Where to Drink a Guinness in the Indianapolis Area This Winter | Eater

"Located in the 123-year-old Century Building, this downtown staple is known as a great place to drink Guinness: It even received its Guinness Brewery Perfect Pint certification card. Still, the pub’s crowning achievement may be the shamrock that bartenders draw on each pint’s foam. Catch the latest game on TV, or just play electronic darts while you swig your beer." - Brian Garrido

Sorry, probably not for me. This place seemed like it could be fun and worth staying for a while. Not the case. Took 20 minutes in an empty restaurant for this chorizo zero flavor cheese dip. I think they forgot to put it in but… Bar service was fine but I probably wouldn’t return.

The sweet potato fries were great, the bread on the Ruben was very hard. Heads up, if you eat outside people smoke at the table even with the no smoking sign, that was very annoying! It's a small area and the smoke was right in our faces, we thought about complaining until we saw the guy that seated us smoking right by the sign too! We won't be going back! We also got bread pudding to go and they put whipped cream on very hot bread pudding (why heat it) and it was spilled everywhere and was a complete mess!

Update: I checked some other reviews with pictures and the only thing I can think of is people from Indianapolis don't know good food or have never been to any other Irish pubs. Good grief. A lackluster Irish pub in downtown Indianapolis. We came after a day walking around the city for a casual early dinner. We love Irish pubs and have found quite a few amazing ones in our travels all over the world, this was the worst one I've been too. Overall it wasn't terrible for a bar, just below average. The beers were decent, although with all the breweries in Indianapolis I would have liked to see more local brews. The Guinness was good and poured correctly though. I had one beer and would have ordered more, but the service wasn't good. It was quiet when we went. Maybe 3 other tables tops. Our waitress was good at first. Good greeting and helped us with the beers and menu. But once we ordered she barely came back and when she did, I didn't have time to ask for another beer. The food was very meh. If we were super hungry from walking around all day we probably would have eaten less than we did. I was told the fries were good and Lowry season, they were plain and bland. As stated, we didn't get a chance to mention anything and we were hungry. The sandwich I had was fine but the Irish Nachos we had were really sad. Probably the worst Irish Nachos I've ever seen. Overall with the amount of places nearby we made a poor choice but I wish them well. I hope this was just an off day or something, but I won't be giving them another chance. Not recommended.

Excellent. Stopped by for a bit to see eat and was not disappointed. Welcomed at the door and shown excellent hospitality throughout the stay. Decent menu options with some excellent Irish choices, the Bangers and Mash was especially tasty. Nice clean ambiance. Worth a stop and visit.

Wow. We would’ve stayed, and I’m a big tipper, not they were so rude. Unbelievable for someone who travels nationally and internationally. Rushed and mistreated. Never again. AVOID!

Food is absolutely delicious! The owner, Joel, is friendly and welcoming and knows his food! Our bartender Liz was friendly and awesome to talk to! Definitely recommended to eat and drink here, especially during FDIC!

Stopped in for a patty melt and a pint. Both were excellent. Even though the pub was very fairly crowded the service was great.

What a disappointing restaurant, upon arrival told there was no seating available except at the bar or outside despite the main dining floor being empty. So outside we went, only to get a strong recurring scent of Marijuana coming from some random dude hanging out in the patio area despite clearly not being a patron of this place. We were also interrupted 3 more times by random people walking through the patio area asking us for money. Never once saw an employee or manager even attempt to limit people from walking in the fenced off patio. The service, our waitress was OK but she was visibly stressed out and when she brought us our bill, told us we had to handle cashing out ourselves as she was to overwhelmed to take our credit card, process payment and bring it back to us. How bad is management that they can't help this poor woman out. Finally, the food. None of it was good, the appetizer O'Reilly's cheese dip, which should be great since it bears their name, was grainy in texture and lacked any smooth liquidity or rich cheesy taste. It also had chorizo sausage in it, which seemed really odd for an Irish restaurant. My partner had a reuben sandwich that she tasted and thought "someone needs to clean the grill" due to an odd flavor and smell on the corned beef. I had the Cottage Beef Pie, and the most flavorful part of that disaster were the peas. The corned beef was swimming in brown gravy which ruined both flavor elements, and the cheese was flavorless which is probably the good news. Finally even our drinks were subpar. My iced tea was severely diluted probably made from instant mix. My partner's Arnold Palmer was also diluted or possibly lacked any iced tea element at all, it really looked and tasted like weak lemonade despite our waitress' reassurance that it was an Arnold Palmer. In summary, poorly run establishment with zero atmosphere, bad food and drinks. Don't waste your time or money here.
