"This Cheers-style bar has been a neighborhood go-to since 1983. Besides sports and darts, Oscar’s dishes a great half-pound burger for under $10 — unheard of. The steak special is $16.75 Tuesday and Wednesday, or plan for spaghetti and meatballs for $12.50 on Thursday. The Marilyn pin-up theme is fun." - Beth D'Addono

Gonna try a burger next time seeing all these pictures. But tonight it was just a baked potato and salad. Service was good and friendly. Nice option for some late night eats.

Went to Oscar's this last Thursday, May 23rd. Arrived around 9 PM. Place was packed. Problem was that there was only one bartender/waitress for the entire place. Took us 45 minutes to get our food. Why on a busy night would you have only one employee? Does the place have no manager? How about the owners? Couldn't they have helped? Not sure if I will ever return.

Glad they got rid of the smoking in the bar!!! Much better without it! Food and drinks are great. Just need friends and you are set for the evening!

Google
Great neighborhood atmosphere! Friendly, talented bartenders with great selections of mixed drinks, tap and bottled beer. Terrific hamburgers and "out of this world" good stuffed, baked potatoes. Late night service.

We popped in here looking for a burger and a drink. The bartender was super nice and our food and drinks were good.

Oscar's is a Marilyn Monroe loving establishment. Ton of fun. The pool table is in wonderful condition. We couldn't find the talcum powder but that didn't slow us down. We played 3 games and had some very cold beer.

Google
Great burger, great staff, neighborhood bar atmosphere.

Oscar's is an adult establishment age 21 & older. It has been there for a long time and offers food, drinks, pool tables, darts, video poker, ect. Food is good! Service is good. Drinks are good. It was never my "main spot", but it was on the list, as I've been going there for years!!! 👍

Yelp
Best burger in the Metairie/New Orleans area by far. Huge size and cooked to order. Adding mushrooms is a game changer. Bar is super spacious and open. Parking can be a pain because of Metairie Rd. My go to when i want a burger. Server was very nice and attentive.

Yelp
Let me be clear - this is a review of the best burger in town. Oscar's is a great bar, but this is not a bar review. It's a burger review. But the burger is so good that if it means I give the "whole place" 5 stars, so be it. When I go somewhere to get a high quality burger - a "Port of Call" burger - I have a pretty clear idea of what I want that burger to be: High quality/fresh beef. Cooked exactly as ordered. And when a high quality burger is cooked rare or medium rare, the center is juicy and has just the right color and texture. And, hopefully, the outside has a nice, flame grilled flavor and texture. Flame cooked, but nearly rare, is what I want. In the past 2 or 3 months, I've gone to Oscar's 3 times for their burger. And every single time, every single bite, gives me exactly what I dream of when I dream of a great burger. I'm not arguing for medium rare, but I will suggest that MR is a tricky spot. One local "gourmet" burger place gives me rare every time. Most places give me medium (I've come to expect medium). Oscar's is 3 for 3 in giving me exactly what I think MR is. Oh, and their potatoes have been perfectly baked the two times I've had them. They've been exactly fresh. So you want the classic 8 oz burger and loaded potato meal that 2 or 3 places in NOLA are known for? Go to Oscar's. My personal quest for the Best Burger in Town is over. I've found it. Oh....and I wondered if I could write this review without mentioning all of the Marilyn Monroe photos on the walls. Apparently not. :-)

Yelp
45 minutes for my order which came out wrong. No cheese on the sandwich, which I asked for, and chips instead of the loaded baked potato which I also asked (and paid) for. Can't blame the LONE guy working in front and behind the bar. He worked his butt off trying to serve everyone. He was the highlight of my dinner.

Susan E.

Yelp
I used to live nearby and get the burger with baked potato. That was ok but don't ever try a po boy, roast beef to be specific. You get a 6 inch & a few potato chips.I believed the online menu.It was wrong,Said $9.75 cost was $14.95.Never again!

Yelp
We came here for the first time on a Tuesday which happens to be their steak night. They serve a sizzling filet mignon with a fully loaded baked potato for $21. You walk in, it's dark of course, it is a bar. There is a video poker and atm straight back. Tje bar stools at the bar are social distances and some roped off to specifically social distance. The inside is much larger than I thought from the outside. The waitress greeted us and said we could sit where we like. The table was just freshly sanitized so we sat there. We ordered the steaks and the hubby ordered his potato with butter and cheese. Pricing starts at 17 and the more toppings you want on your potato or steak will go up. The steak arrived sizzling so it was a nice presentation. The plate was super hot so you have to.be careful. The potato was still wrapped on the aluminum foil to remain hot and soft. I ordered the steak medium and it was juicy. The flavors were very good, although the meat was a tad tough. I at le everything and thought the waitress was super nice. They also have happy hour for beer and cocktails from 2-6 I believe.

Yelp
I ordered a quick lunch over the phone & was told it will be 15min when it actually took 30min. The lady who took my order was so sweet! But the food was TERRIBLE! I ordered the sliders that looked old & they gave me my spinach dip in a styrofoam cup. The sweet potato was the only thing I purchased that I thought I'd actually be satisfied with but that was a disappointment as well. The website is deceiving. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Mj J.

Yelp
Only gave one star because I had to put something . We were there for about four hours and watched the bartenders take more shots than drinks that the bartenders actually served. If I would of had control over where we went it definitely would not ever be this bar I got one drink along with my friends who only got one drink as well But not for the lack of trying the bartenders are horrific. They just passed you by the entire time to go take another shot but never giving you your drink a friend of mine after closing her tab because she could never get a drink after the first had to go find her card herself behind the bar because we got tired of waiting after 30 minutes to after we signed the receipt to get the card back. A waste a complete waste of time and energy at this place. Go somewhere else trust me anywhere else if you're actually thirsty

Luke C.

Yelp
I would have given 5 stars but they have a cookie curtain and no cookies. The burgers are top tier however.

BG A.

Yelp
Bar with really good 1/2 pound burgers and loaded baked potatoes. https://blainerestaurantreport.wordpress.com/2022/01/08/oscars-metairie-la-report-445/

Yelp
Gotta love Oscar's for their burger and baked potato combo. They also have great spinach and artichoke and chili dip. The bartenders are super nice. They have your typical selection of beer, but I like to get the splits of champagne when I go. It's probably only days before I head back.

Janine M.

Yelp
Burger was great. Baked Potato was also great. Not much else to it. Place needs to be updated. Smoke filled room but since I'm not planning to go everyday, I can deal with it. If pool is your thing, there are some tables for you. Lots of room at the bar and even some tables if you don't want to be friendly. Service was good. Parking out front or in the lot across the street. Overall, this is a nice little hideaway spot if you just want good food and to get away for a bit.

Lauren M.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went in for steak night on Tuesday were pretty disappointed in the food and the service. The blonde bartender was pretty rude didn't tell us anything about the abita specials left our drinks unfilled but her regulars were surely taken care of (the bar was bascially empty) and she was surprisingly laughing and entertaining them (didn't know it was in her personality to interact like that)....We ordered the steak medium rare came out medium well and the baked potato had very little sour cream. Of course the bartender was nowhere to be found I had to get up and walk over to the other side to ask for more sour cream. Nonetheless I used to go in here all the time back in the day the food and service was much better then. Very unfortunate that they hire rude bartenders and the food isn't up to par. Won't be returning.

Yelp
From, Joe & Sybil Gordon: We live in Gretna, La.!! My awesome son & beautiful Girlfriend had recommended that we take my Wife to "OSCAR's" on Metairie Road (for Mother's Day), claiming that ... THEY have the ... BEST HAMBURGERS in town!!! ... We went into this little "hole- in - the- wall" Restaurant and I was totally blown away by the decor of MARILYN MONROE photos that were on the walls!!! The young (pregnant) lady greeted us with a smile, gave us a menu & took our drink orders!!! .... To make a long story short, this was the ... HANDS DOWN, BEST HAMBURGER(s) that I/WE have have EVER eaten!! ... They put 5 GUYS to ... SHAME!!! ... We are going there next Saturday (May, 22nd)!!!

Yelp
Oscar's is located on Old Metaire and is a community bar. It has a full menu and without question has the best baked potato (it's massive) in the city. I am also fond of the burger, which is also ridiculous in size. It's not trendy or a place to make a fashion statement, but prices are reasonable and its food is good.

Angela S.

Yelp
I love this bar for their burgers. Juicy and flavorful. I only gave 4 stars because you are still allowed to smoke in here which is meh.

Sayseye N.

Yelp
I hadn't been here in years because the cigarette smoke is so overpowering. Finally, my cravings Ngi for one of the best burgers in the city was overpowering so I phoned in a takeout order, donned an oxygen mask, and sprinted in and out with my burger. It was worth the effort. Never fails. If the place went non-smoking I would go there often.

Jennifer G.

Yelp
It has been 20 years since I I have been at this Place but I can tell you when I went they has the best burgers there ever. This place makes me love New Orleans even more

Allan M.

Yelp
Its been surprisingly dead the few times I've good. Good vibes; Ally the bartender is really sweet.

Steve I.

Yelp
This is my little-known burger spot. Not one of the first places that comes to mind when seeking out burgers but that doesn't mean they don't make a bangin' burger. The burgers here are fantastic! Well-seasoned patties that are moist and delicious. The bartenders are friendly and the kitchen is open till 1am on weekends usually. A great place for a burger if in the area.

Priscilla J.

Yelp
I loved going to Oscar's and never had a problem in the past however after my last visit on 9/10/2020 I will never go back. I reviewed the on line menu that was located on Oscar's website. I called in place my order and everything was ok untill I went to pick up my order. I ordered a Cheeseburger with the baked potato with just butter (online price $9.25) and a separate baked potato adding only bacon bits (online price $3.75+$1.00 for the bacon). I get to he bar to pick up my order and was given a total of $19. When I asked why it was so high the serve broke down the total $13 for a burger and $6 for the potato. I explained and showed him the online prices and was told I dont know we we must have went up on the prices. I advised that they really need to update the website because this is misleading. Not once did the server offer to see if he could fix the issue and till today the website prices are still not updated. I will not be ordering from here again. $19 for a Cheeseburger and two baked potatoes not loaded is way to high.

Tiff D.

Yelp
Oscar's has a decent burger. The flavor is all Worchestershire, but it is more flavorful than other burgers I've had. Its not huge which I appreciate - gives me a chance at eating the whole thing. It comes with shitty ruffle chips, if you want something else there is an up charge. Prices are high. $1.75 for mushrooms on my burger is outrageous. There's nothing special about these shrooms. $1.00 for BBQ sauce... The service was lackluster. The bartender had one foot into retirement and couldnt be bothered with bar converstation. I wouldn't go out of your way to go here, but if you're in the area, its an option.

Jerry G.

Yelp
Great burgers the trick is to go in between lunch and dinner the slow period less smoke but the food is great and well priced.Pool tables are also empty during these times great location and ample parking. No customers under 21 are allowed no kids period!

Anna Laura M.

Yelp
This is my go to place in Metairie, LA. The food and drinks are Yummy Yummy. Ask for the "Anna & Al Special" "Woodford Reserve & Glenlivet".

C D.

Yelp
I went to Oscars for a burger with my 19 year old son. They wouldn't serve us because he was under 21. Maybe he should've ordered a beer? They're faux restaurant so that they can smoke in their bar just bit them in their butt. Serving alcohol to minors = temp loss of alcohol license. Karma?

Jenny N.

Yelp
When my boyfriend and I walked up to the storefront, we spotted a menu taped on the window, we proceed to walk into the bar to go eat something . The bar had very minimal customers at the time (it was so uncomfortable because we were just stared at the moment we walked in), and I go up to the bar tender and asked her "Where do we order?" Her reponse, "Right here" ..I then stood there to see if she would give any direction. She didn't offer us any menus, not a friendly welcome to start with, and most importantly she stood there slowly taking her time to pour drinks for everyone else. I gave up and just sat down. We just sat there, again with no greeting, menus, or anything. In that moment it felt like we were just nothing there. I was so hungry and exhausted. I have no idea why my boyfriend and I didn't receive a kind welcome walking through. I simply walked out. If you don't want to feel like you've been discriminated in any way. I wouldn't walk into a place like this. We were simply a hungry couple trying to grab a quick bite in a nice community.

Rick M.

Yelp
Burgers are always amazing. Sliders are great too. Staff are nice even when it's busy. Place could get smokey though.

Matt R.

Yelp
Oscar's is a great neighborhood bar located in historic Old Metairie. It's a local crowd, with the exception of Marilyn Monroe. There are about 200 pictures of the star posted throughout the bar, clearly defining a theme for the old joint. In addition to your usual bar maids and cocktails, Oscar's has some pretty good food. In fact, they have a real hidden secret here in New Orleans... they make a burger and baked potato that is on par with what you would get at world famous Port-of-Call. In fact... sometimes, I have to say that I like Oscar's version better. The burger is giant and juicy and you even get the POC famous sautéed mushrooms on the potato. It's so good... Also worth mentioning is Oscar's weekly steak night. In the $10-15 range, you can dine on a delicious sirloin, baked potato and some good brews. Worth it. BOTTOM LINE: Come to Oscar's for the Port-of-Call esque burgers and loaded potatoes. No long wait, half the price, and just as good or better.

Georgette L.

Yelp
I love the burgers here. It's a big, thick burger, cooked how you like it. I got mine medium. It was done perfectly. The flavor of the burger is so good. It has a slight onion flavor, it's not overpowering, it's just yummy. The only thing I got on my burger was the grated cheddar cheese. To me, it doesn't need anything else. The baked potato that it comes with is delicious. Fully loaded, just hot, awesome, buttery, cheesy, bacony, sour creamy goodness!! Oscar's is a full bar that serves food. I think it's one of the best burgers in NOLA.

Patrick H.

Yelp
Really good spot in Old Metry. Nice ambiance, nice selection of beers, and staff is always on point. Pool tables or darts. Killer cheeseburgers served with baked potato!

Rebekah B.

Yelp
Oscar's has a very focused decorating plan, but the Marilyns are smiling for a reason. Each bartender is helpful and friendly, and knows your name and drink after 2 visits. Speaking of the visits, they are a great place for game day, or pub fare dinner. You have not tasted a better cheeseburger in your life. This is not an exaggeration. There is physical evidence of people in hospital gowns eating these cheeseburgers. If not in the mood for an entire cheeseburger, the sliders in both varieties appease the appetite. Drinks are prepared beautifully and swiftly, and the neighborhood is wonderful. For either a drink after work or a dinner with a group of friends, Oscars is a wonderful neighborhood bar.

Melanie P.

Yelp
Super friendly staff, good food, and good drinks in this old dive that has been here for decades. Skip the tourist traps and visit Oscars instead. You won't be sorry.

Bonnie P.

Yelp
The worst! Waitress/owner finally comes to take our order. 10 minutes later she's eating behind the bar & talking with customers. Had to get up & ask for our drinks & she tells us she's too busy. Walked out & will never return. What a joke!

Oliver G.

Yelp
I am repeat customer and just had the most ridiculous and disappointing experience ever. Group of six people walk in and the witch behind the bar started demanding us to come up one by one to show iD. Not only are we all clearly of age but to be demanded to come up to the bar is odd. Normally the waitress comes out to the table and politely takes your order. Then your ID is checked. The witch continued to bark that if we wanted to order we'd have to come up to the bar. Again, not a real issue if it had been politely communicated like any customer would expect. I will return and hope to see it back to normal.

Adam R.

Yelp
Nice neighborhood bar. I frequent it often and enjoy the drinks and bartenders. Someone has a marilyn monroe fetish for sure, But overall pretty cool place.

Chris N.

Yelp
I've been coming to Oscar's for over 35 years (before it was even legal for me to do so!). While I not a fan of cigarette smoke... I love their burgers. Drinks are reasonably priced. And, service has always been good. I can't imagine a Metairie Rd without Oscar's. Again, I love this place.

Rob P.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and wonderful service. Our bartenders name is Karen and she is expert at her craft and has an amazing personality. Can't say enough about how much a great bar tender sets the atmosphere. Great drinks, music and food.

Roni D.

Yelp
went tonight for the 2nd time in 2 weeks for a burger togo. no doubt, its the best burger ive ever had, but the bartenders are even better. they are so sweet and accommodating and really made me feel welcome, unlike some other late nite burger bars in metairie. even if you dont want to eat, you should go to oscars just for a drink and the excellent service with a smile.

Kay M.

Yelp
A definite gem in the heart of Old Metairie :) The bartenders here are very nice and they have one of the best burgers around! They offer a juicy burger that you can get with an enormous baked potato. They also have steak night and I am told that is pretty yummy as well! It isn't usually super-crowded (especially on week nights)-- mostly a 30s and up crowd-- so it's a good place to come and hang out and talk with a friend without having to deal with too much noise. They have dartboards and pool tables and a couple of tvs. I have thrown a couple birthday parties there and they have always been accommodating.

Andrew D.

Yelp
I come to NOLA/Old Metairie a couple times of year, and I always end up in this place at least once on my trip. They have decent beer prices and selections, a unique setup with one half of the building lit well while the other side is darker, and best of all they have a great burger and baked potato! ***** Also, the place if full of Marilyn Monroe pictures and posters. Can't beat that!

Liesl Z.

Yelp
Best burgers in Old Metairie! Oscars is definitely dive bar but it what I like about it. It's a great neighborhood bar.

Brooke A.

Yelp
I absolutely love Oscars!! Hands down the BEST burger in the New Orleans Metairie area. The burgers here are so juicy and huge. It normally comes with loaded baked potato runs you about 15 dollars but worth it. The drinks are also great here!! You know you are drinking an alcoholic beverage and always get more than a pour. The liquor selection is tremendous!! Not much they don't have here. Oscars is a great place to watch a game, play a game of pool or darts, or just a place to relax. You'll notice pictures of Marilyn Monroe everywhere in this place. Only complaint is that it can get pretty smoky. But other than than, greatly recommended!! (And FYI- in my opinion much better than port-of-call!!)

Diane Z.

Yelp
It was great until I had to go to the bathroom and they refused to put toilet paper in the womens bathroom and when asked wouldn't give me anything....unbelievable...Very unsanitary!!!!! Never come here again..

Susan C.

Yelp
In regard to the hamburger, best I have ever had. Juicy, seasoned and it's overall tasty. It's not a fancy place, it is a bar with a 1980's feel, but I will be back for the burger. Only thing that is a little annoying are the smokers. There is a bar I. The middle of the room and they can smoke at the bar. Try to get a table on the outskirts if this bothers you. Don't come here if you want fine dining. Come here to grab a burger or another meal and go on your way. Service was great.

Shannon S.

Yelp
I have several friends that live near Oscar's in old Metairie so I end up here more often than I would otherwise. The bar is the center of the space with seating on either side of it. They usually have female bartenders working that give decent to great service. There is usually a mix of all ages earlier in the evening but the later it gets the fewer people remain so this is definitely a place to visit earlier and not later. My main complaint about Oscar's is that they tend to close early by New Orleans standards so I've had many occasions where we've just arrived and they shut the place down 5 minutes later so we have to relocate elsewhere (usually Winston's). Oscar's does make a solid juicy burger (except for the Metairie St. Pat's parade when it is crap) and they have several other good looking things on the menu but over the years I've only eaten the burger so far. The burger is comparable to Port of Calls (but maybe even a bit better with a lower price). Oscars is a decent place to eat and hang out but if I didn't know people in the area I wouldn't have much motivation to visit very often.

Jeremy B.

Yelp
Been coming hear for almost 8 years now. They have awesome food ,hamburgers , any of there fish ext. Is out of this world! Lindsey , Karen and ms. D are some of the nicest bartenders in the city with awesome service ! Just an all around great place to drink, eat and party!

Emily C.

Yelp
I've lived in Old Metairie for 3 years within walking distance of Oscar's. During that time I have frequently come here and have always enjoyed the atmosphere and food. However, tonight the service was so poor/subpar from what I usually experience that our whole group had to leave without even ordering a drink. We most likely won't be coming back. I'm sorry to say I may have to abandon one of my favorite neighborhood bars due to the lack of hospitality/service experienced tonight.

David T.

Yelp
Awesome Burger, but it needs a bit of an update. Maybe a little facelift would bring in more business in the upscale metairie area. It is never crowded, it lacks tv's for sports and it is very dark. It is okay to go and grab a quick drink or get a burger to go, or hit it after you are already 3 sheets and close to home, but not a regular hang out.

Angel M.

Yelp
As a newcomer to New Orleans (I'm from a small town in Illinois), I was looking for a local bar that wasn't a dive & where the patrons weren't, you know, scary. I found Oscar's around Thanksgiving of '09, didn't go in since I was heading to dinner at the time. So glad I decided to pop in once I finally settled here. The drinks are great. They don't skimp on the booze & beverages are reasonably priced. I haven't eaten here yet, but I have to say the best part of Oscar's is the service. Everytime I've gone in the bartenders introduce themselves and take the time to chat a little, even when they're clearly busy. The staff makes me feel as if I've been coming here for years. The decor is all Marilyn, which I love. It gives the bar a classic feel, even if it is a little kitschy. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I haven't sampled the menu. Yet.

Gene S.

Yelp
I used to be a regular @ this place. Great burgers....the spinich dip smells like old gym socks though....couldn't eat it. Another great place not far from here is electric cocktail. The crowds can be pleasantly surprising on Friday and Saturday nights..

susan e.

Yelp
neighborhood bar, lots of regulars.decent food but not the greatest,I was told the burgers were the best in town, not! just okay
