yesterday. It was a little too cool to dine on the nice front sidewalk patio area so we ate inside as I have before that was a mistake because the room temperature felt like it was 60° thanks to very efficient air-conditioning even though the front door was open to the ambience temperature which was probably about 70. I had the muscles which were beautifully presented; however, a significant number were undercooked and or bad because they were slimy yucky, which I realized, after trying one, and then more carefully looking at those to follow. They were also cold, although they weren’t advertise, nor did I have them previously as a cold Shared appetizer. The accompanying shrimp toast was very good as it has been in the past. The sticky rice side dish was cold. My husband‘s garlic shrimp was good except she wasn’t expecting that they were whole, large shrimp with the tail on so he had difficulties – – we are seniors – – eating them because he had to manage with his poor kid knife. He said the carrots were good and soft. The broccoli presented some problems and his Traditional rice was Room temperature at best. Service was efficient and courteous. I will not return.

Brandon was our server and he was great, very efficient, very kind and informative. We wanted for nothing. The food was delicious, we had the spring rolls, I had the red curry (it was outstanding) and my husband had the drunken noodles - we both enjoy drunken noodles typically but both enjoyed the curry more. Love the cucumber in the water, very refreshing, and different.

Wow! I found out today I love Thai Cuisine! I tried the Dumplings and the Drunken Noodles and both were perfect! The portion sizes are great! I got to take it a bit home as leftovers. Anyone can eat here, including vegans, they’re willing to modify the meat with tofu or veggies

Are you looking for a treat for your taste buds? If so, look no further; Thai Orchid will leave you tongue tied as you try to explore every color on their taste palette. Try the drunken noodles or maybe their dumplings, everything here is worth sampling. Located in the heart of downtown winter park you can dine outside while shoppers pass you by. Enjoy the view and food and then maybe take a stroll yourself and explore the surrounding shops and other amenities. 10/10

Went to Orchid Thai for a late lunch with a friend and was pleasantly surprised. Our experience didn’t start great we had to ask for our table to be cleaned I think the server was upset. Thankfully we had an other server take care of us. She was ok. We opted to sit outside which was okay we had the pineapple fried rice, yellow curry and chicken pad Thai. The pad Thai was deeelicious! The curry was great filled with lots of veggies and heat (my fried opted for the Thai hot 🔥🔥🔥that’s how she likes it. The pineapple fried rich was delicious filled with raisins cashews and pineapple and served in a 1/2 of a pineapple. If you are on Park Ave in Winter Park stop by grab a meal - I’ll be back and I already know what I plan on ordering.

Orchid Thai Cuisine is hands down one of my favorite go-to spots for Thai food in the Orlando area. From the moment you walk in, the warm, inviting atmosphere sets the tone for an amazing dining experience. The dishes are consistently flavorful, authentic, and crafted with so much care--it's evident in every bite. My all-time favorite is the Chicken Massaman Curry, which is rich, perfectly spiced, and incredibly satisfying. The sampler platter is another standout, offering a variety of tasty bites that showcase the depth of their menu. What truly sets Orchid Thai apart is their impeccable service. The staff are attentive, friendly, and go out of their way to ensure a memorable experience. Whether you're dining in or grabbing takeout, you can always count on exceptional quality and a meal made with love. It's a spot I recommend to anyone craving authentic Thai cuisine!

Cute spot on Park Ave. The service is always consistent and the food is pretty good! I love the curry puffs and the red curry! Not a huge fan of the pad thai.

We have visited Orchid Thai in Winter Park several times and absolutely enjoy their pineapple fried rice and yellow Thai curry. Each dish is intensely seasoned and bursting with flavor. I especially love the addition of sweet potato in the curry it's amazing. Every visit, the waitstaff has been wonderful, offering new suggestions and ensuring our drinks are always refilled and that we have everything we need to enjoy our meal. Orchid Thai is a small place on Park Avenue, so parking can be a bit challenging depending on the day of the week. However, it's definitely worth the effort. It's a delightful hole-in-the-wall spot, and we will definitely be returning.

Whenever I'm in Winter Park and I have the availability, Orchid is my go-to for great Thai. Sadly this isn't as often as I'd like (my husband would agree) but it is such a *treat* when we visit! It's a small spot on Park Avenue (you can make reservations!) but has a great patio out front and some bar seating inside, too. It's not at all stuffy and it's truly an authentic place with great food and service. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu - I promise. I'm a big curry fan and always get mine medium spice (you can always add, you can't take away) and extra tofu or vegetables. Hubby loves the Pad Thai or Panang Curry with beef - soooo good. I love getting the Orchid Sampler if we have a dinner party; you get all the prime appetizers to try and it's a decent size, too. A cup of coconut soup for a start is super comforting, too.

Service & atmosphere are nice, but not my go-to Thai place! I have been to Orchid Thai twice over the past year. I think that this is a nice date spot because it's quiet, it's small, and the lighting is dim. Personally, I'm not crazy about the food. I have not had any negative experiences or bad tasting food, it's just not my favorite Thai place to go to. During both of my visits, I was with at least one other person, and I believe that they enjoyed their food. If you're interested in Thai food, I would suggest giving this place a chance.

I came here with some friends for a late night goodbye dinner. It is some place they frequently eat. My one friend recommended to my sister to get her favorite pad Thai. I hate to say it but I found the pad Thai to be very bland! I'm not sure if it was just an off night but even my sister agreed with me. On the other hand, I had the massaman curry and it was delicious! It's my favorite type of curry and they nailed it! The only downside is that I asked for medium spice and I really couldn't taste much, I wanted a kick but didn't want it to overwhelm the curry. I probably should have asked for it hotter on hindsight. Overall, it's a little pricey being on park ave but the quality seems to be there. I can imagine myself visiting again for the curry.

In retrospect, I spent more time in the Winter Park neighborhood than I realized, which is fine since during my recent brief stay in Orlando, I found the rest of the city to be very "corporate." Not totally a surprise since the behemoth conglomerate that is the Disney corporation is located here. But it seemed to be that much of the cuisine had the theme of "non-offensive" and "bland" trying to appeal to a wide audience. Orchid restaurant is a small-ish Thai joint located off Park Avenue, and we stopped by since there was available outdoor seating. Unlike other reviewers, my local friends and I had GREAT service from our server, Ace. She was extremely helpful with suggestions and was always checking in on us during our meal. Humorously enough, when she asked if we wanted our food to be "American" spicy or "Thai spicy," the three of us enthusiastically replied "Thai spicy!!!" However, when the food arrived, it was not Thai Spicy. My noodles on my drunken noodles were plentiful and had nice chew, but the chicken was a bit overcooked and on the dry side. Sauce was alright but tasted more like dark soy sauce with hardly any fish sauce flavor. Perhaps the biggest disappointment was the lack of spice and heat. I found a few chopped up bird eye's chilis, but I had to ask for the supplemental spice tray to add more chili powder and some sriracha. The tofu curry was the best thing we ate. Stir fryed cubes of tofu were mixed in sugar snap peas, baby corn, mushrooms, bell peppers, and onions. The curry sauce had a deep rich flavor, and we could actually taste the spice in this dish. Slather some of the sauce atop of the accompanying white rice, and it was a satisfying dish. All in all, not a bad experience, but also nothing stellar. It was nice to sit outside enjoying the typical sunny 75-degree temps in Florida while dining al fresco.

Attended a business lunch at Orchid. The restaurant started off with a great best practice, cold water with cucumber. Great touch. I had the shrimp with a garlic sauce with broccoli and carrots. Excellent!! My colleague enjoyed the red curry shrimp. Enjoyed that dish as well. Great outdoor seating along Park Ave. perfect weather and outdoor lunch and meeting. The quaint restaurant had a great atmosphere. Server was attentive.

We were costumers of this restaurant for over 15 years. Today was totally lousy and unprofessional . After our waiter told us that manager is not here we asked to call Manager Richard . We always order the chicken curry Panang which has a wonderful lime and lemongrass flavor.. We explained that the food we ordered today had two main ingredients missing , which showed on menu. we alerted waiter which was very gracious about it and he called Richard the manager. Unfortunately Richard was rude and td us we should have told him at beginning of eating and he declined to discount or comp us this dish ($18) We are very dissatisfied with this unprofessional response and will now stop recommending this place to our clients and we also will stop coming here. Richard needs to learn how to treat loyal costumers better.

Absolutely LOVE Orchid Thai! I've been here two times now, both on weekend evenings. Each time service has been attentive, and the food delicious. My friend and I recently made a reservation here for a chill birthday dinner, and it didn't disappoint. All of our food was incredible, and the portions are really great sizes for the price. My friend isn't big on Thai food, but she said the lime? basil rice she had was good! Recommend giving this spot a try- could make for a good date night or more lowkey dinner. The interior is a bit small, so if you plan to bring a larger party I'd give them a call ahead of time to try and snag a reservation.

I love sitting having an early dinner here! Sitting out on park AVE and people watching! The dishes are fantastic! We ordered the ginger chicken and the red curry with tofu! And a fabulous Thai Tea! Love the staff here!

I ordered panang curry and papaya salad, both items were amazing and full of flavors. Service is warm and attentive, enhancing the cozy ambience!

Service was excellent. Gave us a water dish for our dog. Food was delicious! Great presentation and amazing flavor! We got the summer spring rolls and fried cream cheese things. Delicious starters! For dinner we had the special of pineapple fried rice. So good we couldn't stop eating it! And the Penang Curry was spiced super nice. Also recommend the peach/plum saki.

Would give a five but there's always room for improvements right. Wonderful meal great service. Definitely will be back. Could be our favorite spot going forward. Keep up the great service. Much success.

Located across from Rollings college in that cute shop district. The food was delicious, kind of pricey. Customer service excellent. Would definitely come back this time to dine in. U can also sit outside. Very good

A nice little local restaurant with delicious food. We ordered the chicken satay, golden purses, massaman curry and panang curry (not pictured) as we forgot and just dug straight into it. The curries were flavourful but it wasn't spicy at all. I'm surprised they didn't offer spice levels to go with the curry as usually it would have somewhat of a kick to it. There wasn't any issue with getting a seat, but we were slightly early for dinner. It did pick up later on. Our server was slightly rude and impatient.. I'm not sure why or what her issue was that day, that's my only reason for the one star deduction.

One of the first restaurants we went to after restaurants started to open back up for seating several months ago. Been here several times and we always enjoy the outdoor seating especially when the weather was so nice this past Halloween weekend when we had the privilege of dining in once again. This is my favorite soup and salad combo. Not pictured:( is the Tom Kha soup that I devoured in about 2 minutes because I was so hungry. I am a big fan of soup and this hit the spot. Had it with chicken and added some of the dry chilies to make it spicy. Then to the salad. The Som Tum salad was extremely satisfying. I added shrimp that was perfectly cooked and seasoned. And of course, I added dry chilies to the dish to make it extra spicy. It is salty, tangy, and super fresh. The textures of the freshly shredded papaya, chopped green beans and the crushed peanuts sprinkled all over worked so well together to make every bite full of flavor. The prices line dressing pulled the whole thing together. I actually had this soup and salad on Saturday and then again today for a late lunch:)

Our first visit today for all 8 of us (ladies lunch), most of which are not familiar with Thai food. We loved the restaurant & we liked our food. But! Best of all?? Was our fun, charming, funny, personable waiter JOHN!! Is he a sweetheart or What? ! Thanks John for a most memorable lunch party. (heart)

My husband and I eat here often. We also order takeout on a fairly regular basis. A few of our favorites are the shrimp summer rolls, ginger chicken, and any curry dish really. They've got beautiful salads and a great selection wine too.

Sue and her team at Orchid Thai are such great and welcoming hosts. We frequent their Winter Park location and often sit outside because it's one of the nicer and shaded outdoor dining spots on Park Avenue, and obviously because of the food. :) Our go-to meal is the Chicken Pineapple Fried Rice inside a pineapple . It'll look massive but I promise you can eat it in one sitting if you skip the appetizers. I usually get it with medium spice and my husband gets mild. Another bonus that we recently discovered is that this location has a bar inside! Go check them out for some delicious Thai. You won't be disappointed!

So glad we stopped here for dinner. We sat outside and it was a little chilly so our waiter turned on a space heater which made it SO NICE to sit outside. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Our waiter, Thomas, was so nice and attentive. Food came out quickly. I ate it so fast that I couldn't even take picture but the pad Thai was delicious.

Another 5 star meal today! Thai is our favorite cuisine and we're so lucky to have a total of six excellent Thai restaurants within two miles of our house. While they are all very good and highly rated, in my opinion, the Thai Orchid's curries are the best of all six! We are regulars who have been enjoying Thai meals at the Thai Orchid for many years. Service has always been excellent, and John is amazing and attentive! Plus you have the benefit of dining on the avenue in downtown Winter Park! There are so many really good restaurant choices in downtown Winter Park with a variety of cuisines, but Thai orchid is our favorite and most visited.

Came here late one night and was seated immediately. Loved their coconut sticky rice! Drunken noodles were good and had enough for left overs.

Nice place with friendly atmosphere. Another high energy place with happiness in the air. Fast service. The staff can handle the high traffic and demand for dining on a busy night. Warm welcome. Tasty food. Lots of outdoor seating. Prices are a little high, but that is understandable in the area.

Ordered yellow curry with chicken, orchid salad, and spring rolls to-go and everything was delicious. The rolls were crispy and fresh with a tangy dipping sauce that was so good. The yellow curry was rich, creamy, flavorful and the portion was huge with tons of veggies and plenty of chicken. I lovedtheir peanut dressing that came with the salad as well. Can't wait to try more menu items in the future.

So so, the owner is very rude. The food is okay but none authentic. I know they are reusing bamboo leaves in the past...don't know about it now so I tend to rip it to avoid that happen.

Food is fine. Service sucks and takeout is risky. We get takeout all the time, this is the only restaurant that requires a CC when you order. Last time I called to place an order it took 15 mins because the person taking the order could not get the credit card machine to work. After the 3rd try, and putting me on hold several times, they got it to work. They also apparently never get takeout themselves. If they did they might come to the conclusion that having tall narrow bags with soup and curry stacked vertically is stupid. No fun having a curry and soup swimming pool on the floor of my car. I put up with the bags and just unpacked the order before I drove home but after the last call fiasco we are going to explore other Thai options in the area.

By far inferior to the Lake Mary location. I was seated next to the door, and both the table and the chair were rickety and unstable. The restaurant was basically empty but the small tables same size as mine were unavailable for me, because the restraurant put 4 chairs around those. The service was slow, indifferent and barebones. The food was OK.

Our experience wasn't great at Orchid. Our waiter was very nervous for some reason and forgot a couple items on our order. We got our good one hour after sitting down. The drunken noodles were not good. Drenched in soy sauce. The pineapple fried rice we asked for no raisins but got raisins in it. The red curry with chicken was good and tasty. Could have used more sauce though. Overall it was not good.

Excellent Thai restaurant! Mieng Kum app is small but so tasty and refreshing, I would eat it everyday, every meal! Great Pad Thai and whole snapper was also a great choice. Ambiance is quaint and romantic, with perfect low key lighting. White table clothes add to experience, just a great choice for dinner all the way around.

Had dinner last night ordered pad Thai and the pineapple fried rice. Pad Thai was outstanding. Pineapple fried rice is sweet so consider that when choosing it. Overall excellent dinner and the staff was very friendly

We came to Orlando to visit family so of course we also included a date night option because family = free childcare! My husband is a vegetarian so we tend to pick Asian cuisine the most because they always have multiple options for him to choose from. We decided to head to Winter Park and walk the strip at Park Ave and see what our options would be. We stumbled upon the cutest restaurant that had outdoor seating and we decided to give it a go. The restaurant looked pretty full inside and there was only one table left for outdoor dining (but it was reserved). To our pleasant surprised the host accommodated us and we were seated shortly after taking our names. We had the best server, her name is Joy. Ask for her if you want a knowledgeable and kind waitress. We dined on: Vegetable spring rolls Whole Red snapper Vegetable green curry With a bottle of Riesling to wash it down! Overall our entire experience was wonderful, the food tasted great, our service was too notch so of course we will be back.

I took many videos instead of pictures, but I've tried pretty much of everything on the menu and EVERYTHING is so GOOD!

Delicious. Thai Beef Salad was incredible and light. The house made dressing was so unique and tasty.

Summer roll with shrimp, PEI mussels, and ginger chicken were all delicious. Service was great, and sitting outside on a beautiful day can't be beat!

We went on a Saturday evening and waited 1.5 hours for our food. The waiter brought us some rice with peanut sauce because he forgot to put our order in. Unfortunately, it got worse from there and we continued to wait for our meal. There was no management at the restaurant to help the situation. Our waiter went missing and a few times we were frozen not sure what we should even do. Again, 1.5 hours. I am sad to share this review, but hope no one else experiences what we did.

I Love Thai food. I had the Pad Thai, asked for less oil, which is used to keep the noodles for clumping, but I prefer less oil, makes the noodles clump a bit, but the sauce is so delicious and the extra lime I ask for gives it that extra bit of moisture. I also ordered the Shrimp Summer rolls. They were good! BUT, it was the service that was awesome. Alyona, new to Orchid, was sweet, kind and accommodated all of my requests, asked when she didn't know something, and practically read my mind when I needed something. I sat outdoors, on a lovely afternoon, on Park Ave. Alyona helped to made a good meal, a great meal. Ask for Alyona next time you want lovely Thai food in WinterPark.

I recently found my love for Thai food and sometimes it's difficult to find places that have fresh tasting dishes. This place is amazing. We went to lunch and got the lunch specials and it was such a bang for your buck. The medium heat was HOT though but the curry options were so delicious.

Great food but watch the wine prices advertised / great meal but a little disappointed in not honoring advertised wine price please update your table placards

Always a wonderful experience! Love to eat outside and people watch. Wait staff is always friendly and food is always delicious. Lunch options are very budget friendly and filling! We always have the spring rolls to start, yum! Did you know the owner grows the orchids? We had the pleasant opportunity to meet her.

The chicken pad Thai and Golden Purses are phenomenal here! The restaurant itself is a pretty theme and food does not disappoint. I have gotten their pad Thai every time because I can't bring myself to try anything else, it's already so perfect!

It was pretty good. Chopsticks are not readily available for those of you going for "that" kind of experience. It's a nice and classy place. Dimly lit, clean and moderately decorated. Good for a date or fancier hangout. I suppose some things are rather (substantially) expensive for what it is. This place is in Winter Park after all. I don't personally recommend the Drunken Noodles. I actually regret getting it. I do however recommend the yellow curry. The Pad Thai is alright but it's expensive for what it is. Overall I suppose it's worth a visit for a good date or special occasion but by no means a place to frequent often.
