This is a good place to go when they have sampling events, but might not have what you normally purchase at other stores. The lots can become full in a hurry, if you do not arrive early or before closing.

I'm just going to review the little restaurant inside. It is super slow and they overcharge! They have menus on the walls, on the glass all over the place. I have not tried the electronic ordering they have in the restaurant. Each time I went, there was somebody at the screen, so I ordered direct from cashier. Their Teriyaki chicken had too much rice for me, but only because I'm pre-dianetic. But they use rice direct from Japan, and it is delicious.

Osaka Marketplace is my go-to spot in Milpitas! They have a huge variety of Japanese food options, from snacks and pantry items to fresh produce. The highlight for me is definitely the meat section — always high quality, fresh, and perfect for cooking at home. I always come here when I need good cuts of meat, and they never disappoint. A great place for anyone who loves Japanese groceries and ingredients

Many of the porcelain items sold at this supermarket already have visible cracks. When I brought this issue to the staff, they politely declined my return since it was beyond their 7-day return policy—which I completely respect. However, I felt offended by their response. I was told that “many customers don’t store porcelain properly and cause the damage themselves,” and that because I waited so long, “they couldn’t be sure I didn’t break it myself.” I hope the store takes more care in checking product quality and considers handling such feedback with more tact.

Lots of cool things. Bought a few things, prices where not bad compared to other places I’ve shop at with same products. Will go back.

Google
Because of the food court, if I could give this place -1 star I certainly would. I will never recommend this place. Beef was served room temperature. Bowl soup was below average at best, and that’s being generous.

My favorite grocery place in the Bay Area. You can find a lot of seasonal special products from local farm or overseas. Highly recommend!

Google
Great selection of produce, fresh vegetables and herbs. I love radish sprouts. I can add them in nearly every dish including soups and omelets. They also have fresh wasabi! And of course sashimi, sushi and many other Japanese dishes that are ready to eat. There is also a small food court where you can sit down and eat. Also dessert selection seems inviting but I haven’t tried any yet.

Yelp
This is our neighborhood Japanese market . This past Saturday it had an Osaka festival. They were selling tickets at the front entrance for their fresher made food . Inside I stopped by two different counters . A red leave called Red Shiso that tasted like raspberry drink . It could be mixed with beer or other drinks , or it could be mixed with ice water 2:1 ( juice 2 to 1 water ) ratio . It tasted great . I also love the imitated crab meat hand sushi demonstrations and sampling. The whole store has a lot of different merchandise: kitchen ware , ready to eat sushi , sashimi, bento boxes for grilled fish , chicken , fried calamari, hand rolls , etc . That also have a wide selection of premium beef , chicken and poke , fish , frozen hamachi Kama for grilling , fresh vegetables and drinks . This is a good market with many choices .

Yelp
Cute little Japanese market! I didn't get to explore it too much since we had to go somewhere, but it definitely brought back good memories of Japan. They had all sorts of foods, vegetables, fruit, snacks! I was impressed with their makeup selection and had fun browsing through everything. The line was quick, but it was around 10am on a Sunday. I will have to come back and shop around some more!

Yelp
Wowwwww this place is amazing. The BIGGEST selection of Japanese cosmetics I've ever seen outside of Japan! They also have an amazing matcha and mochi selection, ceramics, mochi donuts, fresh onigiri, Japanese cleaning products, tons of organizational storage and home goods, fruit, milk tea, and sushi. The store is huge, super clean, and staff are so sweet. I could spend literal hours browsing. I came here for the fresh salmon ikura, and I also ended up grabbing: yuzu juice, daifuku mochi, an $18 case of fresh uni from Santa Barbara, a cute travel mirror and organic lip gloss. For the ladies -- PROTIP this is a great place to purchase organic Japanese pads. I know some girls stock up on those on trips to Japan, they are just so superior by design. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
There aren't any fish markets near me, so whenever I'm in the area, I make it a point to stop here. Their fish is fresh and packaged well, and I like that they have an ice bucket for you to scoop ice and take with you to keep your raw food cold. If you come after 4 PM, their hot food, sushi and pastry items are all marked down 20%. This includes sashimi platters! On the weekends, the selection is usually pretty good, but idk about weekdays around 4 PM. Each sushi roll is about $12.99-14.99 before discount. The rice isn't overly heavy but it obviously isn't as soft as freshly rolled sushi. A few pieces fell apart when I picked them up, but I appreciate that each had good filling to rice ratio. They have little stickers along the top to tell you what is in each roll. Sashimi platters are placed separately from the sashimi bowls and sushi rolls, just a FYI. I almost missed them when I last went! I got the flaming roll, sumo roll and the special bonito #3 plate for about $40. I feel like this was priced well after the 20% discount, so would def come back to try more next time. The sumo roll had a torched salmon on top which I thought I would love but it ended up just making the fish on top super dry. The flaming roll tasted more fresh so I ended up liking that one more of the two. All the sashimi in my plate was super fresh. While I didn't end up eating the rice under the fish, I think the ratio of fish and rice was appropriate for a meal. I wish they had extra soy sauce packets on the side somewhere but they do offer you chopsticks at checkout. They have your standard selection of Japanese snacks and goods. Their ceramic bowls and plates are super cute, and they seem to have a pretty fast check out system with all lanes open during the weekend. They have a security guard at the door who checks your receipt btw. Parking is okay, there's a shared lot in the plaza but it's pretty busy as there are a lot of yummy stores in the plaza (Pineapple King, Happy Lemon, etc).

Yelp
Who can resist all the fun and fascinating snacks from Japan and Korea? So glad they're just a fingertip away! I always enjoy browsing the aisles at Osaka Supermarket--it's a treasure trove of tasty discoveries. Service is great and line was fast. Love the ambiance is like you are in Asia.

Yelp
I've visited this Japanese marketplace at least 4x since discovering it last month during a house remodeling adventure in Fremont area. To be expected, we got the munchies and I went to my handy dandy helper - Yelpie - to assist finding us some good snacks in between our remodel hunt. Very lucky to have found this gem and for this amazing HH pricing too! After 5pm, all room temp/cool ready to eat items -- inari, poke bowls, nigiri, onigiris, bento boxes --- all 20% off. Selection varies! 5/5 Inari - perfect seasoned inari! Don't event meet soy sauce 6/5 Salmon Aburi - this is my 4th time visiting and I've never seen salmon Aburi here. Boy am I so glad I did!! It is my all time favorite. Not pictured cause it was devoured too quickly: 3/5 Beef Onigiri - never had this one before either. It was marinated well but happened to get too much rice ratio to protein on this one. 5/5 Salmon Mayo Onigiri - the way these things are packaged are so ingenious. My first time opening, I felt like I was living in 2030. Japanese makers found a way to properly separate the nori from the rice during packaging so it doesn't get soggy or moist while it's waiting to be purchased. Super cool! 5/5 Urchin - my bf loved this one! I normally don't enjoy this type so I did not try personally. 5/5 Mixed Poke Bowl - great variety of fish to rice ratio. Shoyu sauce (included) really brings out the flavors of the fish. You don't need much. Don't forget to ask for napkins and chopsticks at the register! Of course, I highly recommend and I will definitely be back forever until I move out of the area hahahahahaha! It's also worth the drive from Alameda!

Yelp
Japanese food court situated within a Japanese market. The food was cheap but tasted amazing! Definitely exceeded my expectations. The Katsu bowl was around $9. Self order at the kiosk and they will call your order. I also recommend looking around at the ready made food inside the market. They have really fresh looking sushi, sashimi, grilled hamachi, bbq bowls, etc. all for an affordable price.

Yelp
I always get the nigiri and it just piles up to close to $40. This time I went with the small sashimi plate. $28.99 After 20% off its $23. Just had to come here today after the reno trip. This would be like 30-$50 in restaurants all day.. cook some rice and its a pretty full meal I think best strategy is just go for one thing and straight to the cashier. Don't keep on looking at the other stuff. Don't let temptation get u

Yelp
This Asian market has everything that you can imagine from prepared food, bake goods, t-shirts, to regular Asian grocery. Walking in, can be overwhelming with the many prepared food. So many to choose. They have extensive sushi, sashimi and hot pot offerings too. There's a lot to check out if you are into Asian market.

Yelp
This grocery store is my go-to for fresh fish and ready to eat japanese meals! I recently got a huge sashimi platter with tuna, salmon, hamachi, scallops, masago and seaweed salad for $40 after the evening discounts and the quality was amazing for a platter from a grocery store. I used it to make hand rolls. Would recommend! The poke bowls and sushi seem great as well. I've tried the Too Good To Go order from the deli here too and the value is really good for $5. A box of mochi donuts, potato coquettes, and a small meat plate. I can always find parking here in the lot as well.

Yelp
Quick synopsis - 4 stars for the actual marketplace, 2 stars for the food at the food court, ao averaged it out to 3 start. I was getting an alignment done on my car nearby and the wife and I are travelling to Japan in October so we've been trying to immerse ourselves in Japanese culture lately, (going to Japantown in SJ and SF). We decided to eat lunch here and kill some time. The food court has a decent array of options with Ramen, Curry, even Wagyu sandwiches and Takoyaki, (though the menu says "Tacoyaki"). They supposedly have Suishi there too but there was a sign that said that they were out and would be back in 15 minutes. This was wrong because we were there for about 45 minutes total and nobody ever came back. You order from a kiosk so if you want to ask questions about things you're kind of SOL. I ordered the beef Ramen and Wagyu sandwich because I wanted to try it. The wife got Tonkatsu Curry. The Ramen and Curry came out pretty fast, but we ended up waiting quite a while for the Wagyu sandwich. I went back to the counter a couple of times to ask about it and was told they forgot about it. They gave me the option of getting a refund but I wanted to try the thing so I decided to wait. The worker ended up giving a skewer of Tempura Shrimp because of our wait but even that was a little weird. It wasn't just a piece of Ebi. It had something squishy inside as well, like some sort of paste or something. It was very off-putting and I only ended up having 1 bite of the Tempura. As for the Ramen and Curry, they were ok. The beef on my Ramen was super over cooked but still ended up having a decent texture. But the noodles were definitely just something out of a package that you can probably buy in the store. The Tonkatsu was pretty good. As for the Wagyu sandwich we waited so long for, well it certainly was not worth the wait. There was way too much cole slaw on it so that ended up being pretty much all I tasted. When I took off the cole slaw and tried just the meat, it was pretty salty. Very disappointing. Hopefully the Wagyu in Japan is better. After lunch we walked around the market and had a good time picking out snacks and drinks. So the market section is cool but the food court kinda sucks.

Yelp
A quick update. I've been going here occasionally and actually pretty frequently in the past year as I have discovered the crab sando and shrimp katsu sando. I've tried all of their sandos and these are the two we always go back to. We went again recently around lunch time on a Sunday and finding parking was hard. It was a battlefield. When I used to go, it was around 1:30pm on Fridays which wasn't too bad. The crowd inside around the premade food Sunday was also quite busy. I've never had to wait for folks to be able to grab what I wanted. So quite lively inside during peak times. Multiple check out stands were open though which was nice. I always have to tell the cashier I have a rewards account as they seem to want to jump ahead to payment. I'm always midway entering my phone number before they cut me off. Oh well. They end up entering it on their end. Still a lovely market with various asian goods but with more a Japanese lean. I will always be back as long as they have their premade food items so I can get a quick lunch!

Yelp
A small market with plenty of goodies. If you're looking for a particular Japanese made item, you just may find it here. It needs a bit of organization, but it's a fun place to shop!

Yelp
Woooo what a fun Japanese marketplace! Groceries, beauty products, Sanrio goodies, candy, snacks, hot food, sushi. It's a pretty big place with discounted 20% off food boxes at night. Not sure if every night or the details because I stumbled in randomly, I was there on Saturday 7:30pm The Sanrio and Miffy items are pretty pricey. Fun to look at but no buying for me Fun Sanrio tote bags available for $3 with many designs. Quality is ok, wrinkles quick with each fold due to the material. I can't help myself from scooping those up because it's only $3! Some very interesting Asian produce like Taiwanese cabbage that is FLAT shaped. You ever seen such a thing?! And PINK PINEAPPLES, what?! Has Japanese food items and pastries and cakes you don't see normally around in other Bay Area supermarkets. A little taste of Japan to have here while you're suffering from JAPAN FOMO and waiting to plan your next trip there

Yelp
The market as a whole is japan heaven, I have only ever found 2 places in California that sells newish Kamen rider toys and this is one of them. Of course they got sashimi and sushi area They also got lots of bentos like a lot and onigiris Now for the food court area (yes they have a food court area) Karage skewer, extremely crunchy in the best way. Nice big pieces, nice and hot despite technically not being fresh. Near the end of chewing, noticed it was a lil too salty, and this is said by me who loves salty more than anyone in my family Tldr; best crunch, too salty Yakitori, some burnt parts but its fine. So much meat that i cant even hold it with a hand, i gotta hold it like a corn. Slippery on my tongue cause oil, but its not too oily, yet. Flavor isnt really strong but theres still flavor, just subtle. The best part about this is the texture, extremely tender, really easy to chew. Tldr; mid flavor, extremely tender Over all a good experience and especially all for only 11 bucks Self serve take out Self serve water Everything self serve besides food lol The food court restaurants dont really have a name? I think the skewer place I went to is called Happy Kokkekoko chicken as said below their table, not entirely sure Great food court, lovely chairs super comfortable Not too busy, I saw 2 people having a chat for like forever, i also saw small family for a bit and one worker would usually hang out in one of the chairs during their break too but still enough chairs for me to get the good ones (a couch) Food was delivered to me Awesome market, I would frequent it more if it wasnt so far from me 5/5 for the market For the restaurant I went to, despite it's flaws, the quality and quantity of food was still way worth it for the price and comfortable seating so 5/5 also

Yelp
First time stoping by Osaka and the food looks amazing and tastes great. All the to go sushi and meat items were fresh. The store was clean and nice looking. The check outline were fast. I am looking forward to come back again!

Yelp
Super delicious take out sushi! I got both a roll and a nigiri set, but the quality of the fish really shines through the nigiris! Highly recommend!

Yelp
I'm in love with this place! We went on a Sat around 11 AM and luckily it wasn't as crowded. Parking can be tight since it's in a plaza where there are other restaurants around. They mainly have Asian/Japanese groceries but also kitchen appliances, makeup, hair/skin care, LOTS of hot foods. They have a variety of Japanese hot foods that you can grab and go. The price is reasonable and the quality is high. They had sushi rolls, sashimi, sushi bowls, katsu, tempura, onigiri, spam musubi, and mochi donuts. They all sit cold since it's on the fridge - I'd recommend heating it up at home. There's a mini food court on the side where you can order or sit and eat the foods that you bought from the supermarket. Overall, I would definitely be coming back!

Yelp
Man I had heard much talk about this place, and the reviews looked great. So, I didn't even think twice when I bought my mom some nice Japanese rice from Osaka Marketplace. Little did I know that my family and I would be getting free extra bugs in our rice. It's like winning a lotto except worse. I don't know if this is a one-off but not a very good first impression. Highly suggest to check all your groceries ASAP after purchase.

Yelp
Cute Japanese market. Good variety of things. I like the ready made rolls and bowls. Pretty tasty stuff. I got an Albacore roll and Chirashi bowl. Both were fresh and chewy. And it's not terribly far from where we live. Service was nice and friendly. And inside seemed clean! Private lot in front!!
google avatar

Yelp
Love coming to Osaka Marketplace! We came on Sunday around noon. It was not busy. We love getting their sushi roll and sashimi! Also they have lots of Japanese skincare which I love when I can't go to Japan for them! They also have rewards points you can get by applying it online!
google avatar

Janet T.

Yelp
I came grocery shopping here after lunch. Whenever I am in the area, I would come here. They have some good selection of bakeries. Previous day bakeries if there is any left are always 20% off. I see lots mochi donuts left. A good place to drop by if you are in the area. My husband likes to get sushimi here once in awhile especially if there is closing sales or discounts.
google avatar

Melanie H.

Yelp
I came here on a whim around 5pm-ish and snagged items that were marked down 20%. Sashimi is excluded from this discount. Considering it was the end of the day, I was genuinely impressed by the fish quality. The marketplace also has made-to-order food for dine in or take out. The nigiri and sashimi slabs are such a bang for your buck. Perfect for when you want a quick, balanced bite or when you have time to cut sashimi. --GRAB AND GO-- CHUTORO NIGIRI: 5/5 ($18.95 to ~$15) HAMACHI NIGIRI: 5/5 ($10.99 to ~$9) SALMON NIGIRI: 5/5 ($10.99 to ~$9) + All of these melt in your mouth as expected! You get 5 pieces of nigiri for this price, which is a great value for such quality fish + Better nigiri than some other sushi restaurants I've been to SALMON SASHIMI: 5/5 (~$11-$19) + Such a bang for your buck! The quality is amazing for the $15 slab of salmon we chose, and it made for 2-3 servings of sashimi! --MADE TO ORDER-- ICHIBAN TEN DON: 4.5/5 ($18) + Selection had good variety, and they were all tasty! Light batter with hearty pieces of veggies and shrimp UNAGI TAMA DONBURI: 2.5/5 ($15) + Unagi was delicious but way too overpowered by the pickled radish in the bowl. I wouldn't get this again

Yelp
I was able to try sushi from this market using the Too Good to Go app - lucky me because these orders usually go very quickly! This is a relatively new Japanese market located in Warm Springs, Fremont and housed in a plaza with other Asian restaurants (including Boiling Point) and bakery (Pineapple King). It's pretty big and sells everything from boxed sushi to Japanese products such as shampoo, make-up, and even edible souvenirs. I saw my favorite brand of cookie all the way from Hokkaido, Japan - would make a great holiday gift for the office or someone who enjoys unique snacks. (Of course, since it's imported the prices reflect that.) The sushi rolls I got to try were pretty good - and you can't beat the price for the amount of food I got! I did heat them up at home to make it more of a warm, spicy roll. Pickup was easy, quick, and everything was beautifully presented. Lots of fresh seafood options on display, including sashimi, raw and prepared fish, and much more. I hope to come back here to try their deli (a friend told me the deli is better than the sushi in terms of too good to go) and other delectables!
google avatar

Christine S.

Yelp
This Japanese market has the biggest selection of chirashi dons, rice bowls, and sushi/sashimi options I've ever seen! I loved perusing the seafood aisle and trying to decide which one to get, since there's so many different options! I ended up with the Hokkaido don, which was $19 and includes salmon, scallop, ikura, uni, crab, and shrimp. There's also lots of sashimi platters and sushj rolls, so hope to come back and try one of the other options! I also saw some cute cards, key chains, and pins by local artists

Yelp
Oh, how the mighty have fallen. We've been to Osaka a couple of other times since our last review without writing updates. I can't help but wonder if that was a mistake. I think that for those who are new to Osaka, there is a certain amount of excitement to be had on their selection of grab and go foods and groceries. However, having exalted their business in the past and comparing those experiences to what we saw today, we are no longer fans. Sashimi and Sushi is much more than slices of raw fish and rice. There is technical technique to blocking the fish to create the best looking and eating slices. The rice must be properly seasoned. The rolls should be uniform and round. When looking at both the sashimi and the sushi today, it was obvious that the quality of the knife work has suffered. Uneven cuts make the food less than attractive. Food that is not attractive will not taste as good as food that is. While we were in the store, there was an employee who was loading cooked grab and go bento's onto a single deck reach-in cooler. As we watched, she moved various items and stacked them to accommodate all the freshly made items on her cart. The problem with this is that all refrigeration has a maximum load limit. When you stack items above the load limit, those items will not stay at safe food storage temperatures. The general rule is under 40-degrees Fahrenheit or over 140-degrees Fahrenheit. Between those two temperatures is an invitation for bacteria to reproduce and make people sick. We looked at the various sashimi and sushi and it simply was not attractive. The larger special combo's had uni in them that looked dark in color and unattractive. I won't say that it wasn't good to eat but I will say that I will not purchase any of their sashimi or sushi again until the quality has improved. I believe that they need to bring in a quality control expert to oversee what is being put on the shelves. I would have taken some photos of the issues that I'm describing but there were several signs at the front doors that prohibit photography without permission. We also noticed that both the produce section and grocery shelves were not full. Some items were faced up and there were holes in many places. Another indication of possible problems is that there were only two check stands open. On our previous visits, there were usually three or four check stands in use. We were there today on a Wednesday at about 11:00am. We're hoping that this was a one-time fluke and not an indicator of the direction that this business is going in.

Yelp
Standard Japanese Market. I was specifically looking for artisan Japanese cookies...those delicate wafer like cookies. Other Japanese grocery stores have way better selection. But for a run of the mill Japanese grocery store, and you're close by, this is a fine place.

Yelp
Extremely Disappointed - Misleading "Free Birthday Cake" Email! I normally don't write reviews, but this experience was unacceptable and felt like a bait-and-switch tactic. A few days before my birthday, I received what looked like a legitimate email from Osaka Marketplace offering me a free birthday cake as a perk for being part of their rewards program. It seemed like a nice gesture, so despite the store being a bit far from me, I made the trip. Once there, I did some shopping--bought meat, sashimi, and snacks--expecting to pick up my free birthday cake at checkout as advertised. But when I showed the email to the cashier, I was told it was just a test email and there's no cake. No apology, no explanation--just a vague claim that they were "testing" email. If it was a test, why send it right before someone's birthday? Why not clearly label it as a test? This felt incredibly deceptive--almost like a deliberate trick to lure customers into the store, knowing most people will end up buying something once they're there. This kind of practice may or may not be common in Japan, but in the U.S., this is absolutely unacceptable. It damages customer trust and loyalty. I walked out feeling scammed and insulted, and I want to warn others: Don't fall for misleading emails from this store. If this is how they handle promotions and customer communication, I won't be returning--and I suggest others think twice as well.

Yelp
Looking for a Japanese Market carrying hard to find Japanese goods, as well as, fresh sushi and bento boxes? Osaka Marketplace might just be the spot for you. Taking over the old 99 Ranch location, this store made a great job renovating the place and making it thematically relevant. The cash registers are named after Japanese streets, the vibe is on point and the store is kept clean. The parking lot is shared with many popular businesses nearby so keep that it mind; it can get busy. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They always greeted us with a smile and helping hand. The selection is nice and they do carry some goods you can't usually find even at other specialty Asian stores. Their sushi section and quality is surprisingly good and some of their bento boxes are killer. Prices can be a bit more competitive but nothing too crazy. Overall, this is a great store for your Japanese needs

Yelp
This little gem in Fremont is definitely understated... they have all the usual Japanese fanfare, decent sake selection, but the star is the deli section. Large selection of assorted sushi , Onigiri w/ Salmon, unagi, tuna. Bentos with a plethora of items including Gyutan, mackerel, katsu, tempura, salmon and more! Desserts are plenty and the promo after 4pm is 20% OFF! Most items are priced moderately but the promo makes it that much better...! If you need a quick lunch to go or don't feel like cooking tonight, this is the spot to fill up! Arigato!

Yelp
Osaka Marketplace is a new(ish) Japanese grocery store new to the Fremont area. Clean, organized, and just a fun place to shop at and to window shop also. They have a lot of goodies to buy like pre-packaged sushi and sashimi, sandos, onigiris, tempura, etc. Also, inside the market, they have a small food court to get ramen, fried foods, mochi donuts, etc.

Yelp
I came here to pickup something for lunch at the deli department, but I had some finds today at Osaka Japanese market! I found guava jams from Hawaii. I used to carry them back from Hawaii on a carry on I'm surprised to find them here! Or maybe I just didn't notice them before since I don't usually browse on this isle... hahaha Another great find today is the ceramic products they had right by the deli area. They have variety of small appetizer plates and different sizes of bowls, made in Japan. Some of the bigger bowls are only $1.99! Bargain prices! Most of the prices of the items are only $1.99 each.

Yelp
We were in town for a 3 day vball tournament. Ate all our meals from Osaka. The hot food area is very reasonably priced. Portions are large. We had a fridge in the hotel so bought poke bowls for dinner and cold bentos. Mochi donuts are delicious. Much tastier than chains around Northern CA. Consistency of the dough is more like mochi. Green tea was our favorite. Produce section has peeled and washed taro. Very happy with this find. Also picked up Japanese eggplant and purple sweet potatoes for fair prices. Not WF prices.

Yelp
Definitely a hidden gem, this place is never packed whenever I go, and I'm not complaining! My girls & I love this store! We love the ready to eat section - such as sushi, bento boxes, onigiris & much more. They have fresh premade fruit sandwiches daily, & tons of yummy snacks so no need to travel to the 7-11 Japan. The candy section goes crazy. The service was nice, fast & easy. Overall will be coming here more often.

Yelp
If left to my own devices, I could spend quite a bit shopping here - there are so many options, the staff is friendly, and it's usually busy (always a good sign in my opinion). It's organized, clean, and fun to look around. The grab-and-go meal options are plentiful; I've tried a few and they've all been tasty. Last time, I picked up the crab salad sandwich and some shrimp chips. Very convenient location, close to many other businesses you should also check out!

Yelp
I am torn. Do I tell people the secret we learned so the business can thrive or do I keep it hidden? Well... given that I always am for sharing information and helping others out, I'll share. We decided to have a Sashimi party. Problem is, we had no hook ups to get high quality fish that's safe to eat as sashimi (Notice I didn't say "Sashimi grade?") like restaurants do. Nor do we have access to places like Catalina Offshore Products from when we lived in San Diego. So what do we do? We go to Osaka because we've had their sushi they sell in the back and it was decent. Almost go as far as saying good. My wife walked in and just straight up asked to talk to the lead in the fish department. I NEVER would have thought to do that. (Hint: She's smarter than me and I definitely married up. I digress because this is a review of Osaka, not my wife). We talked to Luis. Sorry Luis if I spelled your name wrong. He asked us what we wanted and we told him. He got us our prices for the things we wanted and discussed the options we had for each. Did we want a whole Ahi? NO! That's too dang big. Do we want half? I mean... I do but it's still too big. Do we want a half salmon filet? Yes please! Do you want a box of scallops? Well... he called it Hotate (just shows he knows his stuff) and it was great. Overall, we spent about $250 at Osaka for half a salmon, half a Hamachi loin, and a box of 1kg of Hotate. It was all DAMN good. All the fish was fresh, the salmon was nice and fatty. The ONLY thing we'd say is a drawback to this is that you need to cut it yourself. Honestly though, if you're going to be trying to have a sushi party, you should be trying to cut it yourself. We will 1000% be going back to Osaka for this. Hopefully this review doesn't create a surge in demand and cause them to up their prices.

Yelp
Love that we have a local Japanese market with ready-to-go, fresh, and delicious food. This market has everything you need and even has a beauty section, plushie section, and kitchenware section. The staff are helpful. I'm impressed with how big this store is, as most Japanese or Asian markets I go to that aren't franchised are usually on the smaller side. I love coming here !

Yelp
I love to go there for 20% off on the deli and desserts after 4 pm. There are some hits and misses on certain takeouts. What I love: Fresh fish, fresh meat, and cheap produce. Nice selection of Japanese snacks and cookies. The Hawaiian aisle sometimes carries frozen manapua (char siu buns), poi, and Zippy's entree. They even have Kauai cookies that I've seen growing up. There's so much sashimi, sushi, onigiri, and hot deli, including desserts from Anderson Bakery and mochi from a small shop, including fruit sando, pudding, cakes, Mont Blanc parfaits and mochi donuts to indulge in. What I don't like: The spam musubi have too much rice, including the onigiri. All the hot deli items are in the fridge section. They should invest in a heat lamp bar to prevent food poisoning and save the inconvenience of finding a microwave. Pricey sashimi and tuna cuts. If you want more value, might as well go to Costco for a bigger piece. The cashiers are pleasant. They even provide utensils for your takeouts if you ask for one. The supermarket is clean and spacious, with Japanese imported goods. If you sign up for their membership card, you can collect more points and use it as a discount on your next purchase. Parking is hectic during lunch and dinner hours due to nearby restaurants, especially on weekends.

Yelp
One of my favorite Japanese grocery markets in the bay! Everything is neat and well kept. You can find a lot of essentials ranging from Japanese import products to wagyu to common house hold items. There's also a mini food court inside with some really good skewers! And the best part imo, the daily prepped meals.

Yelp
We love going to Japan town grocery in San Francisco. Items and selection in this market are awesome. We went home with a bag of goodies. Place was organized. Service was great and food was delicious. We tried the food from the restaurant area and from the market event outside for their anniversary and we were greeted with so friendly staff.

Yelp
Osaka Marketplace opened in vacated 99 Ranch store. Store jam packed with goodies. Check out is quick. As lines get long, more cashiers are called. Parking is difficult on weekends & peak times. Food court offerings: sushi, udon, mochi donuts, curry plates, donburis, bento box, coffee, chicken karaage... Departments: fresh meats/seafood, groceries, produce, beauty products, cakes, mochi, pastries, sushi/sashimi packs to go. Buys: "house" curry sauce, mild (2.49) -ready to use, mild. Had carrots, potato, veggies Slightly watery. Nothing special Menraku spicy seame ramen (2.69) -broth msg enhanced, slightly spicy, noodles typical Instant noodle quality. Raoh Unami Miso ramen (2.49) -nonfried noodles elevated noods to restaurant quality -miso broth very tasty, has mucho additives, veggie flavor extracts. Worthy! Repeatable! 4.5 stars: top quality products, reasonable pricing, quik check-out. Parking issues main negative.

Yelp
I've told two different cashiers that their soy milk is expired and they said they will tell the manager. Two weeks later they are still selling expired products for consumer consumption . I hope people are checking the expiration of their food products.

Yelp
I love this market whenever I am able to stop by. Such good finds at reasonable prices. They also offer a discount in the evening off their sushi and deli items. Clean and organized store too. Wish there was one closer!

Yelp
Came here Friday around 4:15pm and saw staff putting 20% off stickers on the sushi rolls and nigiri area. There was also 20% off in the variety of sashimi platter area. The staff kept bringing out more sushi rolls. The sashimi platter was a really good deal. Although the sashimi wasn't as fresh as Suruki or Mitsuwa but it's still fresh enough and on the way home for us. Not sure if the individual sashimi area will have discount or not. We waited until 5pm and didn't see any other discount.

Yelp
Haven't been here for quite a long time and now I find their prices far more competitive than before even better than dining out at a Japanese restaurants. Coming out here on a weekday is the best time ample parking lots of surrounding businesses. They have fresh Asian produce and veggies lotus root, edamame (soybean). daikon, napa cabbage, nagaimo Japanese yam. bok choy, shiitake mushrooms and bean sprouts good enough to make soup or serve as a side dish. I usually head for the prepackage bento, freshly made poke, sushi rolls and sashimi platter. They do have fresh baked goods freshly sealed wrapped loved the bean custard buns and rolls. The best part they have a 20% off on some baked goods, bento, poke even sushi rolls.

Yelp
To start out, Osaka Marketplace is just that. It is a huge market plus bakery attached. I spent time in Japan and I consider Osaka Marketplace to be the closest to actually being in Japan. There may be other Japanese businesses in the San Francisco Bay Area that may be similar but I'm not aware of any. Besides sushi and hundreds of various food stuffs, they carry a huge selection of frozen fish and meats that are hard to get in the USA. Of course I like the Andersen Bakery brand very much. The service is the best and the staff are friendly and always available to help customers. I try to get to Osaka Marketplace at least every other week. A wonderful addition to the Fremont Warm Springs area.

Yelp
In my personal opinion, I think Osaka is the best bigger Japanese market in the area to buy sashimi (Nijiya next in line, as well as Suruki). As for me, I don't quite like the flavor of sashimi like salmon, toro and etc from other places or that it'll smell more fishy...or that there's a lack in flavor. In this market, everything is very well organized, clean and employees have been very helpful in suggestions or assistance in finding an item. Parking can get a little hard to find in the lot as it's apart of a busy plaza, but it's never too hard to find a spot. I love perusing the cosmetic area next to the entrance where they have a lot of Le Creme products and other Japanese cosmetics/facial goods. Prices here are pretty reasonable for fresh veggies and other products, understandable that other import items are on the pricey end. On the other side of the entrance, it leads to a food court area where you can order fresh meals to eat there or to take home. There's also pre-made meals available, from bento boxes to egg salad sandos. Towards the back left corner of the market is where there's sashimi all nicely packaged, nigiri/sashimi combos and rolls available to grab. I'm not too sure but it's after 5 or 7pm that pre-made food items go on sale for 20% off. Next to the pre-made meals, there's also items from Anderson Bakery and mochi/dango to grab. This market basically has all the Japanese staples that you'll need (including cookware/houseware). Yes...prices aren't the cheapest, but it's not too out there. From fresh sliced shabu shabu meat to veggies and fruits, there's something for everyone. There's also a pretty decent drink selection to try from as well as a good alcohol selection. Final Thoughts: There's also now a new membership program that has rolled out. The rewards rule is $1 = 1 point and 1 point = $.01 to redeem in the future. It is completely free to sign up and you can pick up the membership card in the store. There will be savings in store for members and additional coupons/promotional offers and etc. in the email. For me, I think I can just go on and on about this market as it has become a staple stop for my groceries and other items.
