Osaka Sushi

Went on a Monday during lunch; staff was pleasant. The decor of the restaurant was interesting, but one of the bathroom was poor. The Quality of the AYCE sushi was average. I wish scallops were on the menu. The filet mignon roll gives you only a small bit of meat.

I recently visited Osaka Sushi for the first time with my family. It's an all-you-can-eat place where you order what you want instead of serving yourself. The food was all very tasty, and the service was kind and friendly. The only downside was the wait time for certain items. While appetizers like tempura, soups, and salads came out quickly, the sashimi and sushi took over 30 minutes after our first order—and even the second round was quite slow. Also, when it comes to sashimi and sushi, you're only allowed to order one piece per type per person at a time. That might be fine if you're just two people, but with a larger group, it's not enough, especially if you’re dining with kids or seniors like we were. So I’d recommend this place more for one or two people rather than a big group—it feels more relaxed that way, without the pressure of having to ration the sushi. That said, the food was delicious (especially the rolls!), and we had a good experience overall.

Very good sushi, it was made quickly and tasted good. I would not recommend anything with chicken. It was disgusting. And I didn’t want to say anything, but it has been days and I’m still shocked. The manager was UNPLEASANT and service was TERRIBLE. There was NO effort to keep customers satisfied or ensure orders were taken properly. Given the poor service, I only tipped 10% but the manager had the AUDACITY to ask me why and even for a bigger tip. How inappropriate! NEVER have I been asked to leave a bigger tip. Here’s a tip: improve your customer service and don’t beg for money. You are a pathetic and greedy man. Please only take food away from here.

What satisfies me most about Osaka Sushi is the freshness of the sushi meat and other food, I can feel the tenderness and deliciousness of the meat. The restaurant staff is attentive and enthusiastic, and they are quickly responsive to our needs and provide good service. This is a restaurant worth recommending and I will come again with my friends.

Place is awesome. The owners are super nice. Just had my birthday dinner here and Michael RAN to Stop N Shop to pick up fruit to put in my dessert!! They love their customers. Special Rolls were great as well. Best sushi in the area.

Sushi was amazing here. It was fresh, friendly service and they even offer ice cream :D . There were many vegetarian options from mushroom soup, miso soup, vegetarian gyoza, fried rice, seaweed salad etc. This has certainly become my go to sushi spot. Gotta def come here and taste their food ☺️

One of my favorite AYCE sushi spots in all of the US. Has become a go to meet up with family, coming in from NY. High quality service and food. Always a great welcome and worth the travel.

⸻ The food at Osaka Sushi is absolutely delicious, no doubt about it. I usually come here on weekends for the all-you-can-eat option, which comes to about $65 for two people including taxes and fees. I’m totally fine with paying that price because the quality of the food is great. However, the service can be really frustrating. They seem to pick and choose what food to bring you. For example, I’ll order sushi, soup, edamame, and a few other things, but they’ll bring the sushi first and forget everything else. I keep having to remind them about my soup, which should normally come before the main meal. The young girl who sometimes waits on my table consistently forgets us, while every other table around gets their food promptly. It honestly makes no sense to bring out sushi and Oreo dessert before appetizers. On top of that, when I order something like 10 pieces of yellowtail, I’ll sometimes get only 6. Maybe it’s laziness, I don’t know—but it’s annoying to have to keep asking for the rest. I ended up getting up and leaving early out of frustration because of the terrible service. I love the food here, but the inconsistency and lack of attention really ruin the experience when certain servers are working.

Really good , fresh tasting sushi. One of the most delicious rolls i have wver had! Love the variety with the sushi buffet. We ordered hot and sour soup, shumai ( shrimp dumplings which were amazing!). We also tried :shrimp tempura , veggie dumplings, crazy tuna roll ( my favorite) , rock shrimp and scallion pancakes. All were very good. They had soo many options but we were too full to order more. We went on a friday night and it was $29.99 per person , which is very reasonable for that much food!

I ordered the udon noodle seafood soup and honestly it didn't have much flavor. The "seafood" was mostly baby shrimp and imitation crab, and it felt like more noodles than anything else. My friends did the all-you-can-eat option and they enjoyed it, so maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. Service was on the slower side even though the place wasn't packed. I'd give it another try and order something different next time. THE ONLY PICTURE I TOOK WE WERE BUSY CHATTING!

Ignored for a long time before, during and after eating. Not because they were busy, for some reason they just didn't want to serve us. Granted we were a large party of 6, but that's 2 more than other family tables. Apart from the long wait, the server got our order wrong and then she disappeared altogether. Had to flag down a totally different person to close out our meal, which for some reason took a long time to do. All that would've been forgiven had the food been any good. It wasn't. Also, their bathroom had watered down hand soap. Their employees are serving food with barely clean hands. Yeah. Stay away.

I rarely write reviews, but this experience was unacceptable from start to finish. First, the wait was extremely long, and once we were finally seated, there was no English spoken, which made even basic communication a struggle. I was still waiting for chopsticks and a plate while dishes were already being brought to the table. The miso soup tasted like it came straight from a microwave, not freshly prepared. They also charged my 1-year-old for a full meal, which is ridiculous. What made it worse is that they lied to us, saying they weren't going to charge for the meal. But when we were walking out, they stopped us and insisted we had to pay because "we ate it," even though they previously said it was free. Completely unprofessional. "Steve" who I though was a manger eventually came to ask if everything was okay, but by then it was too late to fix anything. Their excuse was that they "only work there," so they weren't responsible. They even said they would call the cops simply because we weren't happy with the service or the food and forced us to pay which is what we were intending to do but we were lie at the table so that we ate the food and then call the cops. We wasted two hours driving to this place because Google showed a 4.6 rating, but Yelp's 3-star rating was the accurate one. Honestly, this restaurant deserves 1 star at best. Terrible service, dishonest behavior, and zero accountability. I will never return and definitely do not recommend this place to anyone.

I'm baffled by the low rating. I popped by for lunch, got the lunch special - three rolls for $14.95, including a small salad and miso soup. I have nothing bad to say. The sushi was fresh, the price was great, service was good. I'll definitely return!

For the price, you can't beat this all you can eat sushi restaurant. There is street parking right out front. The service is great. And the best part.... The food is actually really good. It's also BYOB so feel free to bring any alcohol beverages that you would like to consume. I've referred this spot to a few friends and they throughly enjoyed their dining experience. Thank me later.

Visited Osaka Sushi for dinner on a Friday. It's a pretty large sushi restaurant with lots of anime posters on the walls. The menu is essentially the same as all the other all you can eat sushi restaurants in Bergen County, with sashimi, sushi, and kitchen items. They give you paper menus, where you check off the items you want and they bring them to your table. Standout items for me were the yellowtail jalapeno and pepper salmon sashimi, as well as the filet mignon special roll. Service was a bit clumsy. I was very concerned as the staff reached over my infant daughter's high chair delivering hot bowls of soup or plates of fried kitchen items. Sushi and sashimi quality were average. Not my first choice for all you can eat sushi.

We were seated and then completely ignored for about 15 minutes -- no menus, no drinks, no server checking in. Other tables were attended to, so we weren't sure if we were forgotten or if they were just short-staffed. I tried to get someone's attention and even stood up in the middle of the restaurant, but no one noticed. We eventually gave up and left. The person at the entrance apologized and asked us to return, but at that point we weren't interested anymore. Pretty disappointing experience overall.

DO NOT EAT HERE OR ORDER FROM HERE! This has to be the absolute worst meal I've had in NJ in a decade. We ordered delivery and the fish legitimately came rancid (driver only had to drive 7 min). The salmon tartare was actually grey and had a horrible odor... immediately threw it out. The udon noodles were gummy, the chicken was bone dry and they thought putting tons of sauce would fix it ... it obviously didn't. Also can restaurants stop stealing other restaurants photos to use on ordering apps. I mean the level of deceipt in the photos they have on uber eats is honestly disgusting and false advertising. If you love all you can eat sushi, this is a cool place to check out! They have a huuuuuge menu with a ton of different things you can order (and as much as you want). They have a lot dishes that arent sushi too. The quality of ayce sushi is not expected to be top tier, so dont expect it. The sushi here is pretty tasty. Osaka sushi is a good choice amongst the all the ayce options out there.

This is take out place but food is excellent we always order bento box and some time to add mix sushi's platters. It's big portions lots of time it's left over which we enjoy next day only one concern people who take order or collect money I found her rude thats why 4 star people who are your customer regarding there race please be nice . The also spending nice amount of money so it's my request who ever is owner specially the lady who collect money fix your attitude. Thanks

We did all you can eat sushi and their sushi was fresh and good. Only thing that wished they had was parking lot because it only has street parking. It has sitting area and cute interior. Service was great! Also got vanilla ice cream and fried Oreos as desserts. So good! :)

Did AYCE sushi. I've been here multiple times already. The sushi is great, but based on our experience this time, it wasn't worth the price. I try not to overorder, so I usually just place small orders at a time. We waited over 30 minutes for 10 pieces of salmon sushi, 10 pieces of mackerel, and one piece of tamago--which never even came out. We tried to start a second round of AYCE, but it took almost 15-20 minutes just to get the order sheet. We even asked twice and still didn't receive it until I had to complain. I had to speak to a manager about our experience. He was very attentive at the end, but after waiting so long for food, I had already lost my appetite.

I grew up in this town. Sushi, minus Foova (go back 15+ years), was truly the only place you could go if you wanted decent sushi. Last night, my family and I decided to try Osaka and had an incredible meal. We chose the "all you can eat" option and did not leave disappointed. My only suggestion would be to avoid anything with imitation crab in it, as you would likely do at any sushi restaurant if you know what you're doing, but here are highlights: -sashimi was great. We loved the tuna, squid, and eel -regular rolls were 5/5. Rice quality was great and nothing was overbearing -special rolls were good. Try the filet (steak) one Service couldn't have been better. The people who work & run this place are friendly, kind, and professional. In case you don't want "all you can eat", there are many other options. Their weekend and holiday specials also sounded great. BYOB, too! 5/5. If you're in the area and you're hungry, you should come here.

Did AYCE with my family and service was amazing! Sushi quality was really nice. We sat in the traditional Japanese seating which made the experience 10/10. Will come back soon :)

Wow, it was a very enjoyable meal. Friendly staff. Nice menu. We got there around 5:30, and the place was empty, but it began to fill up a bit as we ate. We had the all you can eat, and the menu did not disappoint. The kitchen selections were small portions, but you could have as much as you wanted, and you didn't have to worry about having to finish everything. The sushi rolls were good with some uniqueness to them. Not just the same rolls you see everywhere. Topped off the meal with deep fried oreos and chocolate ice cream. The decor was pleasant, and the sit-in tables with the built-in benches were a good touch. Highly recomend

Tried the "all you can eat". You need to order by piece, no buffet. You need to be little patient with the service, it is sparsely staffed. I thought the price was pretty reasonable. The gyoza was clearly taken straight out of freezer bag, but some of their "house specialties" were quite delicious. I would definitely go back. Super nice manager (owner?)

The Tenafly franchise had below quality food. The shrimp and beef were not edible. Additionally the edamame was old and overcooked. I ordered a dragon roll and there was no eel present. Please do not be fooled by the other reviews. The staff were inexperienced and did not care when we voiced our complaints. The sushi was horrible. The avocados were over ripe. This fast food chain is only there to take your money. Robert L.

Maybe i just caught them on a bad day. Got take away lunch sushi special. Sweet potato roll was good, salad/ginger dressing good (wish there was more!), soup was good. Fish in philly roll and tuna roll tasted extra "fishy" and texture was off to me so it was a turn off. Inside looked really nice and staff was friendly.

Four stars for friendly/attentive service and 3 1/2 stars for food. AYCE is fun and unlike buffet of this genre, all is fresh and made to order. Enjoyable and decent value.

Without exaggeration, the worst sushi experience I have ever had and will have as long as I make more sensible choices in the future. I saw decent reviews on Yelp and google, so thought I'd give take out a try. The fish was not fresh at all. The tuna looked like they dry aged it and forgot to cut out the dry aged portion, but instead served it. It was brown, had zero flavor, and the texture was horrid. The other fish were no better. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy, and felt a deep calling to voice my opinion to save some poor souls who may think dining here is a good idea. Please... please don't dine here; I'm begging

Terrible, Terrible experience tonight!! After waiting a long time in empty Resturant for my meal to arrive, it came out ice cold! I nicely said, my food is very cold, they took it back and brought back 10 min later, ice cold once again!:( when I said my food came to me cold for the second time, the owner said "it not cold , plate is hot" what??? Everyone at my table knew my food was ice cold. When I was leaving , the very , very rude and nasty owner said to me, "next time order something else!" What?????? I will never go beck to this place and I highly recommend a course in customer service for the staff! What a Horrible experience!!

Good food, service and ambiance. Michael is very welcoming. We had a delicious dinner experience.

Good AYCE sushi spot with a lot of roll, specialty roll, and sashimi options as well as hot food (which are Kindof small portions so may want to order a few at a time). The specialty and sushi rolls are pretty big and filled! There are a few floor/built in seats for a more Japanese-style dining experience as well as regular tables.

Amazing staff! Super friendly and nice! Great sushi, my cat loved it too! Unbeatable lunch special (3 rolls, soup, and salad)!

first of all do not come here second of all if u see micheal beat his ass cause he upcharged us cause we left 1 roll of sushi on the plate, food wasn't even that good, don't come here not worth the 28 dollars

We had a few eat all you can meals in the past in this place and we loved them but last night was almost like a nightmare. The sashimi were so thinly sliced, we were served a lot Jess than we ordered, and after waiting long for salmon sashimi...they never came (even after several follow ups). The shrimp tempura apparently ran out! The sushi rolls were clearly hurriedly made... rolled rice were falling apart. The kani serving portion was less than a third of what it was. I can probably go on and on with the terrible food. The customers around our table were having the same issues as we overheard their complaints. The servers are nice but they could not save the day for the terrible food experience. Sorry but we don't plan to go back.

The AYCE is a steal at $30!, with an ample selection of sushi and sashimi options AND hot kitchen items.

The best play in Bergen County. Best owner, tasty food especially ball sushi. Highly recommend.

I went to Osaka for dinner with my family for the first time tonight in high anticipation. We've been eyeing this restaurant since we heard it was opening soon. We were well-received by the host and the staff were so pleasant. Whatever warm feelings I had at the beginning of the meal disappeared as we sat waiting a ridiculous amount of time for our food. We saw at least 8 parties seated after us and several of them got their orders in and food at their tables before we called staff over to check on our food status. We received wrong orders (i.e. gyoza and raw salmon were served when we never ordered those items), numerous missing orders (i.e. Kani salad, fried rice, edamame, etc.), and the food was disappointing. The rice was falling apart when we tried to pick up the rolls. There was also an inordinate amount of rice to fish ratio. The galbi was chewy and just bone. We had to leave a piece untouched as it was raw. The underwhelming teriayaki udon is literally just cooked udon with 2 squirts of teriyaki sauce. Another food disappointment that stood out was a specialty roll with cold, and clearly not heated up, shrimp tempura inside. We ended leaving extremely let down. We can tell the staff and kitchen were overwhelmed, and I am hopeful that this is a one-time experience as this restaurant is new and still getting its sea-legs. There is great potential and I hope the restaurant takes this review as constructive criticism, and not in any other way.

The sushi is fresh and delicious. Michael makes everyone feel welcome and we are so happy he decided to open his restaurant in Tenafly. Overall, delicious food, very reasonably priced, and great service!

I recently moved to Tenafly from Fort Lee and was looking for a new sushi spot around area. I found Osaka Sushi and decided to bring my family to give it a try. We went on a Saturday evening, around 530pm when there was little activity and ordered the AYCE menu. I am afraid to say Osaka Sushi did not meet my expectations for many reasons: (1) even though we came in at a time with low traffic and ordered both kitchen and sushi options, we got served after the tables that came later than ours. By the time the tables were all filled at 6pm, we were still waiting for our order to come (2) the quality of the sushi is poor; we ordered a few specialty rolls that took a long time to arrive. One that had shrimp tempura inside came with the shrimp cold, and when chewed was soggy and stale, as if they forgot to fry it and just had it microwaved. In addition, we ordered nigiri a second time during the sitting and they stuffed it with rice in an attempt to compensate for orders that were never received at the table (3) there seemed to be a mix with our order as we received items we didn't order, and simple items that we ordered that should be easy to serve and are staple such as Kani salad and Edemame never made their way to our table. Towards the end we asked the server to cancel the rest of our orders because they were taking too long, and the food was not enjoyable. The only good things about this place was the ambiance and decoration. The servers and waiters are kind and try their best at providing good service, but this does not make up by the poor food quality and timeliness. I understand this restaurant is new and may still be figuring out how to serve their clients and meet demand during peak hours, but unfortunately I cannot recommend this place if you are a sushi enthusiast. We left dissatisfied and with a feeling that we did not get any of our money's worth.

Quality of sashimi is excellet, which give a good indication of the overall food quality served in the restaruant. Very pleased. Will be back often. Michael is a wonderful host and owner.
