I frequently and joyously travel across town to Tor Pignattara for Osteria Bonelli’s horse skirt steak.

I never received my food after waiting 30 minutes beyond when others at the table received their dishes. This has never happened to me in my life. Waiter was largely unapologetic and unhelpful. Go somewhere else. Edit (1 star to 3 stars): After the fact, the owner was made aware of the situation and insisted the dish be made immediately for takeaway. That was a very nice thing to do. The food is delicious!

One of the best restaurants I have been to in Rome. And prices are fair! The courgette flower filled with mozzarella and anchovies is from another planet, simply amazing. But it does not matter what you order, it is made to perfection. Their menu changes every day depending on what they get, which is also great. I came to Rome for a weekend and had to come here every day. If there was one thing to criticise, their house wine wasn’t great, although not expensive at all. I’d recommend you get a bottle instead if you drink wine. And another thing is, you’ll need to reserve a table over phone as it is always full.

The food was good but the main dish, I had the tagliolini al baccala and I don't think I'll ever have a meal that delicious again 😔 but it does give me a reason to come back 😉

Sunday family lunch, we took my parents for lunch to experience the local cuisine and my husband and I have been here before, so we know food is exceptional. We had Mozzarella in carrozza for the kids, Gricia and Amatriciana for the big boys, tris al sugo, rabbit (alla cacciatora) and saltimbocca. Every single dish was delicious and with generous portions. Service is good but could be better, they are extremely busy and unless you book in advance, finding a table can be ‘mission impossible’. However, our waiter and a girl with blond long hair were very kind and helpful. Highly recommended, but make sure you book in advance!

Five of us dined here. There was no English menu, but my Italian colleague ordered some fantastic local dishes for us. It felt nice knowing we were the only tourists, so we were prepared for a truly authentic Italian dining experience.

O...M...G... if you haven't tried this place, YOU ARE MISSING OUT ! Service was amazing, food?? To die for !! Staff was very patience and friendly, they explained everything on the menu with a big smile on their face and even gave us some amazing food recommendations. I hereby crown Osteria Bonelli THE BEST RESTAURANT IN ROME! Don't forget to make reservations, they are ALWAYS packed with locals !!

A real gem. Anyone visiting Rome, this is a proper authentic dinner spot. You won't find tourists here. Everything was incredible, portions are big. Prices are very fair. Recommend to make a reservation - it was packed when we were there.

Food in Rome is mostly targeted at tourists and is just ok. To have a good experience you need to know where to eat and as a general rule the further you get from the center, the more likely you will enjoy your meal. I had a some recommendations obtained from a foodie authority however most restaurants are closed on Mondays and the ones that were open did not have free tables until Osteria accepted my reservation for a single table at 21:00. It is located in Torpignattara around 15 bus stops from the center. I had no idea what to expect and by the looks of the the shabby run down area where I got off the bus I thought it was going to be a small hole in the wall that serves nearby residents. However after entering the side street the landscape changed to a much nicer neighbourhood with villas and good looking buildings and there it was a big restaurant with a terrace under a good looking building and facing a square. The terrace was full and the empty tables had reservation cards. You could tell that all the patrons were local except for on clueless middle eastern tourist, a very good sign. A sweet young lady asked me for a reservation and I confirmed. I requested to sit outside and she directed me to an empty table. After ordering water I saw some dispute between the manager and her. He came to me and said that is ok now but I did not reserve outside and should have specified that. Apparently he thought I misled the hostess or something. I simply said I had no idea about that and merely stated my preference. He was not very smiley and it was kinda of an unnecessary move from his side which made me uncomfortable during the meal but what was to come was much better. The menu was listed on a black board only in italian so have your google translation ready with you. They specialize in Roman cuisine with dishes like beef tripe and horse meat. I ordered a pasta dish that I saw being served frequently followed by veal brisket with porcini mishrooms. The pasta was tonnareli alla grecia. A thick variant of egg spaghetti with cured meat and peccorino cheese. It was absolutely heavenly. Very creamy, the salt from the cheese was not overpowering and it was of course al dente without being starchy. The veal was very tender and the sauce was excellent. Although I was full even after the pasta, I couldn’t resist ordering a dessert and had a caramel panna cotta which was also super delicious. The check was 27 Euros with two coffees and a large bottle of water. I paid 30 for their trouble. Overall an excellent meal. If you decide to go, make sure you make a reservation for a table ON THE TERRACE.

Yelp
This place is amazingly good and very reasonably priced. I had the housemate pasta carbonara which had very crispy ham/bacon in it and it was absolutely the best. Then I had saltimbocca which I don't get to have very often and it was what legends are made of. This is a neighborhood restaurant with locals. No English menus, but everybody is very kind and some of the staff Do you speak enough to help you. I strongly recommend this be a destination restaurant if you want something typically Roman and local for a tourist visiting. It is a €20 taxi ride from city center.

Yelp
Looooooved this place! 5 stars! Why?! Food is AMAZING! service is fast and very friendly- price is more than affordable. Might be a little outside the touristic center but hey that's why we need the taxi, right?! I'm posting the pics of what we've had. 2 starters- 3 main dish- small bottle of wine and of course a tiramisu to share costed only 50 euro. A must go in Rome! Enjoy...

Yelp
My first 5 star review! One word: AMAZING Absolutely fracking amazing. We went here on our last night in Rome and boy do we regret not finding this gem earlier. Family style meal, very friendly staff (we came without reservation but they still managed to find us a seat). It's in Trip advisor, but two of us were the only tourists here. There was only 1 waitress that can speak some English. House wine was great (we ordered 2 bottles). The pasta was out of this world (we ordered the carbonara style and the fettuccini with sausage) and we also ordered the 3-type of meat covered in tomato sauce. Lastly we ordered desert. Every single one was great. We've been on a week tour in Italy (Rome, Florence, and Amalfi Coast) and this restaurant is definitely THE best we've had. And the best part: it's VERY affordable. 2 pasta, 1 secondi, 1 desert, 2x house wines = 33 EURO. Don't miss this restaurant! It's still open at 10PM! Parking is not easy, but it's not bad at all.

Yelp
I love everything about this place. I love that my hubby called and said, "parli Ingles?" And following a resounding "No", they proceeded to somehow understand each other enough to secure us a reservation for 7 people at 8 pm. This occurred around 7:30 on the same night. When we arrived, we watched as the waitress finished filling out the menu for the evening. We also saw the cooks prepping for the night. Soon afterwards we were welcomed in and the waitress promptly brought over the menu board and translated the entire thing for us. Her name is Sandra and she was wonderful as a waitress. The food was by far the best I've had in Italy so far (for Italian style) and I live in Italy! Not only was it amazing, but receiving the bill was a shock with how low the numbers were on the bottom. There's no Coperto either. 7 people ate first and mains for less than €100. Impressive.

Yelp
I was taken here by a Roman friend. All I can say is Wow! The carbonara was some of the best I had in Rome, and I do try this dish all the time. The ambiance was tastefully done, and service was attentive. I'll be going again.

Yelp
If I could give 0 stars I would. We called twice for reservations and each time we were told if we arrive at 20:00 no reservation needed. We showed up at 20:00 there was no one in the restaurant and we were told we could only have the table for one hour. They were extremely rude and unwelcoming.

Yelp
Last night my two daughters and I tried to have dinner at this restaurant and got turned away because we spoke English and not Italian. We were told that they didn't have a waiter on duty that spoke English, however the on duty manager brought a worker from the back to explain this to us. I told the manager this would not be a problem because we have a transition app. He rudely said, NO there is no table for us. We left feeling very disrespected. Just a hungry American family.

Yelp
So this is supposed to be where the locals go.. So let's keep it this way! Very disappointing. The waitresses are very rude. We could not figure out the menu which is on a board in Italian. When we finished we asked for a taxi and the waitress wouldn't call and said she is very busy! Stay way! The food was so and so. It took us longer to get to it than we styes there.
