San Bernardino’s Massive EDM Festival Has Some Tasty Food Options | Eater LA

"With the weather barely hitting 60 degrees in San Bernardino, I expect Shake Ramen to be busy as a comfort-food option." - Mona Holmes

We came to eat here on Halloween.🎃 Presentation was amazing. Unfortunately it looked better than it tasted. The sushi rolls were mid. I wouldn't come here again. I feel like the place is over hype. The service was not there. The dessert was the most disappointing. Don't ever get the fried ice cream. It was absolutely disgusting.

First time eating here, did dine-in at the bar during lunch hours and was very satisfied! Service and food was great, I had the Salmon Skin Salad and Osaka House roll. Even the small side of pickled cucumber was excellent. It does get a little noisy because of the open layout (there was a large party seated behind me, plus a few smaller parties), but I was relieved they weren't trying to play tv audio on top of the music. Definitely plan to come back with friends!

Osaka House Ramen & Sushi is truly a hidden gem in San Bernardino. Located on West Second Street, as its name suggests, this Japanese restaurant offers a wide array of Japanese food using top quality seafood, featuring Ramen and Sushi dishes. The restaurant is owned by Sam Ho and his two cousins, who also have locations in Temecula and Hemet. I’ve visited this place twice so far and, each time I’ve left the place with utter satisfaction. The interior is beautifully decorated, creating a soothing and intimate ambiance. This is a perfect place for a date night. The maximum occupancy of this place is 60 people. The staff are polite, attentive, and efficient in their service. Despite being busy most of the time, they consistently manage to serve food quickly and competently. The food they served was nicely decorated, outstanding and so delicious. So far, I’ve tried their Rainbow Roll, Chicken Yaki Udon, Miso Soup, Tiger Roll, and Fantasy Roll. The Chicken Yaki Udon featured chewy udon noodles, tender stir-fried chicken, and colorful vegetables in a savory sauce. The Rainbow Roll was topped with 4 kinds of colorful fish (both raw and baked) and avocado, making it look like a rainbow. Miso Soup was made from dashi stock flavored with miso paste. However, Tiger Roll, and Fantasy Roll were the ultimate showstoppers! These 2 Rolls were Chef’s Special Rolls. The Tiger Roll had shrimp tempura, spicy crab, and cucumber, topped with shrimp, avocado, spicy mayo, and eel sauce. The Fantasy Roll included shrimp tempura, cream cheese, and avocado, topped with spicy crabmeat, scallions, masago, eel sauce, and spicy mayo. The food was great. I especially enjoyed the sushi rolls - they were delicious. In terms of pricing, Osaka House Ramen & Sushi is on the higher end, like all other Sushi Places. In fact, this is an expensive place. However, they have some very pocket-friendly deals, such as Lunch Special and Any Two Rolls served with Miso Soup at $14.99 (served 7 days a week from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM except holidays). If I had to sum up Osaka House Ramen & Sushi in one sentence, I’d say “Authentic Ramen, Fresh Sushi, and Unforgettable Taste - all in the heart of San Bernardino”! Whether it’s a cozy dine-in night or a quick lunch break, Osaka House Ramen & Sushi brings Japan to your table. If you’re in San Bernardino and craving Japanese cuisine, stop by today and taste the difference!

Honestly, this place is such a hidden gem in San Bernardino. The staff is super nice and quick, and the food is seriously delicious. I’ve been here a few times with my family, and it’s always a great meal without spending a ton. The vibe is really nice too — clean bathrooms, cool decor, and big TVs with the game on. So glad this spot is close to home. You’ve gotta check it out!

I’m from San Bernardino and have always had to travel far to get ramen. Luckily I easily have a go to spot to get my ramen fix! This place has a peaceful ambience to it and served great ramen and sushi. The staff was nice and I instantly wanted to come again for a date night! Highly recommend coming here for a date night or a nice lunch.

This does NOT LOOK LIKE SEAWEED NOR DID IT FEEL LIKE IT. The menu even says the bowl shouldn't have seaweed in it, bullshit explanation. When I paid and they had the audacity to still give me a tab, I asked the waiter how it even got into the food if it's not an ingredient. She said she didn't know. I didn't want to escalate the situation either so I paid and left. My partners food experience "I really wanted to enjoy this place, but my experience was pretty disappointing. While eating my ramen, I found what looked very clearly like a long piece of hair tangled in noodles and pork. When I brought it up to the staff, they told me it was “seaweed,” but it didn’t look or feel anything like seaweed — it looked like hair or some kind of string but most definitely hair from when I picked at it 🤢. Instead of taking the issue seriously, they brushed it off, which made the situation feel even worse. Finding something like that in your food is already gross, but being dismissed on top of it is really frustrating. They even said they'd take it out and bring me the bowl back which is INSANE. I won’t be coming back, and I hope they improve their food handling and customer service." While I wanted to enjoy the meal with them it turned into an embarrassing moment, apart from that the quick loss of appetite. It's a shame this was our first time here and it turned into this. Be mindful with each bite and hopefully this doesn't happen to anyone in the future. Reply/Update: Thanks for responding. I want to clarify a few things, because the experience was more upsetting than your reply suggests. First, we never claimed that you removed something from the bowl and served it back. What actually happened was that the waiter mentioned the option of taking the object out and returning the bowl — according to my partner, who was the one speaking with them. We declined that because it didn’t feel safe or appropriate. You did not give the bowl back to us, but that option was offered. Second, the way the situation unfolded was honestly embarrassing. When we brought the bowl up, instead of receiving reassurance or a clear explanation, we were quickly told it was “seaweed,” even though seaweed isn’t part of the miso ramen ingredients. The object wasn’t shown to us again, nor were we told how it was determined that it wasn’t hair. There was no real explanation, and no steps taken to reassure us. My partner’s face literally felt hot from embarrassment sitting there — it felt like we were being treated as if we were overreacting or being dramatic, rather than customers with a legitimate food concern. The lack of transparency and reassurance made the entire situation uncomfortable and discouraging. We also lost our appetite completely after that. It’s hard to keep eating when you don’t know what was actually in your food, and when your concern isn’t taken seriously. Lastly, we were not offered a full refund or replacement — just the option to remove that one bowl from the tab. The issue wasn’t the refund itself. It was the dismissive way the concern was handled and the lack of clarity about what we actually found. The item we found simply does not resemble ramen seaweed, and anyone looking at the photo can see that. We just wanted the issue acknowledged properly and handled with more care so we didn’t feel embarrassed or dismissed in the moment.

Google
It was really good! 6.99$ for a California roll.. so bomb. I did have a situation where I asked for boba when i ordered but there was none in my drink when received, the manger/owner was walking around the whole time, when we flagged him down, he fixed it so quickly which I really appreciated! Made my anniversary dinner smooth and enjoyable

Google
The service was as fantastic as the food. High quality sushi and sashimi and delicate yet bold flavors. The sashimi melts in your mouth as it should and the rice was the perfect combination of sticky and fluffy.

Yelp
The ramen was okay I feel like I've had better ramen elsewhere but the sushi was good. Service was okay we got greeted and sat, once we sat down and got our food nobody ever approached us and whenever we wanted to call for someone nobody would pass by. Overall I give it a 3/5 stars if we were checked on at least once we could've said they forgot to give our rice.

Yelp
My wife and I decided to try Osaka because we were in the mood for some sushi. As soon as we walked in we were happily greeted by Hanna. The restaurant also looked like very well decorated. The panels on the walls felt as if we were in a traditional Japanese house. It was a very cool set up. We have two very young kids and Hanna made us feel right at home. Her service was excellent and my wife and I felt very taken care of. Whenever we needed something she was very attentive and helpful. Thank you Hanna for making our visit pleasant from the start to finish. We will be back :)

Yelp
Found this place in San Bernardino. It looks kind of shady outside, but the inside is so nice and looks like you're in Orange County. The sushi was fresh and all tasted good. The calamari and wings were amazing. I also tried the ramen which was just ok. Service is pretty quick when you go during lunch on a weekday. I haven't been on weekends or at dinner time so not sure about that. Definitely will keep coming.

Yelp
I've been wanting to check this place out for a while. Osaka isn't exactly known for sushi (more so like street food and like fried stuff) so with that kind of name I had very tempered expectations. I ended up having a really good experience though and I think I'll be back on occasion! I ordered takeout as is my preference lately, but the inside looks very nice and new. There's a lot of maiko themed kind of decor, which again is not at all the vibe of Osaka, but was kind of funny and made me and my friends giggle. I got two Rainbow Rolls (they had a BOGO deal), a shrimp tempura hand roll, and tuna and tuna belly nigiri. The rice was better than I expected and had that nice sweet vinegar flavor. The fish was fresh and cut neatly. The sushi quality is definitely higher than most other sushi places in SB. With the deal, the price wasn't bad either. Overall, it's a good spot if you're in the area and want solid sushi at a reasonable price. It's nothing mind-blowing and it lacks authenticity, but I'd order from here again.

Yelp
First time in this joint, and ordered their lunch 2 roll specials-Salmon Avocado and Calamari - loved it both. Also, ordered Eel Unagi sushi- I'm ver impressed- they made less rice and blend of right taste, texture and the cut truly played well soon I tasted very delicious. Will try the ramen noodles on my next visit. Definitely a return customer.

Yelp
Overall a 4.5 star. I'll keep this short. It's a cool spot in San Bernardino. The interior is very nicely done. I wanted sushi for lunch, so this was fairly close to my work. I ordered their lunch special to go, it was a salmon avocado roll and a Lemon roll, which is basically a California roll with Salomon on top, and lemon on top of that. After waiting a few mins I decided I wanted to eat there, so the hostess seated me at a table. Service was good (considering I didn't really need much service). I just think the employees should be a bit more friendly, smiling maybe.? I don't know. Food was good, hit the spot. Interior and ambience is very nice. I would totally recommend trying this spot if you're near by!

Yelp
This is easily a 5 star Ramen/Sushi spot for me and I've been to MANY sushi restaurants. The service was good and the food was EXCEPTIONAL. We had multiple rolls and Ramen. Everything we ate was delicious and the portions were good. The prices were also fair, can't complain. We will DEFINITELY be coming back here very soon! Plus I really enjoy the vibes of this place.

Yelp
The food is phenomenal! Don't judge it based on the location. I drove off the freeway for a quick dinner and almost passed right by Osaka House Ramen & Sushi. Fortunately, I had spotted the listing on Yelp and went in for what turned out to be the best meal I'd had in months! Tucked in the corner of a shopping center, the restaurant offers a surprisingly mellow yet professional ambiance that makes for a relaxing evening (think upscale fast casual but with decent lighting and decor). The staff was very friendly and made various menus recommendation. I ended up ordering a few of their daily special items which were simple, yet packed with flavor. The waygu beef and blue crab hand roll get my vote. To make a great night better, they also served me a complementary dessert. As I'm sure you can tell, I highly recommend visiting and trying it for yourself. I hope to come back sometime soon.

Yelp
First, the good. My wife likes this place. She ate here once during lunch, ordered sushi rolls, and loved it. This Friday evening, she did the same. I ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box. It was the worst bento box I ever had. My first clue was the menu, where there were only four choices, unlike other Japanese restaurants. The rice was not sticky enough because it wasn't cooked enough. The chicken was rubbery and tasteless, except for the teriyaki sauce that seemed to be poured ungenerously onto the meat and not cooked into the meat. The tempura was okay; so were the salad and the California roll. We both ordered water and hot tea. Many restaurants give you a pot of hot water, but not this place. You get a tiny tea cup. My wife had to ask for more hot water. I didn't bother. The service was good. The servers were many and attentive. The ambiance was impressive. The interior looked clean and spacious and modern. With time, I hope the faux cherry blossom trees get dusted regularly. Upon leaving, my wife pointed out that it's a ramen and sushi restaurant. I agreed to return someday, but I honestly believe that the bento box should NOT be on the menu and that customers should definitely avoid the teriyaki chicken. Shopping center parking. The restaurant is at the far end of a strip mall where Marshalls is the anchor store.

Yelp
Came here because a friend wanted to check it out. I was shocked to see such a beautiful restaurant in such a small corner of downtown SB. It's so funny that I'm in the plaza but never noticed this restaurant. I'm glad I gave it a fair chance. Their service was fast and food was good. They have sushi AND ramen. I honestly wanted to try everything. I got eel sushi, spicy tuna nachos, miso soup and a roll. The eel sushi was delicious and fresh. The ahi nachos came with a scoop of spicy tuna on each chip. The chip tasted like it was air fried since it was crispy yet dense, but it worked well with the meal. I think they did a little too much chili oil and I'm not that big of a fan. But overall flavor and presentation was gorgeous. The miso soup to me was a little bit on the saltier side. As where my friend said it was perfectly balanced for her. The red dragon roll was delicious, and I loved that their rolls have less rice than any other sushi place I've been to. Which is nice because I don't get full off the rice and get to taste all the fresh ingredients that comes in my roll. I thought something that was funny was that I find a lot of their rolls to be tempura based as for whats inside. I wish they had more raw filled rolls. Very clean establishment, well decorated, well kept, fast service, many options, fresh and delicious. I'm excited to come back here to try the ramen next time!

Yelp
Definitely coming back!!! Came here to eat for my little sister's birthday and let me tell you it was amazing. The service was good, only thing is you should get there early because it will get full super fast.(they open at 11). I ordered the Volcano Ramen. It was delicious. The portions are big so I recommend to shared if you don't usually finish your food. My sister ordered the Volcano Roll and it was also good. The San Bernardino Roll I got and it was awesome!! It does come with raw salmon and tuna, so if you don't like raw fish don't order it. The Honey Coconut Shrimp is also very tasty, my brother ordered it and bomb. (I didn't take a picture). Other than the delicious food and great service, the price it's bad. We paid $220 for a family of 7( two ramens and each person got about 2 sushi rolls) in other places we usually pay up to $280 and eat way let. I Highly recommend and will be coming back for more

Yelp
Delicious. Better quality fresh fish than you could expect to get in the inland empire and it's simply, good sushi. The "party boat" is an amazing deal and would go for over two hundred dollars in other restaurants in big cities so this is a gold mine of nagiri and rolls. Definitely a top find in the tri-county area! The first time my husband has said "wow-I don't think I could eat more sushi I'm so full!"

Xavier K.

Yelp
I've been here once and my experience was during lunch. The lunch specials are awesome. I had a bento box and a beer. The service was great also. It wasn't too busy for lunch. I was able to sit down and make it back to work. The atmosphere is pretty chill. Good for small parties or even by yourself.

Yelp
I just did the order to go but it was a very pleasant experience. Staff was very nice and helped me receive my order quickly. I got the any two roll combo and it was really good. I specifically got the spicy tuna and shrimp tempura. Everything was packaged very well and flavorful. It was a great deal and i will definitely be back.

Yelp
Service was good. Bathrooms all good, ambiance was cute. Our first time coming, We ordered Albacore delight fresh roll 7/10 from both me and my husband The fish was delicious, I like the spicy tuna and tempura mix. I like the sesame taste but we felt that it was bit overpowering. Even with both eel sauce and spicy mayo. Miso ramen 5/10 both of us.(not for our tastebuds) Portion size 10/10 quite a lot Egg was yummy and flavorful. The broth wasn't as flavorful and couldn't really taste the miso. The pork had great texture just not much flavor. Noodles were fine Bento box (pork) 8/10 Quite a lot of pork, was crunchy and juicy. But was missing flavor. Comes with bqq sauce on the side. Tempura was cooked nice and crunchy, not as seasoned. Rice was fine along with Cali roll 4pcs. Salad was good Overall better than a lot of places but it's only our 1st time and there's a lot on the menu to try.

Yelp
We came here for lunch. It is so cute inside with cherry blossom trees. We got the lunch special which is so filling and affordable. Service was so fast, attentive, and kind. We ordered the San Bernardino roll and the Fantasy Roll, absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Yelp
I've been waiting for this place to open for, forever!! I'm so glad it's open now and we have a sushi spot in downtown! I came here later in the evening and I was attended quickly and so the staff is friendly, and they speak both English and Spanish well! We ordered 3 rolls and they were all so fresh, so neatly made and pretty! Nothing opened up or rolled out, it was excellent! The California roll was yummy and just as you'd imagine.. the spicy tuna was fresh, and the baked scallops were my favorite! I almost always order this everywhere I go and it was a 10/10 here! We didn't order the ramen, but everyone around me did, I will definitely have to come back to try them, the bowls where huge and looked yummy, the little girl sitting near me was just going on and on how delish it was.. the place is also nicely decorated, everything is new spacious and cute. The tables are booth style but the table and bench move so you can adjust them yourself. 10/10 would come again and recommend. They also take tap to pay.

Victoria G.

Yelp
I just ordered to go the salmon roll and miso soup. Disappointed so far for the price I paid I received a half full container of soup!!! Plus the waiter kept giving me a dull dirty look.

Isaac F.

Yelp
The food tasty mid kinda water down, overhyped and expensive then what it shows. Wouldn't recommend wasting your money here and find another ramen shop. I've had better ramen.

E M.

Yelp
Highly recommend Osaska House of Ramen & Sushi, please come enjoy your self amazing food and service. Fist time here, recommend the Yellow Jalapeño so amazing!!!! Next, I ordered the Baja California, Cheifs Roll completely delicioso!!! Final order, Jalapeño Bomb...ugh to perfection from the Jalapeño to the Cream Cheese. Paiired with Kirin Ichiban. Yelp
Service: It took them like 20 minutes to take our orders. We also had to flag someone down to get a refill on our drinks and bring us a bill as well. However, the inside is very clean and modern! Tempura udon: The udon was solid, but we wished the tempura came with sauce? However the texture of it was very crunchy without it being too oily. Baja California: The yellowtail was fresh and melts in your mouth. We really liked how the jalapeño and the spicy sauce gave a good kick and didn't overpower the fish itself. Firecracker: Solid, but nothing special. Crazy tuna: We wished the ratio of rice to fish was greater because we thought it was a little too mushy. However, we liked how the tuna from the inside and outside gave different textures. Philadelphia: Again another solid dish, but nothing special Lemon salmon: We wished the lemon was a little stronger, but the fish itself and the sauce paired very well together.

Yelp
Nice new restaurant located in the plaza by Marshall's. Not much to look at from the outside but as you enter it was a pleasant surprise to see a well designed newly renovated restaurant that is very spacious. Service was friendly and quick. We enjoyed the Lemon Sushi, shrimp and crab fried rice as well their ramen. Nice addition to the area and we will definitely be back.

Yelp
Beautiful interior, fast and friendly service. We got our food out so fast. I got vegan ramen and it was delicious! Definitely didn't expect such a nice place in this neighborhood.

Yelp
Stopped by for a quick lunch after I had training in San Bernardino. The server was friendly and expedited my order. The salmon bento box was cooked well. I plan to take my family when we are in the area again.

Yelp
Awesome place! Decor 10/10 Food 10/10 location for me is a 10/10 because I live up the street. The building is located in the same shopping center as Marshall's in downtown San Bernardino. Yes I know San Bernardino gets a bad rap and can seem dangerous but this place is worth it! Amazing customer service too. This is my new sushi spot. Fish was so fresh and good quality. I don't know if they do ayce.

Yelp
First time here I kept seeing it all over Facebook so I decided to give it a try there used to be an old Payless here they remodeled pretty beautifully. I never thought this would become a restaurant. It wasn't as busy, and the staff was friendly, could have been a little bit more attentive especially with the water refills or side of sauces we requested initially they didn't bring it to us till almost when we were already almost done with our food Food was ok I feel like compared to other places the portions here are much smaller The menu is pretty large. They have a variety of food.

Yelp
As a sushi and ramen lover, I was very excited to hear that a restaurant like Osaka House opened so close to home. My partner and I went grand opening week and were so impressed with the food, service, and environment! We ordered an appetizer, a few rolls, and a couple of the daily ports. I didn't include any pictures of the daily ports, but we ordered the halibut and black snapper - so good! The daily port is served as a 2-piece sushi and both were fresh. The takoyaki was perfectly cooked and the staff was incredibly sweet. Service was perfect! Some people might knock on the location, but the inside environment is so friendly and decorated nicely. A new favorite!

Marissa J.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised upon entering the restaurant, it was very charming and welcoming. Our server Hudson was on it!! He made sure we were taken care of from the moment we sat down. Ramen and sushi were very good, definitely coming back to this spot !

Yelp

Yelp
Absolute favorite sushi place!! The flavor combinations are very tasty and we enjoyed everything we ordered. They don't have AYCE but they still have decently sized portions, my husband and I shared 4 rolls and a few nigiri pieces and we were stuffed!! Oh! The garlic edamame is chefs kiss, a must try. I personally love the cherry blossom trees in the middle of the restaurant. Service is great, very attentive and they make sure you are adequately served with your sushi. And I know this isn't just me but I appreciated the sushi chefs were ethnically appropriate don't @ me!!

Yelp
This place is different it's like Japanese Mexican fusion with a huge variety of non sushi items that everyone can enjoy. The portions are large and people bring their families for that reason. Try the spicy tuna nachos they are crazy. The rolls are decent priced but the bento boxes are the best thing for someone who wants a little bit of everything. The location is not the best plaza but once you walk into the restaurant it feels like a totally different place. The staff was nice but our salad was canceled since they brought it out at the end of our meal. I say try it there something for everyone .

Yelp
Very good spot. The food was very good, the service was amazing and the ambiance was nice. Regarding the service, the staff is very nice. Probably one of the nicest looking sushi spots in San Bernardino.

Yelp
We came here for an early Mother's Day dinner. We were very impressed. This is some odd the best sushi I've had in awhile. Service was great. New restaurant = new wait staff, but everybody worked very hard and we're very attentive. Restaurants is clean. Environment and decor are like walking into another world from where it's located. I'm looking forward to more nice business coming into this area. Hopefully this gets the ball rolling. Sushi was excellent. Platter was served with dry ice so there was "smoke" around the plate. Very nice touch. Crispy rice appetizer was unique and one of my new favorite selections. No other restaurant has it. Fish was very fresh. Everything we had was good. Can't wait to come back here again!

Yelp
The service provided by the servers was really remarkable, and professional. The food was excellent and affordable, I had two sushi roll plates for under thirty dollars. The ambiance was impressive as well. The Thai tea with no boba is so underrated, and worth the try.

The atmosphere of the restaurant was great even down to the lighting, silverware, and small details. Food was delicious. Can't wait to go back, you can tell how caring everyone is by the taste and consideration. Favorites; San Bernardino roll and tonkotsu ramen

Yelp
The service was great! The vibes were cool Our waitress was awesome but I wish the food was as good . I get it they are starting but I feel like there's better sushi places around here. But they made the old Payless shoe store look cool!
