Nice place to visit at the Oceanside tasting room. Sylvia is a bit slow, but you can get a decent bottle of wine and some good happy hour food. Chuck was a server and aside from a beautiful long wait at the start he did pretty good. We liked it enough that we decided to join the wine club we tried the Home plate and the sliders and the food was really good.

We wanted to have a late lunch on Mother's Day but had not made reservations anywhere... after wandering about the area we stumbled upon Orfila, and stuck our heads in to ask the hostess if it was possible to get a table on the patio for 2 humans & 2 furbabies. With a smile, she informed us it was OK. The atmosphere was wonderful with live music from guitarist Jason Jenkins. Our waiter, Granger, was friendly & quick with our drinks & order. He came by a few times to make sure everything was satisfactory. We ordered off the Mother's Day Menu, big meat frittata with home fries and arugula. It was incredibly tasty. With salami, sausage and bacon it was bound to be good, but it was extraordinary! It tasted like the best pizza ever, without the crust! The combination of cheeses created a polenta like texture...the home fries were moist and the caramelized onions delectable! I had the Challah French Toast with candied pecans and Chantilly cream! Omg, I ❤️ me some good candied pecans!!! These were not too sweet &  perfectly crunchy! French toast was not soggy at all. Just a well balance of batter and crispiness of the toast. We also had the Blackberry wine slushy...it was very tasty and refreshing! Think of it as an "adult slurpee!" We will definitely come back to this place to try their regular menu. High recommend 👌

Google
In summary, the food and wine is very good. Much of the estate wine is premium, but they offer nice other selections like the Stem Head Pinot and the Lagrein. We ordered most of their menu and it was excellent. The flat breads were very well balanced. The sliders decadent but fun and delicious. The Brussels and Octopus are great lighter dishes. Their array of wines don't all pair well with the entire menu ofcourse, it would have been nice if the staff elaborated some of the better pairings. All of the food was very very good. The two quips after trying about 70% of the entire menu is that the lamb was a little under seasoned along with the polenta it's nestled on. A little salt would have really made that dish a lot better. The Mediterranean plate was my favorite. I tried every single red wine they offer + the rose. The Pinots are the safe choices, but the tempernillo and the lagrein are the more rewarding choices. All in all a great place. The staff could use a little training around serving wine as it's a tasting room but a wonderful upscale casual stop nevertheless.

While on vacation with family, we decided to visit Oceanside. To be honest, I’ll only go back strictly for this restaurant. Over waiter and food were awesome. Our waiter was able to answer all of our questions. He definitely was not lying when he said all the food was amazing. From our different meals, not one was lacking anything. Extremely flavorful, food came out quickly, plentiful, and customer service was superb. Next time I’m in San Diego, I will definitely be coming back.

The Live music is fantastic and will make you stay longer enjoying their great wines and small plates to share. Desserts are just ok. But all the shareables and salads are really good. Also a good selection of beers and very friendly service.

Nice little wine bar deep in the heart of Downtown Oceanside. Indoor and outdoor seating, though the patio is much larger and more popular. Glasses of vino are around $12+. They have a large menu of food. We only tried the fried artichoke, which was very tasty but perhaps a little "too" fried. It was very crispy. Very pleasant staff.

Incredible! Hands down the best Spanish octopus dish (starter) my boyfriend and I have ever tried and I've been in the restaurant industry for 21 years! Tried the flight of 4 different wines of our choice and that paired nicely with the prosciutto and burrata starter dish as well as the mussels in the white sauce! YUM!! The chef even came out to see how everything was going. Cheers and thanks again Orfila for a wonderful experience!

What a TREAT! Wow I loved this amazing spot! Fabulous wine and amazing vegetarian & vegan food options! The lively contemporary art created a fun, casual, yet upscale experience! The service was outstanding- very friendly and attentive staff :) I will be back with friends! Thank you for the wonderful time!

Yelp
I decided to visit this winery as I was walking out of the Oceanside pier area. They had ample outdoor seats with fire lamps on most of them. I asked when I walked in if they offered wine flights, and the hostess told me they did until 5:00. It was 4:30 at the time, so I took advantage of that and sat outside. They offer mostly red wines with a few white wines and one sparkling wine. I thought the service was great, and I enjoyed the views of the back of downtown from the patio. The menu gives detailed descriptions of what each wine tastes like, which not all wine menus do. Also, this place doubles as a sitdown restaurant with a food menu, although I just ordered my wine flight. I'd definitely go here again if I'm down in Oceanside in the future!

Yelp
Top notch service and a great location. The patio area is nice and they've got outdoor heaters if it gets chilly. They are also dog friendly here. The food selection was excellent and had vegan options. The wine menu was unique and I loved the sparkly wine I had. It wasn't overly sweet, just refreshing and delicious. It's right at the start of the Oceanside market so if you're looking for a perfect Thursday afternoon, start here and then walk the market.

Yelp
$41.14 (food: japanese sweet potatoes - drink: red wine flight) Orfila Vineyards & Winery monologue: Strolling around, on foot, in Oceanside, on a Sunday afternoon, got me a bit on the hungry side. Many restaurants that I saw just weren't hitting the vibe test. Until...I saw a very attractive corner property, with heat lamps, people enjoying themselves, live music and wine glasses. I walked in and was greeted by a very friendly hostess (I didn't get her name). Her greeting solidified this was the place for me! I was guided to my seat, outside and soon met my waiter, Chris. I can't say enough good things about Chris. He was like the gift you really wanted on Christmas. His was gracious, patient, attentive and made the best recommendation - a wine flight! My meal (mentioned above, pics below), was unbelievably fantastic. I never had it before; my taste buds were satisfied and so was my belly. The red wines I chose - pinot noir sonoma and  sequestered, merlot estate and sangiovese estate -  certainly would have been the topic of conversation at a party. On your first or next visit to Oceanside, I highly recommend a food & wine stop at this establishment. Oh p.s. - check out their events calendar. If you get a chance to hear Troy Hill live (check him out on the various social media outlets), your day will feel complete!

Yelp
Amazing Service and Staff..The Chef cooked these sliders to perfection!! I would mind another one before my departure. The bread these are served on just melts in your mouth. Definitely a must try if your in the area. We came across this gem while on a Food Tour with Carla and Linda Local Tours...amazing check them out as well. Thanks Chef!!

Yelp
Delicious and tasty. The menu has alot of options so you can definitely go with friends. The flavors were really good and I would definitely come back. The staff were friendly and professional. We shared the muscles, some sliders, clam chowder and their chocolate cake. So yummy!

Yelp
This one really hurts me to write. We just got home from Orfila and I honestly feel like I wasted $100 on dinner (just 2 of us, no alcohol). I called in advance to make sure my mussels were in and I was told they were, yay! So we put our name on the list and zipped down there. FYI, you can only put your name on the list about 15 minutes in advance. Luckily we live pretty close so this worked out for us. Got there and we did have a table reserved for us, so we were seated promptly. Unfortunately, it was the table right next to the hostess stand, basically in the doorway between the entrance and the patio. A little breezy! We'd brought jackets in case we ended up outside so we were ok, but not an ideal spot. In fairness, they do also have blankets for your use if you are cold (the outside patio seating is often super cold, especially after sundown). We checked the menu to see if anything was going to tempt us away from our usual burger and mussels. Nothing did, so we ordered. Awhile later our waitress told us the burgers were sold out and did we want something else instead? (At least it wasn't the mussels that were sold out after calling in advance!) We swapped our order to add the lamb on polenta and a side of the fried artichokes in addition to keeping the mussels (ending up more expensive than our usual order), but my husband was uninterested in the lamb so this was our compromise. Now, here's where things really went downhill. The lamb came out. Alone. We sat for a bit, before I decided to go ahead and eat before it was ice cold. 3 little lamb lollipops off a rack over a bed of polenta. Extremely uneven cook - one was basically rare, another smaller one was pretty much well done. These were "ok" but not a great flavor and not very tender. The balsamic and pistachios mostly only flavored the bits right on the bone. The polenta was also "ok at best" - quite lumpy honestly, but a decent flavor. We finished the lamb. Then we sat, and sat some more. A nice older gentleman asked how we were doing. I said fine, but we were wondering when the other 2/3 of dinner were going to come out. He went to check on it and brought out the artichokes which we started snacking on. He said it was "luck of the draw" on checking on them, but well, I have my doubts. He then asked what the other part of our order was - always a good sign. The artichokes were alright, the aioli was less flavored than usual. It tasted like it was straight up just mayo tonight. The mussels finally came out and they had far less broth than usual. A ton of broken shells, the flavor of the broth was just off. Normally I practically want to drink the broth - it's rich and buttery and complex. Tonight it was just a salt bomb with no other good flavorings coming through. The mussels themselves were tiny instead of nice and plump and a few tasted a bit fishy. If this was the first time I had them I probably wouldn't order them again. Drinks sat with no refills, our waitress basically never came back to check on us until we were ready for the bill. If this was my first time in I would not return. I am hoping they go back to their usual high standard in the future and this was just an off night. One saving grace is their excellent white balsamic vinegar was in stock, so we did buy a bottle to take home. I always recommend picking that up if you're there. Well, thanks for reading my saga of a sad night out!

Yelp
It's a great place to people watch while enjoying a nice glass of wine. Yes, indeed. The people/service are so wonderfully nice. This is my go-to for a class of wine after a walk along the pier. The food is yummy with a nice selection... flatbread mushroom and the Mediterranean is my favorite!! See you here!!

Yelp
Google said the Oceanside location is closed? Only Escondido location came up. Anyone know if this is in fact true?

Yelp
We love this winery! The food and the wine is always delicious! We had a grilled cheese sandwich and a Ceasars salad! Perfect with the Pinot Gris!
google avatar

Yelp
Wow!!! Excellent service and the place is perfect for having beer, wine, and some food. Sit inside or outside on the patio; either way you'll enjoy the Oceanside vibe. Cheers. By the way, their craft beers do change, so it's fun to come back and taste something new every time.

Yelp
Came to this location rather than the escondido location and I was happily surprised. (Also note they mostly specialize in red wines. They have 1or 2 whites and rosés) $20 for 4 wine tasters of your choice. Also their kitchen menu is quite extensive which many choices, a bit on the pricey side. We got the spanish octopus and was sooo good. If you sit outside be aware that during the winter the sitting area is mostly shaded and a bit windy from the sea breeze. They have heaters and blankets you can use if you want. I definitely want to go to the escondido location as I hear the view is awesome and now I already know I like their wines!

Yelp
Needed a pit stop on the way to San Diego. Plenty of parking around. The Frose was good. The kale and quinoa salad was nice I think I could've done with a little less dressing though. I would come back to try their other food and drink.

Yelp
so since my last review,I am so pleased they added a Happy Hour menu! I asked Luke, the chef, to reconsider adding back the chicken Caesar wrap, so maybe he will! otherwise, the wine is always, always great...my new favorite is the Sequested Pinot Noir,,,,outstanding and soooo smooth. love the entertainment too. I am here way too often!!

Jonathan G.

Yelp
Great food with great staff that enjoy making you smile from chuck to Katherine and be Luke you'll have a great time

Yelp
My wife and I had a fantastic day date today, which was our first time visiting the place. We got there around 11:30, so the establishment was empty, but as noon approached, it began to fill up with foot traffic. The place was gorgeous, with great lighting and music that added to the ambiance. During our visit, Luke, who was a friendly and helpful staff member, assisted us. We had some delicious eats and tasted some excellent wine. Please excuse my half-eaten taco in the photo; I was too hungry and couldn't resist taking a bite before snapping the picture.

Yelp
I highly recommend Orfila, Oceanside! The staff always treat you like family, the food is amazing, and the entertainment and game nights are an added bonus!! This place is a hidden gem. If you are in the area, you must stop by for lunch dinner or just a snack. We always enjoy the wine as well!!

Yelp
This wine bar turned full service restaurant, is amazing! The food is so fresh and delicious, and the ambiance is a perfect blend of sophisticated wine bar, and laid back Oceanside beach restaurant. The staff is the friendliest I have ever experienced.

Yelp
A not so busy Sunday dinner with friends. I have a wine club membership and usually end up at the Escondido vineyard, but since we had a reservation in Oceanside we popped by for a quick meal and glass of wine. I ordered their soup of the day and it was delicious. Lots of clams and potatoes and the veggies were a nice touch. My boyfriend ordered the short rib flatbread and he was impressed with how good it was. Definitely wished we had the same options for food at the vineyard but coming out by the beach is also a nice get away

Yelp
We came in on a Saturday evening for a wine tasting flight and stayed for dinner. We did not feel rushed and had good service. We sat in the patio, where all the staff was helpful and friendly working together with our main server. We did not feel rushed and all and were able to take our time and enjoy the experience. It's pretty laid back so you may need to ask for your check which is fine with us. We got two wine tasting flights and were able to try eight different wines that way. Overall we didn't dislike anything from the flight but had our favorites of course. The food menu had decent limited options. I had the Filet which was good, but overcooked at a medium-well. I was expecting a bit more rare for a good cut of steak. The mussels were good and the sauce was key. They come with bread which you will need because you don't get a lot of the mussels. We also had a green salad that we liked quite a bit. Overall we had a really good experience. We look forward to coming back with the knowledge that the dinner menu is a bit pricy for what you get IMO.

Yelp
The food was amazing. I had the lamb chops. The live Jazz playing was also amazing. Chuck was very attentive to our needs. The wine was amazing.

Yelp
A wonderful tasting experience! Great red and white options for any wine lovers. Lots of seating, but make sure to get here early because it does get pretty packed. Live music Thursday-Saturday nights! I always go for the flight experience because it offers a great variety and it's a pretty good deal. The ambassador board plate pairs perfectly with a glass or a flight. My favorite portion of the board was pairing the pickled veggies with the different cheeses. A good board for 2-3 people. A fun place to hang out with a group of friends to enjoy wine and music right in downtown!

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Love love LOVE this place! Highly recommend visiting and sampling the fantastic menu! Especially love the Brussel sprouts!

Yelp
It had been many decades prior before I recently roamed the streets of downtown Oceanside. The sidewalks and gutters that used to be inundated with vast litter and the stench of urine now bloom with artisan pizza and truffle parmesan fries. It was that delicious aroma that lured me into the confines of Orfila. The outside seating can entertain you with a singer or you can opt for inside for a more quieter ambiance. The selection of wines for tasting are plentiful with various reds or whites. There is a vintage for every pallet for your preference. My group of 4 arrived what must've been a busy night for the kitchen. Our food orders of artichokes, burger, lobster bisque, and Flatbread came out slowly. Our server apologized for the passage of time between each dish but overcame the delay with outstanding personal service. The burger contained a patty with the thickness of a meatball but with the flavor that would rival any other gourmet sandwich; the best dish of all that was served. Orfila provides quality wines at a fair price and pairs it with food that can satisfy any hunger.

Caroline M.

Yelp
My husband and I have been members for years and we really love this place, especially the short rib flat bread and the crispy brussels sprouts! The reason for the lower rating is due to one of their newer servers. I believe his name is Stephen? He always has a smug look on his face and prefers to spend his time flirting with his female staff members than doing his job. He has zero sense of urgency and clearly hasn't been a server in the past since he can't seem to do more than one thing at a time. He will come over to our table once and then not come back to check on us and we always have to get one of the girls who are running around to help us out instead. We've given him a few chances but this past week we waited several minutes for him to come back to our table to take our order and he never did and when we finally called him over he said he didn't realize we'd been sitting there for that long. We have never had this issue with any of the other staff members and we do love it there and want to continue going but someone needs to teach this gentleman proper serving etiquette before he runs off your loyal customers.

I am a wine member here. Everything about Orfila is amazing...great wine, great food, and great service.

Yelp
Love this place! The wine, the atmosphere, great service!! Especially nice when there is music and food trucks! Although they do have a very nice variety of items to purchase in there refrigerators that go nicely with their wine!

Yelp
We recently visited the Oceanside location and were impressed. Although we kept hearing about the wine slushies, we opted for the Sangiovese Estate and the Petite Syrah - both excellent! For dinner we had the brussel sprouts, steak salad and Japanese sweet potatoes, as well as the Wild Mushroom Flatbread and cheeseburger. We would order everything again. Located in the heart of downtown at the corner of Pier View and Cleveland, they have a quaint outdoor patio for enjoying the beautiful weather with your meal. Looking forward to returning gand trying wine slushy.

Yelp
Went in on a Friday night and were sat immediately at the bar. Very bright and clean atmosphere and even though it was very packed and there was music you could still have a conversation. They just added draft beer and they have a solid lineup. My wife got a couple of glasses of their white wine blends and she enjoyed them very much. Got the lobster bisque, farmer's market fresh veggies and the prosciutto flatbread. All were amazing and would get again. The cheese board looks great too but the positions were large enough we couldn't fit that in our bellies. Great spot and Luke took amazing care of us!

Yelp
We just left this restaurant and I had to write a review. It was our first time there and we had a fantastic experience! The food was delicious, server couldn't have been better, and atmosphere was great. We are already excited to go back. Thanks for such a great time!

Yelp
Delicious fresh menu. Excellent friendly service. I'll be back casual fancy ambiance.

Yelp
Have gone to Orfila in Escondido which has a nice view. This place does not really have a view but service was great and being on the patio and people watch wasn't so bad . We opt to get the bottle for $38 rather than get 2 glasses of wine for $15 each, winning getting the bottle lol. The charcuterie board is a decent size for the price as I've seen many that cost more and less items, esp the meat. Would be back to try other items and do a flight tasting
google avatar

Yelp
We stopped in this afternoon for lunch and to pick up our OWL Club wines. My husband and I shared the crispy brussels sprouts and the mushroom flatbread, which were both delicious. Chef Luke took care of us, along with server Victor. Luke shared his method for creating the amazing sprouts, which I will not be making myself, but will definitely be ordering again next time I'm at Orfila! We've had lunch there before and ordered a variety of things, which were all great. But those Brussels sprouts prompted me to write this review.
google avatar

Hendel T.

Yelp
I like Orfila's wine - but to be honest, I'm no connoisseur and will happily drink just about any bottle put in front of me. What I *love*, what brings me back over and over, is the *food*. Chef Luke and his team are just amazing. There's genuinely nowhere we enjoy eating more.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped in here for wine and apps. We started with a bottle of Oregon Pinot that was paired nicely with the food we ordered. We chose 3 apps to try a few things. Filet Mignon Sliders, Prosciutto and Burrata Caprese, and the Brussel Sprouts as suggested by the waitress. The Caprese and Sliders were so good and unique, I've been anticipating going back just for those 2 items! However, the Brussel Sprouts were disappointing as they were way overcooked and tasted like it. Service was good even with it being busy when we were there and would recommend stopping by for a glass of wine and shareables!
google avatar

Douglas V.

Yelp
My Buddy Sully introduced me to this little hidden tasty wonderland. When he recommends a place I know that it's going to be fantastic and I was not disappointed. I have IBD and have a very restrictive diet and they we're more than eager to fit my needs and still blow my mind with delightful enjoyment. I had the cheeseburger with GF bread and it was the Bomb!!! The instance you bite into the delicious lean juicy ground beef, it hits you that this is premium quality. I couldn't have the Brussels sprouts but my friends did and DAYUM they looked and smelled amazing. Then to tie it all off they had options of GF desserts and I was instantly in heaven, YUM it's a hidden gem oh and the drinks are on point too

Yelp
We have been in the Oceanside area for two weeks and this has been our go to spot. My wife and I absolutely LOVE this place. The ambiance is super. We sit outside by the gas lamps for warmth in the evenings and have a glass of wine and then head home. The service is probably even better, if that's even possible. It's just a great place to hang for a bit and relax. They have live music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings which make things even better. I can't really speak to the food because that's not what we come from, however, the truffle fries and filet sliders are really good. We haven't had anything else. I suggest joining the wine club if you're going to come on a regular basis. Trust me...it pays for itself .
google avatar

Savanna V.

Yelp
Perfect spot for a date night with live music and heaters on the patio, and a wine bar inside! We ordered the octopus appetizer and mussels to share - definitely enough for two, and so tasty! And of course the wine selection is great. Although they didn't have the variety we were looking for, our server recommended some similar varieties that paired well with our food and we enjoyed. I'd love to come back for happy hour or dinner on the patio!

Yelp
Arrived for a meetup and the place was busy waited at the front for seating instructions and headed to the bar waiting and waiting and then a friendly guy behind the bar asked me what I wanted and I said a red beer and then the other guy who seemed the main bartender and who had completely ignored me told the nice guy that he cannot serve me I don't know why but did not explain to me what was going on so I just stood their like a fool and thought to myself I don't need this and I walked out, not sure what the problem is with that main bartender but very disrespectful may be a closet racist.

Erlene K.

Yelp
Me and my daughter came here there was a street singer amazing so this was right next to where she was singing so we thought we'd give it a try. We had the wine taster flight and the cheeseboard. It was a beautiful day and Chris was our server very nice.

Yelp
I want to start by saying food here is incredible. I've never had anything that wasn't a 10. I've been a member here for a while and I've introduced so many of my friends who now are members. We have all enjoying meeting up here except for our interactions with the Manager gal that's there. She always looks like she hates her job, and the way I've been talked to on multiple occasions has been rude and disrespectful. I'm not really sure how she got her position there, her costumer service is horrible and gives off a very negative vibe, which doesn't make it a very fun place to be. Myself and others have contemplated canceling because of her service. Other than her, the food has been amazing, the wine is great, and the service and atmosphere is amazing if she's not around :)

Yelp
Chris, our waiter, was very attentive to our needs this fine Friday evening. Our second visit and it was awesome

Yelp
This is one of our favorite places to go for dinner. We loved everything that we've had here. The pulpo, flatbreads, mussels, Brussels sprouts.... Everything is delish! My hubby loves the filet, my son loves the pasta and I got the salmon last night that was fantastic! We're wine club members so go at least once a month. If we lived closer we'd be there a lot more!! Definitely a must try in Oside.

Yelp
Spent our last night in Oceanside at Orfila and what a great choice. Cannot understand any ratings less than great. Katherine was our server and she was extraordinary. We loved the food and the 'steak and mushroom salad' was a delicious complete meal. J Brown Saxx played as the evening entertainment and had the crowd in the palm of his hands. Do yourselves a treat and try it out. We plan on coming back every year. Recommendation: heaters outside for the odd chilly evening

Yelp
After throwing myself off an electric bike earlier, all I wanted was a glass of wine and a light dinner. Wandered into this gem and sat on the patio to enjoy some peace and people watch. Weather was a little chilly but they had the heaters going and music flowing. Although I didn't have dinner, the charcuterie was amaze balls and the Pino Noir was exactly what I needed. I would be here nightly if I were local.

Yelp
Maybe we caught them on a bad night (street fair was happening as well) but we sat inside and they seemed much more intent on their patio patrons rather than those that were inside. The prosciutto margherita flatbread was great! Crunchy, delicious and with really good flavor. I had a flight of the whites (too hot for reds) and was a fan of only the ambassador Chardonnay and the Gewurtztraminer. I'm visiting from out of town, but my dining partners live here and will likely not return.

Yelp
Wow!!! Yummy food! We didn't order any wine but people around us seems to be enjoying themselves!! We did have a steak and mussels! Both were amazing. The steak was super tender and the mashed potatoes were incredible. The mussels were also very yummy in the pesto sauce!! Live music on the friday that we were there so, can't complain!! Try them out!! The food was delicious!!
