"Established in late 2023, Oryz boasts a cosy interior with grey tones and soft lighting for a relaxed bistro vibe. An open kitchen on the first floor lets diners watch the chefs at work. Chef Chris Fong, enriched by a diverse cultural heritage, breaks culinary boundaries with his Asian Contemporary concept: familiar Asian recipes are reimagined with a flourish, in a 12- or 14‐course tasting menu. Each meal is accompanied by a "passport" detailing the inspiration behind it." - Michelin Inspector

I had an amazing dining experience here — attentive staff, a wonderful atmosphere, and, most importantly, an incredible culinary journey from start to finish. The meal not only told a coherent story of Northern Vietnamese cuisine but also beautifully highlighted its cultural values. As a Vietnamese, I know these flavors well, yet the chefs managed to present them in ways that felt both deeply familiar and strikingly new. Every dish was a creative reimagination — preserving the soul of tradition while dressing it in a fresh, modern spirit. It was a celebration of heritage told through taste, each bite a reminder of where we come from and a hint of where we can go. I can’t wait to return and experience their next menu

Definitely an easy, highly recommended fine dining tasting menu to savour the elevated Northern Vietnamese delicacies! Ambience is just perfect, table setup feels intimate and screams “help yourself at home”, and to top it off with an exceptional service from Chi, whom served my table throughout with high professionalism and attentiveness. Exceptional service. Food is just amazing, zing, zing! We tried some local vietnamese food a few days before but the gamy flavours just get in my way to enjoy them. But, it is very different at Oryz. The balance of the flavours are all on point, a remarkable 14 course journey to savour flavours that I will carry with me on my way back home. The texture complexity and flavour intensification just made my dining an unforgettable one. The owner approached us towards the end of our journey, and she was very enthusiastic in bringing Asian twist of fine dining to Vietnam. Keep up the great quality and service! :) Definitely a good place to recommend for a good dining night when you are around the town.

Truly amazing experience and definitely a refreshing change to general western or omakase fine dining, praying this place gets a star one day! The staff were amazing, very attentive and friendly. There was a little power incident that happened for less than a minute and we were catered to greatly which was much appreciated, it truly makes you feel like your experience is important. My mother and I even got to speak to the co owner who gave an apology along with some small talk, she’s very kind to do so. The food as other reviews can tell you was sublime, I found one or two dishes to be a little on the saltier side but I say that very loosely as I simply tend to like more softer flavours, I still enjoyed every course regardless! Praying for a North American location In the future!

Carefully crafted Saigon food culture dining experience! A delicious and insightful journey into Saigon’s vibrant food culture. Their modern take on traditional Vietnamese dishes, showcased through a thoughtfully crafted 14-course tasting menu, highlights the diverse flavors of the region. The warm ambiance perfectly complements the meal, creating a memorable dining atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Exceptional execution of a cool concept - We had the Vietnamese menu that showcased famous dishes from around the country. It was as if we just traveled the whole country in 1 meal! All the main dishes were seasoned to perfection, and delicately showcased essence of each corresponding signature dish. The focus on the use of spice and condiments also elevated and enhanced the overall dining experience. We would have loved the desserts to be even more flavorful to compliment the boldness of the entrees while the kombucha pairing to be on a lighter side; But otherwise everything was perfect and we would definitely come visit again. Highly recommend and we reckon Oryz Saigon a must-visit in Ho Chi Minh City :) Being a new restaurant with only 15months of experience, this restaurant has so much potential! Keep up the good work!

It is a perfect conclusion of my trip to Vietnam, the cuisine is creative yet still stays true to their roots, and the service is warm. Their staff introduce every plate thoroughly and patiently answer my question regarding what’s behind. The menu this season is under the theme of “Vietnam”, so I go through a full food journey from north to south part of Vietnam. For the food I have eaten before, I can tell the link between and its taste. For the food I haven’t tried, I believe they also keep the authentic flavor of the original ones. My favorite part is we could season most of the plates, from adding peanuts in to stir it a little bit for our own flavor, which makes me think of the way we eat in some local Vietnamese restaurant/street food vendors, as we also need to like puzzle different elements together or add those herbs and lime etc. From my point of view, it brings the dining experience more local and some fun into the full journey. they are changing the menu soon, but I do believe, with their philosophy of keeping the nature of each dish, they could still do an amazing job in other themes!

Super lucky to catch ORYZ’s first service after the menu update — the new season’s theme is “Children of the Red River,” centered around the culinary traditions of Northern Vietnam. It’s my first time experiencing a fine dining meal that so sincerely brings you into a cultural narrative 🥹. Although I don’t know much about Vietnamese culture, they give you a “food passport” before the meal, which explains the inspiration and background of each dish. After hearing the introductions, I genuinely wanted to go back and learn more about Vietnamese culture! I kept feeling that ORYZ’s dishes are incredibly innovative and well-integrated — you can sense the chef’s sincerity and creativity in so many little details. It’s clear they’re truly creating and expressing something, not just replicating a generic sense of “fineness.” There are two options: 12 courses for 2,080,000 VND and 14 courses for 2,280,000 VND. I originally picked the 12-course menu but halfway through, I couldn’t help upgrading to the full 14 — totally worth it. If you already love Vietnamese food, or if you’re tired of the usual Western-style fine dining, this place is absolutely worth a try.

The Vietnamese menu is absolutely fantastic, offering a chance to try all the famous dishes from north to south. Each dish comes with a brief introduction that provides cultural background, enriching the overall dining experience. The dishes complement each other perfectly and are presented in a creative and visually appealing way. The waitstaff, Tri and Nhi, were professional and kind. (There was another staff member—possibly the manager—whose name I can’t recall, but I truly appreciate her help in securing a last-minute reservation.) Thank you for giving me such an unforgettable dining experience.
