The 16 Best Restaurants in Mountain View - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"We’ve been going to Oren’s Hummus for silky-smooth hummus, crispy green falafel, fluffy pita, and herby beef kebab for a while now, in both San Francisco and Palo Alto, and the Mountain View outpost offers the same menu of Middle Eastern delights as the others. Like its sister locations, this Oren’s is decorated in their signature casual style, punctuated by ornate details, like the crystal chandelier by the register and the Moroccan floor tiles. It’s perfect for both quick lunches and leisurely casual dinners, and if the weather is good, opt for one of the many umbrella-covered tables in the outdoor eating area." - gabi moskowitz

Google
Wonderful Sunday lunch last week. The fried cauliflower florets starter was great. Nicely fried, not greasy with a good thick pesto labane sauce. We loved the muhamarra with the fried pita strips. Had some the next day and it was still fantastic. The chicken pita sandwich was good. My chickpea salad was tasty, but I wasn’t expecting the chickpeas to be so firm. The chocolate babka was great, not too sweet. The staff was attentive and the service was prompt. Nice atmosphere too, casual and welcoming.

Google
Fantastic experience and absolutely amazing food! Carla our server did an incredible job recommending certain options. We tried pita falafel sandwich, Mahmara dip with chips and then gluten free chcolate mousse along with handmade baklava for desserts. Great food and authentic food, we will be back for sure!!

Google
Great place for falafel veggie pita pocket + some chocolate mousse and baklava. Our server went above and beyond to share their favorites. Will be coming here again soon!

Delicious lamb skewer and chicken rice bowl. Had tasted hummes in other stores previously, same nice quality.

We celebrated my friend's birthday at this OH location. Their menu is the same as at the Palo Alto restaurant. Unfortunately they had black olives, not green ones which are much tastier with the pickles. Order a combo of small plates and appetizers 2 for $12 or 3 for $15. The rice bowl with veggies was good, however I would prefer more mushrooms on it. We liked that they substituted the pita with cut veggies for the hummus dip. Our server was very nice and helpful, chatty and polite.

Oren’s Hummus on Castro Street is a gem for Mediterranean food lovers! The hummus here is incredibly creamy and flavorful, served with warm, fluffy pita that’s perfect for dipping. They have a great selection of fresh salads, grilled meats, and veggie options, making it easy to find something for everyone. The casual, welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff add to the overall experience, making it a fantastic spot for a quick bite or a relaxed meal. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the Castro area!

Google
a month ago, I told a friend I’m not a fan of hummus, but this completely changed my mind 😩 Oren’s Hummus was the first place my friend took me to after I landed in the bay area! I didn’t have much expectation since it was my first time trying Israeli, but I’ve literally been DREAMING about it since then 😋🍽️ the outdoor seating in downtown mountain view makes it THE location for a cute, casual lunch date ☀️⛱️ the hummus was so creamy and goes perfectly with the pita bread and fries! it needs to expand beyond the bay area!!! what we’ve ordered (very filling for two!): 🥗 comes with salad! (refreshing starter) 🥣 hummus (comes with the softest, fluffiest pita bread, so much comfort in the yumminess) 🍟 garlic fries (5/5! perfect thickness, and the warm fries goes really well with the hummus) 🍸seasonal raspberry lemonade (3.5/5 minty, cold, and refreshing—not too sweet, but also not very special 👀)

Google
Honey, I was so excited to try this place but what a disappointment. The hummus was absolutely tragic - tasted like it came straight from a grocery store container with zero flavor or freshness. Not the creamy dreamy Mediterranean experience I was hoping for at all. The pita bread was drier than my sense of humor after a long day. Literally crumbled in my hands before I could even dip it. And for the prices they’re charging? Baby, no. The service was fine I guess but when the food is this basic there’s really nothing that can save the experience. There are so many better Middle Eastern spots in this city that actually know how to make proper hummus. Save your coins darling and go literally anywhere else.

Yelp
We had takeout from Oren's for a recent meeting, and wow--everything was delicious. The portions? Huge. Like, "this could feed a small village" huge. I tried the hummus with Moroccan beef, and it was insanely flavorful. Every bite was perfection. I probably ate way more than I should have, but honestly, how do you not when it's that good? Walking away wasn't an option. I was wishing I'd ordered extra pita, but simultaneously glad I didn't... because then I never would have stopped! If you love hummus, this place is a must. Just be prepared to accidentally eat an entire meal's worth before you even realize what's happening.

Yelp
Been here a couple times over the past couple of years and it's always been a pretty reliable spot for some great hummus/mediterranean food! They have plenty of seating, both outdoor and indoor and we've never had to wait for a table. The staff are also always very friendly! ~The Food~ - Quick-Fried Cauliflower Florets: My favorite app here! These fried cauliflower bites come with a creamy pesto labane sauce, which I love! One downside is that the fried cauliflower can sometimes be pretty oily (a bit overwhelming), so I'd say definitely share among a group! - Eggplant Hummus: A huge bowl of fresh hummus topped with soft braised eggplant in tomato stew; The eggplant is so well seasoned and pairs so well with the hummus and pita. - Shakshuka: I've never tried shakshuka before this, and I really enjoyed it! The eggs were runny and the tomato stew was nicely seasoned! - Pita Bread: We've tried both their wheat and white pita bread options and they are SO fluffy and delicious. They usually serve them warm and I would say these pitas are my favorite part of my meals at Orens. ~Pricing~ Overall, I'd say the pricing is quite reasonable! Many of their dishes are very much shareable and so we usually don't order much and leave feeling very satisfied!

Yelp
Great quality food, and slightly elevated as compared to the Oren's Hummus express that I'm accustomed to. I got a mix of dips as my meal, each of which comes with a pita, which was more than enough to be an absolutely filling meal, though it did lack protein. I got three different eggplant dips - their babaganoush is my favorite! I love pairing it with the whole wheat pita. I love that there are the grab and go options, just like the Express version does. They are currently buy three get one free. I love all of the eggplant based dips.

Yelp
Best hummus and pita - both of which seems to be freshly made. Friendly service and great location / ambience.

Yelp
Absolutely and still the best Mediterranean food and out of this world pita in town bar-none. Went back to have dinner tonight with my wife and son and we cleaned up all our dishes. The beef/lamb ground beef was excellent, my chicken thighs were soft and flavorful, the rice was magnificent and of course the pita dipped in hummus and babaganoush was a must have. Raphael did an excellent job and apologized to us for a slight wait due to a shift-change and so he brought out some pastries to us. He was very respectful and attentive. Very nice gentleman and he made our evening pleasant and inviting. Kudos to you Raphael!
google avatar

Yelp
Same excellent quality as their Palo Alto location. The beef kebabs are incredibly tender. Roasted veggie kebab was also delicious. Pairs well with their warm soft pitas and salads.
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered the rice bowl with beef kebabs today, and it was very yummy! I enjoyed combining a small bite of kebab, rice, tahini, and Israeli salad for every bite. The flavors mixed super well. The rice was flavorful and moist. They also give a lot of it! This meal is enough for me to have lunch the next day. While the flavors of the beef were good, it was a bit dry. I wish it got taken off the grill/over a few minutes earlier and that would've been perfect!

20$ for a salad with uncooked chickpeas and chicken. Worst lunch ever. I want my money back

Yelp
Had a great experience here for a team lunch on a Friday. We decided to order family style (for 8 of us) and got three hummuses (cauliflower, eggplant, lamb) and two skewer plates (veggie, chicken) which came with a few dips (baba ghanoush, Greek style eggplant, and labane), feta French fries, and a couple extra pita. Everything was delicious! We had an mis of vegetarians and non-vegetarians so it was a good mix of items that let everyone try a bit of everything. Some of the standouts were the eggplant hummus, the chicken skewers, and the baba ghanoush. Service was great and our food came out quickly. Overall a great experience. We ate indoors because we had a bigger group but they also have outdoor tables on the street which looked pleasant for dining.

Yelp
Came here with a friend for dinner on a Wednesday, had a great time and dining experience!! I ordered the Hummus Chicken bowl ($16 as of Nov. 2023) with whole wheat pita (2). Its a large portion of hummus so it might be good for sharing, but it also worked as a light dinner for me and I saved the half I couldn't finish for a second meal! Good flavor, the roasted chicken is seasoned amazingly and goes really well with the warm fluffy pitas. They also provide a little side of complimentary cabbage slaw at the start! Service was super kind and attentive, it was a busy night but we felt well taken care of. They also offered to split the bill for us which was convenient! Clean restaurant interior, a few of the tables are just a bit close together and feels maybe a little too cozy. Parking was tricky, I ended up parking across the train tracks but it was a short walk anyways!

Yelp
i wasn't the biggest fan the first time i came here, but then i came with some coworkers who REALLY like this place and come here every time during on-sites - i tried what they liked (chicken schnitzel pita) and really liked it. we also ordered sweet potato fries for the table and i enjoyed that as well. i might've just not ordered the right dish the first time around -- i got the oren's fattoush salad and shared some of the classic hummus. i've only ever come for lunch on fridays and there's never been a wait, even with a party of 8. i think it's a popular spot for corporate meals in general - my coworkers said that there's something for everyone (dietary restrictions!).

Yelp
We've came to Oren hummus many times, and this location several times as well. I like the dining environment of this location the most. It's located at the end of the Castro street in MTV downtown. We chose outdoor seatings usually on good day. We usually order a sampler, an entree dish and a few extra breads. The quality of food and service has been consistently great for so many years. The most part we enjoy is the moment the bread is brought out, with all the freshness that you can imagine. Sampler is perfect for me as a person like vegetarian food more than meats - I'm so glad that they kept the same menu for years.

Yelp
Wow the reviews don't lie! The service is impeccable here. From when you sit down to when you leave, they are always available to help. OREN'S EGGPLANT: yes there's hard boiled egg in here and yes it's delicious! No it's not discernible at all. I love the flavor of the caramelized onions with the fried eggplant. Recommend! JAFFA STYLE HUMMUS: super creamy with pine nuts. Our server said the difference was this one had a lot of garlic. Definitely this one, please. FALAFEL: normally not something I choose to eat, but they are really good here. Can't really elaborate since I can't compare it to anything else but it was hot and crispy on the outside and well seasoned! PITA: the pita is amazing! Soft, warm, fluffy. Couldn't ask for more honestly. Their wheat one was good too but i prefer the regular if I had to choose. Mmmm! ISRAELI SALAD: nothing too special about this, it was fresh and acidic! They have a green hot sauce on the table is good with everything and has a nice kick! The atmosphere is cozy. We arrived when there was still daylight and stayed until after sunset, when they dimmed the lights.

Yelp
*** Vegetarian Review *** Plant based lamb! Ok, that's the main reason why I showed up and the reason why I will return. Service was superb! Sophia explained the menu, made solid recommendations, and here's the kicker ... if you don't like your dish, they'll exchange it for something else at no charge. Will definitely return when I'm in town.

Yelp
Some very buss hummus dip and pita bread! My sister and I stopped by for a quick afternoon bite -- service was solid, vibes were nice, and food did not disappoint.
google avatar

Simran T.

Yelp
Took a hummus eggplant and shakshouka. Both were very good. They even served a small Greek salad on the side which was very refreshing. The Shakshouka was amazing and so was the hummus. Portions are huge and more than enough. Will definitely try more items next time.

Yelp
Orens hummus at mountain view is easy to spot. They charge more if you order take out instead of dine in. Their rice bowls are good. They mention chicken skewers but it doesnt really come on skewer , kind of bummer if you are expecting that, but it tastes good. We like their muhmarrah dip. It got introduced sometime this year only. They have outdoor seating as well. The outside music on weekend evening can make the place feel noisy . Overall still my go to place. Easy menu
google avatar

Angel H.

Yelp
Love their original hummus, it's so creamy and has been my favorite hummus in the South Bay for many years. Will often pick up a take-out container to-go for the fridge at home. Meats can be too dry sometimes so it's a hit or miss on the proteins depending on the day. Wish this was more consistent. Overall, it's a good option for a healthy quick bite. Their best dish used to be the chicken liver hummus, which they don't have anymore. PLEASE BRING IT BACK
google avatar

Monica V.

Yelp
Came here because it was recommended and it didn't disappoint. The vibe was cute with the outdoor dining and we were able to listen to the live music playing outside. Food was incredible and left feeling super full! Our waiter was also super sweet

Yelp
I discovered Oren's Hummus by chance but as soon as I walked in I was welcomed by the smile of the waitress. So welcoming! It was my first time so I asked to tell me more about the food and what I can choose from the menu. I got really good recommendations! So I had chicken skewer that goes with 2 sides or dips of my choice, I chose Jaffa-style hummus and falafel. I also tried Greek style egg plant and Labane. So happy to have such a unique experience! The place is very stylish, comfy and modern. They have table outside, serve you with water and give you an opportunity to buy freshly made hummus from the fridge there. The price is a bit higher than average, but the quality is worth it. Pay attention that menu at the bottom says "Outside Dessert Fee $1.50". That refers to anyone who brings a cake or outside desserts (like a birthday cake or cupcakes) into Oren's instead of purchasing from the restaurant. It does not apply to take out orders of the desserts.

Mo H.

Yelp
Adrian was a great server. He was very knowledge and gave great recommendations. Will be back because of his service.

Ronnie F.

Yelp
The staff here have really ramped up their customer service game recently. I go here often for takeout of their incredibly delicious hummus and baba ghanoush, and I am always greeted promptly and cheerfully. The service is efficient and pleasant. I am especially impressed that they are offering vegetables as an alternative to the pita bread for the hummus and baba ghanoush. I love this place!
google avatar

Tara J.

Yelp
I love this place. I don't understand how the hummus is so smooth. All the food is good. It seems a little pricey but everything is right now.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been going to Oren's Hummus for 5+ years and I've never had a bad experience. I usually get the hummus beef which is a generous serving of hummus and seasoned ground beef topped with tahini and served with two pitas (white or wheat). I also LOVE the Oren's eggplant dip. It has caramelized onion, hard boiled egg (not noticeable), chicken stock, and spices. Other dips are tasty - I also enjoy the labane yogurt cheese a lot - but the Oren's eggplant dip is by far the best. If you enjoy hummus and/or pita sandwiches, Oren's Hummus is a MUST TRY. I no longer live in the Bay Area but make an effort to go to any of the Oren's locations when I get the chance. My only complaint is that you have to find street parking.
google avatar

Taufiq H.

Yelp
Really nice place well worth waiting for your table - long wait, even on weekdays excellent food! I ordered the sample which was about six different types of food
google avatar

Judy M.

Yelp
My go to is the chicken on a skewer, it is always juicy & tender, and seasoned perfectly. Their hummus is also delicious, served with a piece of either whole wheat or white fluffy & soft pita. For a plate (with 2 sides), it is a bit pricey after taxes, tip, and a mandatory server's expenses or fee of similar sorts. But I still highly recommend this place.
google avatar

Malisa R.

Yelp
It was my first time on Castro Street and it was fantastic. Love the space especially post Covid with closed streets and a ton of outdoor dining. My friend and I decided to check out Oren's Hummus and we were not disappointed. We sat outside. Weather was great and it was perfect for people watching. We started with the hummus eggplant. There are a ton of hummus options, but I love eggplant so had to try this. The hummus is so creamy. Have you ever had fresh made hummus? I was spoiled when one of my college friends would made this from scratch. Oren's reminds me of that homemade touch. It was so yummy. Our entrees, my friend and I shared everything. We ordered the beet and goat cheese salad and the chicken skewers, which comes with 2 sides. The beet and goat cheese salad comes with huge chunks of beets, goat cheese, and nuts.
google avatar

Janet H.

Yelp
Huge portions but lovely outdoor seating for those who'd like to bring their furry friend along. The ladies here were so, so sweet and brought out a bowl of water for my pup. They were also super patient despite my friend being almost an hour late from our meeting time, haha. Luckily it was a weekday and wasn't too busy! The portions are generous and filling - you really can't go wrong with any of the items. The chicken was tender and of course I wish I could try all the hummus! Do note the CalTran tracks is down the block so it can be a little startling/loud. A great place to share plates, too!
google avatar

Yelp
Oren's Hummus has a few locations in South Bay, so I've been meaning to check it out for some time now. The Castro Street location is a great spot, surrounded by a lot of other popular restaurants! They have both indoor and outdoor seating, which is nice. We opted for indoor seating since it was slightly cold the evening we came in. The ambience inside is homey, with laughing and light-hearted conversations filling the atmosphere. Overall, good vibes here. The staff was very attentive, and kept checking in with us even after we ordered. For the appetizer, we got the Babaganoush and Small Hummus. This comes with pita bread, too. These were flavorful, are are must-try options! After all, this place is called Oren's HUMMUS! We split the Pita Beef Kebab and the Pita Chicken Schnitzel. They also ask what type of pita bread you want (whole wheat, etc.). I hadn't had a schnitzel in a long time, so I quite enjoyed the latter. It had that familiar crunch I missed, and the chicken wasn't overwhelmingly spiced. The pitas were both good, but not wow-ing.
google avatar

Yelp
When my friend told me that we were going to Oren's Hummus, I was expecting to grab something to go and be on our way. Once we arrived, we learned the sampler was dine-in only, so we decided to stay. I decided to order the Greek salad because I was in need of some vegetables and I was blown away by how delicious and fresh it was. When it arrived, I was slightly bummed that everything was chopped and that there was so much lettuce. However, once I started eating I was so impressed. The dressing was delicious, I ate every last bite!! We also tried a cauliflower appetizer that was delicious. The sauce it came with was the highlight for sure. I would definitely return to Oren's and think I will be forever searching for a Greek salad as delicious as theirs.

Yelp
AMAZING HUMMUS. Started by a serial silicon valley entrepreneur, Oren Dobronsky brings a refined and perfected Israeli classic to the Bay Area. Every time we are around this area my wife always wants to go to Oren's and for good reason. I'm always satisfied with the dishes here and always wonder why we don't come more often. Hummus: My wife loves the original and this is the one I would get next time, you get a clean taste that you can compare easily with other Hummus you've have before. I got the lamb hummus this time and it was marinated in pomegranate juice. Well cooked and delicious with an extra flavor combination. Pita: It's so soft and fluffy, the perfect carrier for bringing that fantastic hummus into your mouth. A must order with hummus. Ema's Lentil Soup: Green lentil soup simmered with carrots, onion, celery, and fresh herbs. Great on a cool day.

Yelp
We have been a regular at this location for over a year now. My 5 year old daughter loves loves this place. They have kids activity page and crayons to keep them entertained. We usually go during the happy hour times. During our last visit, Aurora served us. She is the sweetest! My daughter is so picky about the olive oil/Chilli/ parsley on her hummus. She made sure there was none on hers. Thank you Aurora for being so kind :) Recommend this place for yummy Israeli food!

Yelp
Food was subpar. Restaurant was fairly empty still service was rushed and not good. Food arrived burnt all the way in the bottom. Not worth. Came out still hungry.

Yelp
Bonus gluten free pita!! $2 each Seasoning on the salads and beef kebabs were right on. We really enjoyed the regular hummus with sabich, and beef kebab with sides of Israeli salad and hummus Pita is fluffy Good friendly service. Water refilled without asking. Thanks Lovely outside seating ( or inside). Single serve gender neutral restrooms are clean

Yelp
I can absolutely credit Oren's for getting me into Mediterranean style food. Everything always tastes super fresh, the service is excellent, and the food is great. Tonight was a Saturday night, and my wife and I were kid free for several hours. After tooling around for a while, we turned around and headed toward the Oren's on Castro in Mountain View. The restaurant had plenty of seating, and we lucked out being able to pick our own table. Within minutes our waitress appeared. She was fun to talk to and very helpful. Our order was in quickly, and just 5-10 minutes later everything came out. My wife ordered the mint tea, which is an excellent tea that is as simple as mint leaves in hot water. She loves it. She also ordered the Jaffa hummus (a favorite) and a chicken kabob. Oren's is one of the few places that uses all dark meat chicken, and for her dietary requirements it's perfect. It's also delicious, so there's that. We got a side of the green falafel, which let's be real, is the best falafel. I ordered the hummus braised lamb bowl, and it was very good. The lamb is shredded and lightly sweet from the way it's cooked, and the hummus was spectacular. It came with a side of pita, so I was able to make a few bit sized sandwiches, and still have pita left to dip in my hummus. We wrapped the whole thing up with a Turkish coffee (REMEMBER NOT TO STIR IT FAM if you're not a Turkish coffee person) and the chocolate mousse. Both were excellent. It was not only a great night of food, but our chats with the waitress and manager were also very enjoyable. There are a lot of choices for Mediterranean food in the Bay, but Oren's is the one that keeps us coming up from the south.

Yelp
*Vegetarian Review* Food was ok. I've never had lamb and got the plant-based lamb and for my sides, hummus, rice, and white pita. Rice was hard, lamb was tough and the flavoring was odd, and the hummus was too thick for my liking. The best part was the fluffy, white warm pita bread (best ever) and the stellar service. I'm still not a fan of Mediterranean food but will always be open to trying it.
google avatar

Scott S.

Yelp
I'm not the biggest fan of Mediterranean foods aside from Italian and Persian, so maybe that colors my review a bit. But I just don't get the hype for this place. I've been here 3 or 4 times and the food is just very average to me. The grilled meats are ok, the hummus isn't any different to me than the hummus you get at a grocery store, and it's really expensive for the quantity. So what's to like? For me, not much. The food is just kind of bland and boring and seems largely the same. I don't know, the food here just kind of avoid flavors that really speak to me. Anyway, I know some people love this place, I don't, and the value isn't there.

Yelp
Visited on a Thursday evening while visiting town for an appointment. My friend and I were seated immediately and our drink order was taken. Our server was Sophia, and she was wonderful. She answered our questions about the menu, she was attentive and friendly. We shared a potato filled Bourekas, essentially a phyllo wrapped serving of mashed potatoes, delicious! I had the vegetable skewer, basmati rice, and small hummus, which I had with two whole wheat pitas. The hummus is thick, smooth, and creamy. The rice was perfectly cooked and seasoned, as were the vegetables. We had a small complimentary dish of cabbage slaw, which was fresh and flavorful. We returned to our hotel room full and happy, congratulating each other on such a stellar choice for dinner.

Yelp
One of our go to's for a quick and tasty meal! Our favorite order is Jaffa style hummus with beef (ask for it as it's not on the menu) and a rice bowl with chicken. Be sure to ask for plenty of red and green hot sauces to add to everything. So yum!
google avatar

Marissa H.

Yelp
The service is incredible and the person helping us was so attentive to detail and always came exactly when we had questions and when we were ready to order! The food is so delicious and comes out super quick! I love how soft the pita is and how creamy the hummus is. I am obsessed with the lights and how nice the outdoor seating is! There's lots of space inside and outside! This is a repeat for me! I was so pleased with the food and how friendly everyone is! I cannot wait to try more
google avatar

Lee K.

Yelp
Wowzer! Oren's Hummus has a lot of tantalizing appetizers and entrees. And the service is super attentive and friendly. For lunch, I tried the pita sabich sandwich with side of fries and really enjoyed it. It's filled with hummus, fried eggplant, hard-boiled egg, potato, cucumber, and pickles. As with all sandwiches, the pita is offered as white, wheat, or gluten free. I plan to return and work my way through their extensive menu.

Reminded me of piroshky Dessert: Traditional Malabi (Mediterranean custard topped with coconut, pistachios, rose water and raspberry syrup) S E R V I C E - Initially really slow. Not sure if it was understaffed or something else, but it was a really frustrating process to be seated. There was literally no other customers sitting inside, so we opted to dine inside for a shorter wait. We were told that it would be a 5-10min wait for indoor seating and 20-30min for outdoor seating. When our time was up, we asked 3 different staff members about our table who kept saying they'd ask someone about it... After waiting some more, we were finally seated. It also took a long time to get a waiter to take our order. + After we got our orders through, our waiter was super attentive and chatty. A M B I A N C E + Casual + Indoor and outdoor seating available + Indoor: Spacious and clean + Outdoor: Limited to the sidewalk + Easy to find location in downtown Mountain View + Ample free parking along the street T L ; D R I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and chalk it up to an off day for them. I've been to both the Campbell and Palo Alto locations, but I've not had such a difficult time getting a table especially since there were no customers sitting inside. The attentiveness of our waiter kind of made up for the initial lack of service. Food at Oren's Hummus is always delicious and consistent. Lots of vegetarian options. Great for casual dining or even a date.

Yelp
Came here over the weekend with some friends. My husband and I have had great experiences at Oren's in Los Gatos, so we were excited to try a different location. I've given Oren's in LG 5 stars, and the reason I'm giving this location 4 stars is because of the dishes we ordered. I got the rice bowl with falafel, while my husband got traditional shakshuka. The falafel was dense and rich, but the rice was not as flavorful as I was anticipating. It would have been better with some veggies. My husband thought his plate, on the other hand, had too many tomatoes. While we enjoyed our dishes, we definitely will be ordering the hummus dishes again.

Yelp
Go-to hummus/mediterranean spot in the Bay, and this location's at the end of Castro St, next to the Caltrain station. Ample seating with no wait, and so it's a good option with larger seating (but this might be different on weekends, I'd imagine it can be very popular during peak lunch/dinner hours as Castro normally is) The standouts here are the hummus and the pita, I got the beef kebab grilled entree which comes with a free pita (got white) and 2 dips/sides, of which I got Oren's eggplant and falafel, and tried my friend's side of marinated beets. The entree ended up being a lot for me, enough for 2 separate meals, though my friend also gave me his pita so that's a lot of carbs there too. Good value if you aren't the hungriest, since you can definitely stretch it out into multiple meals. Pita bread was a perfect balance of being soft, not too dry, and having good flavor, that gets complemented well by the hummus and the beef kebabs. Beef kebabs are cooked medium well (a bit red on the inside), very flavorful and not too salty, and go well by themselves, with the hummus, with the pita, or with all three! Hummus is smooth with a good flavor that helps add to the pita bread, or balance out the beef kebab or falafel, really liked the Oren's eggplant hummus flavor - you can taste hints of the egg, onion, eggplant, and chicken in it! Wasn't the biggest fan of the beets (I don't usually eat beets so wasn't sure if I'm just used to the acidity of them or if it was from the apple cider vinegar), the falafel wasn't amazing but at the same time pairs well with the hummus or the beef, from a texture and flavor balancing perspective. Not particularly a big issue for me since I'm there for the hummus, beef, and pita mainly but still worth noting if you're particular on the sides. Overall if you're craving Mediterranean on Castro, this is the spot, come for the hummus and pita, and enjoy the ambiance balanced with good Mediterranean food!

Yelp
Atmosphere: Not too bad. There's LOTs of places to choose from in downtown MTV (Mountain View). Service: 5/5 amazing service!!!! Food: Honestly wish I liked it more. I got the bowl and it was just okay barely any meat to it.

Yelp
I go to Oren's a lot and it's always a great deal for the amount of food you get and the portion sizes! Good: My favorite is always the hummus eggplant and I recently trod the green shakshuka which was also delicious. You get a lot of free pita bread which always tastes quite good. I like the whole wheat ones. They also give free salad! Bad: The food is usually what you expect, nothing super crazy but always good. I come a lot since the service is quick too!

Yelp
Located on Castro st with all the other restaurant and stores nearby. Was able to find street parking about a block away! You can sit either inside or outside! Except outside is a little noisy with the train so close. I had the beef plate with a side of hummus to share. The beef was good and juicy, comes as 3 pieces. Rice was fluffy and was good. The pita bread was amazing. It was super fluffy and so soft. Probably the best pita bread I've ever had. Hummus had good texture and flavor, no complaints. The food here is solid. Staff is nice and helpful with offering recommendations. Would recommend

Yelp
This is a nice, clean restaurant that's not too crowded in downtown Mountain View. This place is known for its hummus, but it also offer a variety of meal-food like salads, sandwiches, grilled plates, and others. I got the green shakshuka for $16. The ingredients sounded pretty good, and I've been to plenty of Mediterranean places before but have never seen shakshuka that's not red. Needless to say I was excited to try it when it came out in a bigger-than-expected pot. The majority of the dish was spinach, cream, and blobs of mozzarella cheese. The spinach cream was filling but not heavy, and the cheese was fresh and went well with the complementary spicy sauce. I tried digging around for the 2 eggs in the shakshuka, but got full before finding them. I didn't even touch the whole wheat pita bread that complemented the shakshuka, so it was definitely a good deal! The service here was excellent as well. The waitress gave me recommendations when I was ordering, and brought over extra sauces after seeing that I really liked them. Overall this is a great place and I look forward to returning here to try their happy hour items.
