San Francisco’s Best Steakhouses | Eater SF

"If you’re looking for a solid steakhouse with Art Deco style, Osso is the place to go. There are the usual suspects on the menu, such as Angus filet mignon and strip steaks, but serious steak enthusiasts may want to go all out with the restaurant’s akaushi beef selections, such as flat iron steak and ribeye (also available dry-aged). Oenophiles will also want to take a look at the wine list, as the restaurant received an Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator in 2024." - Dianne de Guzman

Food and service was awesome! We got the Tomahawk and it was cooked to perfection. We also had the crabcakes, lobster tail and sides. The apple tart dessert was amazing as well. Our waiter was very attentive and very cool to talk to!

Perfectly flavored meat, tender and juicy. Loved it. Sides were rich too. Carrots, Corns, Potatoes, all went very well with the meat.

Google
Lovely restaurant with an attractive and varied menu. We enjoyed friend asparagus as a starter, which we thought unusual but thoroughly enjoyed. Then we had a steak fries and a hamburger; both delicious and perfectly cooked. Great decor and atmosphere inside. Service as little erratic

Google
The filet mignon bone in, superb! The Caesar salad the original Caesar salad awesome! That cheese bread, is ridiculously good! A must! The atmosphere is perfect, Sat down and have a wonderful dinner before a show. We ate, didn’t rush, food came fast. A perfect spot for dinner and enjoy a wonderful meal!

After a day of driving through the mountains above Santa Cruz, I was hanging out for a burger. I was staying at the Fairmont, and just couldn’t bring myself to pay $34 for just the burger. 😳. So I walked two minutes to Osso and it was absolutely fantastic. The service was exceptional, the hamburger was great – as were the crabcakes. They did half bottles of wine for a reasonable price ($39 for a French GSM) and to top it all off their dirty martini used four pillars olive gin. What more could you want? Can’t recommend it highly enough – go there.

Came here for Father’s Day and arrived 15 minutes early. Was seated right away and already received immense hospitality by our waiter Richard. He made the experience great. All the food here was amazing from the petit filet mignon to the king salmon and even the steak stripes. All were made to perfection. The spinach side did have a little too much butter but other than that everything was great. Ended the night off with two desserts the New York cheesecake and the Chocolate Hazelnut cake. Both were amazing and the perfect sweetness

Google
This steakhouse is outstanding. The Dry-Aged Ribeye is phenomenal, but what really sets this place apart is the incredible, old-school service. The entire staff is attentive, friendly, and genuinely pleasant, which makes the dining experience feel truly special. My steak was cooked perfectly, and the sides—potatoes au gratin, asparagus, and appetizers—were all excellent. The whole evening was flawless. This is officially my new favorite steakhouse.

Date night with my husband could not be more perfect. The restaurant is not in plane sight so it felt like a private affair. My husband had the NY Strip and I had the bone in Ribeye with creaming spinach. We shared the mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese which were delicious. Key Lime tart and carrot cake rounded out the meal. The carrot cake is truly exceptional. If this restaurant was down the street from me I would be a regular. I highly recommend.

Yelp
Summary: Old school steakhouse with solid food and an art deco charm. Details: Located in the Gramercy Towers, conveniently next door to The Masonic. Once inside, it's a throwback to old San Francisco with black and white herring bone floors, red leather booths/chairs, and a bustling bar. The background music was mostly jazz but I think I heard some hiphop mixed in. The bathroom is outside the restaurant and down some stairs. They are used to people coming before shows and so know how to time your meal. For us, 100 mins was perfect. On to the food... Crab cakes are excellent. They come as four "hand formed" smaller cakes placed on top of a mildly spicy remoulade. Lots of crab, very little (if any) filler. Filet (8oz) was soft and buttery, as it should be. We asked for medium and it came just a bit less than that -- as most steakhouses will. If you're unsure what to get, this is a good choice. Bone-in Ribeye (20 oz) was good but didn't live up to their claim of "best steak house in SF." Next time, I'd try the akaushi dry aged instead. The chimichurri had a nice blend of flavors and complemented the ribeye well. The sautéed cremini mushrooms were outstanding. Meaty and very lightly spiced. The creamed spinach wasn't too creamy -- we enjoyed it but didn't really need it. Somehow the fries with aioli stole the show. Hot they were amazing but even when they cooled down they were delectable. There were several tempting desserts but we didn't have any room left. The wine list is extensive if you're getting a full bottle, but more limited if you just want it by the glass. There was only one choice for champagne by the glass and it was quite good. The servers were efficient if not a bit perfunctory. Every table was taken so I assume they were more than a little busy. Osso is a reliable choice when you're on Nob Hill.

Yelp
SF birthday weekend with my two best friends, first dinner was at Osso.... Pros: super friendly service. From the moment we arrived to the time we left, everyone we interacted with was great. The cheese bread was quite delicious, a nice combination of moist garlicky bread on the inside, piping hot crunchy cheesy bread on the outside (mmmmm!). The potatoes au gratin and the crab cake also had great flavor. For dessert we ordered the crunch cake, can't go wrong with the chocolate and hazelnut combination. Lastly, they gave us 3 glasses of champagne to celebrate our birthdays which was a nice touch! Cons: this is a steak house first and foremost and our dry age ribeye was one of our least favorite things about the meal (also the most expensive part too!) both friends thought the streak could use more seasoning (i.e. salt.) The bathroom, it's a little secluded. You take the elevator down and then it's straight ahead once the door opens. It was a little scary, especially if you make the trek solo! Given the ambience of Osso, I was expecting them to clean the table with the little blade, as they traditionally do at fine steakhouses. This wasn't done, so we had lots of little crumbs or pieces of food. The mess was totally on us, but it was something that I noticed as far as room for improvement. Oh, they also charge for regular bread ($5), it's an old timey steakhouse, bread should be complimentary! One friend said it was smart marketing- if you're going to pay for bread, may as well get the cheesy one that is $9 more! I don't know, bugs me when you're paying so much for a meal (our meal was over $300!) I feel it's very nickel and dimming... not cool. We did enjoy many aspects of our meal and experience, but because the steak was what we enjoyed least, my friends and I all felt "3" was the appropriate overall rating.

Yelp
My friends and I recently dined at Osso in San Francisco to celebrate a special occasion, but unfortunately it didn't live up to my expectations. With a ribeye steak priced around $90 with no sides included, I expected it to be exceptional quality. The steak was only okay, and the sides (mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, and creamed spinach) were very small portions and tasted just average. One of the most disappointing things was the service. Our waiter had an attitude and seemed disinterested in our party, which made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Despite already ordering two bottles of wine for the table, he attempted to upsell us on additional bottles, which felt pushy. Overall, for the price and quality, I expected a more upscale and satisfying experience. There are certainly better steakhouses in San Francisco that offer better food and service at a comparable, or even lower, price. I personally wouldn't recommend Osso, especially considering the many other great options in the city.

Yelp
Osso Steakhouse offers a look at Nob Hill dining that Sam Spade would recognize. I love the black and white herring bone floor, classic bar and black clad staff. The jazz background music adds to the vibe. A full bar and cocktails mixed up quickly and deliciously. The menu offers a choice of classics. Steaks, chops, grilled salmon and all the side dishes, salads/soups are expertly cooked and presented. One of my favorite places in San Francisco.

Yelp
The Yelp ratings had me skeptical. Highly underrated. Purchased tickets to a venue at the Masonic and didn't want to pay for parking twice so we chose this due to proximity but it didn't disappoint. Osso has thee most amazing arugula salad I've ever had and it was so filling, I'd go back just for that. The Branzino was chefs kiss! Bone-in filet and mushrooms were amazing. The service and atmosphere were great but it was early so I am not sure if it would have been different had it been later or busier. Definitely will be going back.

Yelp
10/10 ambiance, service, and food. The 24 oz. akaushi dry aged ribeye was the perfect portion to share for two people. The Mac & Cheese had a nice crust and flavor. The aioli with the French fries was delicious. I ordered a dirty vodka martini that had blue cheese olives and my boyfriend ordered a Red Bordeaux. Both great drinks. The service was excellent and friendly, our server Daniel was very nice. I indicated on the reservation we were celebrating a birthday, and the staff wished my boyfriend a happy birthday and provided a delicious crème brûlée. I highly recommend Osso. We will be back soon!

Yelp
Excellent service atmosphere and delicious steaks abound at this first-class Steakhouse. Start with their house cheese bread and/or appetizers to enjoy with your craft cocktail, then proceed to order your favorite cut of steak or a seafood selection. We had the bone in Filet and N.Y. steaks with pepper corn and chimichurri sauces, respectively. Both cooked to a perfect mr-med temp. The creamy mash potatoes and spinach were enjoyed as sides but would suggest the sautéed mushrooms over the too creamy spinach in the future. Many wine choices and price points are available from their award winning wine spectator list.We chose an approachable in price, but excellent 2019 cabernet from Caedano. Whatever you choose, you will always have an enjoyable evening to remember when you visit Osso. Cheers & Mangia

Yelp
Excellent meal and service! I loved the calamari and my lobster was delicious. My family enjoyed an amazing tomahawk cooked to perfection. The mashed potatoes and scalloped potatoes were delightful. The staff were wonderful. The drinks were yummy. Last, but definitely not least, the crème brûlée had the perfect balance of custard and caramelized topping. The coconut ice crème and chocolate cake were a hit too. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Yelp
Great burger, steak, and service. Love the vibes and atmosphere--very nice and the seats are plush. Juicy large steaks and I also love the burger. Best burger in the area IMO and reasonably-priced given how big it is. Multiple meals!

Yelp
Had a delicious dinner here with friends before attending a show next door at the The Masonic. Service was excellent and attentive. The décor is definitely classic steakhouse vibes. Our server provided some great recommendations and answered all of our questions. Do yourself a favor and order the cheese bread for your starter. You absolutely will not regret it. We all ordered fillets and then shared sautéed spinach, mushrooms and mashed potatoes for sides. They were all good, but the star was definitely the creamy and rich mashed potatoes. The only reason I didn't do a perfect 5 stars is that all of our steaks were a bit undercooked. Still good enough to eat as they were all one cook level from our order, but unfortunately not spot on like would be expected at a steakhouse. (I'm sure they would have corrected their oversight, but we were under a time crunch for the show!) But I would definitely go back!

Yelp
i just had dinner at osso steakhouse and found it so enjoyable, i am reviewing with my experience. The food was excellent, the service attentive, and the ambiance was not only lovely and interesting, with carpets, drapes, and by floorplan, actually quiet enough to enjoy a conversation. I truly enjoyed the ability to dine family style with our large group, so we could sample the menu well. the cheesey bread, crusty calamari, excellent wedge salad, several vegetables, really crisp fries, and a couple of cooked to order steaks made for satisfaction; there were a variety of fine sauces, including a bearnaise. by the glass selections of beverages also let each of us enjoy the meal to full. and speaking of full, after desserts were share, that was our happy state of being. i have always loved this location and rejoice in finding the food makes it worth returning.

Yelp
We did a dinner to celebrate our engagement just the two of us after all of the celebrations with our families and friends ended and it was amazing! They greeted us with champagne and the location is beautiful right across from the cathedral. Our meal was very good and the french wine our server recommended was lovely. Would highly recommend for a nice dinner in the city. Good portions as well. This place is expensive but it's high quality meats and large shareable sides so we found it justified. Some places in the city you would pay this much and leave still hungry and that is definitely not the case at Osso. The only thing I found a little odd was the bathroom situation. You had to go down an elevator to get to access them and it seemed a bit sketchy.

Yelp
3.75/5 Old school typa feel restaurant. Service was excellent, wish I remembered waiters name(he had black nails). Have to take the elevator downstairs to the restroom which was a little weird. ~Food~ Calamari: never have i ever had soggy, non-crispy calamari. 0.5/5 Cheesy bread: For sure made sense why this picture popped up so often, the hype was real! Honestly might've been the best dish here. Crispy on the outside, cheesy(garlicky?) on the inside... perfection! 5/5 Ribeye: One of the best steaks I've ever had. Couldn't have cooked it better. Our waiter said it's cooked so well it didn't need sauce and he was 100% correct. Ordered some for a little flair but was honestly better without it. 5/5 Romaine wedge: Nice and refreshing. Trying to get the taste buds for blue cheese and this was a nice starter, wasn't too strong. 4/5 Potatoes au gratin: It was ok, nothing special. 3/5 French onion soup: Really basic. Was hoping for a little something different but tastes more like something you can grab for a couple bucks at a cafe. 2.5/5 ~Deserts~ Both of them were excellent. Just the right amount of sweetness. Would come back just for the steak and bread honestly. If you wanted to keep it simple, these 2 dishes are all you need here!

Yelp
Hadn't been back since before the pandemic and sadly, it's just not as good as we remember. For one, they don't have the Philly cheesesteak that we fell in love with at the bar. They have something a similar steak sandwich, but it just doesn't hit the same. The service was just OK too, but maybe the bartender was having a bad day. I mean, at least our martinis were just the way we like 'em. We'll likely come back again to try other stuff on the menu to give it another chance because we live so close, but sad to report that it's not among our favorites anymore.

Yelp
We had a lovely visit to Osso Steakhouse last night and indulged on probably the best Octopus I've had this side of Spain! The wedge salad was delectable and loaded with bacon and blue cheese. We did a bone-in Filet and a bone in New York steak and they were yummy but I'd like to see real 'sharp' steak knives offered. We are still talking about the Potatoes au Gratin - amazing, rich and didn't want the bowl to empty! No room for desert. The ambiance is truly lovely and wait staff were charming. We're going back to try dining with the fun Bar menu and guess what ....the bar has cute white table cloth tables in it as well. See you soon Osso and for Nob Hill neighbors, this is truly a neighborhood gem!

Yelp
We went to Osso Steakhouse 2 weeks ago, after going to a show at the Orpheum. Since we saw the afternoon show, we wound up with an early dinner so were at the restaurant when they opened. This was on a Sunday evening. The restaurant is beautiful. Very clubby atmosphere and tucked away in the Gramercy Towers on Nob Hill. Yes, parking can be prohibitively expensive but if you go on a Sunday night, the meters are all free. We were able to park on the street. Service was excellent. The wait staff was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. Food: I had the petite filet, hub had the steak au poivre. Our friends had similar orders. We also ordered 3 sides: the spinach, the carrots and the mushrooms. We started with the cheese bread. First, the cheese bread. OMG - if you go to Osso - order this! It is pure indulgence but lord, it's worth every gooey calorie. It's a big, beautiful loaf of sourdough bread sitting in the most wonderful cheese sauce. Almost like a fondue. My bread worshipping husband wanted to have 1 all to himself (yeah....no.) The meat was very good but here is the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5. My husband ordered his meat medium well and parts of the steak were extremely rare. So pink that he could not eat it. I ordered the filet done medium rare and it was more toward the rare side (very pink). My feeling is that if you are a high (very high) end steakhouse and this is your specialty, then the meat should be cooked exactly to the customer's request. Wine - my girlfriend and I had a 1/2 bottle of a favorite Riesling of ours. My hub had a glass of wine and her husband had a cocktail. Nice wine list. The sides were fine - nothing out of the ordinary. All in all, a very nice dining experience. Please keep in mind that it is quite expensive. I think Osso would be nice for special occasions.

Yelp
Came here during SF Restaurant week, to try something new and treat ourselves on a Friday night. This place is tucked away next to a residential building next to the Masonic Center and Grace Cathedral on California St. Very unassuming for the higher-end dining offered. My wife and I enjoyed every we ordered. In addition to the SF Restaurant week menu (starter salad + 8 oz steak frites + dessert for $65) we also ordered a fried calamari appetizer to share as well as a side of creamed spinach. Both our steaks were cooked perfectly to our requests and it was clear that the ingredients were high quality. We were attended to by multiple wait staff and all of them were knowledgeable, helpful, and quick. I really recommend this place for a fancy date night or a celebration dinner.

Yelp
Came here for a light dinner. Friends got a kale salad, French onion soup, and burger. Beef tare rare was good. Make sure to ask for one more slice of bread. Burger looked delicious. Fries were a hit. Soup and salad was good! Will have to come back for the steak and drinks.

Yelp
Excellent experience from start to finish! From the unreal house garlic bread to the fresh salads and sublime steaks we couldn't be happier. The wine list is one for the ages.

Yelp
went for my roommates birthday and had a great time, such an upscale and classic atmosphere. all the food and drinks felt upscale and they handled everything with care. the steak was perfectly seasoned and the sides were a good size. i ordered a Shirley temple and its was made with such quality ingredients.

Yelp
This was our fjrst time at Osso. Everyone we came in contact with, from the hostess to the bus men, were so friendly and personable. The seats at our table were very comfortable. The food was very good. First we ordered the cheese bread because we had read good reviews on that. It was delicious, and big enough for at least 4 people to share. The crab cakes were good, with just enough sauce. The wedge salad could also have been shared by 2 people and was very good. The french onion soup was very good, although I wish that the cheese they had used had been the more traditional gruyere or swiss. It tasted like the same cheddar blend they used on the cheese bread. We shared the steak au poivre, which was VERY peppered - a little too much for my taste. We also added potatoes au gratin as a side. Granted, our meal was heavy on the cheese. We will order a bit differently next time. Too full for dessert. Also, I wish the workers had name tags or something. A gentleman came to our table to talk about the wine we had chosen, and I assume he was the sommelier but he didn't introduce himself.

Jacob M.

Yelp
Just an absolute great steakhouse. The food was tasty, the steak was tender, and the cocktails were well balanced. The service provided by Danny and Paola was very efficient and friendly. The ambiance was like stepping through a time portal to the roaring twenties. The art deco inspiration was executed perfectly. Great for a date night or a small corporate dinner.

Yelp
Really nice steakhouse! Enjoyed dinner here and had a very delicious filet and mashed potatoes! The restaurant was full of guests and service was still top notch. Easy access to the restaurant and our driver was able to pull right up for drop off and pick up. Suggest one of the booths for dining.

Perry A.

Yelp
We had a small group of 10. Our server was excellent . For the past few years our group has always had dinner at Osso on the first Saturday in December. The restaurant food is top notch. Be sure to keep the cheese Bread appetizer; simply delicious. Keep up the good work

AL V.

Yelp
It was my wife's birthday and they took great care of us, everyone from the staff was very polite and showed great hospitality. The restaurant was very peaceful and private as well. Would definitely recommend eating here if you are looking for a delicious steak dinner! Thank You Osso's!

Yelp
My cousin recently hosted a holiday dinner party of about 35 guests and we were seated in a nice private dining room. Because we have young children, we have no choice but to drive and parking was a whopping $50 because the closest parking garage is part of the SF Masonic. They don't validate or discount parking. And because SF isn't the place it used to be, finding cheaper but farther parking was not an option for us. Even deciding to drive was a bold decision for us! As for food, it was good but maybe because it was mass produced family style for the party, it wasn't anything great. The side dishes of Mac&cheese, creamed spinach, potatoes au gratin, and the garlic cheese bread were super salty. The mains consisted of the tomahawk, pork chop, and branzino fish. The pork chop was the best actually, a slight crispy outside and tender inside. Tomahawk was a bit tough even though it said medium rare. The highlight was the dessert in my opinion. New York cheesecake and chocolate hazelnut cake was soooo good! All in all, it's a strike to get to this restaurant and it would be nice if they could provide an incentive such as validating parking. But you wouldn't find us coming back any time soon.

Belin K.

Yelp
Came here for my birthday and enjoyed the food. The service was good and I liked the decor, but the lighting was horrible for pictures. I chose this restaurant for the cheese bread but that was my least favorite thing we ate. I ordered the wedge salad and the filet with bone. Both were good. We were all a little scared when the steaks came out since they were on the thinner side so we thought they'd all be over cooked, but they were cooked perfectly. We all enjoyed the meal. The restaurant was pretty empty when we came here on a Saturday night which felt strange.

Ava D.

Yelp
The perfect place for dinner before a show at the Masonic. The menu has great options, and my go to is always the French Onion soup. If you love cheese, the Cheese Bread is for you, but regardless bread for the table is great here.

lidia ..

Yelp
Came here for a corporate dinner; Branzino was raw and had bones inside. Many ppl at the table couldn't finish their steak either

Yelp
We sat in the private room for a birthday dinner. Tom was our waiter. The cocktails, wine and aged ribeye were delicious. We shared the ribeye at a tune of $120 per couple. I enjoyed the spinach, Mac and cheese, cheesy bread and mashed potatoes. It was a beautiful room we sat in. The fried calamari and carrots were delicious as well.
google avatar

Yelp
We came here for valentine's and they were very accommodating! We were constantly checked on and always had water. I know there are people out there who don't believe in valentines cause wHy wAiT tIL tOdAy to show love type thing. But I strongly disagree. Porque no los dos? Its an excuse to get steak and cocktails on a tuesday. I ain't turning down a fun time! The ribeye steak here is phenomenal! Done medium rare is chef's kiss. Its also bone in which makes it very very tender. So who ever is grill master, is killing it back there. Where they can improve in their sides and cocktails game. It didn't feel on par with the steak, they weren't bad but because of this....was why I docked a star.
google avatar

Darcy M.

Yelp
Ultimately was very pleased by my experience here. All staff was welcoming and very helpful. The fries were cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious, although wasn't a big fan of the sauce pictured, likely would have preferred a chimichurri instead. Nevertheless, the steak was cooked to perfection and we had a lovely time!
google avatar

Natty B.

Yelp
We had an absolutely amazing experience here. I was a little apprehensive when walking in as even though I wasn't in jeans & a T-shirt, I was worried about being underdressed. To contrary, people in jeans & a polo, full length dresses and everything in between were all welcomed in with the same level of warm hospitality. Aside from exceptional service, the food was also fantastic. You will never ever go wrong with a recommendation!
google avatar

Kelvin W.

Yelp
The service was great as it was Mother's Day and reservations were made. The food was great. As for the ambiance I'll let you be the judge of that.

Anthony S.

Yelp
Not bad at all, def recommend this place for the food. However, the service could have been better. The servers didn't come check on us enough and kept us hanging. We had gotten the tomahawk steak and it took quite awhile to come to us....which is because the server just assumed at wanted to finish off our appetizers first for some reason so we were waiting a good hr almost for it, getting frustrated as we're seeing people get their food before us yet we'd been there longer. I don't know who the server just decided to make that assumption & that's really my only complaint about this. It kind of put a damper on our anniversary dinner to be honest.

Jackline A.

Yelp
The 1 star is for service our waiter was good the food was horrible all the steaks were burnt black including the cheese bread we had. We could hear noise loud conversations in Spanish coming from the kitchen. This probably explains why we were served bad food because instead of focusing on the food they were indulged in conversations. Been going here a lot but not anymore it's time to find another steakhouse thanks for ruining my birthday dinner OSSO steakhouse
google avatar

Ryan T.

Yelp
My 12 oz bone in filet had a nice crust on it but was undercooked and underseasoned. I'd expect a bit better for a $70 steak. Service was attentive.
google avatar

Will E.

Yelp
We haven't been here in quite awhile because the last time the food wasn't that up to par. We thought we give it another try and needless to say it was just okay. The calamari was chewy and maybe undercooked. My steak was over cooked but at least they brought me out another steak which was cooked perfectly. The lamb chops were cooked perfectly but you only get two small chops. Would be nice to get at least 3 or 4. There not that big. My potatoes were cooked great. The other 3 people I was with said there steak was cooked perfect. The cream spinach wasn't that flavorful or good either. The deserts we ordered were key lime tart and carrot cake. The carrot cake was hard and no flavor to it. The key lime tart was delicious. Also, too bad they got rid of the chorizo bread because that was one of the best things on the menu.

Jose S.

Yelp
Great service and the food was amazing! Best steak in SF. If you want to go on a special or romantic dinner this is the place!

Yelp
The food was really good. Located at the ground level of an apartment/condo which was a bit odd. Went on a Friday night and was not as busy as I expected it to be.

Yelp
This is such an under the radar, great steakhouse in the city. I don't really love meat but want a burger every so often and now I know where I will come to satisfy my next craving! It was like a smash burger and so freaking good. My husband also says he prefers this steakhouse over all the other ones in the city. Amazing mashed potatoes and roasted carrots too!! It's very laid back and has really comfy swivel chairs at their two tops. And super friendly and attentive service and staff!!!

We had an exceptional dinner at Osso Steakhouse. We arrived a few hours before a comedy show at The Masonic, which gave us time to relax and enjoy a romantic dinner. The service was warm and attentive, the food was delicious, and so good, and the ambiance was perfect for date night, deco with modern touches. We'll be back, even if we don't have a show to attend next door.

Yelp
5 stars for the entire process of planning a dinner party for 12. Richard, the manager, was amazing, responsive, helpful, and on the day of dinner, he was short staffed that evening and waited on our Christmas dinner himself with his assistant. We appreciated his fast service, great suggestions, and dinner was delicious. If you're coming for steak, rib eye regular or dry aged rib eye, you're in for a treat. My pork chop was slightly overcooked, but the flavors were there. Their playlist for music was fun. We were jammin', and the room for large parties was perfect and huge, so everyone was comfortable and not stuck together. French onion soup was my favorite for the evening. They make their own bread there so every bite we extra good. Cheese bread was good really good, crab cakes were tiny but delicious, calamari was fried perfectly with good dipping sauces. Everyone loved their meal and was impressed. I really wish their desserts were better tasting. They were just OK. Richard did give them options for adding different sauces like chocolate or caramel instead of strawberry sauce for their cheesecake. Which was very accommodating. He was amazing, packed everyone's leftovers, and organized them so nicely. So everyone can finish their steaks for breakfast. This is a great place for dinner. Safe, clean, friendly, and delicious. We really enjoyed our meal and it was

Yelp
I really enjoyed the ambience. I loved their Lucy blossom cocktail. It was sour citrus and salty. It was delicious. The food is on par with other steak houses. Their side portions are significantly smaller The crab cake was delicious. One big crab cake. I had the French onion soup which was delicious. For desert I had the lemon sorbet. It was tart and sour, just the way I like it. Overall a good experience. I couldn't give a full five star because parking was tough here and there didn't seem to be valet. Additionally , nothing stood out to me. It was a solid steakhouse with good food. Would definitely come back.

Yelp
The food was great, service was awesome, we came up to SF for the Metallica 40th anniversary concerts. My only gripe with Osso was the parking situation. Rolled up and lucky we were kind of early. Didn't see any valet parking, I understand SF parking can be a premium, I had to circle the blocks with the rental car a few times and got lucky with street parking. All other parking garages were charging in upwards of $25-50 because of an event! The decor is a bit classic, something you'd see from an old steakhouse from the movie Casino. It was nice. We shared the ribeye for two which was perfect. I thought Osso's version of the French Onion was a bit off, be careful as the soup was SUPER HOT. Get their hot bread which was good. All in all a good classy steakhouse in the middle of SF. Reservations recommended, get there a bit early since you need to search for parking. The bathrooms are also a level down (stairs or elevator), take a friend with you gals. ;)

Yelp
I've come to this steakhouse a couple of times with my fiancé. The first time we came here on a whim before an weekday event nearby when the more casual spot we were hoping to go before was closed. We ordered a couple entrees and a side to share. I didn't want to drink that night, and because I think it'd be a waste to get a nice steak without a glass of wine, I got the fish. The fish was pretty good, but nothing to write home about and the veggies we got on the side were solid as well. My fiancé enjoyed the filet mignon, and even I enjoyed my bite of it, so much that he wanted to come back for his birthday dinner. A couple days before his birthday, I booked a large group to come for dinner this past Friday night. Booking was easy on OpenTable, but unfortunately I couldn't mark that it was for a birthday online. When we checked into the restaurant, I made sure to inform them as well as our waiter that we were there for that occasion. We ordered a lot that night; cocktails, a bottle of wine, bread and cheese bread appetizers, entrees for everyone and multiple sides. Like our previous visit, everything I tried I enjoyed and the service was nice. They even helped my fiancé pick a bottle from their extensive wine list to go with our orders of red meat. Although, at the end of our meal they did nothing for his birthday! Our group was too full from the meal to actually order a dessert, but they could have brought something with a candle so we could sing happy birthday. I even heard another birthday was being celebrated at the restaurant that night, so I was really disappointed in the restaurant - even after spending almost a thousand dollars on dinner, they couldn't even bring him a slice of cake or something! Given the prices, this restaurant should be saved for more special occasions though it's hard to say whether they'd acknowledge them appropriately.

Yelp
We came here for dinner since we were seeing Ali Wong at the Masonic next door. Parking is a bit tough, we parked next door at the Masonic parking garage (it is not free, and usually more expensive on event days). We ordered the cheese bread as an appetizer, which was amazing as everyone had said. My boyfriend and I both ordered the 12oz bone in filet. It was cooked perfectly to our liking, but taste wise it was okay, maybe needed some more seasoning? We also ordered the mushroom demi glacé and chimichurri sauce to go with it. Our sides were creamed spinach and a loaded baked potato which were tasty. Last but not least we had the chocolate hazelnut crunch cake which was amazing! Overall, the service and staff were great and ambiance was just right, not too quiet and not too loud, perfect for date night or parties!
