Elio Volpe - Review - Fairview - Vancouver - The Infatuation

"Elio Volpe is the more casual companion to Fraserhood Italian date spotSavio Volpe, and it’s a lot easier to get a table, too, which is part of why we prefer it. Both are excellent, but you come to this Fairview pizza and pasta joint to load up on some carbs (and Negronis) with a couple friends, no occasion necessary. The pastas here lean heavy, like the calabreselli alla vodka thickened up with stracciatelle and then cut by acidic pepperoncini peppers, while the pizzas are the opposite. These pies are marvels of engineering, razor-thin but somehow sturdy, like if a New York slice respawned in Naples. The salty-sweet pepperoni is among the best in Vancouver, but if you really want to be wowed, go for the clam white pizza, studded with sausage and sprinkled with parsley that tastes how you always imagined New England would." - Andrew Ryce

Initially reserved bar seating but since someone else canceled last minute we were able to sit at a table. The interior design is spacious and contemporary which makes a comfortable dining experience, there are many seating options but noise levels can be elevated during busy hours. Culinary Italian favourites, seasonal menu changes, with a small hint of Asian cuisine influence. The drinks are pretty good. Porcelain dishware is practical but nothing fancy. Service was also really good!

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Elio Volpe and I’m so glad we did! They started off by giving us a cute card and some champagne which was very sweet! Our server was incredible and the bartenders were also very nice (we sat at the bar). The whole dinner ran so smoothly. We had the “cook for us” option and it did not disappoint! Everything was delicious! The portions of food were perfect! Everything tasted amazing and it was good quality food. Everything was worth the price here. They also make incredible dirty martinis. Thank you for having us! We will definitely be back.

Had an amazing brunch experience at Osteria Elio Volpe in Vancouver. The space itself is modern, bright, and beautifully designed, with warm wood accents and a relaxed but refined atmosphere. It feels both stylish and comfortable, perfect for enjoying a slow meal with friends. The food was the real highlight. We started with their Eggs Benedict — perfectly poached eggs with a rich, silky hollandaise that spilled over tender lobster and fresh greens. The crispy potatoes on the side were addictive, with a crunchy exterior and soft inside. The large pizza came out hot and fragrant, loaded with toppings like smoky bacon, mushrooms, herbs, and just the right amount of cheese — thin crust with a little char that gave it a beautiful texture. For something lighter, the waffle topped with fresh berries, edible flowers, and a drizzle of custard cream was a delightful finish — sweet but balanced, and plated beautifully. Even the little details stood out, like the complimentary star-shaped cookie and the iced chocolate drink with citrus zest that felt refreshing and unique. Every dish we had looked as good as it tasted, and the service was attentive without being rushed. This was one of those meals where everything — from the ambiance to the flavors — came together perfectly.

We didn't make any reservations, but managed to get a table right when it opened at 10am for brunch. The menu had so many choices, where we picked the braised pork with sides big plate and a fried chicken small plate — both tender and flavorful meat. While the dishes leaned heavily into savory notes, a touch of sweetness would have elevated the balance. The service was warm and attentive, and the ambience was stunning, with high ceilings and an elegant, airy atmosphere. A nice sweet complimentary ice cream dessert came at the end, perfect for two for the sweet finish I was craving. We've also heard dinner is equally delicious, can’t wait to come back and try that!

Went with 3 adults and an infant, the reservations were made by my friend and they were informed it would take 30min and they would call you back. That actually never happened and we walked in to check to see how long it would take. We were then informed that we were okay to dine provided all members were there. Originally we were three adults and an infant squished in a corner table that was supposed to be seated for two. The server at our zone was very friendly and accommodating with our request to sit in another section where other patrons left. I did not get her name, but she was very helpful with recommendations for the meal selection as it was our first time there. Due to the different zones, we were swapped with another server and unfortunately the tips would not be going to the original server. After placing our orders from the recommendations, the thing that stood out to our party was the pork. The salad was mediocre and could be better paired with smoked salmon instead of fruits. Our appetizer and pasta was great, but not outstanding. The pizza was good and I personally think the crust could be a bit more thicker to hold the ingredients on properly. Consider this a fine dining experience with complimentary sparkling water, but the place was somewhat too noisy to our liking as we had trouble having basic conversation at the table unless we spoke loudly. With the price ranges on the items to the food quality experience delivered, it is a solid 4 as I don't feel the overall food delivery and experience justifies a 5 star despite the one outstanding dish being the pork. Reservations did not call back my friend to confirm tables were ready and the initial seating cramped into a side gave this establishment a solid 4 with room for improvement. The noisy atmosphere made it difficult to have conversations, but overall aesthetics warrant a good 3.5.

Our server was exceptional and provided delicious recommendations. The "let us cook for you" surprised us with the portion sizes! We left stuffed and happy. Most tender pork we have ever eaten. Lastly the pizza was so good with the hot honey.

We were warmly welcomed with thoughtful service and cozy ambiance. Here’s what we enjoyed: Small Victory sourdough with seasonal preserves & brown butter - preserves Jam taste like strawberries with orange , it’s perfect not that sweet and Brown butter has my heart. Pasta del giorno (seasonal special) — perfectly al dente, rich and flavorful. Breakfast pizza — thin, crispy, and loaded with savory goodness , the potato on the base has very lovely texture. Apollini with strawberry pandan crema & toasted coconut — flaky, crispy , and the perfect sweet ending The food was delicious, the atmosphere was light and lovely, I would definitely visit again.

From the moment we stepped into Elio Volpe, we knew our anniversary dinner would be something special. Tucked away with rustic charm and elevated ambiance, this gem offered an intimate yet vibrant setting that struck the perfect balance for our celebration. The service was great, our server made thoughtful wine suggestions and even surprised us with a small complimentary appetizer to toast our evening. Every dish we ordered felt crafted with care and precision (see images below) To top off the night, the kitchen brought out a delicate dessert cake with a handwritten chocolate message that read, “Happy Anniversary.” It was a small touch that made a big impact personal, meaningful, and memorable. Elio Volpe is more than just a restaurant , it’s a place where food, service, and atmosphere align to create something truly unforgettable. We’ll definitely be back!

Yelp
Came on a Tuesday night and was seated immediately. Service was on point, no nonsense but extremely accommodating. We had come to celebrate our friends' engagement and were pleasantly surprised to have a sip of Prosecco (on the house) as a congratulatory drink! Nice touch. The food was good. Although we were extremely excited for all their pasta, what really stood out to us were the antipasti and the pizza. The shrimp carpaccio was so good, I would've licked the plate clean. Definitely will be back just for that dish. We had 4 pastas (full size) and were convinced to try a pizza and I was so glad we did. Elio Volpe took thin crust to a different level and could take the cake for best thin crust in the city! It was light, crispy, the tomato sauce with the added burrata was perfect! 100% will be back for date night to try more of their antipasti and have several more pizzas! Great experience, worth the hype!

Yelp
My cc info to book a reservation?? We've dined in some well-established restaurants around-the-world. In YVR, you want my cc, in advance?? f*%# that. Speaks volumes of your high-nosed attitude towards any clientele. (It rains plenty in YVR - dont drown yourself) Plenty of other well-established places to choose from. I fine with the plenty other options.

Yelp
Many friends told me dinner would be better than brunch or lunch. I agreed after trying the dinner last night. Their menus have a wide variety of food. We ordered a pasta (which we could choose half or full side), pizza, appetizers, and others. Each dish was very unique and tasted delicious. Usually people go here with friends, drinking, chatting and eating. Maybe couples would come here for a date. Customer service was very good and all servers were very attentive and friendly. The only thing I did not really like or enjoy was the noise. My voice had to be raised and I must speak up when talking to my friends. I felt tired talking very loudly and kept drinking water to moisturize my throat.

Yelp
We came for brunch and it was quite busy! I had the Pulled Short Rib Benny which was very tasty and accompanied by some crispy potatoes. The Mushroom Benny was a great vegetarian option. The Carbonara was super rich and creamy! The sauce was really good and I need to come back to try their dinner menu and pizzas! Be sure to make a reservation.

Yelp
We came for a birthday dinner on a Saturday. We made reservations for 630 and showed up early but our table wasn't ready yet. They have a big wait so please make reservations. Our server was really nice and came to check up on us. The courses come out one at a time and are meant for sharing. The wait time between courses can be quite long. Fritti misti (soft shell crab, striped bass, tiger prawns, lemon aioli, esplette) - very crispy and light. I liked the soft shell crab. Well seasoned Rigatoni cacio e pepe- there are 2 sizes for this the small 21 or big 38. I would recommend getting the small for each pasta dish so you can share. The rigatoni was perfectly cooked but the flavour here was a bit lacking. The savouriness of the cheddar wasn't coming through. Calabreselli alla vodka (Dungeness crab) (31)- I liked the sauce for this one. Very interesting and I could taste the crab flavour. But the pasta was way too overcooked ruining this dish Manila clam hot Italian sausage pizza (28)- not enough clams on it to call it a Manila clam pizza. I could really taste the hot Italian sausage. The dough was okay but not my favourite dish of the night. Wouldn't get the pizza again Beef with risotto - risotto was a bit too watery for me. The beef cheek was melt in your mouth tender and very delicious. It was well seasoned and addictive. I would say this was the highlight of the night As for the cocktails, we got a range of different ones. Our favourite was probably the Elio sour and the sicilian margarita (pass on the Shakerato) Overall I felt like my expectations were too high. My advice would be it's worth a try but keep your expectations low

Yelp
Mama Mia! What an absolutely steller Italian restaurant - bravo! Came in to try the weekend brunch - & yes it was absolutely splendid - so delicious & sensational. Wow, I've found one of my ultimate favourite French toasts at an Italian restaurant, Osteria Elio Volpe - go figure! LOL. The interior of the restaurant is spacious & themed out of southern Italy, with beautiful & colourful decor. It is part of the Banda Volpi restaurants - Savio Volpe & Pepino's Spaghetti House (see my review) to name a few. I could only get an online reservation at the bar, but I didn't hesitate to jump on that. The bar seating actually turned out to be a hit, as it had sight lines for the entire restaurant, making the experience quite splendid. Not only was the French Toast a hit, but the Crab & Shrimp Bowl was excellent as well. The food presentation was a pure masterclass in the art of food. I can't wait to try out the dinner menu - it looks amazing. OEV has most definitely become one of my favourite brunch spots throughout Metro Vancouver.

Yelp
I was super excited to try Elio Volpe as Savio Volpe has always been good, especially for birthdays. It did not disappoint! It is a little tricky to get reservations here as I had to book 1 month in advance, but I do think the restaurant has a lot of seating and there should be plenty of walk-in space, especially right at open on a weekday. Also, there is free street parking in the nearby neighbourhood streets. The ambiance and space is nice yet casual, and on the brighter and roomier side compared with Savio Volpe. Now onto the food. Their menu is more seafood focused than Savio, which has more meat, so the food is slightly lighter. Baccala 'mantecato' ($20): This was my favourite dish of the night. It is a creamy cod dip paired with addicting house-made lemon pepper chips. Perfect appie for sharing. Pesto spaghetti half portion ($19): Good portion for 2 to share. The pesto was flavourful, there were a lot of morel mushrooms, and the pasta was perfectly cooked al dente with a nice chew, likely from using fresh pasta. Clam pizza ($24): Maybe the only dish that didn't wow us. Wish we had ordered the pepperoni pizza instead. This was definitely a unique pizza, but there were not a lot of clams, and the style of the pizza resulted in very little sauce and cheese. Didn't seem worth it as it was mostly crust/bread, although tasty. Grilled lamb chops ($30): Three pieces of grilled lamb chops that had good char taste and a unique and crunchy chumichurri-like sauce. The size was very good. We were also offered the option to add another chop which was nice (in the end, we decided we had enough food so left it as the standard 3 piece). Service was really good. The waitress explained some of the Italian words on the menu and provided recommendations. The food came at a good pace and our water was always filled. And it was a nice touch that they brought out a complimentary birthday sundae for the occasion. The house-made gelato was even my favourite flavour, stracciatella. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
I went back to Osteria Elio Volpe, but this time for dinner. I was already really impressed with my last brunch visit, and even with high expectations, my dinner visit was just as good. The space is just as lively and buzzy at night. Great vibe. We went with the Alla Famiglia for $89 per person. We told our server what dietary restrictions we had, and what items from the menu we wanted to try, and they took it from there. We ended up trying the following: - Yellowtail crudo - Beautifully prepared, deliciously simple. - Baccala 'mantecato', ling cod, potato chips - Very good. Great snacker. I wanted more. - Aurora gold apples, winter chicories, celery, radish, asiago vecchio, walnuts, lemon dressing - Good. Food at it's simplest. - Spaghetti, heirloom tomato ragù, basil, pecorino romano - Very good. Simple but so good. - Rigatoni cacio e pepe,10 year aged cheddar, roasted jalapeño, scallion - Also very good. - Grilled broccolini, garlic, anchovy, calabrian chili - Very good. One of the best broccolini dishes I've ever had. Pan roasted thumbelina carrots - Good. They were undercooked, so hard to bite and cut, but tasted great. - Whole grilled branzino - Very good. This was really surprising to me. We didn't ask for this, as it's normally a Market Price item so I didn't think it would be added. I normally don't like grilled fish as it tends to be dried out, but I was completely wrong on this one. Still really moist, and tapenade is one of the best I've ever had. - Grilled lamb chops - Excellent. I'm not a fan of lamb normally, but these were incredible. - Braised beef cheeks - Excellent. Exactly how I imagine, incredibly tender beef cheeks. - Tiramisu cheesecake - Very good. I find restaurants normally drop off at dessert but this place continued to deliver. Strong quality dessert that matches up with the rest of the meal. Service was excellent that night. Attentive, helpful and never too intrusive. Overall, another great meal for what I thought was an incredibly reasonable price. Maybe one of my new favourite restaurants in Vancouver!

Yelp
Super trendy upscale brunch atmosphere. Lacks a bit of ambiance because it's busy and loud but the food is decent. The service is great, Wendell was personable and attentive. No complaints about the food but didn't love the pulled beef. The French toast brioche with ice cream was dreamy though. I'd make a reservation as it was full.

Yelp
Fantastic restaurant run by the same team behind Savio Volpe. Tried their Elio Sour signature cocktail, very light and refreshing for the summer. The semolina house rolls are a must order - they are fluffy and milky! Pizza and pasta was delicious. Pizza is very thin and crispy, and I loved the pomodoro sauce. Both pastas were chewy, and the sauces were flavorful. For dessert, I highly recommend the tiramisu cheesecake!

Yelp
Food: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 The sister restaurant to two of my favourite Italian spots in Vancouver (Savio Volpe and Pepino's), I was stoked to hear that Elio Volpe was opening near me! As expected, I could only get a reservation a month out for a Tuesday night so eagerly waited until then. When you first walk in you'll find it's very bright and the perfect balance of beautiful without being pretentious feeling so I was a big fan of the ambiance. We were seated right away and then greeted by our waitress who brought over water and asked for our drink order. We decided to skip on drinks and went straight to the food. Since the restaurant encourages sharing, we got the following items to share: - arugula salad - house baked bread - rigatoni cacio e Pepe - side of fried cabbage My favourites were definitely the salad and the rigatoni! The salad was a delicious start and the rigatoni was tasty but not your traditional cacio e pepe. The bread was fresh out of the oven and had the most amazing fluffy texture but I personally wasn't a fan of the glaze on top which gave it some sweetness and would have instead preferred garlic or cheese on top. The cabbage wasn't our favourite, it was quite a generous portion but extremely oily and bitter so we could only eat half. We ended off the night with the semolina citrus cake for dessert which was good but not mind blowing Overall, I really enjoyed this spot but its sister restaurants offer a better variety in my opinion! That being said, if you're big on seafood, Elio might be for you!

Yelp
Very excited for this new restaurant that opened in this neighborhood. It's hidden on east 17th but still close enough to the main road (Cambie) to be found. Paid street parking available right outside the restaurant. The vibe and decor are very similar to the sister restaurant, Savio Volpe. The ambience was nice and the staff were friendly. We ordered the "family style" which is $80 per person and the chef cooks for you. You can specify if there is something particular you want on the menu, we said we would love to have a pizza - and left the rest for them to choose. I can't remember the names of the 2 starters, but it was a tuna dip and an ahi tuna crudo. The dip was good and flavourful, however the sauce for the crudo was way too sour. And that is coming from someone who enjoys sour food. Moving on to the pepperoni pizza, that was definitely our favourite for the night. So simple yet so delicious. We also had the rigatoni which was also very good but could have a bit more sauce. For mains, we got the clams and grilled prawns. At this point we were quite full but we were glad we got seafood instead of meat for the mains, much lighter and easier to eat. We ended the night with the tiramisu cheesecake which was also amazing. Overall, I would definitely come back and try other dishes. I'm always happy to do chefs menu or family style when I try the restaurant for the first time to see what I like and dislike. The price is also decent for the portion, we left feeling very full. 4/5 would recommend giving it a try!

Yelp
Dinner at Elio Volpe . We tried their pasta ... yummy . You have a choice of small or large serving. Pasta Calabreselli alla vodka, dungeness crab, pepperoncini, pangrattato ( I like the slight taste of vodka. Nothing overpowering) Cavatelli, lamb and tomato ragú, green olive, mahon, fennel pollen Dessert Spiced apple torta, caramel The service is excellent. Our waiter left us alone (none of the how's the food every 30 mins). For a weekday dinner this place was jammed with diners.

Yelp
Is it great? Yes! Is it as good as the original Savio Volpe? Maybe not. Good: Baccala chips with cod dip - nice contrast between the hot salty oily chip and the cool chunky tangy dip. Rigatoni cacio e Pepe - great flavour, the jalapeño really adds to it. Okay: Glorious Organic greens salad - a cross between a green salad and a Caesar salad, tasty but not special. Calabreselli crab pasta - Not super flavourful or crabby, so tastes a bit mild. The Marguerita pizza is average at best, and the burrata is more of a sweet/dessert pizza as the pesto lacks richness/depth to cut through the sweet balsamic. Their drinks are good too. Overall, I think it's a trendy and fun spot to hang with friends, especially on summer nights when they have the windows open, but the culinary experience falls a bit short.

Yelp
We had an amazing time dining here at Elio Volpe. The food was amazing and the service was great. I definitely would come back here again. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful here and everyone there was so friendly. I definitely would recommend checking this place out.

Yelp
We were here for dinner. The food's really good, though so over-priced, as others here have said. The decor's nice. For the most part the service was very awkward and intrusive. We were in a small group and unfortunately our young female server kept interrupting our conversations, asking us how we were doing, how we spent our day, 'how the first few bites/sips are' and changed the cutlery and wiped down the table, after every single course (four courses). Then returned to re-arrange the forks. It was weird, needy and exhausting. We have stressful jobs where we serve hard. And if I'm paying 50 dollars for a bowl of pasta, I want efficient and professional i.e. mostly invisible service. For a relaxed, genuine Italian restaurant with better prices in Vancouver, start on the Drive and head East.

Yelp
This is possibly the best Italian restaurant I have been to in Vancouver. Everything about this restaurant was phenomenal, the service was amazing and helped with any questions and brought the food out quick. The food was tremendous and had amazing taste as well. If you're into the mood for Italian definitely check this place out.

Yelp
Excited for this new addition to the Cambie neighborhood. It did not disappoint! Ambience, service and food were all top notch. Impressive for their soft opening. Highly recommend their brunch, especially chicken and waffles. Next level!

Yelp
WOWIEEE, I came in with such low expectations for Elio, and to be honest for them to surpass it and on top of that give me even more WOW!!! I was very much pleased and satisfied for the rest of the night. Thank you Chef Alan Tam for cooking for us that night, and on top of that having such a fantastic server, Sean. Me and my group had a great night, especially when we reserve a table, we were seated promptly when we arrived and was offered to hang out jackets/coats. Our friend was already there, and we were seated perfectly right at the spot where I can see everyone coming into the restaurant. I loved the spot a lot as I love to people watch. Anyways, the server Sean came to our table and asked us what to drink for the night. I was already ready as I love going through the menus etc. I ordered my drink and the others still had to go through the menu. I love the feel of the menu, it is a nice leather for their drinks. And on top of that the colour is just the perfect aesthetic. I tried to get the tasting menu for the night with the friends, but we decided to just order stuff off the menu a la carte. We were ready with our orders when Sean came back with my drink and he was extremely attentive and answered all our questions about the stuff we were curious about on the menu that night. Very knowledgeable and extremely nice too. Yay Sean. Anyways we ordered the following: Honeycrisp apples Salad- 7/10, this was pretty good as the apple flavour really gave the salad the perfect acidity. I really enjoyed how much of a fresh light simple salad can be quite a good delight. And it was perfect for the season of summer to start off something good and delicious. Baccala 'mantecato' & Potato chips- 8/10, I was not expecting the potato chips to be perfectly stacked like that in the little casserole dish like that. On top of that, the flavours on the potato chips were perfectly dressed. Every bite was consistent, and their version of a mantecato was delicious. I enjoyed every bite and I loved how they pay attention to every detail of the dish. Yummy!! This is a must order again when I do visit! Manila Clam & Lemon Zest Pizza- 6.5/10, maybe this could have been better. I am not much of a pizza fan, but the others loved this. I felt this could have been so much better if there was more ingredients on it, it felt a little meh. But I did enjoy their perfect bake of the pizza. A good crisps on the crust and on top of that NOT GREASY BOTTOMS. YAY! I enjoyed that quite a lot as I ate it with a perfectly non-greasy hand. THANK YOU. Grilled Lamb Chops w/ celery salsa verde- 9/10, WOWIEE this was one of their plates that amazed me! I didn't expect this at all. They only serve this as 3 chops and on top of that, this was extremely delicious. The chops were not gamey at all and their celery salsa verde was a delicious blend with the lamb chops. The chop size itself was enough for 3-4 bites and the perfect cooking time too. Well done on this!! Flatiron steak in black pepper sauce- 10/10, the reaction I had for this steak is not describable. And that pepper sauce that was paired with the steak, omfg I was legit dying and my friends were worried when they saw me eat this steak. I love this steak, it was delicious, it was amazing it was SPECTACULAR! It was a perfect sear of medium rare, and the way the meat just melted in my mouth, I couldn't stop. I have to get this again when I come visit. This is a must eat on my list. Daily Sorbet (mandarin oranges)- 8/10 it tasted like a delicious fruity creamsicle and it was a good palette cleanser for the night. It was delicious and summery and it was just fully of comfort. I loved this a lot. The starters and the apps were just ok, but their mains are their biggest attractions for sure! Will be coming back for more dinner nights with friends or maybe trying a brunch day~!

Yelp
Excellent pizza... nice ambience Will definitely return. Closer than Savio Volpe for us.. Convenient location what's not to like?
google avatar

Bev W.

Yelp
Loved the space so much. Similar to its sister restaurant savio it serves up delicious Italian food. We did the family style and was well fed. We were given the tuna crudo, chicken meatballs, salad, 2 pastas, asparagus side, the roast chicken and 3 desserts. Wish they put the pizza on our meal as that was big a reason why we wanted to go there. We did request for the crudo to be part of the meal and should've spoke up about the pizza. Everything was delicious and the open kitchen is entertaining to watch. So nice to see more options in the Cambie area.

Fakhteh S.

Yelp
It was alright. They are really trained to serve the family style way; so if your party wants to order their individual plate, the service is going to be slow and disorganized!

Yelp
Was brought here for my surprise birthday dinner and now it is my new favourite restaurant in vancouver! The whole ambiance and interior is so well thought out. The drinks were amazing! We got complimentary wine as our table wasn't quite ready yet when we got there but the wine made up for it. We got the half portions of the cacio e pepe and crab pasta, both were amazing but the cacio e pepe is something I never had before, the pickled jalepenos really stand out in the dish. The pepperone pizza was sooo good! I loved the thin crust and hot honey on it. Very pleased with the service and food. Will definitely be coming back for more celebrations

Yelp
I cannot in good conscience give a higher rating for one main reason: for how much the dinner costs, I expected a lot more. Food: 3/5 Service: 4/5 (saved by great hostesses) Ambiance: 5/5 There were some positive points during the evening that really stood out. When we arrived for our reservation (that took 6 weeks), the door staff noted that they were running a couple minutes late and provided our party of four some complimentary prosecco while we waited. The interior decor, the layout and the vibe were welcoming and modern. Despite it being very busy, it wasn't overly loud, nor did it feel 'hectic'. The service once we got to the table was lacking. Our server seemed frustrated that we asked to order our food in stages so we could gauge appetite and cravings as the night went on. Once the meal got going, it felt challenging to flag her down to place orders for additional items. By the end of the night, we ordered 5 different drinks, 3 appetizers, 1 salad, 2 pastas, 1 pizza, 1 veggie dish and 3 desserts to share. The Good: House Rolls - delicious, warm bread served with cheese butter Yellowfin Tuna Crudo - probably our favourite dish of the night Pistachio Cannoli Every drink - alcoholic and otherwise. Extra points to the bar! The Average: Beet Salad Roasted Asparagus Rigatoni Cacio e Pepe Tira Misu Semolina Citrus Cake The Bad: The Margherita Pizza - Do not order pizzas here. The crust is very thin as if the dough hadn't been set to ferment long enough. It was burnt, dry, and fell apart like a cracker. Another reviewer suggests its possible to get better pizza at Costco, and I don't entirely disagree. The Ling cod Dip - it was quite fishy and the chips were very salty and dry Calabresilli a la Vodka - for $50 (FIFTY), I don't know what I was expecting, but there were perhaps three tablespoons of crab (with canned tuna consistency) mixed into the pasta

Yelp
Delicious food, beautiful space, and excellent service. We had 6 courses and each one of them was excellent. At least as good as Savio Volpe. Well done.

Yelp
Went for brunch with friends for the first time and it was a wonderful time! Food was delicious - favourite was the baked ricotta. I highly suggest the sweet baked goods too! The fried chicken was nothing special, but the waffles were good. The interior of the restaurant was stunning! Cute decor and beautiful colours. Service was good. Server was helpful in recommending food.

Yelp
The fastest thing we got was the bill... The service: To start things off, we were seated at the table without a drink menu or water, we had to flag down the hostess in order to get water. No one came to take our order so we had to flag down the hostess again. After we placed our orders, it took 30-40 minutes for the salad to come, a 30-40 minute wait for the first entree (pasta) and there 30-40minute wait for the pizza. So dinner took over an hour, and this is without dessert. Waiter was too busy tending to his friends (who were seated right next to us), which probably explains the above. He didn't explain that the entrees were going to be served one after another with a 30-40 minute wait in between, or else I would have asked for everything to be served together. The food: Beets and whipped ricotta salad ($19): I enjoyed this, on the sweeter side of things if that's your style. Crab pasta (1/2 sized) ($28): not bad, nothing to really write home about. It has a little bit of heat, but nothing outrageous. Mushroom pizza ($25): the mushrooms were nice, the crust was thin like cardboard and crispy like a cracker, and too burnt for my taste. We skipped dessert since we didn't feel like waiting another 30-40 minutes to be fed another mediocre dish. All in all, you can get better pizza AND service at Costco. The Ambiance: The interior and exterior was well styled and that's where the good things end. If you're waiting for a table, most restaurants offer you a seat at the bar to wait for your table. However, here at Osteria Elio Volpe, the hosts will offer you a spot at their "standing bar," which is just a polite way of saying "stand at the entrance or off to the side with a drink in your hand." We were seated at the bar for our meal, in a quiet and tucked away spot where our waiter proceeded to forget all about us (see above on flagging down the hostess to get water and our orders in). Hope you're friends with the waiters/waitress, because if you're not, I doubt they'll even try to ask you how the meal is going. Overall, big flop. Not worth the time or the money. You'd really be better off doing another night at Earls or Cactus Club than here.

Yelp
Cool room, good service, mediocre food. We are fans of Savio Volpe and were excited to try the new space. Sat at the bar (just don't sit on the end by the door as people continuously come and go past you), place was busy and had a good vibe. There were 3 of us. Ordered a bottle of wine, 2 pizzas (Pepperone, hot honey, confit garlic, pomodoro without the sesame seeds & then the Roasted mushroom, salsa bianca, parsley salsa verde) & 1 pasta (rigatoni cacio e pepe w/ 10 yr cheddar, roasted jalapeno), ended with Semolina cake, roasted strawberry crema & citrus. The pepperone pizza was the highlight. Thin and light, solid amount of small perfectly cooked pepperoni. Only issue we found was the outside crust has no rise at all and because it's so thin it gets really hard and cruchy and the pizza goes cold by the time you're finished the first piece. The mushroom pizza was really disappointing as the sauce had zero flavour (ricotta/marscapone). Neither did the salsa verde. Unless you have a bite with mushrooms there was no taste at all. The pasta was really disappointing. The rigatoni noodles were perfectly cooked but then it goes downhill. Using cheddar as the cheese for the sauce again is ridiculous. Very little flavour. Cacio is traditionally made with pecorino romana (& some add parmigiana as mixed) which gives a wonderful salty, creamy taste and creamy consistency. The pepper was way really fine and had zero bite. The jalapeños were interesting but didn't do much except give colour. It was also luke warm when we got it and went cold quick. The cake was heavy and disappointing as well. On top of all that, the price was really expensive for what it was. If you're going to charge a premium, the food better leave you leaving wanting more. Granted we had a bottle of wine ($115) but our bill was $262 + tip. Had high hopes but unfortunately won't be back.

Yelp
this one is tough. for an italian place, i'd say this is 3.5/5. but I cant give half stars, but they do not deserve 4. service - good. cant really complain about that. all the staff were friendly, helpful, attentive. 5/5 ambiance - nice space, clean, but the ambiance is loud. hard to have a conversation. just really depends what you're looking for. We sat at the bar - this was the only space available without booking a super long time in advance. This was fine though, the bar seating is quite comfortable. the food: 2 of us shared: beet salad - 3/5 - a bit heavy on the cheese and it ended up too salty arancini with uni - good, but not enough uni. 3.5/5. chips with ling cod - not enough dip for the portion of chips. 3.5/5 cavatelli with lamb ragu - excellent. 5/5. pasta work is on point. cherry semifreddo - 2/5 - too hard and dense, more than ice cream, so this is just a technical failure, probably overmixed. They would get 1/5 but the cherry topping was good so another point for that. Overall the food is just ok, with the pasta being excellent but the semifreddo a disaster. Everything else was just mediocre. And the real kicker here is their prices - very high across the board. They're more expensive than michelin-starred places in town, and the food is just not good enough. The theme seems to be lack of balance in their dishes. Theres plenty of competition in the Italian space here, and no reason to have to come here at these prices for just service and pasta. There is street metered parking around the area. Dont think i'll be back.

Yelp
Good not great. Service mediocre. Had a worm in our salad; bill came and we were double charged lol. Beautiful room. Will come again to try pizza.

Yelp
Food was flavorless and overpriced for what you get. With the exception of the pizza I could have made everything I ordered for a third of the price and much better. Ordered the pepperoni pizza which has tons of pepperoni which normally would be a good thing but the pepperoni was horrible and flavorless.

Yelp
I went here for date night and had an awful experience We had a reservation and arrived 5 minutes early All three hosts were running around clearly flustered with how busy it was. Instead of having one person talk to people while the other two sat people at tables, all three were tripping over each other and not communicating properly. By the time someone finally checked us in, we were waiting for over 15 minutes past our reservation time before we were seated. There is also no waiting area, so you are constantly being shoved around as hosts, servers and other guests try to maneuver around you or are asked to wait outside in the cold. So when we were finally seated, I have to say our server was kind and amazing however, the menu was difficult to read due to bad font, horrible design and inaccessible language for the average vancouverite. As someone who speaks Italian, I was finding myself googling some words on the menu and feeling extremely embarrassed that I had to do that. The restaurant was also extremely loud and I could not relax due to the frantic ambiance and too loud music. The food was decent but the portion for the price is not worth it and find it ridiculous that none of the proteins come with a side. For anyone wanting to try an Italian restaurant, I highly recommend places like Claudio's or Sopra Sotto. Don't waste your time or money here.
