North Park’s Newest Brewery Restaurant Announces Head Chef and Brewer | Eater San Diego

"I'm intrigued by a new brewpub named for the original 40-acre parcel that became modern-day North Park, which is prepping to launch next month on University Avenue. Owners Steve and Patricia Billings, longtime area residents and proprietors of local bar fixture U-31, are aiming to bring a “next-level” brewery-restaurant to the neighborhood. Chef Luke Johnson, who formerly helmed the kitchen at Cutwater Spirits and has cooked in Michelin-starred kitchens from Spiaggia in Chicago to Melisse in Los Angeles, is crafting a menu that ranges from seasonal salads — including toasted Israeli couscous with shaved fennel, baby spinach, blood orange, radish, and cucumber in a citrus vinaigrette — to fresh pastas like sweet pea ravioli with crispy pancetta, mint froth, grated parmesan, and lemon essence; house beer will be used where applicable, incorporated into a mussel dish and into gougères (French cheese puffs). Lead brewer Christopher Scott Gillogly, whose resume includes time at Mikkeller, Green Flash, and Pizza Port and who most recently won a silver and bronze at the 2018 Great American Beer Festival while head brewer at Groundswell, will oversee a lineup that opens with 26 taps, at least 15 house beers, and styles from a hazy IPA to pilsner, blonde, Mexican lager, and double IPA." - Candice Woo

North Park’s Newest Brewery Restaurant Is On the Way | Eater San Diego

"Planned at 3117 University Avenue across the street from Billings’s long-running neighborhood bar, this project will repurpose a former church into a 4,000-square-foot, 85-seat full-service restaurant and brewery that is currently in the permitting process. Designer Mariana Postlethwaite of Tijuana’s Casa Duhagon is redesigning the space using a mix of copper, brick, and wood, with white quartz countertops, live greenery, and lounge seating; the plan calls for a visible brewery that can be seen from the dining room and a menu of elevated small plates, though Billings is still deliberating on a name." - Candice Woo

Google
Wandered into original 40 and ordered the Mexican lager and the west coast IPA. The hubs said it was the best IPA he's ever had. Ordered the poutine fries, the Korean BBQ flatbed, the BLAT and the Korean tacos. Everything was delicious. The atmosphere was a great vibe. The bathrooms were clean and cleverly decorated. Lots of great spaces to either socialize or work remotely.

Google
Very nice open air brewery with plenty of seating and plenty of beers to select from. All were food. Steak frites and mussels both were good entrees; good portion for what you paid. Pretzels was a good way to start off the meal. Definitely give it a try

Google
Good beer , Poutine fries were delicious, but just a suggestion. Add more meat for 16 dollar poutine fries. I paid the price and would expect more meat over the fries.

Google
Original 40 never disappoints! The burgers are packed with flavor, cooked perfectly, and come with great sides. You can tell the ingredients are high quality, and the menu has something for everyone. The vibe is chill, the service is fast, and the staff always make you feel welcome. Easily one of my favorite burger spots in town

Google
Original 40 is always such a great time! We had a blast having our holiday party here. They made it so easy and the staff was very helpful during the party. Everyone who came loved the food and drinks. This place is awesome and will be back again!

Google
Hosted my boyfriend’s 40th birthday here last night and could not of made for a better time! The staff, drinks and food were all incredible! The rooftop was the perfect size for my 28 guests!

Google
The Original 40 isn’t just a brewery. It’s a spiritual experience, and the high priests of this hoppy cathedral are named Joey, Cory, and Lexi. Joey could convince me to try literally any beer—even if it was brewed from pine needles and regret—and somehow it would still slap. Cory? This man doesn’t just pour beer, he delivers liquid prophecies. He’ll tell you what you’re drinking before you even knew you were craving it. And Lexi? Lexi radiates such chaotic good energy that I’m convinced she’s single-handedly responsible for keeping the earth spinning and the taps flowing. Every time I walk in, I feel like I’ve stumbled into the best sitcom that’s never been written, starring these three legends. I’d trust them with my bar tab, my weekend plans, and honestly my future children. The beer’s amazing, sure. But Joey, Cory, and Lexi are the real brew gods. Worship accordingly. 🍻✨

Right in the center of North Park, Original 40 Brewing Company offer a wonderful setting to catch up with peers and a great Tuesday evening trivia.

Yelp
Our first stop on the day. The food was so good and had really good flavor. Solid selection of beer and a really open space. Service was really thorough and quick.

Yelp
They canceled a beer pairing dinner on 11/6 without notice. We showed up and were told it was canceled "due to staffing issues." We never received a cancellation email, but did receive a reminder email 2 days prior. I carpooled with a friend for 40 minutes to get there, and another friend drove 90 minutes! We paid for parking as well. We were told refunds were ALREADY issued, but none of have been refunded yet and they DO NOT ANSWER THE PHONE. A round of beers on the house was offered for our troubles. Nice, but does not even cover parking. I cannot comment of the quality of the food or ambiance, because it was my first time there (and last). The beer was okay, we drank that round outside and then left to get food elsewhere.

Yelp
Parking isn't too bad on a weekday if you're willing to walk a block or so. There's still unmetered parking available, even though that's becoming rarer in SD. Original 40 is an airy, wide open space, which is good, since there isn't AC, and that can be uncomfortable on a hot summer day. However, cold beverages help, and the strawberry Moscow mule, which is on tap, was delicious and refreshing. Their beverage menu is extensive and includes choices like cider and sangria for those with gluten sensitivities. They also have a few nonalcoholic choices, which is good to know if you're designating a driver. Their bratwurst with peppers and onions was really good, with nice, grainy mustard, and came on a chewy roll that was perfect. Fries were spot on, too. Their menu also includes burgers and a variety of appetizers. As a first-timer, I found out that you order at the bar, your food will be brought to your table, and you can help out by bussing your space when you're done.

Yelp
The energy at this brewery was so good! My husband and I attended a Momo Craft club event last night. The fact that they were able to host all of us with good energy and fast service was truly remarkable. We didn't try the food but we ordered beer and wine. My husband enjoyed the Hold My Stuff DDH West Coast IPA AND I enjoyed the Niner Estates glass of wine. The red blend was recommended to me by the bartender. It was giving all around. Plus I love North Park!! You have to come here with your family and friends because it's also very spacious!
google avatar

Stephanie B.

Yelp
Super chill spot at the edge of north park to grab a drink and some snacks / food. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The vibe is very north park with greenery hanging from the ceiling fixtures and brick walls. It is a decent size space and tables are well spread out. Drinks: Beers were good, and they also have decaf cocktails and mocktails. Service: You order at the bar and get a number if you order food. The bartenders were friendly. Food: we ordered the all American cheeseburger with bacon and it was so good! I ordered a battered fish taco, which was nice and crispy, and the grilled vegetable board, which I really enjoyed as well. The grilled vegetable board and the cheese board would really be perfect afternoon snacks to enjoy while having some drinks!

Yelp
Such a fun atmosphere!! They do trivia on sundays and it's a nice large crowd. The beer selection is constantly changing so fun to try new stuff. The food is great too we got a pasta dish it was delicious. Great spot to meet people!!

Yelp
I've been going to Original 40 for almost 5 years now. The beer is top notch and is only rivaled by their food. Everything I've ever had to eat here is delicious, but the fish tacos, goat cheese dip, and Patou's Salad are at the top of my list. Their beer list is diverse and delicious and they also offer alcoholic kombucha, wine, and various non-alcoholic options including N/A beer. The ambiance is really open and changes depending on the day and who's working, which I think is a highlight. Their elevated patio in the back is absolutely wonderful for groups. The staff is attentive and friendly. You should definitely add OG40 to your list of places to visit.

Yelp
I recently visited Original 40 Brewin in NP, and it was a overall good experience. I tried their pineapple daiquiri, and wow -- it was strong! Definitely a bold cocktail, but makes for a solid choice since I didn't want a beer. The brewery is modern mixed with a bit of vintage and is very hip inside! Food wise, my group shared some poutine fries and their flatbread pizza. From the dinner menu, we got the Poutine Style French Fries and & Pesto Flatbread (their flatbread of the month according to the website). The fries were tasty, but leaned on the salty side, so I only had a few bites. As for the flatbread, the pesto was light, and the texture of the flatbread was too hard for my liking. It was tough to enjoy fully because it felt more like a cracker than a flatbread. The vibe of the place was fun and was perfect to celebrate my friend's birthday as there was tons of tables around and space. While the drinks are worth trying, the food was mostly the miss for me. I might give it another shot and try diff items next time! I would rate my experience and the drinks a 4/5!

Yelp
What a fun place to get together with your family. Every Sunday at 7pm they host trivia and it was so much fun. Host of the game is super engaging. As a family we enjoy game nights and since everyone is finally over 21 this place is perfect for some good beer, food and games. Place is big and beautiful too with many plants. Hope to return.
google avatar

Yelp
This brewery ROCKS! The beers are delish and they have a drink for everyone! I got a couple of IPAs and they were crisp, refreshing, hoppy, and finished well. They had an outdoor seating area that was up a small flight of stairs and it was great sitting up there as the sun set. They have indoor and outdoor seating. PARKING: We parked on the street. We didn't see a private parking lot but we found a spot nearby pretty quickly.
google avatar

Yelp
Perfect quick lunch bite! I was desperate for food but didn't want drive through junk, and lo and behold, OG 40 was on the other side of the BOA parking lot...Bratwurst and fries to the rescue! Best deal in the area for sure at only $11! The bartender was lovely, attentive and prompt. When I had to change my order to go, he pivoted seamlessly despite having to run service in the huge place virtually alone, and packed up my lunch without a hitch. The fries had the perfect crisp, the bread on the bun was perfectly toasted, and the brat was full flavor, topped with dijon mustard, juicy bell pepper and caramelized onions. Will def stop by again and make time to have a cider!

Yelp
This place is great, I recommend the food and the atmosphere. The owners are onsite for business and they take pride in their establishment. I feel like they do an excellent job for group events as well. Check it out.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is super cute, even the bathrooms. Love the vibe. Personally, I really enjoyed the beers. The kombucha drink was super tasty. The food was hit or miss. I was a little disappointed with the goat cheese salad but the burger was pretty tasty. I'd definitely come back and try some different options. Great for a group.
google avatar

Yelp
Really cool little spot. Accidentally came where there was an event, so was packed & very crowded sadly, however was able to snag a spot on the rooftop patio, so that was actually a blessing in disguise. Tried the German lager, and was very impressed. Really enjoyed how crisp & smooth it was. Also got some wings & they were ok, just wings. Would love to go back for more beer, but also try out other food & give it a shot. It's in North Park, so parking can be a bear, be prepared to pay or walk. Other than that, a fun spot!
google avatar

Jake R.

Yelp
Great beer selection. Very friendly staff with attentive service. I was asked by the bartender Mason, what I would like to drink right away. And he gave good recommendations based on my preference. With an open layout there is plenty of space for big or small parties. You can also see the brewing process done right in front of you. A good amount of patio space on a busy street makes for good people watching. I would recommend coming here to grab a bite or have some great beers. Good job Original 40

Yelp
Cute hipster brewery in NP. This one is a little bit off the beaten path - but well worth the stop. The inside is very nicely decorated and an outside patio (so bring the pup!). Excellent selection of barley sodas - the hazy IPA has a bite! Standard bar fare - but quite a few folks were ordering the charcuterie board to go with their brews.

Yelp
I've visited this place a few times for a beer. It's a spacious venue that also serves food. While I'm not a big fan of their craft beer, I haven't tried it in a couple of years so when I finish with Dry January I'll have to give it another shot! It looks like their reviews on Untapped have gone up! The location is excellent, but parking can be a real challenge. The staff are always super friendly. I stopped by tonight for Pitch-A-Friend, which was a really fun event with a great atmosphere. That said, it was uncomfortably hot inside, even with the doors open. Overall, it's a great spot to hang out. I haven't tried the food yet, but it always looks amazing!
google avatar

Yelp
Such a fun place! The food is also AMAZING!!! Went to a Pitch A Friend Event and it was so fun!

Yelp
I went on a Sunday evening to play their Trivia Night. It started at 7pm. We got to pick our team name. Questions were up on the TVs and you wrote down your answer and picked the amount of points for getting each question right. They had a variety of questions from geography to sports, etc. I had a lot of fun playing. Won a gift card for getting 3rd place. They had a great selection of beers and a large food menu. I tried the Grilled Vegetable Board, Ceviche Tostada, and Giant Bavarian Pretzel. It was all yummy! The pretzel was crispy on the outside and soft in the middle.
google avatar

Roxanne H.

Yelp
Came here for a star wars event and loved the vibes! Ambiance was great and even though it was super packed we still had a place to sit and the service was pretty quick. The drinks were tasty, and the food we had was pretty decent. Street parking is limited but you can usually find something if you circle the block for a bit and see someone leaving. Great casual place to mingle and grab a beer!

Yelp
Every time I come to Original 40, Joey, Cory, and Lexi make the experience absolutely top-notch. They're the perfect mix of friendly, knowledgeable, and just plain fun to be around. Whether it's recommending the right beer, keeping the vibes high, or making you feel like a regular even if it's your first visit, they absolutely crush it. Joey brings the energy and always makes sure everyone's having a good time. Cory is super knowledgeable about the beer list and makes great recommendations every time. And Lexi has such a welcoming personality--you can tell she genuinely cares about giving guests a great experience. The beer is great, but honestly, it's people like Joey, Cory, and Lexi that keep me coming back. Huge shoutout to the dream team at Original 40!

Yelp
First stop when we got to San Diego. It was near our Airbnb and we were hungry and tired from traveling. Grabbed a couple of drinks and a quick bite. We ordered the short rib tacos to share and a couple of pints. The tacos were alright, but felt like I was missing salsa (could be the Texan in me). It was a chill spot and the staff were friendly. Nice little neighborhood brewery
google avatar

Audrey L.

Yelp
Stopped in here after the Padres game for a drink! I opted for the Bivouac cider. I really loved it! We decided to sit on their rooftop deck. The chairs are super comfy and the umbrellas help keep you cool and out of the sun. We decided to order the ceviche and it was incredible! I love ceviche but this might be one of my new favorite spots to get ceviche from! The staff were super friendly and next time I'm in the area, I'll definitely be stopping by!
google avatar

Lisa M.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the ambiance of this brewery, with an open front wall to let the breeze in, high ceilings and chill bartenders. We grabbed a beer on tap and a cider, which were both great - the cider wasn't too sweet and I was glad they had a hard seltzer and a couple of draft cocktail options too since I'm not a beer drinker and appreciate having some options if the cider isn't my jam. It was $8 for the beer and $9.50 for the smaller cider, they don't list prices so in case an idea of general cost is helpful - it'd be good if they had those available as a small opportunity to improve. Very clean spot and great location!
google avatar

Christina M.

Yelp
Service was good, beer was good and it has a great vibe to it. They have a small outdoor seating area and an indoor seating area. I ordered the Juice Maze, which was a Hazy IPA and it was good. They serve food which I will be back to try. Reasonably priced. We paid $17 for two beers.

Haylee R.

Yelp
Ok. I'd like to start by saying I've previously enjoyed The Original 40. My husband and I used to live walking distance from this place, and we enjoyed going from time to time. But we were there on Halloween, around 6:30 or 7pm, and one of the guys working was absolutely shit-faced drunk. At first I thought that he was an employee who was done with his shift... I was shocked when he began pouring beers for costumers as he slurred and was slightly unsteady on his feet. He was trying to be nice, but he was making people uncomfortable. He was kissing the feet of this baby, and the parents were being nice, but you could tell it was awkward. They were with a guy who had a dog, and the drunk employee was talking to the dog, saying he loved it, and when he went to kiss it, he nearly ended up kissing its owner instead. He then proceeded to talking about "fucking his girlfriend." It was WILD. We would have stayed longer, but we had to get out of there. It was too much. It was the most unprofessional behavior I've seen in a very long time. Having a beer or two while working at brewery is no big deal to me. But this was crazy. If I was the owner, I'd be mortified. YIKES.
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
This is the third time I've been here. First time was me just walking by during my first few weeks after I moved to the city. Came in for one beer on a Thursday early afternoon. Second time was for a meetup that they hosted on a Wednesday night. Third time was around 1030pm on a Saturday night. Minus the meetup, each time there was about 10 people. So not overly business but a solid buzz in the room. On a busy street in North Park, this is the spot to go to if you're looking for something lowkey. It's never too many people. It has a pretty decent selection of beers. Staff serves with a nod and smile. And overall the vibe is chill. No one is coming in here looking like they are ready to club but it's also not divey or grungy.
google avatar

Jennifer H.

Yelp
Came to here to start my fake but real 3rd annual beer walk fest and so glad I did. I had their events manager block off their upper patio for my friends and I to use. We got to try a few of their beers including their micheladas. We wanted to fuel up and glad we did cause we had 6 other breweries to go to. Thanks for making this event a little extra special. Who knows maybe I'll include this spot again for next year.
google avatar

Yelp
The Original 40 Brewing Company is a brewery and new kitchen serving new American fare in a chic, modern, industrial setting. SERVICE Quick - even while the place was hosting a big private party. FOOD 5/5 poutine style French fries: Beer cheese dollops and gravy drenched shredded short rib atop house made fries 5/5 Pretzel: Crispy, soft pretzel with savory salt crystals, sides of spicy mustard and beer cheese dips DRINK 5/5 Dragon fruit and mango Kombucha: Balanced, fruity, and effervescent PARKING street spots are available

Yelp
If a customer wants to engage in a transaction and is willing to pay, please do not ignore this customer and socialize with non-transactional customers I know your generation doesn't like capitalism, but it has worked for a long time This happened in both exchanges when trying to order
google avatar

Dana R.

Yelp
I went here a couple Fridays ago with a group of work friends. We were able to find a seat for all of us, but it was pretty crowded. They have a good selection of entrées. I got the grilled cheese and it was very good. I wish I took a photo of it because it was that good. They have some interesting cocktails aside from beers. So if beers aren't your thing, they've got you covered. The staff was so attentive, professional, kind. They weren't pretentious at all, which is my opinion of several other brewery type places I've been to. We parked in the Bank of America parking lot, which you have to pay for, but on a Friday evening, it is hard to find parking out in North Park. It's directly behind the restaurant so that was convenient.
google avatar

Roya J.

Yelp
Way better than the spot down the street. Good vibes and friendlier service with a better selection of in-house made beers. This place should be on the top 15 SD breweries! Wait, maybe not so it stays pure lol. They also have cool t-shirts!
google avatar

Jenn R.

Yelp
A great hang out spot for you and your friends. Beer is brewed in house and you get to hang out right next to the beer brewing equipment. Don't skip out on the food because it's delicious. Jumping into the details... THE FOOD ELABORATION. - OG Burger | Beef patty with lettuce, red onion, tomato, white cheddar cheese, and garlic aioli. I honestly wasn't expecting much, but this burger was absolutely delicious... it's the juicy, savory beef patty, creamy garlic aioli, and melted white cheddar cheese that did me in. Served with a side of perfectly cooked house cut french fries, I was completely impressed with this dish. Highly recommend. THE VIBE EVOCATION. Chip & Joanna Gaines, country rustic industrial re-purposed hangar vibes. The bar has beautiful black & white mosaic tile splashed across the side panel and extends out to the front of the restaurant where more bar seating is available. Roll-up doors allow for fresh air to flow through. A huge suspended circular plant stand is filled with a variety of greenery whose stems trail down. It's a beautiful focal point and really softens the interior space. As a result, the vibe is casual and homey. THE PARKING AFFAIR. I parked at the Bank of America parking lot located in the back, adjacent from the restaurant. There's a parking station which goes into effect after banking hours. 0-2 hrs is $5 and 2-9 hrs is $7. I didn't have an issue finding an open spot. Street metered parking is available too. And if you're willing to do this, you can try parking on residential streets for free. THE RESERVATION DETERMINATION. No reservations offered; it's first come, first served. THE RETURN QUANDARY. If I'm in the North Park area, I'd definitely return. The atmosphere is relaxing, food is tasty, and beer is flowing.

Yelp
Met friends here and The open feel was great! Music playlist was enjoyable . The fish taco with the fresh salsa was wonderful. Friends enjoyed the beer and fancy drinks! Will come again.

Yelp
I love this brewery in North Park! This past week I tried Rafiki's Ritual. Delicious, so much so that I went back for a second pour. My favorite item on the food menu is the chili! The owner and the staff there are always very friendly, and welcoming to the puzzling community that has an event their monthly. I also enjoy being able to support a small business not far from where I live.
google avatar

Cindy L.

Yelp
The cocktails are on tap so just be aware of that if you are use to bartenders mixing you up a cocktail. It isn't the best but this place is a brewery so let's be honest, if you come here it would be for the beer. I am a cocktail type of gal so I do come here because my friends likes the beer here. The food here is good though, definately got to give it a try

Ray B.

Yelp
We love coming here but this pizza I was served was disgraceful. It needed to be cooked for at least 5 min longer. Just disgusting. The whole table laughed like it was being served as a joke. Other than that we love coming here for beer.
google avatar

Armani H.

Yelp
Really great spot for happy hour. They have $5 select beers. The Baja burger was great with avocado and siracha aioli. Plenty of seating inside, the front and back patio. The staff is really friendly and welcoming.
google avatar

Macarena O.

Yelp
I had the best experience here! I called to make reservations to give my husband a little get together surprise with some friend and since the first moment they were so kind and accommodating. We got fries, wings, beers and ciders and everybody loved both the drinks and the food. When we were ordering drinks they let us try before buying to make sure we liked what we ordered. It's dog friendly - they will make you pup feel so welcome! They even gave us a little scarf for our dog to wear. The inside of the brewery is so cute too! I would definitely recommend it. Don't miss out!
google avatar

Mayra G.

Yelp
The service is always top notch here and beers are great! They have cute decor and nice open space. We've had dinner a few times in the past and highly recommend.
google avatar

Darcie J.

Yelp
I love the vibes here and the bartenders are super friendly! Seating options aren't the most comfortable - lots of backless stools with a few exceptions spread throughout the building! Food was decent for bar food but nothing overly exciting! We'll be back for drinks but probably not food!

Yelp
Finally checked out the Sunday Trivia nights hosted at Original 40 and it's so fun and awesome that we will be regulars attending. We've only gotten beers and not any food (except for the fries which are good) here. All the beers I had were great. Specifically the Mojave Sunset which is their prickly pear sour. This is a must get everytime and I hope they never remove it! A little tart, a little fruity, and a little almost candy-like, this drink is so good. Also the Porter Time, Excellent! was.... Excellent! A very balanced beer where it's a good balance of that caffeine taste and alcohol. The servers were really nice and even came to wipe up a mess we made with our drinks. Sorry about that lol. The trivia ambiance and is super chill and fun too. The trivia host has really great questions and is engaging for everyone.

Yelp
The staff is amazing. Very friendly, and accommodating. The food is delicious as well. If you are in the area, it's worth a stop.

Yelp
One of my favorite micro breweries in SD! Love the chill vibes there and love the dog friendly patio they have great selection of beers on tap including kombuchas, seltzers, even cocktails I asked the bartender to give us the omakase style beer flights and everything was so tasty. my favorite was the mojave sunset, a prickly pear sour I was SO impressed by their food. usually I don't have high expectations in brewery foods but they changed my mind. - GOAT CHEESE DIP 10/10 super creamy and the romesco sauce adds good amount of spicyness - BABY BACK ADOBO RIBS 12/10 you must get this! the meat just fell off from bones and it has great adobo taste. super soft + juicy. @eatmashimaro filipino approved lol - BACON POTATO FLATBREAD 8/10 this was the flavor of the month so we gave it a try. overall it was a yummy flatbread but i wish the sauce base was not marinara (maybe white sauce or sour cream?) the vibe is super chill and the staff are so friendly. if you're in north park, stop by for delicious beer + food!

Yelp
This may become one of our new go to spots to enjoy a drink and some tasty food. We didn't eat anything this time but the menu was very enticing even after a big breakfast. Though this place is called 40 Brewing they do also have a wine, some ciders, and a couple pre batched cocktails as well so everyone has something to enjoy. This spot is dog and kid friendly and has a great space for a group inside or outside. It wasn't too busy on a Saturday afternoon so we just grabbed some drinks at the bar including a flight of beers to try out a few. We definitely want to come back and try some food on our next visit!

Yelp
This brewery was so delicious!! I was lucky enough to go during restaurant week so they had a really great deal! It was a three course meal for $26 and with the beer pairing was an extra $12. The beers were very delicious, I tried their hazy IPA, Mexican lager and their raspberry beer! For my meal I got goat cheese dip, then OG burger, and finally the Nutella wontons. All of it was SCRUMPTIOUS. There was a bit of a wait because it was their first time participating in restaurant week. The staff was very nice and accommodating. They even gave us 10% off because of the wait! We also ended up getting a beanie from the restaurant and it had such a cute stitch.
