"Square-cut tavern pizza is a Midwestern imperative, and everyone has their favorite local spot. Ask many Daytonians, and they’ll likely send you to this Oregon District bar, often filled with live music or the sounds of sports on the TVs. Pick a favorite like the Italian Special or Hot Hawaiian, or let the table argue over toppings. No matter how you play it, everyone will be fighting over the crispy edge pieces." - David Nilsen

Google
Great food, great service, newish ownership. Great value for lunch and dinner. Staff is friendly and attentive. Happy hour from 4-7.... Nice discounts on food and drinks. I usually only have lunch here, but I've heard night life offers good live music as well. Highly recommended.... Thanks O.E. staff!!

Google
Great little dark bar with great pizza. Had the buffalo chicken pizza and it was great. Get ready for some ranch dressing and hot sauce!

Randy Knox

Google
Really cool rooftop view. Fantastic pizza, especially some of the unique monthly special pizzas. Good karaoke on Tuesday nights

Nico Kinner

Google
A wonderful place all around. I stayed in the front, but there was plenty of other sit-down dining further back, and they also hast live venues sometimes. The food is made to order and is absolutely delicious. The drink variety is great and is continually expanding. The service was efficient and friendly and the cost was much cheaper than I expected.

Google
This split wall bar/music room has been a staple in Dayton's Oregon District. They make great tavern style pizza, have a good selection of beverages, and are a great place to catch local bands. Nothing fancy, but they're never less than solid when it comes to quality and service.

Michelle Shrewsbury

Google
My husband and I are in town for business and stopped in here for a quick lunch. We ordered a house salad and the large Sriracha pizza both were very good! The salad was fresh & the pizza was loaded up! One of the best we've ever had & HUGE!!! We had enough for lunch the next day as well :)

A&B ASMR

Google

Google
The pizza was fantastic! My wife works in Dayton and I was getting the pizzas before I picked her up from work. It was definitely off peak hours, but it gave me a few minutes to appreciate the atmosphere.

Amanda S.

Yelp
One of my fave spots in the Oregon district to catch a live show. Their pizza is awesome too and they have great drink deals during the week. Always love the vibes here.

Jessica W.

Yelp
LOVE LOVE LOVE the gluten free pizza crust. I can honestly say it's the best in town. Super awesome folks in a chill atmosphere, this is the place to wind down. Check out the rooftop patio when the weather is nice.

Ted S.

Yelp
Downtown town vibes with downtown energy! Experience the essence of Dayton with the lively atmosphere it offers. I strongly suggest trying the pretzels topped with Swiss cheese dipped in honey mustard, and don't miss out on the OE pizza on its crispy crunchy thin crust if it's your first visit to the pizzeria. The old fashioned and tap beers are a good pairing to liven things up. Enjoy live music on Friday nights in a space that's bustling yet not too packed. It's a fantastic option for a city night out! #GoBills

Yelp
Went on a Wednesday Jared and the owner were really cool. They serve NA beer which is something I enjoy in my sober time. But also great food and great service.

Ami D.

Yelp
The quality of the food has unfortunately declined. I recently ordered a crispy pizza, but it arrived undercooked as in got pulled to soon out of the oven. I also got an artichoke sub, which used to be a favorite of mine, but the bread has changed and it was overcooked to the point of turning into powder when you bit into it and the filling was sparse. It's disappointing, and it's not worth it.

Stu F.

Yelp
Thin crust with a crunch even loaded with 7 toppings. Great flavor and the combination of ingredients blends perfectly. A definite winner and bookmarked for a regular stop when in town. One of those times when the expectation is set from the prior reviews and it is better than that. The saltiness of the green olives combined with the slight sweetness of the banana peppers is really good

Dave S.

Yelp
I give it 3 stars only cause I have so many good memories there and its been around for a while. Really cool bar. But, it seems like it has gone a little downhill. Pizza tonight was not that good. Very forgettable and my wife's Long Island was 80% lemonade. My draft beer was cold and good. Glad Ive heard they have brought live music back but havent experienced that yet.

Ashley P.

Yelp
New owners should seriously talk to the staff who have been there forever. The food used to be good. Pizza tonight was overcooked. They changed the pretzels. They basically broke the OE. If you haven't been in since the change, get some drinks. Skip the food. You will be sad.

B M.

Yelp
It seems that changing ownership has been a detriment to the level of quality offered. I've been an infrequent regular for many years enjoying having a beer, sandwich or pizza here about twice a week. My recent burger was no good. The beef patty was the kind of dry one only gets by over-cooking, putting in the fridge for a few days and then reheating. The Dragon burger used to come with a generous helping of "OE special hot sauce"; this had none and the jalapeños were certainly of a cheaper jarred variety than the last time I had the burger. Sometimes it only takes one bad component of a dining experience to start becoming hypercritical of other components, so maybe the service wasn't as bad as I describe: Having to holler to get the bartender's attention because they are singing along with the music annoys me, but when she's directly in front of me and singing along to the other music she has playing in her earbuds, it is too much. I believe my visits to Oregon Express have come to an end.

Yelp
The Oregon Express is another fantastic bar and restaurant in the Dayton Oregon District. Its become one of my go-to's when downtown. The bar is awesome! Good prices for where it's located, they always have rotating beer on tap, a full bar with different specials everyday all served by some of the friendliest bartenders you'll find. The food is always a 9 or 10! The Pretzels with honey mustard or the Chips and Salsa are a both great starters. The pizzas are all fantastic and I absolutely love the Italian Submarine. (Pictured) If you're downtown and looking for a great bar and restaurant with awesome staff with a cool atmosphere the Oregon Express is a great option.

Adam C.

Yelp
We stopped by Oregon Express before our dinner reservation. Their website advertise happy hour, but when we arrived at the bar, the waitress informed us that they're aren't doing it. Boo. We had a a couple beers and a jumbo pretzel. The pretzel was ready fast but of the frozen variety. Overall, this spot is alright if you're just looking for a beer, but I wouldn't say much about the food.

Daniel W.

Yelp
Best pizza in town! Thin crust and lots of options. New owners are incredibly friendly and they brought back live music and karaoke. Looking forward to many great nights with them. Come check it out.

John G.

Yelp
I've been coming here for as long as I remember. Everything is great but The thin crust pizza is the best Ive ever had and I've been around. The owners and staff are amazing. The great variety of events from some of the best music in town to theology on tap discussions have kept me coming for several decades. Yes I said decades. :) LONG LIVE the OE!

Ted D.

Yelp
The pizzas were excellent! The beer and wine were fine. The ambience is very good except we had a server that had just been working there for two weeks.

Anima K.

Yelp
My dad is a big train buff so we took him here for dinner as a surprise. The train theme is present in the menu a bit and pops up occasionally in the decor but they don't lean into it hard. My chicken sandwich was delicious and I'd definitely order it again. Dad enjoyed his Reuben. The chili was nothing special but welcome on a cold day. Very nice dill pickles, not your standard fare. They serve a nice pink lemonade I also recommend. Our server was attentive and friendly and helped resolve a couple issues smoothly. We'll be back, for sure.

David C.

Yelp
The food wasn't great, just your generic bar food. The atmosphere was really cool so it's great if you solely go there for drinking but even then, none of the drinks have prices and one bottle cost me $6

Chad D.

Yelp
Once a year, 3 years in a row now with our travels! Have had the Reuben pizza twice, such a unique idea and its really good! This is a fun little bar down the street from the convention center with great food and drinks. Nice staff and will continue to come back when I'm in town.

Deborah T.

Yelp
I ordered over the phone for pick up. Food was ready on time and was good. Although I didn't get a typical taco salad. The ingredients were decent but the hard chips around the edges, instead of an actual taco salad shell, were not very good.

Lauralee P.

Yelp
What a cool atmosphere outdoors on a beautiful night in Ohio! Our server was adorable and very helpful. Pizza choices and taste were great. Need more beer selection on tap!

Lisa S.

Yelp
Can you say chicken ranchero pizza and Lemon drop martinis??!! Always good pizza, unique, and great staff! You will find all types of people here just enjoying life and the owners run pizza, cocktails, or whatever to keep it going! This pizza has chicken, white sauce, red and green bell peppers, jalapeño peppers, and onions......yuuuuummmmy!!

Ellie D.

Yelp
Love the rooftop seating, great view of the city and train tracks from up here. This is a great place to go after work for a quick drink...grab a pizza if you're hungry. On weekends they usually have a live band but they charge a cover so be warned.

Angelie C.

Yelp
Every now and again my husband and I come here to kick back, listen to live music, and drink beer. The staff is always friendly, the beer is always cold, and the music is usually good. Sometimes it's not our style but it's the ambience that counts. We usually order the Reuben pizza and it is delicious! perfect combination of sweet and sour. I do offer one warning! The wait staff usually tells you but in case they don't. The tables are kind of unleveled and if you don't use a coaster, you will end up with your drink in your lap! We saw a lady in there one night wearing white pants and drinking red wine and you can probably imagine the unwelcome outcome because she wasn't using a coaster.

Lisa B.

Yelp
Love their BLT pizza. I went in to order over an hour before they closed according to their sign on their door but they said they were closing early and asked me to leave.

Brittany M.

Yelp
The Oregon Express is my most favorite place to be Tuesday nights. They host a trivia night with Rich that starts at 6:30, which is always a blast. It is usually cramped and I wish they had a larger space to host it. Either way, it's a great time. Their pizza is delicious and they have unique pizza options. We love the O.E. Deluxe pizza and the Ranchero pizza. The staff is kind and always do a great job. Their $10 pints are wonderful to share. Unfortunately they don't have a large beer selection, but they do have rotating options. 10/10 would recommend checking out trivia nights and getting some pizza to share.

Emma B.

Yelp
My friends and I went for dinner. The food was just the typical bar food. It was a good atmosphere and a great location but I thought it was a little over priced. I enjoyed the overall experience but not sure I would be back for the food.

Matthew G.

Yelp
Very good pizza. From Cincinnati for a Flyer basketball game. Great environment with good beer selection. Pleasantly surprised with pizza.

Steve S.

Yelp
This is a bar that serves good bar food in the Oregon District of Dayton. We had 5 of us stop for lunch and it was all fresh, quick and good. Here's a summary; OE Special Pizza: it was on a thin crust, completely covered with pepperoni, sausage, onions, green pepper, mushrooms, black and green olives and banana peppers. Chuck said it was really good! Sriracha Pizza; also on a thin crust it was completely covered with chicken, bacon, feta cheese, mozzarella, provolone and a healthy sprinkle of cilantro. Doug said it was really good as well! 1/2 Artichoke sub a salad; this is a no meat sub. It had artichoke, cheese, banana peppers onions, lettuce, and mustard. She skipped the mayo. The salad was a nice mix of greens. Jen said it was great. Reuben and chili; Reuben was typical, corn beef, kraut, Swiss cheese, 1000 island dressing on rye sandwich bread. The chili was thick and had a covering of cheese. Don said the Reuben was lean and the chili was yummy. I had the Derailer; this was a breaded and fried chicken that was mildly spiced. It also had lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese, and ranch dressing on a toasted bun. It didn't last long at all. The service was fast, pleasant and interactive. Nice job! If your out for a quick bite for lunch or a beer and something to fill that empty spot, I'd recommend this place.

Roberta R.

Yelp
We go to Oregon Express every Tuesday for dinner and Trivia. The service has always been pretty good and we love trivia. The food is...edible. We've tried nearly everything on the menu, yet dread deciding what to order every week. I can't recommend a single thing. I'd say the nachos and soft pretzel are the two least conventional menu items (avoid). Ask what the soup of the day is; we've had good luck there.

Tony B.

Yelp
Their pizzas are so tasty. The Rueben pizza is my favorite. Be sure to try the pretzel appetizer with melted cheese and honey mustard. Service can be a little slow if eating in-house when it's busy (which is understandable) but the staff is very friendly so it makes up for it.

Joel L.

Yelp
I'm a fan. I had dinner on a Sunday in the Summer time and it was nearly filled with customers on the first floor. The server was really great because she politely answered a lot of my questions. I was in a little bit of a hurry so she noticed and sped up the food. She was also very attentive, especially because I was eating alone. I didn't have to wait very long for anything. The Oregon Express Special Pizza was very good and flavorful.

April A.

Yelp
When it comes to pizza in Dayton, this is definitely my favorite spot. I have tried the OE, the chicken ranchero and the southern BBQ chicken pizza. Out of the three of them, the southern BBQ chicken pizza is my favorite. I walk over there about 4 times a month for that pizza! They also have live bands perform at different times throughout the week. Always a good time!

Kyle S.

Yelp
Really awesome vibe here with great pizza and bar selection. Definitely give them a visit soon!

Amy R.

Yelp
The pizza here is amazing! I love their chicken bacon shiricha, truly my favorite. Would highly recommend, great local bar.

Kelly E.

Yelp
This place is pretty good and staff is super friendly. We got a small pizza with jalapeños, tomatoes and black olives and chips and homemade dip. Everything was good. It's a great place to go for lunch.

Richard G.

Yelp
I love this Place, BUT!!! Business here makes no sense. It might be 15 people in here on a Sat night. I don't understand why they charge a cover when the band goes takes the stage. a party of 2, a party of 4 and a party bus of about at least 12 people that I saw get off the bus, to charge a cover all went the other way. for sure most want to drink. Got the kitchen staff come to the front looking out the window, bored & the front staff complaining about people not wanting pay a cover. Easy, run the Junk box and sell drinks. Pros Know and the rest Guess.

Rick G.

Yelp
I was doing a show at the comedy club down the street, and stopped in here to meet family who live in the Dayton area for dinner before. Everything about this places screams "dive bar" and that is just fine by me, I LOVE a good dive bar. Even though it's a dive bar, there are a few surprises on the menu. I had a Reuben Pizza, and it was simply outstanding. I can't express how much I loved this! We'll certainly return, but I might have a hard time ordering anything else. It's kind of the perfect storm. A dive bar with out of the ordinary food. I'm a fan.

Roy M.

Yelp
Best pizza that I have ever had. Crispy crust that is not greasy whatsoever. Excellent service also.

Hannah M.

Yelp
I always come here for a show, it's a good spot for that for the most part. Everyone has talked about their pizza but the secret is the soft pretzels with cheese on top and honey mustard on the side. It's the best soft pretzels I've ever had, no joke. So why only two stars? Well the best pretzel ever can't make up for terrible service. Which is what I get every single time I come in. It's not that big of a place so I don't know why it's so hard to flag down a waitress or have them check back with you later when you want another drink. Really weird to me that the waitresses consistently miss opportunities for me to give them money and make me go to the bar instead. But trust me I have had poor experiences with the bar tenders too. Maybe it's different during dinner hours but I'm eating a meal and drinking just as much as anyone else so would be giving just as good of tips if not more. I wouldn't have taken the time to write this except tonight was the 4th time in a row I've been this annoyed.

Brandon S.

Yelp
A Dayton STAPLE! You must come to Oregon Express if you are visiting the city. I've lived in Dayton my whole life and actually didn't know about the bar/restaurant until I attended for a friends birthday. Drinks are strong and the pizza - MY GOD! The best pizza I think I've ever had. I order a large meat lovers which has salami, bacon, pepperoni, and sausage (sometimes I'll add banana peppers if I'm feeling like a little spice!) and it is to die for.

Barbara S.

Yelp
Great pizza. Great delivery experience from 937 Delivers. The food was hot and fresh. The delivery was actually quite fast, within 45 of order, keeping in mind that it was a a Thursday.

Chuck S.

Yelp
Best pizza in town is a toss-up between Oregon Express and South Park Pizza Tavern. The pizza at OE is a thin crust bar-style pizza with a very flavorful sauce. Oregon Express wins out in the category of "best bar". The rooftop patio with views of downtown Dayton is what puts OE into a special category for me.

Joshua M.

Yelp
Went with a big group and got a seat right away. The food was unbelievable!! 10/10 pizza and burgers. Great prices and good live music.

Hank V.

Yelp
Candyce O'Connor's 40th High School reunion from West Carolton H.S. Celebrating at The OE in the Oregon District in Dayton. By far my favorite place to party. They had a great Blues band for Happy Hour. Best pizza anywhere. Love the upstairs balcony. Susan Bavaro and Joe Bavaro owners and friends certainly know how to make it happen!

Leslie G.

Yelp
This place has come a long way since we moved to the neighborhood in 2002. Currently, they have 50% off specialty pizzas for dine in on Mondays and 25% off Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The three taps they mention used to be Bud, Bud light and Amber Bock, so the fact that they are actually craft/micros is a step up. They have a small wine list by the bottle starting around $17 (including the likes of Woop Woop Shiraz and an Italian Chianti), though you can get splits by the glass for under $5. Personal favorite amongst their pizzas is one that isn't on the menu---we made it up and call it "Meat-a-licious," which is basically code for all-meat pizza. We ask for it in hushed tones when we're with our vegetarian/vegan friends, but as a carnivore, it is a fave. Our only gripe is that it is our corner neighborhood bar, and paying $5 cover on a weekend when they are half-full, and we just want to buy a beer...well, we head down the street at that point.

Greg S.

Yelp
Wow! What great pizza.. Ordered a 10" (small) OE special for dinner w/salad and I am a complete fan. The pizza was ultra thin crust variety which I love and toppings were great. Salad was very 'just ok' with little else besides lettuce. Pizza was a definite 5 star (no better IMHO), but knocked the score down to 4 stars due to the salad. BTW, now visiting the first time on a business trip and all I can say is that Dayton is an awesome city with great bones for renovation of the downtown (so cheap for RE now, it has HUGE potential for redevelopment of killer properties, and people are so, so nice). It is a shame that the loss of manufacturing (and our country's stupid hunger for cheap overseas disposable crap) has been so hard on this place. Unlike Detroit, this place has a real opportunity for comeback if the city leaders get their act together. What a cool place.....

Darla B.

Yelp
Stopped in on Tuesday evening with my partner, because the OE pizzas rock. This evening, at about 6:30, they weren't busy but they weren't especially friendly either. The bartender was just....she was just not personable. We paid for our drinks TIPPED her, so that wasn't it, told us to go to a table, and assured a waitress would be right with us. 10 minutes later I went to check on the waitress. She appeared to be such a delicate flower. The bartender snaps she'll be there when she gets there, and then the hipster chick in her totally happenin' knit hat slides up to the table, throws down some napkins and tells me I don't need to get an attitude. (Wrong thing to say. I can be just fine until that.) I (was starving and) told her she could go on somewhere, because we wouldn't be bothering her anymore. And we didn't. We left. Who hires these people???? It doesn't matter. We won't be back. Complaint to management got me nothing, so they must not care either. It used to be a cool place. This is the best pizza in town and the place wasn't busy. The staff on hand -- not the kitchen people; we didn't see them -- but the bartender and "waitress"? No personalities, but some definite attitude. If I'm your waitress and I hear someone questioning where i am, I oam smart enough to be apologizing all the way to the table. Perhaps, hatgirl, you could learn from that. Don't know what to tell you about the baby Lea DeLaria at the bar. That's a whole other story. All I got for that is personality is SO important. Works for Lea DeLaria.

Monica H.

Yelp
The service was awesome. The pizza delicious! We went early and there was no wait. Parking was behind the record store.

Jeff S.

Yelp
Come here on a Monday night. They give 25% off on all their pizzas then, which, of course, is when we decided to check this place out. They make thin-crust pies and have a decent variety of toppings. The quality is far above your simple delivery but I wouldn't crown them as gourmet. The beer selection is good, as is the ambiance. On weekends, they have live music regularly. This weekend, they threw a tribute to 80's hair metal bands. I would have liked to go, but my mullet isn't quite grown out yet. In all, Oregon Express is a fun, laid-back joint. I'd recommend it if you are going out with a group of 4+ and are looking to just socialize/hangout within your group. If you have crazier ambitions, perhaps look elsewhere.

Cameron W.

Yelp
I try to give out five stars lightly, but this place deserves it. I find myself coming here frequently; their pizzas are some of the best in Dayton, albeit pricy, but they are worth it. Their craft beer selection is respectable and it features a lot of local brews. The place is very spacious and offers ample seating, even an outdoor patio come the warmer months. Stop in here to enjoy great pizza, beer, live music and soak in the Oregon District when you get a chance!
