Service was great, and the restaurant was very clean. The only reasons why a star was taken off is because most of the sushi was not fresh. The freshest piece we had here was the salmon. All of the fish used was pre-cut, (not freshly cut). (We know this because we sat at the sushi bar.) The other reason why I took a star off is because the chef forgot to add on the salmon roe for our sake don (a critical ingredient for this type of don). We asked about it, and they added the salmon roe on for us immediately. We would not recommend this place because other places do indeed have fresher sushi.

Not super impressed. The food was ready quickly, and the soup was hot -- those are the pluses. When my husband ran in to pick up our order he asked about utensils. The woman said "it's in the bag" and turned away. We found one fork, one spoon, and one pair of chopsticks -- to share? We ate in the parking lot as we had a tight schedule. So it wasn't as though the food sat for a while, but yet (besides the soup), the temperature and texture left a lot to be desired. The Alaskan Roll sushi was lukewarm (!) and the fried Sunday Morning Roll was soggy, with no flavor. As far as serving size: The soup was a small plastic container for $8.00. The sushi was $50 for a small amount. We also paid extra for the 2 orders of Alaskan Rolls to be gf, but they put the gf items in the same plastic container as the Sunday Morning Roll, which was not gf. We paid $1.00 extra for sauce, which came in a tiny condiment container. There was a very small portion of ginger and Wasabi that was only enough for a few pieces of sushi, not enough for the 3 orders they put in one tray. Basically, it was a $60+ (before Instacart credits) lunch. I anticipated better quality -- but Kroger sushi is on par or better. The disappointing results were unexpected -- especially with all the positive reviews online. All in all, we ate it but would not go back. And sadly cannot recommend.

Google
This place was recommended to me by a co-worker. And I took them on their word , that the food was good. And best believe the food was good. I ordered the chicken wings, which they were PHENOMENAL! Also I tired the Sushi panini, which was amazing! And then I tried two of special sushi rolls, which was some of the best sushi I have ever had. The service was amazing. Everyone was so kind and the restaurant vibe was very laid back and chill. I truly looking forward to coming back and trying more food on the menu! I definitely would give my overall experience a 11/10!

Google
It was my first visit to this restaurant. There were plenty of options in the meal. The pork ramen is tasty. They grilled the surface of the pork a bit to enhance the depth of the flavor. The sushi is tasty, but not the top notch. The tempura shrimp roll was wonderful. The vibe of the restaurant is great, but feel like it is a little bit under staff in the peak hours. The choice of dessert is a bit disappointing. I expect there would be some ice cream or mochi serving but none is available. There is only one option of dessert in the menu.

Google
I used to get the sushi Panini all the time last year but the past 2 times I ordered it this year it has been extremely plain. I ordered spicy tuna and it looks like they just slapped some tuna from a can onto it and it’s not even spicy in the slightest. It’s missing avocado when it’s suppose to come with it! Very disappointed because I really used to love this place but I will not be ordering from here anymore!

Google
Hands down, this is the best sushi in Columbus. The service is consistently top-notch, and the sushi rolls are absolutely amazing. You really can't go wrong with any of the rolls, but my personal favorites are the Friday Night, Oshio, Mt. Fiji, and Mt. Kita. Highly recommend!

Google
This place was amazing. The sushi was extremely tasty and incredibly well presented. Everything was superb. If you love sushi, you’ll enjoy this. I would suggest the summer roll (with sweet potato) and the Columbus roll… I went 3 nights in a row and had the same meal each time.

Very tasty sushi spot! I got the salmon skin roll and it was delicious!

Yelp
I always want to try Oshio as had been hearing about their sushi and sure it doesn't disappoint. Bonus would be catching on their happy hour, which run through weekday AND Saturday too Majority of my sushi order consist with salmon [which is my favorite]. Freshly made sushi with prefect ratio with the rice. Lovely plating is always a bonus. Since they have ramen on the menu, I have to order and try. It was decent with the broth is quite subtle. On the other hand, their Tempura Udon is up my alley. The dashi broth is umami and the udon cooked just right. I like they serve the tempura on the side, so that it won't get soggy from the broth.

Yelp
Oshio staff went above and beyond to give great customer service. Our server was consistently checking on us to give us a good experience and made everything so simple for us. We decided to split an entree to have with our sushi since we knew the rolls would be good, but might not be filling enough. They gave us two plates already split from the kitchen which just made our job of eating it even easier! I can tell you that the rolls were much more filling than we thought they would be and we were struggling to finish the rice. I got the Oshio Roll and he got the Snow Crab Roll and we both throughly enjoyed our meals. We loved the peach sake which tasted like juice and was a great addition to our meals as well. We will 100% be back very soon to have another meal at Oshio and try out more enticing things on the menu! (Maybe this time I'll remember to check-in and get the discount).

Yelp
To date, Oshio has been my go-to Japanese place with my family. I'm ok with their bento box, though I wish the bulgogi beef or teriyaki beef was better and less dry. Sushi rolls are the best and a favorite of ours. Wish their soup selections were better...they're ok. Still looking for better though. Hard to beat Crazy Rockin' Sushi in Irvine CA.
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered Uber Eats from here while traveling for work and was really impressed with the quality and presentation! The beef bulgogi bento box had good portions; the bulgogi marinade was super tasty. It came with salad with ginger miso dressing, 2 pieces of sweet potato tempura, 2 pieces of shrimp tempura (& dipping sauce), white rice, and 4 pieces of sushi (I chose spicy tuna). I also ordered an extra piece of salmon sashimi to try and it was good quality. I was full afterwards. Delivery was quick and efficient to my hotel. I had put a note for utensils and didn't get any, but it wasn't a big deal.

Yelp
I have been a couple times and both have been great. Happy hour has decent specials and a wide selection. Regular menu is full of choices to satisfy any tastes even if you aren't into sushi or sashimi. Service has been good every time I've been, friendly. Seating can get a bit cramped on a Friday night but there is bar area seating as well as tables. I have this place on my list whenever I want something different or a change of pace to my norm.

Yelp
Came here the other day for dinner. Husband had onigiri and sushi and I decided to try their ramen. First off, their sushi presentation was gorgeous. The rolls were good too. The onigiri were a bit larger than I'd seen before and they were generous with the filling. The ramen was good, but not great I'd say. I think I went in with high expectations though. Service was great and it's got a very nice high class ambience without being too fancy. Overall I'd definitely recommend this spot.

Yelp
Loved the ambiance and the service. I would rate the ambiance as 4/5 just because it's not perfect for me but many people visit especially students so it could be 5/5 for them. I could not say anything bad about service so it's 5/5 for me. The food was just okay. Pretty much Americanized. We ordered gyoza (2/5). Not a fan of the sauce. The chicken wings (4/5) were good. Crunchy and pretty tasty. I also ordered pork katsudon ( 2/5)-it's not what I expected. The pork didn't have any taste and it was just pork chop with sauce on the side. And again, not a fan of the sauce. The pork had a nice crunch though. The miso soup was also pretty good-can't complain about it other than I wish it came with entrees instead of having to order it separately for $4.

Yelp
I tried Oshio for the first time a couple weeks ago and LOVED it. Their sushi is very very good. I'm usually pretty picky about sushi but since I tried it for the first time I've already ordered it again. Will definitely return. New favorite sushi spot.

Yelp
It's taking me FOREVER to find good sushi! So I been a little scared to eat seafood up here. From Florida but working here in Columbus. Have Had an incident at another "sushi restaurant " where I got sick so been iffy about trying anything else. I was craving sushi so bad so I finally came here since reviews were all good. LOVE!
google avatar

Yelp
Always very good food and service. I tried spicy edamame also this time which was good!

Yelp
Another perfect sushi experience in Columbus!!! Whenever I eat a meal alone, I feel like I always want to go to a sushi restaurant and sit at the sushi bar. Last night was one of those nights. Oshio is located in a busy plaza in Grandview. Parking was really the only difficulty because the lot is crowded and spots are tight. The restaurant itself is quaint and lovely. I was seated promptly and ordered my usual seaweed salad and the sushi deluxe platter. Everything came out quickly and tasted delicious. I really enjoyed the experience and would definitely come here again!

Yelp
They were busy on a Friday night. This is a smaller space with a couple of tables in the center, sushi bar and drink bar seating, with some community high-top bar style tables along the outskirts. There was a wait, we were originally quoted 30 minutes so we decided to go to a place nearby. 10 minutes had passed when they called that our table was ready. We had to give up our spot because we thought we had more time. When we got back to the restaurant we had to sit at a community table towards the back. It was freezing and drafty being near the back entrance and large windows. It made for uncomfortable dining. We waited awhile for the server to greet us. It tooks a long time for our order to come out. When we did finally get to eat, the sushi and meal itself was specatular. Very flavorful and filling. The wait times were not fun though and felt a little ignored being in one of the further table areas.

Yelp
Will not honor the yelp $5 off offer, even after there were multiple mistakes in my order. The sushi rolls, with the exception of the restaurant namesake Oshio roll, are unimpressive, small, and expensive. The veggie ramen is a very bland broth although the spinach was a nice addition. Largely unimpressed. Passable food but not worth the price or frustration.

Yelp
Saw an ad on instagram about their 'new' sushi panini and just knew I had to give it a shot. Going out for sushi is always scary because I fear it'll break the bank - but here, I was pleasantly surprised - my meal was super affordable (did takeout) and I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of food that was included in the panini order, honestly plenty enough for one person. The panini eats like a sandwich - so impressed at the soft yet crunchy texture they get on the "rice buns" and really admire the creativity involved with that dish. Not only does it look beautiful but it tastes incredible too. Hard to believe they get most every component you could want into every bite and the sauce both in the filling, as well as the dipping one, were the cherry on top. So so savory and worth the instagram hype. The tempura was a bit of a flavorless letdown, but dowsing them in sauce helped a lot :)

Yelp
Sooooo good. The sushi panini was so yummy. I think about the food all the time when I'm not there!

Yelp
Food is good quality. Good service. Great chill date night spot. A lot of menu options good place to go to multiple times

Yelp
Amazing sushi for good prices! Really enjoyed this place. The sushi was delicious and you got your moneys worth without paying a fortune. Service was super Friendly and checked on us throughout. Their HH is a great deal too.

Nadia M.

Yelp
If you're a sushi lover, this is the only place you need to go. The food is always great. From the moment you step in, the intimate atmosphere sets the perfect mood for a relaxing dining experience. We've become frequent guests and the staff are always welcoming and kind.
google avatar

Lisa L.

Yelp
If you go to Oshio, definitely just stick with the sushi. It's of excellent quality. The hot meals are just ok, and quite frankly lack flavor. I would give this location 3 stars, but the extra star is earned due to the pleasant ambiance.

M B.

Yelp
Food and service is great here every time. Prices are decent as well. Vibe of the restaurant is also great.
google avatar

Alycia H.

Yelp
I would take half a star away because they were late delivering our food but that's on Uber eats so here we are talking about food.... I ordered a steak roll for the first time in my entire life and honestly it was lackluster but great for people who don't eat raw fish. The spicy soy sauce went great with it ... The rest of the meal was delicious. Lost half a star because I've had better salmon. I forget where I was in Columbus but the salmon was super thick and super buttery and this was just like one half a star lower grade. Mom enjoyed With me again, the ambience was fantastic because we ate from home. We were curled up in our blankets, eating sushi. Pretty cute if you ask me.
google avatar

Claire R.

Yelp
I've been here a few times, and it never disappoints. But the rolls I got this time were out of this world!!! The black dragon and orchid roll are my new favorites. The spicy salmon I could definitely do without, it was fine but definitely nothing special (not much fish). We sat at the bar and were greeted by the sushi chefs which was so cool. The service was very quick and attentive. I love that even though it's a smaller place, it is always busy and definitely a prime spot for sushi in the area (and my new favorite in the area!!).
google avatar

Michaela S.

Yelp
If you like sushi- this should be your go-to happy hour spot. They have some of the best happy hour deals I've seen at a sushi place (even better than some lunch combos I've seen). Their happy hour is 4-7 M-F but also 5-7 on Saturday which I feel like I don't see very often. I always order off the happy hour menu, and I get the veggie sushi plate, which is always filling without me being stuffed. This place came recommended to me and now I recommend it to everyone I meet. Their service is excellent, the food comes out quickly, and is consistently good. If you have not been, definitely check it out. I will say the location can get a little tricky, as it is in a plaza that can get quite busy. I usually automatically head to the back for parking. Word to the wise- I've only had trouble parking when there was a major sports game on because it shares a parking lot with Buffalo Wild Wings. If you avoid those times- you'll be golden.
google avatar

Tam L.

Yelp
Service was great! Everyone was friendly and the food and drinks came out quickly. I also got the spicy soy edamame, you pour the sauce on yourself or dip it.
google avatar

Amie R.

Yelp
First of all, amazing service! we were able to sit where we wanted and the staff was so sweet!!! the music was amazing; whoever made the playlist has an amazing taste. speaking of taste, the FOOD!! Oh. EM. GEE!!! I got the tteboki, Onigiri, Tuna and Salmon Nigiri and an order of California rolls. the food is high quality and you can tell that every order is made with care and attention. I will most DEFINITELY come again! thank you for this amazing experience! TLDR: Best sushi place in Ohio! 10/10 will eat here again!
google avatar

Vic P.

Yelp
Their Happy Hour rocks!!! Their sushi rice bowl was amazing! It was just what I expected from a Japanese omakaze.
google avatar

Abby R.

Yelp
Oshio has been my favorite sushi spot since being in Columbus. The staff is friendly and the service is always excellent. Can get a little bit crammed as the dining room is small, but worth it every time.
google avatar

Yelp
As the weather gets warmer, I crave some lighter food. Sushi is one of the perfect options! It was my first time visiting here, and I enjoyed all the dishes I ordered. * Sushi and Sashimi deluxe : a variety of fish, but the sashimi was a little thicker than I prefer. * Oshio Roll: it was one of their specialty rolls. A bunch of different ingredients in a roll, and I enjoyed the flavor! * Pork Tonkatsu: it was crispy outside and the meat was juicy. I liked the sauce~

Yelp
Updating to review my recent Oshio orders-- I've been a couple of times since my last review. I've tried the bulgogi, ramen, and sushi paninis since then. The sushi paninis are a bit of a marvel. Imagine sticky rice mixed with egg stuck into a seaweed quesadilla, covered in panko crumbs, but still made into a flat shape, then deep fried. Two of those pieces become the 'bread', the inside is layered with avocado and spicy tuna, salmon, crab, or veggies, it's cut into quarters, then voila. A sushi panini. I absolutely love them and ordered one of each to share with friends at a dinner party recently-- they were a hit. Definitely ask for wasabi because they do not come with it. The ramen... just isn't great. I won't go into too much detail but just go to a ramen spot for that. Oshio isn't that. The beef bulgogi I've tried was also just ok. If you know what to order, Oshio is great. I probably won't get adventurous again because they do their staples well. Sushi paninis for the win!

Starflight T.

Yelp
I dont like posting reviews like this but after me and my friends exited the establishment we were pursued by whom i assume to be the owner. He asked why we hadnt tipped (we had tipped) then got aggressive when we told him we had. Food was great but if you dont empty your pockets to them they will follow you out the door. Perhaps paying your employees more is a solution
google avatar

Becca O.

Yelp
Had a great dinner at Oshio, the restaurant is cute with a tranquil vibe. Our waitress was able to answer all of my questions regarding the roll ingredients and gluten free options! The sushi was prepared quickly and I was provided my own helping of gluten free soy sauce upon request. Supposedly they can do GF tempura as well.
google avatar

Saphace A.

Yelp
I haven't really tried sushi in Columbus. I've been to Fusian, but it's mediocre. This is one of my friend's favorite places to go. Parking lot sucks!! As it shares with other businesses but is usually always full. I found parallel parking down a side street with no problem. We ordered drinks and okonomiyaki to share. Yum!! I'm basic with sushi and am satisfied with most anything on the menu. So I asked our waitress what she recommended. She told me to get cherry blossom and the ninja roll. Peep the menu for more details of the sushi on their website. Everything was good!! I was stuffed. Had to bring it home. Great experience! I'll come back for sure!! One of the best places for sushi in town in addition to Akai Hana!!

Yelp
Sweetie wanted sushi and found this on Yelp. I had heard of it but it wasn't really on my radar. Tucked in the little strip with 5 Guys, tight parking on a Saturday night but they have a couple of pickup spots set aside. Easy ordering on the phone, and looks like you can do it online. We got several rolls. I tried the spider and Mr. Kim, and a piece of unagi. All beautifully presented, and pretty big. Tasty, fresh, filling. Service at the counter was great, there's a $5 off check-in coupon, and it was super easy to pick up. Inside is pretty plush, not overly fancy but nice. It's a little expensive, but hey, it's sushi, and prices are on par for quality. Not the best in town but pretty good, and if you want something better than Fusian but not crazy expensive (and don't want to dine in necessarily) this is great.
google avatar

Hailey D.

Yelp
Pretty standard sushi and dumplings. I wasn't particularly wowed compared to other sushi experiences I've had, but there wasn't anything wrong with either of the items I tried. Cute bar and nice location but I'd probably choose something different all-in-all :)
google avatar

Jenny R.

Yelp
I'm only basing my 3 stars because not only was the food sub par but it was pricy as well. The presentation was nice but the flavor/seasoning was not the best. Our waitress was attentive tho, which was nice.
google avatar

Colin M.

Yelp
Not great sushi for the price... I had three sushi rolls all $10-$15 each. None of them were great. Particularly, the Spider Roll I had tasted greasy. My server was nice but I got the feeling she didn't care too much about my comments regarding the quality of the food. I ate outside on the patio which was fine, -as long as you don't mind a bit of traffic nearby (on 5th Ave.) Can't say I'll be back...
google avatar

Andrew M.

Yelp
I love sushi. I can have it multiple times a week and I'd be happy. I separate the quality of the rolling the sushi from the flavor. It's surprising some places have flare at flavor but poor technical skills. Oshio was a mixed bag. The welcoming was awkward. The ambiance seemed pleasant. The server was borderline. Not friendly and the mask didn't help with communications. Miso was very hot and very tasty. Sea weed salad was pleasant and not overly sweetened as at many places. The rolls, we ordered six. Four were poorly rolled. The chef didn't trim the ends of the rolls either so presentation lost flare. The flavor was good to great on three. The other three were ok. As said a mixed bag. I'd do carry out from here but not likely that I'd do dine in again.
google avatar

David E.

Yelp
We've had good recent experiences at OSHIO. Their menu has changed a few times but always filled with selections we enjoy. What a friendly wait staff!
google avatar

Megan C.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite sushi restaurants in Columbus! I love trying different speciality rolls, and usually always get a shrimp tempura and spicy tuna roll as well. The miso soup is so amazing also- perfect start to any meal! I also enjoy ordering something different from sushi from time to time- and usually choose the fire chicken. The interior of the restaurant is nice, and the service is always friendly.

JoAnn L.

Yelp
Fresh good food. Great service. I was there with kids and the waitress brought the kids food first and was very attentive to us.

Yelp
So first of all, I really need to lower my expectations for sushi in Ohio... but Oshio was a let down even with lowered expectations. Cavet, I did get it togo so I'll have to return for dinein. The space, parking, and staff all seemed nice. Its a cozy restaurant without feeling cramped. There's a fair amount of parking in front and overflow in the back. The staff I interacted with was nice and courteous. My issue is just with the food but again, my sushi standards may be a bit high. I ordered the Ji roll and the Mt. Fiji. Both were packaged well and presented well. When I went to taste the Ji roll, it really had no taste to me. Its supposed to be spicy salmon inside and it tasted neither spicy nor of salmon. The salmon on top was also sinewy and not smooth and buttery like I anticipated. The Mt Fiji roll was at least slightly better, I could taste the spicy krab salad and it was nice to have pieces of soft shell in that as well. The transport of it probably led to some sogginess but it held up alright given the circumstances. My concern with both rolls was the actual sushi. Now idk if they use different rice for the nigiri va the rolls but my sushi was overcooked and mushy. It also lacked the slight vinegar/sweet flavor that sushi is meant to have. Overall, a rather average experience. Again, it may just be a takeout issue but for the price I expected a little bit more.

Carrie L.

Yelp
Visited my niece at OSU and she wanted sushi. I went to yelp and this place got good reviews. I'm giving it another great review! The place is cozy, welcoming and has plenty of parking. They have happy hour from 4-6 with apps, sushi and drink specials. I found the prices to be very reasonable and the sushi to be delicious. They have a 3 roll special during happy hour for $14! Our server was very attentive and kind. We will be back!

James S.

Yelp
This place is fantastic. Everything has been extremely fresh. Excellent specialty Rolls. Great customer service, good ambiance, nice TV's. Excellent Happy from 4:00-6:00 M-F. Highly recommend.

Yelp
My friend and I came here on Wednesday for Happy Hour (which is 4PM - 7PM.) It was really really busy but we were lucky and snagged 2 spots at the bar. I love the vibes of this place but what I ordered was just not it. I ordered the chicken wings and stir fried chicken bowl. The chicken wings were very basic. Taste just like the frozen wings I can get at Kroger. The stir fried chicken bowl was so basic. The broccoli was boiled with no flavor at all. I need to come back to try their sushi because I've heard it's pretty good! I will update when I come back and try their sushi!

Yelp
Miss the place. Was a weekly go to when we lived in Grandview. Moved to Milwaukee now and there isn't much close to this place. It's tough to find solid sushi in Columbus and this is certainly the best. I have been to every spot and this is the only one we would go back to weekly. Bluefin otoro is excellent along with the best spicy salmon roll I have ever had. They don't always have the otoro but when they do you certainly have to get it. Waiters and the owner are super friendly. I believe the owners father owns multiple spots in Columbus and this one tops them all.

Yelp
Good quality, taste great ! I like my Cherry Blossom a lot! Changed from avocado to cucumber. Holy grail was good too! The rice ball was not the best. The rice taste too sour for me and when it's KOREAN rice ball I was expected for some sesame oil taste/smell but none. Service was as I expect, overall I'll be back later.

Taylor T.

Yelp
We went here for a quick date night on a weekday and it was absolutely phenomenal! The food was incredible and the sushi tasted so fresh - shocking for an East coast girl like me to say about an inland state! Our waiter was wonderful! The table was never dirty, glasses never empty and always had food right away. Totally would recommend! Also - get the crispy rice.

Yelp
I quite enjoyed this place. It's pretty small inside, but we only waited a few minutes to be sat at a table. The menu was a QR code, and they have a lot of options. We had edamame as an appetizer which came with salt on the side. This was pretty standard edamame. No complaints. I decided on the Bento Box to try a variety of things and it was a win! The shrimp tempura was ok, I was not a big fan of the sweet potato tempura though. The little side salad didn't do much for me, just had a few bites. The spicy tuna rolls were really good though, not too spicy. I took some home as leftovers for the next day and still really good. The beef bulgogi was also very good! Meat was tender and flavorful. I also took this home with the white rice and reheated the next day and still great flavor and texture. It was quite a bit of food, but good price. Would deff order again, or maybe just get the beef bulgogi and spicy tuna rolls as their own order next time. Definitely a great sushi and Japanese food spot in Grandview. I got to practice my chop stick skills as well. The only thing I didn't love was the house red wine. Tasted like juice but not in a good way. I had the merlot for my second glass and it was better.
