Oregon Culinary Institute

Oregon Culinary Institute is located in the SW part of Portland, Oregon. There they have a student restaurant where students in their final few classes have a chance to really test out their skills and make food for the guests who have come to eat. I attended OCI back in 2014 for Baking & Pastry. The class was fantastic and the courses were delicious. You get to spend a lot of time just doing hands on stuff instead of just theory which is amazing for anyone who learns by doing rather than reading. I would recommend the six month course if you’re interested in doing restaurant work. If you’re interested in working in a bakery though- just go talk to a bakery and see if you can get a job.

Easily one of the best prices for a multi course dining experience. The open kitchen is beautiful and it's fun to watch the people behind the line do their thing. Did I mention everything is delicious?

Going to OCI was the greatest decision I've ever made!! I am forever thankful for the amazing people I met, the best instructors in the world and the passion for this industry that we all share. If you want to go to a culinary school, choose OCI!!

Probably one of the most fantastic hidden gems in Portland, one of the most fantastic meals for the price and you get to share in a learning experience with the students who cook and wait on tables! Great service and great food!

I hope I have the right place, came up on a bus from Salem 50+Center, OMG, everything was delicious!!! First time for beet tartare for me, I WANT MORE!!! Everything was delicious, I want more!!!!

I took my advanced students for a field trip and was VERY disappointed as were my students. Every question that we asked was answered with, "It's on the website." Not helpful at all. My students left telling me that they would NEVER go to this Culinary school. Super sad for my students.
