"Having held three Michelin stars since 1996 (an Italian record), this restaurant is now close to celebrating a century in business. Situated in the village of Runate, which lies in the countryside between Cremona and Mantova and has just a few dozen inhabitants, Dal Pescatore is run by an extraordinary couple who have transformed what was an old family inn into a temple of elegance and hospitality. Antonio Santini oversees the front of house, while his wife Nadia is at the helm in the kitchen, aided by sons Giovanni and Alberto. In a setting boasting an elegant mix of old and new, where space, light and colour combine to create an enchanting ambience, enjoy memorable dishes that have evolved over the decades, improving year after year without ever succumbing to modern trends so that the focus is always on flavour and the joy of good food. The superb roasts and braised dishes are prepared using meat sourced from Cascina Runate, while the local petit gris snails served with aromatic herbs and sweet garlic are equally delicious." - Michelin Inspector

I travel the world for a living and eat at many high end restaurants in different countries every year. I can positively say that nobody here gives a damn about their guests. The level of customer service my family and i experienced at this restaurant last night was absolutely shocking and left us feeling offended and frustrated for the rest of our evening. Starting from the food, the fish crudité and fish gratinati was absolutely delicious and so was the shrimp and champagne risotto, tasty and cooked to perfection. The location is also stunning and the sparkling house white was nice and reasonably priced. We were however very disappointed by the fritto misto, which for Italian standards was extremely poor both in terms of ingredients and of quality, looking and tasting reheated instead of cooked fresh. But I’m just an ex chef so what would I know… On arrival we found out that the table we reserved had been given to someone else which obviously didn’t set us to a good start, although we tried to be understanding of the waiter who made the mistake and thanked him for sorting us out with another table anyway. As soon as we sat down we order water and asked for a slice of lemon for our glass, which didn’t arrive until we asked the third time, by which point we had already finished our starters. No apologies by the waiter, just colleagues blaming. The way we were served the main courses was absolutely ridiculous. We made clear to the waiter that we wanted to share the risotto as a first course and then have the fritto misto as a second course but staff had other plans for us and decided that we were going to have it all at once. Not only did they not apologise for they mistake but they didn’t even bring us any cutlery until we had to ask for it whenever we managed to get a waiter’s attention. Once again, no apologies but colleagues blaming. By the time we were 3/4 of the way through our dinner my plate was taken away from me even though I wasn’t done eating by a waiter who clearly couldn’t wait to go home. I didn’t say anything because I was actually full enough and found it funny, but when the same waiter tried to take away all the other plates including the dish with the last bits of fritto misto, my dad had to stop him and point out that everyone was still eating. Once again, no apologies. Finally when we asked for the bill one of the waitresses hastily told us to go pay inside, to which I kindly replied that we would have liked to get the bill at the table first instead. She had the cheek to roll her eyes at me before going to get the bill for us. We weren’t thanked for our visit, we weren’t offered anything after dinner even though every other table was offered an amaro or a sorbetto to complement their dinner and unfortunately, once again we weren’t given any apologies for the messy service we had to endure all night. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anybody who has a dignity and cares about making their money count.

This has been on my Lake Garda bucket list for a while now. We obtained a reservation by asking our hotel to book a table for 2 for us. If you want to eat outside, reservation is definitely recommended. The food itself was top notch. But, we found ourselves there for a very long time. The desserts finally came about 40 minutes later. Couldn't argue with the standard of them though...delicious. The Osteria was very busy that night which probably led to the waiting time of our desserts. Despite the dessert delay, we could not fault this meal at all, and the seafood cooking is incredible. Very highly recommended.

Very average restaurant. Service was unpleasant and disappointing. The waitress was downright unpleasant when we didn't speak Italian. We did get a pastry upon arrival, but we had to ask for an olive oil and balsamic plate. We were very surprised that in the seafood restaurant, when we ordered dishes with mussels, seafood and lobster, we were not given a finger bowl or wet wipes to wash our hands. The restrooms in one room had wipes but no soap, the other had soap but no wipes. The house wine and grappa were the worst we drank during our trip in Italy. We ordered 3 dishes from the menu, all tasted the same, the pasta was literally swimming in oil. The lobster was fine. Given the high rating of the restaurant and the higher prices, we were disappointed with the overall standard. It was not a pleasant experience.

Excellent seafood served with prompt service. We went for lunch and it was not too busy, dinner reservations would be required. The entrees were the highlight - three lake fish, fish tortellini and the Venice crab claws. Would highly recommend. Good value for money as well.

Just WOW.!!! What a hidden gem. Awesome seafood pasta. Generous portions. Lovely staff. Would absolutely go here again! We didn’t book a table, but was seated inside and then moved out when a table opened up!

Thanks for the amazing dinner! The risotto was perfectly cooked and the seafood incredibly fresh. We truly enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and delicious food. A special thanks for being so kind to our baby Luna – she says “dada” in approval! We’ll definitely be back. 👶🏽

We had a wonderful time — the food and service were spot on. It’s rare to find a place that serves fish from Lake Garda so well. Thank you all — this was a real discovery!

Yelp
The restaurant is located on the lake bank, friendly atmosphere, and the staff is professional and customer friendly. It's a fish restaurant; we picked Sheff's salad which was disappointing but eatable after adding oil and spices. The sea bass fish for two and vegetables were okay, we ate better. Quite expensive place.
