New Restaurants and Bars That Have Opened in San Diego | Eater San Diego

"An Italian restaurant at the base of the El Cortez building offering a large selection of antipasti from carpaccio to calamari and arancini, along with meat and cheese boards, fresh pasta, and flatbreads; its happy hour runs daily from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., and all bottles from its California and Italian wine list are half-off on Wednesdays." - Candice Woo

Google
What a delightful place. It’s located a bit up the hill from downtown SD on a nice quiet corner. Service was spot on perfect. Food is terrific with a nice, reasonable wine selection. I had the lasagne bolognese and it was as good as any I have ever had. Appetizer was fried calamari and it was good but maybe not the absolute best I’ve ever eaten. They need to work on how they cook that one. The cannoli for dessert was excellent as was the espresso. The interior itself is very nicely appointed, quiet and pleasant. Great place for a nice romantic date and there were a number of well dressed couples in the place doing exactly that. Next time I’m in town with my wife I will be sure to do the same. The patio looks great as well.

Amazing family owned Italian restaurant with great dishes. The homemade pasta was amazing. It is a small place. It feels like you are eating dinner with friends. Our server Sergio was excellent! We will definitely be back.

Authentic Italian Gem Near the San Diego Symphony! We had an incredible dinner at Osteria Cotto e Mangiato on Friday, October 17th, and it truly felt like we’d flown to Italy for the evening. We selected this restaurant for its proximity to the San Diego Symphony, and it exceeded every expectation. From the moment we called to move our reservation from 5:30 to 6:30, the staff was so kind and accommodating. We arrived at 6:15 and mentioned our show started at 7:30, and they made sure our meal was beautifully served by 6:30 — we finished right on time. We enjoyed the Frittura Mista (crispy calamari, shrimp, lemon, mustard aioli, and marinara), the Fettuccine Alfredo e Pollo (perfectly creamy Alfredo with roasted organic chicken), and a flatbread topped with prosciutto and assorted meats that was absolutely delicious. The service was warm and genuine, the ambiance relaxed yet elegant, and the flavors truly authentic. A big thank you to Andrea Provino and the team for such a memorable experience. We can’t wait to come back!

I loved this place. I happened upon it after a matinee at the Jacobs Symphony Hall. Little did I know they have a daily happy hour, so I was within that time (ends at 5pm). I ordered spaghetti, my favorite go to meal and how I rate all Italian restaurants, and this did not disappoint! The best spaghetti I've had in a long time. I love how it was served, in a pan. My friend and I also shared a Caesar salad and some garlic bread. Wine was happy hour price too! Our sever, Antonio, was very nice and accommodating. The restaurant was busy, but we were served in a reasonable time. I didn't order the cheese wheel, but it sure looked good. Next time 🙂 It was a special night and I will be back!!

I came here a year ago. So good I came back and brought my family too. I personally am very picky when it comes to Italian food, it is really really good. Honestly the best I've had in the states. The sauce is authentic, amazing flavors. Kids loved it too and something on the menu for all of us. Wine menu is always great and they have listed what pairs with food to perfection. Do not pass up on trying the sausage or the meatballs. Relaxing and calm environment. Dog friendly as well even a menu for your fur baby. I didnt get before photos(excited to eat)

Google
Had an amazing experience here while visiting San Diego! I don’t typically love going out for Italian food or pasta because I like making it at home, but because we were traveling and it was right across the street from our hotel, we decided to try. I am so happy we did because the Cacio e Pepe was some of the best pasta I have ever had. Creamy, flavorful, and great portion sizes. We also had the garlic bread and I would highly recommend, it was delicious. Aside from the outstanding food, our server, Isa, was lovely. She was attentive and friendly, we had a great conversation with her while getting our bill. Our table was seated outside and nice and comfortable. When we come back to San Diego, we will definitely be back!

Google
10/10, the owner was very attentive throughout the whole experience. Shared some history about the location, how his project became a reality. Food was incredibly DELICIOUS!!!, and got a personal tour of the restaurant at the end. Highly recommended, let’s support great businesses like this. Keep the great work A, thank you for making me feel like family! 🙏🏻🙏🏻👍🏻

Yelp
The food is amazing! Our waitress, Basia, was sweet and attentive. The restaurant itself was decorated nicely, the music was festive. The busboy's were also quick and attentive. While we were in San Diego we ate here three times. Would highly highly recommend

Yelp
Fabulous experience, great food, wonderful service, would definitely recommend to anyone staying in downtown SD. The happy hour deals are great, the drinks are tasty and Diego the GM was such a great host to us. Thanks for the wonderful meal!!

Yelp
Excellent service and great food! Our waitress Isa was friendly, professional and attentive. Lasagna and spaghetti meatball plates were amazing.

Yelp
We chose Osteria Cotto e Mangiato because it's on the San Diego Symphony's list of premier dining partners (with a 15% discount for symphony-goers) and it's conveniently located just two blocks from the concert hall. The menu looked appealing, and the location made it an easy pre-concert choice. First visit: We were seated immediately and greeted quickly. Since we had reviewed the menu ahead of time, we placed our drink, appetizer, and entrée orders all at once after water was poured. Drinks took a while to arrive, and then--surprisingly--our entrées came out before the appetizer. We couldn't get our server's attention, so we started eating our entrées. Eventually, we flagged down another staff member to ask about the missing appetizer. By the time our server finally came back to the table, we had finished our entrées, had not been offered drink refills, and still didn't have our appetizer. The appetizer arrived roughly 45 minutes after it was ordered. The server never checked in on our meal and only returned to close out the bill. We chalked this up to a potentially busy night because, despite everything, the food itself was good. Second visit: Wanting to give them a fair second chance, we returned a few weeks later. Again, we were seated immediately and greeted promptly. This time, we deliberately paced our order--wine and an appetizer first--and clearly told the server we would wait to order entrées until the appetizer arrived. Thirty minutes passed with no drinks and no appetizer. When the server returned to ask if we wanted to order entrées, we reminded her we were still waiting on both the appetizer and our drinks. Another 15 minutes went by with nothing. A manager stopped by, and we honestly explained the situation. His response was a cold, non-solution apology, along with a comment that many other people have good experiences here--an inappropriate and dismissive response given the circumstances. Shortly after, the drinks and appetizer finally arrived, the appetizer was thankfully still warm and tasty, and once ordered, the entrées were delicious. We really want to like this restaurant. The food is genuinely good, and the staff we interacted with were kind. Unfortunately, across two visits, the service and pacing issues were consistent and significant. There appears to be a serious breakdown in management and front-of-house logistics. With better oversight and coordination, this could easily be a standout dining option near the Symphony--but until then, it's hard to recommend if timing and attentive service matter to you, especially before an event.

Yelp
It was our last dinner in San Diego and it was absolutely amazing! My boyfriend and I were greeted by the owner immediately at arrival and were seated right away. We ordered mimosas, peach belinis, meatballs, house Bread, the cheesewheel pasta, lobster Ravioli, affogato and tiramisu

Yelp
I got the spaghetti carbonara and it was really good. The papardelle bolognese, however, was a little over cooked seeing as the noodles were breaking easily. We also got meatballs as an appetizer and they were good! The table we were sitting at was very wobbly and the ones next to us were also wobbly so we decided to move to a different table. The ambiance was nice but I will say it was a bit stuffy in there. Overall, service was okay and food was okay. I would give it a 3.5/5.

Yelp
Quaint Italian restaurant. Their pastas are well-made, cooked to the perfect al dente texture. Flavors were a tad bit subdued, maybe missing some umami quality to it. Their ribeye dish was a highlight -- the meat was incredibly tender with breading that adds a nice crunch. I would like to come back to try more of their dishes, for a more full assessment of the place. ;)

Yelp
I liked this place quite a bit! In particular, the Lobster Thermidor pasta is fairly unique and tasted great. The portions are also HUGE -- I had a hard time finishing the plate that I got simply because there was just so much lobster and pasta. My friend also had difficulty finishing all of his pasta because it was also a huge plate. I do wish that they would perhaps tone down the cream used in the Lobster pasta. Put some San Marzano tomatoes in there and let the tomato x seafood combo really shine! With a bit of white wine sauce, I think that could be a real winner in their dinner rotation. The current version is just too heavy once you get halfway through and I think there's also cheese on top of the lobster which adds to the richness.

Yelp
Casual-Cozy & light-hearted romantic environment. The Gnocchi was absolutely delicious and the spaghetti w meatballs excellent and artichoke salad balanced and refreshing. Isa gave us friendly, kind & cheerful service. Would highly recommend! Will be back on our next trip to San Diego!

Yelp
My thoughts: This is a traditional classic Italians restaurant that is been around the San Diego area through out the up and down of the economy. Plus they do serve good traditionally Italian food and maintain a reasonable price. Here is my scoring card for this restaurant: 1) Location: ( 5 Point ) - Great location for customer to see and find. Great parking for street parking and side parking. 2) Decoration : (2 Point) - They still have the original decoration. Clean but not up to date. 3) Price: ( 4 point)- The price is competitive but still a little bit pricey compare to other same stars and type food they serve 4) Quality and Taste : ( 3 point)- The quality is ok, food taste is good and portions are average . 5) Type of cuisine standard : ( 4 point) - The style of italian food they serve is pretty close to the way it was prepare in Italy. Not bad! But some dishes did have slightly modify to cater the customer's need Overall it's not bad and I thinks it's great to give it a try and let me know what you think. Go foodies

Yelp
Probably one of my favorite spots for Italian cuisine. It always tastes like Nonna is cooking your meal. We grabbed an early dinner before our comedy show on Saturday. I was torn between lasagna or Carbonara so I let the server decide. We got Evian because Aqua Panna is not delivering to San Diego? My friend order the Gnocchi Cacio e Pepe. We enjoyed ever last bite of our meal and even finished it off with a cannoli. Service is always excellent, space is charming/cozy and food is delicious. That's a winning combination. Can't wait to try almost everything on the menu.

Yelp
Ended up at Osteria Cotto e Mangiato last minute after our plans fell through. I'm always intrigued by the restaurants that make it to the bottom floor of El Cortez. It's a cool location and a different view point of SD. This time around we visited an Italian Cucina. The atmosphere was lively, it appears they get a good number of theatre/symphony goers. The place is cozy with a bit of 90s vibes. Like it could be a cafe or a wine bar. The restaurant itself is smaller. They do have a lot of outdoor seating options. The service was a little slow for a Saturday night. It took them a minute to acknowledge our table. Once they did things went smoothly. The food: Meatballs-Polpette- nice and warm. A good appetizer. Tortellini Emiliani, cheese tortellini in cream sauce with. Good, but the cream definitely took overtook the flavors of the dish. Lasagna- good and satisfying! Not high end Italian food but definitely satisfies the pasta craving.

Yelp
Made a reservation for 7pm. Walked up with another party in front of us, 3 different people came up to the counter but never acknowledged either parties. Noticed us closer to 7, not with a fretting just with "2?" And immediately sat. Sat on a corner wall table with my chair back touching the family behind me with a table/booth, very inconsiderate spot for layout. Server took about 10 minutes to check in with us and all we asked for was water still took him another 10 minutes to come back, while forgetting the water. Another waiter had to keep chucking in with us to see if we've been helped because our server hardly ever did. He just seemed frazzled and out of it. Food is subpar Italian, not sure if it's worth the price but probably good just for casual or family dinner. $156 total with tip.

Yelp
I dined here on New Year's Eve and sat at the bar. We received wonderful service from Isa. She was very attentive and sweet. The food was delicious. I would absolutely go back. The restaurant itself is very cute and cozy. I loved the holiday decorations. A very lovely Italian restaurant all in all.

Yelp
Shhh... secret's out! Tucked away in the heart of Cortez Hill, right at the base of the historic El Cortez Hotel, is one of San Diego's best-kept brunch secrets: Mamma's Brunch at Osteria Cotto e Mangiato--and it's too good not to share. Every Friday, Saturday & Sunday from 10am-3pm, this cozy Italian spot transforms into a dreamy brunch escape, complete with an adorable patio perfect for soaking up the sun and sipping cocktails with friends. And if you love brunch, don't sleep on dinner! Their dinner menu is packed with authentic Italian dishes made with love and passion--perfect for date night, a cozy evening with friends, or anytime you're craving real-deal Italian comfort food. Huge thank you to Andrea and the team for the warm hospitality and delicious experience. Your heart shows up in every bite!

Yelp
I had the fortunate experience to try a sample of pasta from this place at a Yelp event and I knew I had to go! My friend was in town and on his last night he wanted Italian so I said we should try this place! I am so glad we did! We came in on a Thursday night around 5pm. Parking was great and there was no wait more was it crowded. We were seated quickly and the server was so kind. He recommended the Prosciutto Bruschetta as an appetizer which so good. The bread was toasted and still sour soft and the burrata was so fresh. I had not eaten all day and it was such a nice first dish! For entres we ordered the Rigatoni Carbonara and the Penne Vodka with chicken. The Rigatoni Carbonara was probably the best I have ever had. It was so creamy and so so good! The pancetta had such great flavor as well and cooked perfectly. The Penne Vodka was a perfect tomato creamy balance with such a delicious sauce! And the pasta in both these dishes was home made and cooked so perfectly! I was in heaven! If we weren't in a time crunch I would have ordered or tried other dishes. I cannot wait to come back!

Yelp
I was totally wowed by the authenticity of this restaurant. My friend recommended to go here. The food was out of this world. The service was excellent! Fas polite helpful and eager. The restaurant although small left you with a classic Italian restaurant out of Italy not America. The owner proud of his heritage and opportunity in the city. 100% recommend and will return. Also although a preference the house red wine was excellent! And recommend. Don't leave without desert!

Yelp
If you have the opportunity to go during happy hour, I would highly recommend going then. There's far less patrons and the prices are just flat out better. I had the lasagna bolognese which is more lasagna than it is bolognese, traditionally. So if you're not looking for incredibly rich and cheesy go for the regular bolognese. I also had the limoncello spitz and the minty melon beverage. Both hit the spot. I had the pannacotta for a treat. It had good texture and flavor. The jam on top was a perfect pairing. I'd have liked slightly more jam as I did run out and I found myself using it sparingly. I returned a second time because I wanted to try the espresso martini. I did enjoy the martini and (something I rarely find) the topped beans were NOT stale. Thank you for that...seriously. I ordered the tiramisu to go this time and while the service of this family ran restaurant is unmatched I will say the tiramisu was a bad choice. It was super saturated and overly topped with cocoa powder. But don't let that stop you from going. The service is sincere and food is good, aside from the tiramisu. Hope you find yourself here like I did

Yelp
Everything was amazing! So amazing we went back a second night for dinner. Great food, wine and service! Loved the music playing. Found ourselves singing along. I would certainly recommend, especially if you're staying at the Marriott down the block. Quick 5 minute walk.

Yelp
Was fiending for some pasta and stumbled across a pretty solid gem. Was dining alone and their patio seating was beautiful. My server was superb. Absolutely excellent service. Gave great recommendations, was prompt, happy to cut it up, and made sure I was satisfied the entire ride. I got the grilled artichokes(per my server) and they were insane. Crispy, rich, and slightly citrusy. Perfectly salted and buttered. A great starter. For the main I had one of their ravioli dishes with ham and peas. The sauce was a white wine cream sauce. It was velvety, creamy and all around great. I had some garlic bread to accompany as well. all in all, a fantastic dinner. Would definitely go back if I am ever in the area

Yelp
Wow! My socks are knocked off! I think this is my favorite Italian restaurant here in San Diego. My family went for Christmas dinner and it did not disappoint. Everything from the location, to interior design, art, great music, and the food is impeccable!!! Every single thing I tasted was divine from the butternut squash soup to the chicken Marsala and Tiramisu. Fabulous..not to mention good parking!!! Thoroughly impressed! The service was top notch as well.
google avatar

Paige S.

Yelp
Great food but I got glutened here and miss the event I came to San Diego for. I think it was some cross contamination. I had gluten free penne Alfredo and a caprese salad. Both were good until later when I was sick. My friend said the classic bread was really good and her Caesar salad was good and her husband really like the chicken Marsala. Cute restaurant, reminded me of Italy. Server was friendly and helpful.

Larry P.

Yelp
Food and ambiance are great. Sat at the bar and had great service. The lasagna bolognese was recommended and excellent. Tiramisu was maybe the best I've ever had. Prices are average for a restaurant like this. Walked there so I'm unsure of the parking
google avatar

Yelp
From the moment we arrived to the minute we left we experienced exceptional service by staff. The restaurant is charming and staff so friendly. Outdoor or indoor dining is available. We stayed at the Marriott Vacation Club 1 block away and this restaurant offers 10% off up to $30. Prices were on point for the value and the experience. We made a reservation the day before. Two of us shared the cheese wheel which was to die for. The salmon, seafood stew, rigatoni, lasagna, and pasta primavera were all exceptional. Rich sauces you can taste the homemade love. We ordered two side salads which were large enough to share amongst all 8 of us. We ordered a plate of garlic and regular bread which was a piece for each of us which was the perfect amount to go with the rich buttery, lemony, creamy, meat sauces. We all agreed this was a top 10 dining experience.
google avatar

Gene L.

Yelp
We came here for dinner upon our friend's recommendation. She came here previously and had a great dinner, plus said the service was great and she met the owner. We had the meatlovers flatbread and cioppino which were both delicious! Our friends had the chicken pesto flatbread and burrata. The location is great - on 7th and Ash right at the base of the iconic El Cortez hotel. The service was attentive and friendly. We also had a bottle of house red cabernet. The decor is good, perhaps on the smaller side but there is outdoor seating too. We met the manager Salvatore who was very friendly and told us he is from Napoli. We would come here again!
google avatar

Brandon L.

Yelp
The service here was fantastic and I liked the ambiance. However, the pasta was very soft and overcooked. In addition, the meatball had way too much breading and was mushy was well. However, the sauce was balanced and tasted good. The calamari was standard and hit the baseline I expect from an italian restaurant. I'll be open to giving this spot another chance as I'm pretty sure that this is just a one off occurrence that the pasta was overcooked. The other pastas looked good.
google avatar

JM L.

Yelp
This place was amazing! The food was fantastic, the service impeccable, and the ambiance top notch. The Caesar salad was a great starter followed by the Pappardelle Bolognese, which was beyond delicious! We topped it off with one of the best Crème Brûlées we've ever had. If you live in the area, or are just visiting, this place is a must!

Kaya K.

Yelp
The food looked pathetic, appetizers were closer to $20 a plate and tasted like cheap Chinese take out fried zucchini. Pasta sauce tasted like store bought for a $40 pasta. Service is ok, but definitely not trained properly for the "high end" priced menu. Cheesecake Factory level but expect to spend over $120.

Yelp
We were looking for a place to eat before catching a show at the Civic Theatre and came across this place! It's a very cute spot in a pretty convenient location! We were helped by the sweetest server, Isa, who was super friendly and accommodating! We were in a bit of a rush to make our show, and not only was the service quick, but above and beyond. As for the food you can't really go wrong! The salad we ordered to start was super fresh and all the pasta dishes we ordered were great! I ordered the penne vodka with chicken and it was very solid. For dessert we had a Lemon cake that was super moist and tasty! Would definitely come back on a future visit!
google avatar

Matthew G.

Yelp
This place is sooo cute! We came in because of the great reviews and wasn't let down. We got sat instantly once we arrived. Our server, Isa, is super friendly and sweet. She grabbed us all waters and chatted with us as we ordered. The menu has a lot of yummy food to choose from as well! We ordered a house salad to begin with and it was soo good. The pastas and chicken was also delicious! They came out in the sauce pans they were cooked in :D We definitely will be back! Thanks again Isa!!!

Kate M.

Yelp
Very odd place. We made a reservation for 7pm and arrived around 6:55pm. Upon arrival host seemed to be overwhelmed and asked us to wait. Fine, no problem but tables were available. Once we were seated, our server right away shared that they were understaffed and there were some operational challenges in the restaurant. We ordered ice teas and asked for water. I believe their ice machine was broken and anything that contained ice tasted like....staled vegetable mixture. Pretty awful flavor for water or ice tea. We ended up returning all the drinks and opted in for bottled water. Cheese wheel was amazing but that's the only positive thing about this place.
google avatar

Moe D.

Yelp
Very cute restaurant and I love the decor. The food was amazingly good! I've seen the cheese wheels all over social media and I have always wanted to try it. And the cheese wheel did not disappoint. It was good! Had the gnocchi with chicken. The service was great and attentive . We will be back.

Yelp
had such a wonderful dining experience With Isa! From start to finish, everything was exceptional. We started with a fresh tomato and white truffle salad that was perfectly balanced. The pasta Alfredo was rich and creamy without being too heavy, truly comfort food done right. The meatballs amazing they paired beautifully with the glass of Cabernet Sauvignon we enjoyed. We will definitely be back plenty of times!!
google avatar

Dung N.

Yelp
We had reservations and were seated promptly when we arrived. I got a mocktail and he just wanted some iced tea to start with. For starters, I ordered the beef carpaccio and meatballs. Both dishes were pretty good! We shared the spaghetti pomodoro and filet medallions for our main courses. The entrees were okay- nothing really stood out for me. For dessert, we decided on the affogato. Service could've been better, but I understand that when I went, they were pretty new, so hopefully everything improved since then.

Paul R.

Yelp
At 5pm on a Friday, the service was barely adequate. Seated immediately as walk-ins, but then ignored for about five minutes. Ordered a $40-bottle of Chianti--the least expensive bottle on the menu--which was barely drinkable. Unlike the wine, the calamari was a Goodyear--as in rubbery. Probably the worst calamari I've ever had at a restaurant. Waiter recommended the lasagna as something people come back for.Ot was fine, but not worth $27 per slice. Overall, the food was all edible but not great, and certainly not worth the price. Website menu was not accurate to what was offered, especially for cocktails (online featured a bunch of different spritzes, but only limoncello was available in person). Definitely will not be returning.

Yelp
Isa makes the best espresso martinis cheers! Always a smile & a positive attitude by the team.

Yelp
This is the BEST Italian food we've ever had and we've been to Italy. Our server, Antonio, was amazing also. Started with the meatballs with marina sauce and garlic bread - the meatballs were amazing! Moist, delicious and wonderful seasoning! My husband ordered the chicken parm and I had the salmon vino blanco (white wine) - we shared and couldn't decide which we liked better - they were both so del Had the lemon cake with strawberries for dessert - yum!! Everything exceeded all expectations. This is a little restaurant in San Diego in from of the old El Cortez hotel - great ambiance, exceptional food and service. Definitely an A++ rating. Would come here again as our first choice!

Yelp
I made our reservation in advance from my Lazy Boy in Reno and I was not disappointed! Our server, Sergio was amazing! From suggesting a perfect wine to compliment our dinner to just making our experience delightful he truly made our night. We started with Prosciutto Bruschetta that was delicious. Two crostini with prosciutto, burrata, and fig jam. My husband ordered the Tortellini Emiliani and I had the Caesar Salad with a Salmon add both were huge portions and very tasty. The meal ended with an order of tiramisu which was enough for us to share. Thank you Sergio for an unforgettable dining experience.

Yelp
My brother and I took our mom here for her birthday dinner and Osteria Cotto e Mangiato might be my new favorite Italian restaurant for pasta! Parking: Paid street parking only. Since it's located further away from the main downtown SD area, there were still a good amount of parking available even on a Friday night. Service/Ambiance: Wonderful service from our main server Lidia, along with those who served us our food, drinks, and the cheese wheel pasta. It's a very small and intimate restaurant, very nice ambiance inside. There were 2-4 person tables inside and a handful more tables outside with heaters. We saw a party of 6 while we were there, so I imagine it could work for a little bigger group. I suggest making a reservation! The restaurant and bathrooms were very clean. Food: -Fritto Misto ($22.95): fried Calamari served with marinara and aioli. Perfect starter to share with the table -Cheese Wheel Pasta with Gnocchi (market price) + add Sausage ($4): You can choose between gnocchi or fettuccine pasta, then you can also add in protein. They roll out the cheese wheel and prepare the dish in front of the table. This was sooo good and creamy! Don't be fooled by the smallish plate it's served in-- it was very filling! We ended up having leftovers. -Tortellini di Lobster e Shrimp ($35.99): This was also so yummy. Fresh creamy burrata served on top and they include a decent amount of shrimp. -Pesto Flatbread ($18.95): 4 large squares, also perfect to share. -Caesar Salad ($11.95): This tasted good but was smaller than I expected for the price. -Limoncello cake: They served this for my mom's birthday and it has the perfect combo of tang and sweetness! Overall: Love this place and will definitely come back for the pasta and to also try out their happy hour menu! Wonderful service. Go check them out!

Yelp
F¥€{ this place, go to Romanissimo Cucina Italiana instead. Never had worse service at a restaurant. Romanissimo has great food and better service. Re: "targeted harassment": When you mess up this badly with a big party there are lots of upset people. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My husband and i loved our food we got the classic bruschetta as a starter, lasagna, tortellini, captains treasure chest which is seafood ravioli. BUSSSSSS DOWWWNNNN ‍ to drink we had the beer and i had something super refreshing i cant remember what the name was. But it had mint leafs and it was sweet and super refreshing.

Yelp
Visiting from Las Vegas and we were fortunate enough to stumble upon this outstanding Italian spot. The food was just as impressive as the ambience and service. It was so good we came back 2 days later. Sergio and Isa were our servers. They were so welcoming. We had the Linguini and clams and the risotto. The limoncello cake was delicious. The tiramisu came in a cute espresso pot. This will be a must go to every time we visit San Diego. You will enjoy this spot 1000%.

Yelp
little gem on cortez hill that brings a much needed go-to spot in this quiet area of the city. Loved the carbonara and all other creamy pastas. The espresso martinis are a huge sleeper item here so make room for dessert. Depending on date/time, you can score some good free parking in the cortez area.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic experience at Osteria Cotto e Mangiato! The service from Andrea (owner) was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Every dish we ordered was incredible-from the rich, comforting Carbonara w/anchovies to the Captain's Treasure chest is unexplainable good, everything was cooked to perfection. You can really taste the quality and care in each bite. This place is a gem in San Diego for anyone craving authentic Italian cuisine. Oh, by the way, did I mention the Tiramisu... WOW!! Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
The food was fantastic, and the service was top notch. The ambiance was soothing. I could not have asked for a better accidental dinner destination! I will be eating here every time I come to San Diego!
