Yelp
Finally able to eat at osito! I was amazed by the decor, so beautiful inside with warm woods, beautiful plants, and an amazing staff. Chef Seth was there and so inviting! I could not smell smoke from the outside which impressed me the most. I asked chef Seth about the smoke and the neighborhood and he said he spent a lot of money on a machine that cleans up the air before if goes out and it's always tested by the city. I say all this because he cooks by fire and it's so amazing! Truly deserving of his Michelin star! The dessert was done with the smoke of the fire. Everything tasted so good from the kanpachi, trout, steak, sourdough bread with caviar and tobiko *chefs kiss* My compliments to the chef and staff! I highly recommend!

Yelp
Rounded up to 3 stars. Dinner at the bar: think Nordic/Japanese minimalism--concrete and wood, sleek but cold. The bartender was friendly, cocktails were tasty, and the food? Slow. The sea urchin with almonds and mushroom foam was the fave, but the pigshead leaned fat-on-fat with not enough citrus to cut through. Radicchio salad? Tasty but familiar flavors, tricky to eat. Crudo was generous pieces though poorly trimmed. The clay-baked trout was creamy and delicious but needed some crunch or something to complement. Fermented pana cotta style dessert? My wife nailed it: "different but wouldn't get it again." Service was poor, especially for a restaurant of this caliber: a forgotten drink, our main served to our neighbor then removed and served to us, a 20-minute wait for the check, and needing to ask for silverware--twice. We both noticed upon exit not feeling completely full. For $300 pre-tip, any number of others favorites at this price point call much louder: Rich Table, Liholiho, San Ho Wan, Cotogna, Angler... considering the $200 for Osito's tasting menu, alternatives like Anomaly, Merchant Roots, Niku spring to mind. Maybe it was an off night for service and the kitchen, but it's certainly not tempting me back.

Yelp
Came here for dinner with a friend and had a great time. Everything was so nice and the staff was so friendly. The food was good - the beef tongue and squab were the best dishes.

Yelp
Osito restaurant, which made their ambitious debut in 2021 as a 100% live fire and fine dining restaurant, recently introduced a more accessible $90 weekday four-course tasting menu, as well as an all a la carte reservation. Gone is the massive central communal table, replaced by numerous smaller tables which opens up the space nicely. I was a big fan of their adjacent sister bar Liliana before its closure, which offered strong la carte dishes from the same kitchen. They've essentially folded Liliana into Osito now, offering diners more flexibility in the same warm space with a view of the open kitchen. Chef-owner Seth Stowaway excels at making his elevated dishes fun and welcoming, and this new arrangement allows his vision to shine more coherently. On my last visit, I enjoyed the meat-focused shorter tasting menu with la carte seafood supplements. It was a quiet weeknight, and not only were the food and drink plentiful, but we also enjoyed stories told with Stowaway's infectiously jolly and real energy. The first course was a cured pork belly-wrapped savory profiterole filled with Harbison cheese. The delightful bite came out on a bed of smoldering fragrant pine needles, a wonderful welcome for all five senses. We moved onto some oysters and crudo from the a la carte menu. These were subtle in flavor, and paired nicely with our bright, citrus-forward cocktails. The next course on the tasting menu was a rabbit roulade, accompanied by a rabbit offal-stuffed morel, which further exaggerated the impressively sized mushrooms. Surrounded in a bowl of chicken fish consomme and a dollop of miso, there was much to love in this umami-forward dish. In a nod to his Texan roots, Stowaway served a saucy smoked brisket as the main course on the shorter menu. The familiar, yet elevated preparation was plated with early season grilled peach, potatoes, and basil. The fancy summer BBQ I didn't know I was craving. Next up was a large-format dish from the a la carte menu, a shrimp and squid claypot rice assembled table-side and topped with a generous amount of whipped chili butter. This was one of my favorites, bursting with layered flavors and textures. Dessert was inspired by the Southern hoe cake, a cornmeal pancake of sorts. This version came with blueberry almond sauce, plus crème anglaise spooned table side. Another great example of elevated comfort food that Osito does so well. And at $90 for the four-course tasting, this might be the most affordable Michelin-starred restaurant in the city.

Yelp
this is a specific review for the jules pizza @ osito collab, but just here to say that osito is a beautiful space and I highly highly recommend it. they moved away from the one big huge table and the entire waitstaff was attentive and kind.

Yelp
We tried Osito for the first time during restaurant week in SF early April 24'. The service was immaculate- I don't think we had to wait a single beat for our food because we reserved the 5 course menu ahead of time. Chef Stowaway really started with a bang on this one with a pair of profiteroles being smoked on a bed of pine needles! This one had me smiling- all of the california campfires in my past brought to the forefront of my memories. The only reason I have to minus one star is because I could not eat one of the dishes that had pecans (and because we cannot give half stars). Otherwise this was a beautifully crafted menu. Wildly rustic and amazingly charred- I could still taste and smell the oaky goodness after the meal.

Yelp
Great dinner there yesterday, the stand out for me were the various sauces that accompanied some of the dishes. I was particularly blown away by the Pink Lady apple caramel sauce that accompanied the sourdough French toast, caviar, & butter, the combination was just amazing. The other stand out for me was the squash sauce that accompanied the sea urchin, it complimented the sea urchin so unexpectedly making it so smooth & almost buttery. The sauce for the trout was also amazing, love all the mushrooms & herbs that go with it too. The profiteroles with ham and pickles were delicious as well, my mouth is watering just recalling it! Service was wonderful, staff were all very welcoming & personable, you knew you were in a fine dining establishment because everyone was so attentive, but it didn't feel stiff & formal, in fact there was almost a casual feel about the place so that you could relax and just enjoy your meal. I really like how the dining room is set up, it feels very open, & there was so much spacing between each table that you almost feel as if you were dining in a private room. Watching the chefs working in the open kitchen was also a great experience, they all seem very relaxed and synchronized, and there seemed like a lot of room for them to work around each other. The chef/owner came out to speak with us towards the end of our meal which was a nice touch. This is a restaurant that is worth returning. We did the classic tasting menu with caviar addition, but they do have a price fixed 4 course menu option as well as an a la carte menu.

Yelp
Came here with a large group and had the tasting menu! Honestly, the experience here was kind of like the movie, "The Menu". Good: - The chef explained each course as it came out, and it was clear that a lot of thought was put behind each one! - The food was all so so good, we had a tomato on a spoon, oysters, pork, 2 courses of dessert, fondue, and even a waffle appetizer. - Super aesthetic plating, and lots of care put into the presentation - Very nice vibes, cool long private table for us Bad: - I left hungry even after the tasting, and wished each dish was 25% larger! Overall, this place is about what I'd expect from a tasting in SF, but I appreciate the thoughts and the way that each dish was explained!

Yelp
Not only a delicious meal, but an interesting one. Things were presented in unusual ways, unusual ingredients, and the tasting menu was refreshingly interesting. The lamb heart add on was worthwhile, and the belly-cheese profiteroles were strange and delicious. Cocktails were tasty as well, and the vinyl albums for a soundtrack were a nice touch. Well done space, and very friendly/helpful service. Would recommend for a date night or special occasion, or if you're just feeling like a treat.

Yelp
Great, distinctive meal. The two things that stand out the most: 1. The food is more original and weirder (in a good way) than most fancy meals. Part of that presumably bc of the live fire approach, but clearly just a very creative kitchen - stuff like the spiny lobster lettuce wrap bite, seafood salad, beef tongue, trout in clay and banana leaf - all very distinctive. 2. Ambiance felt very cool as well - small number of diners in a roomy and intimate space, very hip. Very friendly staff. Fav dish hands down was the uni + squash + walnuts - amazing. A couple of the dishes, to my mind, were fine but not super delicious (specifically, the trout and the profiteroles - seemed like they were going for innovation and then amazing taste fell a bit behind) - but the tasting menu on the whole was very strong, most of the dishes worked very well, and the overall experience is a lot of fun. Would happily return. Not sure why I haven't heard more about Osito or why it has a comparatively small number of reviews (I guess it's only a couple of years old and was born during the pandemic?).

Yelp
Thanks to Tasting Collective I was introduced to Chef Seth and Osito. Housed in a warm, intimate space in the Mission we were invited to a tasting menu that was unique and even challenged our taste buds. The menu was earthy, smokey and comforting. Of all the dishes the Don Watson lamb with the clay pot rice was our favorite. Appreciated the creativity and look forward to a future visit.

Yelp
This was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. The open-flame cooking and thoughtfully crafted dishes were truly unique. Since I've cut out alcohol, I was thrilled to see a pairing menu with non-alcoholic beverages--something I rarely find. The staff was personable and took time to thoroughly explain each course, and the head chef even came over to chat with us. The craftsmanship in every dish was impressive, and the décor and ambiance perfectly complemented the flavors and overall experience.

Yelp
Great service and ambiance with the open kitchen layout with the wood burning stone. The food was very flavorful and unique. One star (a half star) for automatic 25.5% gratuity/fees.

Yelp
Food here is very good, but the real reason they excel is the presentation of the whole experience, from the communal table to the open kitchen to the evidence of wood smoke everywhere that yet somehow does not actually overwhelm the rest of the meal. The menu changes seasonally, and as befits fine dining, is mostly tiny portions with artful presentation. Our visit started with little spoons of caviar, oysters, and tiny buns that might have been better steamed rather cooked over fire, and only got better from there. Service is friendly and attentive and detailed without being exquisite-- they feel approachable as to aloof, which is entirely fitting given the atmosphere. Rabbit carved tableside was such an ordinary experience yet comfortably elevated by the friendly staff, and meeting Chef Seth Stowaway at the end of the night (we were the last guests to leave) on a tour of the kitchen was a great capstone to end the night. 4.5 stars. I want to bring myself to round up but I can't quite do it, even tho Osito is a wonderful experience if you can afford it.

Yelp
Brunch from a Michelin Star restaurant, a la carte? Yes please! Music played via records (some Cyndi Lauper and Janet Jackson at some point). Service was friendly, lots of laughs, great fun. All the food was unbelievable. Favorites were anything with their grilled toast (smoked trout toast, scrambled eggs& toast), the fresh corn grits (Must Get!) which pairs surprisingly well with uni (sea urchin), profiteroles, and lamb. Will be coming back for more. Bill ended up at $70 per person with dessert and some leftovers. We were able to split all the dishes pictured amongst four people.

Yelp
Ambiance: love the deco - it's classy with natural touches (like an elevated fancy tree house). Loved the plates and silverware. Service was great (until the end where they got busy and sort of forgot to bring our check) but they give out small goodie bags at the end which i thought was cute :) Food: Oh my - we went for the fish and foliage menu - and I think they went a little too experimental. Nothing really tasted good, maybe acquired taste? Didn't enjoy the flavor profiles. Some dishes (like the hamachi) was super bland and tasted grassy, other dishes were over salted. The first course (with the razor clams, scallops, oysters, etc.) was fine aside from the oyster being slightly fishy (and I LOVEEE oysters so for me to say oyster tastes fishy is a red flag for most people), and the clams weren't clean (slightly sandy). I think my favorite part of this entire menu was the dried squid side dish with fermented peppers (classic korean snack/side dish - something I enjoyed a lot in my childhood) The escargot (or eyescargot as they called it that used fish balls and snail) .... Wow..... it definitely was.... Fishy. Very fishy. I think I gagged a little in my mouth. I remember the couple next to us tried it at the same time and we all just stared at each other with a knowing look. Definitely was not worth the price tag - I'm not even sure this menu deserves a Star... HOWEVER - my friend has tried their original menu, Game Birds, and raved about it. I think because that was their original and what they're known for, that it would be much better executed. If they bring that menu back - I would definitely give it a try. This current menu however really does not do it for me

Yelp
As a dedicated food enthusiast, I have had the privilege of dining at some of the world's finest establishments. However, my recent experience at Osito, a hidden gem tucked away in the heart of the culinary world, has left an indelible mark on my palate and soul for a last-minute booking for my birthday. Without a doubt, Osito deserves more for its unparalleled Summer tasting menu, wine pairings, and an array of exquisite add-ons. I appreciate that my family was able to sit at head of the table; super fun. From the moment I stepped into Osito, I was greeted with an atmosphere that radiated elegance and warmth. We arrived early so we got a chance to hang out; eat some delicious bits & drink @ Liliana. The restaurant's minimalist yet inviting décor sets the stage for a dining experience that transcends mere sustenance. The attentive and knowledgeable staff made me feel like an honored guest, guiding me through the culinary journey that awaited. The Summer tasting menu at Osito is nothing short of a gastronomic masterpiece. Each meticulously crafted course showcases the culinary genius of the chef and the dedication to using the finest seasonal ingredients. The menu's diversity is a testament to the chef's creativity, as it seamlessly combines flavors and textures from around the world. From the first bite to the last, I was transported on a culinary odyssey that left me craving more. The wine pairings, carefully curated to complement each course, elevated the dining experience to new heights. The sommelier's expertise shone through as each glass of wine brought out the nuances of the dishes, creating a harmonious symphony of flavors that danced on my palate. It was evident that every selection had been chosen with precision and a deep understanding of the menu. What truly sets Osito apart is its commitment to providing a personalized and unforgettable experience. The array of add-ons, such as the truffle services & wines. These thoughtful extras transform a memorable meal into an extraordinary one, and they exemplify Osito's dedication to exceeding expectations. Throughout the evening, the impeccable service was a testament to the restaurant's commitment to excellence. The staff's passion for their craft, their attentiveness, and their willingness to go above and beyond created an atmosphere of unparalleled hospitality. Osito not only satisfies the senses but also touches the heart. In conclusion, my family had a wonderful time, Osito's Summer tasting menu, paired with an exceptional wine selection and an array of enticing add-ons, is a culinary experience that deserves a second Michelin star. Every aspect of my dining experience at Osito was a testament to the dedication, talent, and passion of the entire team. If you seek an extraordinary dining adventure that will linger in your memory long after the meal has concluded, look no further than Osito. This restaurant has earned its place among the culinary elite and is a shining star in the world of gastronomy.

Yelp
Osito was good but a bit too much fanfare. The food was very good but we left hungry. I had communicated my allergies in advance and was told they could accommodate, but a few courses in, our server advised that the rest of the dishes would include one of the allergens. If this was communicated in advance, I would have skipped dining here - it felt inappropriate to spring that on me halfway through the meal. Creative idea behind the restaurant and chef seems talented but the experience felt showy/over the top

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Osito for a while now. My friend and I went to their casual concept Liliana last year and on my way to the bathroom, I saw the giant communal table at Osito and put them on my restaurant to try list. I finally made it here for my TGIF dinner after a really long week. Their spring tasting menu is 7 courses with the option for the caviar supplement which I ordered since I had a really long week. (1). The opening bites included trout roe, spot prawn, duck liver mousse, sunflower seed bun and silken tofu. Some hits and misses here - the trout roe and spot prawn were great. The seed bun was good. I didn't like the other two bites. (2). Their anchovy course included three bites. The lamb tartare was too salty. The classic Caesar with Chicharron was good. The chicken fried pickled anchovy was way too heavily breaded. (3). The veggie course included carrots and bok Choy. I really enjoyed this one. (4). The bread course included flour tortilla, porcini and morel mushrooms and their house butter. I liked this a lot and probably needed two tortillas. (5). The main entree course is rabbit roulade stuffed with morels and morel mushroom stuffed with rabbit and pork sausage. This was just outstanding. I also really loved the Carolina gold rice that came with this course. (6). The first sweet course is mulberry, bedstraw - redwood Semifreddo and Pine nuts. This was a surprisingly good course. (7). The final dessert include potato donuts, candy cap, cocoa nib pudding and oat and blueberry cake. This was great. I really loved the potato donuts. The caviar course include a healthy portion of caviar with fresh pancetta and aebelskivers. I really loved it and this was definitely a highlight for me. My non-alcoholic pairing for the evening was the Pearl River (strawberry, amaretti, Thai basil, agave, garum) and it was delicious. Service was excellent but tended to be on the fussy side. I really loved the layout of the restaurant. I was seated at the center of the long communal table and had a great view of the kitchen. They sent me home with the menu for the night as well as a small bottle of the other non-alcoholic drink (the phonygroni). With tax and tip, the tasting menu is just under $300. The caviar course was $45 (around $60, with tax and tip) and I definitely recommend it. It's a splurge and I think the price is consistent with the experience. It's definitely Michelin-level and worth a try.

Yelp
Dining at Osito was one of the most unique fine dining experiences I've had in SF. The ambiance is very very intimate, and everyone is seated at 1 table -- since the courses were served for everyone all at once, it was extremely fun seeing and hearing everyone's reaction at the food, which was divine. The food is so unique, and I fell in love with the way the chef expressed their culinary artistry -- every dish was unique and delicately made. Service is like, 1000 out of 10. The staff is very very friendly and highly attentive to your every need.
google avatar

Daniel X.

Yelp
Overall a not that satisfied experience. The environment is more of a communal experience so the seats are pretty close. To start with, server does not provide wine menu so we have to ask them for the menu to get drinks. The food is alright. There are some highlight of the menu such as the squab which is cooked perfectly and the duck in seven ways use some of the unexpected part of the bird. However the flavor profile is a bit too spicy for me. I cannot finish the soup because it is too spicy. For dessert, I think some of the flavor is too strong and give a bit unpleasant aftertaste in the end. I would say that chef is nice and the service in general is nice but maybe the taste is just not my cup of tea. Might come back for new menu.

Yelp
I wanted to go long time ago. The decor is really nice, like a hip scandinavian wood cabin with an open kitchen. As soon as you enter, they make you feel special. I arrived earlier so I had a cocktail at Liliana which is the bar of Osito I believe. When dinner was ready, they welcomed us with an aperitif drink. So tasty. The service is 10/10, very attentive. Restrooms: clean and pretty. The food was good. Every dish has a story. My favorite was the Antelope chili. So flavorful! At some point they give you a hot towel for your hands. It would make more sense to me to give it at the beginning since the amuse-bouche were eating with your hands. Lovely evening. Totally recommend this place!

Yelp
The vibe and ambiance reminded of the woods and the Twilight. I had an honor eating at the restaurant as every dish was delicious. Everything was made with care and you could see the creativity in very dish through the chefs passion. The service was great and the staff was so friendly as well. Would love to go again sometime!

Yelp
We had been wanting to try Osito for a while, and when the Classic California 4 Course menu dropped at a slightly lower price point, we immediately made a reservation. Everything was top notch from: Service - a lot of attention to detail even before we showed up, adding details from Tock reservation system and making sure they were right in the restaurant. Also amazingly would put plates down at same time. Ambiance - amazing kitchen view, plus interesting plates and cutlery Food - fancy but simple at the same time. All incredible, and some very memorable dishes. I never thought a bread and butter dish was one I would write home about

Yelp
This place was a total treat. First and more importantly, the food. We did the prix fixe menu, which was reasonably priced at $125/person, and ordered one item -- the beef tongue -- from the a la carte. The beef tongue was actually my favorite dish; very tender and flavorful. The prix fixe was mostly fish-based, due to a collab they were putting on with some Mendocino chiefs, and featured a large grilled cod (whole fish) as the main entree, which was meaty and flaky with a nice charred crust. Other highlights included the profiteroles, which were incredibly unique and bursting with umami flavor (one had uni, which was awesome). Add to that a variety of delicious fresh crudo-type dishes of raw fish, some oysters and clams, and it made for a well-rounded, excellent dinner. I'm also not normally a cocktail lover, but the menu features some amazing cocktails -- especially their mezcal cocktail, which emitted just enough of the mezcal smoke without overwhelming you. Second, the ambiance and service were completely top-tier. The restaurant is small and quiet, with a completely open kitchen, which (obviously) makes the place smell amazing but also adds a layer of intimacy to the experience. Before each dish, the chef responsible for it came out and told us a little bit about it; reminiscent of Lazy Bear but on a more casual (again, more intimate) scale. The staff is super attentive, the decor is well-done and minimalist, and they play vinyl throughout dinner from a record player in the corner. Really cool. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Osito, having been recently awarded its Michelin star was on the list for a double date we had last month. I was excited by the methods of cooking and creative ingredients. Unfortunately the experience was just "meh". Let me explain... Initially we had some amazing cocktails in their bar, this was the highlight of the visit. They sat us at their large communal table, that was fun. The food started coming out, it was rustic and adventurous but at some points just felt ultimately lack luster. The lowest points of the meal were veal sweet breads which I usually love, squab which while tasty resembled road kill and rice pudding which I'm sorry to say my Mom makes better with fewer ingredients. Some members of our party who dine fine regularly were so put off by presentations they just wouldn't eat certain dishes. We opted in for the wine pairing, our server while genial made it clear he didn't read the flash cards from the sommelier if there is one. He didn't know much about the wine he was pouring other than where it's from, what color it is and how it should taste. Some of the wines were gold and some straight funk. Overall for a one star id say it was interesting but underwhelming and we are not likely to return.

Yelp
another great of example of Michelin handing out stars left and right. concept is fine I guess. 100% live fire cooking. As if we haven't heard of that before (saison, angler, most high end restaurants grill over the fire) I get that they want it to be unique in that they cook everything from it, but the problem is that whoever is cooking has no idea how to cook certain things. For example, I got bread that was burnt on one side and lukewarm on the other. literally every course was mid. And the service followed suit. apparently the chef owner was a former sous chef or whatever at mister juis lol. perhaps if he hired a chef with some chops ,perhaps the food would be better. very pricey for what it is.

Yelp
Ositos just opened and you should give them a try. Super friendly place designed around communal dining. So while covid continues to put dampers on communal anything, they do a good job at spacing and social distancing to keep us all safe. We went on one of the opening evenings to enjoy the game bird menu. Pheasant and duck were prominent and not in ways you might have ever imagined. Sure, there was the duck leg and pheasant sausages among the 10+ dishes, but what i really remember was the duck pate that was out of this world! Another stand out was the bird and mushroom consommé served with the rye toast topped with fig current and truffle. Delicious!!! Deserts were interesting including nettle shaved ice to start. Aside from all the imaginative dishes the other item that really stands out was the wine pairing. I really recommend the reserve. It included some really nice wines that made the meal a true pleasure. Take a look at the menu and give them a try. And if you go in winter, dress warm as its a large cool space. Enjoy!!!

Yelp
Wonderful staff and setting for the last meal of 2022. Festivities started off at Lilliana's with starters and drinks next door. Main dining room is an intimate setting for 24 at a communal table, where delectable morsels of food kept appearing. Many dishes were Asian inspired and quite a few made it to my most memorable bites for the year, such as the matsutake as a dessert, the chanterelle roll and liver bite of the Seven Ducks A-Pekin course. Chef Stowaway was super friendly, at times serving and explaining the dishes being presented and even posed for photos with us. Service was impeccable -- napkins were folded immediately once someone left their seat and plates were always served simultaneously as you would expect in a Michelin starred restaurant. Take home gift for the night was a little jar of Bloody Mary for New Year's Day. Would definitely return.

Yelp
We came to Osito to celebrate my husband's birthday. We expected to have a nice evening out without kids. We ordered the tasting menu, wine pairing, and caviar. The food was not memorable due to the service being nothing short of a nightmare. The staff and chef's blatant disregard for basic courtesy and decency made it clear that customer satisfaction is at the bottom of their priority list. In the middle of our dinner they asked if we could move to the couch in the corner of the room. Due to the price point of this restaurant, we were taken aback. Maybe there was a reason for this? Maybe it's part of the experience? No, it was to make room for the next diners. Their priority is to churn out diners with no shame. We had booked one of the earlier reservations (6pm). We made it a point to show up on time (we showed up 15 minutes early). It is on the restaurant to time the food preparation/presentation and reservations accordingly, not on us to move seats and accommodate their mistakes. The icing on the cake, or lack thereof, is that there was no acknowledgement of my husband's birthday. No printed menu with explanation of the ingredients, no birthday candle, no take home gift. We have dined at many Michelin starred restaurants and this is the norm. We've also dined at non-Michelin restaurants and have been met with far superior service. Other guests were looking at us wondering what we did wrong to be kicked out of our table. Their faces had the worried look of, "I hope we don't make a mistake and get kicked out ourselves." We were also one of minorities dining there at that time. We've emailed the restaurant asking for an explanation, and they have yet to respond. Please do not dine here. I would 100% not recommend. With such contemptible treatment of customers, it's a wonder they're still in business.

Yelp
I was treated to a tasting menu meal with wine pairing by my lovely wife. This was the best meal of my life. The service was beyond compare. The wine pairings were truly impeccable and amazing. The food was simply superb and delicious. Chef presented each course with brief explanations and it was truly an experience to be remembered. Do not hesitate. This is a true gem and I recommend it without reservation.

Yelp
An intriguing concept that falls flat on its face. I went to the grillin' and chillin' event to test the waters before spending the big bucks they demand when dining for dinner. WOW what a total let down. The food was as basic (chicken and sausage only) as it gets and prepared similar to that of an amateur cook. I expected such a basic spread of food to be prepared correctly, but it was not. Food was undercooked and had no resemblance of "grilled" good at all. More like steamed leftovers. Other patrons there seemed to be pretty let down by what they were offering, across the board. A few couples around us left pretty soon after eating, looking upset. And, it was expensive to boot! Felt like a cash grab for a business that is failing. I'll be shocked if this place stays in business.

Yelp
Totally agree with the review on 1/10/23 by Betty, I also left the restaurant feeling cheated and disappointed. The food was underwhelming, portion was extremely small that I had to go get ramen afterwards. I am used to eating at Michelin-star restaurant so I have no issue with the price. What I do have issue is restaurant such as Osito who is greedy. They charge a high price, giving petty portion sized food and are ok with customers leaving disappointed and they can make a high margin.

Yelp
Great food in a warm and cozy environment! Went for their Mediterranean night, and Loved their fresh flatbread, grilled salmon and accoutrements. My absolute favorite was the baklava dessert which was so so yummilicious!! I could have had seconds and thirds of these delicious, nutty and not too sweet succulent squares without any hint of remorse as they were just that good! I look forward to visiting Osito again soon!

Yelp
This was my first tasting menu experience and it did not disappoint. From the moment you enter the building you feel like the most important person in the world. Our party was humble in comparison to the other two there but that did not affect the service or our experience in the least. We went for the March Ocean and Orchard menu. The flavors were on point. The dishes came out in a synchronized choreography that felt extra special. You could see the orchestration of the dinner service which just helped punctuate to delicious flavors of the food. Each course was a beautiful balance of notes. You could feel the intentionality in each item. And the depth of knowledge of each dish by the server made you that intentionality even more. Chef Seth visited each party (there were 3) for different courses, placing and explaining the dish as he did so. That extra touch and his willingness to answer quick questions about the course made the experience that much more cozy. The ambience was finely tuned. A live fire situation requires a very active hood, but you could not hear it and no smoke entered the dining area from the very open kitchen. The music was well paired to the meal and played at the perfect volume to appreciate the song choices and converse easily across the table about it. The geoduck two ways was a revelation. I loved the saltiness of the olive on the second treatment paired with the burnt orange. The crab and chicken consommé paired with humble "bread and butter" snack elevated by caviar let me wanting more. The depth of the broth was delightful. The Steelhead trout was delicately cooked with indirect heat in a little leaf pouch and served with a yummy almond sauce which was poured over the fish for us at the table. This experience is the best I've experienced so far this year. I felt very taken care of. All my questions were answered and considerate accommodations were made for my companion who got non-alcoholic alternatives and suggestions throughout the meal. There is a take home bag at the end with a nightcap. Home brewed gin and dessert bite. My companion was proactively given a clearly marked nonalcoholic seedlip alternative. The deconstructed carrot cake course had me making exclamations even hours later. The whole experience was fantastic. The menu refreshes about every other month, so it's not possible to get what I had anymore. But there is no doubt that whatever is being served with have intentionality and genius delicately blended with smoke and flame. Chef Seth and company know what they're doing and how to make you feel like queen for a day. It's a great milestone date option (and at that price point) or a "treat yourself" delight. (Or VC situation) The bar side Liliana's (next door) has some yummy mainstay options and delicious drinks. It's a kinder price point and from the same kitchen (with different options). Highly recommend this spot. 10/10 for food, ambience and service. Decently located too. Have fun!

Yelp
I come here more for the ambience than food. I can tell they try hard to come up with seasonal distinctive dishes however nothing really stood out for me. Drinks are good and strong but they are light pours. Desserts are decent but small. Service was decent but not outstanding. Nothing really blew me away for the price they're charging. They also add 20% equitable compensation to your bill to pay their employees fairly.

Yelp
TLDR: Underwhelming, disappointing, and way overpriced. Cool concept, poor execution. This is definitely the most mediocre "Michelin" restaurant I've had to date (I've pretty much dined at all in Bay Area). For similar price, go somewhere else more reliable like Saison. The 4 of us came here to celebrate a birthday and the bill came out to be ~$2300 which is ridiculous for a non Michelin restaurant (it wasn't yet when we dined there) especially one where no dish was memorable. The caviar added as a supplement was not good caviar, but cheap caviar. The concept of the restaurant is wood fire / smoke yet we didn't taste any of that. Furthermore, there was an egg dish that was supposed to have smoke coming out. I saw them lighting another party's eggs on fire for the smoke, but not ours. I guess they forgot to smoke ours? Just tasted like normal eggs. If you have a vision that all the food will be smoky or smoking, you'll be v disappointed. No bread??? We kept eyeing a beautiful loaf of bread sitting in the kitchen thinking that it's going to be one of the courses. Then we later found out that loaf was actually for the restaurant next door and the actual $2300 meal did not include bread. How outrageous is that? They could have just given us that bread. We left the restaurant unsatisfied and hungry (almost scammed). Hopped over to the restaurant next door to eat that bread and more food.. which was actually more satisfying than Osito.

Yelp
I've eaten here 3 times. And each time, it was memorable. The attention to detail and the hospitality of the staff is recognized (at least by me). Everytime my wife and I dined here, it truly is like seeing friends and talking about what's new in our lives, while enjoying a themed dinner with an awesome story. Each dish lets us get to know the restaurant better - theming meals with their story is always great. Food at this level is always excellent and i always leave satisfied. (Another disclaimer- I can eat a whole Costco sized pizza) The non alcoholic drinks are awesome as well as their cocktails. I bring this up because if I am drinking multiple cocktails for a meal, I'll break with a non-alcoholic mocktail so I don't get too sauced. Seth Stowaway is quite a guy too. Great personality with a big heart. I truly wish all the best for this up and coming restaurant and will continue to support by eating my way through the menu.

Yelp
Came here this past weekend for their "Game bird " themed tasting. We also got the regular and reserve wine pairings to get a wider range of things to try. The space itself is beautiful with natural wood surfaces and surrounded with greenery. Very easy on the eyes and def a place to bring a date to impress. They have a bar next door, where we grabbed a drink and brought into the dining room once our seats were ready. Staff takes all the Covid precautions and we were seated verrrry distant from the other couples (8 diners total the night we went) The food itself is a creative exploration of the theme, and I imagine all the other themes to be similar. We started with some amuse bouche of game bird bites, and the meal began with grouse tartar, grouse sausage, and a variety of roasted duck dishes. The meal closed with some pear granita (which I loved), and a persimmon cream dish. The wine tasting was varied and surprising as it was a mix of red and whites throughout the meal. I got to try a number of wines i hadn't heard of and enjoyed the variety with our two tastings. I'd recommend checking this place out if only to grab a drink at the bar next door, or for the full dining experience.

Yelp
I want to start off by saying that the restaurant itself had a really cool ambiance. The service was also excellent. With that said, the food here was either a hit or miss. I think it's cool that they try to really represent the theme/ingredient for every course, but I feel like that also brought some really bold flavors that was hard to get on board with. One course that stood out to me was the charcuterie board. This came out after the entree and it was a mix of small items (made up of seafood/meat) that was so intense in flavors, that I had trouble finishing. I'm all for trying new things even when bold but this course really made it difficult to continue forward with the courses that came after. There was also a really long wait time going to an entree course that cut the pacing in an awkward way where I slowly lost my appetite. Overall, for how much you pay and how little you get in quantity along with the some disappointing courses, I rate this a 3/5. I'm certain that perhaps different menus in different time of the year might be better but the fish/seafood menu was not it for me (at least the last half of the course).

Yelp
Innovative, unique, fantastic service, but something was missing. Osito was a great experience, but just that. While the food was good, only a few courses stood out, the first with the Mai take and the second with the cure rockfish. The beef cheek was good, but nothing stood up and said I must have this again. Cooking only on an open fire at such high quality is an accomplishment in itself. And kudos to the chef and his team. Fantastic attentive service and and very personable as well. The communal table was fun, met some nice people and exchanged recommendations on restaurants, but no dish stood out and demanded a second visit. That is the real judge of a restaurant, if you are already planning to return for a specific dish that was just that good. Will I return? Maybe, if they have something completely different, and, with all the fire, more meat! Niku has a similar open fire cooking method and I always return, drawn in by the fantastic dishes. Not to deny the achievement here, it is good, worth the price point? It didn't shout at me you must come back. Give it a try, but I'll lurk about looking for a the next menu.

Yelp
This review is meant mostly to provide insight as to what to expect, as our experience differed from what we expected which may have resulted in some disappointment. We thought a 'live fire' tasting menu would feature fire-focused dishes, but it really just means they don't use microwaves or conventional ovens. The menu was very veggie and sauce focused. Very little meat, and very small bites. You may leave hungry. Didn't feel like there was a main course. The food is beautifully prepared and has many unique combinations. My friend and I thought most of the dishes were a little bland - missing a little something that would have brought out more flavor. Also, the wines focused on natural preparation and unique regions - a few of the explanations explained how the winemakers went in different directions from those of nearby Burgundy or Napa as examples. That will be appreciated by some, but we may have left more of the wine on the table than we drank. The service was generally very solid, although the pacing suffered similar to many other tasting menus, where the initial courses come out almost too quickly then the main dishes come out too slowly. The communal table was OK, although it did not feel very communal. Most of the servers end up resting on your shoulders while trying to constantly clear the table, which was a little distracting. The chef and owner seemed nice and was involved with the guests. The dining room was all flat, hard surfaces, so it was very loud despite a small number of diners. Overall, not a bad experience but not really for us. If you like focusing on new things and enjoy variety you might love this place.

Milk Punch Ray M.

Yelp
Milk Punch Review In the Clear #3: rum, chaparral, lime, honey, herbs I feel ashamed of myself. There were to prior iterations and I'm just starting on the 3rd. The fomo is real. This is a great cocktail. There's a slight licorice flavor to it, but just very well rounded and smooth. They've been open since December and are already on their 3rd variation. A milk punch will definitely remain a staple of their menu. But their other cocktails are just as well crafted. They have a sister restaurant next door that's a little more casual called Liliana. Bonus review on restaurant: I really like the tasting menu. A lot of good variety on flavors and textures. I really liked the ambiance too from the wood fire grills in the background to the communal table.
