8 Essential Restaurants in Summerville

"Oscar’s is an upscale casual dining establishment that’s been hiding in plain sight for over 35 years. Whether celebrating a birthday or some other special occasion, Oscar’s gives an intimate feeling not found anywhere else in Summerville. The menu consist of traditional Southern staples like shrimp and grits and fried green tomatoes, but there’s also unique takes on Southern standbys like smoked gouda grit cakes and cold Charleston crab dip." - KJ Kearney

The only thing we’re disappointed with is that it took until our 14th anniversary to make this grand discovery. We booked reservations last minute to celebrate, and it was the best decision we could have made. First they brought out the best bread either of us have ever had with our wine. Then we had oysters on the half shell and mozzarella half moons for appetizers. They were both wonderful and the cheese pull was amazing. For our main entree, my husband had the prime rib with mashed sweet potatoes and spinach. He is still going on about the spinach being amazing and the prime rib cut like butter. I had the chicken carbonara and it was literally the best pasta I’ve ever tasted. We’re both already itching to go back for more. For desert I had the caramel xango and he had the banana’s Oscar. Both were absolutely amazing. Our waitress Tiffany was the cherry on top of our experience. She was so helpful when we had questions about the wine and good before ordering and never let our glasses get empty. Overall this was an amazing experience ❤️

Sat down for a great lunch today. Had a cup of the she crab soup as an appetizer. Then the catch of the day for the entree. Great sea bass plate. Looking forward to coming back in the near future.

Google
The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, perfect for a relaxed dinner. Even without a reservation, we only waited about 25 minutes for a table for two, which was not bad at all. Our waitress was very helpful in walking us through the menu since it was our first visit. She was truly a delight. The food was absolutely amazing, full of flavor and comfort. We will definitely be coming back.

Had a fabulous Father’s Day dinner with my daughter, granddaughter, and son-in-law from service to food it was great! One thing I want to emphasize is Oscar’s customer service and their district manager, April, will get it right. I rarely eat beef and the braised beef was calling my name. The best beef dish ever! Fall apart tender and the combo with mushrooms, mashed potatoes, greens, and crispy onions was mouth watering. My daughter had the prime rib which she devoured and her and the baby loved the mac and cheese too! She crab soup excellent. Grouper bites were delicious. And to top it off, Tre (not sure how he spells his name) gave us excellent service! We will be back!

Google
Wow! Visiting the area and came across this place. From the ambience, to the service, the the food, all excellent. So glad we found this place. Can't recommend it more! Tanya, our server, was great. Nice talking with her and her recommendations were spot on.

Elegant fine dining experience. Delicious steaks and seafood dishes. Braised short rib was exquisite. Reservation recommended for the weekend. Staff are personable and attentive. Definitely will go back.

If you’re looking for a spot in Summerville that feels like a little bit of Charleston-style fine dining without leaving town, Oscar’s absolutely delivers. The she-crab soup alone is worth the trip—it’s rich, velvety, and loaded with flavor. Easily one of the best bowls I’ve had in the Lowcountry, and it sets the tone for the meal perfectly. When it comes to the main course, the prime rib is a standout. Tender, juicy, and seasoned just right—it’s the kind of dish that makes you rethink ever ordering steak anywhere else. Pair it with a side and you’re set for a meal that leaves you satisfied without needing to dress it up with a bunch of extras. And then, just when you think you couldn’t possibly eat another bite, dessert shows up. Our absolute favorite is the Xango—a fried cheesecake wrapped in a tortilla, sprinkled with cinnamon sugar, and drizzled with chocolate. It’s decadent but somehow still feels light enough to finish every last bite (and trust me, you will). Oscar’s manages to balance cozy, hometown charm with big-city quality, and that’s what makes it a go-to for us. Whether you’re celebrating something special or just want a meal that hits all the right notes, this place is always a win.

Google
This was our second visit. The first one was brunch buffet and was non remarkable , but this time they redeemed themselves. Our first visit was for a Mother’s Day brunch, this time we went for dinner. The meals were great. We got the short rib and a NY strip steak, both were cooked perfectly! The Gouda mac and cheese was fantastic, Caesar salad was flavorful and the bread on the tables was soft and delicious. I also got the risotto, which was alright, and the broccoli was unseasoned- but overall, the star of the show was the short rib, which was worth the visit on it own. Oscar’s proved that they’re a local staple, as long as you’re there for what they do every day, great menu items served by friendly staff!

Yelp
We have been several times now - sat in the bar, dining room and patio - and every time we have had good drinks, service and food. We had a reservation this weekend and Charles was our server. We didn't have a light on the table and he made sure to bring one over. He was very attentive and detail oriented. It was my mom's first time there and she enjoyed the prime rib very much! We all had different drinks and meals, and all came out great. I had the Jamaican grilled mahi and the salsa on top had a sweet heat, and was cooked perfect. My husband got a sour apple martini (not in the menu) and it was well made. It's definitely a tried-and-true spot for a great steak / seafood dinner.

Yelp
So it looks like the last time I was here it was 2 yrs ago for dinner according to my last review. Reading that review the food wasn't that great then... The place was pretty empty for being close to noon. Our waitress was attentive & nice. They played classical music in the room. Think Bridgerton. Today I went for brunch & I still wasn't impressed by my meal. My breakfast burrito lacked flavor. The mimosa flight was small oz wise and only had 3 flavors. The brunch menu is small and undesirable, however, the bread basket was good & the managed to get the chicken & waffles right. The waffles had a really good flavor profile. The saracha drizzle wasn't too spicy. It had a nice, light kick to it. If I go back I'd get that. Unfortunately I wasn't inspired by my surroundings to take photos.

Yelp
Yum, yum, yum! Make sure you sit in Trey's section! We endured the outdoor screened patio- not a hardship really, the fans and air units made this area very pleasant. I had the She-crab soup! I loved it! My husband felt it was a little sweet. Whatever, it was mine!!! Followed by a salmon salad. What a hit! We ended our meal with a Caramel Xango! These were fried cheesecake rolls topped with caramel sauce, with 2 scoops of cinnamon ice cream. And... my husband who thought my soup was too sweet devoured 80% of it. Thanks for sharing a few bites, honey ;) No pics. But assume the food looked as amazing at it sounds!

Yelp
Went here last night after driving past it for years. It is right next to Circle K. Ordered the fried calamari and stuffed grouper. The calamari appetizer was too much for one person so I had to put the grouper in a box. Nicole was our server and she kept my sweet tea refilled. Gorgeous restaurant. The manager Tina took photos of us too

Yelp
A wonderful experience. Great wait staff and excellent food. Clean and well appointed interior.

Yelp
Haven't been to this old classic in decades, but when I was growing up it was known as "the fancy restaurant". It was definitely showing its age on first approach but was pretty packed when we took MIL for a family "Fakesgiving" last Thursday. We had a reservation, but the parking situation was frustratingly insufficient. Hubby had to drop us ladies at the door and cruise around looking for parking. We joined the rest of the family and were seated in the addition to the left of check-in. It felt like a church rec room. It appeared to be a deck addition that was walled off to turn it into a room. It was very utilitarian and completely lacking in ambiance. My childhood impression of this as a "fancy" place was dispelled. Our waiter, Calvin, was charming and spectacular. He was attentive without hovering, appearing with perfect timing to top up tea or water. We ordered appetizers for the table and enjoyed our beverages. The fried calamari was good, lightly breaded and not rubbery. The grouper bites were delicate and flaky. The cold crab dip was meaty but underwhelming, with the crab flavor lost under the paprika. It would have been better warm. The legendary she-crab soup was nice and meaty, loaded with sherry and worth the fuss. My shrimp and grits were fair, with plenty of big beautiful shrimp. The grits were white and well-cooked, if a bit lacking in their own flavor. The shrimp and sauce were the stars. The mushrooms had no business being there and found themselves adorning hubby's steak, where they fit much better. The one that slipped by was an unwelcome and off-putting bite, not working with the shrimp. Everyone enjoyed their entrees including the baked scallops, the salmon, the fried combo, and the ribeye. We were too full for dessert, so I missed out on trying the Bananas Oscar. The service and food are excellent and good. The prices are fair for the quality of food, and you can't get a 6 dollar cup of better she-crab soup anywhere. If you want ambiance, make sure they are seating you in the dining room proper. I didn't get to see inside, but it can't be worse than the addition. Might try again with just the hubby, and save room for dessert!

John L.

Yelp
Be careful, if you use a credit card, the credit card company applies a $4.75 service charge on you bill. Oscars blames the credit card company but ITS ACTUALLY SO OSCARS DOESN'T HAVE TO PAY CREDIT CARD COMPANY A TRANSACTION FEE. Instead the customer is really paying it. You better have cash or ..

Yelp
Oscar's did not disappoint. Our food and service was great. We started with the bruschetta which was good but just need a little salt. We all enjoyed the she crab soup and definitely recommend getting the bowl! Four our main meal, my mom and cousin had the steak salad and they both enjoyed it and I ordered the fruita Del mar. I was expecting a very light garlic lemon sauce, but instead it was more like a Alfredo sauce. It was DELICIOUS, but very fully and heavy. My seafood tasted fresh and we would definitely be back. The ambiance was nice inside and it looks like it lives up outside at times.

Yelp
We stopped in mid-afternoon for a late lunch, and sat outside in Oscar's covered patio bar, a very pleasant choice. Our server was personable and attentive without being interruptive, adding to our relaxed experience. I ordered Seafood Provençal, my wife had the She Crab soup and a Salmon salad. My shrimp and scallops were perfectly cooked, as was the salmon. The Provençal sauce was fresh and full of flavor to complement the seafood. My wife is hooked on She Crab soup, and loved Oscar's version. Based on today, I'll keep Oscar's on my will-visit-again list.

Yelp
Overall the food and service is good. The server said that their shrimp and grits were voted the best in the area. I don't know about the best part, but it was decent. I would definitely go again, but not on a regular basis. It's a little dark and definitely an older crowd. Parking is also an issue so be prepared for a crowded parking lot.

Yelp
The food, the service and the ambiance. Oscar's is a very popular place. Locals love it there. The restaurant has been in Summerville for quite a few years. I would recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
This is a very middle of the road steakhouse, on par with an Outback or a Longhorns, and priced about the same as well. Started with oysters in the half shell which were rather flavorless but inoffensive, and crab. The crab was quite clearly pre-cooked and was cool when it came out, and was pre-cracked. That was a bit of a surprise to me, never in my life have I ordered crab at a restaurant and had it pre-cooked. I had the surf-n-turf special, the filet was cooked properly but it was pretty tough for a filet. The smoked gouda mac & cheese had that ultra smooth consistency that screams "factory food"'. Really, most of the meal really felt/tasted like Sysco or something along those lines, more than a real deal in-house-made meal. There were a bunch of minor little service issues, like no fresh pepper offered for my steak, even though the fresh pepper grinder was right next to my table, and a glass for my mocktail being left on the table almost the entire meal even after telling the server I was done with it and not getting a refill. I also need to call out - and this isn't directly Oscar's fault - but for a restaurant that bills itself as a very upscale restaurant, the clientele comes there dressed like they are going to Burger King. If you think this is an alternative to Hall's, Oak, Burwell's, etc., it is not. The good news is, the price is not unreasonable for what it is, an alternative to Longhorns or Outback. J.Ja

Yelp
Amazing food and the ser v ice was excellent. We had a vegan Eater and the staff ensured that there were amble choices for them.
google avatar

Molly G.

Yelp
Got an Oscar style filet. Filet had zero flavor. Crab was pathetic looking. No hollandaise. Husband got prime rib, which looked AMAZING, but was really tough. Did not taste good. Mashed potatoes were terrible. Zero garlic. A vampire could eat them, no problem. Everything seemed very rushed. Tiffany made zero eye contact. Seemed very passive aggressive. But service was quick for the most part.
google avatar

Bionca W.

Yelp
First time trying Oscars and literally got one of everything basically. Some are not included I got the jumbo scallops and alligator bites appetizer to-go both were good. This is a casual dining restaurant with the option for outside seating with and the service was nice and attentive. But the food was good I got the crab cake entree with the creamy garlic risotto and the cheesy Gouda macaroni. Definitely place to try

Yelp
One of our favorite restaurants in the greater Charleston area! -- Our latest visit to Oscar's was during the holidays, and we enjoyed the most delicious seafood pasta with white cream sauce I've ever had. And, of course, we couldn't leave without ordering the Banana Xango topped with caramel drizzle. I'm not usually a fan of bananas in desserts, but Oscar's Banana Xango is definitely an exception!

Alexis W.

Yelp
French onion soup, filet and a shrimp and grits?* dinner for us tonight. I am shocked to say everything was excellent. Food was excellent. Staff was kind and attentive. We sat in the outdoor patio area and it was lovely. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area and would visit again!

Yelp
Everything is wonderful there. Where do I begin? My current favorite is the beef short ribs. So flavorful. And of course our server was fantastic. He's been there forever and always does such a great job. And to finish it off. The crème brûlée! It's the best ever!!
google avatar

Jondalyn W.

Yelp
Great service and food. Enjoyed the shrimp and grits. The ambience is always relaxing and welcoming

Gloria

Yelp
This is one of our "Go To" favorite restaurants. 9 times out of 10 they do not disappoint. The fried grouper bites are my absolute favorite! However, this weekend they had the whole flounder and again it did not disappoint! The seasoning was good and the fish was fried to perfection! Of course, I had to have my favorite desert, the Caramel Xango. This is a must each visit, no exceptions. Also, the service is always impeccable, thanks to Kelvin. He is very professional, attentive and serious about his craft. He makes certain all of his guests are cared for above and beyond.

Yelp
We visitors on Friday, October 25th. The ambience is nice and comfortable with vintage decor. The service was on point with our server and trainee providing professionals and friendly with attention to detail service. The food was good, flavorful & cooked to order. Parking is a bit cramped but it works. The place is busy and prices were fair. We would visit again.

Yelp
My wife and are new to SC and have been enjoying our dinning experience at many of the local eateries, inclusive of the Ice House, La Rustica, Laura, Page's Ocra Grill, etc. All of our dining choices have been sourced via recommendations from the local residents of Summerville and Oscar's was at the top of the list of fine restaurants to try. So it was with great anticipation that we decided to try Oscars late this afternoon. We were celebrating paying off our new SC home and were looking to party like retired rock stars (not), lol. Upon arriving, we were whisked to the bar side tables and were told to seat ourselves. Upon self-seating , we were given one menu and were promised another which took another 10 minutes. While waiting for the menu, we ordered our drinks, a glass of Moscato ($13) and a Miller Lite ($3). When the drinks (after a significant wait) were served, the pour of the Moscato was absolutely embarrassing. Literally it was about an eighth of a glass! When we advised the waitress of the paucity of the pour, she advised that only the bartender does the pouring of the wine and therefore there was nothing she could do about it. Oh well, the wine was finished in 2 sips, so $13 down the drain and buying a second eight of a glass for $13 was not an option. For an appetizer we decided to split the shrimp cocktail and it was a huge disappointment. The shrimp were tiny and unappealing, as was the little glass they were served in. Additionally, the presentation was unappetizing and had almost zero cocktail sauce. Instead, the shrimp were stuffed with a soggy salad into this tiny glass. #NotGood I guess they thought a tiny glass would make the shrimp look BIGGER, lol. For the entree, my wife order their seafood stuffed burrito and I ordered their Jamaican Jerk Maui. The Maui had to be immediately returned as it was a stale, over cooked, minuscule serving of fish. The Maui was less than a quarter inch thick and about 3 inches in length. A total disappointment. The Burrito was a larger portion, however, it was on the bland side of the ledger. As a replacement for my initial entree, I ordered the fried chicken breast with two sides. By the time the entree arrived, my wife had finished eating and our celebratory meal had been ruined. This was also a huge disappointment as the chicken breast were so tiny that it would be more suited to a children's meal. The sides of mashed potatoes and broccoli were pedestrian at best. As a result of the above, we asked to chat with the manager. Tony was a nice gentleman and he bought my wife another drink. Tony advised that he would address the issues we encountered with the staff to ensure that it doesn't happen again. So, we left very disillusioned with this establishment and hope that they fix these inadequacies.

Yelp
Came to celebrate my 70th birthday and Mitch made My meal so enjoyable. Cheesy mushrooms, she crab soup & a ribeye.

Yelp
Ok we had reservations and was glad we did as the place filled up quickly. We were immediately greeted and shown to our table. Our server exceeded our expectations. Since it was our first time there, our server walked us through not just the regular menu but their special Thursday menu. He suggested the calamari to start. I didn't get a pic right away because my husband dove right in. It was served with marinara and sweet chili and it was cooked to perfection. I got the baked stuff shrimp with garlic risotto and mixed veg and it was outstanding. I only was able to eat 1/2. Made for great leftovers! My husband said his steak was cooked to a perfect med-rare and he enjoyed every bite. We wanted to get dessert as we were celebrating his military retirement but we were beyond full. Prices were reasonable and the place was clean and comfortable. How have we lived here 6 years and never been? Looking forward to going back and trying more!

Yelp
Food was okay...nothing to brag about. Waitstaff was very nice Price was a little expensive

Dan P.

Yelp
Been coming here for many years and have never been disappointed. The team is always up and we've never been said "no" about a special request. The collards are the best... makes eating your veggies a special treat. Love the re-done patio. Quiet elegance in a parking lot...Great job everyone!

Yelp
Food was excellent in taste, however it was served lukewarm (both persons). They had corporate parties and the place was full, but we felt forgotten, waiting abt an hour for our food. Manager was super, offering to reheat, but we didn't want to wait longer. Ambiance is manly and super. But probably won't return. The owners response to my post was so positive, we did go back, for a lunch. The waiter, Cody was super, and the food was first rate. What a lunch!
google avatar

Carisa D.

Yelp
This establishment was beautiful inside and out, our server, Gina, was a delight, and the food was so good that I didn't even get a photo. Prices are really reasonable especially considering the quality of the dishes, the service, and the beautiful ambiance. PS We popped in on a whim and were definitely underdressed in my ripped jeans and Hubby's shorts but no one made us feel weird about it. Highly recommend!

Danielle J.

Yelp
Took my parents to Oscars for their last night in town visiting. They said it was their favorite meal. Honestly, one of the best crabcakes I've had in CHS. Stepmom loved the fried chicken, simple yet packed with flavor. Had to save room for the peanut butter pie too of course. Interesting place with 3 different atmospheres all under one roof. Good diverse menu. Something for everyone.

Yelp
The food and service are great ! We usually eat lunches there, last time was New Years Eve. Love the French Dip and She-Crab soup. Nice cozy restaurant, and these days I pay with credit card but tip the waitstaff cash everywhere. On the credit card slip I write cash on the tip line, so only the staff know what I tipped them. I'm a generous tipper and this keeps Uncle Sam out of it. Really enjoy Oscar's !

Yelp
Stopped for lunch. Terrific atmosphere and food. A treasure tucked away from heavy shopping traffic.

Yelp
A charming little restaurant we stumbled upon in Charlestown. We lucked out & got there in time for a 5pm dinner date. My boyfriend & I had a bowl of SHE CRAB SOUP, personally, I'm not a fan of she soup after sampling. Entree was Salmon for me & my man (he'snot certain) refer to photos. Overall, a romantic little seafood steak restaurant. Has been in business over 50 yrs so I thought "we really can't go wrong" it was worth it. Just not a fan of the she crab soup at all. I'd suggest reservations.
google avatar

Sarah F.

Yelp
My husband and I have been going to Oscar's for Christmas Eve for the past few years. It is delicious, plus we don't have to cook and clean up for just two people! We also love to bring people who visit us from out of town! Oscar's has the best shrimp and grits in all of Charleston. They are as good as my mom's homemade shrimp and grits!
google avatar

Shelli Q.

Yelp
We love everything about Oscar's, and we have for more than 20 years. It's our go to celebration spot in Summerville for family birthdays. It's our go to spot to celebrate making it through the work week. It's consistently great in all areas -- great tasting food, varied menu with something for every palate, attentive service, slightly more intimate booths for our frequent party of two, and also adeptly handling our party of 16. Our favorites are the steak with herb butter, she crab soup, seafood Provençal, Scottish salmon, and all of the desserts.
google avatar

Nicole I.

Yelp
Stopped by Oscar's for my birthday lunch. And loved everything about the establishment! It was early, so I was able to get a seat pretty easily. The inside was beautiful, but chose to sit outside because it was a lovely day. The hostess was very gracious and when I came back to ask where the bathroom was, she personally escorted me there. Our lunch was amazing and they have, great brunch mimosa and bloody Mary specials. The food was tasty but the bananas foster was out of this world!! At the conclusion of the meal, they gave me a little chocolate and a happy birthday card, super classy. Highly recommend for just an amazing quality place to eat.

Yelp
We came to Oscar's to celebrate my parents 50th anniversary. We called in advance in order to book for a large group. The tables were ready for us when we arrived. Service was great the entire way through. We got multiple appetizers, picking ones that would be easiest to share - crawfish, cheese curds, brussel sprouts, etc. All appetizers were great. I also started with a sangria, but it was probably the furthest thing away from a sangria - it tasted more like a mixed fruity drink with sprite as it had so much fizz, and it was served in a standard glass. It is the only thing I would not get again. For our meals, I got the crab cakes and my husband got the seafood burrito, which he absolutely loved. My crab cakes were full of crab, and good. My only gripe is that the sides were so little in comparison to others. My mom got a lot of mashed potatoes and vegetables with her scallops, and what I got was more for presentation of spinach and creamed cauliflower. I wish I had equal size portions of vegetables as the spinach was definitely enjoyable. My last gripe, is the credit card charge. The credit card charge is not known until they give you the bill. If you pay by credit card, expect this large addition. I paid for our entire group, so I was not going to have hundreds of dollars of cash on me. It's a disappointment to see at a nice restaurant, when I'm spending so much, they feel the need to add an additional charge, which I have not seen, at least yet, at other nicer restaurants. Overall, I would recommend Oscar's, but I can't quite give them 5 stars as there are improvements that can be made to put them up there in line with other upscale restaurants.

Jennifer H.

Yelp
Incredible service and cuisine in a beautiful space! The main dining area is lovely, and the bar area is comfortable and casual. Oscar's is easily my favorite restaurant in Summerville.

Yelp
Excellent food. Superb service. Lovely atmosphere. The "room" we were dining at was cozy and the lighting was lower. My husband and I enjoyed a romantic night out.

Yelp
We stop in Summerville over night on our way home to NJ. I picked this restaurant to eat that night by reviewing the reviews on Yelp. It was every thing that is good...food, service and people. Our server was excellent.

Yelp
Have to make Reservations which was very easy process. The place parking was tricky but they have a lot in the rear. Beautiful seating for all groups and the place ambiance is very tasteful. Service was above standard and the food was portioned perfectly and delicious . True 5 star for a first date and great evening out

Yelp
What could improve..... EVERYTHING. The reviews we read talked about how nice and pricey this place was. The menu looked basic, and good. So we went. We were only wearing polos, and shorts. Hoping that would be fine. Pulled in the parking lot...we felt overdressed. You have to stand/sit in a very cramped entryway to wait for your table (think Applebees from the 90's. Women in stirrup stretch pants, feeling all fancy, men with beer guts running outside to get a cigarette. The hostess was basically dressed for a bad yoga class. Her pants pulled so high that everything was on show...and that's not something you need to see before eating. Restaurant is clean. Waiter was decent...a little too forward on the upsell(on EVERYTHING) Food & Drink. White Sangria=NO. Cheap white wine with some cut up fruit. Not even close. Did not drink it. Ordered sweet tea (bojangles is better) Fried Green Tomatoes. Okay. Not great, but then it isn't tomato season. Baked cheesy Mushrooms. Let me just give you the recipe. Go to the store. Get a basic tub of mushrooms, throw them in a small dish. Cover them in jack cheese. Bake. DO NOT WORRY ABOUT SEASONING....save that for the main course. Filet Mignon, Lima beans, goat cheese mashed potatoes. Or more correctly... a salt lick, with some Lima beans added into a soup of salt. And mashed potatoes that ain't never met a goat. Braised short ribs. With potatoes, collard greens, and 'crispy onions'. Or... a sauced salt lick, with some of the WORST greens I have ever tasted. Same basic mashed potatoes. The soggiest crispy onions I ever done did see. The waiter was determined to get us to get dessert. So we got the apple cheesecake to go. THAT was worth it. It was good. We went home and ate pizza and had cheesecake. Never again.

Jamison J.

Yelp
Male manager? Right away dismissed my service animal. He lunged towards her to get a reaction, then said" yea she's not trained, you'll be sitting on the patio". First place we ate coming to look into moving here. On top of that ? Salmon meal came out chilling cold with cold mash potatoes . The manager April was very nice and accommodating, but the night was already ruined. Thanks Oscar's!! How many years in business?

Yelp
The food was amazing! The ambiance is casual on one side and slightly formal on the other. Nicole was very attentive and a joy. No complaints.

Yelp
Fantastic! The food was really great and the server was very friendly and helpful when our party had questions about the menu. The only reason I am putting four start instead of five is because we had to wait at the bar until our table was ready, which was fine as we didn't have a reservation but the barmaid was a bit sour and cold which was very off putting. But I definitely recommend giving this place a visit for the fantastic food!

Yelp
First of all, my wife prefers a booth and I usually have to ask for one. We got a booth without asking so that was a great way to start! We've been to Halls and ordered filet mignon and they were too rare so when we ordered filet mignon here we both got medium well. They were perfect. Sides were perfect and we were too full for desert. It was busy but it was like we were all alone in our booth. Service was top notch and we tipped accordingly. We will return and recommend to anyone that listens.

Yelp
While visiting Charleston for a friends wedding weekend my husband and I found a night to ourselves and couldn't eat any more BBQ so Yelp helped us find Oscars with its many 4 and 5 star reviews. The lack of available reservations made us hope we were picking the right place. Called at 3pm not hopeful they would have anything but they ended up being able to seat us at 8:15 so we took it (despite being slightly later than we would have liked.) We arrived to an adorable building that looked like an old house with both outdoor seating and indoor seating that seemed to be one side with a bar that was more casual dining but also a more formal dining room. Our server Charlie was fantastic and went over all the specials and helped make recommendations since it was our first visit. Prime rib cooked perfectly, an enormous wedge salad with creamy tangy bleu cheese, scallop appetizer was melt in your mouth and consisted of 4 large scallops but the only item that wouldn't get 5 stars in my eyes was the crab soup. The texture seemed a little off but the flavor was definitely there. Overall we would definitely come back to Oscars on another trip to try the many other menu items we had to pass up.

Yelp
This may be the best food I've tasted in Charleston and I am a big food snob B u T..... you gotta wonder why a restaurant that has this high quality of food and service would have Fox News playing behind the bar every minute that it's open. I asked if that was an every day thing. Both the wait staff and the management said yes, unfortunately and they can't get the owners to change it. Forcing fascist politics on their customers has got to be one of the dumber things a business owner can do.
