If you value safety to the level of paranoia, skip this place. My boyfriend and I stayed here a few months ago. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and when my code wasn't working for the hallway an employee let me in. The issue is that I happen to see the employee code and then out of curiosity my boyfriend and I discovered we could open our own door with that code as well (theres only a code for the doors!! And it unlocks ALL the door locks!! You cannot deadbolt or chain lock someone out). That freaked us out because we didnt know if other people could have seen the code, how often they change the employee codes, etc, and the fact that code WILL unlock the door in its entirety. We spent our whole stay with the ottoman and chairs stacked against our door at night (its a safe location, but we need that safety feature). Besides that, the sounds of other guests can be easily heard through the walls, in an annoying way. The positives, is that this place is beautiful inside and out. GREAT location, very walkable, easy parking, friendly and helpful staff. Clean rooms, nice bathrooms, comfortable beds and A/C. The drinks in the room were complimentary like espresso and sodas, which we enjoyed a lot and made us feel special. I really dont want to talk down on this place because it was nice, but the thin walls and security mean that we'll likely never stay here again unfortunately. I wish the best for it though!! You can tell the owners put love and care here. If you value history and can ignore thin walls, you should check this place out.

Rooms are beautiful and the courtyard is relaxing. Easy street parking in front of the hotel. “The Nest” room was plenty of space for us (a couple) for one night. Would likely want more space if spending more time in the room, but we were just passing through La Jolla. Omitted one star since it’s not staffed 24/7. Would definitely stay here again!

Google
The Orli exceeded our expectations. The online photos do not do justice to the details, design and charm of this boutique hotel. Small touches made our stay extra lovely like bottled water (not in plastic) and protein bars/collagen packs in the perfectly-sized room - The Study - to the cold brew on draft and tea available all day in the lobby and the delicious pastries in the morning. The location was perfectly situated in La Jolla. We are excited to return.

I have stayed in a lot of nice hotels across the world and this is in my top 5. My girlfriends and I spent 3 days/2 nights here in The Nomad suite and it was perfection. The grounds are gorgeous, the rooms are beautiful, and the hotel thought of everything for our girls trip. The staff would text us everyday making sure our stay was up to par. The face masks in the fridge were such a hit! Also, kudos for having a sound machine in the room as well. I honestly can't wait to come back.

The best way that comes to mind when asked to sum up my experience at The Orli's is like coming home for the holidays when you're in college; there are home cooked meals again and of course the comforting warm feeling of familiarity. The staff is lovely, attentive and accommodating to any needs. The location is subpar with beautiful ocean views. My stay was so wonderful I decided to stay a few more nights and that's all thanks to the staff at The Orli.

We recently spent a night at the beautiful Orli boutique hotel in La Jolla. Set in a great neighborhood within walking distance to the beach, museums, restaurants and shops, this charming 100+ year old Irving Gill designed hotel was a delight! The staff were so welcoming and attentive throughout our stay. The rooms were cozy and luxurious and the grounds are beautiful! This is a boutique hotel that takes care of you! Whatever you want or need, they are there to provide. We highly recommend staying at The Orli next time you are in La Jolla.

Google
Just had an amazing stay at the Orli Hotel in La Jolla! The room was incredibly comfortable and quiet. Loved the unique touches like the cold brew and kombucha taps. The hotel is beautiful and feels wonderfully private despite being in the heart of La Jolla. The location is unbeatable - walking distance to fantastic restaurants, cafes, bars, and the beach. Will definitely be back!

Orli is a tranquil oasis from the moment you walk up to the gate. The lobby and rooms are beautifully appointed and the location is perfect. Being able to travel with our dog was the cherry on top!

Yelp
This is one of my favorite hotels in the world- no exaggeration. I travel to SD for work about once a month and have stayed in many of the hotels in the the La Jolla area and this one is truly a hidden gem. I've stayed in about 4-5 different rooms and all have been lovely. Each room is decorated uniquely with high-quality details. It is surprisingly quiet and tucked away, though just a short walk to the beach and restaurants/shops. I love the contactless, code check-in, but there is always someone available to help if needed. The service is excellent- friendly and authentic. The kombucha and cold-brew on tap in the lobby is also a huge plus. Each time I leave, I feel recharged and refreshed- cannot recommend enough!

Yelp
Stayed here for our wedding night as san diego locals looking for a nice getaway to celebrate. beautiful hotel, location was perfect walking distance from the water as well as shops while still feeling like a little tucked away property. mobile check in/check out were very simple. free street parking was easy to find. they gave us a bottle of champagne to celebrate (neither of us drink but it was a very nice gesture). my only cons: the room door was not very soundproof so people talking/working in the hallway was quite loud and felt less private. pillows were not great (too thin) but bed was otherwise comfy.

Yelp
I just wrapped up my second stay at Orli, and once again, it was nothing short of magical! This time, we stayed in the Conservatory, and it exceeded all of our expectations. From the moment we stepped into the beautifully designed space, we felt a sense of serenity and luxury. The high ceilings, abundant natural light, and tasteful décor made it feel like a private oasis. Every detail is so thoughtfully curated, from the comfortable bed to the cozy sitting area that invites you to relax with a book or a glass of wine. The room's garden view was absolutely stunning, adding to the overall tranquil atmosphere. It's clear that Orli prioritizes their guests' comfort, with all the amenities we needed for a perfect weekend getaway. The location is unbeatable, offering easy access to local attractions while still feeling tucked away and peaceful. The seamless check-in process and the team's attentive service made us feel so welcome and well taken care of. Orli has quickly become my go-to for a luxurious escape, and I can't wait to return again. Highly recommend staying in the Conservatory if you're looking for a beautiful, restful experience!

Yelp
We thoroughly enjoyed the two nights we spent at Orli La Jolla. It was easily one of our most comfortable stays - the concierge team were super helpful and took excellent care of us. We stayed in the Nomad room - the room with two queen beds - which was spacious and comfortable with ocean views. The room was super quiet and the beds were so comfortable. We arrived a little early and they were able to hold our luggage for us - then brought it to our room so it was ready when we checked in. Text worked well to communicate - anything we needed was a text away - and the staffed front desk was also outside in the patio so we could always talk to someone during regular hours. They also let us know about wine hour via text - a really nice choice of wines and we enjoyed sitting in the patio and enjoying them. The cold brew and kombucha were delicious - and they had Sugar & Scribe pastries every morning - which was a wonderful surprise. They also outfitted our room with a Nespresso coffee maker and provided granola bars and bottled water. The grounds were immaculately kept - and ever detail was well thought out. We paid ahead for parking (which I would recommend) - and it was a short walk from the hotel. All in all, we had a wonderful time in La Jolla and hope to visit Orli the next time we are in town.

Yelp
The most beautiful and perfect stay. This hotel was absolutely amazing. The check in process was seamless the staff was outstanding. The ambience was relaxing and so comfortable, stylish and the attention to detail on every aspect of this place is just outstanding. Over all I will stay here in the future indefinitely. I'm so glad i was able to experience this place and its surroundings. About 29 minutes from just about anything you can think of in San Diego. A must stay!!!!

Yelp
A hidden gem in the center of the La Jolla Village, Orli has to be the most unique hotel I've had the pleasure of staying at. It's luxurious, without being out of touch. The entire design from the lobby to the individual suites is so beautiful. I love how it feels less like a hotel and more like a home. You could see the thoughtfulness behind each detail -- from the room names to the signifiers in each room (like binoculars or a Polaroid camera) to the water and dark chocolate waiting on the bedside table upon arrival. During my stay, I was able to work from the peaceful Courtyard, walk down to the beach with my puppy in under 10 minutes, and have a myriad of local experiences (again, all within walking distance). I was given a custom code to use on the keypad on my suite door (goodbye to the days of forgetting my key card) and never had an issue entering or exiting. I also received a custom link to the web app so I could easily chat with a member of hospitality team if I needed to, seamlessly order juice, and restock my towels (the latter two without having to talk to someone directly). The web app also gave me all the details I needed to have a comfortable stay. Speaking of comfort, the bed was (for lack of better words) amazing. I can have difficulty sleeping in other hotels due to their mattress and bedding choices, but at Orli, I fell asleep so quickly and woke up not wanting to get out of bed. My stay at Orli was nothing short of flawless, and it is now a mainstay for any time I visit San Diego.

Yelp
Stayed at the Orli for 2 nights earlier this month to celebrate my birthday and had the most incredibly relaxing time! We (my husband and our dog) stayed in the Irving Gill Penthouse, which had two stories and was spacious, well-decorated, and comfortable. They provided a fluffy dog bed, bowls, and a new toy for our dog, who basically thought the entire trip was for him. The outdoor terrace upstairs had plenty of seating and a beautiful view. There were two mini-fridges and two Nespresso machines (one on each floor - so convenient!), and a convection oven and hot water kettle that we used multiple times. There was also plenty of tableware and drinkware, along with everything we needed to wash the dishes (sponge, dish soap, dish rack, dish towels). Before arriving I was a little worried about being able to find our room (since it was communicated that check-in would be contactless and that they didn't have a front desk), but when we stepped into the courtyard there was someone on-site who immediately greeted us and guided us where to go. Everyone we met who worked at the hotel was super friendly and helpful, and both the courtyard and lounge areas were exceptionally clean and inviting! There were plenty of delicious places to eat within walking distance, and it was an easy walk to the beach as well. I'm already planning a return trip - I can definitely see myself coming back not only for a vacation but even to work from "home"!

Yelp
You would think it couldn't get much better than being nestled amidst a serene landscape adjacent to the ocean, but oh it can. This hotel is just as impeccable as the area that surrounds it. With comforting rooms tastefully adorned, a staff that exudes a warm energy and every one of my needs being fulfilled, this tastefully crafted hotel is all I could ask for. There wasn't a better choice I could make for my stay, Thank you to The Orli ! P.S. The wife loved it too.

Yelp
This time I stayed at the Irving suite, their most expensive suite. It was a really nice suite...however, the pull out bed was a bit uncomfortable. It didn't make for a really good sleep. You could feel the metal springs on your back. Bummer. Also if you don't like stairs do not book this room. I didn't mind it but I could see how tiring it would be for someone to go up and down the stairs. All in all it was a nice stay...in the morning they had croissants in the lobby! Yum! And of course coffee :)

Yelp
The combination of luxurious accommodations, unparalleled service, and prime location makes for a truly unforgettable experience. I cannot wait to return and would highly recommend Orli to anyone seeking a little retreat in La Jolla!

Yelp
I had high hopes based on the photos. Yet, what a terrible experience. The neighborhood is sketchy as others have said, especially after dark. There were random people wandering around the property and out front, who clearly weren't guests. There was no security on site. There was also no security at the assigned parking lot located two blocks away. My BMW was stollen and the hotel offered no support other than to tell us to call the police.

Frank N.

Yelp
WARNING I only write reviews when people are crooks and steal money. So I am writing this in order to warn others. Don't waste your time booking here unless you want to be robbed. I booked a room, and when I couldn't come the first night because of the unprecedented flash flooding in San Diego, they refused to let me come for the subsequent three nights, and yet charged me the full fee for the entire stay anyway. Really an amateur run operation. Suffice it to say, I am currently filing litigation against all of the hotel owners.

Fran F.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel, every corner is gorgeous. You can tell that so much thought and detail went behind the design of this hotel. We loved our stay at Orli and will definitely be returning! Also really kind staff working, they make you feel welcome.

Yelp
All I can say is BEAUTIFUL. I love boutique hotels and Orli is my favorite of all time. I came here with a couple girlfriends for a girls trip and we booked The Nomad. The room was wonderful with plenty of space for the three of us. The room even had a beautiful view of the ocean. I was so in love with the hotel and wonderful service that only a couple days after the girls trip, I came back with my husband and little dog! We stayed in The Nest which was a smaller room but cozy for us, and had a nice view of the hotel's courtyard. They even provided a dog bed, toy, water and food bowl for our dog. During our stay, we thoroughly enjoyed the cold brew on tap and tea provided in the hotel's common area. Everything was just so nice. Jordan was also extremely helpful and provided top notch service with a great attitude. And guess what? We booked another stay for May! This time my husband and I wanted family to experience Orli as well and are set to stay at The Sunset Suite. We are so excited! This hotel is truly a beautiful and elevated getaway in La Jolla. Just perfect.

Stacey A.

Yelp
Simplicity and elegance! The Orli is LA Jollas's best kept secret. We were close to fantastic restaurants and entertainment, yet we were comfortable just lounging at the beautiful property.

Alana B.

Yelp
This boutique hotel is the most amazing new addition to our favorite little town, La Jolla. The booking process on the website is so incredibly user-friendly and allows you to customize your stay to make for the most comfortable home away from home. Not only that, but the actual accommodation far exceeds any other stay I've had in LJ and the many places I've traveled around the world. ORLI is so warm and inviting, in all honesty - I did not want to leave. The concierge was very helpful in assisting us in finding our room. We loved it every step of the way! Don't forget to grab a fresh pastry in the lobby, and if you're lucky, you'll be staying on a weekend when they host a Pilates class! Absolutely 100% will be coming back ASAP.

Alejandra R.

Yelp
Orli was one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had! We travel a ton and have stayed just at every 5 star hotel and resort that is well known, we were unsure about trying a boutique hotel but Orli did not disappoint! Their property is incredible beautiful and curated to the highest standards. Their staff is incredibly kind and helpful. But my favorite part were their beautiful rooms that are practical and comfortable while maintaining a luxurious feel. I love La Jolla because of all the fun restaurants and activities near the beach so I'll be staying here again soon. Thanks Orli staff!

Yelp
Absolutely phenomenal. Could not have asked for a better place to stay in La Holla. The room was wonderful and large - the common spaces were also very conducive to spending time which was a great addition. There is kombucha and cold brew on tap all day, pastries in the mornings, and they even gave us an order of AMAZING cookies in our room to celebrate their 6 month anniversary. The staff was so friendly and helpful, providing us with amazing recommendations for the area. Location was perfect, everything in La Jolla is within a 10 minute walk. Could not recommend more.

Rutger J.

Yelp
My wife and I stayed here with our out of town friends and family for our wedding weekend. The hotel is gorgeous and unique, the staff took exceptional care of us and were so helpful while we tried to manage the chaos. It absolutely made our lives easier staying here and was a highlight of an already fantastic weekend. Thank you to Omar, Jordan, Max and your whole team for all your help

Sina A.

Yelp
Horrible customer service. My Girlfriend had spoke to Jordan over the phone about staying with for a few days with our service dog that's a bigger breed (100 pounds ) and he said they usually don't allow animals that size and will reached back out. Never did. I had to be the one to reached back out and he kept referring to my service dog as a pet and saying they have to stick to their guns about a 50 pound pet policy. That's great.. if he was a pet but he is not a pet. He is a service dog and cannot be denied accommodations. Horrible "policy" they have. I didn't feel like fighting it over the phone but I suggest this "business" or whatever they want to call themselves read up on some ADA laws before they get themselves in trouble. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere other then this trash niche of a "business"

Ashley C.

Yelp
Beautiful boutique hotel! First time visiting La Jolla and was so glad that we stayed at the Orli! Easy check-in and I appreciated the quick online responses to my questions. I loved the shower products! Everything about the hotel is classy and well done! You will enjoy staying here. Two things that I wish could be different is parking (the parking garage seemed a little sketchy at night) and the signature scent that permeates the entire hotel bothered my allergies (I wish the scent could be in just in common areas).

Nathaniel B.

Yelp
My wife and I stayed at the Orli for our wedding at the La Jolla Woman's Club just after the July 4th weekend in 2023. We stayed in the The Two-Story Irving Gill Penthouse and The Nomad to get ready for the wedding. The Penthouse was absolutely incredible, and it was perfect for us the night before and the night of the wedding. The bride and bridesmaids got ready in the penthouse, and the groom and groomsmen got ready in the Nomad - both remarkable rooms that were so beautifully designed. We absolutely loved the aesthetic of the rooms, and the amenities including the kombucha and cold brew coffee on tap. Not only were the rooms incredible, but Jordan, Omar, and the entire Orli staff were incredibly helpful and kind throughout our entire stay. We would highly recommend the Orli for any couple getting married in the area or for a vacation, as it was the perfect oasis for any vacation or staycation. To the Orli team - Thank you so much for making our wedding weekend so unforgettable. We cannot wait to come back for a weekend in the hotel that helped to make our wedding so amazing!

Nicole R.

Yelp
I recently had the privilege of staying at Orli Hotel in La Jolla and it has made it to the top of my favorites list. The property is beautiful and the design throughout is stunning. My room felt like a home, not a hotel room. The beds were so comfortable I didn't want to get up in the morning! The kind of comfort that makes you ask where they buy all their products because I want them in my own home. They had cold brew, kombucha, and fresh pastries in the lobby which was such a nice touch and also YUM. I love that you are given a custom code to use on the keypad of the door so you don't have to carry a key around or worry about losing it. You can log into your streaming applications directly on the TV and you don't have to worry about logging out because Orli automatically logs you out after you check-out! You can also order housekeeping items without having to talk to anyone on the phone or be placed on hold. The location of the hotel is perfect, with easy walking access to the beach, shopping, and restaurants. Such a great experience. I couldn't be more impressed with my stay and would highly recommend it to anyone, 5 stars!

Hannah W.

Yelp
We had such an amazing stay. This hotel is beautiful! We truly loved celebrating my birthday here and definitely recommend this boutique hotel if you are in La Jolla.

Avalee C.

Yelp
Giving it 5 stars for a superb location. Right off the main street in a lovely area. And is a beautiful small inn. HOWEVER, when you walk in the front door the perfume or ? is over powering. I am sensitive to smoke/perfume/incense and it made my sinuses clog up immediately. The smell off fresh air is much better!!

Linda A.

Yelp
What a find! Perfect location, friendly service, luxurious room. Kudos to Jordan and staff for going the extra distance to ensure a wonderful vacation.

Charles B.

Yelp
Nancy & Charlie Just came back from a stay at the Orli. Magnificent boutique hotel. Jordan and his wife were so pleasant and made our stay one to remember. The interior of the hotel is amazing--we were in the suite with large balcony. Never used the car the whole time as the hotel is located a short walk to all of downtown La Jolla. We will tell friends about this special place.

Yelp
If you are thinking about staying in La Jolla, don't look any further and book the Orli! My husband and I stayed in the conservatory room, it was incredible. In the room, they provided nespresso pods, protein bars, delicious chocolate, water, robes, slippers and the best smelling shampoo/condition/soap. The lobby was really great to hangout, drink cold brew and kombucha and they even provided pastries from a delicious cafe a block down from the hotel. The courtyard was incredible, they provided games, music and comfy couches/chairs, we ended up reading out in the courtyard for a couple hours to take a break from the sun. The location is 10 out of 10. You can walk to shops, the beach and restaurants in 5 minutes. Our favorite restaurants were Marisi (italian), Sugar and Scribe (breakfast) and Puesto (mexican). It is also worth mentioning that we requested to rebook our room a couple weeks out due to bad weather and it was seamless with no fee attached. Thanks so much for the most amazing and relaxing stay!

Louis S.

Yelp
Orli was the most unique and special stay that we have had at any hotel. Located in a really cool part of La Jolla with walkability to coffee shops, shopping, great breakfast spots and fine dining. My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary. We are big fans of boutique hotels, and this embodies the best parts of that but with a serious touch of luxury. If you are in to the details, the quality of everything was excellent. The green marble, the couches, pillows, bed, counter tops.. it is clear they built this place with intention. The staff was very accommodating, and even though there is no front desk, we felt very much taken care of. The common area with cold brew, kumbucha and ice cold water on tap was a great touch. I love not having to worry about water at hotels, and the cold brew was delicious. I woke up early and had a cold brew in the outdoor area and it was lovely. Really just a unique and special experience, thank you Orli!
