Osteria Carlina Tribeca

Osteria Carlina is my favorite little gem in Tribeca. I’m reluctant to spread the news but Carlina deserves its praise. The restaurant is intimate, the staff are attentive, and the bar is quite romantic. The Steak Tartare is unlike any you’ve had anywhere in NYC and my personal go-to dish. It’s not strongly pickled like most you find in the city, but rather just lightly salted with lemon and oil. Deliciously refined and not drowned in seasoning to cover up the flavor of the meat. Other worthy mentions are the seasonal scallop ceviche appetizer, the fluke crudo, and the zucchini lasagna for any vegetarian/gluten-free folk - very unexpectedly filling and savory. Lastly, my favorite dessert is the Giandujotto. A slice of hazelnut, mascarpone, graham cookie based heaven. Shoutout to the bartender, Rei, who never fails to host a great time at the bar, as well as Raul, who is always extremely attentive and knowledgeable on all items of the menu. It was a bold move to walk in on a Saturday night with a party of 7 and without reservations. But Raul pulled a miracle and found a spot for us. The cocktails were really delicious, the build your own espresso martini was quite unique. And the food? Absolutely phenomenal. My husband is from Northen Italy and he gave it two thumbs up. The cuisine is from Piemonte so you see regional dishes and desserts you won't find anywhere else. Our group ordered a bunch of food. My standouts - tartare (unique flavors and spices, probably one of the better ones I've tried), squid ink pasta with crab meat (mostly everyone ordered this and it was soo good, delicate seafood taste with the cherry tomatoes), papardelle sausage and mushroom ragu (very creamy). My standout dessert was Giandujutto, a Piemonte specialty. The tiramisu was good, but I don't know if ours just had extra espresso that made it too rich. Everything was legitimately good and it was hard to pick a favorite. You honestly can't go wrong with anything in the menu. But really, the excellent service made it such a memorable dinner. It was our last night in NY, and our friend's birthday. And Raul and staff made us feel so welcome and special. From bringing us chairs and blankets while we waited outside to chatting with us and treating us like their friends. The ambiance, setting, food, service is top notch. Perfect for a date night, something special or if you want to impress out of towners. For a group of 7 with multiple drinks, desserts, apps and food, expect to spend $100 per person. Will definitely be back when I'm in NY. My local NY friends said they would come back and I've been recommending it to others since then. But make a reservation! And shout out again to Raul for being the best host.

I’m going to jump right into it. I was not a fan of the food. It was bland , salty , and had no flavor. I love Italian food and have eaten plenty of it , especially when i go to Italy. The arancini was so bland and flavorless. The Caesar salad dressing was really delicious however $24 for 6 pieces of lettuce leaf’s with sprinkled dressing and breadcrumbs is ridiculous. My bolognese was salty and my husband’s ravioli was bland with an odd texture. The drinks were well made and nice. The part why it’s two stars is the waitress took our order and gathered our menus as we were done ordering and asked do we want any bread for the table. We said yes as most Italian restaurants offer a bread basket. She never mentioned that the bread they brought with a side of olives cost extra. First of all i hate olives and my husband doesn’t care for them. We were charged $16 for bread and olives. Which we would never mind paying for if we knew that was an option, i didn’t appreciate being tricked into buying a bread basket. It brings down the value i think of this restaurant now with scam tactics. The tiramisu was okay .. and it was extremely small. Overall i won’t be coming back and will find a much better Italian restaurant in the city.

What a good time we had on our Xmas day! The place offers an incredible cozy chique vibe, good and attentive service. The wine list could offer a few more options and maybe some more age as well. Rodrigo was our captain and we had a great time with him and the rest of the team. We just think food could be a bit more overwhelming! Definitely a place to be back though

10/10 would recommend!!! Our server, Orchid, was incredible!! My husband and I just got married and she helped make our special day ✨spectacular✨! She was knowledgeable, friendly, courteous, kind, and just an overall pleasure to be around. Our apps, drinks, entrees, and dessert were all out of this world!! Can’t wait to visit the city again and make this my go-to spot every time. Great restaurant to enjoy a delicious meal paired with great service and atmosphere. Solo-dining friendly and Rie at the bar is a great guy to chat to. The manager Raul is also very accommodating and ensured my experience was smooth - that is the key part, the experience you'd have dining there is second to none. On the food side, every meal was perfectly cooked and products were all flavourful which speaks of their good quality. Highly recommend and I myself am looking forward to visit again.

Raul is the best, great manager and cares about everyone that walks in. The food is a taste of Italy with a great atmosphere! Every dish has amazing flavor and so fresh. Come here and you won’t be disappointed! Great servers too!!

We came here for our 2nd anniversary and it exceeds all our expectations. The people and staff are very kind and lovely. Beautiful and romantic restaurant with amazing food. Lots of love to all the staff and Valeria and Kenny. You are all doing a great job!

Had a pretty solid group dinner, with attentive servers and standard Italian fare. Unfortunately (or fortunately), the best thing I had was the house made focaccia. For starters, we ordered the murazzi salad and eggplant parm, both of which was not loved by the table. The Gorgonzola cheese didn't pair very well with the bitter greens, and the eggplant parm was a bit too heavy on the cheese. For the mains, I shared the large veal chop and the bolognese. The pasta was overly sweet and the meat was a bit overcooked, but the veal chop was great value and tasted quite good. The restaurant itself has pretty limited seating, but I appreciate that it didn't feel too squished.

Just Meh. Pappardelle - meh. Agnolotti - MEH. Squid Ink Pasta - Double MEH. Better off elsewhere.

Overall, the food and service were pretty good. However, I did have an issue with the price point, which seemed rather high for the restaurant. When pasta dishes are $30-$40, while the main entrees are north of $50, well you get my point. The main reason that I am giving this restaurant 2 stars is that my party had a 7:30 PM reservation. It was a Monday night. We were not seated until 8:00 PM because they claimed that a table that should have been finished was just hanging out. Instead of asking this table to get up and go to the bar or just simply leave, they made us wait. So, instead of ruining their experience, they essentially ruined ours. I was in a pretty foul mood at the time we sat down. At the price point, the wait was unacceptable and showed how poorly the restaurant was managed. The worst part of it is by the time we finished dinner the entire restaurant was empty, and the staff was just hanging around waiting for us to leave. It was a tad awkward and a terrible way to end an evening. I will not be back.

Just happened upon this gem while locating the Ghostbusters fire station house. Sat at the bar and enjoyed excellent service. Nice cab with meat and cheese tray, the bread was amazing. Shared the meat ravioli and it was delicious... save some bread for the gravy left with whatever you order.

I had dinner at this restaurant last night . I ordered three mixed drinks ( Negroni's) bread and pasta with clams . The food was good but the pasta portion was small . There is indoor and outdoor seating and the outdoor tables were supplied with water for patrons who brought their dogs . With my 20% tip the bill was $141. I was surprised that I was charged $7 for a side of Italian bread . My drinks were $22 each . The drinks were fine but nothing special . In my opinion the price was steep for my dinner so I'm giving the restaurant 3 1/2 stars.

This a 5 star spot; however, seating here is tough. Our table was right next to the table abutting us with no space to go around besides crawl to get out. The table next to us which was also abutting had the same issue and two different couples didn't want to deal with the same situation. We however prevailed and didn't want to wait to get a regular reasonably spaced table. The bread was well worth getting as well as the burrata appetizer special. I then proceeded with the Agnolotti alla Piemontese which was great. The Duck pasta my girlfriend got tasted like chicken noodle soup and was surprisingly good although she admitted mine was superior. Highly recommend coming here, this would be a 5 star restaurant if they had a separate seating section on their reservation site for those being served up again the wall/entrance area. At least this way people will know what they'll be getting into and not expect regular spaced seating!

The mushroom ragu is one of the best pastas I have ever had. Also the olive focaccia and the butter is amazing. Also definitely try the mocktails they are terrific!! Love this place and crave it all the time :)

This place is a little out of the way, but some of the pastas are somewhat unique. I'm not sure I'd go back unless I try the truffle menu. The restaurant is a little on the small side, but feels like a cozy family owned spot. The server had some good recommendations since we wanted to order 3 pastas. The duck pasta stood out most in terms of flavor even though it doesn't look the most appetizing. I was also surprised by the hazelnut cake which had great texture from the chocolate and hazelnut cream on top.

This place made my birthday feel like magic! My boyfriend surprised me with dinner at Osteria Carlina Tribeca, and it ended up being one of the best meals I've had in NYC. From the moment we walked in, the hospitality was top-tier. We were greeted and seated by the manager, TJ, who was so kind and welcoming. Our server, Vincent, was super attentive and warm all night, and Felipe also made sure we were well taken care of. We started with bubbles and the focaccia fatta in casa -- soft, warm, and paired with whipped butter that melted right in. For starters, we had the Polpettine Langarole (SO good), the Insalata Carlina, and their special risotto balls that my boyfriend wouldn't stop raving about. For mains: the Tajarin alla Bolognese was perfectly balanced, and the Involtini di Pollo came with a rich wine reduction I'm still dreaming about. We wrapped things up with their tiramisu (classic and delicious) and two cocktails -- an espresso martini and the Sergio Leone -- both made by the amazing bartender Kenny. Huge thanks to Chef Ivan for such a beautifully prepared meal. Every dish was full of care and flavor, and the entire experience just felt special. I'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu. Grazie mille, Osteria Carlina!

Seemed pretty similar to the West Village location except a bit smaller inside. People say it's noisy but I was with a group of fourteen so my comment on that is not relevant. Don't be fooled by the weirdly depressed rating, this is one of the best Italian restaurants in the neighborhood.

Nelson was great, 0asta was fresh and perfect, we will return. Great vibe, loud BUT easy to talk and hang out!

This is a quaint restaurant in Tribeca. There were not too many table but a nice size bar. The wait staff was very attentive and kept refilling our water glasses. When you need a recommendation, the manager is there to help. We had the pizza and octopus to start and then proceeded to the lobster tortellini, beef cheeks, and the risotto. The main course was the amazing sea bass, and short ribs. Of course we had to have dessert though we were pretty full. Tiramisu, chocolate cake with ice cream, crème bulee. We had a relaxing, enjoyable meal. Hope to come back at the spring progresses.

Lovely meal here tonight. Staff were great and there is an understated elegance that makes this restaurant really cosy and comfortable. The food was maybe not quite as good as we expected, but there were a few stand outs. The toppings on the soup were delicious, and the truffle fries were also very good. The pasta had a nice sauce and the carpaccio was light and fresh. I'd go back and sit at the bar next time, get a drink and a main course and enjoy the atmosphere.

Lovely neighborhood spot for inspired cooking. The 5 hour bolognese is sublime, I could eat that every time I go. The special summer peach crumble was a solid 100 point desert. Long live the crumb.

Delicious food in an intimate setting. Perfect for a family or business meal. Incredible menu with care given to people with food allergies. Attentive staff and great wine. Highly recommend!

Love this place! Authentic and delicious Italian food with a great wine selection. If you sit at the bar say hi to Kenny...he will help you choose a nice glass of wine. All the pastas are great and you must get the focaccia bread!

The restaurant jams in as many tables as they can resulting in a rather unrelaxed, noisy, chaotic environment. Sort of like eating in a subway car. The food was actually very good, albeit the dishes came out late and some were cold. When we sent back one cold dish to be reheated they did not bother to bring it back. The prices are high; i would have expected a much better experience. This is my 2nd time there and I do not expect to come back.

Phenomenal. The service, food and atmosphere is beyond amazing. We enjoyed every minute of our dining experience.

Our 3rd New Year's Eve and, as always lovely. I think this year was the best yet, all 3 of us loved our appetizers and entrees. The wine was good although the mark up is far too high. Salad was tasty and the agnelotti hit the spot. Wait staff and ambience were great, I do miss the outside, heated attached shed but alas, times change.

Awesome place! Great food, service, and ambiance. It's very comfortable inside and nice. The food was amazing!!!! The cocktails were 10/10. On top of that, they had an Italian singer there last night (Sunday) who was spectacular! I highly recommend it. You'll be spending some coin but it's well worth it.

If you want a loud place full of corporate diners bores, a rushed unprofessional service (taking your wine glass right away when you finish your drink - go for my hand next time!), harassing text messages worse than your mom when you were a teenager (1h30 for a party of 2 no more! Text us if you're 10 min late! Press 1 to confirm! We'll charge you if you don't show up!)... all this for an oversalted terrible food at a hefty price, come to Osteria Carlina Tribeca. I agree with the person who wrote that positive reviews must be fake. They must! The food is REALLY a shame, the crowd is subpar, and the room is unbearably loud. We asked the manager twice if he could lower the music and twice he pretended he would but, of course, did not. That's service for you. Meanwhile, the head waiter - the only decent staff person - had no voice left, obviously suffering from having to shout all evening long to say the specials that no one could hear so no one ordered. Did I say it was L-O-U-D? I guess that's why they charged us twice for one dish, they just could not hear us say 'one'. Though, at this point, we did not want to eat anything double from such a lousy place. We quicked ourselves out fast and we'll never be back.

I'm pretty sure most of the reviews are fake as this is the worst restaurant experience I've had in NYC. The food was not cooked and both main dishes that my guest and I ordered were sent back to the kitchen (Agnolotti and the Tonnato). They replaced these with the Pollo alla Valdostana which was widely inedible. The bartender was very nice but the drinks were also not good. I paid for the meal and tipped well despite the awful experience and then notified the manager the next day that they were just probably having an off day (July 4th) in an email, and instead of apologizing he sent me an email back with insults.

We came to this TriBeCa locations and west village in the last year many times and were very dissatisfied this time, service was ok but not like before and food was horrible, such a pity because it used to be one of our favourite Italians. No flavour and small portions, dishes don't make sense. Very weird experience, I do not know what changed but was not like before, what a pity.

I hosted a 14-person family-style wine pairing dinner at Osteria Carlina's Tribeca restaurant. I worked with Tess, their event coordinator, and TJ, their Sommelier, to craft a 4-course meal. Our group was warmly by Raul, the manager, and Nelson, the head waiter, kept the service on point throughout the meal. The wines matched wonderfully with each course. Each dish was very good to outstanding with plenty of food for all. Our team kept the bartender busy and all the cocktails were perfect. I highly recommend this team and venue for your events or a fabulous date night dinner.

One of the best Italian place in the city and definitely a neighborhood staple! Great for a date night or a special celebration. Highly recommend!

Food was excellent but maitre'd was awful. They advertise that they want parties of 4 or more to finish within 2 hours. After an hour and 40 minutes he came over and asked us to leave saying the next party had been waiting for 30 minutes. Even after we had ordered two bottles of wine. Have eaten at hundreds of NYC restaurants and never treated so badly.

Major disappointment. Not worth the time , money or calories. No dish was executed well. The menu leads you to believe you are about to have high quality authentic Italian food. What you get is subpar flavors made with third rate ingredients. Even the bread services is subpar. To add insult to injury it is over priced . We tried truffle pasta which was cardboard with butter, chicken liver pasta , Barolo risotto, beef cheeks and scallops all far below standards of a basic trattoria and this restaurant claims to be Osteria.

I happen to be in the neighborhood on-location for a film shoot and while searching around the neighborhood for a place to eat on our dinner break I really just picked this restaurant by random ...and omg I am so glad I did! To be fair, they had just opened for dinner so I did have the entire place to myself which meant I had the staff all to myself and they were all incredibly attentive ...they were so kind and truly genuine that I have the feeling they would have been so even if it were packed. Nelson was my main server and he was so helpful with recommendations... he was able to make recommendations that I didn't even know I wanted but somehow he knew and he was 100% correct in everything! (I am a bit of a hardcore creature of habit and don't usually deviate from my preferences but I didn't even mind) They did not have the bourbon I wanted but his suggestion made me not even care. He said he had "something comparable" and quite frankly I wouldn't even had known it was not my favorite if he hadn't told me. I ordered the Filetto di manzo and it was superbly cooked (even the temp was not how I usually preferred it but again Nelson knew how it would be best and again he was right!) and the first bite was the kind that just makes you pause and want to savor the moment. I ordered a side of mashed potatoes and quite frankly I can't even describe how good they were. I wasn't going to get dessert but I overheard Nelson describing the homemade ladyfingers in the Tiramisu and I just had to get one to go! I cannot recommend this place enough. It will now take its place on my top 3 favorite restaurants in NYC. I can't wait to go back and try more of their menu. Thank you Nelson!
