This is a great little late night spot. It was nice to find something open past 10:30p in the area on a Friday night, other than Vietnamese, Mexican or In-n-Out.
We had the basil chicken, Penang Curry chicken, popcorn chicken and Pad Thai chicken. This was way more than we could eat, but we wanted to try a few different items.
The basil chicken over "chicken" rice was fantastic! I could eat that all day, every day! That's definitely something I'd order again...and again...and again!
The Penang Curry had good flavor, but it was a little watery for me. It comes with generous chunks of chicken, which was a plus. I only tried a little of it at the restaurant for reasons explained below. I thought it was good not great.
The Pad Thai Chicken was okay. It had plenty of flavor, but it wasn't quite the Pad Thai I'm used to. Also, I thought it to be a little dry. It comes with breaded chicken on top, which I loved. I could eat just the chicken pieces alone. I would have liked to see a lime wedge and a few green onions on top. Not bad, just not my favorite.
The popcorn chicken was pretty tasty. They gave generous portions, with good size pieces.
The dining area is very small, but since it was just my wife and I, we ate there. Dining in is not something I'd recommend. The utensils were cheap and flimsy making the dining experience pretty awful. I could hardly eat my Pad Thai with the cheap fork, and I totally gave up on eating the Penang Curry because the spoon was so small and flimsy, I could barely scoop any sauce into the rice, let alone scoop the rice. The Pad Thai came in a small box, so forget about trying to mix it up. It would have been a nice touch to provide solid utensils and some paper plates, especially for those dining in. That said, maybe they did and I just didn't know to ask; my apologies if that was the case. For now, 1 star for the dine-in experience.
It took about 20 minutes for our food to come out with a party of 2 and 4 ahead of us. I'm not complaining, given the food came out fresh. I'm just providing a reference point.
All in all, this is definitely a spot we'll come back to if just for the basil chicken. I'll probably try a few other items next time. Tuk Tuk Chicken is worth a try for those with a late night Thai food craving.
