London’s Best Jerk Chicken | Where to Find Jamaican Jerk in London | Eater London

"For anyone craving jerk in the wee hours of the day, when most others are tucked away in bed, Ossie’s still cranks out the goods. The £3 ‘chicken and chips’ is a favourite for worldly youngsters seeking an alternative to the scores of chicken shops lining the local high street, a takeaway institution in the area." - Riaz Phillips

Just don’t get the bad reviews. We’ve been going Ossies for years and live out of town. We come up specially for it. The goat was sublime. So much food in the container. They aren’t shy with packing it out. We sat in to eat. Found the staff friendly. Happy to give me more gravy to take my leftovers home. As just could not eat it all. My husband had oxtail with rice n peas and was very happy with it. They now take card payment as well as cash which is handy. We had some lovely chats with other customers. We’ve never had a bad food from here. If we had. We sure wouldn’t be going back. I believe you treat people how you would like to be treated yourself a bit of respect and politeness goes a long way. Remember that’s some long shifts the staff are working there !!

I love ossie’s, I’m here at least once or twice a week. I mostly have rice and meat dishes- because I’m a gym girl, that’s all I need. Jerk pork and pepper steak with rice and peas are my favs, as well as the curry goat/chicken. I get good service and I eat at the store most times because I like my food piping hot and heated once. The portions are huge too. Me I love a huge portion of food. I really enjoy the food from here.

Place came through in a pinch, earning it another star. Street side take joint joint. Jerk taste had some good heat to it. Rice and peas were ok, a tad dry, but it was late at night so that is forgiveable. Though not a warm and friendly reception, she was nice and helpful enough. Glad it was a good option for some weary travelers.

I'm normally a "why would I spend £14 on a large portion of chicken when I can cook buy a whole large chicken myself for half that?" sort of person. I even packed my own Jollof rice when visiting London from Scotland. I just needed some extra protein for my rice, and so I walked into Ossie's. Long story short, I just bought my third large jerk chicken in 3 days, this one to freeze overnight and take back to Scotland and continue to savour the exquisitely tender, juicy, tasty, spicy chicken. The beef patties remind me of Mr Bigg's meatpies from my childhood. Tasty, meaty, crunchy. And keeps well in the fridge or freezer. This is how addictions begin, people. Because now I'm sure I MUST get me some Ossie's anytime I'm in London.

I have been coming to this place for years, today I was shocked and disappointed first with the food & then the attitude of the so called manager. I order the same thing every time which is large plain rice & pepper steak with mutton gravy & rice & peas with pepper steak with mutton gravy. Today the food taste bad, completely off it was poor, I was shocked so I called to talk to them about it… OMG the disrespect was shocking. I asked to speak to a manger, the first lady said she was the manger she was nice & respectful I was talking to her & explaining & then some ghetto, disrespectful, zero knowledge or understanding of customer service came & took the phone when we was in mid conversation & whats my problem, I explained then she responded with maybe you never brushed your teeth that’s why it taste bad DWL (I just have to laugh). I’m not sure what kind of back street customers services this is or poor food quality that they provided today (maybe they were having a bad day) either way her attitude is poor & if that’s the level of customer received when a customer gives feedback, I will never be stepping foot back in that shop NEVER.

Been smashing Ossies for years now. Best Caribbean food I’ve had and I’ve had a lot! So nice I travel regularly from east London. Big portions and the staff are always very accommodating and also very friendly. Oxtail and curry goat are very nice, but my favourite by far is the Peppered steak. Oh and the Coleslaw is to die for.

The real deal. Not imitated. I've read a lot of reviews complaining about the customer service. Fair, but you don't go to a Jamaican takeaway looking for customer service. I think all Jamaicans failed that subject on their cooking course but excelled everywhere else. The foods amazing, the jerk chicken was cooked to perfection and the chicken Pattie was sublime. Service could be sped up but it's worth the wait. This is now My go to 24hr takeaway on Walworth road after going to bagel king for so many years. Also cheap. The jerk in cocoa bread with coleslaw was just 3pound. Recommended.

Yelp
As I sit here Yelping, I'm also drinking a concoction called "Guinness Punch." If you've ever wanted to introduce Guinness to a small child, this is probably the way because it tastes like candy with an alcohol content. When I was in Jerk Chicken I asked for some recs of what I should order. The woman at the counter seemed confused as to why I would ask, so I went ahead and ordered some jerk chicken. Not disappointed, it was spicy and moist and pretty good. Wouldn't recommend making a trip from across town to come here, but if you're in the area give it a go. Would try one of the punches marked with a hand-written label. Am very curious as to what the other ones are, but I can only assume they are magical.

Yelp
I ate a curry chicken with rice and beans, while my beau enjoyed the jerk chicken wings with rice and beans. We both loved our meal choices and found the spice and flavor to be just right. I won't call myself an expert on all things jerk chicken, but I know a good tasting meal when I have one! This restaurant deserves some praise and attention! The people working there are courteous, friendly, helpful, and know their food! The place is also clean, inviting, and spacious. There is room beyond the window bar and ordering area to eat. You also might spot some famous faces inside. While eating their last Wednesday I spotted two former actors from the hit show The Bill.

Yelp
Ossie's is one of two Caribbean takeaways within a short stretch of the Walworth Road. I have visited a number of times, and while it never seems busy there is a steady stream of customers through the door. Food is the usual Carribean fare - jerked meats, curries and patties, served with rice n pea. The jerk sauce is fiery, the curries are tasty and the service is fun and lively. One word of caution (and it may be me being a cheapskate) is that prices are relatively high for a takeaway. Typical prices are around £5.50 for a meal, although there is a good value deal of the day and bargainous lunchtime specials to be had.

Yelp
The Oxtail, rice and peas and coleslaw is very tasty. 5 Star The only thing that lets this place down is the rude customer service. It has been a while since I experienced such awful customer service. Apart from mumble-ling and making no eye contact. She was on the mobile phone talking whilst trying to deal with me. I would have walked out if I was not ordering for someone else as well. Food 5* Customer Service 1*

Yelp
Rude girl feisty and full of attitude attempted to serve me on weekend around 11:00pm. She had not common sense or sense of customer service at all, gave attitude when I wanted clarification on the ingredients in the soup and went as far as to say" she not sure if the soup had spicy but did I want to buy it. Really who would pay for food that might continue spice. Really disappointed as I have previously brought food from their and the service was excellent. Told her she needed to fix up and I walked out. Management need to give a good talking to or have her sour face and attitude behind the scenes & not at front desk.
