Where To Stop On Your Road Trip From LA To Vegas - Los Angeles - The Infatuation
"Yes, the actual original Del Taco opened down the road in Yermo and we don’t care. That one bit the dust years ago and the 51 year-old Barstow location is now considered Del Taco #1. Hallelujah. Sure, there’s a squeaky clean Del Taco right by the highway in Barstow but what fun is that? It’s jam-packed and NOT THE OLDEST SURVIVING DEL TACO IN THE WORLD. Drive the extra five minutes into town and pay homage to stoner history. Pro Tip: Tell your cashier friend to “Go Bold” and you’ll be getting fries and special sauce added into every item you ordered. Life is beautiful." - brant cox
This is such a cool stop! It is the original Del Taco, built in 1961. The owner was super friendly and welcoming. The carne asada burrito and crunchy taco were delicious! This should be a stop on your trip through this area!

Stopped off here on route from Las Vegas to Los Angeles, Richard and his lovely mum served us. They were closed for two months but have just opened up again.
The atmosphere was so welcoming and Richard took his time telling us about the area and places we could go to for the rest of our time in America.
The food was amazing and made with such care, highly recommend the food. Its worth a stop.
Thanks Richard and we hope the business thrives again after your reopening!

This place is definitely overlooked by everyone who just keeps going down the highway. Stopped at the exit before to check out a store everyone was recommending but found myself underwhelmed by the stale $9 gummy worms.
I kept driving to check out the Original Del Taco and am really happy with my decision.
The food was awesome, the portions were generous and the cost was super reasonable. Just make sure you have cash on you.
Richard took our order and was super polite and helpful.
I am definitely adding this place as a stop when traveling highway 15 from now on

Stopped by the gas station up the street and decided to drive the block to check this place out. Food prices are great and far more reasonable than anytime in the area.
Plenty of parking and picturesque views of the nearby mountains.
I would recommend going to Eddie's world for the restroom and stopping by here for food.

When you talk about hole in the wall this is definitely that place. There were a few CHP officers eating there and we were inclined to give it a chance. Boy tthe food was absolutely amazing. We ordered a double cheeseburger with fries, 2 hard tacos. They were absolutely delicious. We met the owner and his 80 year old mom who run the place. They are simple people who serve amazing food. We will be returning.

We just dropped by this morning and no one there. But it’s interesting to see how a taco place started from here.

Okay it was an interesting location to stop by but unfortunately it was not open! That date that would have made the experience a whole lot better as we likely would have had some tacos and a soda! But still very interesting to note that that is where the original Del Taco got started! :-) well worth the drive by if you happen to be in the area! :-)

Apparently the original Del Taco. Big, if true.
There was signage which appeared to be for a newer burger restaurant, but much of the Del Taco signage was still there. Either way, the whole thing was closed when I was there.
