Ormer Mayfair

"Hidden away in the basement of the Flemings Mayfair Hotel, this restaurant offers understated elegance and charming, unstuffy service. The tasting menu is served in 5 or 7 courses and features carefully constructed dishes using classic combinations, that are lifted to a new level by hints of originality. The cooking is underpinned by superb ingredients from around the British Isles, such as Cornish mackerel or Scottish langoustines, alongside some produce from the garden at their sister hotel in Essex. The wine list and pairings are both excellent." - Michelin Inspector

We came here to celebrate our 2 year wedding anniversary and it was spectacular. The service was fantastic. The atmosphere was calm and classic British. The food was delicious, it was exactly as desired on the menu and really brought out the flavours of the dishes and the chefs inspirational countries. The menu had been curated with lots of flair and very well made. Definitely some beautiful food to enjoy.

This is definitely one of the best restaurants I’ve tried in London. The quality of the service is absolutely amazing. The course menu is very well selected and explained by your server. The place itself is also very nice and cozy, also the quiet environment allows you to talk comfortably with your guests. My family and I had a great time here, we would definitely dine here again.

This was a sponsored event so no idea about cost but I'm sure you need to part with a good measure of pounds. We had a private room and service for the guests in the room. The service was amazing, attentive, explaining each part of the meal etc. We had a set Menu that was adjusted for dietary requirements. Generally a starter of cured Cornish mackerel, with a lovely broth main of roast fillet of beef with a side of mash. I didn't have the dairy desert so mine was called fruit selection(it was not fruit) We were given olives and roast almonds and a generous amount of bread, with butter or olive oil and balsamic vinegar for those not having dairy. First of, all the food was beautifully presented and delicious. Each was paired with an appropriate wine, but I'm not a wine drinker so can't comment. My only quibble is the portion size. I am not a huge eater but without the bread I would have gone home still hungry. I don't know how much you need to order to get full but starter, main and desert didn't really cut it. I was so grateful for the bread which was delicious but if you're not a bread fan you're just going to have to order more food. I enjoyed the experience, I enjoyed the company, I enjoyed the service but I'm a hearty kind of gal at heart. I need just a little more food at the end of the day.

Had the five course set menu for dinner at ormer mayfair. I was pleasantly surprised with the flavor of the pigeon (it was my first time trying it), but everything else on the menu before the main course was a bit disappointing. The dessert was the best part of the meal. As it was my guest’s birthday, they gifted us with three glasses of Prosecco - quite lovely. The presentation of the food was wonderful, the service was more than great, just wish the food was a bit more tasty or had a bigger “wow factor.”

Loved the experience. And it's an experience, not just the food, but also the whole service and experience. The food was fabulous and really worth the money spent.

One of our best experiences in London. We would say top 5. The food was divine, we went for the pescatarian menu. They change their menu often. The ambience is really cozy, quiet and nice decor. Nice selection of paintings. It’s definitely a place if you like art. The staff were very friendly, polite, and really treated me and my guests very well. It was my birthday and they provided the best atmosphere we could have. Definitely we will return and highly recommend Ormer. When you choose a place more refined like this one you really expect everything sparkling and perfect. I am quite picky with places and I couldn’t find one single fault. I would suggest just a piano as background, apart of that, this experience was perfect.

What an experience! The food and the staff were incredible. Peter made our visit especially enjoyable with his warm hospitality. It’s a fun and cozy spot to enjoy a culinary journey that takes your palate from Costa Rica to Ireland, Italy, and most memorably, Morocco. 10/10 highly recommended

Yelp
We had Christmas Eve dinner here and was glad we did. Every course was fabulous in presentation and taste (although I now found out I do not enjoy foie gras). The greeting was cordial and we were seated in the bar awaiting our table. The table setting was festive and the food was fabulous. Thank you for making our Christmas in London a time to remember.

Yelp
An amazing experience. The ambience, staff and food are all 5 stars! The launch menu is superb! Will be coming back many more times

Yelp
Overrated in my opinion. The flavors were simply not interesting or surprising enough. I expected more given the reviews and expense. Also, the staff didn't seem to have enough to do. The attention they lavished on us was excessive to the point of being annoying.

Yelp
This a very private, small, and cozy restaurant inside the Fleming mayfair hotel. To the point that you can't speak slightly loud because you could easily annoy everyone inside. The service is excellent and you are greeted nicely from the moment you walk into the hotel lobby. The hotel s boutique, so the lobby is very small and the restaurant is only few steps away from entrance. I tried their burger. I strongly recommend it, it was very nice. If you were staying at the hotel, the gym is only few steps away, you will need it after that burger. . The tables were clean and very organized. Overall, this is an easily missed restautent, but worth going you. Good to go alone, on a date, or a very small business dinner.

Yelp
Visited Ormer on the last day of its soft launch - 50% off food, but not drink. It's a beautiful venue attached to the Flemings hotel in Mayfair. Design wise it seems gloriously set in the past. I snuck a peak of its wonderful looking bar - intimate gorgeous and rose gold, probably worth returning to check it out. The restaurant is the new restaurant from Michelin star chef Shaun Rankin and is a sister restaurant to Ormer in Jersey, offering a mix of British 'heritage' dishes - think exciting creations using lobster, scallops, venison and fresh British herbs and vegetables. As we were greeted and sat in the restaurant, its apparent the staff bend over backwards to give you attention here. They were absolutely lovely, and I'm sure that most people paying for a meal at Ormer, a quality hotel restaurant want that level of service. Personally I do like a bit of attention but it was too much for my taste. I know I'm an anomaly here though and it was all very well received and enjoyable for our group. I guess I'm just not use to being treated nice -self esteem issues or what? We started with an amuse-bouche- a creamy filled bowl that smelt so trufflelicious. Although not vegetarian, just picky, I ordered off the ample vegetarian menu for my starter, the Heritage tomato salad with Watermelon, creamed burrata and basil. Very lovely and very fresh. There was a also a tomato sorbet on the plate too to liven it all up. Friends ordered pretty much every starter off the normal menu - the poached oysters with caviar went down with acclaim. For the mains I ordered cote de beouf to share with my friend to the right. Usually £75, but today half off (hooray). Sadly I ended up with a few fatty slices of steak (which I know is part of the cut) but one slice was disappointingly all 100% fat and impossible to eat. The majority of it was delicious - medium rare, well seared, and with tasty mushrooms, shallots, and jus with it, plus huge triple cooked chips on the side. Yum. Most of my pals at the table were happy with their orders, but one friend was slightly disappointed with the size of his Dover sole. I think he would have just wanted more to eat, and perhaps should have been advised by the waiting staff to order an additional side, i would say the size for a fish main wasn't unexpected though, and as he was still peckish I sacrificed a few chips to toss his way. I am such a saint. Desserts made everyone happy. The carrot cake and treacle tarts being very popular on my table. I opted for coconut mousse with white chocolate, pineapple and mango. Very nice but there was another surprise sorbet on my plate. Really zesty almost sour. I assume it was meant to be a palate cleanser but it wasn't named on the menu and I'm not crazy about unexpected sour surprises on my sweet dessert plate. Lastly we were given some petit fours - to take home, or eat there. I ate mine there - ooops, They were very delicious - the chocolate one in particular and such a lovely touch. Overall my impressions were excellent, innovate and exciting food and first class service. It would have to be an occasional thing for someone of my own means, but if you can afford it give it a whirl. With the soft launch it came to about £50 per person including a few glasses of wine, so I would suspect it would normally be around £70-100 per head - although they do have a reasonable priced lunchtime two or three course set menu for under £30.

Yelp
Excellent food and a wonderful dining experience. This is a cozy, intimate restaurant but it doesn't feel ostentatious Our food was excellent and they have wonderful craft cocktails.

Yelp
Had better expectations and this missed the mark. Despite all the positive reviews, the food was not as good as i had hoped. Atmosphere was dark and quiet. A few items from the visit included the cote de boeuf for two. At £80, that is on the higher price side, the chef should know how to cook it properly...when asked for medium rare, it came medium and was sent straight back to the kitchen to be cooked as asked. While the service were able to sort it out, its a basic error that shouldn't have happened. Take two was much better. Dessert was fine but just fine. The cherry souffle had a great texture but was far too sweet (sure it is a sweet dessert but too much caster sugar went into it). The baked alaska was all looks but taste was poor. The ice cream inside tasted as if it had freezer burn. Happy to have seen this restaurant, but will not return.

Yelp
Was an amazing experience. Service was humourous and incredibly friendly and the food was some of the best food I have ever had. Never have I tasted something and actually been held aback at how good it is. Recommend getting a dessert as it was truly the best dessert I have ever had.

Yelp
Simply outstanding. The best food I have had in London. The lobster ravioli was stellar. The pork with incredibly tender calamari, apples and fennel was heavenly. Reasonable prices were a pleasant bonus. Great atmosphere. Professional staff. We were able to get a table on short notice only because the place is new. In a year they will have a waiting list for sure. Don't miss it.
