Original Big Tomato

I got the chopped salad in bread bowl with mushroom and brie soup. The cheese bread that came with the soup was a great touch. Of course I had to try the cookies too. I got one chocolate chip and one toffee chocolate chip. Perfect dessert. Looking forward to trying another one of your delicious salads next time I come to the area. Wanted to try something new and very glad that I did. Great job and look forward to ordering again from you when I come back.

Went here to pick up some pizza for My family and the lady that helped me her name was Nettie Was extremely rude and unprofessional. I told her the prices were different online to what she was charging me and she said I don't care that's what our prices are. Just very unprofessional when I was just trying to ask a question. I would never go here again just because of how rude she handled the situation. Will never recommend this restaurant to anyone now!

Original Big Tomato has been around for years and the pizza really is good!One of my favorite pizzas ever! Thick crunchy crust with delicious fresh toppings. I've only ordered carry out however there's a small dining area. It's inside a little strip mall on the side of US1, small parking lot but I've never had an issue finding a spot.

We catered food from here and it was phenomenal! We had two large salads. One Caesar and the other was with black olives, tomatoes, cucumber, mozzarella etc. Then we also had a variety of sandwich wraps. The cookies..... oh the cookies... delicious. Everything was fresh and the delivery young lady was efficient with setting up. I most definitely would be delighted to have this food catered in again. Enjoy!

I really enjoyed the food from this place. I ordered it for catering for my job and I am used to not getting the best quality with large quantity foods so I was happy to see how good everything looked. The caprese panini was delicious and everyone else liked the paninis as well. I didn't try the wraps since most of them had meat but they did look really fresh. Also the gourmet cookies were to die for!

I love big tomato. I've always found this to be my go to pizza. I always get the same thing, a 10" cheese pizza or pepperoni. As well as sometimes get the Caesar Salad which is one of my favorite salads! Unfortunately recently their quality has decreased as well as the customer service. I placed a delivery order for a 10" cheese pizza and the entire dough was completely raw. I complained through Uber eats. But I also decided to call the restaurant just to give them a heads up that the entire pizza was raw and their response made the entire situation worse. The lady that answered the phone apologized then proceeded to blame me for asking for extra cheese and that it was the reason the dough was undercooked. Then suggested that I made a request for the pizza to be well done in the future. I didn't need my pizza to be well done, I just needed it to be cooked thoroughly. I have ordered the same thing for a long time and this has never been an issue. So blaming the customer for a restaurant issue was not acceptable. A simple apology would've sufficed.

The food was delicious and the service was excellent. She remembers what drink I had the last time and it truly made me feel welcome and special.

My first job was a teller at Ocean Bank located in Kendall and 109 ave, during that era of my life I used to order amazing pizzas from the Big Tomato. They closed and I found out that they moved to Pinecreast and decided to relive my college year and order a pie with my usual topping black olives. I picked it up and and ate it but sadly it was not the same. They still had it chewy tips but the bread was too thick and not crunchy. I am glad I tried it one more time, but sadly not like their glory days.

Unique and super tasty pizza that is always full of fresh made flavor! I have been a loyal customer for years. But, just recently, with my diagnosis and the cauliflower crust craze, I am a SUPER FAN! They make any of their pizzas on the yummy and crunchy gluten free crust; very much like a toasty flatbread. The Cauliflower crust I choose for a great low carb option. It's not as crunchy as the GF, but for a cauliflower-crust, it's a lot crunchier than anything else I have had. My husband had a new sandwich, the Turkey Pesto Panini. He loved the pesto flavor and the crunch of the bread. I change it up a lot. The Margherita is a usual order for me. Tonight, I chose the Italian and it might just replace the Margherita for 1st place. The sausage has a nice kick and the pepperoni was really fresh. We picked up tonight, but their delivery service is top notch. Customer service just tops off the delicious food. Even though they were slammed and less than an hour to closing time, the lady who took our order was extremely nice. I love this place!

Really poor quality Pizza made by non-pizza cooks. Poor selection of beverages. Uncomfortable seating. Staff couldn't be more disengaged. This business is clearly on its way out

This spot has been a pizza staple for my family since I was little. My go-tos are the pepperoni pizza, mushroom bisque soup, and the turkey rollers. They have a lot of great options when it comes to unique pizzas.

Growing up in the Pinecrest area, the Big Tomato has been a long time favorite for me and my family go-to spot for pizza. It definitely is my favorite local pizza joint and the only place in the area where I'll eat deep dish, Chicago-styled pizza. The Big Tomato is doing everything about pizza right! They have every topping you can think of and creative mixes of these toppings you really can't find anywhere else. A Thai pizza or Mexican pizza? Sound gross? Its absolutely delicious! I ordered the Santa Fe Sensation: salsa, chicken, fresh tomatoes, jalapeños, mozzarella, parmesan and gorgonzola. And if you like more classic pizzas their Margherita isn't the typical and one of my favorites; pesto, fresh tomatoes, sweet onions, artichokes, gouda and parmesan cheese. If you're not in the mood for pizza they also have fantastic paninis and salads served in fresh bird bowls that can also serve as a heart but healthy lunch! We called today at 10:30 to place order very nice lady took are order we order everyday from there we have been waiting 2 hours for a couple of salads to come in and we order early cause drs need to go back in to surgery so we called and this lady that answers the phone at 11am so rude hangs up on us and when we call back she ignores are call she has always been really rude on the phone to us and we order everyday from u guys you need to get rid of her fast she has bad attitude bad customer services wow and I think she is the manger Delivery guy is super nice amazing

Disappointing. I had it delivered via Postmates. It was poorly packaged. Pizza was soggy and uneventful. Salad was dressed and sparingly. Literally spent $30 on a pizza and salad and threw away the pizza.

Came here for a quick bite to eat. I have passed this place for years and never stopped to try it. My SO and I shared a cheese pie. The first thing I noticed when we got our pie was the amount of grease pooled at the top. I am not talking just a bit...I am talking about a significant amount. I took lots of napkins and proceeded to blot as much as I could off of it. I feel guilty enough about eating pizza! After that it was just plain goodness. It was cheesy and saucy. The crust was on the thicker side and had a nice crunch and chew. The other items on the menu sound really good. Looking forward to going back and trying some.

This place has been around for over two decades, at one point they were trying to expand into franchising, but unfortunately it never took off, and this place remains a hidden gem in a quiet strip plaza. My hubby prefers thick crust pizza, and with limited choices in Miami, this place is as good as it gets. I love how the toppings and cheese go all the way to the edge, so there's no leftover crust. In fact, the crispy bottom and the baked cheese at the edge is so delicious! Besides the usual suspects of toppings, this place has out-of-ordinary pies like Jamaican jerk, Tangy Thai, (used to have a Taj Mahal too) before such things are popular. The pies arrive piping hot at your table, and even as we cut apart the last slices, we can see smoke coming out. For beverage, they have a cooler with the usual soft drinks, plus Boylan soda, Arizona iced tea, Honest Tea, and more. Over the years, I think this place has changed hands several times, and the decor updated once in a while. It used to be a 5 stars for me, though I never get to write a review, but now it's more a four - the pies are slightly less flavorful - I think it's the ingredients they use, and the operator just not as personable.

The whole reason I wanted to come here is because I read the rave reviews about the whole wheat crust, so I come here . . . AND FORGET TO ORDER THE WHOLE WHEAT CRUST!!! Ugh, of course!!! I was starving, though, and a little overwhelmed by the options! Still, my husband & I decided on a 10" "most popular" and took a seat. I believe we got our pizza in under 10 minutes or so, which was great. I do think that almost $10 is a little much considering the size of the pizza, but it's made fresh, totally customizable and tastes really good! We will be back and next time I will remember to order the whole wheat crust! Oh & they have a M-Th lunch special from 3-5pm that is only $5, which is a much better price! Great deal!

Worst pizza ever! Do yourself a favor and buy a frozen pizza from a supermarket. Called to complain and the customer service matched the quality of the pizza, don't recommend at all total waste of money

It's been way too long since I've been here. So last night I told my husband that we're having pizza for dinner tomorrow from the Big Tomato. I picked up two pies on my way home. I got a cheese pizza and a Santa Fe pizza. Both 10 inches. The cheese pizza was only $5 because they have a special on Monday through Thursday from 3-5 pm where a 10" cheese pizza is only $5 and a 10" pepperoni pizza is only $6!! I see a lot of pizza in my future. I had no idea about this awesome deal until today! I told my teenage son so that he can come with all his friends. It's a great deal & the pizza is delicious!!

I have eaten at this Big Tomato at least 20 times over the years, maybe more & can honestly say I have never had a bad pizza from them. Whenever I get tired of the boring generic pizza places I come here. As mentioned by a fellow yelper, it's not Chicago Deep Dish, it's Miami Deep Dish! The pizza is great & has a taste unlike any other pizza I have had before. I love the cheese, the crust, & the portion sizing. This location is very clean & the staff is very friendly. For a healthier choice, give the wheat crust a try. A heads up, they don't just do pizza. Take a look at their menu, they have a whole lot of wraps & panini style choices as well as soups.

I should not be eating this bread bowl but I can't resist! This place is amazing, never had the pizza but the salads are always delicious and fresh. I love their lemon vinagrette .. SO GOOD! Cant resis the bread bowl even though I should.. but whatever, a little carbs never killed any one

Have not eaten here in 4 or 5 years. We always use to love the pizzas and salads. Tonight I ordered the Caesar salad with grilled chicken and a pickle one the side. Everything had a very sour taste, even the pickle didn't taste right. The best part of the meal tonight was the bread bowl. As far as the chicken there wasn't much at all. Will be calling tomorrow morning to explain. Sadly, was very disappointed.

The Pizza and salad are exceptional! However the Customer Service is dreadful. The counter person was rude, impersonal and demeaning. No personal public relations skills. I will not waste my time sharing the story! When I left The Big Tomato I felt awful! And sprayed by a skunk! I was so excited to visit since it had been years since I was in the neighborhood. The old owner was friendly and welcoming. I probably will not go back since I do not wish to be treated poorly! The food speaks for itself if you can deal will a person who is rude!

Very disappointed to find out the Miami Springs location maybe one of the victims of Covid hopefully you could re-open to the general public soon. But in the meantime was near the second location by Pinecrest and stopped for my regular turkey Panini & pineapple pizza.

THEY should at least give free garlic bread if they're gonna make people wait 50 minutes in the lobby without saying anything ... While I'm here waiting .. one person who ordered by the phone, came to pick up and they didn't even had started their order , he left without food or paying. It really suckss... no refunds...

Awful, awful experience! Came by for lunch and the lady at the front was the absolutely WORST! First, she talked to you like you're being a bother. I understand that it's busy, but I'm your customer and you can at least greet me. Secondly, I ordered the "traditional" pizza with GF crust. She didn't give me the detailed receipt so I assumed she got it right. She came back and gave me a pizza with large tomato chunks and pineapple which I hate hot pineapple. She goes and says "that's what you told me." No it's not! I know exactly what I ordered and I would never order the "original" with pineapple. I always get the traditional. I ask her just to pack it up bc I'm sure there's someone on the street that could eat it. She goes and complains to the other people working there that I ordered the wrong pizza. No ma'm you placed the wrong order. Also, I asked for her to share the wifi password and you couldn't even understand what she said because of her attitude. Absolutely ridiculous. I spent $18 for NOTHING! 20 minute wait and 5 minutes of rude and inexcusable attitude. After having such a great first experience I will NEVER come back here again. I suggest that the owner find someone who actually likes to talk to people and focuses on customer service because you're going to lose more customers with her around. Done.

Small place for BIG appetites! The pizzas are stacked with ingredients, full of flavor and quickly prepared. Lots of options too with creative twists like Thai pizza! These people get cheese-lovers because the pies are ooey gooey goodness. Casual hole-in-the-wall kinda joint that can quickly and easily become your go to place for paninis, wraps, salads in bread bowl and of course, pizza. Delish!

It's a pie, not a pizza! At least that's what the menu said. These are kinda like a cross between regular Italian pizza and Chicago Deep Dish. They are baked in pie shells so they are thicker than normal but not so dense like an Uno's. There is some crunch to the crust and lots of chew too. Dab off the grease on top where it has conveniently pooled and you are good to go. The sauce is slightly sweet and fresh. Tons of baked cheese and that crust. What's not to love. They make other things, sandwiches, soups salad and such. One day I will try one.

Wow, Original Big Tomato was definitely fabulous. Little touches are nice. Incredibly yummy and healthy. The workers are very attentive and friendly. They're very good at giving recommendations. I will definitely come back to Original Big Tomato for more.

There's SOMETHING about their pizzas that I really like. I've been to Big Tomato in Pinecrest twice now for take out. I have been extremely satisfied both times. On my last visit I ordered: - Triple Cheese Pizza (10"): - Pepperoni Pizza (10"): Both pizzas were awesome, there's something about them that I can't exactly put my finger on that I enjoy so much. Big Tomato pizzas are one of my top choices for pizzas. They're not deep dish and they're not new york style... they're somewhere in between. -Jalapeno and Cheese Mini-Loaf: Plenty of Jalapenos, nice and spicy. Also has plenty of cheese. -Cheese and Herb Mini-Loaf: Packed with gooey cheese. The min loafs are frickin awesome! They're under $4 but they're so thick and full of cheese. The mini loafs are a great value, i'm a huge fan of those. - Reese's Peanut Butter Pie- This was amazing. The only downfall was the small ass slice that it is sold in. I HATE small ass portions.. and this cheesecake was a small ass portion. But the flavors were so frickin good I want to order it again. Supposedly they get this pie form somewhere in Coral Springs. The lady in the front was rather rude when I asked if they made their desserts in house or ordered them from somewhere. She mentioned twice with attitude they just get it from "somewhere in Coral Springs". Could't even verify if they ordered it from a bake shop or something? Just... "somewhere in Coral Springs".

I forgot how good the big Tomato is! I used to go here in high school to enjoy their salads and pizza. It's awesome to see that their respect for quality has not been compromised. Their pizza is deep dish chicago style and absolutely delightful, loved by kids and adults. Can we talk about their fresh salads in the home made bread bowl and their house made dressing???? I could drink that Italian dressing like a glass of water and the bread is chewy and fresh. Love this place, I need to come by more often.

Oh yes!! The Big Tomato has the best big, fat, thick, cheesy pizzas!! Carbs are love!! We've ordered pizzas to go many times in the past. Luckily, I never had to deal with the Nasty Neddie that the other reviews referred to. I've had good service and only good vibes from Big Tomato. Today, we tried a Caesar Salad in a bread bowl tossed in a delicious, lemony, anchovy dressing - which is rich in flavor, yet still light. We also had the Bikini Panini - a BIG yummy sandwich with avocado, tomato, artichokes, pesto, sprouts, mozzarella and Gouda cheeses. However, the star of our lunch today was the roasted tomato soup!!!! Ahhhmazing....chunks of hearty tomatoes swimming in a smooth, savory broth! It was a perfect dip for my Bikini Panini!! Again, I have only had good experiences at Big Tomato. The only reason I give it four stars instead of five is because it's rather pricey.

Definitely a well hidden gem. Today was my first experience eating a this place. What a great experience! First of all, my girlfriend used a birthday certificate and was able to get not a small pizza, but a large multi topping pizza! The food is outstanding! The pizza is thick crust with tons of cheese. The staff is very courteous and provide excellent service! The seating is a bit tight so if you're scared of strangers you may want to order take out. Great experience and great food!

The pizza was great - my family got the "deep-dish" pizza (which seems to be the standard thickness) and they really enjoyed it! I got the gluten-free pizza and also really liked it. The only reason why I gave them 4/5 instead of 5/5 is because it took over TWO HOURS to get our pizza delivered. Absolutely ridiculous, but we are in a pandemic so I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt!

The food at Big Tomato is delicious! ! It does take a while for the food come out, but that is because it is very fresh. No complaints here! I do recommend calling your order in ahead of time. I love their salads, paninis and pizza pies!

Hands down best pizza place in South Miami. Delicious Pizza but lacking little in customer service. Sitting area is very small. they use plastic utensils and paper plate. I traveled the world and they have the best Pizza. I keep going back for their delicious Pizza even though they suck in customer service. Just give me my pizza...

More of a pan pizza than a deep dish, but quite good. Just a few tables in a small shopping strip and not very busy on a Monday night.

Salads, delish pizza,roll ups and soup. My favorite is the "Big Tomato Chef Salad" which is served in a terribly delicious bread bowl and with lemon herb garlic, this is the best salad I know. The mushroom Brie bisque is so flavorful and creamy - I'm not a soup person and I love this soup. They have a variety of soft drinks (my fav is the IBC root beer in a bottle). The service is not lightening fast But everything is made fresh in the kitchen and it's worth it. They are located in pinecrest and do deliver.

This is great food, BUT terrible lady on the phone. At my job we order from this place weekly and lately we have been having a lot of problems! Today was the breaking point and we will no longer be ordering from this establishment. I called them because the food was supposed to be delivered at 11:15 and it was 11:30 and we only have a 30 minutes lunch so it needs to be on time which they know. The lady attacked me over the phone and would not let me speak. She was just screaming saying she could not get the order out at the time it was scheduled for. The online menu even offers the delivery for 9:30 for when they are not even open. What a bad one!! Never AGAIN.

This is my go to place when I don't want to cook and/or there are no groceries in my house. This little treasure in the heart of pinecrest is where you want to go if you're in the mood for delicious gourmet pizzas. If pizza with red sauce gives you heart burn like it does me, then you have GOT to try the Pesto Passion Pizza with Gorgonzola, pesto and mozzarella. Out of control. If red sauce doesn't reek havoc on the lining of your stomach then the megabite pizza is def the way to go. Now, the unsung hero of this place is their panini selection. My favorite is the Turkey Supreme and the sauce that comes with it. WOW. But all of their paninis are great.

I don't understand why this got several positive reviews. I have had excellent pizza from Chicago top notch pizzerias called Giordano's, Lou Malnati's, and UNOs pizza. I also make great dish pizza myself. This place got me very disappointed. The mozzarella they use is low quality, the bread is not to flavorful, toppings quality such as sausage is bad as well. The only positive thing that I can give is the fluffiness of the bread. Unfortunately, I will not come back to this place. I wish you guys the best.

I love this pizza . If you're in the mood for a thick, well- baked pie, then look no further. There's no crust on these pizzas which works great for me because I'm not a crust eater. Usually I would go for a thin crust but there's something about this pie that keeps me coming back for more. The prices are great and if you're being healthy , well then grab a salad boule. The fresh baked bread will be hard to avoid but it's big enough to share. Don't forget to get an extra dressing ! One isn't enough. The lemon one is great and I like to mix it with the raspberry vinaigrette. I've tried a few pies here and honestly the simpler the better. You can't go wrong with the traditional and the original. The place is small so keep an eye out for it on US1 because once you pass it, it's Hard to make a u turn. It's been around for years, go stop by and see why.

Small, cute, individually sized pizzas. Good for a quick fix of PAN pizza that isn't from Pizza hut. Although this place seems to be mainly for take-out, they do have a few tables inside. I had the Veggie pizza and it was just ok. Maybe I should've just stuck with a traditional cheese pizza.
