"Acoustically excellent, this venue is a bar and restaurant with a live music room upstairs. Great beers on draught and a decent menu — it's good for weekend afternoon hangs, Friday night fun and for gigs on pretty much any night of the week (check their events schedule to see what's coming up). Hackney has a lot of history, but this new-ish venue is super cool and a great addition to the neighbourhood." - MultiAdaptor

The Oslo is a great little music venue. While the upstairs can be very packed it is nice that you can access the stage area from the back. The staff is very friendly and we like the choice of cocktails on offer. 2 for £14. 🍹🍸 I was lucky to see two very different great acts at Oslo in the last couple of months. The sound was great each time.

I had a really great time here. We came here for a gig which is in the upstairs room, downstairs there's a long bar with quite a few staff members so no long waits for a beer, there's a pizza kitchen which we didn't try but the pizzas looked really good, the upstairs gig space was bigger than I expected and the sound was good.

If there was a category for doormen (greeters/bouncers/etc.) there would be another 5🌟. Oslo next to the station is luverly. Great pub in the shabby chic warehouse style. A cavern of a place offering a range of keg beers, sorry real alers. Pizza for those on solids. A great place with lots of gems along the way, witness the fold out stools at the end of the bar. I enjoyed my pint of Estrella and hope to visit again.

Oslo is a place you need to check out when in London Went for a Brant Bjork gig, stayed for drinks after. The vibe was very pleasant, staff was attentive and friendly (including security) and the drinks are tasty and well executed. Service was fast despite the place being almost full. The bonus was that I met some amazingly interesting funny people

Great small venue with a very comfortable bar downstairs (ground floor). Easy to get to / from the tube. The concert venue is upstairs

Google
Excellent and interesting venue. Great sound system upstairs, if a bit too loud. Disappointing rule about 't shirts must stay on' did kill the vibes which we found rather strange as this was the first time we've had this issue. It wouldn't be such a big issue although we were there for a high energy night in the upstairs club which was uncomfortably hot and humid. Having said that, the bouncers and other staff were still very friendly and accommodating

Google
Small pub & music venue. Very convenient for Hackney Central and Hackney Downs stations (It's right next to the entry to Central & a walkway links that to Downs). Downstairs was a nice comfortable pub, and the music room is upstairs (no accessible access that I could see). There's a small bar upstairs in the venue for beers, along with the usual merch area. Sound mix was good. Lighting (like a lot of smaller venues) could possibly be tweaked so that it's easier to see members of bands on the opposite side of the stage, but still a very good vibe.

Been there couple of times and thought let me pass my reviews for the last night visit. Always Superb venue and amazing electric atmosphere. My train was late so thought let me have a drink, the best way to wait 😜. Even it was busy but still good service. Bouncers on door & very nice vibes on floor. Even though drinks were not so good but who cares when you having good time.

Yelp
I suspect Oslo is a very cool place to hang out given what I saw of the scenery as I passed through the first floor. However, I was at Oslo for some metal concert on the second floor, thus I didn't get to enjoy the true ambiance of this venue. The second floor was a good space for a small concert. The stage was a decent size, there's a bar up there, and the dance floor is spacious. Good visit, would go again to see what the first floor scene is about.

Yelp
The best plantains I've ever had. Beef bowl was fantastic. Filling but doesn't leave you stuffed. Highly recommend.

Yelp
A good selection of craft beers decent food offerings and a nice vibe close to the station. What more could you ask for accomodation nearby? Then perhaps well check out .kip my current favourite London abode a stones throw away. I return to the Oslo as the service is good the beer is awesome and it's the only place I have found in the Hackney Central area that meets my need, that is not to say that it's any port in a storm. I have mostly come for the later bar but the food may be on my radar soon. Regular guest ales and local brews such such as beaver town make me keep coming back.

Yelp
I came to a great gig here a couple of years ago but came back for what I thought would be a chill dinner before a gig at Paper Dress Vintage. Man does the service suck in the dining room. I was seated at 7pm, told that I would have to give up my table by 8pm. No problem. I order a chicken burger and a beer after 15 minutes of waiting. At 7:50pm I'm told my order never went through and of course because it was almost 8pm, I was moved to a high table that I had to share with a bunch of randos. Not nearly as chill. Who knows when I'll get my beer, wondering if I'll ever get my food. The guy across from me just got his beer. Maybe there's hope, but probably won't come back here. Update: got a beer but it was a skunked lager, not the Gamma Ray IPA I ordered 45 minutes ago.

Yelp
Called in for a Sunday roast and was able to get a booking easily, however once we got there we waited at the front for a good ten minutes before anyone bothered to recognize we had walked in even though several employees saw a line forming at the front. I guess if the hostess disappears no one else is able to assist here! But that was the only disappointment...I came in search of a Sunday roast and they served up a nice one! My beef was slightly over cooked but props for good presentation and flavors otherwise! The other brunch items ordered by others in the restaurant looked quite good so might have to come back and try some of those!

Yelp
Fairly quiet for a Wednesday night, after I had heard this place can get quite busy. Oslo has a lovely atmosphere, dim lighting which creates an intimate setting. I had ordered the Oslo burger, which was truly a delicious burger. I rarely order my burger meat medium unless I feel comfortable about the kitchen. Whilst my meat was slightly underdone, it was fresh and tasted delicious. The fries were well cooked, food presented well. With a cider to go along with my meal total cost was £16- a decent price for the food I ordered.

Yelp
Me and my friend decided to visit Oslo on a Wednesday night to get some grub. , ordered salmon , avocado and potato salad and an hour later I was absolutely sick to my stomach . I got food poisoned which left me in absolute rag order for 24 hours ! I was sick , shaking , hot / cold flushes and feeling absolutely terrible ! I Couldn't get up off my bed and was actually thinking to go to the hospital - that's how bad it was ! Personally I wouldn't recommend to eat there !

Yelp
I'm disappointed to have to write this review. Since Oslo opened, I've had quite a few friends who have had bad experiences there...most of them stemming from bad service and rude staff. I, however, had always had a decent time (although...had only been there for early evenings and for live music gigs)...and have defended the place. Unfortunately, tonight my opinion has changed. A friend and I were going to meet for one drink before we called it a night...Oslo was on the way home for both of us, so we decided to go there. However on Saturday nights, they charge £5 in after 11pm(which I was unaware of). I arrived at 11:08, and my friend had arrived before 11 and had already gone it. As were only staying for one drink, I didn't really fancy paying to go in...however, my friend's phone had died. So, I politely asked the bouncer if I could leave my purse/phone/etc as collateral and run in and get my friend...and he said no. When I asked why not, he became very rude, and said there was no way I could go in without paying. I said I wanted to ask the girl taking the cash, and he got very condescending, told me he made the rules (although he backtracked on that statement later, saying management made the rules and he just took orders)....and it was just too bad if I didn't want to pay in. I understand that bouncers have to deal with a lot of drunk, idiotic people..however, at this point it was only 11pm, there was hardly a line, no idiots around...and I was being perfectly polite, pleasant, and sober....yet he immediately was "mr big man" (and he was big), and would hardly give me a chance to ask a question. As I said, I've had other friends who have had bad experiences, especially with the bouncers....with one going so far as picking up my friend(a small, non-threatening girl) and dropping her on her knees(she reported her treatment to the police). After all that....if I'm honest, I can't say I'll never go to Oslo again...as there are often good gigs there. However, I will only ever go there again to see a band. I'll never again suggest it as a bar to just get a drink at, or as a place to go dancing or just hang out. Plus I've always thought the drinks were overpriced and the food not that good.

Yelp
It's weird - when I told people I'm about to go to Oslo Hackney the reaction was: "Nooo don't go there, the music is horrible!". So I expected a club with, well horrible music! But it's so much more than just a club. In fact, if you enter the place there isn't even a club in sight. The club is on the upper floor and what's on the ground level is just a very stylish and awesome-looking bar with low/well dimmed lighting and high ceiling. Just a really great and kind of romantic atmosphere all together. Food looked delicious, served on wooden plates, but since it was drink o'clock and not food o'clock I had a descent Gin Tonic (couldn't choose the Tonic Water and he couldn't even tell me which one he's using, which is always a minus point for me personally). But all in all, a great and positive surprise to what people told me, uh and a shout out to the nicest security guy I've ever dealt with - you are hilarious!

Yelp
Had a nice meal here tonight, I got the FRA FELTET (V) A VEGETARIAN SHARING BOARD WITH A GOATS CHEESE, BEETROOT AND POMEGRANATE SALAD, BROCCOLINI, WILD MUSHROOMS AND A CHARRED AUBERGINE DIP. The pomegranate arils, spinach and beetroot was a tasty blend with the broccolini but I enjoyed the 'shrooms even more. And even MORE, the aubergine dip with a slight kick and rich smokey flavour. The plate comes with toasted, small bread pieces and a delicious small pot of olive oil. They also recently got take-away boxes so kudos. My husband said his Marrakesh burger was OK. We both dug the sweet potato fries; crispy with a slight kick.

Yelp
Positives: Good service Nice venue Great for shows Negatives: Food was pretty bad. Overcooked and tepid lamb in my burger. Potato salad had hard undercooked potatoes.

Yelp
I was at Oslo for a concert recently and had a tremendous time! The room sounded great; the staff was courteous and helpful. The patrons were very fun. We all had a great time listening to the music and seeing all the odd Satan drawings on the walls.

Yelp
Love this place. It's a great balance of trendy and historic, exciting night life and cozy and comfy. The lighting designer should get a freaking award for the job they did. Very creative and conducive to the feel of each room. The bar is what's left of the old train station. It's a great building and they've done a nice job of revitalizing it. I really like how the seating area is all glass along the pathway off the overground. Great place for people watching (and super convenient as it's there just when you get off the station). Food wise it's really fun. I loved the the pulled pork sliders. Some of the best I've had in London so far. The peanut butter cheesecake was interesting, but needs to be just a tad sweeter, good consistency though. The beer and wine selection is stellar and they have their own "house" brew that's very affordable and tasty. The overall place is separated into 2.5 zones. The ground floor is that blend of chill bar that can easily be a nice hang out during the day where you get a nice meal with friends or a great drink later on. The upper area is the stage and a side bar. The stage area has its own bar, is decent size for a good band, but by no means too big. Very intimate, and there's a bar just off the floor. The side area is its own bar separate from the stage and a nice pre area or a oasis from the dance floor. Kind of dive looking which is perfect. Overall Can't recommend this place enough.

Yelp
I don't get it. When my friend asked me to meet her at Oslo, a new Scandi bar, I was all up for some Nordic delights. Well no. It's a beautiful location, right under the train station, it has gorgeous brickwork, glass and high ceilings. Very stylish. Not very Scandinavian. Though they apparently claim to 'draw on a Nordic aesthetic'. Maybe go back to the drawing board, lads. I started to suspect that Oslo was just a nice name when I checked out the menu: sliders, poutine and chicken baskets. All things that sound devlishly tasty but not very Nordic. Even though I was headed to dinner, I wanted to throw down a fiver for some oxtail poutine. You need to go here and try out the food. The service is a bit hit or miss. Mostly miss. When I asked to see a drinks menu, the waitress pointed at the food menu. I said 'well, no, that's food, isn't it?' She pointed again. What a fun game. Still not drinks. Basically they don't have one, and they don't have cocktails. Just wine and beer. Now you know this information, you can go and enjoy yourself with no confusion.

Yelp
It's a bit difficult to review this place as it's part-bar part-restaurant part-music venue -- but I'm focusing on the food here. In short, the food all sounded interesting but it just wasn't that good. The person I was with got a burger that was overcooked (always so disappointing) and I had a the bream, but it was pretty bland. We also shared a soup starter that sounded awesome but just... wasn't. The service wasn't great either. That being said, as a bar and venue, it is a really great space and would definitely go back! Just not to eat.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, fun people and clean drinks! What more to ask from a bar? There is always an event happening at the upstairs bar reception on saturday nights!

Yelp
Great Soul music (The Tams!), great Thursday drink special 2 for £9, great atmosphere, beguiling bartender, club to dance it out to upstairs, what else do you want?

Yelp
Now i thought Shoreditch was the queen of Hipsters and all things cool, but take a trip to Hackney Central and Oslo is a 0 minute walk from the station, being right on your doorstep! This venue really has changed my mind about Hackney, having met so many interesting individuals that night; wether they were there for the food, the music or a particular fashion show ;) i felt truly at home being surrounded with friendly and like-minded people; which is a step away from the somewhat snooty socialites of East London. As you first come in, you will see the downstairs bar/ restaurant with an almost Skandinavian feel, with plenty of pine seating, benches and furnishings; which is built in an old railway warehouse with old brick walls and a high ceiling aesthetic. If you go upstairs you will find the simple club layout, where they have some amazing DJ's and bands, in which i got to poke my head in on Temper Traps sound test session- Amazing! A few particular members of staff who were extremely friendly to work with was Chloe and Tom from the Events Management team and the lighting technician who is a sound guy who knows what he's was doing. Again, i can't give this full stars because not only I, but many others made complaints about the doorman's rude awakening. From the beginning to the end these guys were disrespectful for no reason, seeming like they were purposely trying to make mine and many others lives hard; when in fact all we were being was friendly, calm and yet excited for the night. Management team, have a word or get these guys a tampon please! Despite this, for someone that is well into their music, I will definitely be coming back to see some great bands and headliners. Just don't look the doormen in the eye!

Yelp
Lucky to have this place as my local. Banging tunes on the weekend and good size space. Good looking crowd there too!

Yelp
Brilliant selection of beer, staff happy to give you tasters to help you choose. Food looks fantastic and there is a burger challenge if you fancy your chances! Great space, very social, loads of live gigs. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Had lunch here yesterday - great venue- very stylish! Staff were very attentive and accommodating. Had the Oslo burger with fries which was delicious- but expensive at £11.50. Would go again but probably just for drinks- there are places with better value food out there.

Ele H.

Yelp
This review is for the dance club only. I have been to this club three times. I think it is a decent club to go to on the weekend with a group of friends. The music is a mix of electro, 80s, 90s and pop music, depending on the night you go. Some of the nights there are guest DJs. Cover was 5 GBP all three times I went. Overall: a lot of young hipster people, quite full on weekend nights, reasonably priced drinks, great for dancing, easily accessed by bus. Dress code: hipster cool Note: this place does not look Norwegian / Scandinavian...

Jonathan o.

Yelp
Nice décor........... That's about it. Food order was incorrect and late. Refused to accept card payments at 23:45. Welcome back to the 1990's Hackney!

Yelp
Overpriced, over crowded, and really unpleasant experience. Bad food, that turned my stomach. My friend's wine tasted like vinegar. We waited almost 20 minutes for a waiter to approach our table. I asked what was in the dressing of a salad I ordered with my burger, I have allergies and explained this was the reason. I was told they couldn't tell me so I asked for the dressing to be left off the salad. The food was delivered to the table (after waiting nearly an hour) drowning in dressing, completely soaked, so I asked for a replacement be sent this time without the dressing like I'd originally ordered. It's salad, I wasn't asking for a whole meal to be cooked from scratch but I was told that I had to pay for a replacement and the salad soaked in dressing that I couldn't eat! I said I wasn't going to pay for something I couldn't eat, and that I'd been upfront about allergies and had asked about the dressing. The waiter stormed off. I figured that was the end of it and I figured it wasn't a big deal. But nope, another waiter approach us and asked what the problem was. I explained the situation, as did the 3 other people I was with. I also explained that I understood they were busy, so if they don't want to replace the salad I got it but that I shouldn't be charged for it. I was told I was being difficult. Yes, according to staff at Oslo, asking for dressing to not be added is being difficult, and asking to not be charged for something that wasn't properly prepared or eaten is being difficult. We paid the full cost of the meals including the gross salad, and tipped, because we're nice like that. When I asked to speak to the manager, I was told they "weren't available", with a smirk. Silly us, we already paid for our food! Never going back here again! If you want good food, and a great experience and atmosphere there's plenty in Hackney, Oslo isn't one of them. This isn't the first time I've had problems eating here, I should have learned my lesson!
